Very good burritos, I like this place much better than the big chain burrito restaurants. I come here at least once a week for breakfast burritos. The chorizo is my favorite, but all are good especially with the extra hot salsa which gives it some kick. The service is always good and fast. They have an extensive menu, but I didn't care for the nachos and rellenos as much.

If you want delicious, fast, and filling authentic Mexican cuisine, I highly recommend this establishment! Very similar to Chipotle and Qdoba style, except with more authentic and better tasting ingredients. On top of the great ingredients, they have a wider variety of entrees outside of burritos and tacos that include tortas, tamales, and nachos. They also have great options for breakfast, with the chorizo breakfast burrito being my favorite! Last note, if you like spicy, their spiciest salsa is delicious and will make you break a sweat! Great establishment that has had me going back for 10 years! Highly recommended!

Stopped here after my nephew's knee surgery at Franklin because he was starving. Apparently he comes here a lot, because when I ordered his special (half chicken, half steak burrito double-wrapped, Spanish rice, black beans, refried beans, hottest salsa they have, corn salsa, sour cream, cheese and lettuce) they knew who it was for. I wasn't as creative and ordered the carnitas burrito with cheese, lettuce, Spanish rice and beans. Everything was very well prepared and I believe each burrito probably weighed around 2 pounds. Place was clean and the total was around $16 with tax.

Love this place! Breakfast burritos are the bomb, and every plate I've had there is delicious. Super friendly staff.

Love this place. It's not expensive and the food is good. Breakfast burritos are awesome. That doesn't reflect badly on the rest of the menu, it's just a bonus! Great staff.

Excellent fresh Mexican food! The smothered chicken burrito and shredded beef flautas were great! Used a $6 buy one item get one free coupon from the Denver Entertainment.com book. Could not use it with the daily special though. The place was very clean. You order at the counter with open seating inside and outside on the sidewalk patio area. Televisions to keep you entertained. It was busy looks like they do a lot of breakfast and lunch business. They have Menudo on the weekends. Would definitely dine here again without a coupon since prices are reasonable and portions are large! Thank you for choosing to be in the Entertainment book because we may have not tried this place without a coupon.

Very tasty breakfast buritos. They offer several types inclduing bacon, ham, chorizo & steak. You get a choice of flour, wheat or spinach tortilla. They now offer breakfast plates that include omelettes, huevos rancheros, machacha (shredded beef) with scrambled eggs and onions/peppers. All of the plates come with green chile, flour or corn tortillas, rice and beans. I have yet to try their lunch options but they have a full menu of options. Bocaza is definitely a good Mexican restauarnt. The staff is always friendly and the place is clean.

A bit pricey once I started to add things to my burrito that I thought would normally be included. My burrito ended up costing me closer to $10... The food quality is alright, nothing special in my opinion.

I highly recommend. True Mexican food. I personally like it better than Qdoba and chipotle

I've recently discovered this place and I'm in love with the bacon avocado breakfast burritos. The veggie ones are also good, though they come with onions by default. If they are able to make them without, I'll try them again. I'm also excited that they serve horchata and have a freezer case full of delicious looking popsicles in some unique flavors like Rum Raisin and Cookies & Cream as well as some more traditional flavors. From the outside, this place is small and unassuming. It looks a little like a fast food joint, but the food is far superior to the Taco Bell that is just 2 blocks away. The service is fast and very friendly. They also get bonus points for using SpotOn so I can earn free burritos. I've been recommending this place to all of my friends in the area. Check it out!

We went here on a Friday night because we were lazy, wanted food and had a coupon for this place. I've been on 17th tons of times and never noticed this place and I guess I know why, it was pretty forgettable. They have a sizable menu (with pictures!), you go up and order, they make everything in front of you then you pay and eat. I got the torta which was good but nothing amazing. It's served with chips on the size but in my world eight chips is not a reasonable size, I want more!! My boo got the enchiladas and they looked disgusting, drenched in red sauce, so much so that you couldn't even see the tortilla. And I took a bite and it tasted like it looked-nasty. I was still hungry after the meal thanks to the little portions they give and lack of flavor as a whole, I wouldn't even come back if I had another coupon or a free meal.

I moved in down the road a couple months ago, checked it out right away on a week day and it was decent. Nothing to write home about but a filling burrito. Ok, so it was decent enough and convenient enough to go back, which I did on the weekend. There was one guy working the place, has an odd, whispery voice and acts like he doesn't care... Which he doesn't. I ordered a fish burrito and he looked into the container where they store the precooked fish... There was maybe a half a palm full of fish, maybe. He then proceeded to build my burrito being extremely skimpy with all ingredients. An example being, I asked for gauc (which is extra, that's fine) he gave me no more than 1/4 what Chipotle would. I asked him to put more... He gave me attitude and said I'd be charged double. Finished up, got my burrito and left. I've since been three times, all on the weekend and that guy does the exact same thing. Attitude, horrible service, skimpy on the ingredients and its just an ok burrito. I won't be going back nor will I be recommending to people. If anything, just don't go on the weekends when that guy is working the place alone.

I was pleasantly surprised by Bocaza and the quality of food and the variety of the menu. They have everything from nachos and burritos to enchiladas and street tacos. The salsa bar was great also! We had a veggie burrito and a combo plate. Both were tasty. It is a quick place to eat and reasonably priced. They also offer breakfast.

Think Chipotle but better. Great, fast, casual dining. The salsa bar is great!

  • Steve A.

I've spent many a lunch break grabbing a Burrito from Bocaza, always a filling and tasty find. You also can't beat a good old fashioned salsa bar with 5 or so Salsas and condiments. If you're looking for a change, add grilled seasoned veggies to your meal, pesto sauce, or even make it a torta (this was a pleasant mistake I made one day while ordering) Lunch can be a little busy next to the hospitals and all, but you'll have your order in less than 10 mins tops. I'm a fan!

Their food is the best, but unfortunately they seem to regularly close way early. Think I am 2 for the last 7 attempts.

tried this place out and was disappointed. we got a sampling of a lot of things, tacos, burrito, bowl, etc and nobody was super impressed. almost everyone agreed the standard chain burrito places were better. Also found a bone and chunks of cartilage in my meat.

The first time I ever ate green chili was at Bocaza. Do you think that might have something to do with the fact that it's also my favorite green chili? I love it smothered over a skinless chicken burrito. The chili melts the cheese perfectly so you get those long cheese strings when you pull back your fork. Sooooo good. I am also a huge fan of the nachos loaded up with chicken, black beans, pico de gallo, tomatillo salsa, guacamole, and jalapenos. They use shredded cheese instead of cheese sauce so your chips stay nice and crispy. This is one of my guilty pleasure lunches. Speaking of lunches, Bocaza has a different lunch special for every day of the week. You can get an entree and a drink for around $6. And if you are so inclined, you can throw in a little dessert in the form of a fruit bar or an ice cream bar for only $1.39. The family that owns and operates Bocaza is wonderful. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. This is an awesome little neighborhood gem!

A Chipotle style restaurant with a heated selection that's been sitting there all day long. This place is rather disgusting. Reminds me of third grade cafeteria food. I seriously do not want to come back. My enchiladas were flavorless and my girlfriend's burrito wasn't even close to appetizing either. Moving on. I won't even think about this place again.

  • Jeff S.

Inferno salsa. That is all. Ok, I'll give you a bit more: As far as Mexican grills go, this is the best hands down. They have a much more complete menu, reasonable prices, the ingrediants have always tasted fresh, and the meats are always tender and flavorful. And they have inferno salsa.

Love these guys! Bonus points for being open on Sunday on the way to the Botanic Gardens. Breakfast and lunch burritos are great, and just the right amount of food!

  • Anuj T.

Real good value for money - I got a ridiculous amount of food considering I only ordered one item...and I ate it all. As much as I love chipotle or cafe rio, this place will give you way more authentic Mexican.

Best breakfast burritos!! Their green chili is amazing! I'm a bit of a regular and would recommend to anyone!

Bocaza is the best taqueria in Denver hands down! Coming from San Francisco, it took me a few years to find a place that matches up to Mission Burritos, and Bocaza does it! They offer whole wheat and veggie tortilla options and are even willing to steam the cheese on the tortilla before putting in the perfectly salted and seasoned beans and rice. Their guacamole is always fresh and their salsas are authentic. The owner, Hector and his staff are always friendly and welcoming. In fact, I used to work downtown, so I ate there a lot during my first and second pregnancies. To a pregnant lady, Bocaza is heaven. Now, my youngest is almost two. The staff at Bocaza have watched my family grow up! My children request Bocaza at least twice a week. This place is the best. Excellent people! Stellar food!

Like these guys. They're a local, family owned, fresh ingredients version of Chipotle's or Qdoba, with 2 locations in Denver and one in Grand Junction. Started going there many years ago and returned yesterday with a friend when we were looking for a good, quick lunch. Bocaza fits the bill perfectly. Bocaza means "big mouth" and you'll certainly need one to chow down on their generously crafted menu items. My fav's a barbacoa burrito with Spanish rice, black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, chopped onions and cilantro, and a mixture of their hot and medium spicy salsas. OMG and a half! So beats the chain offerings. Give these folks a try when you're jonesin' for a rush of fast Mexican food. You'll be happy you did. Hasta luego, muchachos, David

  • Dallas S.

Did you know that 'Bocaza' means 'big mouth' in Spanish? Are you surprised I know this? Does it even really matter? Probably not. You know what does matter, though? This place is good. Like, really good. And relatively unknown, it seems, which surprises me. I came here with some friends after an aborted mission to Pinche Taqueria because big time crowds and poor time management make my anxiety go into crazy mode, y'all. I'm sure Pinche has got it going on, but you know what? What's popular isn't always the best decision and the best decision isn't always popular - at least according to my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. T. I'm sure she was referring to this place, too, because it's cheap, it's empty (at least on a Friday night - which also gives me anxiety normally, but I was with others), the food is baller, the employees are nice, and it's along 17th Ave., which means you can stop by one of the imbiberies (shh, just trust it's a word and keep drinking, pet) and start your journey to the Denver Film Center to see Nicole Kidman in her first film role (which happens to be her first terrible film role, also) with a slight buzz. It's a no-brainer. How's the food, you're asking? Three of us went in, each ordered different meals (chicken nachos, smothered carnitas burrito, some kind of fajita), and there were no food-survivors. We cleaned all of the plates. Speaking only from the nachos perspective, I can say that they're some of the better nachos I've had - not just in Denver, but of all time. I am usually a slow eater (so nachos are my arch-nemesis) and I had a zero-percent-soggy-chip-issue, for what it's worth. I have a confession to make, though: I chose this place because I was working under specific restraints ("find me a sit-down Mexican restaurant with beer and is relatively quick"). Yelp said it had beer. They don't have beer. Not that it's a deal-breaker. With that, this bocaza will now shut up so you can go eat some delicious burritos.

  • Michelle W.

Totally gross. None of the food we ordered was even lukewarm (burrito & burrito bowl). The guy preparing our food seemed surprised that I wanted more than just rice & beans in my bowl and charged extra for cheese & a squirt of sour cream. The burrito was smothered, and the green chili was weak. To top it off, the hot sauce was not hot. Maybe this is a late night drunk-food spot? Would rather eat at Chipotle.

  • Patrick R.

I love this place. I've eaten here too many times to count and really never had a bad experience. Nothing fancy. Walk up, order some food, tell them what you want on it, and then take it to a seat. The barbacoa is personal favorite for tacos or burritos; the steak and pork are also good. Get a smothered burrito. They do a nice one. The salsa selection is also a major plus. In addition to the 3-4 they have behind the line (I tend to go with the medium verde unless I'm feeling adventurous), there are a handful of others next to the bottled beverage cooler. There's a roasted salsa that's amazing, and a variation on their mild pico with a little more kick. Don't miss those. It's a neighborhood spot that has a steady crowd coming and going, but I've never waited more than a minute or two to be helped. The food is always good. This is a great neighborhood spot.

We ate there today as I was craving Mexican and my roommate is a staunch vegetarian and will only eat at places that declare that they are lard-free. I was NOT impressed as soon as I walked in the door. Another party, who walked-in when we did, looked around and left without ordering. The menu is confusing as most of the items are not priced. I am not wealthy enough to order without knowing the price. I had the chicken burrito, smothered with the most lame green chili sauce. It was cold all the way to the core...telling me that they did not have the temp turned-up on their steam table (a health code violation, for sure). Essentially, what I got was a poor knock-off of a Chipotle' burrito. I wish we would have gone there instead. At least at Chipotle', they occasionally wipe down the tables. At this Bocaza, clean tables don't seem to be a priority. We are still hunting for a vegetarian friendly (though meat serving) Mexican restaurant...any ideas out there?

I've only had their breakfast burritos. I lived within walking distance when I first moved here from NYC and I still go back 4 years later. They're cheap and small, but tasty!

  • Eric B.

Price you can't beat with food you will enjoy. They have something for everyone, and if you order a rarely item they make it fresh. The veggie green chili is awesome. I personally enjoy the salsa bar and Chalula dispenser.

  • Jacob C.

I love Bocaza. It may look like low-quality Mexican food from the outside, but it's actually moderate quality Mexican food at low-quality prices! Very good vegetarian and fish tacos and one of those big, bubbling tanks of horchata. VIVA!

  • JG G.

I was expecting more from this place - the burrito is very standard, the torta is served on a dry/stale bun. Overall I'll keep looking for a better taco/mexi joint in Denver.

  • Alissa R.

I like this place and frequent it on work days due to its close proximity. the salsa bar is usually rockin' and i enjoy the pork and veggie tacos. they have REAL vegetables like zucchini and eggplant instead of only peppers and onions! and for two loaded tacos, chips and guacamole, and a few sides of free salsa, it come to around $6!

  • Jaclyn B.

Pretty good food! Friendly service. Seems like a local place. Large selection.

  • Nicole W.

The hot salsa is HOT, staff is friendly, cute outdoor patio As others have mentioned, kinda like Qudoba as in, build your own taco, burrito etc. I got the fish tacos, it was ok, and cheap and hit the spot. We stopped here for "dinner" to go for Jazz in the Park. I had an entertainment coupon, so that made dinner super duper cheap.

We called for a delivery order that included nachos. When our items were delivered there were no nachos, just a container with the toppings and no chips to be found. When I called to get the item corrected, first I was offered to have chips delivered for the nachos. When I mentioned that my topping items would be cold by the time the chips got here, the person answering the phone seemed confused. Finally, I was sent over a new order of correct nachos but unfortunately you can tell they were thrown together quickly without much concern for appearance or portioning as the container of toppings I received was more generous than what I actually got on the order that included the chips. Frustrating that we paid $24 for three items plus a tip (for a total of $27) and then get an incorrect order.

  • Shawn S.

Authentic, fast and inexpensive...hands down better than the more popular chain burrito restaurants. They don't have queso but do have a good variety of salsas and jalapeños. There meats are high quality and flavorful. Place was clean and staff friendly. Delicious food

    (4)
  • Anastasia T.

My barbacoa burrito was delicious, the service is mediocre, and the prices are deceptive. If you have more than two salsas, they charge more. I expect to be charged for guacamole, but I also expect more than half a teaspoon. My friend would have enjoyed her rice bowl more if the rice were at least warm rather than frozen!

  • Daron S.

We grabbed breakfast burritos here before heading to the mountains. It was pretty good, but I'll be more prepared next time when ordering because if you don't speak up and ask for hotter green chile you won't get. I got one with bacon and it was pretty good. I just needed more spice, but potatoes were soft but not too soft. It was clean inside and they had plenty of items to stuff your burrito with that could please anyone's taste buds. I will try again!

Bocaza is like a kinda strange hull of the idea of chipolte, but with better-ish food. I dunno how to describe this place honestly. It's like a break from chain food, that isn't like mind blowing, nor a let down. When I lived in Cap hill/ up town or whatever. This was the place I'd hit up after a night of getting shit-faced. If a breakfast burrito and an horchata doesn't cure me...the day is just fuckin awful. When I worked at Pasquini's this shit saved my life countless times. The people who work their are very polite. Clean place. Whatever -you get it I'm sure. I don' think anything really sticks out of the menu, typical mexi food. If I lived in the area still I'd hit it up. Not a place to go out of the way by no means, but worth a hollar.

I have the fortunate (unfortunate?) luck of living a quick hop and a step away from this little gem. Before I even get to the food - let me talk about the people that work here. They are honestly some of the nicest people I've ever encountered at a 'fast-food' type restaurant. Although they can be sometimes overwhelmed by the rush, which I've found happens at really odd times, they always ask how you are and are very appreciative of your business. Ok, now let us get to the grub. I will say upfront that I only get the chicken quesadilla or the green chile pesto burrito. Lets start with the green chile pesto burrito - I crave it. If you're REALLY hungry after a day of work, waltz in to Bocaza pick yourself up one of these gems (in and out in MAX 10 minutes) and you will be full until THE NEXT DAY. I've had this burrito as early as 4:30 and have honestly been stuffed until the next morning. So not only is it tasty (the green chile pesto is delicious), but is wildly filling and CHEAP! For the amount of food you get $5.89 (+tax) is a steal. I cannot say enough about this tasty treat. As for the chicken quesadilla - it's quick, yummy and cheap as well. The addition of sour cream, salsa and guacamole make for a giant meal! I've brought my good friend (currently living in San Diego) and my brother (currently living in Massachusetts) here and both have RAVED about the yummy food that Bocaza offers. As a Massachusetts native that lived across from one of the most delicious Mexican joints in Boston for two years, Bocaza is AMAZING. I recommend it to everyone!

Caveat - I am only taking breakfast into consideration for this. I live 20 miles away, but make the drive at least once a week just for their chorizo breakfast burritos (ask for it with the queso blanco instead of the cheese blend) which for my money are the best in town, bar none. They don't subscribe to the asinine theory that a breakfast burrito must be the size of a newborn infant to be good. I have indoctrinated dozens of people over the years and all are believers. Hector (the owner), his family and staff are always friendly and helpful - when my parents come to town to visit, we go there and he always makes a dozen for them and freezes them so we can grab them on the way to the airport. The other big perk for me and my breakfast burrito needs? They have glass bottles of MexiCoke - none of that HFCS-sweetened stuff here. I would love to give them 5 stars, because they've always done right by me but 5 stars requires ambiance and table service, no doubt. If you want a great breakfast burrito, Bocaza is your spot!

Decent food. Nothing special. Good salsas. A little pricy in my opinion. Breakfast burritos are pretty tasty but kinda small for the price.

Their use of styrofoam on both dine in as well as take out ruins this place for me. And they microwave your food on that styrofoam. Yuck! Their food is actually really tasty, pretty fresh, good quick mexican food including tacos, enchiladas, burritos, etc. The salsa are fresh with good flavors. I wish they would switch to paper products and I would go back often.

OBSESSED with bocaza ! i live right up the street, and i found it while on a run one day, and it looked like it was worth trying. I took a friend one night to get a burrito , and they were amazing ! the food is fresh, its authentic. i love all of the people that work there, they always make your burrito exactly how you want. And the biggest gem of this place, is that theyre open early and make bomb breakfast burritos !! i legit have a punch card now and probably go once a week. Whenever my roommates venture out for drinks on a friday night, we all KNOW that saturday morning we are going to bocaza for breakfast burritos. I love this place, and highly recommend it to everyone that likes chipotle, but wants to try something 10 times better !!!

Last night, after a couple hours of bar studying, I began to crave a breakfast burrito. I thought about my favorite place in San Diego (Aldabertos in Point Loma) and wondered - hoped, that Denver may have a similar hole in the wall mexican restaurant. After reading a couple reviews, I chose Bocaza because of the location. I definitely regret this decision. The burrito was made with eggs that looked like they had been cooked hours ago, uncooked cheese, and wrapped in a foil that coated the entire burrito in a strange metal-scent. Very disappointed, I miss Aldaberto!

I've been coming to Bocaza for many many years, and it really has changed over time - I'm not sure if it the changes have been for the better or the worse, but the food is pretty good! There was a time this place was very clean, very anglo and seemed to be competing with Qdoba and Chipotle. Somewhere along the way, the menu, ambiance and clientele all seemed to change, and it started to look more like a Taqueria. Today, it's somewhere in the middle, still trying to work through an identity crisis. The menu has become so expansive that they're often out of things, or some things look a little dry in the assembly line. I still try to order the same thing I've been ordering for years - the poblano pesto chicken burrito. It's still just as good, but it seems like they're out of the pesto mix every other time I go. When they are, I order the carnitas burrito - pretty good, but no match. Bocaza is one of those places I don't make a special trip for, but when I'm driving along 17th and thinking about lunch, it makes the perfect stop!

If you're in the mood for some quick mex, Bocaza will do the trick. I stopped in recently in the middle of the afternoon when the hunger pangs just wouldn't go away, and was pleasantly surprised by their yummy tamales, cilantro rice, and black beans. Whatever they put in the black beans, I feel like I could have just noshed on a full order of those alone. There's a mind-boggling selection of entrees, a few beer selections, a huge variety of popsicles, and even a few fancy desserts. As far as I can see, it's all street parking so watch out for that - but If you're in a hurry, this is definitely a place you can get in and out of relatively quick.

Bocaza puts McChipotlame and Q-Don'tza to shame. Here you have a family owned, mission-style burrito restaurant, with all sorts of other wonderful authentic Mexican dishes available. If you want a bowl of something, go the the McDonalds owned chain, with it's mass produced, bland ingredients. If you want the real-deal, head to Bocaza. My standard is the barbaccoa burrito with black beans, cilantro rice, corn salsa, green chili and cheese. It's the best sandwich on planet earth, for me. I usually get a meal and a snack out of one burrito. I've experimented around their menu and have liked everything served to me. The closest thing to a complaint I have is that the two times I've had fish tacos, they were made completely different. But since they were both so delicious that I'm salivating as I type about them, that's not really a complaint. I've always found their ingredients to be fresh and full of flavor. I didn't know how good the simple cilantro rice ingredient could be until I found Bocaza. It was always a filler, because of other, corporate burrito joints. Now it's a part of the sandwich that I look forward to experiencing. And that's how each of their ingredients ranks in comparison. It's better at Bocaza. If you're the type of person who prefers a Big Mac to a City Grill burger or Pizza Hut to a real Brooklyn street slice, then you might be happier getting a burrito at one of the big boys. If you're someone who likes fresh, made in house ingredients, done the right way and outside of a corporate formula, I'd suggest giving Bocaza a taste. I've only had better on the West Coast. I'm grateful to Bocaza for sticking around for so long to satisfy my burrito cravings. They'll even deliver. I'm going to call now.

I had not been to Bocaza in many moons, but I'm hooked again... The poblano pesto chicken burrito is unbeatable. Their nachos are pretty damn good too. I've heard the fish tacos are good, but I'm always a bit skeptical about ordering and eating fish tacos this far inland. I'm sure they're good, because everything here is delicious. Their angle for competing with Chipotle and the other big burrito joints seems to be to prepare all their ingredients in a very traditional and tasty authentic Mexican manner... and it works. Also, they have hibiscus tea and Mexican sodas. I'm a big fan of a Mexican Coca Cola to wash down a monster burrito myself and it just adds to the pleasure I derive from this place that I can get one here.

First, a confession: I haven't tried anything other than their breakfast burritos. That being said, if you work in the City Park/Uptown neighborhood, this is a great place to stop and grab some takeout for you and your coworkers if Einstein Bros. just isn't cutting it any more. They have several varieties to choose from (ham, sausage, bacon, chorizo, black bean), and I think I've tried them all. They're insanely tasty and filling. Oh, and did I mention cheap? Because dude, they're only $2-2.50 a pop. It's a great place to run in and out for a mid-morning snack. They're friendly, quick, and their food can be eaten in front of a computer.

This place is really weird. It is smack in the middle of a neighborhood, kind of by itself. I get the feeling someone went to a chipotle, took a quick look around, jotted down some notes and set up their own humble version in a terrible location that offered fairly cheap rent. The whole thing is a little unsettling if you ask me.

I have to admit, I only come here for breakfast burritos a couple times a week (which are AMAZING). However, let's talk about their amazing service: the second I walk in, they know my order, and that was the case since the second time I came in. The staff are so sweet and attentive, especially since there are a few people in the back getting ready for a catering gig.

I have been to this place a couple of times. Their food is nothing to write home about but you could also do a lot worse. Their prices are good and they have a nice outside patio to eat on. I think their breakfast burritos are more exciting than the rest of their menu. This is a good place if you are in need of a quick reasonably priced Mexican fix.

Decent food but expensive for a fast food joint. We spent 26.00 for two adults. Nothing special, good service and good food. Clean place. Parking easy. Overall a o k

This is my new favorite quick mex spot. 0.99 cent tacos... That's what i'm talking about. Their shredded beef is super tasty and their burritos are hefty. They also have a patio with umbrellas. If only they had a liquor license...it's ok I forgive them.

I wasn't particularly stoked...got the fish tacos, which were on soft corn tortillas (yum), but the fish was dry and wasn't cooked fresh. My side of cilantro lime rice was pretty good. My boyfriend got a torta with pork, and he liked it. Maybe the fish is their only weak spot...

This was the first place I ate at when I moved to Denver. I was looking at an apartment nearby and was starving after the unexpectedly long drive from the airport. After finishing my burrito, I texted a friend back east with "Yup, made the right decision - I love Denver." Granted, I ate my burrito at one of their outside tables, and it was a perfectly warm, sunny day though I had just left the east coast on a chilly, wet October morning. So, yeah, that helped. But I just really liked that within a block of the random place I parked there was a nice, family owned burrito place with a variety of interesting options (way more than the chains), some beer and a very laid back atmosphere with tables of people from all different ages. It was also my introduction to the smothered burrito - why has this smothered technology not become more popular on the east coast? One of the women behind the counter that helped me make a decision (again, you've got several options even once you decide you want a burrito) came outside and asked how I liked it. When I gave a big smile and said it was delicious she was clearly happy to have the compliment. Since then I've come back here several times, and each time I get full on good stuff for a cheap price. Everything has been good, and the staff has always been very friendly. It's not five star stuff, but it's reliably good, and I think it's a nice bridge between the "Organic & free-range but somewhat bland" feel of Chipotle and the "Amazing tasting but good God don't tell me what's in this or let me see the kitchen" food from hole-in-the-wall places.

Bocaza's chicken teriyaki burrito rocks my world! Before discovering the entree at this joint I'd never even imagined teriyaki on mexi food - I'm so glad for the simple things like that in life! The nachos are also delicious, as well as the fish tacos. I haven't tried too many other items as I'm the type to stick with what I know and like and seriously - just thinking about the chicken teriyaki burrito now has me drooling on my keyboard! Living in the 5 points neighborhood just north of Bocaza, and eating here at least 3 times a month since '01, I've seen the place change a bit. I think it went through 2 or 3 ownership changes and each time the menu would get ever-so-slightly tweaked, but stay mostly the same. The present owners are friendly and personable and when you visit as often as I did they remember you and treat you like a neighborhood regular. Unfortunately, I've moved from the neighborhood so I don't get the opportunity to eat here as often as I used to.

Great food. Friendly staff. Large portions. Not around this part of town very often, but will definitely go there when I do! Tasty!

Unassuming and well-priced, typically how i like it. I've only had the breakfast burrito so far, but it was delicious and it was only $2.50. I will go get a normal burrito sometime this week and report back. All the burritos seemed to be in the $5 - $6 range, which is pretty damn good...

When I need that burrito fix, this is my go to. It fast, cheap and pretty darn good. Relatively large menu, also have fish and breakfast burritos. Not mind blowing but definately reliable.

This place consistently rocks. Still going here for my fish taco craving or other such. Here's a tip for you. If you're looking for a filling snack, just get one taco any way you like for under $3. It will fill you up until dinner time. That's my M.O. lately. As for the guy complaining about green chili, it's a southwest U.S. - Mexican thing. When it's good, it's sublime, like angel's singing and dancing on your taste buds. Problem is most places don't know how to make it, or they use crappy chilis, hence the "green goo". It should be blazing hot (spicy), fresh, and more like thin soup than goo. Haven't had it at Bocaza, so can't rate on that. Last, for the person who eats "bowls" and would rather go to some lame chain for a "bowl"... who the heck eats "bowls" of anything at a Mexican restaurant? Go to Chipotle and get out the line cause I'm hungry and I want my Bocaza taco NOW!

Muy bueno! I live so close to here that I could crawl to get in the door so the convience factor is playing a big part for me. Great tacos ninety nine cents always sounds good to me! Good eating!

The food here is good, but it doesn't blow me away. I tried their Chicken Bowl and the Chicken Torta. Both were good, but I think I would rather go to Chipotle for a bowl or burrito. The ingredients are nice and fresh, the staff is very friendly and prices are very reasonable. I will be back, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to eat here.

Next time I'll just have my son order for me :)

Always come here over Chipoltle or Qdoba. Pretty much all you have to say. The Veg. Green chile is solid. So is the barbacoa. Prices will never exceed any of the chain locations mentioned above.

The ingredients here taste super fresh and the staff is top notch. I almost always see Denver's finest men in blue dining here, which makes me feel good. I'm kind of disappointed by their breakfast burritos though. It's like they're missing something that Little Anitas and Santiagos has totally mastered. Maybe it's the green chille? There's something it needs, or I prefer. Whatever way you look at it. It's good in a pinch, but I have other favorite spots.

Not sure if me being drunk had anything to do with this but I think I had the BEST Fish Burrito ever here. I went yesterda after the AIDs walk and I must have built up a huge appetite after the 5K . 1 hour and 10 minutes was our time crossing the finish line - 1 hour walking (hey there were 7,000 people it was crowded and 10 minutes of peeing in 5 different alleys). So back to the Fish Burrito, the owner was a kind gent and he place 5 nice sized pieces of fried fish on a large flour tortilla, then shredded cabbage, Spanish rice, refried pinto beans, corn salsa, a little pico de gallo, crema (sour cream) and special sauce. I must admit it was quite special not to mention it was the BIGGEST burrito I had had in years. I thought I was in CA for a few minutes as I was gnawing on this long and thick Mexican delight. It made my day and I still have half of it for lunch today. My whole burrito was less than $5 !!! I hear their breaky burritos are the best but I highly doubt it after trying their Fish Burrito.

Been searching for good, "dirty", non-chain burritos in Denver. Really liked this place. They "mix" up all the delicious inside ingredients before wrapping, which I love. A lot of variety for meats and veggies and even the tortillas.

Finally, I got the chance to check this place out and although I dont eat Mexican food alot of the time, this place will definitely be one I will visit more often to feed my cravings. The service was quick and friendly and their burritos are huge! Which is good cause I wanted something that was going to keep me full for hours. Dont let the outside fool you, it looks small when you're driving by it, but it actually is roomy inside. I'm meaning they have more tables inside than I thought they would have, plus they also have outdoor seating. Make sure to pick up a punch card. Buy 12 entrees and you get one free meal.

This place has the best chile rellenos that money can buy in Denver. Period. Also, the sauces are homemade and delicious. The owner, Hector, is a wonderful human being and runs an operation that has the highest standards in hygiene and food quality. You can't go wrong with this place.

I was legitimately surprised to find the closest thing to a Mission-style burrito that I've found in Denver at Bocaza. I wandered in here one Friday night without high expectations, and I had a brief moment of deja-vu that took me back to Taqueria Vallarta in Santa Cruz. The burritos were great- giant flour tortillas that you can have filled with chicken, carnitas, ground beef, or grilled veggies. There is also a buffet-style set up of ingredients to choose from, including cheese, sour cream, guacamole, onions & cilantro, corn salsa, and various degrees of salsas that range from mild to holy-crap hot. And the best part (at least for me)? No green chile. I don't know what it is with Denver and smothering all the Mexican food in loads of green pork-based goo, but I'm personally not a fan of green chile and it doesn't come with the burritos at Bocaza. If you are a fan of the stuff, I believe you can get it on the side. I've been searching for your standard-fare, stuffed burrito and I I was pleasantly surprised to find it here. They also have horchata. While it wasn't the best horchata I've ever had (I agree with the review that commented on its weird "perfumed" smell), they do have it. I know I'm always disappointed when I order super-hot salsa and don't have any horchata to wash it down with....

A couple of my friends and I met up in Denver for a weekend. We were trying to find a Mexican restaurant near the Denver International Airport. We ended up finding Bocaza Mexican Grill on a google search. We were expecting a sit down place with some dim lighting. When we pulled up to the restaurant, we discovered that it was a fast food place. We hesitatingly tried it out. The owner decided to prepare our food himself. He served us with such enthusiasm and delight AND the food was really tasty. It was one of my wife's favorite Mexican food experiences. We definitely recommend this place for its service and food. What a treat!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
