We had a great time here last night! The chevre angolotti with braised goat might be the best pasta dish I have had since I was in Italy! My boyfriend and i just moved to the area from Chicago and we both agreed the meal was better than the last meal we had at Longman & Eagle or Girl and the Goat. Our cocktails were delicious and we really liked our server. They had some big private party going on and unlike most places, it didn't affect our service. We had been hiking all day and the food came out fast enough to satiate our ravenous appetites! Can't wait to go back!

Go! Town is one of the best meals and the best value in the roaring fork valley! I frequently use yelp, but have never contributed a review. I was compelled not only by the great meal we had, but by the need to offer up a differing opinion to the reviews that had been posted. We're visiting Aspen from New York and had to seek refuge from the overpriced, overly-rich steaks and burgers that are staples up-valley. One oasis in Aspen was Pyramid Bistro -- I owe them a review, their food is great! Town. was referred to us by a friend who lives in the valley and everything we had was delicious. I will grant the other reviewers' point that Town is hard to pin down. They offer coffee, baked goods, lunch and dinner. On top of that, their dishes blend influences from several cuisines and the menu meanders accordingly, leaving a sense that the restaurant's concept lacks a clear identity. Those attributes (often the undoing of a restaurant) would be problematic if not for the fact that every dish, down to the breads and homemade butter, was excellent! Butternut squash enchiladas, striped bass with white beans, ancho chile spiced halibut, and Harris Ranch steak entrees all impressed. The cranberry walnut bread was fantastic. And desert - strawberry rhubarb crumble and toffee pudding with salted caramel were so so good. All for half the cost of a meal in Aspen. Yes, Town can be hard to put your finger on, but go in with an open mind and an empty stomach and I think you'll leave satisfied and ready to schedule another visit!

Not up to expectations. Food was overcooked and tasteless. Smaller portions than even I anticipated.

mediocre food, good wait staff, high noise level. We had reservations for two, the hostess seated us and then put two toddlers in high chairs next to us. We finally requested being moved. /The manager said it wasn't their fault that the family wanted a table by the window. We have eaten at all the other restaurants owned by this group, and this management team is the worst.. Management needs to get some people who actually know service and customer satisfaction. We won't miss this place because the food was exceptionally mediocre

The food was was good, but way overpriced for what you received. I think it is kind of ridiculous to have to buy bread to go along with your meal. And anytime you have an entree and have to buy the sides......to overpriced for what you got. Pretty disappointed for a new restaurant.

You'll have a hard time finding some complaints if you're here. The drinks and food are exceptional. Drinks are around $11 a pop so if you were coming here for a night of cocktails, you might reconsider your local options. Trust me though, they are tasty and won't disappoint. Your waiter/ress may give you a heads up that the portions are small so soothing to take into consideration if you're expecting hefty. It actually made our decision more difficult since we didn't think splitting something was an option. Ambience is great. Staff is friendly. Food is pretty fantastic. You won't be disappointed if you came to spend the $$$

Carbondale is such a great little town and is perfect for a Mark Fischer spot. The hubs and I stopped in last week for dinner on the patio to celebrate our Anniversary. Because it was a week night the place wasn't too packed and the patio was perfect. The drink list sounded great and I had a hard time choosing which cocktail to order. We opted to share a salad along with our entrees of steak and pork. My steak was full of flavor and came with a great combo of crispy kale and potatoes which were delicious. Hubs really enjoyed his pork shoulder with peach bbq sauce as well. Then we had Salted Caramel Budinio for dessert of course! Service was a had on the slow side for not being very busy but the atmosphere and the food made up for the slow service. I'd be here often if I was a local to the area.

Carbondale is the secret cure for those who dislike Aspen's hype and crowds. And this restaurant is yumster! Town has amazing sandwiches. I had the ham and bur rata grilled cheese with roasted tomatoes and figs -- devoured the whole thing. But felt slightly less guilty because they give you a nice side salad and fries are extra. My table mates had the lamb reuben and Cubano, both delicious but the Cubano getting more raves.( Maybe it's because we are getting cozy with Cuba these days?) Also, they make amazing lemonade which enhanced the iced tea. Nice patio for a beautiful Colorado afternoon as well. Not so sure about some of the music selections though...but we did like the David Bowie songs.

Terrible service... Cold soup. Server didn't know the menu and when asked for bread with the soup, said they didn't have any. When we asked what the basket on next table was, she replied "oh it is not in the computer". Oysters were delish. Other items mediocre. Too bad, the restaurant has potential. Last visit was much better. A bit of server training could go a long way.

I had been to Town once before and loved it, so I decided to bring my visiting family there. I called 2 weeks ahead to make a reservation for outside for the 5 of us. They assured me if the weather was bad the day of, they would be sure to move us indoors. Upon arriving, the hostess immediately told us that we couldn't sit outside (even though majority of the tables were open) because it could rain (it was sunny and 75 degrees out). After realizing she wasn't joking, we told her we had made a reservation for outside and she quickly became heated and snapped that she was heading to get her manager while giving us "the hand." The manager returns and is not only more difficult and attitude-filled but even condescending. She told us "it could rain" and they can't move us inside if it does. Why did the hostess tell me the opposite upon making the reservation? Trust me, if it looked like rain, I'm the first to want to be indoors. It wasn't until we decided to leave altogether that the manager thought to be accommodating and begged us to stay. Despite her pathetic begging, we still left and then we overheard both the manager and hostess telling other guests "wow they must have been 'HANGRY.'" They giggled behind our backs as we walked away. I have truly never seen staff (a manager albeit!) at a quality restaurant throw away business like this. We took our money across the street to a wonderful Italian spot called Allegria that was happy to seat our 5 top. Excellent service and good food. I would encourage you to choose Allegria over Town next time you're in Carbondale. Town is not worth your time or money.

I hate dissing restaurants, especially during the holidays, but I spend more time saying good things than bad, so I feel it necessary to share an experience. I wanted to get away for Thanksgiving & picked Glenwood Springs to spend the holiday. I was pleased to find Town was serving a Thanksgiving dinner replete with real turkey, so I made reservations. My guest & I arrived early & had a beverage at the bar. Great service with a knowledgeable & entertaining bartender & a great Bourbon selection confirmed I'd chosen the right spot. We were seated for dinner at the exact minute our reservations were for - very impressive! The menu was a "fixed" 3 course meal with a couple of choices for each course. Of course being Thanksgiving, we had to do turkey. -The romaine salad was good with fresh crisp leaves -The butternut squash soup was quite good -The garlic mashed potatoes were yummy -The Turkey was horribly horribly dry -The gravy, what little there was of it, was good - there needed to be lots more gravy to cover the lousy turkey -The pumpkin cheesecake was very good Everything was good except for what we came to eat - TURKEY! So I have to rate the food as fair based on this experience...

On a recent lunch visit we found friendly and really nice service. It's a bit weird that you order at the front and then find out there is a bar in the back. We would probably have walked in and sat at the bar area to eat if we had known. The food is good, fresh and tasty. I had pork sandwich, fresh bread, maybe a touch plain but still good, wished for more pickles or for them to be more tart. Rhubarb was either non present or not coming out in taste. Would have wanted a touch more. Good food. Above average but something needed to bring it to excellent. Missus had a chef salad, great, fresh but just better than diner. Well I guess what can you really do with a chef salad anyway. The place is lovely and the people really nice. Good beer selection. Nice ambiance. I would eat here again and recommend trying it. We will be back for dinner.

Town is my favorite place in Carbondale CO. I'm most fond of their breakfast fare--the granola is fantastic, and their baked goods are excellent. Same goes for their coffee--excellent. The dinners there are good but not great; I applaud their attempts to do interesting menus, and they sometimes nail it and sometimes not. I will definitely return--probably many times--but I know to proceed carefully on their dinners; I recommend ordering simple, as these are the meals they pull off the best.

While skiing this winter one of the best restaurants we enjoyed was Town. I thoroughly enjoyed the Gnocchi and squash salad with a light truffle flavor - it was delicious. The menu is unique, offerings that make you feel like you are making healthy choices. The service was excellent. I would highly recommend visiting Town when close to Carbondale. It is worth the drive from Aspen.

Although it is a bit pretentious for Carbondale, the food and drinks never disappoint. I've been a fan of the gnocchi truffle salad since they've opened. Recently, the Brussels sprouts have been amazing as well as the grits.

I was perusing Carbondale restaurants to break up the camping food monotony...and this one seemed the most eclectic. I had the sea bass. Tasty. We also had the crudo of the day--usually a raw meat or fish accompanied with something interesting. It was sashimi-style yellowtail....wow, buttery good with a sort of lemony/salty/scallion aioli. It was fun to people-watch on the main street as Mountain Fair was going on. Prices weren't ridiculous for the type of cuisine, and atmosphere was modern and fun. Try it out!

Come for breakfast and have the best coffee and pastries in town. Sit by the fire outside and enjoy that deliciousness. Dinner will blow your mind. The food is awesome, but the service is hit or miss. I've dined here twice in the last month and both times my party and myself felt that the server was pretentious and a bit snotty (different servers both times). It's too bad, I love the small town atmosphere where everyone seems to know everybody and they're all generally really friendly.

Service here is excellent, but the other aspects need some work. I walked in here on a Monday night and it wasn't very busy. We ordered drinks and they took more than 5 minutes to make the cocktails. Also, before ordering the drinks I asked the waitress how girly the drink I was interested in was, and she responded, "not girly"...but it came in a short glass and I couldn't taste any alcohol...granted the drink was pretty good. Also, I ordered the burger on an English muffin bun, but the bun was burned and the burger was also a bit burned on the outside...I almost wanted to tell the chef to turn down the grille. My girlfriend had a chicken that was nothing special in flavor, but a cocktail that was rather strong after asking for a weaker one. However, the manager came to ask how everything was, which I appreciated. The place is pretty good in presentation, but needs work on the food and drinks.

Had a lovely meal here with my mother this evening! For "snacks" we had The crispy pig ears which were so amazingly delicious! (Except for the the passing thought of the pig ears my dog gets from Petsmart). Just put those thoughts out of your mind! These were delectable, crispy meaty strips of goodness and served with a yummy blue cheese dip. The house salad was perfectly dressed and just the right amount of greens, blue cheese, toasted pecans and pears. For dinner I had a "small" Gruyere Mac and Cheese which was perfect -- creamy and rich (but not too rich), and a ton of food. Had to box up 2/3 of it for lunch and dinner tomorrow!

Stopped in for lunch. Patio was wonderful with lots of shade and sunny seating options. Staff were friendly. A freshly made, full lunch (sandwich, homemade chips, side salad) for $10 can't be beat. Will recommend and will return.

We had a fabulous lunch at Town with our kids. I had the Cubano and the pork was out of this world. I think the portions were perfect--we both had leftovers. Our kids had noodles and grilled ham n cheese and the ate like heroes. We are food snobs and I would definitely go back and recommend it to others. Enjoy!!

We came here on a busy Friday night. Did not have reservations so we had to wait for a table. Manager was very attentive and got us seated within the advised time. Menu choices very interesting and intriguing. We all enjoyed our meals, nice quality and preparation as well as reasonable pricing will make us come back next time we come out this way.

No No No. Great ambiance, tasty beers, service was great at the bar, the OYSTERS were fresh and delicious!...HOWEVER...the Fried Cheese Curds were so greasy we couldn't finish them, the Crisp Duck Legs were very flavorful, yet also quite greasy and we could only consume 2 out of the 3, and DO NOT ORDER THE BEER STEAMED CLAMS!! The meat is not actually Chorizo, it is dry italian sausage, and the clams are old and chewy. We sent that dish back and requested that it never happened. Otherwise, cute place....

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD! Great atmosphere and great quality food! The dishes were well thought out, and perfected! They had good healthy food which is hard to find at many restaurants. The service was great and the dollar signs on yelp almost scared me away, but the prices were reasonable and well worth the quality of food.

A swing and a miss from an otherwise spectacular restauranteur, Mark Fischer. Town just doesn't have the identity that Fischer's other restaurants have. I was very confused by what they were "going for." At first, I thought maybe it was an upscale Americana type cuisine. But then, the waitress said their soup of the day was Tom Kha Gai. Super confusing. Was that because Phat Thai, across the street (and also owned by Fischer), had extra? We ordered the Sunday Supper, which was 3 courses for $28. I got a summer squash soup and a penne dish with grilled vegetables, finished with a blueberry beignet dessert. The salad was OK, but in my opinion, way overdressed. The penne was overcooked, and the selection of grilled veggies was just confusing. Why were there giant chunks of raw celery in my pasta? The whole thing was very strange. Dessert was decent, but not good enough to change my opinion of this place. And then, the waitress overcharged us by $2 a plate (for a table of 4). So I had to ask for a correction. Sigh. To me, Town is overpriced for what you get, poorly executed, and just sadly not worth the money. If you want to check out Mark Fischer's other restaurants, I do HIGHLY recommend them (especially The Pullman!) and I feel bad saying I didn't like this place... maybe I just really miss Six89!

Love this place!! My wife and I have never had a bad meal here! The eclectic flavors and great atmosphere make this one of our favorite eateries in the Roaring Fork Valley! We love the menu and are always excited to taste the daily additions that are constantly changing and always amazing. Mark Fischer and his Chef's are absolute geniuses when it comes to creating new and unique flavors. You wont be disappointed!

Major disappointment. Great service, but the food & flavors are confusing. Don't expect to leave full since the servings are on the dainty side. Even with the small amount of food served, I couldn't finish my dish since the taste of lemon & vinegar were overwhelming & left me with a belly ache. The atmosphere is loud & has the layout of a burger joint. I won't be returning.

A small morsel of Halibut arrived on a large plate, it almost looked like a very bad joke. It was the blandest fish I have ever had, not sure it was really Halibut. We mentioned our disappointment with the waiter to which he responded "sorry you're disappointed". High cost, mediocre food, fair service, the worst food value that I can remember. So many other superior options in Carbondale. I will tell everyone in town of my experience. We will never return.

Nice to have an upscale option in Carbondale - nice atmosphere, decent service, interesting menu, good beers and wine. Bottom line is that we were there for the food which was just not that good. Trout was a tad overcooked. Spaetzl with roasted carrots was tasty but was on the cold side. Husband's pork shoulder on grits was just OK.

Great time dining at Town. Wine recommendation of Borgp Gio Barbera d Alba was perfect with our Hanger steaks. The roasted Alaskan halibut was the winning entree although the Colorado stripped Bass was also good. Dessert special of fried ricatto donuts was unique. Server Thomas was good too. Nice outdoor area.

Good food, nice atmosphere, good service. Also like the black and white photographs of the modern day cowboys and cow girls. Can't go wrong.

Enjoy!!

Very disappointing lunch here. Hamburger dry as a bone. Kale salad tasted like wood shavings. The atmosphere is nice for Carbondale, I'll probably try it again and hope it was an off day.

We stumbled upon this little gem with some friends from out of town and sat outside on the sunny patio and enjoyed the most delicious lunch. The pork belly and broccoli cheese soup were perfection. The service was wonderful. We will send all of our friends here!
