Mexican Food the way it should be in the South West. Great green chile, my favorite soft rellenos in town. The Desebrada is so tender, juicy and yummy. The Nachos are ineffable, really I can't describe them, you will just have to go there with me. The family that owns this place made El Noa Noa such a great place and then they left. Noa Noa just ain't what it used to be. I still respect that family too, I just feel so much more comfortable at Bella Vista.

I love this joint. Decent Margaritas (ask for less ice if you order them on the rocks) and good chips and salsa. I think I will make it my new HH spot. I can't wait to try the nachos and carnitas!

The best Mexican food in Denver. The nicest staff in Denver. The best prices in Denver. These people make Mexican food from scratch. Love their mushed beans and rice. Everyone I bring here loves it. Totally loves it. I can't say enough about this place.

My coworker brought me here to try the green chile. In California we call it Chile Verde. Prices are cheap, you pay for the chips and salsa if you want it so that's your trade off. They were good. I ordered a cheese enchilada and chile relleno. I paid extra to get it crispy. Now I know not to do that again. It was wrapped and fried like an egg roll. My beans and rice were okay. Enchilada was okay, service was okay. There was a tiny bit of a language barrier which is odd because I speak some Spanish. I could have ordered my relleno the original way which means it's falafel....or fluffy if understood correctly. I'll probably be back again someday since it's across the street from my work. I'll try something new and different.

This was one of my favorite Mexican places up until a few days ago. I noticed we were The only ones dining there which was odd for 4pm. Most of the people were drinking at the bar area. My dad and I ordered our usual deluxe nachos with beef. They forgot to put the beef which at the time was probably a good thing. So I sent it back and they pile the beef on top of my original plate. Visually attractive. The nachos and salsa lacked flavor and my plate was super watery. I couldn't figure out what was so watery. Im thinking it was the beef they piled on my plate. Then I found a small piece of plastic in my food. I let the manager/owner know and I showed it to him. Granted it was a very small piece but was a real turn off from me wanting to finish. He explained to me that it was from the beef. He said the beef is packaged with staples and plastic that it can be easily missed. I've eaten at a lot of restaurants I've never found plastic! I told him it was unacceptable. He was nice enough to mark down my plate 50% as a courtesy. However, even the discount won't ever bring me back here. Sad I gave this place 5 stars years ago and how it's really gone downhill since then. This place has such great potential. Great location, lots of seating, parking but the food is terrible!

At the end of Denver this restaurant is situated, I don't think they get much food traffic. It is just far enough out of central downtown, however for the office buildings near it, it is a staple for lunch time fare. I have always been happy with my food and the prices are incredibly reasonable. For a while I was going once a week and they practically knew my order the moment I sat down. I have never had to wait long for a table, if at all. They are very friendly indeed.

I would say this place is more of a 2.5 stars but considering the excellent location I'll bump it up to three. Overall it's a decent Mexican food joint but it's really nothing above and beyond other places in Denver. One nice feature is the patio which is almost never full so you can get a spot for some fresh air. Also, this isn't just a restaurant but there is a little bar to the right when you walk in. So, you can just chill out and have some drinks. The margaritas are ok - nothing too fancy but the first sip can be a doozey. The food is standard Mexican. I've had the enchiladas and the taco salad. Both did the job well enough. The Super nachos are a bit of a joke so avoid those. In the big scheme of things I would come back here but I wouldn't tout it as one of the best places in town.

I know what you're thinking, 5 stars? This isn't The Cap Grille, so the 5 stars is not to say it's gourmet fare or waiters that remember your kid's birthdays, but the place is great and it gets 5 stars for a variety of reasons. 1. The salsa is homemade, spicy and consistently some of the best I've ever had. They do charge a buck or two for chips & salsa, which is lame but probably keeps the lights on, so I can live with it. 2. The food is good. Not great, not delightful, but good and it doesn't give you Montezuma's revenge within 45 minutes of leaving the place. The portions are large, the options plentiful and pricing is very reasonable. 3. The food comes out quickly. Not too quickly as in 'was this sitting under a warmer before I walked in', but you can sit down, order, and leisurely eat your meal in under 40 minutes. That's good for a sit-down place. 4. The beer is cheap. Most days it's a buck a draft. C'mon, that's cheap and they have a TV that plays soccer most days in the bar area. 5. Low staff turnover. I've been going to the Bella for 10+ years and the owner is the same guy (great guy, too), the staff has all been there for YEARS and are always friendly and working quickly. Keep it up for another decade, guys, and I'll keep spreading the word - The Bella's the place to be.

This place survives on location and signage alone. I ordered my flautas with guacamole and sour cream on the side, nope, all over, as soon as I saw it I said, "remember I said on the side?" And mimicked the same on-the-side-gesture I had used earlier. The guy said, "No, you didn't." No, I didn't? Ok... They came back out and One of my flautas was without chicken, one tiny chicken jerky string remained in the burnt tortilla. I ate the other two, which were mediocre and resembled beef, and remained there for another ten minutes. Nobody ever came by until I started to get up, after staring at them talking to one another across the restaurant (I was seated at the bartenderless bar). I showed the manager when he approached and he cut me off to explain to me first that guacamole and sour cream come on the flautas automatically. No duh. I explained to him that I knew that, as it is standard everywhere and I get them all the time and why do I have to explain myself???? He performs an autopsy on the aforementioned flauta and agrees it terrible. I tell him I'm just hungry and if he makes me a good chicken flauta, I'd eat it. The server also forgot my beer and pretended like I didn't order it. The entire experience cost 18.71? The receipt was hand written like a doctor's prescription and the servers rotten look said all I needed to know... This has all happened before and will happen again.

It pains me to give this place b/c its cheap Mexican food and friendly staff, but the fish tacos tasted awful!...there was a strong fishy smell instead of that fresh smell that you have when eating seafood. The bathrooms are somewhat in a disarray, the light in the women's room is broken...somehow part of the fixture is missing and then I was told in the mens that the stall door doesn't close. I will said that the chips were good.

Good food, even better prices. You might not think of coming in because during the day the lights looked like they were all off but go ahead and open the door. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green chile sauce with sour cream and guacamole on top. I think it was called the enchiladas supreme? I liked it and the green chile sauce was great. My friend ordered the fish tacos and she said they were decent. Little weird for a mexican joint to charge $2.50 for chips and salsa but whatever.

I can't comment on the food, but the fellow who runs this place is, in my opinion, not an upstanding guy. He does not believe in the phrase "the customer is always right." For instance, if you told him your soup was cold, my guess is that he would disagree with you. If you told him you were unhappy with the service, you might hear that the service was just fine. In short, don't expect the owner of this place to treat you with respect and assume that, perhaps, it was he who made the mistake. In my experience, he will just assume that you are wrong and that he is correct.

I am a veteran of this place only because it is the closest place to eat to my slumoffice building. After 50 visits, here are the top recommendations from me: 1) A proper micholada with Clamato on the side. They use limons (small mexican limes - less acidic and way better) not limes. The espceially good with negro modelo or with a coors light on tap. 2) Tacos Nortenas - steak goodness 3) Whole roasted jalapenos 4) the hot salsa instead of the regular kind 5) Tacos al Pastor special on Thursdays and Fridays. Works in a pinch on a weekday. It does do a very busy lunch during the work week.

If Bella Vista wasn't near my office, I probably wouldn't have ever stepped into this place. Located in a rather unremarkable building near downtown, Bella Vista is a welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of the CBD and the East 17th corridor. The food is okay, not mindblowing. There is a bit of charm in the dishes and some plates are better than others. I especially like the Carne Adovada.

Eating crappy Mexican food while in Texas this past weekend really made me crave some food from Bella Vista. While not much to look at from the outside (or the inside really), I go because I like the food and I know I'm always going to get what I want. Whether or not it's truly authentic Mexican food the way my boyfriend's mother makes, I could care less, because it's tasty and veggie friendly. A lot of places put lard in their beans, but I have been assured that Bella Vista does not. For something like $7 or less, you can get the Vegetarian Combination, a bean burrito, a cheese enchilada, rice and a guacamole tostada. They don't even need to take my order anymore, they know I know exactly what I want the moment I walk in the door! It's right next to Wahoo's, so why not pay the same amount of money and be seated and served in a real sit down place and support a local family owned restaurant? I think I'll go tonight.

I wanted to give this place 4-stars. Really. But I couldn't bring myself to it because the food just doesn't really stand-up for itself. Bella Vista itself offers some awful interior decoration that makes one pity the establishment. They truly need a make-over from the circa 1985 Village Inn decor. That said, it is somewhat cozy, in an outdated quaintly sad way. Also, our server (perhaps the only one working that day) was a very very nice gentlemen. He is worth a star all by himself. The food. Well, I ordered the chicken flauta plate. The flauta's were tiny, like microwavable taquitos, and so overcooked that I couldn't even stab them with a fork. Only the center was edible. The rice was okay. The beans were pretty good. Also, their green chili had a very salty processed taste. I doubt it was canned but it sure tasted like it. I stole a few bites from my boyfriend's plate and I liked his chili rich enchilada sauce (he didn't care for it though), and they also made a pretty good relleno. Also, their chips are awful. But you might eat them anyway because their salsa is unique and pretty tasty. All in all, though Bella Vista probably isn't quite up to par, I would give it another go. It's the kind of place you feel the need to suggest improvements because it has potential to be a good Mexican restaurant. But right now it's only a mediocre Mexican restaurant.

Solid authentic Mexican joint. Great salsa, above average enchiladas and weak atmosphere. Reminds me of a dive bar with a Mexican theme.

The previous reviews here made me really, really want to like this place. The first clue should have been the fact that at 8:00 on a Saturday night there wasn't a single car in the parking lot. The server/host/bartender looking at us in shock should have been the second clue. The nachos previous reviewers raved about were not very good, they were similar to something I'd make at home with a bag of chips, ground meat, and sour cream. The entrees were also not very good. The ground meat was extremely dry and mealy. We had the Super Burrito and the Chimichanga with shredded beef. I wouldn't recommend either. I'm extremely disappointed, the place was kind of run down, and as I said, totally empty. Judging from it's location downtown I have to assume this is a lunch place, definitely not a dinner spot. With so many Mexican places to choose from, I'd recommend you look elsewhere.

Pretty good! I think I might like the place more if I branch out past the ... oh crap. Past the last things I ordered. FLAUTAS. Right. This, folks, is why you should write reviews within 24 hours of eating at an establishment. Otherwise, you forget. Anyway, the flautas were pretty forgettable (obviously). However, the rice and beans were great, and my friend's fajitas looks incredible. The salsa served with the chips we got upon being seated had some kick, and the queso fundido was awesome. The chairs aren't really booster-seat friendly, if you bring a toddler, but they do have booths. Ample seating, decent parking, and adequate service. Oh, and? Very affordable. I'd definitely suggest checking them out sometime.

This pains me to write this... but it isn't nearly as unpleasant as our visit to Bella Vista tonight. I mean I used to really like this place, I gave it four stars... nice dive-ish local place, good, affordable food, and a place you can always get a seat. Well, we went in tonight for some tasty Mexican food but never got it. Went in and we were two of four people in the entire restaurant, at 7PM on a Friday. Should have told us something. Place smells old now... never noticed that before... which then drew attention to how run-down the rest of the place is. The long-since broken neon sign in the parking lot; the broken windows at the west end of the building with tape holding them together. The menu we got had the same items marked as "new" as the last time we came in, which I believe was back in the fall of '11. Our salsa bowl had a crack in it. But none of this would have mattered if the food was like it used to be, or if the service weren't some of the worst we've ever received. It literally took 25 minutes for our food to come out (by this time there were a whopping 5 other people in the place). When it came out, my dish (the bacon-wrapped shrimp, one of my favorites) had clearly been under the heat lamps. Dried out, luke warm, and the melted cheese had coagulated into a hard, greasy, nasty spiderweb holding all the shrimp together. The rice, normally good, was clearly old and overcooked. My wife's carne asada burrito was slightly better. Back to the service... during the 1/2 hour wait for our food the server never checked back, not even once, even after my margarita and water were long-since emptied. Then 20 minutes after our food was delivered I had to walk up to the front desk to pay. Stood there for 5 minutes before I realized our server was washing dishes behind the bar. He finally came up, and calculated (by hand, not using the cash register, mind you) our $30 tab. Not a smile, not an apology, no acknowledgement of how long it took. I rushed... literally rushed home to complete this review. Bella Vista is no more. We'll never be back, I don't recommend you go there either... and at the rate they're going they won't be in business soon anyway...

Service was great- very welcoming and friendly. Food was not. At all. The only reason I gave 2 stars was the friendly staff. I love love love cheese enchiladas, but at Bella Vista, I had to leave half of my food on the plate. Hubby, friends, coworkers would tell you: I always finish my meal at a mexican restaurant! But here, the cheese enchiladas were tough, chewy, and tasted like freezer burn. The quac tostada was blah- made with that light green excuse for guacamole. At least the chips and salsa were decent. I really was looking forward to discovering a yummy Mexican restaurant that I could recommend and return to often in this area, so I am very sad to report that I just can't go back. The food was not good, at all.

It isn't near perfect, but is decent food at a great price, and I have never, ever had bad service there. yes. Our plates arrived piping hot, and the cheese was real, the greens fresh and crisp, and the tortillas seemed to multiply before our eyes. This is not a five star fine dining Michelin restaurant. It is more along the lines of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Service was responsive, and the food was served in a raonable amount of tme. I have been coming back for years, and will continue to do so, because I love the people there, and like the food, too.

After many unsatisfactory visits to Benny's, Jared and I decided to try a new place for Mexican food. We Yelped and found Bella Vista. I have to say that it is sort of a hidden gem (in my book). It was a cold rainy night and this place was practically empty so we were seated right away, and then appeared a basket of chips and a bowl of salsa on our table. I can't say much about their chips but their salsa was delicious! Jared and I were amazed at the prices and were eagerly waiting for our food so that we could start our criticism. Jared ordered a tamale, beef burrito, and a chili relleno. I ordered a been burrito, guacamole tostada, and a chicken taco. I won't go too much into the details, but Jared and I have found our new favorite Mexican food place in downtown. From the green chili, to the beans, to the perfectly seasoned meat, and to the sauces, the food was incredibly satisfying. To top things off, the owner was just about the most pleasant person I have ever met. If you get a chance to meet and talk to Daniel, you will be amazed at what a nice guy he is and you will see the dedication he has to his restaurant. I think I should add that we were not starving by any means but we ate everything on our plate and left with stuffed bellies. We will be coming back very, very soon. And FYI - Daniel's family owns El Noa Noa so if you like their food, you will probably like this place.

About Taco Bell
Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.
The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.
Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(1)Cameron F.
It certainly is cheap Mexican food. It's very true to its form, like you feel a part of the culture here. The ambiance is well....non existent. Great place for a cheap bite when ur taste buds are craving some mex!
(2)Amanda F.
(4)Richard R.
(3)Jeff B.
(5)Kevin J.
Food was really good and the staff was awesome! I went there twice on my trip and loved it. Cheap beer, they put the tv on the game we wanted and the mole was delicious! The churros were awesome too!

(2)Lisa H.
(2)Tara L.

Either sell breakfast burritos or don't! The breakfast is unreliable. Not open when they say they will be. Either sell breakfast burritos or don't, but don't say you are open for take-out breakfast burritos and then not be open.

I especially like the Carne Adovada.

its ok, good for the quick "authentic Mexican " lunch. wait time decent and food is right out. just don't be surprised when it looks like something out the microwave. oh and their salsa is not famous. i could make it in my sleep.

It certainly is cheap Mexican food. It's very true to its form, like you feel a part of the culture here. The ambiance is well....non existent. Great place for a cheap bite when ur taste buds are craving some mex!

Food was really good and the staff was awesome! I went there twice on my trip and loved it. Cheap beer, they put the tv on the game we wanted and the mole was delicious! The churros were awesome too!
(5)Paul R.

(3)Gilbert S.
its ok, good for the quick "authentic Mexican " lunch. wait time decent and food is right out. just don't be surprised when it looks like something out the microwave. oh and their salsa is not famous. i could make it in my sleep.

(2)Tara L.

Either sell breakfast burritos or don't! The breakfast is unreliable. Not open when they say they will be. Either sell breakfast burritos or don't, but don't say you are open for take-out breakfast burritos and then not be open.

(5)Shiho F.
I love this joint. Decent Margaritas (ask for less ice if you order them on the rocks) and good chips and salsa. I think I will make it my new HH spot. I can't wait to try the nachos and carnitas!

(4)Christina H.
