I am a Mexican food connoisseur! Finding great authentic Mexican food around Denver is a game I love to play. 4G's is delicious! The green chile -I could and would smother anything and everything I eat! Oh and the guacamole-superb! The portions are huge and price is right. Inexpensive. The atmosphere is laid back and is a total dive! There's a full bar and Billiards in the back! I can definitely see myself coming here frequently :-)

This place has friendly service and the food came out fast but it was just so-so. I wouldn't go back, mostly b/c it's out of the way for me but also because I wasn't impressed. I had the chile rellenos and they were nothing special. Prices were good.

I've only ever been to 4 G's for lunch, but sweet sassy molassy, have I gone a lot. My family has the strange - and long - tradition of meeting here just about every Monday. If there is one restaurant I can say I've visited over 100 times, this is it. The crazy thing is, this is no anomaly. Any other regular will attest to the fact that 4 G's gets a LOT of repeat business, to the point that my family has befriended a few of the other patrons based solely on our shared interest in food smothered in green chili. The staff, too, are all familiar faces. We have known one waitress long enough to get the news of her first pregnancy, lament her loss on maternity leave, and now ask after her child upon her return. Basically, it's the Cheers of Mexican food. The food is... pretty good. The tacos al carbon is generally tasty and just about anything covered in green chili is worth ordering. The tamale's good, the fried chili relleno is good, but everything made with ground beef is so-so. They just don't ever seem to throw in enough spices in that department. My go-to dish is the standard breakfast: eggs over easy with thinly cut potatoes, obliterated with green chili and served with tortillas on the side. It typically comes with your sausage of choice, but it's pretty much the frozen premade deal mentioned in other reviews, so include it at your peril. The atmosphere is a little divey, but this includes the amenities of divey places, such as a ton of pool tables in the back room. There may be no shortage of Mexican places on Federal, but there's only one 4 G's! ....on Federal, anyway. Apparently there are, like, a couple of these places. Who'd've thought?

I've been to Four G's several times now, and have had a great experience each time. The staff are really friendly, which makes the atmosphere very cozy and comfortable, and the food is always above par. The green chili is excellent, and I highly recommend the chili rellenos and the enchiladas. And of course, the deals they offer (fajita plates-2 for $20, free margarita with purchase of dinner-Saturday night) are outstanding. If you haven't tried it yet, check it out tonight!

Straight forward good Mexican food. You MUST try the chicken enchilada. Don't know what they do to the chicken, but flavor is amazing. Other dishes we ate were also tasty, but chicken steals the show!

Lovely cavernous dining room with a friendly staff. There is something so...I don't know...ineffably comforting and warm about the place. Like you're at home with your family. Inexpensive and the food is very good. I have been working right across the street from this place (Colorado Heights University) and can't believe it took me so long to find them. They have another location on Colorado which is nearer where I live. I'll definitely check it out.

Blech! I just hope I don't get sick from eating here. The first couple of bites weren't bad. It wasn't until I got to the relleno inside of the burrito that I noticed a weird taste. After a couple more bites, I opened the relleno to check it out, wondering why it tasted so funny. It looked like there was meat inside of it even though it was just a chili and cheese relleno. What, did you guys fish it out of the trash can and put it into my burrito? Gross!

I feel kinda bad giving 4G's two stars because our server was absolutely fantastic - SO polite, attentive and cute. The food, however, was sub-par. The chips and salsa ($2! Rip off) were bland and not at all fresh-tasting. I opted for the chicken fajitas ($8.50), and was disappointed by both the quality and the amount of chicken (45% onion, 35% pepper, 20% chicken, by my estimation). The rice was a little crunchy, and the refried beans were cold and super thick. Very good guacamole though, I have to admit. His chilli rellenos ($5.50) were bland, with very little cheese. Portions were on the small side too. Given the quality of the food, the limited menu options (you won't spend ages perusing the menu at this place), and the amount of other Mexican restaurants in the area, I won't be giving 4G's another try.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! too many people I know have gotten food poisoning from this place even though I have tried to warn them they still go there and now they have learned their lesson. I went here a couple of times, but then I saw them clean off the table of the people next to us that just left and all they did was wipe the rim of the salsa bowl and leave it there for the next customers. I almost threw up in my mouth (probably would have tasted better) I have never been back. Don't go!

4 G's is awesome! I have been eating Mexican food in Denver for over 40 years and this place is one of the top on my list. The price is good the service is excellent and the food is delicious. As far as the clientele being sketchie, well, many people in the hood surrounding 4 G's are poor people. It's a family run business, kind of an every mans diner so if you want classy don't go there but if you want good, it's the place.

I only eat here at lunch. With that said, food is edible, nothing fantastic, wait staff is attentive, and good value for the money. The parking lot is kinda dirty. One good thing, you will not have to rub shoulders with power lunching lawyers, corporate lackeys and thier ilk, or JohnnyRados (young, rich and geared up in $400.00 spandex outfits sporting that stupid fucking square eyewear). AAHHH I feel better already, anyway, 4 stars you say? Yup, good service food value for the money and a gritty location that screams Studs Terkel.

When the half-mile trek to Longshots just seemed like too much of an effort to complete, either because it was absolutely freezing, or because drunkenly walking a half mile back home seemed too daunting, there was "always Four G's." I have a soft spot for this place, because its across the street from the Americorps training campus on S. Federal and I think I may have gone there maybe..... every other night for drinks? Now that a few years have past, I feel this place needs at least one positive review. The clientele is most definitely a little sketchy, but sitting around the bar on a Tuesday night with a bunch of friends is one of the greatest memories I have from my entire corps year. The bartenders were attentive, friendly, offered us free drinks.... the service can't be beat. The food wasn't the best (boo on the chile relleno :(, but don't come for that. Come for the shots, the margaritas, some belly-filling mexican desserts. I swear, the weird stares and sketchy bar patrons will start to look like interior design after a while. :)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
