Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics
Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.
Food Suggestions for Diabetics at Village Inn
2 Egg Low-Cholesterol Egg Substitute Omelette with Part-Skim Mozzarella
If you are concerned about high blood pressure, then you must try food items from the kid's menu at Village Inn as most food items on their regular menu are high in sodium. However, you can always bet on salads for rescue. Instead of dining alone, you can visit the Village Inn in groups to keep the sodium intake in check.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Sausage Links & Eggs, Sausage Patties & Eggs, Biscuit & Gravy with Eggs, 6 oz. Top Sirloin Eggs, Ham Steak & Eggs, Egg Benedict, and Country Benedict from Village Inn's breakfast menu. It is also recommended to skip the Skillet options at Village Inn for its high sodium content. Among the omelets, avoid Denver Omelette, Country Music Star Omelette, and French Spinach & Bacon Omelette. You must also skip Sandwiches and All-World Double Cheeseburger every time you visit Village Inn.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Village Inn
Most items served at Village are made up of eggs, bacon, chicken, or steak. Hence, these food items are often high in cholesterol. You can try the salad items, juices, or light breakfast items from the menu to keep the cholesterol in check. You can also try food from the kid's menu to ensure that you consume fewer calories than usual.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for High Cholesterol
You must skip burgers and sandwiches at the Village Inn as these items are very high in cholesterol. You should also avoid the Garden Salads menu at Village Inn except for Southwest Salad, lunch size. You can order all the soups, but you must avoid Tomato Basil Bowl and Wisconsin Cheese Bowl. Almost everything on the dinner menu is also high in cholesterol and must be avoided. Also, skip shakes at Village Inn.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Village Inn
Came in late night, special ordered a low cholesterol dish of scrambled eggs. They accommodated. They promptly came out, but tasted horrible. I ate a few bites and asked the waiter, Michael H, if he wouldn't mind looking into the terrible taste of the eggs. He did and brought the manager, Ben J, with him. Turns out they were spoiled. They could not have been more apologetic. Apparently this was the last carton of Egg Beaters and it had gone bad. I ordered instead an egg white Greek omelette, which was also prepared in what seemed like record time. It was one of the best omelettes I've ever eaten. The feta cheese, artichokes and spinach were a killer combo. These guys get customer service and know how to solve problems. They took what could have been a disastrous situation and turned it into a model example of what to do when things go wrong. I was as impressed with the quality of that egg white omelette as I was with their professionalism. The best part was in the end the comped the entire meal (which I had not known when I wrote the original review in the restaurant).

I didn't try the pie... but I enjoyed their breakfast! I went on a Sunday morning, didn't have to wait too long. Trying to figure out what I wanted to order for breakfast was tough - I ended up going with a breakfast skillet, bacon, eggs and potatoes all in the same bowl. Great decision. Lots of food for a great price.

Wi-fi. Open 24 hours. They recently redid the ambiance - it looks a little nicer. A friend and I have gone to this Village Inn for years, usually on a week night. The staff are usually friendly and competent. The quality of food is okay and comparable to Denny's. Nothing wild, but breakfast anytime, pies, and if you order coffee, they usually give you a full pot so the waitstaff doesn't have to constantly go back and forth to give you refills. Nice touch.

Ambiance: Coffee Shop with a very generic, chain feel. Nothing original in it's appearance. Seems really popular with the retired crowd. Predictable. Service: I thought my waitress was a robot. Each time she arrived at table, talked like she had memorized a script, and didn't deviate from it at all. Very monotone with no personality. Really funny when you think about it. (Reminds me of a grown-up version of Vicki the robot from the 80's sitcom, Small Wonder.) Food: Very boring menu. Had difficulty trying to find something interesting. Went with a club sandwich and fries. Nothing special. I can make a much better sandwich at home. I ordered a slice of banana cream pie for dessert, that was no better than the crummy pies you get a grocery store bakery. (Wish we had a Marie Calender's here in the Springs, which really does have good pies.) Overall, Yuck! Boring food in a boring atmosphere with non-personable service. I really would rather skip a meal that patronize Village Inn again.

What a difference a few weeks make, well that and 60 miles. Came to this location on a BUSY Sunday morning, surrounded by hotels and a full parking lot. Thought I would regret the decision. Party of four seated immediately, Courtney took our drink orders immediately and came back for our orders at the perfect time. Restaurant was clean, staff was great!

I was a bit skeptical. When I think of Village Inn, I think of "shabby" and not-good food. I was pleasantly surprised. Both my dining partner and I ordered custom preparation. They delivered excellent food and with our orders made correctly. My dining partner had a big burger and it looked fabulous. I ordered the strawberry crepes and they were to die for. Took away one star because there was no one there to greet us or seat us when we arrived and we had to wait for a few minutes, even though the place wasn't busy. And, the bathrooms are shabby and desperately need to be remodeled.

Great food, prices are decent and the people are plesant! I love how willing they are to work with my allergy, its such a rare allergy, and they even checked the ingredients lists on everything I ordered to make sure it wasn't in there! I will be going out of my way to go here for now on!

Went a couple of weeks ago. The nice thing is the people make the difference. VI's operating procedure seems to be to under-staff every location. Our server was new and admitted this but was so friendly and paid special attention to our kids. The poor guy had 15 tables+ to take care of but did a fantastic job of it. I wish I could remember his name because I want recommend him to corporate for a heroic job of dealing with a busy dining room and still being nice about it. Food was mediocre but you get what you pay for. Hire some servers!

The food tasted good, however, the portions are ridiculously small. The two over easy eggs were larger than the serving of Hash browns. I was only given a small spoonful of country gravy for my chicken-fried steak. Pathetic! Next time going to go to a small mom and pop for a real meal.

Their Friday fish special gave me food poisoning. Their wait staff (with few exceptions) seem unable to get your order right. The weasel of a manager has an excuse for everything. I wouldn't recommend anything outside of breakfast, and even then you're better off going to a local diner.

The only pro about Village Inn is that it is open 24/7, which is certainly convenient but it's not really worth it. Every time I go there the food is worse and the service is somehow more stale than the time before. They have adopted the theory that if all managers, bussers, and wait staff ask if everything is ok, I will enjoy my crappy food more. They also claim to have the world's best pie which is a joke for sure. Now that I know there is a local option for late night dining (King's Chef Diner, open from 9pm-4am), I will be going there any time I have a late-night breakfast craving and I recommend that you do as well! Nasty decor in there as well. Ew.

Where else can you get free wifi, lemon meringue pie and seasoned fries at 4am?! Definitely not Denny's. I never goto Village Inn for a 5 star dining experience. But I do go when nothing else is open, or to hang out with a friend late at night. The food and service is typical of a diner. This Village Inn was recently remodeled and I really dig the combination of vintage and modern elements. All in all "A-OK".

Stopped by for a late night snack. The wait was longer than anticipated but what can you expect at 1230 am. I wanted something light and ordered the chicken salad. My salad was smothered with dressing and I noticed the lettuce was not fresh. Some of the pieces were red and some had red spots. It was disgusting. The only thing I would order from here is pie.

This location must have improved their food and service since the previous reviews were posted. I love their veggie omelet, which they serve with a serving of fruit and multi-grain pancakes. Their new dark roast coffee is delicious. I like the service, and kudos to the manager who helps out with waiting tables and cashiering when they are busy.

Stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Short wait, but not very long. Food was really just average. There was nothing really wrong with it, just nothing special at all. The eggs were fine, the sausage was just okay, not too flavorful. I didn't care for the corned beef hash at all. Seasonings just seemed off and it was a bit greasy. Just a bit disappointed, but at least not hungry

First experience of hospitality and dining in Colorado Springs. And my was it remarkable! I didn't know what I wanted so I ordered safe- Fish & Chips with a garden salad. I was so enamored by service and gratitude for my choice to dine with them. The manager was an energetic, helpful outgoing fellow working late night. The server made me feel incredibly welcome, and she was so confidant and helpful, I couldn't believe it! Water was a bit repelling, so I brought in my own water bottle- no problem there! Ordered some kiddie breakfast plates that came with a side of fresh fruit, the boys dug in with enthusiasm! Very pleasant, relaxing, experience that has truly set the stage for what to expect of service in Colorado Springs.

Went here for breakfast. Just eggs dishes available: no fruit, no bakery (except for cakes), not really good service. Our reservation got lost and we had been promised a separate place for our group to hold a brief meeting... and turned out there was nothing of the kind.

Picture Denny's, ok now picture it a little more greasy and a little less yummy (and yeah, that's coming from drunk experience when EVERYTHING tastes good). Kinda yucky but it's open 24 Hours and it's semi-cheap... cost me about $20 for two breakfast plates at 3am.
