As I am so often forced to do, I am rating Campus not on its cleanliness, decency, or decor. Instead I offer it five stars based on the fact that it so adroitly executes its one assigned duty: being a dive bar. The people watching can be truly phenomenal. In addition to the regulars, there is a fairly constant influx of people who truly don't belong there, yet seem to be drawn as a moth to a bug light. The mixture of the two species can be remarkable. The food, greasy dive-bar comfort food in the purest sense of the term, is outstanding for what it is. Prices are reasonable, and the drink specials are so good that I can never pass them up even when they are something evil like $2.50 PBR tall boys. Some of the servers are downright hysterical in their weathered cynicism, and the staff overall is friendly and helpful for such an establishment. If you are a dive bar connoisseur like me, or thinking about taking your first excursion into drinking which doubles as social research, check the place out. It seldom disappoints.

It is the only place to go when your wife is looking for you...When would she ever check here? Never...The Green is Great....

What is it with Dive Bars and small closet sized bathrooms? One stall for the ladies- Come on people! At least the chick before me lit a match... Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Quesadilla- Boss! Green Chili was really peppery- but decent Pool League here- Good times! 2 pool tables- nice small patio- parking can suck at times. Good Music on the box Interesting crowd Cheryl was our waitress- Awesome!

This is a cute little divey place with efficient and friendly bartenders/servers. The drinks were served promptly and were stout. I had the chicken nachos, typical pub fare, and it was decent. I had the half order and could only finish about a third of that. Clearly a lot of regulars, which is cool. They were all quite nice, too, which made watching the Rockies game that much better (except for the part where we lost). I'll definitely be back again.

Whilst discussing what you really want out of a neighborhood dive bar with a friend (and maybe dissing our usual haunt a little bit) I suggested we stop in for a round and the Campus Lounge, which has always been a Denver favorite for me. It's old school. From the juke, the the regulars, the friendly service. The food is what you'd expect from such a place. Nothing special, nothing bad. The service is great. The prices are reasonable, and it looks like what an American bar should look like.

This is a good joint. Fair price drinks & good pastas & wings. I like the owner, he is a nice Italian guy.

I reserved a space for 40 people for an open bar engagement party 2 months ago. I received a call 3 days before the event and was told I had to start my event an hour late or not have it at all due to double booking. The staff was beyond rude and the owner gave me no other options. I was shocked by how unprofessional the staff was.

Lot of old memories here been coming here since I was a kid with my dad. I love this place

Dive bar in Wash Park / Bonnie Brae? Yes please.

Very nice neighborhood bar cheap drinks good food and a nice arcade room in the back, and it's really nice to walk into a bar that everyone knows your name... I like to stop here for a beer after going to wash park. They also have a really nice patio outside

I was visiting Denver in search of a place to live and saw Campus Lounge and was immediately drawn to it bc of their patio seating and dive bar aura. I am a recent college grad and have a huge respect for dive bars. They let my dog sit on the patio as well which was a huge plus. They had good drink specials and a very friendly staff who gave me suggestions as to where I should look to live. The waitress was very personable and made me and my Yorkie feel very welcome. Their menu is huge with so many different options ranging from enchiladas to burgers but I went with the patty melt which was hot & delicious. I enjoyed my experience there and will definitely be going back to check it out at night and play pool and darts!

It was sooooo gooood. I read some of the reviews so I wasn't expecting anything but 'bar food.' The tamales are very authentic! Go Campus Lounge !!

Nice pub. Friendly service. Pool tables, pacman. Yes! This place is a 'dive' but not in the true sense of the word (it is clean and friendly). It is just an old basic food/drink with kind of a pub/mexican/breakfast (weekends only) menu. Nice small patio. Don't expect fancy beers. You go here because it is fun, satisfying eats, and prices that are a rarity in Denver.

This place looks pretty sketchy from the outside. I finally decided to head in since I was early for my hair appt. It is actually really cute in side. Has booths and is very clean. It was only 11 AM so there were only 2 other people in there. There are a lot of tvs too. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon instead of ham and it came with a side of fries. I got it without mayo. The sandwich was great but I will say I would not order their fries again. First they were very very floppy and the server said they did not cook them long enough so she ordered me some new ones. Well they were not any better so I am not sure what is up with those. But I would definetly be back with friends to watch a game and hang out.

Delicious Burgers, Awesome large Fat Tire Bottles for cheap! Win!

The decision to come here to watch a football game was a decision based upon proximity. Not the best way to decide, we soon learned. It's a dive bar, and it looks as if it belongs on the set of a Quentin Tarentino movie. As a dive bar, there's cheap drinks and cheap food, but the service was downright weird. There were four of us sitting right in front of the bar. Servers had to walk past us to go to their station, yet we still had to either go to the bar ourselves or stop someone to get a round. The server who was supposed to be taking care of us spent most of her time sitting at the bar, and only approached us after we got rounds from other sources. In fact, she was so out of it, we concluded that she had to be high or drunk due to her mannerisms. Two of our group wanted to leave, trying to get the bill split up was such a hassle in communication he just decided to pay the whole thing. My cousin and I had one more round and then left. The upside, as I said before, is the drinks were cheap, but even so, I can't imagine that I'll come back here.

Expect what you expect and you will be a happy yelper. It is what it is. I love my chicken wings but these where the super frozen bulk-kind. Full of feathers and lots of broken bones. I understand my meal was once alive and but there was the appearance of not giving a crap about the body parts on my plate. Sloppy all the way around. Green chili passable, forget the chicken fried steak sandwich and don't get excited about the liquid condiment tray. Let me get to the curt service. I spilled my beer. I know. There was a disturbance in the force. The ball-n-chain said to the Vulcan taking care of us "I have know her for almost 25 years and I have never seen her spill a beer. EVER". Stone cold waitress mopped up the spill, didn't offer me any new napkins and bolted. I still tipped her 20% but I will reconsider next time. The old waitress and bartender in me is still in my heart. A go to place for those who go there. Seems the same crusty sort of place despite the smoking ban ten years ago........just the 411.

Well after all it is a dive bar... But the food was pretty bad. I had enchiladas. Sauce was out of a can, which I expected. But I had to use a knife to cut the tortillas. My girl had 3 tacos which reminded me of the ones you got on a plastic tray in the cafeteria in 8th grade. She said the guacamole tasted "sour," if that's even possible. I don't want to think about it anymore... Watched the bartender do a shot of Jager with a customer, which automatically makes the joint dicey. Place has lots of TVs and I'd only go back for beers during a ball game. And maybe a Jager with the bartender. Food - No bueno. Ambiance - OK, I guess.

I haven't been to the CLounge in a couple months, but it's your usual dive. Reminds me of the Stadium Inn, Kentucky Inn...and the College Inn, actually. So the Lounge reminds me of Inns. I guess that's today's lesson. The food is mediocre (standard dive bar food) the beers are relatively cheap, and it's a fun place to watch a DU hockey game if they're out of town or if you didn't score tickets to Magness. It's absolutely nothing to write home about (as Kathleen A. says) but they DO have photohunt (the naked lady picture puzzles that Kathleen A. was talking about) that's ridic addictive. I guess you could say it's ridic addic, but maybe that's just me. It's good to stop in for a brew, and a bite. It'll quench your thirst and quell your hunger, but it's not going to give you an epicurean foodophile handy or anything.
(3)Kathleen A.
Decent dive bar with decent bar food. Nothing to write home about, but it will satisfy your hunger. They have the naked lady picture puzzles (where you have to spot the differences between the two pics, but they are dirty pics). Last time I spent about 2 hours playing, I was hooked. It is probably the only reason to go back here. More bars need that game.

This is not a place that you go for food. The food is typically Dive Bar food fare, but you go there for the bar. The drinks are strong and the bar has plenty of seating space for a venue this size. You can normally grab a $6 pitcher of Coors during happy hour and a pitcher of Blue Moon for $7. There are a total of 12 tv's with the smallest being 32". Giant 60" DLP is the main attraction with (2) 75 gallon fish tanks on either side. The bartenders all seem to be nice, I've been there several times and it never seems like anyone is ever waiting to long to get a drink. So far I've had the Tuna Melt, the wings, the tacos and Pastrami and Swiss sandwich. None of them spectacular, but none to bad either. Completely satisfying, I would say that the food is much more an accessory to the bar and all the TV's. Surprisingly the food, while being bar fare, does not seem to be as greasy as similar items in other dives. With a pool table, Foosball, Golden Tee there is plenty to do if watching the game is not your thing. I can't imagine going here though, if the game isn't your thing.

Ok, it's not fancy, it's not modern, it's not even the best food, but I still love bellying up to the bar for a cold beer. The owner is an x hockey player and that's kinda cool. So, if your in the mood for an "old school" bar with authentic bar "regulars" and a friendly staff, swing by for a beer.

I just have one word for you: Green Chile. Okay, that's two words, but at the Campus Lounge, it stands alone. This stuff is AMAZING. Not your standard, watery, soupy fare... this stuff is thick and hearty and made from scratch. Depending on the chef making it, it ranges from really spicy to atomic tounge-scorching... but don't let the heat frighten you. If your tastes tend towards the wimpy, just ask for an extra side of sour cream to tone down the capsaicins. The Campus Lounge is definitely a neighborhood staple, and owner (and local DU Hockey Hero) Jim Wiste is frequently around chumming it up with the bar regulars. The weekday day crowd is sparse, but early evenings are a perfect time to bring the family. There are plenty of kid-friendly options on the menu, and the kitchen staff is generous with entertaining special requests. But once nighttime rolls around, this place is all bar. A deceptively rowdy DU Law School crowd makes it a weekend ritual, and stiff drinks and plentiful shots keep the Friday and Saturday crowds lively. But let's get back to the food. The Campus Lounge is definitely a dive, but the food here is quite good. Mexican and American fare rules the menu here, and both genres are handled well. A fave app is the Popcorn Chicken-- little seasoned bites of beer-time goodness. BONUS: fresh soup made daily from scratch-- always a good option. And when in doubt? Green Chile.

It will drink.

What a waste of a good opportunity to host a decent dive bar. Let's start with the obvious: every single wall hanging was gifted by a beer company and the ceiling lights look like they were installed with a chain saw. Then there is the food. You know those greasy potato chips that never come in a full size but have been ground up by some masochistic handler? That's what we get with the kids meals. The Mexican food is bland and uneventful. Just take a look in the kitchen (next to the dumpy restroom) and see the food's origin. What can you expect? We then come to service. The decent restroom has an out of order sign so the "in club" can use it and smoke. We live nearby so we once wanted to buy a dozen tortillas to finish dinner but they refused. I told them I got milk at a nearby ice cream store. Their line "we are not bonnie brae ice cream". Jim, stop sucking out every penny, smile once in a while and make your staff take charm school training.

Despite the smoking ban, the bar retains the smoky atmosphere. Not a lot of beer choice, but that cheap beer does taste great with their grilled cheese and onion rings. Once I did see the entire Av's hockey team hanging out and drinking. My friends and I thought of buying them a round, but it turns out they were drinking Crown Royal and we couldn't afford to! Definitely my best celebrity siting and an offbeat place to have one.

Smells. It's gonna take a lot of drinks, I mean a lot of drinks for me to EVER attempt to eat there again. A LOT of drinks. And the wait-staff isn't so great either.
(1)Mitch J.
decent drink prices, just the right amount of peeps in there for a saturday night. I liked it. I wonder how long that fish tank has been going...those fish are huge!!
(4)Pablo E.
good local bar, never crowded unless there's DU hockey game. plenty of tv's, and their pitcher prices are very reasonable. food is well priced for what you get, be sure to check out the daily specials. not a place to go if you want to get all shit faced and silly, but a good spot to have dinner and a few beers.
(4)Sarah E.
Free pool Sunday through Tuesday, friendly staff, friendly patrons, stiff drinks, comfortable atmosphere, convenient to DU area, Bonnie Brae, and Wash Park. Ladies...hot softball and hockey teams roll through here all the time. Guys...it is like shooting fish in a barrel.
