Is it possible that those claiming this is the best NY pizza outside of NY have no clue what NY pizza is? Yes. Indeed it's probable. This is OK pizza, but a far cry from NY pizza and for not-NY-pizza, it's still pretty meh.

This place is small and kind of a dump. The pizza was okay, but not worth it if your eating it in the dining room. We both got a piece of Sicilian style pizza with and extra topping. They re-heated the pizza after adding the custom toppings which is typical of the "pizza-by-the-slice" order but the base pizza had been sitting out for a bit too long. The crust seemed a little stale and didn't take to the re-heat very well. The sauce and cheese was very good but I wish the base slice was a little fresher because it could have been really good with some fresher dough. Eating in the dining room killed the experience. None of the tables were remotely clean, the floor was also very dirty and the walls had stains on them. The seating was not very comfortable either. Get the pizza to go and hope for a fresher slice.

We had a group of mommies come to Upstairs Circus for some much needed no kid time....at 8:00pm on the dot we ordered a 12" pepperoni pizza. Simple right? The kid showed up at 9:34pm with it and had the nerve to answer "yes" when I asked if it was even warm. Grossest pizza I have ever had. Like seriously, rubber. I've had pizza sit overnight that looked better. Will never order from here again!

I took a quick stop here during my recent trip to Denver. I only had two slices--plain, and mushroom. The pizza was on the thin side with the mazza like thin crust. I cannot really say much else, but the place seemed to have a regualr following with a Seattle-like atmosphere. Pizza is truly the universal American dish!

I was looking for a cheap and quick lunch option while in town setting up for a conference. I grabbed a slice of pepperoni and a salad. The pizza slice was large, so one was plenty for me. The salad wasn't anything fancy. I got the Caesar salad and it wasn't much, but the lettuce was fresh and the dressing was decent. Add in a fountain drink and lunch was under $10. The dining room wasn't much, but I have a feeling most of their business is to-go. I'd go back.

If I went by the other reviews, we would have missed a very tasty lunch. The plan was to go to Tommy's Subs, but they are closed on Mondays. Bummer, sad panda face, etc. Plan B - we ordered 2 meatball subs, an Italian sausage sub and kids noodles. Not pizza, but my mom in law had a hankering for a sub. We called in the order, the polite youngster on the other end gave us the total and it was ready 20 minutes later. The food was good, hot and tasty! I know that it's a pizza place, but the subs shouldn't be missed.

Had neopolitan cheese pizza and it was out of this world. Delicious sauce, love the thin crust, and huge pieces you can fold in half. They deliver which is a plus for a tired business traveler such as myself. Highly recommend!

A group of my girlfriends and I were at a nearby craft boutique and ordered 1 pizza and a salad from Anthony's. The order arrived nearly 2 hours later and the pizza was hard and cold! I have always loved Anthony's pizza but am extremely disappointed with them! Never going to order from this location again!

If you order a whole pizza, Anthony's is pretty good - slices are another story. Giant pies coming out for people who've ordered cheese slices, and yet I get two overheated pieces slightly burned and with the consistency and taste akin to cardboard. That after a 20 minute wait - the NY'er in me is still in disbelief. That along with the colorful characters that come in and out of the shop, not necessarily customers, have convinced me to always order delivery.

Family and I were in Denver and looking for some cost effective eats and came across Anthony's via yelp. Omg. The pizza is delicious. Some of the best I have ever had. If ever one of these open in Ohio we will make it a regular stop and next time we are in Denver we will definitely be stopping by for more. Delicious!!!

The only thing NY about this place are their crappy attitudes. Not every employee acts jaded, miserable and reluctant to take your order but I've had plenty of experiences that were just that. The pizza here is not that great. They claim to have NY style pizza but the cheese and the crust are scraping by at bare minimum to even call it pizza, even for Neapolitan it's lacking. They also have a knack for leaving the pizza in the oven for too long, which turns the extremely thin Neapolitan pizza into a burnt cracker with tomato sauce showing through the sparse cheese. After finding that out I switched to the Sicilian which has more cheese and crust but when left in the oven for too long turns into a chewy mess which happens often. Also another thing to mention is the fact that the place generally isn't very clean. In the ordering area, the dining room and the kitchen. I couldn't believe the amount of dough, flour and trash on the floor when there were 2 trash cans behind the counter literally a foot from where everyone was working. This place really has me missing the mom and pop shops that take pride in what they're doing that I'm used to in NY.

The pizza is excellent great New York style thin. However the people behind the counter should be given a lesson in personal skills. I waited 10 minutes standing at the counter with several other people who were waiting to order with not so much as even a glance from the 2 people behind the counter. It seemed that filling little cups of salad dressing were more important than taking orders. I can understand being busy and maybe not getting right to us bit when the staff is doing "prep" work during the lunch rush there is clearly something wrong. Even the pizza maker was just standing there. I probabaly won't come back to this location as there are too many other fine choices downtown to eat that have good food at decent prices with better service.

Pretty cool pizza shop, staff seemed cool as well. Ordered a large meatball pizza and a large farmer salad to go, the wait wasn't too bad even though they were very busy. Good pizza and salad!

A great NY style pizza with huge slices, only needed one slice to fill me up. Sauce was good, added pineapple and canadian bacon to mine which added some sweetness. Crust was a a bit dry and crunchy. Got the garlic bread with cheese appetizer, 4 huge pieces were soft in the middle with a crunchy outside. Nice seating area upstairs with plenty of room.

For lunch, I wanted an eggplant parm sub. The Anthony's near my house serves them, so I assumed these guys would too. When I went to set up my order for delivery, I noticed that this location does not have that sub, so I decided to go with salad and pizza instead. I really wish I hadn't. I placed my order online for my salad and two slices of cheese pizza. The estimated wait time on delivery was about an hour. A few minutes after placing and paying for the order, I get a call from someone at the store that says since their location is so small, they don't deliver slices. He did offer that I come pick up the slices and he would give me a 10% discount. I went to the location which was hard to find because they don't have a sign that you can see from 16th street. Once I got there, I waited in line for about 15 minutes and find out that they are doing $1 dollar slices today. When I finally got to the front of the line, they did not give me the 10% discount or $1 dollar slices, they were charging me the full price. When I mentioned that they were over charging me, I received terrible attitude from the lady behind the register. She shrugged her shoulders and said that the system registered the slices at full price. FINALLY the man standing next to her said to void the original charge and re-run it. I simply could not believe the nasty attitude that I received as a paying customer who went out of my way to pick up an order that should have been delivered. When I got back to work and started on my salad, the vegetables were not fresh at all, the mushrooms were disgusting and they gave me the wrong dressing. I really didn't think that ranch was a difficult dressing to get right. The pizza is over-cooked and not great. With all of the great pizza options downtown, I will never order from this Anthony's again. I could not have had a worse experience.

Anthony's Pizza & Pasta was great. I had the Pepperoni pizza, buffalo wings, and garlic bread with cheese. Pepperoni pizza was awesome!.(FYI the pizza is really big) The pizza is New York style pizza. Buffalo wings were not that spicy when we got them but in temperature was very hot. They were somewhat small for buffalo wings. Garlic bread with cheese was awesome! The cheese was very good. The bread wasn't to crisp. When I went to sit down some of the tables were dirty. They bring the food to you. The workers behind the counter were very nice. P.S They hand flip the pizza dough.

Delicious Pizza. Delivery was on-time and pizza was still hot enough (like with any delivery it will never be oven hot.) The sauce had a touch too much acidity compared to some authentic za's I've had in NY, however I am definitely not an expert, by any means. Not greasy. Good crust. Overall great.

Popped in for a quick slice at lunch. It wasn't too packed, and we got a seat upstairs. Pizza was excellent. We each got a slice with lights sauce, pepperoni and garlic. We also split a Caesar salad which was perfect size for two. For the price, two people got easily eat under $15. Very fresh pizza and within walking distance from the Hyatt Regency and Convention Center. We will most likely eat there again before we leave town. Great thing crust pizza.

As a born and bred New Yorker, I'm picky about my pizza. That goes double when the place says they serve New York pizza. Anthony's, however, gets it mostly right. The cheese and sauce are spot-on. The crust is close, but actually a bit THINNER than real NY pizza. But it's definitely acceptable. They also passed my "secret test", in that they offered shakers of garlic powder to sprinkle on your slice - as a real NY pizza place MUST do in order to be taken seriously. Plus I got 2 slices and a drink for $6 - a far cry from all the frou-frou places around here that serve "pizza" with 16 different cheeses and toss silly items like mustard aioli (or whatever) just so they can charge you $20 for a pie. I'd rather have one good cheese than 5 crappy ones (and make it mozzarella, please. "Cheddar" and "pizza" don't belong in the same sentence!) All in all, Anthony's gets a thumbs up from this finicky ex-New Yorker!

This place at one time was awesome. I don't know what has happened but the pizza tastes like floppy under cheesed nothingness. The employees spend their free time throwing garlic knots at their delivery driver as he comes and goes across the street. Maybe if they spent more time tending to their pies this review would have been different. And yes. They actually chuck garlic knots... No joke.

Stopped in here grabbing something to eat on a cold, drizzly spring day headed to a movie sneak preview. Wanted a slice of sausage pizza -- they were out of sausage. The counter guy suggested meatball. Great, no problemo here, I was hungry. Got it in a box container that I had to ask for. Slightly pricey. What I thought I was getting: a slice of pizza, pie-piece shaped, with sauce and cheese and topping on it. What I got: about an 8-9" long, 4-5" wide, 1"+ thick rectangular brick-shaped piece of (admittedly tasty) crunchy/chewy pizza bread with very light sauce, cheese almost tossed on as an afterthought (very light), and some meatball slices. Did it satisfy? Well, yeah, was starving at that point. Was it what I expected? No...I've been at another Anthony's which was up near Westminster Mall, and they served standard pizza slices, so...kind of an unexpected surprise. But should have had more toppings on for what I paid for it...

I liked this place a lot. Warning! The pizza slices are very large and a little hard to eat! But the pizza is so good! Thet even jand tossed the pizza. We also had the garlic bread with cheese on it. I recomend getting the garlic bread with the mozzerella cheese on it because it adds much more flavor to the bread. For desert, I had a chocolate canoli and it was the best thing I've ever eaten. Like ever! Great place for everyone.

This would've been one of my favorite little pizza places downtown had my experience the other day not been so bad. I walked in, and while there were a few people waiting, the place wasn't excessively swamped with business. Which means there was no reason to warrant such a sour face from my cashier. I ordered from the guy next to her who was helping out and when it came time to pay, I told her I got the 2 slices of cheese lunch special, paid, and she moved on quickly to the next person without giving me a cup for my drink. I looked at my receipt and she had actually charged me what ended up being a 75 cents less than the price on the wall, so I waited for her to finish ringing up the next couple people and handed her my card and mentioned that she forgot to charge me for the drink. Instead of just making the difference in cost which would have been under a dollar, I got charged $2 MORE than the price of the entire lunch special, and had a rude cashier huffing at me being such an inconvenience to her. I went upstairs and had my lunch and one of the employees was emptying the trash while talking to a friend or guest he knew. He was completely blocking the stairs and was telling a story. After multiple "excuse me"s he finally stopped whatever story he was telling to the person and realized I existed and then moved out of my way. It's kind of annoying to pay more than the posted price of a special due to an employee error only to be at a place where the staff makes it how evident it is that you're inconveniencing them by supporting their business. Or wait, is that suppoesd to be the "New York" part of the pizza? Anyway, I won't be back here again and competition is fierce - I'll be sure to tell others to go to one of the many other pizza places downtown.

If you are looking for huge New York style slices, then I recommend Anthony's. I've always had it delivered and it's hot, delicious and super cheesy. Definitely want to go for lunch to order it by the slice. Yum.

It's a great option for a quick bite. The pizza is very NY style and they don't skimp on toppings. No frills just good classic za. Friendly staff and a small seating area upstairs. Since they cleaned the place up it looks much better when you walk in. The only downside would be the vagrants and people milling for the light rail right outside. However, when you step inside its easy to forget about all that. Hungry and craving some NY pizza? This is the place.

The downtown Denver location of this franchise. Not bad at all. There are subtle differences to the various Anthonys around town. I attribute most of that to the seasoning of the ovens, as the sauces, crusts and general style seems to be consistent. I think these places are all independently owned and operated, so that is saying something about the brand. This is a decent representation of New York style pie by the slice. They also have Sicilian style and the standard fountain drinks. This location is jammed into a small building that has a built out loft space as the dining area. The staff was on their game and efficiently helped the throng of business casual diners during the lunch rush. If slices are what you crave, try Anthony's downtown.

This place is legit! A lot of places describe themselves as "New York-style pizza", but seldom actually fit the bill. That's not the case with Anthony's Pizza and Pasta -- this place's pizza actually has the most NY-style like pizza I've had outside of New York. The slices are big, cheap, and delicious. The crust is thin, but hearty and crispy. The best part is that the pizza isn't as greasy as most of the pizzas you often get in hole-in-the-wall places. The staff, although a little bit intimidating at times, is perfectly nice and amicable -- I've had a good experience every time I've interacted with them. Even the add-ons you find in the jar -- that is, the oregano, chili flakes, and parmesan -- are pretty fresh and tasty. I was expecting stale, gross herbs that didn't really have any flavor, but the chili pepper is actually pretty spicy! My one complaint is the store itself is a little gross. The eating area is upstairs above the oven, and it's obvious that it seldom gets clean -- the tabletops are sticky and covered in pizza crumbs. But no matter. It is a hole-in-the-wall pizza joint, right? I'll take the tradeoff of delicious, cheap pizza with crumby tabletops any day.

Anthony's Pizza is good pizza for those who like good, greasy pizza. Isn't that the best pizza anyway? High quality cheese, which is what makes it greasy. They run great slice, drink and salad specials. Tough location right now with all of the construction going on, but worth the efforts to get to. They also deliver!

Downtown pizza that was quick and tasty. Late Lunch time was dead-about 4-6 people in line. I got two slices and a pop and it was very good. If I am here again looking for a slice of very good ny style pizza, this is the place!

As a guest to Denver for the first time, originally from the east coast, I had high hopes for this hole-in-the wall joint. Looking in the window from outside all you see is a counter separating the pe3ople ordering from the pizza oven and cash register. That's about all there is. Upstairs is seating for less than 40 people. Who cares? The pizza was spot on with nice thin crust without being like a cracker. Sauce had flavor and the price for lunch (2 slices with 1 topping and a soda for $6) can't be beaten. My wife had the $7 lunch- salad, slice with one topping, and a soda. I expected a chunk of iceburg lettuce with some carrot shavings. Turned out she was pretty pleased with the Romaine lettuce, tomatoe slices, green olives, mozzarella cheese offering that she was presented with. This is a great "budget lunch" spot. The fact that the pizza was great is a huge bonus!

This place gets a 5 star just because they have Sicilians!!!! Being that I'm from NY and has been living in CA for the past almost 9 years, I only see Sicilian's when I go back to visit. This place totally reminded me of a pizzeria back in Brooklyn. Looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but when you walk in the smells hit you. I loved their pizza. The sauce was excellently flavored. There was upstairs seating. The cashiers were very pleasant. If I wasn't with my co-worker and sensitive about looking like a pig I would have had 2 pieces :)

As New York style pizza goes, I have to say it was pretty darn good. It was a big slice, foldable and had a nice outer crunch to the dough...just the way I like it. And as in true NY fashion, the place is tiny with a small eating area upstairs. I believe each Anthony's is independently owned and operated so I've heard quality and service can vary from location to location. But I was told by a former Denver native that this location in downtown is the best one.

I ordered a slice and asked for green olives and mushrooms. They took a piece of cheese pizza and put the toppings on top and put it in the oven for about 2 min. When they gave it to me the mushrooms where raw still. It was not good. It looked like if you ordered a whole pizza it would be good but my slice was semi-cold, the toppings were just thrown on top and raw. Disappointing.

My husband and I agreed that during our short stay in downtown Denver, this was by far the best restaurant experience we had. The pizza was just as expected and greasy like everyone said, but a decent slice of pie. What really made the experience great was the restaurant was very cozy, well-lit, and just an overall good place to have a conversation. Service was great and the bartender was really nice and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. Like I said, food was nothing extraordinary, but the experience was fun and we sure wish we had one in our town!

I live right by an Anthony's in Centennial and it has never impressed. So when I worked a temp job downtown, I thought YES this is my chance to get some amazing Anthony's pizza! Unfortunately, my pizza fell short of amazing. :( It was very saucy and didn't have a lot of cheese on it. Customers slices coming out after mine were looking so much better. Anthony's disappointed me this time, but I will definitely give them a try again when I am down there. And no matter what they will always be better than Pizza Hut, Dominos etc!

You know when you're famished and you think your Yelp rating on a place will be high, but really, you were just hungry and tired of driving?This is one of those situations. I ordered one NY style piece and one "Sicilian" style piece (which looked like thick breadsticks lined up in a pudgy row) and the garlic breadsticks for good meausure. The NY's crust was good but Sicilian pizza was burnt on the bottom and only had a few haphazardly flung pepperoni. The garlic bread pretty much sucked. Honestly, I'd rather have Pizza Hut!

What a joke! Stopped by after a Rockies game, asked where their bathroom was and immediately was told I have to buy something in order to use the bathroom. What kinda service is that? Very rude! This restaurant was completely empty and there was no reason to treat us like that. Now I know which place to always avoid, and never tell anyone about. You suck Anthony's, looking forward to see you go out of business, maybe someone else will go in that space and treat people with some kindness. If you are looking for a decent, very cheap pizza pie kept simple I would go here. They tend to be greasy but hey thats how most like it. They also have herbs and garlic which i like, a cheesy garlic bread served by the loaf (great for sharing if you have a group or family, or even if your with one other person) I used to go here when I was low on cash because your going to get a massive amount of food for 10 bucks.

In my experience with Anthony's Pizza and Pasta, the service was not good. The employees were cussing behind the counter and yelling at customers. In their daily specials, there was a $5 special that the refused to serve us, despite the lack of an end time for that special. I encourage people not to go to Anthony's Pizza and Pasta, and to retreat to another restaurant location.

Here from our of town, needed food. Pulled out my Yelp app and found Anthony's. It was great! Got a small pizza and four big pieces of garlic bread with cheese. Staff was great too!

These guys KNOW NY-style pizza! Although I prefer the other one at the north side of 16th since it has more seating (and a bar when I'm in the mood), this location's better for take-out, especially with the convention center and all the hotels near by.

I have tried Anthony's more times then I can count or remember. Not once have I truely been impressed or blown away. Yes their slices are huge. Yes they are reasonably priced. The is best of what I feel they have to offer.

I've eaten this pizza quite a few times because I work nearby. It just doesn't cut it for me though! Yes, the slices are huge and cheap. But this is the greasiest pizza I've ever eaten in my life. Worst of all, the toppings never stay on the crust, they always slide off. I don't know whether to blame the sauce, the toppings or the crust...but I like my pizza all in one piece. Often, the crust is soggy and the cheese has cooled and hardened. What a bummer.

Even though Anthony's is (now) a chain, it's the best New York-style pizza outside of NYC. Conveniently located between the Denver Convention Center and the 16th Street Mall, the quality is high and the prices are low. The only complaint I have is the restaurant isn't huge and fills up quickly during the lunch and diner rushes.

I have to admit, I still hadn't found amazing pizza in Denver. Until yesterday when my work decided to order for the office. OH MY GOD. I don't like NY style pizza, but this is amazing. Yummmmmy. Glad I found a place to get pizza that does not include Papa John's or the like. These slices are greasy so have your paper towels ready to blot!

While every pizza is unique and distinctly different from that of the last, there is no fair comparison in flavor or passion to be found in the so called "pizza" at Anthony's Pizza and Pasta. This is the final destination my friends. To call the marvelous and downright decadent pizza found at Anthoney's anything short of perfection would, well, be a clear denial of your intelligence and ability to taste food. Other so called "pizzas" are nothing more than burning tires in comparison. Anthony's Pizza and Pasta is not only delicious but sports a warm and enjoyable environment that is right on par with that of any pizza parlor. Service is prompt and friendly. After a visit to Anthoney's prepare to die happy.

I'm from out of state...but when I came here I was impressed! This place has DAMN good NY style pizza. It looks like a normal, fast/casual type of pizza joint - sorta reminds me of a Blondie's. Anthony's serves greasy, delicious, huge, thin-crusted NY style pizza. I've been here a few times and have been pleased each time...the slices are seriously bigger than your face and the toppings are piled on in no fashionable order. It's also pretty damn cheap - $2.50 for a gigantic slice of pizza, and $.50 for each additional topping. This place deserves high ratings for being a cheap, delicious, and reasonable pizza joint. I wish they had one of these in CA to satisfy my pizza cravings!

Pro's: Awesome New York Style pizza. Exactly what I expect. Large, drippy and tasty! Cons: Delivery doesn't do this pizza justice. You have to eat it there! They really, really, REALLY need to dust the vents and such (viewable from the upstairs eating area.)

Still my favorite, especially when many downtown don't even deliver! Love the NY style... Talk about great pizza - yes real fold the slice in two kind of pizza. The Kind of pizza that leaves flour on your clothes from the dusting. Crisp crust with ozzingly good cheese. You don't have to add anything to the pizza, just cheese is awesome. As for atmosphere who cares when pies taste this good and cost less then chain delivery.

The best pizza in Denver- hands down. Anthony's does a good job of delivering New york-American pizza. Might I suggest: The sausage and pepperoni is baked under the cheese and the onions and peppers are sauteed prior to topping your slice. I also like a sausage and mushroom slice- fresh mushrooms on top of the cheese, sweet-spicy sausage underneath the cheese. It's very good pizza.

It had been a great while since I had even stepped foot into Anthony's downtown. Approx. 2 years. I had eaten at the one in Westminster and enjoyed that. Since I was working late and the wife wouldn't be home 'till very late I decided to order a pizza for a co-worker and myself and have it delivered. I requested a "Time order" asking it be delivered betweeen 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. I ordered a pepperoni and sausage at 3:47 p.m. and it was delivered at 6:23. The only reason they get one star from me is because the delivery person was within the time frame and polite. I was surprised to find when I had opened the box that between 20 and 25% of it was burned. NO!, not dark brown but burned. I do not know what was thinner the crust or the pepperoni. The cheese looked as if the pizza had been cooked at 4:00 and then allowed to sit on top of the pizza oven for nearly 2 1/2 hours. Pizza parlors talk about New York style and folding in half when you eat a slice. Any attempt to fold the slice caused the crust to crumble and fall apart. After working 8 hours I was very hungry so I decided to eat it. I don't know exactly what was salty. The barely there cracker crust, the sauce, or the cheese. I am sure my blood pressure paid the price for eating what I could of the two slices. Do NOT recommend this particular Anthony's. For the money I would have been better off ordering from Pizza Hut or Papa Johns.

came for a quick dinner. the slices are LARGE--very tasty. i ordered 2 plain thin crust slices and it definitely filled me up--one would have not been enough. the place was a little dirty--not sure the workers enjoyed keeping it clean. but if you're looking to grab and go or get a quick meal from a non-chain restaurant it's legit.

When you're in Denver, if you're craving a slice of thin crust NY style pizza, Anthony's is my usual go-to place. They're all over town, and I've tried the ones downtown, Lakewood, and out by Cherry Creek mall. All about the same in quality. It's a greasy slice, but in general the flavor and crust is spot on for what I'm looking for. Prices are reasonable. About $6-7 for two slices with a topping and a medium drink. I do have to put this proper perspective though - we're still talking about NY style pizza in Colorado. And it's not the "real thing". I'd much prefer a pizza from NYC or NJ.

Excellent pizza! We arrrived at 16th st and my wife's Blackberry Yelp pointed us to our first snack destination. We each had a slice of the regular pizzas (I asked about Sicilian but they were out) and were both pleased. Perfect taste and crispy texture. It was advertised as "New York style" but we haven't had enough pizza in New York to verify how true this is. Either way we were happy and were eager to try it again.

I love this place. Living in Boulder for five years, I've had to put up with mediocre at best pizza for way too long. Anthony's is easily the best pizza I've had this side of the Mississippi. While the pies are better than slices overall, the slices are still incredible. I used to mix it up with toppings, but lately have been stuck on canadian bacon and pinneapple, unbeatable.

What is it that everyone wants when they are in a city - meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike? Pizza. Yes, all of the previously mentioned will eat Pizza, with different ingredients obviously, but every pizza eater should head to the same spot - Anthony's. Anthony's delivers the style of pizza that all taste buds crave. You feel good about making your taste buds and wallet happy when eating at Anthony's. It has a great location right off the 16th Street Mall and it's door is steps away from a Light Rail stop. If you venture into the city and grab an Anthony's Pizza, you won't be disappointed. Remember, sprinkle some oregano to compliment the pizza too!

Anthony's is an independently owned franchise, so each location's pizza and atmosphere can (and probably will) be different. The Anthony's by my house has changed hands three times in the past 5 years, and each time the pizza has gotten worse (in my opinion). Anthony's is a thicker dough, softer pizza with sweet sauce with artificial cheese. They are no match for NY/NJ/Boston style true pizza. If you are expecting that kind of pizza this is not the place for you. Their cheese is artificial and average on taste at best - you can tell real mozzarella by the orange oil slick on "real" pizza - that is what cheese does when it is cooked. Artifical cheese just stays a nice white. Again, this place isn't bad, but youwill learn to "settle" for it when all other options are exhausted.

While the employees always seem marginally annoyed by my calling them on the phone, Anthony's is arguably the best pizza in the city. Health be damned! They use grease - and lots of it. I go to the one on Evans when I'm not in Chipotle a few doors down. Bigger is better with these guys; the 18-inch is sublime.

Another Brooklyn transplant weighing in on Anthony's. I've been living in California for 22 years now - and pizza is what I crave whenever I go back. Found Anthony's on my recent trip to Denver during the DNC, and it was delicious. I mean everything was right from the crust to the grease to the taste. And the price was right, too. The only reason I took a star off, when we arrived Saturday night, saw the posting and we were jonesing for a slice. Walked the several blocks from our downtown hotel to find them closed at 8PM!! The best pizza outside of NY. I've been going to the one on Evans (the original) since the early 1990's. I have frequented the other locations and the pizza is consistently awesome. Their attitude is another story...always annoyed and rude, like your interrupting their day. Also, delivery is shotty. Oh, well I still go there for the pizza, but I'm not tipping for that kind of treatment.

Impressed by all the good reviews I gave Anthony's a try. Well, the slices are big, and they are cheap. They are tasty, but not deserving of all the exclamation points sprinkled throughout the reviews. And, instead of putting the slices in a box, the guy put each slice on a paper plate, covered it with another paper plate, then stacked the slices on top of each other in a bag. By the time I got to my hotel, the slices had cooled, and all my extra cheese was stuck to the plate instead of the pizza. Come on, guys, you have boxes out the wazoo - use a box, and try some foil when it is 35 degrees outside and the pizza is to go.

Oh my gosh, what a fortuitous find! Delicious NY-style pizza sold by the slice from a hole in the wall sort of place, right off the 16th street shopping mall. The workers are all friendly and there is plenty of seating upstairs. And the pizza? Fresh, hot, and perfectly spiced, it was one of the best slices of pizza I've had in years. And for $2.25 a (mouthwatering) slice, one of the best bargains around.

Definitely one of the better places to get pizza at lunch. It's usually packed but they have got the counter service down. You'll be in and out in no time.
