I am a big wood fired pizza fan and Basil Doc's has the best in the area. All of their ingredients are high quality making the price very reasonable (yes, it is more than the big box delivery places, but you get what you pay for!). The crust is thin, but not so thin that it is like a cracker, it is a great crust with the right amount of crunch. We always get the large pizza and it is HUGE. Easily enough for 5-6 people. We pick this up about once a month, especially when we have guests over for a casual evening and it is always a hit. To me, the previous complaints about delivery are irrelevant as they do not deliver, and any delivery purchased is through a third party and not reflective of the restaurant itself.

NEVER again. I ordered from here and have been waiting over two hours. After receiving confirmation that my order was on its way, it NEVER showed. It's 10pm and we have no dinner. The menu looked interesting but I'd rather order from a place that I'm sure will show up.

I'm shocked by the bad reviews this place has gotten, but I've noticed that a few people that only gave one star are complaining about a thick crust...Basil Doc's does only thin crust pizza. Anyway, pizza is truly one of my favorite foods and I love Basil Doc's. The ingredients are always fresh, the pizza is always cooked perfectly and most importantly it's delicious. I always order a spinach and feta pizza, and I've never been disappointed. I only gave four stars because the service isn't outstanding. I've never been treated badly, but the guys who take the orders (and make the food) are never super friendly. Basil Doc's is counter service only, so don't go expecting to be waited on, and honestly, this bothers me only because I've been involved with the restaurant industry for over 12 years, so I'm a bit picky when it comes to customer service.

I've been getting pizza here for a while now and I've always thought of it to be very good. I'm surprised to see how it's rated poorly on yelp. While I agree they are overpriced for what you get the pizza has always been delicious. Maybe it's been a while since I've gone and they have went down hill in quality.

We LOVE Basil Doc's. Great pizza, and the owner has been super supportive of our school, which is in the same community. Gotta love a guy who not only helps out a public school, but also makes tasty good pizza pies, too.

I went in with pretty low expectations, so it wasn't hard for Basil Doc's to succeed, but they did so splendidly. First the ladyfriend and I had a gluten free number, as we're getting ready to go gluten free (because we're crazy) and they advertise having gluten free pies. You know, it wasn't bad. It's different -- but Basil Docs found a way to make it tasty. I think it was the quality (and abundant) toppings. Some meat, some cheese, some veggies -- sounds like my perfect woman! Wait, no...it doesn't. Anyway, I went back again a week or so later. As we all know the requisite payment to friends for helping you move is pizza and beer. The pizza portion of the payment was purchase at and provided from Basil Docs. Just a large roni. I didn't think it'd be anything spectacular. Boy was I wrong. The pepperoni was the thick, almost chunky kind -- the way roni SHOULD BE. The crust said it was thin crust, but as any person who knows what pizza should be, thin crust is just a waste of dough, but this was a thin crust that had some meat to it, so that was appreciated. The seasoning in the sauce was just fantastic, and it all amounted to one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. Definitely creeping up high on the list for best quick pie in Denver. The large pizza was huge, with 12-16 very large slices. It'll cost you a little bit, that large 1 topping was $20, but that's what you pay for quality. I live just down the street from here, so I can't wait to go back! Mmm...pizza....

I wish I didn't make that mistake. I have had a lot of pizza in my life, and this is hands down one of the worst experiences I have had. I am always hesitant to give 'one star' because I do not want to ruin anyone's business, but this place is deserving of it, with no doubt. I ordered a pepperoni slice and it was NAAASTYYY. The crust was super thick, burnt, and rock-hard. Even the cheese and pepperoni were gross. I really don't understand how anyone can give this place anything higher than one star. Please...do yourself a favor and stay away from this business; poor quality restaurants don't do the public any good.

Okay... okay... it was pretty good. They have really fresh toppings, and interesting specialty pizzas. However, the dough was a bit thick for my taste (which I think makes the world of difference in a good pizza). What I usually look for in a pizza is a dough soft enough that feels like collapsing in bed after a hard day of work, yet has a good crunchy bite to it. The prices tend to be a little more expensive that other pizza parlors, but I think the sizes totally justify. A large at Basil Doc's is an XL anywhere else. Yet, that is not good enough for me to up the rating to 4 full stars. Overall, not a bad experience... Will try it again in the future over Domino's/Pizza Hut.

The story of my Basil Doc's discovery isn't that exciting. It looked like a hole-in-the-wall pizza joint, and that is where, in my opinion, the best pizza is generally found. It wasn't a Pizza Hut, a Domino's, or anything else corporate. A friend of a friend used to literally cry if, when going out for a meal, we chose any sort of mom and pop, non-corporate restaurant. Tears would form if we mentioned Sunrise Sunset instead of La Peep, Racine's in lieu of Applebee's, or Angelo's rather than The Olive Garden. Tears! I've known a few other defiantly mediocre people whose heads darn near explode if anyone in their midst disses Wal-Mart, McDonald's and Disney. When I try any mom and pop establishment for the first time, I dedicate the experience to them. You can almost hear them choking as I do. Well, this hole-in-the-wall proved to be pizza paradise. Basil Doc's is known for unusual ingredients, but don't go too long without trying their pepperoni. My standard order, pepperoni, sausage, mushroom is simply one of the best pizza's I've ever tasted. Basil Doc's pies are difficult to describe, but the flavor of the ingredients is so bold, it's like "extreme pizza." I suspect that at least half the pizza joints in the country claim their product is New York style. This phrase has come to mean absolutely nothing. Let's face it, Billy the Kid was born in New York City and Cole Porter was born in Indiana. Which one symbolizes New York? You're New York if you're New York, you're not if you're not. There's a nearby pizzeria that has New York in its name, but the pies are about as Manhattan as Sarah Palin. Basil Doc's is New York, but with its own characteristics. It's unique New York. This is my favorite Basil Doc's location, though I had a wonderful experience with the one at 3rd and Holly. Basil Doc's list of locations is a bit bizarre. They have four Denver shops, two of which are on Holly Street. What's on Holly? They also have a location in Dillon, and one in Amarillo, Texas. Of course. Anyway, I called in an order, thinking I was talking to my usual Holly and Florida location. I had actually called the 3rd and Holly Basil Doc's. I showed up at Holly/Florida and there was no pizza waiting for me. They phoned over to the 3rd and Holly shop, which agreed to stay open, despite it being closing time, until I could get to North Holly to pick up my pizza. I'm craving it as I write this. Time to go and get one.

Pleasantly surprised by this place! We we're in Glendale running errands when I remembered that Basil Docs was nearby. I have heard of it but never heard anything about it and wanted to see what it was about. Something cool about them is they offer a BOGO deal when you donate to Colorado Pblic Radio and are given a member card that you can use at different places in the area (it pays to give back!) BOGO dinner? Don't mind if I do.... We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and no one else was there. We ordered a couple of calzones (three fillings included) and a salad to split. As others mentioned, there's a counter you order from and then they box it up and let you do whatever you please. We sat outside and dined once we got our food and it was good. I'm weird and don't like when bread gets soggy so I really didn't enjoy the calzone at the moment since I was too busy trying to keep it together. Luckily their calzones are huge so I had the second half to take home and had it for lunch today. I baked in the oven at 400 degrees for 18 minutes and it was pure perfection! I got pepperoni, mushroom and goat cheese and it made my stomach sing! I may start going here to get a calzone and save it for the next day. They had a good number of pizzas too on the list so it's definitely an incentive to check them out again!

Pappa Grande reviewing... Kids welcome, but just no amenities for them. Loaded toppings, huge slices, and super friendly service. We went in today... Two Dads and four boys under five. This is primarily a take-out place. There are two small high-top tables with four high bar stools each. No high chairs and boosters obviously wouldn't work. A great setup for inhaling a slice or waiting for your order, but that's all. There are, however, two picnic tables outside for summer time hanging. Most people were just ordering to go and waiting around until it was done. Two big flat screens to enjoy the Olympics while you wait. Nonetheless, we were fairly easily able to make do, so even with the tight space it's possible, just not the easiest dining experience. And the place is reasonably childproofed for letting them wild while you finish up. On a busy evening I wouldn't recommend it though. The slices are huge, each kid split one and it was plenty. One slice for each Dad and we were set. 7 bucks/family... Good by me. The full pies did seem pricey, but if the slices are any testament, they'd be worth it. Four stars for service and quality. Missing that last star for lacking amenities... And I realize it's not meant to be a sit-down sort of place, but still... No tables, nor high chairs, no bathroom, no changing area for little ones. That stuff means the world when you're in family land. We'll definitely try a takeout pie sometime despite the cost, it wassss yummie!

The pizza is good and I was so happy I stumbled on it until this last visit. Alas, it is with a sad heart that I give this review. (Sigh) So why the bad review if the pizza was good?? Well, here goes - I'm 98% sure one of the guys working there on Saturday tried to lift my wallet and also just as sure that the other guy tried to cover for him. I pulled out my card to pay the bill and set my wallet on the counter and when I went to grab my wallet, it wasn't there. The cashier guy (a man of Mexican decent) said I didn't have a wallet when I paid. Of course, this made me question myself and I started to retrace my steps. I went back to the table, looked under the table, went through my purse and then dumped out my purse, went to my car until I stopped myself because I specifically remembered pulling my card out of my wallet. My son helped look with me, retracing my steps in and out of the restaurant including the trash and the wallet was nowhere to be found. I went back in to ask the other guy (a man of white decent) if he had seen my wallet, and he acted like he couldn't hear me. Then he asked me what the wallet looked like and if he get my number in case it did show up. There were no other businesses open and the only people present was the 4 of us - them, me and my son. I was getting agitated and commented that there was only 4 people and it was becoming clear I was going to have to call the police. Suddenly, the cashier dude miraculously found the wallet in the trash covered neatly with unused napkins, (The trash had previously been empty.) and instead of pulling the wallet out, showed me it by lifting the trash can, and then demonstrated how I must have threw the wallet in the trash as I gathered forks and napkins. However, his demonstration was flawed and failed to show how, in the unlikely event that I threw my wallet in the trash, how the unused napkins were then tossed in as well to perfectly to cover the wallet in the otherwise very clean trash can. I didn't accuse them at that point but had a strong suspicion they had just tried to pull a fast one. I made sure everything was in the wallet and am so thankful I didn't have my home address listed on any documents. Pretty bold of them to do but if you eat here, take care of your pocket book.

Great pizza, too expensive!! I'll keep it short and sweet...I've never had anything but a good pizza from here (ok, maybe one time it was a little overdone and dry), but the more I think about it, they are just too expensive. Last night I ordered a small pepperoni pizza...nothing special and enough for 2 adults that are kind of hungry.....it was just over $15! No delivery charges or anything....we picked it up. It just seems like it should have been around $10 for a pizza that size and that simple.

I ordered their new Panino sandwich to try it out. They are listed online for $7, but when I picked it up, they charged $8. We specifically asked for cheese, which comes on it if you order 3 toppings instead of 4 (which we did). Got home and there was no cheese. Just some toppings thrown on a nearly burned french roll. I went back to the table, looked under the table, went through my purse and then dumped out my purse, went to my car until I stopped myself because I specifically remembered pulling my card out of my wallet. My son helped look with me, retracing my steps in and out of the restaurant including the trash and the wallet was nowhere to be found. I went back in to ask the other guy (a man of white decent) if he had seen my wallet, and he acted like he couldn't hear me. Then he asked me what the wallet looked like and if he get my number in case it did show up. There were no other businesses open and the only people present was the 4 of us - them, me and my son. I was getting agitated and commented that there was only 4 people and it was becoming clear I was going to have to call the police. Suddenly, the cashier dude miraculously found the wallet in the trash covered neatly with unused napkins, (The trash had previously been empty.) and instead of pulling the wallet out, showed me it by lifting the trash can, and then demonstrated how I must have threw the wallet in the trash as I gathered forks and napkins. However, his demonstration was flawed and failed to show how, in the unlikely event that I threw my wallet in the trash, how the unused napkins were then tossed in as well to perfectly to cover the wallet in the otherwise very clean trash can. I didn't accuse them at that point but had a strong suspicion they had just tried to pull a fast one. I made sure everything was in the wallet and am so thankful I didn't have my home address listed on any documents. Pretty bold of them to do but if you eat here, take care of your pocket book.

Good big hot slice of pizza and a coke for $5 served in five minutes what more could you ask for. The place is not very big but does have an outside patio with afternoon shade for seating.

Great pizza, too expensive!! I'll keep it short and sweet...I've never had anything but a good pizza from here (ok, maybe one time it was a little overdone and dry), but the more I think about it, they are just too expensive. Last night I ordered a small pepperoni pizza...nothing special and enough for 2 adults that are kind of hungry.....it was just over $15! No delivery charges or anything....we picked it up. It just seems like it should have been around $10 for a pizza that size and that simple.

I ordered their new Panino sandwich to try it out. They are listed online for $7, but when I picked it up, they charged $8. We specifically asked for cheese, which comes on it if you order 3 toppings instead of 4 (which we did). Got home and there was no cheese. Just some toppings thrown on a nearly burned french roll. Dry. Fail.

Awful Pizza. Thick undercooked - soggy crust ! Hardly any toppings. The salat arrived without hearts of palms. Sent a mail to Manager no reply.
