Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Mama would be proud. We ordered the following: Calamari - would not order again, but not bad. Sausage and Peppers - wow, amazing. Chicken Franchaise - crispy lemon chicken with fettuccine Alfredo, yum! Spumoni - nummy! Tiramisu - eh, just ok. I prefer to go to the Greek bakery. Cheesecake - yes yes yes, when grandma comes to town, we are going just so she can have some. Each entree was served with a light pasta soup and a house salad, but acceptable. The patio is a beautiful area shaded by large canopies and a luscious tree to the western setting sun. Friday night there was a talented older gentlemen playing the accordion. It was romantic and beautiful. Beer and wine are offered. Lambrusco and Roscato were sweet and delicious. We will go back.

Not sure where the bad reviews come from because this place rocks! I've been driving past it for years so about a month ago my fiancé and I decided to try it out. Since then we've been back there two more times. The service has been great ever time, just the right combination of attentiveness but not "hovering". And friendly!! We have had the calzones, the spaghetti, the ravioli and love them all. Looking forward to making this at least a twice a month stop for great Italian.

This place use to be in the DTC area, use to go there for lunch. It was always good. While in the neighborhood, I saw it. I have to say, it was better than ever. Portions are big, prices are good and the desert was fantastic! The place is welcoming, the staff is awesome. I will be back and I highly recommend this place for good italian food.

The pasta is a step above Fazoli's- definitely not worth the $15-$18 price point. The minestrone tasted like canned tomatoes and had mushy pasta (the kids said it tasted like spaghetti-o's!) and the salad was drowned with a sugary Italian dressing. However, the cheese calzone was really fantastic... Maybe I'll try a pizza if I go back. There were plenty of people to take dishes away and fill your water, and the service was good. The cheesecake was really the only thing to truly rave about, but it wasn't enough to make up for the bland lobster ravioli and the very boring linguini with clam sauce (there wasn't even enough liquid to dip my bread in). So, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend, but I might go back to try the pizza...

Ok so we needed a quick dinner and we're tired of the chain pizzerias and wanted to support the local guy. Have been here for dinners previously and had great experiences. Ordered 2 large pies for pick up, the veg and the margarita pizza and were sorely disappointed. To get canned tomatoes, canned sliced olives and canned mushrooms, (the worst ingredient) for $40.00 very disappointing! Should have gone back to the chain as the ingredients are fresh!

my friend took me here for my birthday, it was the worst meal i ever had. i had cooked in restaurants and went to cooking school. we both had the homemade pasta amd meat balls and soup and salad. the soup was so full of pepper i could not eat it , the sald was plain iceburg and two tomatoes. the pasta was heavy and had no taste. the meat ball was not much better, they had a nerve to give food like this and charge a high price. eat at olive garden. this is not a good mom and pop place.

It was very disappointing.... Ordered calamari frozen "calamari sticks".... Not fresh at all. Added a Caesar salad to our entrees , instead got iceberg lettuce with Italian sauce that was tasteless at best. Finally got our entrees and yes it's a lot but flavor profile lacks taste. I honestly have had better from a can of chef boyardee!!! A shame since I drive by this place on my way to work everyday .... I will not be back.

I wanted to try someplace "new" for lunch. Technically, I had been to this place once before (almost 10 years ago). I had been there with a group for dinner, and recalled it as being pretty good. The lunch sandwiches here come with a small bag of Lay's potato chips, and as others mentioned, this is a pretty uninspired offering. I went ahead and added a dinner salad to my meal. It was extremely basic. A base of iceberg lettuce (with one darker leaf) a slice of tomato, a pinch of shredded carrot, and one small slice of pepperoni. I had this with Italian dressing on the side. If you did a web search for a picture of a generic dinner salad, this would be it. After perusing the other reviews, I decided to try the "Old Fashioned Italian Grinder" sandwich. I was not happy with it at all. It was described on the menu as thinly sliced meatballs and sausage with marinara and cheese. Instead the meatballs and sausage were basically crumbled meat paste stewed with marinara. I described it to my waiter as trying to eat a "spaghetti sauce sandwich". He quickly offered to bring me something else and suggested the Meatball Sandwich or the Chicken Parm Sandwich. I went with the Meatball. Although they cut up the meatballs, there were big enough chunks to provide some texture. The flavor of the meatballs was decent, but not great. They were a bit bland and somewhat too soft. They also had (in my opinion) put too much marinara on the sandwich. The bread was okay, but the excess sauce made it very soggy. Service was good and prices were reasonable. If I had really enjoyed anything I had eaten this would be a 3-star review. I am very appreciative that they quickly made me a new sandwich (no questions asked). I would be willing to come back to try the pasta.

After many many years of being absent (ignoring) finally decided to check out this joint. What turned me off last time (over 5 years ago) was serving of soup that was not even cooked. on this visit, we were greeted by the owner and offered us the best table in the restaurant. Right next to the portrait of mama Louis. You know how other restaurants try to reserve 4 seaters for 4 and give tiny ones for two. Not him. Giving extra kudo for that! Fast forward, my salad was so so. Just plain looking one. chopped romaine lettuce kind. i guess better than the ice-burg or kinds you get premixed at local grocers. pasta soup was ok too. definitely homemade flavors. since we ordered garlic bread deluxe (ones with melted cheese), didn't get the garlic knots but was still looking forward to it. i ordered the linguine with clams and when i got the plate, it was kinda disappointing. I was expecting deep dish with lots of pasta, lots of actual shelled clams but came out on shallow dish with less of noodles and definitely no shelled clams. Actual menu description says tender chopped clams and can't argue about that. My expectation was quite different but it was still good. If I were to go back, leave out the starters, and definitely not order egg plant parmigiana and linguine with clams.

Great food. Authentic Italian restaurant. Owner pay homage to his mother's old world recipes. Great atmosphere. You can tell it's a great place when the staff have been there for years. Love it and will keep coming back!

I have to say, I used to love this place until the owner and his staff were extremely rude to our family. The food is fantastic, but I would rather not be treated the way we were. We had our 70 year old grandparents come visit us from Florida and one of the places they wanted to return to, was Mama Louise's. They are Italian and the fact they loved it speaks volumes, since they are very particular about Italian food. When they came to CO the first time, we sat out on their patio under the party lights and there was even an accordion player. We had endless amounts of wine and pasta. It was awesome. When they came back a year later, I called to try and reserve a table for our large party of 15. I was told that was absolutely NOT an option and we would need to come early if we even wanted to attempt to sit outside again. We got there around 4:30-5:00 PM, but there was no room for us. I asked if we could wait and got nothing but a hostile attitude and a "no" so we decided to take a table inside. I was shocked that even after we explained that they came all the way from Florida, they would still be this rude, but wow, they didn't care one bit. Looking back, I wish I had taken my family somewhere else and I will do just that when they come for another visit. I would suggest you go to Armando's where the food and customer service is way better. :)

I was SO excited to try a new local Italian restaurant, but unfortunately it's not really cutting it for me. My friends and I arrived on a Monday night for dinner before going to see Day of the Doctor (AWESOME!). I walked in and was glad to find a warm, friendly atmosphere, just looking at the checkered red and white table cloth made me hungry. There were two other tables so it's not a very busy night. We sat down and started looking at the menu. The prices were ok, not great, just ok... but I figured if it's great food, it's worth it. Unfortunately, that's all it is, it's just ok. The food was... edible. My friend had the pesto sauce and my bf had their ravioli. I tried both and they were both unimpressive. The meal was so unimpressive that I don't even remember what I had. The service was worse than unimpressive. The waiter we had looks like he didn't want to be working that night. When I asked what is in the soup, he just named off the ingredients as if he's so tired of explaining it for the last 30 years. It's to bad the service didn't match with the warm and friendly charming decor of the restaurant. It's too bad, there aren't many non-chain restaurants over there, but I don't think we'll be back.

You want intimate relaxing atmosphere with great food? This is where to go for Italian. Never a wait, the staff are all extra friendly and the food is top notch. Try the all meat calzone. Absolutely delicious!
(5)Ryan K.
Food was decent. Service good. Atmosphere lovely. Looking for authentic Italian though, this is not it. Noodles are store bought and food was okay, but bland. Will meet up with friends here but not go out of my way for it...

We've been to this place many years ago and had nothing than bad memories. Last Friday night our friends talked us in to give them a new chance - and it turned out that the experience was a DISASTER again. Starting from our waitress chewing on her gum while asking us for our order and bringing the food to the table - EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING we had was a disappointment. The appetizer soup (celeri and pasta) was totally oversalted. Our friend had the "Half and Half Combo" and she didn't eat more than some forks - and did not want take it home in a box. My wife had Lobster Ravioli (highly recommended by the gum-chewing girl) and she believes it was average at best. 4 pieces of pasta and pureed fish paste (maybe lobster?). The worst was my order. I ordered Shrimp Fettucine Alfredo. A good portion of spaghetti, 4 (really 4) shrimps almost uncooked and some kind of white very watery sauce. The whole thing with absolutely no taste at all! I cannot remember having such a bad food for a long long time!!! The owner came to the table asking for compliments and when he heard what we all had to say decided to take 10% of our bill. We'll NEVER come back - it's our promise! We leave this place to all the other so excited guest and we will find better food somewhere else.

I REALLY, REALLY want to love this place. It's about a mile from my house. I pass by it daily. I tried it with my wife years ago and thought it was meh. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything memorable. My wife was less impressed. I've been thinking "this place has survived many years in questionable economic times. They must have improved." I used this very logic to convince my wife to return this evening. Well, it hasn't improved. Each entree starts with soup. It was meh. Tomato broth, shell pasta, celery, and spices. Next course was a salad with a forgettable Italian dressing. I had the Chicken Parmigiana for $15.25. It was a sizeable portion. I'll finish it tomorrow for lunch. This was the second best part of the meal. My wife had shrimp alfredo for $15.25. The shrimp was flavorless...not the "shrimp are the fruit of the sea" promise of Bubba. The pasta and Alfredo sauce were fine. My son had a small pepperoni pizza for $11.25 that was weird tasting. The best part of the meal was the $22 bottle of chianti. All in all, spent around $70 plus tip and left wishing we'd gone elsewhere. I've given this place a fair chance...two even. Sure wish it was better.
(2)Erica G.
Good service. Decent food & fair prices. Pros: quick, friendly & generous portions Cons: marinara sauce lacks flavor. Garlic knots have no garlic - very bland
(3)Danielle S.
We LOVE the food here. The Italian Sausage is amazing as is the Eggplant Rollatini!! The Mama Louise pasta is also very tasty. Very authentic flavors.
(5)Edward A.
What a gem. Small dining room with a family feel. Soft American Italian music playing in the background. The service was great. Fast abd freindly. The food was really good. I got the Calimari appetizer. I admit it looked strange but it was very good. The pizza was the star. Not just for Denver but for anywhere. Nice crispy crust. Tangy sauce and plenty of cheese. Its not one if those "foody" style pizzas. It is a great version of American style pizza. Will be going back to try sone of their pasta dishes.
(5)Scott M.
First off, the service at Mama Louise is outstanding. The staff is constantly filling glasses and clearing tables. They wouldn't even allow our little paper napkin wraps to sit on the table for more than a minute after we unwrapped our silverware. If only the food were as good. The soup: shell noodles and celery in a red broth. blah The salad: small, very basic salad on a saucer. blah The main course: Cheese ravioli with meatballs. I believe the raviolis were store-bought. The cheese inside the ravioli looked like a paste and didn't taste much better. The red sauce was a very basic red tomato sauce. The meatballs seemed more like a meat paste than ground beef. Again, probably store-bought and prepackaged meatballs. blah The wine: I ordered a glass of red wine which, for some reason, came chilled very cold. The bottom of the glass was a bit chunky. The last sip revealed a nickel-sized chunk of wine sediment that coated the glass. I believe I got the last glass from the bottle and they stuck the bottle in the refrigerator after opening it long, long ago. yuck A+ for the service, but the food just doesn't cut it.
(2)Jade W.
Everyone I have taken here loves it! The staff is great - you never have to wait or want for anything. The food is delicious - the faves are the Chicken Franchaise, mixed sauces with the spicy Italian sausage and the Sangria. Take desert home with you because you will be stuffed due to the portion sizes.
(5)Rich P.
Read reviews of others so decided to try mama Louise. I will say the decor was nice and the service was very good but being a New Yorker, my expectations were higher for the food. Frozen calamari, (I assume the mussels were as well). Had the chicken franchaise and was surprised the chicken was breaded. Real franchaise is cooked in flour. In addition, linguine came on the same plate so the lemon sauce from the chicken mixed with the Alfredo sauce. Not a pleasant combination. Won't visit again
(2)Joey H.
This is the aurora version of fazolis. The food is lackluster and is definitely what you pay for; it's cheap and basic. This is not the fancy small Italian joint you try to get into for dates or valentines day dinner. You should definitely not drive out of your way to eat here. It's got all the home-ec class basics I'm sure small children enjoy like spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Parmesan and ravioli, but nothing you couldn't make yourself.
(2)Randi W.
As usual really good service as well as food. Always get the home made spaghetti with meatballs. Really good prices for lunch. My mother and I just got done and it was only $20 for our meal. If you have the room for it get the tiramisu too.
(5)Janis M.
We ate a disappointing meal last night the soup was a bowl of sea shell boxed pasta with 2 beans and 1/2 inch of broth The iceberg salad was cafeteria quality The "lightly sautéed " chicken was heavily breaded, pounded, and greasy The eggplant ricotta was all too rich and little eggplant Why is the pasta on the side?
(4)Joe J.
My family and I love this place! We used to go to the competition for our Italian dinner nights out! But now Mama Louise is definately our dining destination for good "Real Italian cooked pasta dinner!!" Kent the owner is always such a gracious host. My wife enjoys the ravioli dinner. My son the kids pizza. And I always get the spicy Rigatoni extra spicy. The pasta fagioli is always SO good. Homemade soup to start your meal. The Italian eggroll appetizer and the garlic knots with salad are AMAZEBALLS!! GREAT JOB Mama Louise keep it up.
(5)Keri F.
I really liked this place. I have heard about it for years and drive by it every day. My husband and I finally decided to check it out, and we're glad we did. Everything was delicious! I grew up with home cooked Italian meals and I always have a hard time finding an Italian joint I like. I finally found it!
(5)Kristine N.
Very home-y atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. Large portions, lots of extra sides, and decent prices. Our entrees came with a salad, soup, and garlic rolls. No complaints but nothing to rave about. The chicken franchaise is their house special and the chicken is so crispy and so delicious. It wasn't all breading and wasn't dripping with oil. Came with fettuccine alfredo, yum. The pasta Louise was meatballs over rigatoni. It claimed to have spicy meat sauce but we didnt taste much spice at all. Could have used a little more sauce too. Still good though, regardless.
(3)David S.
Mama Louise has average Italian food. That said, the value for what you get is superb. Every meal comes with homemade minestrone, salad, and garlic knots, all for the same price that comparable quality restaurants in the vicinity charge for just the entree. The parmigiana, I have had all three types, is tasty. The rolled lasagna is one of my favorites. Would I suggest Mama Louise's for a business dinner? Probably not, unless I knew that the other person enjoyed typical east coast family style Italian for dinner.
(3)Jessica J.
Mama Louise is a solid 4 stars. Yelp has encouraged my husband and I to expand our horizons when it comes to our local restaurants. So when we wanted to eat out tonight we glanced at where we hadn't gone. Mama Lousie is in the corner of a strip mall off Orchard and Parker. It is a small space, but as you walk in you are wrapped up in its charm. Red & White checkered table clothes? Check! Dean Martin martin music wafting through the dining room? Check! Italian landscape photos? Check! We sat down and enjoyed excellent service from appetizer to entree. All entrees come with minestrone soup and a house salad (plus a garlic knot). All the food was fresh and homemade (maybe not my rigatoni noodles, but all else). The table near us also got a pizza that looked heavenly too. It is truly an excellent local establishment!
(4)Stephen S.
One thing to keep in mind when choosing this restaurant: It is NOT an Olive Garden! The food is great, somewhat subdued but man, what flavors. The menu is simple and very easy to read and understand and everything on it is wonderful. Service is great, family atmosphere, every time we've eaten there the owner comes to our table and asks us how everything was (we've never had an issue to report). Quite frankly, we love the place. The only quibble I could have is the iceberg lettuce salad but even that works, overall.
(5)MJ L.
First visit on a valentines day: we didn't have reservations anywhere and learned that mama Louise which doesn't take reservations, was looking at 30-40 min wait time. This, in comparison to 2 hr waits at other places or dinning at 10pm, was attractive. We got there around 7:30 & were seated around 8:20ish, so it was better than any alternative. The restaurant itself is a corner space in a strip mall. The space is fairly decorated - paintings on the walls were done up like old Italian walls with flowers, it was ok. Tables and chairs were not the fanciest either but at least featured red-white checkered vinyl table clothes. Server was quick to take our drink orders even before some of us actually sat down. Which I thought was a bit rude. I know it was on a busy valentine's day, but give us a second to settle down at least. Drinks came out pretty fast as did apps. Calamari & bruschetta were both pretty good. In fact, calamari was one of the better ones I've tried among many Italian joints in the past couple years. The dinner comes with minestrone soup AND salad, not either, or. Soup was decent and salad was nothing to write home about. My rigatoni w sausage & mushrooms was pretty good. I had a chance to sample chicken Fran and that was delightful, wish I had that instead. The entree portion size was just right esp after soup & salad, in fact, I couldn't finish it all. But if it was without pre-dinner stuff, the portion size would be considered smallish by most. Food alone, I'd rate this place 4 stars but I deducted 1 for service. While we were still half way through our entrees, a waitress came over asking us if we wanted boxes! One of us had a fork full of food in mid-air! It was comical to see him freeze with disbelief, mouth gaping open with forkful of food half way to its home. Comedy aside, it was clear we were not even close to being done with our meals. Rude, rude, rude! I peeked at the entry area but there was no one waiting at the time and there were a couple of tables empty in the restaurant as well, so that wasn't a valentines day turn over thing either. Plus, I have been asked if I wanted more wine at least 3 times during the meal while my glass was clearly at least half full - obviously the waiter was a glass is half-empty kinda guy. Will I give this place another try? Perhaps when I'm in the area and craving crispy, yummy chicken, yes.
(3)Andrew P.
Friendly staff with a great mom and pop atmosphere. I wouldn't have known about this place had my friend not do his traditional drive-by foursquare check-in. Each entree comes with soup and salad. The soup was good, but the salad was a little weak: they didn't dry off the lettuce enough so it watered down my dressing. Otherwise good sized portions for the price and good flavor. Me and my wife were the youngest people there by at least twenty years. We got there at 7pm on a weeknight. Oh the south-bound traffic on Parker Rd to get there was terrible. Take Chambers and cut across the residential area to get there.
(4)Jason J.
Mama Louise is in a small strip mall off of Orachard and Parker Rd. Blink and you'll miss it! The inside is small and cozy and has a very romantic atmosphere. There's a water fountain right when you walk in and cute statues are strewn throughout the restaurant. The food was excellent. Every entree comes with a bowl of soup, a salad, and a garlic knot. It really was almost too much food. I had my staple - house spaghetti with meatballs - and it was most excellent. The service was extremely good as well. My diet pepsi never got completely empty and the second we finished a plate it disappeared like magic.

Food was decent. Service good. Atmosphere lovely. Looking for authentic Italian though, this is not it. Noodles are store bought and food was okay, but bland. Will meet up with friends here but not go out of my way for it...

We went with another couple on Saturday April 9 & arrived at 5:30pm. Plenty of seating at that time. If warmer might have sat on the patio, but would still need a jacket because of the season. This is second time my wife & I ate at the restaurant. First time our friends introduced us to the restaurant. about 2 months ago. We thought this would be an opportunity to catch up with some other friends and see how Mama's food was the second time around. All of us just ordered main dishes and no appetizers or desserts. Starters is their Salad Dressing with homemade Italian dressing. Dressing slightly sweet flavor on an iceberg salad mix. Very good, light and not overpowering. The minestrone soup also part of the standard dinner offering came out hot and flavorful. Had a bit more spicy black peppery taste than I usually associate with minestrone, nonetheless very good. Did hear a few people at other tables cough/choke on their soup, caught them off guard, I would say. Still again -good flavor- Try it, just be prepared. What was ordered. Me: Chicken Parmesan w/ Mama Louise meat sauce. Very good, I would order this instead of the standard sauce. My Wife: Lasagna, Anita: Chicken Franchaise, Dan: Rigatoni? What was very tasty and unexpected surprise is the Sauce for the Chicken Franchaise, You tasted the subtle lemon & buttery flavor together and separately at the same time combined with the crisp texture of the chicken. Very delicious. I will order it the next time. Both chicken breast for the two dishes well prepared, moist, succulent and cooked just right without that rubbery or overcooked texture you sometimes get at other restaurant. As in other reviews I read, the staff does "swarm" around you a bit, and you can feel like they are trying to rush you out, but the feeling is not that intrusive. Since I came from NYC decades ago, it didn't bother me that much. Overall, the pasta in our meal was al dente (expected from an Italian restaurant). My Friends lived in Italy for several years and said the food was very authentic, some of it slightly altered to American taste, but they would definitely come back.

Great little place! This is a nice little restaurant and the food is great. They have really good deals on wine as well. Also, be sure to try the sangria!

We tried Mama Louise last night finally after two long years of wanting to go there. When you walk in it is totally family owned Italian restaurant. I felt like I was back in New Jersey with my family eating at a place there. The service is wonderful and timed out perfectly. They start you out with a minestrone soup, that honestly is not very good. Next they bring out a salad that is nothing special, but still just a fine salad. The food we ordered however was so good! I ordered the house specialty. Breaded chicken with a lemon sauce and fettuccine. I wanted to lick my plate clean. Also, with your meal you are served delicious garlic knots. My boyfriend ordered a pasta with a pesto sauce and chicken. He loved his, and I also tried it and wanted to keep eating it. We finished dinner with a cannoli to share. Once again, it reminded me of a cannoli from Jersey with my family. Soup and salad aside, the main course food is delicious. They know what they are doing and have made me a repeat customer. I can not wait to eat there again. Thank you Mama Louise!

I have been here twice now. If the review was based solely off of customer service I would give this place 4 stars however I like good food so that's why I must say I have experienced much better. The food is really the issue, the last time I was here nothing tasted fresh and it left an unpleasant aftertaste. Overall the food is fast-food quality at a much higher price. The staff is very attentive making sure that your drinks are always full, clearing plates as you are finished and overall extremely polite. The owner makes his presence known and says hello to every table. The restaurant is really cute, very Italian themed decor; there is exposed brick, a running stone water fountain and really beautiful lighting. There is a couple over the top items that seem kitschier such as gold statues and a painted mural. There are two tv's in the wall not what I was expecting for an Italian dining experience with no bar. They were not busy only about five other tables so there was no wait. They serve beer and wine only no bar. My husband and I split the mussels for an appetizer ($8.50) and the lobster ravioli as the main dish ($15.25). Honestly I could do without both the soup and salad; however they come with every main dish. The salad is iceberg lettuce with radish slices a pepperoncini and a slice of tomato, I didnt have any and he didn't finish it. The minestrone is ok but mostly broth and shell noodles not many veggies just large pieces of celery and a few beans, we didn't finish this either. The mussels were strange they came on a half shell; usually mussels are served in their entire shell steamed open. Some were dried out and over cooked, some were fishy so didn't finish them. The lobster ravioli tasted like is was frozen food that had been reheated, we did finish this as we were both starving and there were three raviolis per person. The pasta was very dense, the filing was very chewy, and the sauce was basic tomato cream sauce with a ton of garlic. One good thing was the garlic knot which was crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. The server did split our main dish on two plates which is really nice and gave us each a garlic knot. I really like the effort from the staff to please the consumer. First time I came here I ordered the Chicken Fran chaise ($15.25). This is a breaded chicken breast cooked in lemon butter sauce, on Fettuccini Alfredo pasta. It's their house specialty and it was good. They have really large portions so I was only able to eat half. The chicken dish was why I decided to return last night and try something else, but obviously I was not impressed.

If you looking for a great hole in the wall Italian food, this place is it. Great food, great people. a very enjoyable experience. Prices are alittle higher then I expected but I'm a firm believer that you pay for what you get. I will be back

Nothing fancy, but sooooo good. Old fashioned family style italian. If you are looking for your food to have exotic names or interesting cream sauces go to a chain restaurant. This is the good stuff like if you were having a classic New York Italian meal. Chicken Franchaise is the best thing on the menu, perfect mix of sweet and salt. Split that dish with the pasta Louise and you are in heaven. Have been going here for over 6 years and will never stop going.

Don't get me wrong the food was good but the customer service sucked! First my date and I called to ask what street they were on at which the host put me on hold but didn't cover the phone. So I basically heard her and I assume a server arguing about giving me directions and how they didn't care and were too busy. Then someone picked up the phone and gave me the excuse that they were having a bad night! We almost changed our minds but I really wanted some Italian food. We had lasagna and chicken Alfredo which were both good but we felt rushed!

I went there for dinner tonight. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff couldn't have been happier that I was there. The owner made a point to ask me how things were and appreciate that I was there. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs, which was excellent. I've been on a hunt for a good red sauce and meatball and they had it. The entree came with soup and salad, which was a waste of calories. The soup was ok, but the salad was pretty blek. It had a bunch of lettuce, a tomato, a cucumber and some dressing. Nothing more. A fabulous house salad would be a nice touch. My son got pizza, which was really blah. It tasted like it had been microwaved. We will go back. I'd like to taste the calamari appetizer I've heard about and some of the wine. I really like how 'cozy' it was. I did think it was a little pricey.

Oh how it pains me to give out a two star review. However, when during an Italian dinner you have to ask yourself "how disappointed would Chef Boyardee would be if this meal splattered out of a can with his name on it?" My date ordered the Chicken Parmigian while I ordered the Pasta Louise; a dish that claimed to be served with a spicy marinara sauce, accompanied by meatballs, slices of Italian Sausage, and covered in mozzarella. Sounds good right? Sadly, no, it was almost as depressing to eat, as it is to watch one of those Sarah McLachlan commercials where she is rambling off while they show pictures of scared looking domesticated animals that are about to be put to sleep. Frankly, it was one of the most bland and disappointing dishes I have encountered in nearly a decade. While it's pretty hard to screw up breaded and deep fried chicken cutlet, my dates dish was also of weak-sauce status as well. In regards to the entirety of the meal, the minestrone served was greasier than a 14 year old boys hand during a parent free Saturday night filled with HBO Soft-core porn. (Gross scenario I'm aware, but I like to paint an honest picture) The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, two slices from a barely ripe tomato, a pepperoncini, all of which was smothered by Costco's finest Italian Dressing. All of the above listed courses along with the main entrée were served on plastic dinnerware. Maybe it's me, but if I'm spending over $60 for a two person dinner, I'd like to feel that I' am not at the kids table and my wine wasn't meant to have a sippy cup lid on it. Basically, I hate to say it but even the Olive Garden would have been a better solution for sustenance.

I'm sure we will be back to try other items on the menu, but I will decline my salad next time and ask for extra garlic knots! This place could get a little pricey rather quickly.

Talk about some Good-Ass Italian. Yes to Garlic, yes to pesto, yes to pasta. Typical setup with the checkered tablecloths and the Mama's boys waiters. It wasn't too crowded for a late lunch and man the food was delish. I had the pesto linguini with chicken and it was cooked perfectly, with the most brilliant sauce. Pesto's never tasted so good, and it came with this buttery little roll sprinkled with tasty spices. Down side, the salad was boring, literally, iceberg lettuce with one slice of tomato, one slice of pepperoni, one pepercini, and one slice of cucumber, and a little heavy on the ranch. I'm into salads and this one was under par. The other thing that wasn't too appealing was my bf ordered some hot sandwich dripping with cheese and sauce, and on his plate was a small bag of chips. Now if this had been a sandwich joint, that would have been fine, but came across as a bit tacky here. But damn, if you love sauce, and you love pasta, run, don't walk to this place. It's awesome. I'm usually very picky of Italian Restaurants so this 5 star rating was hard earned. Service at Mama Louise's was impeccable, even though my wife and I were there on a busy Friday night the service from the hostess, the waiter and the bus help was fast and friendly. The owner walking around the dining room checking on the customers is always a nice touch. The atmosphere was very nice even with the plastic coated checkered table cloths, the food & service more than made up for it. As for the food, my wife ordered the Lobster Raviolis and I had the Pasta Louise. Entrees come with both soup (Minestrone) and salad. I'm not sure what Chris J. had but the soup and salad I had was very good. The soup was NOT greasy but fresh made and spiced very well with plenty of black pepper. The salad was a nice mix of greens and the salad dressing was not overwhelming. I hate bottled dressing and I assure you this Italian dressing didn't taste like it came out of a bulk container. Pasta Louise is listed as "Spicy meat sauce with shaved meatballs and sausage over rigatoni" and they are not kidding about spicy! I love spicy and this dish didn't disappoint. If Chris J was served the same thing that I ate he should be sued for liable. This was one of the best spicy rigatoni dishes I've ever had in a restaurant. I sampled my wife's Lobster ravioli with a fresh tomato cream sauce and it was very tasty. I'm not usually one to enjoy cream sauces but I would order this dish. Even though this meal was huge and I was filling up half way through my entree I did manage to eat it all including the garlic knot then my wife and I shared a dish of Spumoni. The Spumoni was served beautifully with a scoop of each flavor of gelato. Mama Louise's is my kind of family run Italian restaurant and I'm sure we will be back to try other entrees on their menu.

My wife and I were trying to think of a place where we could have a meal that would be flavorful, yet affordable. We also wanted to drink a glass of wine while conversing about the long and hectic week that we had just completed. We both agreed on dining at the Mama Louise Italian Restaurant just down the street from where we live. We had not been here for quite some time, however we had fond memories of our previous visits. What an absolutely delicious meal and pleasant conversation we experienced this evening at Mama Louise's restaurant. We were the recipients of some of the most friendly service that we have received in quite some time. Our meals came with home made soup and a crisp salad. I ordered my favorite from the Specialty menu... "Chicken Franchaise" and my wife had one of the Classics... "Ravioli & Homemade Spaghetti w/Meatballs. Both meals were prepared perfectly and I'm convinced that you will never be able to match or beat their Chicken Franchaise. The owner came over at the end of our meal and we had a delightful conversation with him, as he spoke of his passion for perfection with all of his signature recipes. Now, it was Friday night and things were hopping for the staff, but he spent a few minutes with us and it was nice to see an independent business person so involved. We will not wait too long for a return visit and the next time we're bringing the neighbors. Why, you ask...because someplace this good has to be shared with others.

This place has stand out Italian Food and ambience for the Aurora/ Centennial area of town ! Small intimate dining area with the most wonderful ambience ! The food, belissimo! Make sure to go early or try to make a reservation because this place can get busy ! (That's a good sign right?). If you're feeling like a night in, they also have a take out menu !
(4)Nate P.
All the food tasted like it was out of a box and the waitress seemed annoyed to be there. There was a very limited menu and no Italian atmosphere at all. The only thing worth going there was the wine!
(2)Bridget M.
Chicken franchaise, garlic knots, spaghetti and calzones are amazing! Actually everything you get is good! New favorite place to eat!
(5)Cash B.
Went there again over Christmas with my family. Everything is basically the same except the price has risen quite a lot and it's not the great value that it once was. However, the Chicken Franchais is still AMAZING - the best thing on the menu by far. If you come here, get it. Still comes with a lame salad, great soup and a garlic knot on the side.

Birthday Dinner! Spinach Manicotti! Pumpkin Cheesecake! . . . and . . . Tiramisu! Good Italian wine . . . (Pass on the soup & salad . . . kind of non-descript!) Recommended by a friend! Nice atmosphere! Friendly family folks! I will be returning . . . birthday or not!

We had a wonderful dinner last night at Mama Louise! The owner Kent was so welcoming and treated us like royalty! The atmosphere was absolutely Italian style even down to the music. We wished we had known of this place years ago! The food was great! I am going back for the Chicken Francias! The Lasagna was wonderful too! The cheesecake was amazing! We were stuffed! Definitely the best Italian in the area! We can't wait until the patio opens up this spring. We will be there quite a bit! Thanks so much for the great food and hospitality! 5 star! - Aaron and Natalie Carrado

This review will be short and sweet....EXCEPTIONAL!!!!! My hubby already wrote his review so I won't go into everything in mine. The Lobster Ravioli dish was very very good....tomato cream sauce was excellent. Garlic Knot was super tasty, I just wish I had more than one!! Salad was fine, minestrone was tasty and we had Spumoni for dessert that was absolutely divine! Service was quick and the owner came over to ask how everything was...can't say anything bad about this place! We will be back!!

I lived on the east coast and the west coast and this is one of my favorite restaurants. Intimate, friendly and the chicken parmigiana rocks. Order the homemade spaghetti with it. My only knock is the special is not something I would recommend. The meatballs are some the best you have ever had.
(5)Sarah H.
Great food great value, you get soup salad and garlic knots with your entrees. Friendly staff beautiful view from the patio. I had the rigatoni with sausage and my husband the chicken Parmesan, very tasty with leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The soup was delicious I could eat it every day. Nice bottle of wine at a great price. I would choose this restaurant over Maggiano's any day.

Recommendation: A little family run Italian Restaurant with a few gems on the menu. Food: Let me start off by saying this isn't gourmet Italian - it's family Italian style food. Nothing that comes out of the kitchen is fancy, but they do have their meatballs down to a science. In fact my wife said that the meatball sandwich here is her #1 favorite thing to eat in all the world outside of dessert. Personally, I go for the grinder sandwich that adds in some nice spicy Italian sausage. The pizzas and calzones are good too. Even the lasagna was pretty tasty - especially when you throw in their fresh garlic knots. My only complaint is that I wish I had more options to go with the lunch time sandwiches - like a nice fresh Italian pasta salad instead of a bag of Lay's potato chips. Service: They have traditional table side service from the waitstaff and it's always the same couple of people. The owner is super friendly and the service is very attentive - especially at lunch. Price: Prices are so low here that I feel too guilty to use the coupons we get in the mail. My wife and I can eat lunch here for under $15 before the tip. Ambiance: The atmosphere is a mix between gangsta Italian and old country Italian. There are some Soprano's related items hanging on the walls along with your typical Italian themed decor. The two TVs in the place air Food Network and ESPN. It's a comfortable atmosphere, but don't expect to impress anyone by taking them here. Kids: They do have a kids menu that includes pizzas and pastas, so if your kids are down with that, they will fit right in at this family Italian restaurant.
(4)Chelsea H.
The best! The owner is fabulous, the food authentic, and the experience reminding me the most of home since I got here!!
(4)Chris L.
yeah went here with a friend, it wasn't busy but it was mid afternoon, I got the pasta louise which was recommended by the server. It was actully pretty good, they have alot of things on the menu that I would like to try, you get a soup or salad with an entree, soup was ok nothing special, only drawback was that the bread came out after we got our meal it was your standard garlic bread, I think if they would bring fresh bread out with butter and vinegar I think this place would be alot better, not sure on the wine collection as I didn't have any, all in all it was pretty good, I rate it better than olive garden, except olive garden will always have the awesome breadsticks
(4)Mahm O.
Service was average. Food was ok but nothing I would go out of my way for. For the price I'll keep going to Bent Noodle.
(3)Jules W.
Great service and a friendly staff. Always nice to see a locally owned restaurant (that's not in the best strip mall location) so happenin' on a Wednesday night. The wine was smooth an the food was good - and you get a lot! If you order an entree you get soup and salad too - you will not leave hungry. It's evident that the food is a mixture if fresh and packaged/frozen/canned, but it still tastes good and authentic. What's more the prices can't be beat! I'd go back for the food, prices and to support a local business.

My family and I were visiting and looking for a good Italian place. The hotel we were staying at recommended a few chains, but we wanted something local. We found Mama Louise and tried it out -- everyone was tired and irritable but this place boosted our spirits! The food was all fantastic. We knew things were going to be good when the house soup they brought out was DELICIOUS. Everyone loved their pasta! My girlfriend has very high standards for Italian food because she used to work at a great family-owned place when she as younger. This is the first Italian place we have been to together in 4 years that she thought had truly great food! Once we had all eaten, the owner or manager came out to chat with us -- it added a great personal touch as he was an extremely nice and friendly man. You can't go wrong with Mama Louise -- this place made a fantastic impression and I will be back if I am in the area again soon.

This place truly is a gem and a nice break from Suburbia chain restaurants. Go there!

Awesome from the wine and calamari appetizer down to the cheesecake. Throughout our family dinner we poured glass after glass of a red Italian import. The calamari was crisp yet light, and the cheesy bread cheesy and gooey. The minestrone soup and the salad are very understated, but they are starters to your entree. A few of us ordered the fettuccine with clams and mussels in the red sauce (also available in a white sauce). The mussels and clams were perfectly paired and the sauce was flavorful without being too bold nor sweet. Others raved about the chicken parmigiana and homemade cannolis. I didn't quite care for the tiramisu, reminds me of a thick cookie that was left in a cup of coffee overnight (yet this is was tiramisu is, I was hoping for hidden chocolate). Not a fan of cheesecake, I was offered a bite. I left the table with dessert envy. Smooth, creamy, sweet......*droool* I'm crossing my fingers that we'll be back here next year for the annual papa dinner.

I ate my second meal at Mama Louise's on 8/1/08. I have a tricky time driving in this neighborhood and never seem to know when Tower changes to Orchard or if Buckley will cross Arapahoe etc. Make sure to have good directions to enter the parking lot correctly. The first time I went to Mama Louise's I was smitten! Cozy and sized just right! I had three dinner mates and we all ordered and shared meals. Immediate service, and all entree's are served w/ soup and salad. The Minestrone.............Shells & undercooked celery floating in god's broth! Tomato's, oily, salty, just DIVINE! (Weird...I know, but honest description!) The salad a classic green salad....however these two times it's been slightly bitter.....wonder how they're washing it or storing it to make Iceburg be bitter. Now the pasta! The house sauce is of a sweeter marinara style, thicker not too wet. The homemade egg noodles are classic. They could be substitued in as German spetzle...and I love it! The meatballs are soft and filled with parsley and cheese, the sausage is hot and soft, too bad such a small serving. The Ravioli....gummy and forgettable. The eggplant parmessan.....decadent. I did have the Tiramisu....and I'll admit that anything with sugar, cream, and coffee sends me to heaven. Their version has a very custardly smooth cream/marscapone top....just lovely. I would also like to highlight the service that I've had here. The first time I dined there the most attentive young men serviced our table. Immediate bussing and drink refills. I was so astonished to see such young and pleasant teenagers. (Never happens any more!) However this second time I dined.....I felt like they were mosquito's watching me consume....so they could take away our dishes immediately. I like Mama Lousie......I love that they are close, family owned, affordable, cozy and have excellent staff. I will always recommend them! P.S. the indoor fountain is a little weird...but makes soothing background noise.

Live music on the patio on Friday and Saturday nights during the summer really adds to the experience. The entree and bread was excellent, and their homemade cheesecake was the perfect finish. My new favorite Italian place.

(4)Kristine N.

I really liked this place. I have heard about it for years and drive by it every day. My husband and I finally decided to check it out, and we're glad we did. Everything was delicious! I grew up with home cooked Italian meals and I always have a hard time finding an Italian joint I like. I finally found it!

Go there!

(4)Steve S.

I believe I got the last glass from the bottle and they stuck the bottle in the refrigerator after opening it long, long ago. yuck A+ for the service, but the food just doesn't cut it.

(4)David S.
(3)Jason J.
(4)Janis M.
(4)Joyce K.
my friend took me here for my birthday, it was the worst meal i ever had. i had cooked in restaurants and went to cooking school. we both had the homemade pasta amd meat balls and soup and salad. the soup was so full of pepper i could not eat it , the sald was plain iceburg and two tomatoes. the pasta was heavy and had no taste. the meat ball was not much better, they had a nerve to give food like this and charge a high price. eat at olive garden. this is not a good mom and pop place.
(1)Richard S.
(1)Joe J.
(3)Eric L.

Go there!
(5)Kendra R.

(5)Steve S.

(4)Dustin B.
Great little place! This is a nice little restaurant and the food is great. They have really good deals on wine as well. Also, be sure to try the sangria!
(5)Meridith G.

I will be back
(5)Kristol T.
(3)Erin F.
(3)Chris J.
(2)Cass D.
I'm inclined to agree with the other reviewers. My meal, the entree was really good. (I had the lasagna.) The garlic knots were tasty. The service is good, and the place is immaculate, which impresses me. Really the only negatives from my perspective, was that my salad, was really bad. I don't think they wash the lettuce very well, I had a couple of brown pieces and it tasted like pesticides and our minestrone was just okay, it wasn't stand out. They both felt like afterthoughts. I'm sure we will be back to try other items on the menu, but I will decline my salad next time and ask for extra garlic knots! This place could get a little pricey rather quickly.
(4)Sherri K.
BTW, the service was on point 100%

We ate a disappointing meal last night the soup was a bowl of sea shell boxed pasta with 2 beans and 1/2 inch of broth The iceberg salad was cafeteria quality The "lightly sautéed " chicken was heavily breaded, pounded, and greasy The eggplant ricotta was all too rich and little eggplant Why is the pasta on the side?

my friend took me here for my birthday, it was the worst meal i ever had. i had cooked in restaurants and went to cooking school. we both had the homemade pasta amd meat balls and soup and salad. the soup was so full of pepper i could not eat it , the sald was plain iceburg and two tomatoes. the pasta was heavy and had no taste. the meat ball was not much better, they had a nerve to give food like this and charge a high price. eat at olive garden. this is not a good mom and pop place.

Good service. Decent food & fair prices. Pros: quick, friendly & generous portions Cons: marinara sauce lacks flavor. Garlic knots have no garlic - very bland

We LOVE the food here. The Italian Sausage is amazing as is the Eggplant Rollatini!! The Mama Louise pasta is also very tasty. Very authentic flavors.
