The pizza was good and was more fresh than a standard cheep pizza but not by much and especially not at the standard price point they are selling them. I was also disappointed the "fresh basil" was cooked into the pizza instead of put on fresh after. The location was convenient and the employees were extremely pleasant. I was able to call in my order and pick it right up. All in all, I enjoyed Basil Doc's but there is a few things they need to improve if they want to sell pizzas without the Groupon: More ingredients offered and better ways to enhance their "freshness" preparation; the chicken on the pizza was not seasoned, looked and tasted processed and was very bland; In general the pizza needs a bit more effort to compete in the gourmet pizza market.

This was literally the worst pizza I have ever had. We were initially excited about some of the more interesting offerings, and opted for a white pizza - "basil infused olive oil" with pinenuts, chicken, etc. however, this pizza had literally no taste, was very overcooked (=hard and dry--Maybe they put our small pizza on for as long as the large?). This was pretty much inedible and we contemplated making a digorno to make ourselves feel better. I wouldn't pay 2$ for this, let alone $20!

I've been to various Basil Doc's location and have never been disappointed by their calzones. For $8 you get a calzone big enough for two meals (or three if you have more self-control than I do!) and it comes with three throw ins. This past visit I had bacon, goat cheese and Portobello mushrooms which was absolutely delightful. I've never been a huge fan of their sauce that comes on the side, it needs a little more umph but add some red pepper flakes and parmesan to that and you will be set! Staff is super friendly and chill here, once I put in my order for two calzones to go, all three of them hustled and got to work right away on it. I love Basil Docs since they support a lot in the community like Movie Madness Monday and Infinity Park and if you donate to Colorado Public Radio, they offer BOGO. Great value if you're looking to dine on the cheap! PS--They don't open until 4 or 5 on the weekends!

I just used their new Mobile App and ordered on the go! The app allowed me to choose the location, order the pizza, use a 2for1 coupon and chose a convenient pick up time. We picked up a fantastic meaty large Pizza (the Big Wheel) and a small veggie gluten pizza for fee. The gluten free was the best we have ever tasted of a special mix of corn flour and other yummy grains. Very cool app you should check it out. Look for Basil Doc's on itunes app store.

Basil Doc's has one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I have to admit, in general I'm not a big pizza fan plus I don't like heavy, greasy food but when I moved to Denver this was the first pizza I tried and it was amazing. It's evident they use quality ingredients, everything is very fresh, the dough is always nice, warm and soft inside and super crispy on the bottom. What I really like is after eating a piece or two I'm defiantly full but don't feel heavy and weighed down. Their individual slices are huge, and while they are a little on the pricey side it is worth it, you get what you pay for. One thing I don't like is their sauce has pretty sizable chunks of tomato in it, I wish it was a little more.. saucy(?) and wet rather than chunky but it still tastes great. I've only been to the Wash Park location and everyone has always been very friendly. I do wish they would deliver as I no longer live down the street.

Basil Doc's original owners, Dave and Kate had the recipe for this amazing pie. They moved back to their original home in New England several years ago, however their recipe has stayed the same. The crust is super thin and crisp, the sauce light and spicy, the ingredients are excellent (especially the thick sliced pepperoni). We are blessed in this area of town by having a plethora of good/great pizza places - The Bonnie Brae Tavern, The Saucy Noodle, Anthony's etc. All of these have their claim to fame but Basil Doc's is the cream of the crop. My only nit is that this location does not deliver.

Best pizza crust in Denver! I'm not a fan of Colorado style bready pizza crust that requires honey to make it edible or cracker thin pizza crust that resembles burnt matzo crackers. Thinnish chewy delicious crust here (owner probably not from CO) toppings are good but I think they could be a bit more liberal with the cheese. Also pricy but the large pizza is really large, 20" I believe. 1 star off for not enough cheese but love it otherwise.

On the pricey side - 2 small one topping pizzas for around $28 but tasty and fresh and great for when you want something a bit fancy. Downside they open at 4 most days and don't deliver.

Really Disappointing. Groupon is great for trying new places, except for in a case like this. The pizza was very greasy, with way too much salt and garlic. In addition, the center of the crust was incredibly limp and soggy. To make things even worse, it was pretty expensive, too. In the end, I was having a hard time deciding between 1 and 2 stars. I finally went with 1 star because it was so bad that I wouldn't go back, even if I had another Groupon.

So expensive! The small pizza was $17! I assumed at that price it would be bigger, but it was basically a largeish personal pizza. I tried to leave some for the next day to make it feel more cost-effective, but couldn't do it (plus side, it WAS really tasty). Also, ordered the gluten-free crust, which was good. But, really, if I want to pay $17 for one meal, its not going to be take out pizza. Sadly, it seems I will never taste it again, since I just can't imagine justifying the price.

Neighborhood pizza? Yes. NY pizza? No. Is it good? It's pretty good. I've had a white pie from them, and a few regular pies with some toppings. This is more of a "thin crust" type pizza, but not thin in the sense of a NY pie where the crust around the outside of it is a little puffy, crunchy, and chewy at the same time; it's more of a thin like a thin crust, low-carb type of deal (but not liek cardboard). Flavor-wise, it is good, and it is more of a unique kind of pizza that you sort of have to let go of any pre-conceived ideas about pizza (if you're as picky about a good pie as I am, I'm sure any NY/NJ folks out there would agree), before you can really enjoy it. All in all, I would recommend this place over most pizza restaurants in Denver. Not bad at all.

After being inundated with Basil Doc's ad recently on 760 am, the GF and I decided to pick up a pie recently. I have still Not found the Holy Grail of Denver pizza. And judging by the slew of four star reviews the Wash Park location has gotten from fellow Yelpers I'm starting to wonder if there is one in the Mile High City. As they say on Yelp, "Meh. I've experienced better", not much better in this sorry assed town for pizza, though. I think we need to start demanding better of a nearly twenty five dollar pie, people! I know rent's high in the Wash Park area, but I came in at about 8pm on a tuesday, no other orders on the oven, two guys millin' about, and received a burnt out pizza with barely any meat. Like I'm talkin' two measley pieces of beef on each slice of a large (All-American). The flavor of the pie would've been pretty decent otherwise. Cheesey bread was good though. Still think Wyman is best for dine-in, and Walnut room for delivery... Will someone open a freakin' Happy Joe's out here already!

So I stopped by for a pizza as I was driving by. The pizza was good, not great. The middle was soggy and the crust was burnt. I would give food a 2.5 stars and service 4, bringing my total to 3. The other thing is it was on the expensive side. Come to think about it, really expensive. I would eat here again, but would not go out of my way for the pie.

On Saturday, I was a complete waste of carbon. A Friday night full of drinks and music at the Skylark (see review for details), followed by some late night pranks (sorry again Sheila), and Saturday was a bit of a trial. Like a good American, I woke up early to watch the Redeem Team beat Spain. After that, I fell victim to lack of sleep, lack of liquids, and ideal nap weather (rain, overcast, cold, August day) and slept for, no lie, 6 hours. After waking up, I felt terrible and needed pizza. Now, I just got back from my annual trip to Chicago and honestly that usually ruins me for at least a month. I like the pizza there just SO much better. However, after reading all the pizza tour comments, and also taking a suggestion from Lori about Wymans (closest she could recommend to Chicago style), I decided in head, heart, and soul, that I needed pizza. I called Wyman's 3 times, and kept getting a busy signal. I know I'm kind of oldish, but when is the last time you called anywhere and got a busy signal, much less 3 times in a 30 minute span? Do you realize that there is a whole generation that isn't all that familiar with a busy signal? Anyway, I took the busy signals as a sign from the Gods, and decided to order from my old standby, Basil Doc's. Basil Doc's has a selection of toppings that is truly impressive. I don't order it, but there aren't many places you can get shrimp, or capers, or clams on pizza. I decided to go with my old standby, the pesto pizza. Now, this pizza is unlike any pesto pizza I have ever had. It's more of a (excuse me Dave Navarro and Eric Avery) Deconstructed pesto pizza. By that mean, the pizza does not technically have any pesto on it, and my parenthetical comment refers to the awesome one album wonder Deconstruction, but that is neither here nor there. The first time I ordered this was years ago, and I was shocked, no, flummoxed (I think I have had one too many) after seeing the pizza, and more specifically the whole basil leaves on the pizza. You see, instead of putting actual pesto on this pizza, Basil Doc's takes the whole ingredients of pesto and covers a pizza. Your pie will have chunky tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh garlic, and pine nuts in addition to the whole basil leaves. The flavors just jump off the pizza, and in turn destroyed my hangover. Also, I now have a bit of a pine nut fetish now. Maybe I had to pick the pizza up (no delivery = minus one star), sausage pizza is a miracle to me, and the sausage is just OK here. However, Basil Doc's is my fave pizza in Denver (I still have a lot to check out, so don't judge me). Although, Basil Doc's did not exactly scratch the itch I was experiencing, it sure was good. For me, Basil Doc's is to Chicago pizza what methadone is to heroin, but that is a whole other conversation. I just REALLY wish they delivered.

Good place to grab some pizza to take home, often I just order a slice or two which happens to be HUGE. I like the thin crust and sausage pizza with mushroom. There are some pizza places I prefer around the area, but Basil Docs has it's own flavor and worth a try.

I really love pizza and was pretty excited to try this place out since it is only a few blocks from my home. I ordered a chicken pizza expecting something amazing. The pizza was good initially while it was warm; however reheated for lunch the next day it was terrible. It was beyond tough, I ended up throwing what was left away. I recognize their pizzas are gluten free which may be what contributed to next day toughness, but For the price it just isn't worth it to me, especially if the leftovers are inedible.

You see, instead of putting actual pesto on this pizza, Basil Doc's takes the whole ingredients of pesto and covers a pizza. Your pie will have chunky tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh garlic, and pine nuts in addition to the whole basil leaves. The flavors just jump off the pizza, and in turn destroyed my hangover. Also, I now have a bit of a pine nut fetish now. Maybe I had to pick the pizza up (no delivery = minus one star), sausage pizza is a miracle to me, and the sausage is just OK here. However, Basil Doc's is my fave pizza in Denver (I still have a lot to check out, so don't judge me). Although, Basil Doc's did not exactly scratch the itch I was experiencing, it sure was good. For me, Basil Doc's is to Chicago pizza what methadone is to heroin, but that is a whole other conversation. I just REALLY wish they delivered.

Good place to grab some pizza to take home, often I just order a slice or two which happens to be HUGE. I like the thin crust and sausage pizza with mushroom. There are some pizza places I prefer around the area, but Basil Docs has it's own flavor and worth a try.

The pizza is fabulous. When I need a pizza fix, this is the place. Thin crust with non packaged sauce and fresh ingredients for toppings. The delivery always shows up with warm pizza.

Basil Docs offers incredibly yummy gourmet pizza - my favorite in town. However, their pizza boxes are surprising sub par. I recommend eating nearby as my pizzas are often lukewarm by the time I make the ~15 minute drive home.

Average pizza at a steep price. Better off going to, or ordering from, a restaurant in the neighborhood where you will receive better pizza and superior customer service.

$30 for a basic large 3-topping pizza? On top of that, my friend and I both got food poisoning from our order. A very bad experience.

I really love pizza and was pretty excited to try this place out since it is only a few blocks from my home. I ordered a chicken pizza expecting something amazing. The pizza was good initially while it was warm; however reheated for lunch the next day it was terrible. It was beyond tough, I ended up throwing what was left away. I recognize their pizzas are gluten free which may be what contributed to next day toughness, but For the price it just isn't worth it to me, especially if the leftovers are inedible.
