Always come here when I'm in Grand Jct. . Can't find these YUMMY Chile Rellenos any where in Cali. Today wait staff was a little slow but I don't find that to be the norm.

Unfortunately I have to agree with most of the 3-star and under reviews. I had high hopes for "Destination Dos" after hearing their radio adds and seeing their TV adds over the years. But now I feel like they should take some of that advertising money and invest it in higher quality food. My wife and I had the traditional chili relleno, which was definitely the highlight of the meal, a monument burrito, a house margarita, and a peach blended margarita. Generally, the food tasted un-fresh and mostly flavorless. The peach margarita was pretty good, but the house one was syrupy and I wondered if it had any tequila in it at all. Our waitress was pretty much emotionless and clearly was ready to go home. Sorry Hombres, but we would love some more flavorful, quality Mexican food and friendly service.

The worst. Pre-packaged, out of a bag guacamole (really, people? You're a Mexican restaurant!), awful margaritas (obviously a cheap sweet and sour mix, and my "on the rocks" margarita had just a few ice cubes floating on the top) and abysmal service. Our server finally greeted us with a sour "What do you want to drink?" after we'd been waiting for nearly 10 minutes, all the while we are one of two tables in the entire place. She was grouchy and rude throughout our meal (like, I'd cringe when she got close) and when she wasn't at our table bringin' the mean, she was SITTING DOWN at the one other table (with customers she clearly knew). There wasn't one redeeming quality and we will never be back or speak positively about this place. We wanted to switch it up from our usual Mexican favorite, Leon's, but lesson learned! If you're reading this, JUST GO TO LEON'S!

I really wanted to give this place a chance since my friends talked about what great food they had and they wanted to meet for dinner, but I was far from impressed. I was happy to see that they have one of my favorite local brews on tap (Dirty Hippie, Palisade Brewing Co.) but the complimentary chips and salsa appeared old and watery so I didn't try a sample. I ordered the carne asada with beans and rice, and when they brought me the dish I initially thought I had received the wrong meal. Carne asada should be tender, juicy, and flavorful, and what I received was a tough, dry, flavorless chunk of overcooked beef that did not appear to have been spiced or marinated in any way. The beans weren't much better and were topped with a commercial shredded cheddar cheese blend, and the rice was dry and bland. This was served with a tiny cup of pico de gallo and "guacamole"-the pico was pretty good but the other cup was nothing more than mashed avocado. Needless to say, I won't be returning. I'll stick with my favorite haunt that hasn't let me down yet: El Tapatio in Fruita.

I like this place! The service is pretty good, the food is good and the portions are gut busting! Good selection and a selection of hot/medium salsas. Because it is popular, it is often crowded and gets a bit noisy!

Dos Hombres offers consistent Mexican food. Their seafood enchiladas with a sour cream jalapeno sauce are especially great. Topped with fresh avocado slices and served with black beans, rice and a small amount of lettuce salad.

If you are looking for Taco Bell on a plate, you will love this place. If you want real Mexican food look elsewhere.

We walked through the door to the bar tender practically laying on the bar talking to a patron and had to ask if we seated ourselves or if there was a hostess. We were told to seat ourselves and waited quite a while for the bartender to finish her conversation and wait on us. We ordered and our food came fairly fast. Luckily I like cheap Mexican food, so enjoyed it. Other than the very very uninviting environment and very unfriendly staff, our food was good. Will not be seeking this place out though.

Went here and the food was good. Salsa is real mild, I like more heat. And the cabbage wasn't my favorite. Buuuuuut....the food is good and I always get fried ice cream.

I have been coming here and the other location for YEARS. Classic spot for this area. There is a reason that they have been in business all of these years. They are good and consistant. Service is always friendly. Great drinks. A must for anyone in this area!

More like a bar that mainly does Mexican. Actually the food was quite good and I would go back if passing by on the I-70

My parents have been eating here for decades and always enjoy the food and the excellent personalized service. The restaurant moved from a spot in a nearby strip mall and is now housed in a lovely standalone building custom built for it. The Coronado Tostada is my mother's consistent successful order. My father enjoyed a dish that was off the menu developed especially for him after some health issues. The long time chef, Annie, has retired and is missed. But the new cook team seems to have found their footing and is turning out good food. Whenever I visit we have at least one meal here, sometimes more. We are always greeted with enthusiasm and served with care. Sharon is super, providing efficient service with personalized conversation and showing a real interest in us and others she serves. I typically order the Southwest Chicken Fried Steak with Chimayo Red Chile Sauce. This is a good sized pounded steak that has been breaded and fried. You can pick the gravy or topping you want. I prefer the Chimayo Chile sauce, a northern New Mexico style red sauce. The meal comes with a salad and the choice of one side. I request the salsa, from the chips and salsa, to use as the dressing on the salad. It adds a nice zing compared to normal dressings. And for the side, I have a hard time choosing between the posole, a pile of corn hominy cooked with some chile and tomatoes and spices, and the sweet Mexican Corn Casserole, a moist cornbread with some corn kernels and sweetness and spices that make it uniquely wonderful. It is a great counterpoint to the red chile sauce and is almost a dessert. You can't go wrong either way.

Run don't walk the other direction. This place has so many negatives. First there was a bite taken out of our fajita tortilla even the waiter was speechless. We should have got up there. 2nd they were vacuuming by our table kicking up a dust storm. 3rd the food was weird and bland. Save your money not impressive.

We were visiting from the front range and stopped in for dinner. Overall, a good solid Mexican meal. Mexican casserole side dish was the highlight. While the coconut margarita had a nice flavor I am sure that there was no alcohol in the drink.

I figure this is about the "whitest" (forgive the sweeping generalization) attempt at Tex-Mex I've ever ingested. I think this kind of thing would have been fine 15 years ago when authentic Mexican food wasn't in the vernacular of your average diner. If your unadventurous grandparents want Mexican food, this'd be a great spot. (did this a year or two ago, and they were very happy). The place is clean. It's not a hole in the wall. It's masquerading as a Mexican restaurant, however. I also get the impression most of the food is pre-made. Wouldn't eat there.

Awesome Mexican food! They have a lot of great margaritas and the green chili is awesome! Could use bigger tvs in the bar though.

Adequate food. Service okay. Ambiance was above average. One of those places where nothing was horrible, but I wasn't impressed by anything either.

Pretty good, I think this was a win considering we hit Grand Junction around 9:00pm on our way home from a road trip and basically had no idea where we were to begin with. I did feel like there were maybe some regional differences in the preparation compared to what I have come to expect from sit-down Mexican restaurants in Southern California (which I'm not really a fan of in general, I think run down holes in the wall are where you eat Mexican food). It wasn't exactly a good thing or a bad thing, just a different flavor profile than I'm used to, but overall pretty good and reasonably priced.

Good food at a decent price. For Grand Junction restaurants this place is actually great. The staff is really good and quality of food is not that bad.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
