The best calzones in the entire world. Also try the house hard iced tea. There is a name for it but I can't recall :) the employees are hard working and friendly. I visit every time I am in the area! 5 stars anytime.

The pizza was great! Tons of choices, a real pizza place. However, the service was on the slow side.

Who would expect an Italian place in Cortez to have gluten-free pasta? Well, this place does. Most items can be made gluten-free and the food is always good. Plus, they have a nice little patio with a a beautiful view of the plateau. I thought the owners were selling the place last year, but it's still open. Hope it stays that way! (Note: this review is for Lotsa Pasta (upstairs); I haven't been to the pizza place downstairs.)

Read the reviews....and I have to disagree! The dough was like dry cardboard....we were not impressed. My husband who is a pizza monster, only ate two slices, said it wasn't even worth the carbs.

Ate on the patio two different nights while staying in town. The patio view is wonderful. Food is decent, generously portioned, and served pretty quickly. There are plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Service is a bit rough-edged, but the staff takes care of its duties pretty well. Overall, a generally good, reasonably-priced place to eat.

Food was delicious! Salad bar was very fresh and had lots of choices. The service was rather slow, but everyone was very friendly. My husband had a drink from the bar and he said it was very good.

I love their pizza. My fav is the Pesto Pie with black and kalamata olives! It is my favorite pizza restaurant. Thankfully I live close to it so I go there often. They also have the pasta restaurant upstairs (Lotsa Pasta) so you can eat pizza in the casual setting downstairs or eat from the full menu upstairs. I love it!

We were in Cortez to visit Mesa Verde National Park and decided we wanted to find a local place to eat instead of a chain. So after consulting with Yelp, we went over to Thatza Pizza. Good pizza. Really good cinnamon breadsticks (that we got as the free special of the day). Good prices. Helpful staff. Fun family meal!

We ate upstairs at Lotza Pasta and judging by the other reviews should've opted for Thatza Pizza downstairs instead. The food was just ok. Pasta was a bit over cooked and the other dishes we ordered just didn't have much flavor. I really wanted the apple pie lasagna (dessert) to be better as the concept sounded good, but it was fairly bland. Staff is friendly enough but VERY slow. All & all, it was just average/ok.

Happened upon here after realizing how hard it is to find a place to eat on Valentine's day. My colleagues and I were (stuck) working in Cortez over Valentine's day. We initially wanted to go back to Shiloh's for a nice steak, but then upon entering found out that it would 20-25 minutes to find out if they had a cancellation. So, then, we decided to go to Lotsa Pasta/Thatza Pizza on a previous recommendation. When we got there, there was no parking, but a sign that said there was more parking one level down. I dropped off my colleagues to get us a table. When I returned upstairs we found out there was a long wait of at least 20-25 minutes from the large group waiting upstairs. Come to find out the two restaurants are separate, but conjoined. So we went downstairs and found a much more laid back atmosphere. The staff behind the counter was awesome and really helpful. They had a Tuesday special of a large 1 topping pizza for $5.95. So I we each got a large pizza (future lunches and dinners). Also, since it was Valentine's they were giving out a free cookie or brownie (how sweet). Also, they had a rather large selection of beers (and had a bottle of Woodchuck hard cider just for me). The pizza was hand tossed and with a thin-like crust (but not too thin) which had me reminiscing of my first job at a local pizza parlor. The pizza came out and was tasty. The decor was very hippieish with cycling and beer posters. I kinda liked it. Overall, with the service, the price, and the taste I had to go with 5 stars. I would definitely return!!!

We are locals. We eat at Lotsa Pasta and often order pizza from downstairs where they have Thatza Pizza. We love the food. Our favorite pizza is one with mushrooms, pepperoni, black olives and roasted garlic sauce on top. YUMMY! We like the lasagna as well. And the fried cod is good.

The staff was very friendly and I so hoped the pizza would be as good as it smelled. I am a huge pizza fan so maybe I got my hopes up to high. I would say the pizza was a 3 but the staff made this a 4.

Good pizza and good price. Seemed to be better priced than most pizza places. They also have daily specials (we received free cinnamon sticks). Would order here again!

We arrived at Lotsa Pasta (upstairs) around 8pm since they closed at 10pm. I took a pic of the misleading sign (they actually turned the place out at 9pm). Our experience left much to be desired and I only wish I read the other reviews first and ate downstairs at Thatza Pizza. I imagine (possibly incorrectly) the staff downstairs would provide informative food selection choices and act courteously towards their guests. The major problem dealt with the proximity to closing. No one wanted to be there that was paid to actually be there. Our waitress couldn't recommend anything other than reinforming us that she "recommends the lasagnas because they're a buck off". But what is unique...what is delicious...what's the most popular... When I asked her about specific dishes, she had never tried them (no eggplant parmesan, no ravioli). In hindsight, I recognize that she obviously NEVER ate there. SIRENS warning me to leave and yet I stayed :( We ordered the cheesy garlic bread, a portobello mushroom ravioli with half white/half red sauce, and a chicken spinach lasagna. Our waitress asked us if we still wanted the complimentary half a loaf of bread that came with our meals. Um, yes please. Are they trying to save money or too lazy to heat the bread up? (Sadly it was the later). We watched and waited (they seated us very close to the open kitchen door area. Our waitress passed 15 times, never making eye contact or informing us where our garlic cheesy bread was. When she did catch us, she said that it was already in the oven and she'd check. The next contact she made was to deliver our entrees. Where's the garlic bread you ask? I guess it was still in the oven. When she delivered our entrees, she asked us if we still wanted the cheesy garlic bread. (Why, do you want it instead and are secretly hoping we forgot?). We said yes. Apparently, it's the think to order stuff and then not want it. We were tired of defending our orders and YES we do want ALL the food that comes with our meals and that we ordered. It's an assumption I make whenever I'm the customer. How was the food? I could have purchased frozen cheese ravioli and thrown some bland sauce on top and chopped mushrooms for what it was worth. It was hot. Overly garnished with parsley flakes (who does that really). But all the pasta was OVERcooked and tasted as though it came from a freezer bag. The marinara sauce might have been the only decent thing, but it was very acidic (garlic maybe?), but I love garlic. About three-quarters of the way through our entrees (my aunt eats faster than me), our waitress shows up with the ill-fortuned garlic cheesy bread. And guess what? It was burnt. The cheese was overcooked and orange from being toasted too long. The edges of the bread were black - just not brown, but black, as were grill marks on the bottoms of the bread. We sent it back (although in hindsght we should have kept it). That's when we heard him. The cook (trust me, no chef back there tonight). He was actually yelling at the waitress. She returned and said it would take another 15 minutes, do we still really want it. At this point we were determined, and AGAIN (how many times now) said yes. Apparently, the cook turned off whatever apparatus is required to make the cheesy garlic bread - an ENTIRE HOUR early. He yelled at the waitress, accusing her of now telling us how it's going to take him 15 minutes to grill the bread (since he already turned the oven off). He was highly upset. And although the bread returned, this time bland and undercooked (can we not even try here to melt cheese), we will NEVER return. I cannot EVER fathom a time when I would recommend this restaurant. Good luck to the new owners/managers (yes they're selling) because with staff such as this, even Chef Ramsey couldn't save this one.

Excellent. Went with family of 7 on Sat. night. Great service and very good thin pizza. They have a buffet section downstairs and a regular restaurant section upstairs.
