I wanted to like this place. Really. With a name like that.. who wouldn't want to order something on a baguette? my mistake. came here on a saturday morning with my sister and her bf. no private parking, only street parking. we got lucky with a spot just across the street. i was torn between a breakfast croissant sandwich and a sandwich on baguette. i figured i should order something on a baguette. i also ordered a brownie from the display case on the counter. for as busy as it was, the tables weren't being cleared and cleaned very fast. we ended up sitting at a table with a couple plates and LOTS of crumbs on it. although it was obvious that it wasn't our mess, our table was never cleared/cleaned. my sister and i took it upon ourselves to clean up. i just added the plates to another table that was yet to be cleaned. we didn't wait terribly long for our food (considering there was huge party of maybe 12-16). as soon as i got my sandwich i tried to take a bite out of it when my teeth weren't sinking in.. at all. after a few mishaps with my teeth... i knew this sandwich wasn't chewable/bitable??? initially i was going to sulk and not eat it, but the food was paid for... so i took the bread and began to bend it in all directions. the outer part of the bread crumbled and what was left... was not chewable! so i ate my sandwich. the verdict? don't get the baguette if you dont like stale-hard bread. the croissant looked MUCH better. unfortunately.. i don't see myself coming back here when i'm back in the springs. maybe for a brownie, but not a sandwich.

The coffee was delicious and service was outstanding. We had the breakfast croissant with eggs & ham. The croissant was buttery flaky perfection. It came with a side of fresh grapes. Splendid & sweet. I will definitely be back to try the pastries!

Sadly less than excited about our food here. The croissants were clearly defrosted and still cold. The chocolate and almond fillings were tasty but much too over-stuffed (see photo) The muffins seemed to be the kind bought in bulk at a warehouse store. Disappointing.

Came to town on business. Cute little restaurant/sandwich shop. Quick and friendly customer service too. Had the veggie sandwich on a baguette and sat outside. Good food and pleasant atmosphere. Would come back again if I was in town.

First time visit to this place...and it was a good one! Very nice service, quick, thorough and accurate. Visited for lunch. Had the ham and swiss, and french onion soup (which was very good). I would highly recommend this place, will be back for breakfast and the pastries.

Cool place for quick, but not TOO quick of a lunch. I had a ham baguette and french onion soup. The baguette comes with a side of dijon mustard that was really good. The baguette didn't cut up the roof of my mouth like that kind of bread can do. (Which means it was fresh.) I'm salivating for a bowl of that french onion soup right now. (Too bad in live far, like in San Diego, Ca far!) Service: Excellent! I was kind of surprised they come by and ask how things are going, since I ordered at the counter. Usually places like that drop the food and run away. Mmm.... french onion soup....

In town for a wedding, in need of brunch, and LB was recommended to us by the delightfully shop assistant at the spice shop (worth a visit, has truffle salt!) -- so we decided to give it a whirl. French standards (quiche, onion soup) with a CO Springs flare -- the omelette had chili pepper in it, and my fruit plate was 1/2 a banana, a cluster of grapes, and a sad piece of melon -- coming from SF, needless to say, I was judgy -- but it was all surprisingly delicious. The baguette had that elusive crusty/doughy quality, and my salad was tasty -- not a bad place to grab a quick brunch if you're in the somewhat abandoned downtown area on a weekend morning. My salad was $7 and the fruit plate was $4 -- I think the omelette was $8? Overall, would I make special trip to LB? No. But is it satisfying? Yes.

My favorite place for French Onion soup. I was a regular for lunch when I lived in the Springs and I make a point of stopping in every time I am in town. I only ever get a bowl of french onion and a baguette. It is one of the best, traditional bowls of French Onion soup around.
(4)Brittany C.
Delicious, I order the chicken salad sandwich which comes on a croissant, with French onion soup, so fresh and filling, great calm environment for a book club or lunch date. Nice staff.
(5)Gina C.
Best chicken salad sandwiches in town - order it on a croissant - awesome! The waitstaff are extremely polite and efficient. Parking can be a hassle, especially during the lunch hour. But definitely worth the sacrifice!

Cute bakery reminiscent of the various cafes you find in larger cities (+1). Ordered a pan au chocolat which, unlike most chocolate pastries, had TOO much chocolate (+.5). A small but classic selection of baguettes, light breakfast options (omelettes, etc), and pastries (+.5). Price was on par with other bakeries I've been to (+.5). Sadly my pan au chocolat wasn't as flaky/buttery/melt in your mouth as at bakeries I've had around LA, but I'm not complaining: rounded up to three stars because it seems to be one of if not the only patisserie within the 3 blocks of Colorado Springs I visited.

Euro style breakfast.

Reminds me of living in Europe! Great breads and pastries, and I always get the linguine or amazing French onion soup and a cappuccino. Fantastic place to meet the girls for lunch.

I eat here a lot. I get the same thing-- french onion soup and a green salad with house dressing. It comes with a baguette- style roll. The french onion soup is, in my opinion, the best regionally, the salad fresh and the dressing is a proper vinaigrette. The butter is in packets but the bread is crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. This is what I come for. They have omelettes which are decent and other soups. I think some of the sandwiches are more successful than other. (This is an urban portion-sized place--not a "I have been digging ditches since 7am and need 6000 calories" place) There are 3 La Baguettes in town. The one on West Colorado Avenue is definitely connected to this one and is the original location. The westside one has better coffee.

I adore La Baguette. It's one of my favorite lunch places ever. Turkey sandwich on a croissant with grapes on the side....yummy! Everyone always raves about the french onion soup too....but I'm not a soup fan so I can't comment on that one. They always have a great selection of gourmet breads and fun desserts too. Love, love, love this place!

Bright, comfortable dining. Love the quiche, and the staff is always cheerful & friendly

This place is sweet! Cute interior, friendly staff, amazing food! I usually get the Cheese Fondue which tastes as fondue should and always fills me up. It comes with half a sliced apple and two mini baguettes. Excellent. The French Onion Soup is really delicious, the eclairs are yum and my favorite pastry, the chocolate croissant, is the best. Highly recommended for lunch or Sunday brunch if you're in the Springs.

Worst cup of coffee ever. First off it's in styrofoam, what a waste. My two shot latte tasted like scalded milk. Next time I'll walk to Starbucks for a cheaper less earth offending, scalded, sugar loaded coffee.

The reviews for this joint required a visit and so for the first time today I stopped in for lunch. Atmosphere is nice and I agree with other reviewers: food and wait staff is great. If I had one complaint it would be that I'm too used to my American portions (I had this same issue while visiting France for real). My sandwich came ala carte and for the price I was a bit disappointed there was no accompanying fruit or other side. That being said, what I did get was tasty and satisfying. I can see why people like it so much.

Three words: French Onion Soup! It was amazing in every possible way, not too salty and really hot. The ambiance and service are just okay and it's really loud, but I would come back over and over again just for that soup. As a typical bakery, they had lots of other lovely things as well, and the location was great!

Ambiance: Great atmosphere, that is miles away from anything else in Colorado Springs. Wonderfully restored old building with ultra high ceilings and cracked, aging hardwood floors. Lots of tables throughout this long and narrow dining establishment. Service: You walk in and order at the counter. You are given a number and that food is delivered to your table by friendly and professional young waitstaff (wow, what a concept, young people that are well- trained and enjoy delivering great customer service in a casual restaurant setting - so kudos to the management). Food: If you are accustomed to simple yet awesome food and big-city cafe culture, then you will be right at home here. First off, the breads and baguettes are incredible (get a loaf to take home with you). This is probably the best place in Colorado Springs for a sandwich. Breads are freshly made and very crusty on the outside, yet soft in the inside. They incorporate high quality cheeses and meats in their sandwiches. My favorite sandwich for breakfast or lunch is the ham and swiss croissant served warm, so the cheese is slightly melted. Ask for the nicely-spiced dijon mustard on the side, and you are now eating your croissant sandwich like a true Frenchman. Lunch meals are served with a nice cluster of grapes. Salads are also wonderfully prepared with the freshest of ingredients, and tangy homemade dressings. They also have an omelet of the day selection, that is simply delicious, served with crusty bread and grapes. The french onion soup is one of the best in town, and is so comforting on a cold snowy afternoon (though it is so good, I will order it on a hot steamy summer day as well.) This is a perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee, and a croissant, sandwich, soup or salad while reading a book, web browsing on your laptop or chatting with a good friend. Absolutely wins my vote as the best place in town to have a sandwich (how does Subway stay in business with La Baguette in town?) As those that read my reviews know, I do not throw 4 and 5 star ratings around lightly as other yelpers do, so by me giving this place 5 stars, you know this is an absolute winner!

Bread was fantastic. I guess the only reason I'm not giving the cafe 5 stars is a lack of selection in none egg sandwiches. There was one delicious veggie sandwich. We ate here 3 or 4 times in the 5 days we spent in Colorado Springs. And it was definitely a bit pricey, but worth it... I think?.
(4)sasha b.
this place has by far the best French onion soup i have ever had.
(5)Randy W.
Tried the French onion soup after reading rave reviews here, and I heartily agree. Good strong coffee without being bitter. Yummy eclair. Polite staff. A pleasure, and if I lived in Colo Springs, I'd be a regular.
(4)Jessica D.
A French bakery and bistro, La Baguette feels very authentic with its high ceilings and creaking wooden floors. Always a great stop for french onion soup. Once you try that it's hard to try anything else. I like the express lunches with the croissant sandwiches too. Their corn chowder is also very good, and the coffee is good but strong. I've really never had anything bad here. If they have chocolate croissants (they sell out early), definitely try one. They use dark chocolate that melts and solidifies-- amazing.

This is a terrific French bakery/cafe, and the downtown location is by far my favorite in regards to atmosphere...it is in a charming old building with sidewalk seating or just a great sidewalk view for people watching. If I could eat one of their chocolate croissants every day for breakfast without repercussions (aka gaining a ton of weight), I totally would! The buttery croissant with a semi-sweet chocolate filling satisfies all of my morning food cravings. As already mentioned, the french onion soup is a must try! You may get a bowl of soup, or the express lunch special that includes a cup of soup, a drink, and a side salad...the house salad comes with a fantastic lemon dijon vinagrette and a fresh baked roll, along with a drink. It is the perfect size lunch that satisfies, but doesn't make you feel bloated for the rest of the day. Also worth a glance is the every changing quiche of the day, whenever I have ordered it it hasn't disappointed.

The best French Onion Soup I've ever had. That's all I have to say.
(5)Joyce A.
Have really enjoyed this French bistro and bakery . Several trips to this restaurant in fact. The menu choices are great -- sandwiches are fresh and individually made. The best French onion soup I've had. The bakery items are especially delectable. We will definitely go again! Recommend! A++++

I will say it: I prefer the La Baguette on West Colorado. I believe all three in town are independently owned and operated. The La Baguette off Garden of the Gods is snobbish and dark. West Colorado is a bit cramped, but I'm willing to rub elbows with strangers to have crave-worthy french inspired dishes. I visited with a friend after raving about the La Baguette cheese fondue. The problem? The cheese wasn't piping hot here as it is at other locations. And it was thin...like thinned out with water. There was no stringiness, no goo, no lip burns. There was lack of smoothness and a powdery aftertaste. Weird. The sliced half of Red Delicious apple was sad and bruised all over. The small baguette was definitely day old...we are talking beyond crusty and dry inside. Is this how the French would do it? I made the mistake about taking a friend there. He was a first timer and I raved about the place, recalling the first time I tried the French Onion Soup and loved it. He ordered a baguette sandwich and some special of the day soup and the. politely stopped before his plates were half empty. He's an eater so this shocked me. He was ready to leave and said he wouldn't come back. I'm thinking he may not take my restaurant suggestions either, after this big fail.

Perfect place on cool rainy day. The French Onion soup is always my go to lunch when I am here. My husband had a sandwich made with an amazing croissant, served with a spicy mustard. Of course I had dessert, the Symphony cake was fabulous!!! Paired with the good coffee it made a terrific end to a fantastic lunch.
(5)Shannon S.
The food has always been fabulous, and the service is always friendly and professional. We've been going here for many years, and the food hadn't changed a bit. I cannot say enough great things about this location.

Love this place for lunch. Good soup and good crossiants! Yum.

Have been walking here from our hotel, Mining Exchange. This is a true gem. 5 star service, with a smile, as well as the most delicious, delicate French pastries, made fresh daily. Everything is made to order as well. Our breakfast croissants were fantastic. The macaroons, chocolate croissants, and honey coconut cake deliver as well. Do NOT miss this gem!
(5)Annie B.
The best almond macaroons EVER. And every soup of the day is worth the trip. My mom Enjoys their lunch pasta. Stopping for a loaf to have sliced to take home is such a treat
(5)David Y.
Right around the corner from the Wyndham Mining Exchange, fun little cafe with excellent food and a very friendly staff. The French Toast practically melts in your mouth. A gentleman who I believe might have been the owner thoughtfully brought a bowl of enormous seedless grapes for our toddler to enjoy along with her breakfast. Nice touches like that go a long way with us!

I have two words - French onion soup! Holy crap! I was greeted by a very nice lady after crossing the threshold. It was about 1p, so the big lunch rush was over. The restaurant still had 5-6 tables of other people enjoying God's little gift from Heaven. I ordered one of their combo meals: a ham and Swiss croissant and a cup of soup. I had the whole sandwich and not just the half. My meal was delivered quickly and I dug in. I am not sure if they make their own mustard, but it packs a punch. A tiny bit goes a long way and really adds flavor to the sandwich. My only regret was the combo meal comes with a cup of soup. After polishing off my cup, I wish I had ordered the bowl, but would have had to sacrifice half of my sandwich to make it fit. Stupid hard decisions! A great lunch for $11.50. The restaurant is very clean, both back and front, everything is made fresh, and there is plenty of elbow room. I may head back tomorrow. Great food!

FRENCH ONION SOUP. This is really all you need to know. Get the salad maison and the French onion soup ... $8.50 AND thats with a drink. I dare you to even TRY to eat the salad first. You cant. You just cant. Sure it's crispy fresh lettuce. Gorgeous red juicy tomatoes. Homemade dressing will dazzle the taste buds. BUT (and this is a BIG but) once you smell the delightful deliciousness of that French Onion soup ... topped with ooey goey cheese. FORGET ABOUT IT! Just eat the soup!! The place is clean and the staff is happy and friendly - bonus. But trust me ... dont miss the FRENCH ONION SOUP.
