Had the best soft serve chocolate ice cream ever. The burger was very tasty. Mushroom burger with teriyaki sauce. A must try old fashioned drive-in.

I had the 1/4 lb cheese burger. Tasty. Fresh toppings. Fries were hot and crisp but I think the oil could use a change. Fast and friendly service. It's a decent hamburger drive in.

This place was not bad and a little busy when my coworker and I came here for lunch. We found a parking spot and went out side to look at the menu. There was one table where we parked so we decided to eat outside rather than in the car. Everybody else had their food delivered to them to their car. A lot of the items on the menu sounded good to me but that was because I was hungry at the time. I asked the waitress what was the most popular burger and she told me it was the Green Chile Burger ($3.79) for a 1/4 lb. burger. I ordered that, a small BBQ Burger ($4.79 or $6.89 for a large), small fries ($2.69), and a medium soft drink ($1.89). My coworker ordered the Chicken Sandwich ($3.99) and large Tater Tots ($1.99 or $1.69 for a small). It took a while for our food to come out. I ate the BBQ Burger first and it was such a tiny burger. It tasted okay and was nothing special in my opinion. The Green Chile Burger was good and had a tiny spicy kick which was just right. I would recommend that burger if you don't know what to order. The fries were okay and they gave us two ketchup cups each which was more than enough for me. I thought this place was not bad and would be a place to go if you like to eat from your car. Order the Green Chile Burger!

Forget Sonic. Go to Burger Boy! Everyday, I'm tempted to eat here. The Potato Poppers are my favorite, along with Piña Colada Dutch ice. Both of these are sweet treats you don't want to miss. I've had the majority of the menu and have enjoyed every bit of it. Prices are great also!

If you want the feeling of an ole time drive-in with car hops this is the place. We always get the Green Chili Cheese Burger. Best I have ever had any place. Along with the tater tots, onion rings and root beer float it is a meal to enjoy. Try it and you will like it.

I always enjoy a great burger and the service is always good at burger boy. We will always patronize the business when in town. Their hamburgers are hot, fries are delicious and drinks are always kept full. Wonderful car hop service.

The don't take debit/credit. WHAT?!?!?! Major turnoff, especially when travelling. We did not realize this fact until AFTER we ordered so we had to use their ATM (and pay a fee) to draw out cash. We don't eat in our car and there are only a couple dingy tables to sit outside in the heat at. The grilled cheese sandwich was pretty good though... the highlight of the whole experience.

Nice friendly service. Breakfast burrito was excellent. I had the green chili and bacon. Very tasty. Drive in/car hop service so I ate in the car. No big issue I mean it is a Drive in. I would love to stop by again.

Awesome joint. The previous complaining about lack of seating and cash only.... This joint is nothing more than it claims to be. An AWESOME burger joint! 5 stars from the whole fam as we stopped by on a roadtrip. Burgers were fab. Ate them in the car with no mess as the wrapping was most conducive for such a situation. A must stop if passing through! Two thumbs up! Yes it's cash only but even if you have to pay the two dollar ATM fee, you will not find a cheaper burger at a higher quality! Small price to pay for a delicious meal!

This is an original Drive In from the 1950s. It's the place to go for fast food in Cortez - way above average! We went there for the flair, but the food was extraordinarily good. They serve it on car hop trays like in the old days. We had a bacon cheeseburger and a patty melt, both were outstanding. The regular fries were good, but the sweet potato fries were among the best I've ever had. Not greasy, nice and crispy on the outside, the perfect consistency and just simply delicious. Service was friendly and fast. Including two softdrinks, we paid 15$. So glad we discovered this little gem!

Best green chile cheese burger I've ever had, and I've eaten at the Owl Bar in San Antonio, NM. So that's saying a lot. The rest of the food is old fashioned drive-in type fare - other burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc. Oh, and they have tater tots! Apparently they serve breakfast burritos and really good coffee, but I didn't have either of those. There are three or four tables in the shade to choose from. Otherwise, you eat in your car.

We discovered the breakfast burritos a couple of years ago and thought they were delicious. We've passed thru cortez two other times...one year on a Sunday, they are closed and another year later in the day...no breakfast burritos after 10:30am... So we finally got it right this week and enjoyed these wonderful burritos once again. We took two to go, we live in the phoenix area so that we could enjoy them once we were home. Yum. I got the basic with sausage and onion, he got the basic with onion, mushroom and hamburger...he said his was pretty yummy too! Everyone is so friendly and I love the old fashion "drive in" aspect. I've been reading the reviews about the green chile hamburger...wondering if I need to make a 5 hour trip back... :)

On our way to Mesa Verde (which is miles from anything), I figured we needed a bite, something to keep the hungries at bay while we climbed the switchbacks 2500ft up the Mesa. Thank you Yelp, a green chili cheeseburger and sweet potato fries were just what the driver ordered... at an authentic carhop from the 1950's no less. After a 2.5+ hour hump from Moab, we found Cortez, and hit the Wendy's for a pitstop. My wife informed me that the bathrooms at a Wendy's are closer to the door then the register, and they'd be non the wiser.... genius. Well, apparently this is no secret (except to me), so after waiting in line for 10 minutes with 5 other people who didn't buy any food, we were ready to eat. Yes, this was my first green chili cheeseburger...and it was a revelation. Not a saucy mess, not a slab of green chili on a burger, but a perfect line down the middle. Diced green chili with a little juice, fresh made griddled burger patties, all the trimmings, american cheese, sesame seed bun (wish it was toasted...my only wish). The green chili is about 1/4 the heat of a jalapeño, so it's not hot, but has a nice warm glow. The thin cut sweet potato fries have a very light dusting or batter, which makes them crispy on the outside, and meltingly tender on the inside, the best I've ever had. If you're in Cortez, you have to try it. Did I mention its a carhop from the 1950's, as in trays on your car window, family owned, friendly service, and unique? Yeh, it's all that, and then some. Oh, and its cheap!

It was everything I could have asked for in a burger joint. The green chile burger was top notch, as was the shroomburger. The fluffy dude who took our order was great too.

While traveling through Colorado, we happened upon this restaurant. We were originally planning to stop by a highly reviewed Pizza place, but alas, they were closed. In hindsight, we are very glad about that, otherwise we would never have tried this place. They have awesome burgers! I highly recommend the Green Chile Cheeseburger. Oh, my! I usually drench my burgers in ketchup because that is how I like them, but with this burger, I didn't use anything other than what comes on the burger. Wow....there are no words! For the kids, they tried the grilled cheese. Our youngest couldn't eat all of hers, so we tried it, too! We ended up ordering ANOTHER one because it was SO good! If you're nearby, make this your destination, not the alternate! You won't be disappointed. (But remember to bring cash as they don't accept debit or credit!) Thank goodness for OTHER closed restaurants!

Burger boy is the place to go in Cortez if you're looking for a reasonably priced burger, or any other drive up type food. Cortez also has a Sonic, but you're wasting your time going there because Burger Boy was great. You might skip it because it looks like an old place, but it is the local's place and there is a reason why. The food was all excellent, especially the burgers. I'd equate them to what you get at Freddy's, and they were very fresh and delicious. For a burger joint I'd give them five stars but to get five starts you need to have a "meal" option so you can figure out the price easily. The waitresses were fast and very friendly and the food was done quickly. Next time we're in Cortez we'll absolutely be going to Burger Boy again.

Family owned business. Kind of like a Sonic with up to 1 Pound hamburgers; cheese-burgers, Breakfast burritos, onion rings just plain or with green chili (or red) with meat are to die for. Very friendly carhops and quick service in 1950's style. The family atmosphere is very fun.
