Awesome breakfast burritos. I usually get the ham, egg and cheese breakfast burrito. Always fresh and made to order. I really like the red salsa. Very hot but very good. Great place to stop after a long hike or after the Manitou incline.

Ordered the #1 special in the window and all of it was good: chicken taco, beef taco, 2 rolled tacos for $5. Customer service needs improvement. I think what's happening is they're so busy, they're rude. Also unfortunately both their high chairs have broken buckles which saddens this mama of a 7 mos old boy who loved their guac.

The customer service is terrible and the food is okay. If the food was amazing, I believe I could tolerate the rudeness....but that's not the case. The young man behind the counter was simply abrasive and severely impatient with the elderly customers that came after me. I just left Texas and the Mexican food there is amazing....this place doesn't compare. My order took 25 minutes and it was just fajitas. I attempted the drive thru first, but the line of cars weren't moving. I thought going inside would be a lot faster, but I was wrong.

I've been visiting this taco shop for a few years now for breakfast burritos. On our last late night visit my husband and I decided to go a little wild and try the tamales. I don't know if I can even say I'm a big fan of tamales. It was my husband's call, and I was skeptical. But those tamales were unreal. They were spicy and smothered in a red sauce. They weren't dry or crumbly. I have no if ownership has changed or for how long these tamales have been this way. But the rice and beans were great, too. This meal made us hit up a few other Mexican restaurants in town just to try the tamales and see if this was an anomaly. We went to a couple other taco stands, a tiny taco king that's highly regarded in town, and an old town Mexican restaurant. No other tamale compared to the ones you can get here, 24 hours a day, via drive thru. I definitely recommend them.

We're from Houston, an arguable mecca for mexican food this side of the Rio Grande. We live close by and had to at least check this place out. Saw the 3-star average on here and some of the reviews are quite off-putting. For this first visit we ordered a combo #1 (to test the rice and beans) and 3 soft/3 hard beef tacos. Overall, the food was good for what it is. This is mexican fast food...in Colorado Springs. The meat was tender and flavorful. The corn tortillas were awesome! The restaurant seemed clean. There are 10 tables that seat 2-4 each. Staff was pleasant and didn't mind explaining items on the menu. I had to verify that the "rolled tacos" are actually taquitos and not soft tacos. Can't blame them for anglicizing a taquito. We'll be back.

So much for being open till 2 a.m. On Saturday waited for 10 minutes could see a girl in there cleaning and talking on her phone so went and knocked on window, she told me to go to drive thru, i told her yea u got 2 cars that hv been waiting so she walked to the back... so i went back in line for the drive thru still no service even though as i drove off i could see there was another guy in there. So disappointing! Explain how u make money if u dont actually serve anything? I guess they just dont want or need any more customers cause u def lost my buisness!

I love this place! Always open - always tasting great! Definitely try the green sauce and their breakfast burrito. Honestly, anything you get you cannot go wrong! Quick service too. I always hit this place up.

Alfonso's is one of those places I've gone to off and on for years as it's conveniently located near work. It is a true hole in the wall and it is always hopping at lunch. The ham, egg, potato and cheese breakfast burrito is probably my favorite thing on the menu. Today I had the "California Burrito". Traditionally these have carne asada, potatoes/fries, pico and cheese. Alfonso's take on it had sour cream. The steak was not as seared as it has been on the carne asada tacos, so it just wasn't as good as it could have been. And at $6.40 compared to the other burritos costing $4.75-$5.25, I'm not likely to order it again. If you and a buddy or two are truly starving. And by "starving" I mean, rabid, ravished, shipwrecked hungry... Order the "Don Poncho Burrito" and share it. It is the most massive burrito known to man. I ordered this once because it sounded awesome. I didn't know how big it was going to be, and it ended up being 3-4 meals worth of burrito. More burro than burrito.

This is my favorite taco place in the springs! And living on the West Side makes it that much sweeter. The food is always excellent but as others have said, expect to wait, it's fresh!!

They've spoiled me for getting chicken flautas anywhere else. The salsa verde is a perfect compliment! What brought me in was the bacon breakfast burrito slathered in salsa verde, but my recent go-to is the carnitas taco with a side of rice. So good! And I've been going long enough to see the employees lighten up a bit and even smile occasionally!

Alfonso's is not glamorous, the service is pretty typical of a drive-thru/walk-up counter place, but the food beats the snot out of La Casita. Beans have a lovely flavor and the other dishes are pretty tasty for a fast food joint. Is it the best Mexican food around? Of course, not.. but it's our go-to for a quick lunch or dinner (haven't tried the breakfast items yet) Word of warning: there is a tasty sounding burrito that is listed near the register.. a man's name with special. It runs about $12-13. It's the BIGGEST. FREAKING. BURRITO. ON. THE. PLANET. Seriously. It comes diagonal on a large tray and could feed a family of at least four. Like Man vs Food sized. :)

I found Alfonso's be accident. Now I often go out of my way to eat here. I enjoy crunchy tacos and taquitos. So I always get the special #1, one chicken taco, one beef taco, two rolled tacos. Excellent.

I've been going to this place since it opened over 10 years ago and the food is always consistently amazingly awesome! Ask for the TITO'S BURRITO which is not on the menu any longer. You won't be disappointed!

Awesome breakfast burritos. I think mine weighed at least 2 lbs. Next time, I'll eat half and save half, but I'd just gotten done w a bike ride and was starving, so a giant burrito was perfect. For less than $10 for two of us (no drinks or sides), it's a pretty good deal too. The morning I was there, they also had a plate of roasted/seasoned jalapeños out for free. I thought they were pretty tasty, but my friend thought they were HOT. They were jalapeños, after all, so I consider that a bonus. They serve the whole menu all day, so breakfast isn't just for breakfast anymore. And apparently all the High School kids love the place. There were none there, but I've had several friends tell me that since I've been there.

My first visit to this little place was not a good experience, but I went back to give it a second chance. I really wanted it to work out between us because it is SO close to where I work. But, alas, it did not. I first ordered the 2 taco combination plate and boy was I dissapointed! The meat was not fresh- it practically disintegrated in my mouth, which is not a natural characteristic of meat (duh)! Also, it was hardly seasoned, if at all. The beans were a little too runny for my taste and the rice was just OK. The crispy taco shells were delicious though! The second time I went I opted for the breakfast burrito. I ordered the one with bacon, eggs, cheese and potatos. First of all, there were WAY too many potatos in the burrito so the thing tasted pretty bland. But the worst offender for me was the bacon! It was basically giant chunks of bacon cut into all different shapes and sizes. It was too chewy, too big and too sparse. I ate about half and went to get lunch somewhere else. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of just 1 is because the salsa is pretty good! I won't be back, unfortunately!

This place definitely leaves something to be desired as far as service goes. I went through the drive-thru around 945 in the morning for a quick breakfast burrito. There was not a single soul in the restaurant or drive-thru. The lady taking my order was extremely abrupt and impatient, as if I was keeping her from something more important. Once I got to the window, the woman practically threw my bag of food at me, ran my card and slammed the window shut. No thank you's or even a simple greeting. Disrespectful. I'll go eat somewhere else from now on. Food wasn't even worth it.

My boyfriend and I had just finished up a jeep ride and ziplining and were starving. On the recommendation from the guys who were running the ziplining we headed over to Alfonso's. The building looks like it had been a former fast food restaurant. I probably would not have gone in here had it not been recommended to us. I am glad we did. I think we ordered food enough for 10 people. Their burritos are good. The refried beans were some of the best I have ever had. Who knew that refried beans could be that good. If we had a cooler with us, I probably would have ordered more food and taken it back to the hotel with us. The place is not fancy, but good food made up for that.

From the outside this place looks like a typical mexican joint, very colorful and full of flair. On the inside clean and simple walk up counter.You are greeted by friendly wait staff that are very quick to answer any questions you have. The drive thru was very busy for a small bussines so this was promising. It took awhile to decide what we wanted to order. Once we figured that out we took a seat. th food was ready in no time. I ordered the Carne asada plate and oh man I was greeted with very tasty food. The beans were to die for and the meat melted in my mouth. My daughter had a bean and cheese burrito. The beans alone made this a tasty burrito add sharpness of the cheese and I was in heaven. My wife had the beef taco salad. The taco shell was delicous as well as the toppings. I found the meat to be tasty but I perfer chicken to beef in my taco salads. Last but not least my son had the super nachos... omg. these were the bomb. carna asada on thick homemade chips with all the toppings... to die for. The portions are big and the price is perfect for a family of 4 with it being less than 10 per head.There was plenty of food left over to take back to the hotel and much on. We will be returning when we are back in town to get our grub on. thanks for wonderful food and service.

If you are coming here for stellar service or great ambiance, keep driving. Most of the staff does not speak English and could use a few classes on etiquette. But if you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is a great find. The tortillas are made there as well as the salsas. The Mole they serve is exceptional and is the best Mole I have had since living in Guatemala. The burritos are also really good. I have come there many times and had the chicken burrito. It is a healthy size burrito, and the chicken was great! All said, if you have been to Mexico and come in expecting the style and quality of traditional mexican restaurants; then this is a good choice.

Yeah it is kind of like the dives we have back home in Santa Barbara, I guess that's why I love it...it is the most authentic Mexican food I've had in Colorado since I've been here. Albeit, I haven't been to a lot of Mexican restaurants, but the few I have, were too Americanized if you know what I mean.

This place is so good! Well, the food is excellent, even though the interior is quite...old. The horchata is amazing, and so are the burritos (they're good-sized, eat one and be full). I haven't had any problems with the service (guess I'm lucky?), but I would have to agree with ordering through the drive-thru or to-go. Otherwise, a little place with great food :)

Awesome late night drunk food. I never get anything with meat in it, especially chicken, it always seems undercooked to me. The bean and cheese burrito is what you want. I also have photographic evidence of a twisty tie that was lodged in my friend's burrito.

Ambiance: Run down, dingy fast food joint with drive thru. A few old plastic/wooden booths inside from the 1970s. Service: Absolutely terrible! I have been here a few times now, and the same woman is working the counter. On my last visit, I waited about three minutes, while the "help" was visiting in the back (wish they had a bell or something). The woman comes out, says absolutely nothing to me, just stares at me (and a hard, cold stare it was - kinda scary). I order, and then she hands me my food, whole transaction never said a word to me. Maybe she doesn't speak English, but a please or thank you is in order. Anyway, I get to my car to discover she didn't give me any salsa. I go back in to ask for some, and she practically threw three containers at me. Wow! Food: Anyway, the food here is better than Taco Bell, but not up to par as the other similar drive-thru Mexican places in town such as Monica's, Taco Express or Taco Star. Usually places like this have better tacos than the ones you find in sit-down Mexican places. Not this establishment! I literally had grease running down my hands from the taco. The meat was grisly and over-cooked. The fish tacos were equally greasy. My last visit was probably just that, my last visit. With so many other and better options for quick taqueria-style Mexican food in Colorado Springs, you would be best to avoid this spot.

IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN ALFONSO'S! - Hear me out...the place is dirty. Yes, it's a dive. The bathrooms? Don't go in there. HOWEVER, the Mexican food is OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD! Their bacon, egg, and potato breakfast burrito is the best breakfast burrito I've ever eaten. Their "student special" is a great deal. Get this...you don't even have to be a student to get it! Wooohooo! The horchata is pretty good too. I have literally eaten at Alfonso's over 50 times and continue to do so whenever I get the chance. My advice would be to get it to go or use their drive-thru! Mmm Mmm.

Don't know what Sibby is talking about - Friendliest people this side of Mexico - Taco Bell not even close - Taco Bell is not Mexican Food it is American - Alfonso's is Mexican food at it's best. Eat there when ever we go down the mountain. Burrito's are so Great we almost forget to try the other items on the menu - So far everything we have had has been great - Cooked when you order NOT cooked ahead and set under a light. I can not say enough about Alfonso's - as a matter of fact I think I will go to breakfast there tomorrow Sounds so Good. Try it!
