My dad loves the Ute Coffee Shop. And I admit it has a cool appear as a sort of truck stop type diner. It's part of the Ute Native American region. I've been here twice, but can only review this latest visit as it is fresh in my head. I had the Ute Burger Special for about $8 which was ham and a burger and swiss cheese, along with the usual lettuce/pickle stuff, and potato salad (or fries). My dad ate something pretty fattening and fried, but I forget what it was, and his girlfriend ordered up a Mexican plate with tacos and some chips and salsa (the salsa was tasty; chips just felt like they were bagged). It's decent really. Not outstanding. It's what you expect- not the best food ever, not the freshest type ingredients, but you are guaranteed a good meal. The pies are DELICIOUS

Don't go here. Food is overpriced and dumb. Vibe is cool though if you like 1960's diner feel with 2015 pricing. Outlets didn't work.

I wasn't fazed when we wandered in and discovered this place was last decorated during the Johnson Administration, possibly by LBJ himself given all the signs urging folks to "Eat More Beef" and the cattle-brand stencil border. No, I love a good truck stop, where you sit on bockety vinyl seats and feast on hearty, homey fare. Ute's gets the environment right, but the food here misses by a mile. I knew I was in trouble when I sat down and ordered grapefruit juice and was informed they only serve apple and orange. Which is fine, but the menu doesn't offer apple, and does list grapefruit, v8, and tomato so either they don't manage their supply very well or their menu needs updating, too. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet thinking it was a safe choice - how do you screw up eggs? Here's how: overstuff it with rubbery, flavorless cheese, and serve it with a side of not-crispy, lukewarm hash browns. Others in my group liked their meals better, so the French toast may be a good option. The coffee wasn't very good either but there was a waitress whose sole function seemed to be walking a circuit and topping off everyone's cup, so points for that. Our waitress was friendly enough and the place is full of locals, so there may be more here than meets the eye. A glance inside the truly terrifying pie case, though, suggests they may just be there for the company.

Traveling, came for breakfast and in the middle of the order the waitress kept turning her head and talking to someone beside us. BIG surprise!!! Our order wasn't right, then the waitress got mad and sent the manager/cook to talk to us(Ha,she had her hair done up in rollers),refused to fix our order. Then we get the ck,ANOTHER big surprise, the GRATUITY was already included. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!)-:

I live in Cortez and had not been in this place in years. Upon entering the whole room got silent and all eyes were on my girlfriend and I when we walked in, a regular told us to seat ourselves and people started talking again. True story. It was like a movie scene or something. Food was good, service was great, and the biscuits and gravy may be the best in town. Ive been back several times since and it's been consistently good. They also have a bulletin board that i can hang flyers on so that keeps me going back as well.

We were traveling and hungry and this place was open. We had a standard breakfast and coffee and the waitress was very friendly and accommodating. It seemed like everyone else there were regulars. If I lived there I probably would be one too.
