Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

We had to get a meal to go and needed extra stuff you make it enjoyable. Marisol helped us she was polite, good eye contact, great smile and personable. It is so refreshing to meet a person, at any establishment, that is ready to serve. I could not have had a better experience and I even remember the server we had, a month ago, may be Joe, maybe John, normal build 5'9-5'10 really pleasant, as well. Management must know, IF YOU TREAT THEM GOOD THEY WILL TREAT US GOOD. "Taking care of the goose that lays the golden egg." The golden egg being A-List service. I have been affiliated with great restaurants, in my career, and these are great people working here. When hungry and day is coming to an end, this is the SPOT!! GREAT SERVICE!! Thanks Marisol and the whole VI team- Matthew ps Will now be a regular customer.

This the most family restaurant I've ever been at. I've been all over the world and I've never had the concern regarding service or food preparation. If u don't like it they fix it till you do. I recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants good food with stellar service!

I don't even want to give this place 1 star. The service is slow and very rude, not to mention inattentive. The food is dry and tasteless as well as being room temperature when it should be hot. The pies taste like cardboard and are soggy like they were stored somewhere wet.

Excellent staff and location. They took care of us super well. Their food was exactly as it should be and their prices were perfect. The wait time was as it should be and flowed incredibly smoothly. I will return!

Now I normally don't write reviews, but this had to be the worst dining experience my family's had in quite some time. This is mostly because of a waitress named Shae. I don't know if she was new or because she was having an off day, but she had to be the absolute worst server I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. She got our order wrong to start, and when we wanted to ask that it be corrected she was nowhere to be found. She had gone on a break. While she was serving us! We had to ask a different waiter to correct it for us. She comes back with a modified order along with an insincere apology. Guess what else? The order was still wrong. Not only this but Shae was rude, inattentive, and just a sad excuse for an employee. Not once did she even ask if we wanted a refill, and my brother had to get up and practically go to the kitchen to ask for some silverware. Then, we get to the register and find that Shae has overcharged us on the bill. Big surprise! Management says there's nothing they can do about it, and we end up paying a large sum of a bill. Even after all of this, we still left a generous tip of $7. We won't be coming back, and we suggest that no one else come here either.

The french toast was really good. Service was great. Biscuits and gravy were ok. Eggs the way I ordered them. Hashbrowns were just ok.

We came in to have a slice of pie, but decided to buy a whole pie instead. So the young man had to stop and top the pie for us, he did an exceptionally good job. As we were waiting other employees came by and asked if we needed anything. I was very impressed at how well this restaurant is run. I thank all of the staff.

If I could give negative stars I would... let's start with the red headed waitress. .. If you are unlucky enough to get her I'm so sorry... All she does is fish for tips and gives horrible service once she sat us got is drinks and we wait over an hour just to order... The manager saw us still waiting and helped us... mentions her kids every time she talks to u or says she is pregnant trying to make u give her more tips she even told us once "I don't care how much people tup me it all just goes to my kids" if you go during the day there is another girl with the most annoying high pitched squeaky voice... horrible service she took our order and she completely forgot us when she finally remembered we were there she brought us our then cold food and blamed it on the kitchen being slow... The managers are just as unprofessional as the servers anytime you call and as to speak with a manager they tell you they are either just too busy to speak with you or that they will call you back and never do.... I have tried for months to speak with a manager with no success. ... corporate really needs to step in and fix this embarrassment of a restaurant

Not sure why Village Inn is labeled as "fast food", because it is a restaurant where you sit down at your table and place an order with your server. Food is not kept under a heat lamp waiting for the next customer. Comparable to a "Denny's, Eat N Park, or Big Boy franchise. Anyway... My wife and I like eating here on occasion because we like their food and it's within walking distance of our house. Their meals are reasonably priced and we have never had a bad meal here - any time of day. We always receive a friendly greeting by the staff and receive good service at our table. Now for their pies... They are SO good! When we lived out East, we would usually get a slice of pie at Eat N Park, because they were made fresh and tasted so good. I was glad to find a place here where they do the same and they taste just as good! One of my favorites is the chocolate peanut butter cup pie. WARNING: it is very rich! We decided to buy one of their pumpkin pies with whipped cream last Thanksgiving to have with our dinner. It rocked! Check out their Pie Rush Wednesdays! A free piece of pie with any dine-in purchase. They even have a countdown clock on their website at villageinn.com/pierushwe… How cool is that!

We don't frequent Village Inn often, but I was in the mood for some pie and I know on Wednesday's they have free pie. I got the Turkey dinner and the Chocolate Caramel Pie. Everything was just so dry. My plate looked like they threw everything together right before our waitress brought it out to me. The turkey was not moist so I had to drench it in gravy. My pie was also dried out. I only ate the creamy part because the cake on the bottom was a brick...the crust was even like glued to it. My husband on the other hand had a great breakfast and pie. I guess I just ordered the wrong thing. I'm sure it will be a while before we try Village Inn again, specially after this experience.

This has been a hang out spot for me as this was the neighborhood I grew up in. I came in to visit old ghosts, and found a ghost of a restaurant that I once knew. Aside from no longer offering something that I was looking for, (the Santa Fe chicken skillet,) the place was run down and tired feeling. I ordered the chicken fried steak skillet with my eggs over easy. When I got the food, the eggs were over cooked. As far as service, the manager on duty did not pay any attention to any one, except me as he saw me writing this review. It is sad when the neighborhood goes down and you can't count on the standards.

We started eating at this location kind of by accident. The food we have had, with one exception, turned out to be surprisingly good. We have eaten there in the early morning only once. The food was excellent but the waitresses are those honey, dear, sweetie types that make you feel like you're in a Mad Men episode. Ewww. Our other experiences were in the late afternoon or early evening. One person always seems to order a breakfast no matter what time of the day. The other person usually orders burgers. Again, the food has been very good for the a chain restaurant and the food presentation looked just like the pictures in their menu. Burgers are always ordered well done and the cooks know what they are doing because it is very hard to do a juicy, well done, tasty burger! The reason for four stars instead of five is because of the wait staff and some of the hostesses. They could use some customer service training using a manual from this century!

I have a soft spot for this Village Inn. In high school, my friends and I would eat lunch there every Tuesday. We also would go there after every show we went to at the Black Sheep, and got the same awesome waiter who never charged us for drinks. The staff here is super nice and much friendlier than other VIs in Colorado Springs. This location will always be the best.
