Really awesome food, large portions, good ambience, tasty. Price is very nominal. Everythn was fresh esp the 4 types of salsa. Even cheese was really fresh. Love this place will come here again.

Not sure how this place stays open. Worst Mexican food ever...the appetizer was supposed to be melted cheese with chorizo...it looked like cottage cheese and who knows what kind of meat. Beans where spoiled and tasted awful. Fajitas, how do you mess that up. Worst cut of meat, chicken did not look like chicken... I have been here before and was so suprised at how awful it was. Let me add we had to clean the table and chairs we sat in.. we did sit outside.. but please wipe the stuff. Sorry won't be coming back. Honestly go to Las Fajitas or Los Dos...This was just bad. Good candidate for Restaurants Impossible and or closing..with this food I am sure that space will be available soon!!! I would do a zero star but was forced to do one. .

We love this place. Great Margaritas, food and service.

Great Sat Eve casual dinner - the house bean dip, salsa, and two other amazing delicious dips were served promptly with the best large basket of chips. Chewy a 10 star wait person! we just missed HH but he had a 'real' margarita made at the regular house price - a nice beer and that special margarita with the sampler plate made for a perfect Sat Eve.

First I would like to say that this was impressive. I thought at first it would just be a hole in the wall. But I was definitely wrong. For starters I would like to say that the atmosphere, and wait staff definitely goes out of their way to make your dining experience memorable. In addition, I was very impressed with all the varieties of chips and hot sauce they provided at no additional charge the overall quality of food was out of this world. The price wasn't too bad either for a family of 5. I definitely will be returning to this establishment with in the near future. I definitely would recommend this for couples, the family, and business meetings . It truly is not a bad place talk to right there in the corner of the small shopping spots in Castle Pines. Keep up the good work 5 stars all the way.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. It was a great little place. The food was amazing. The service wasn't too great which is why I'm not giving it a 5 star. The waitress had zero personality. But overall the food was good.

  • Lauren M.

This place is pretty good. The chips and salsas they bring to the table are great! The service has always been friendly. My only complaint is that the ground beef mixture is way to greasy.

    (3)
  • Corey B.

The food and service here was fantastic. They bring you four different types of salsa when you sit down. Their menu is a bit different, offering different items that one would expect. Some of the dishes sounded the same but the food was fantastic.

  • Brian M.

This is the worst Mexican place in Denver. The food and the service is absolutely awful.

    (1)
  • Steve N.

Great combination of friendly wait staff (that puts up with my bad Spanish) and superb salsa's next to a diverse menu. We like to sit out on the back patio, take in the sun and mountain views (partial), and order the margarita presidencial which comes in a bar shaker to pour yourself. Time just slides by. Great tunes too.

  • Nate C.

Great margaritas. Great chips and guacamole. Great service. I can't believe I just discovered this place. Definitely coming back here again and again.

  • John E.

The service was horrible. The food was average. The chips were stale but the salsa's were ok. We were shocked when we bit into the chips and they were almost chewy. We won't be going back but we can now scratch this one off our list. The one positive is the atmosphere which was nice.

Yea. One star. I walked into this place at 4pm and there was not a soul in sight. Including any employees. The lights were all on, the music was playing, the open sign was even lit up. The door chimed once when I initially opened it and again 2 minutes later when I chimed it again and NO ONE came out. I would have loved to have tried the food and given this place an actual review... But that would have required service. Of any kind.

The chile relleno burrito is the best!!!! 4 salsas and chips, yum!! A great little hidden resteraunt!!!

When we came in the restaurant was empty. We sat start table for 5 minutes and had 3 servers pass us before our waiter came and greet us. Once we were greeted he did I great job in checking in on us. However the dining experience was lack luster.

Wow! I really expected more from a restaurant with 4 stars on Yelp... We walked in about 5 pm on a weekday. There was only one other table there and tons of waitstaff. We were seated at a booth and received our one complimentary basket of chips and salsa (the next one is on you). The salsas were just OK, I couldn't get over the fact that they were super watery and hard to get on the chip. We waited for quite a while till our server came to ask what we would like for drinks. After receiving our drinks and ordering our appetizer it was probably at least 15 minutes before he returned to take our order. My husband ordered the tamales and I ordered a Carne Asada burrito. A few minutes later the waiter comes back to tell us they are out of tamales. Seriously?! You haven't even made it to the dinner rush and you've already run out of tamales? Mmmkay, let's try the shredded beef chimichanga. Fast forward a little while and now we're enjoying our appetizer, but strangely enough there seems to be an employee walking by our table every second. Just back and forth, back and forth. Even though there's one other table. One of the women was even talking on her cell phone as she went by : / just awkward. So, on to dinner. My burrito looks huge and delicious. Unfortunately, I had to pull chewy grisly pieces of Carne Asada out of my mouth every few bites. I ended up witha large pile of inedible pieces, gross. The green chile on top was tasty though. Husband's chimichanga was tiny! Probably about a third of the size of mine and not crispy... which is the whole reason why someone orders a chimichanga and not a burrito! As we work through dinner my glass of water gets closer and closer to bone dry. Even though there are tons of employees walking by, including one who stopped to take a plate we were finished with, none stop to refill it. In fact, it doesn't get filled until it's empty and I've finished eating. At this point we're just ready to pay and leave as fast as possible. Great, we get the bill. Now begins the wait for our waiter to come back to run the card. It took so long! When he returned with the receipts he tried to have a conversation with us like we were old friends. Umm it is way too late for you to try to work for a tip at this point! There must not be very much competition for Mexican restaurants in Castle Rock. This place has bad service and poor food. Pass!

The food was ok. The margaritas were delicious. The service was awful. We sat ourselves after being told to sit wherever we wanted ( the entire restaurant had only 1other table occupied). In this type of situation, you would expect speedy, excellent service. Could not be more wrong. The service was dreadful. Very slow. Took forever just to get our drinks. This restaurant is getting 2stars simply because the margaritas are really good. If you have hours to spend, I would recommend the drinks. Otherwise, go somewhere else if you are hungry and need food quickly.

  • Aubrey G.

Lots of food for the money. Very good. They were busy, so service was a bit slow, but still great atmosphere and friendly staff. We sat on the patio. Beautiful views and scenery. Will definitely be back again.

  • Mark E.

What a cool location. FYI, they have a cool patio with a view for the summer months.... The staff at A Taste of Mexico was great. Our drinks were never empty, the chip basket was never empty and the food came out quick. The food was tasty. They give you 4 different salsas with your chips when you first arrive. The salsas are unique and not your average tomato paste offered at some restaurants. I would recommend the queso if you want a great fat intake. The entrees were good size and filled you up. If you are shopping at the Outlets...take the time to drive up the street to this restaurant rather than eating at the outlets food court or the Chilis across the street.

  • Ty S.

Great authentic food, good drinks, good service. Don't listen to the naysayers. Some people grow up on bad Mexican food and think that is how it is supposed to taste, and are out off by authentic tasting food since it is different than what they know.

  • Holly E.

I grew up in So. Cal so I know goood mexican food and this is pretty good, not the best but the best we can find in the area! The salsas they bring you are WARM! kinda weirds me out a bit! The bean dip and chips are delicious! Food is ok. Carne asada is good meat always done the way I like it. But its the Margaritas that keep us coming back! Get the origional one, the owner mixes his own mix with fresh limes etc and it comes with an extra shake like cup with lots more drink in it so when you are running low you pour yourself some more! for $10.00 it cant be beat!

  • Suzi S.

I went today for the first time and it was quite delicious! I dug that with the chips, they brought not just one, not just two, but THREE delicious salsas and yummy refried beans for dipping! The roasted tomato salsa was my favorite. I ordered Carne Asada from the lunch menu and it was wonderful. Not the best I've had (I love Ajuua and 3 Margaritas), but solidly tasty nonetheless. I ordered a side of hot green chili and it was super good. Next time I go I want something wonderfully bean-filled and covered in that lovely and hot sauce....

Went there with a date. When I went to the restroom the waiter asked her out. I will not frequent a place that hires such scum. Food mediocre, at best.

I came really close to giving a 5-Star review to A Taste of Mexico. I had picked up a groupon a while back, but didn't know anything about this place (other than what I read on Yelp). Thank you all for giving it such positive reviews and helping me decide to buy this groupon. The good news (relative to the this groupon) was they let you use it for booze as well as food. The bad news, like so many other places, they won't let you use it on happy hour items, etc. That said, this was a great meal. My friend and I came for lunch and drinks and everything was enjoyable. I started with a Michelada (this is basically a beer "bloody mary" in most regions of Mexico) and the one served here was huge and frosty. Lunch prices are reasonable, my Carnitas were a little more expensive than my dining companions Chorizo and eggs, but still a good value. The Carnitas was uber-fresh, moist, and flavorful. If I had one minor complaint, it would be that it was just a tad salty. The refried beans here are just okay. I think they suffer from efforts to make them healthier. They really could use a "lard infusion" to up the yum factor. The rice was nothing special. We were getting pretty full on the excellent chips and salsa by the time the food arrived. The tortilla chips were freshly fried, warm, and flavorful. We were given not one, not two, but THREE salsas! The fire-roasted tomato salsa was outstanding and I seriously could have eaten a large bowl of it. The other two salsas were served warm, and were excellent. One was a chili verde, the other was tomato based (I forgot to ask what it was), but was delicious nonetheless. There also was a very light "bean dip" served with the chips. This was less flavorful than the salsas, but a unique and appreciated offering. Our waiter was excellent, and he definitely earned the generous tip we left.

Usually if I want Mexican food- I go home. So I now know if I want to go out for Mexican food here in CO I will go here. A Taste of Mexico. Love the service, Love the food and the lighting is perfect and plan to bring friends and family here when they visit. I had the Tacos al Carbon, with a jalapeno toriao and it was delicious... My husband had some enchiladas and I am sure they were good becuase he didn't come up for air.. I just know I focused on my tacos and they remind me of home. Last time I ate here I had the flautas and they were great too.

This is my first bad review of a restaurant, from the moment me and my husband walked in we felt isolated and not welcome there the reason I believe it is because we brought our seven-month-old infant. We got seated far away from the other guests and got pitiful service. Our family does not go out for dinner if we think our child will act up, my daughter has NEVER thrown a fit in a restaurant or anything less than a giggle and smile, if we even thought there was a 1% chance she would even whimper! we would not take her out.

Our weekend visit on the patio was heaven due to our server, Nester (sp) and his staff. Gracious and prompt with continuous attention made our 2nd visit memorable. Lovely presentation and yummy flavor on the carnitas and the crispy rellano & tamale- I chanced the spicy sauce and loved it. The chef needs help with an improved refried beans recipe - these tasted 'fat free' and I missed the flavor that my husband infuses at home. The remote location may be the only thing holding this great restaurant back as it is difficult to staff a restaurant with a sporadic flow of customers. Great Value, great service mid day, great food and amazing views on the patio. Genuine and sincere service, we felt very special.

First time here tripped over it after a massage next door at woodhouse spa. Food and service was great. And. The italiano margarita was potent! Yum!

We just had dinner here and what a great find! Tucked away in this shopping center Is a great Mexican restaurant. Chewy is the best, go with his recommendations. The house margaritas are excellent... We will be back many times. Cheers

THIS is great Mexican, people! If you're adventurous, try the Mexican Candy (I found it the perfect addition to the tortilla chip appetizer, as well as my meal!) Everything that the family ordered was delicious. The fajitas for the boys were sizzling, perfectly seasoned and well accompanied by plenty of guacamole, sour cream, cheese, pico, etc. My daughter's tacos were devoured as soon as she could inhale them (not usual), and my enchiladas were second ONLY to my Grandmothers'. Although the service was fairly slow and we were bothered by a VERY loud, VERY drunk group of people at the bar, we will be back as often as possible. I cannot imagine that this is a regular occurrence.

We ate here last night and we were blown away how good this place is. I can't believe this is only the second time we've dined here, the first being 3 years ago. I guess I thought it was nothing special back then and we had other favorite Mexican places that we always chose. Not anymore, we will be back for sure. Everything was tasty from the drinks to the food. the $3 happy hour house margarita was decent and a good value. The $10 Original margarita was out of this world!! Worth every penny and HUGE - couldn't even finish it. Kids and hubby loved the fajitas - both chicken and steak were tender and flavorful. I had the 007 enchiladas and they were to die for. Our server was friendly and gave us great service. Glad we live close by as we can't wait to come back the next time we crave Mexican.

GREAT food...inconsistent service. We are on the third visit because it's in Castle Pines, but on the third strike because of the lack of service. When you do have service they are very nice, but they disappear for too long.

THE best Mexican food I have ever had in Colorado, and we relocated here from LA so we know good Mex. This place is to die for. Great food, AMAZING service, and stiff drinks!

After reading the reviews I really wanted to try this place and then seeing a Living Social coupon this was an added plus. I'm torn on this review. The service was 5 stars. The hostess was very friendly. Our waitress was very cheery, friendly and spot on. Everyone was friendly up to us walking out the door with a few other waiters thanking for coming in and wishing us a good evening. Each and every person made us feel welcome and they seem genuinely happy that we were there. With the high level of service I really wanted the food to be better - but the food gets 3 stars. Why not split the difference and give them 4 stars? I felt the food outweighed the service by just a tad. We started with three different salsas and a bean dip. Then moved on to the Scallops Grande, Steak Fajitas, and my husband finished with a hot fudge sundae. All of the food was cooked well but they didn't seem to use a lot of spice or herbs with anything. The salsas were put together well but needed a little something more - perhaps some acid. The bean dip was very bland - nice consistency but not a lot of flavor. The Scallops were just under done for my taste - they still had a hint of opaque in the center. I just prefer mine well done with a little char around the edges. The fajitas - the steak was cooked well but no seasoning had been added - I asked for some wedges of lime and added that myself with some salt and pepper and it seemed to make it a little better. The onions and peppers were overcooked and swimming in oil. I think a bit of cumin, chili powder, or cayenne would have done a world of difference. The bathroom were a labyrinth to navigate - the women's restroom had a changing table in front of the stalls and it was very difficult to get in and out. So based on the reviews I'm willing to give them another chance and perhaps try something else and perhaps Fajitas just aren't their go to dish.

They served 3 salsas and refried beans at the beginning of the meal. I really liked the salsa with the caramelized peppers and the refried beans. I ordered the chicken chimichanga with refried beans and rice. The refried beans were great and the rice was okay, but the chimichanga was awful. They nuked it in a microwave so the outside was soggy, not crispy and the inside contained an inconsistent mixture of meat (from charred, too hard to chew, to nice soft white meat). The inside tortilla was also too soft and soggy. The whole chimichanga was soggy enough to make you suspect that the whole thing was reheated with sauce just slopped on top. Would not go here again.

Tried A Taste of Mexico for the first time today and really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful day, so my dad and I took the dogs and enjoyed our lunch on their patio. The server was very nice and brought the dogs out containers of water. I really enjoyed the chili rellenos and the variety of salsas. The setting is nice with lots of little shops around. Would definitely go back.

We recently bought a home in Castle Rock. We've enjoyed finding the best eateries and shopping around town. Today we stumbled upon this place, just in time for lunch. What a great menu of fresh Mexican varieties! I had the Enchiladas 007 and my wife had tamales. Everything from the salsas and fresh guacamole to the service was excellent. We will be back for sure...to try out the patio with a great view!

Do not go here if you have diet restrictions or allergies!!! I have been in the restaurant biz 9 years and I am appalled at the service I received. I am gluten free and I called ahead to find out if they could accommodate me. I was told they have plenty of gluten free options. Great! I arrive with my husband to sit for 8 min before even being greeted. I ask the server about gluten free options. She told me that they don't really have any but I could order fajitas. Well that sucks, if I had known I wouldn't have driven out here. So much for my call. We should have left right then, but I hate to appear rude. I said ok, and she came back literally 10 min later to take out order. I ordered fajitas and asked for no onions on my food and to be gluten free. I explained that the onions make my stomach hurt very bad. She took my husbands order. Came back 3 minutes later because she forgot what he ordered. When the food came out it was wrong!! Seriously!! How clear can I be. There were onions everywhere. I explained again that I couldn't eat this and I needed everything to be remade. She left the side plate of beans and nasty dry rice, with onions all over it, and took the fajitas. She came back and said they were remaking it and it would be a few minutes. Fine, I still should have left at this point, but the margarita was good. She brings the food out, it's the same meat, that is now lukewarm and that's all that changed. I thought it was supposed to be remade. On a side note fajitas made of skirt steak are supposed I be cut against the grain so that they are easier to eat. Not these. They are huge pieces that were cut with the grain. Worst service and fajitas I have had. I will Be calling the manager to inform them tomorrow. They need to know what's happening in their restaurant.

This place has a really good happy hour till 6 PM. 1/2 price appetizers except any seafood ones. Their chips are served warm too!! Gotta love that. Only bummer is they close pretty early. Drove by there one week night and it was closed and it was just turning 8 PM.

Waited 30 min to see our waiter. My fajitas we decent. Wife hated the carne asada. Ate one bite. Waiter noticed and apologized she didn't like it yet it was still on the bill. Not good service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
