Great sushi, great service, used 20% discount... Best in the valley. Spicy tuna , inside out California, marble roll, dumpling appetizer everything was awesome.

The food is always GREAT! We visit town at non-peak times, so it is not super crowded and the food comes out quickly. Love the sushi. Very consistent. Only thing we have ever had that was not 5 stars was the fish soup and it was ok but not great.

Although located in a strip mall on Highway 133, the owners have worked hard to create a lovely atmosphere in this restaurant. We sat outside under fairy lights next to a bubbling fountain, and almost forgot about the strip mall location. The restaurant tends to have it's aircon up high each time we've visited in the warmer months, and this visit was no exception, hence the decision to sit outside. Bring a sweater if you'll be dining inside. They have a great Tuesday evening special with 2-for-1 sushi rolls, but do not do a good job of explaining the deal. We were under the impression that we could order one roll and the second (different or lower priced roll) would be free. The sushi was great and the rolls were big, although when the check came, we noticed that nothing had been discounted. Our waiter's response to our inquiry was 'Oh, you guys haven't been here before?' Slightly disconcerted, we asked him to take it up with the manager as really, it doesn't take much to explain the nightly specials or deals. The owner came out and explained that with each roll we ordered, we got TWO rolls. The penny dropped! She very nicely offered us some drinks or an app the next time we stopped in to make up for the confusion. Finally it made sense and we happily paid the bill. Bottom line - sushi is decent but communication and service can be improved upon.

We made a trip from Denver to celebrate a 50th anniversary. There were 20 of us, one waitress. Half of our food was not ordered by the waitress and didn't come out. Meanwhile, food that wasn't ordered came out and was not taken off of the bill even though we asked twice! We were told that because it was eaten, they could not take it off the bill. When the un-ordered food came out, we made it clear that it was not what we ordered and the waitress left it on the table anyway. It sat there for 15 minutes before the starving children at the table couldn't help themselves. This was seriously a disappointment. The food took about 45 minutes to come out (the half of it that did come out). They brought our large party a small appetizer and small glass of sake to make up for the delay in getting our food. But then... it took the waitress almost 30 minutes to get us our checks! We will not return and will definitely advise others to do the same. Terrible customer service.

Interesting food with great flavors. The owners are knowledgable and passionate. Highly recommend the atomic shrimp as well as miso cod! Prices are very reasonable as well.

Always good, fresh and creative. Great menu and sushi. I have eaten there on several occasions and would recommend it to anyone.

If you find yourself in this small town in Colorado I implore you to try this place. The sashimi martini concept they have is excellent and you can tell a lot of effort is put into the ponzu sauce. They have a mix of hawian and japanese themed dishes, everything was tasty. At the same quality level of the food was the service. The server was extremely attentive and congenial. I would travel back to Colorado just to eat here agian.

I am a big fan of Konnyaku of course I would drove all the way to visit this place. Love the hospitality of the owner and I like the Konnyaku noodle soup I ordered. They are located in between Aspen and Glenwood Springs. It's worth checking out when you are in the area

This place is freaking amazing. So much great, unique flavor in Everything we tried. The owners take serious pride in everything they make! Can't wait to go back!

Delicious apps, sushi, sake, deserts, and one of the smoothest cups of coffee I have ever had. The service is excellent. Willy and Susan were gracious and generous hosts. I will definitely return!

Found this spot on Yelp. I've had sushi at some great restaurants, and the sushi here is top notch. Chef Josh took care of me and started off the night with some house sake and the traditional Kampai (cheers!). I had the Aspen and Carbondale rolls. Both were great...The main thing with sushi is fresh fish, and the fish here was excellent. I also had the chicken salad with mandarin orange, which was good too. Thumbs up!

A locally owned restaurant with great service and incredible food! Doesn't get any better.

Website says they're open so we headed over... Sign on the door also says open but door is locked and no one around. What's up with that? Get it together people.

Konnyaku is a great friendly place to eat you can get a variety of food from soups to sushi to meats. If your looking for a nice date night place I would definitely chose Konnyaku. Me and my dad always go to Konnyaku when we are looking for a nice shutdown place to eat.

Well as soon as we got there we literally had 5 people seat us, two of them asked our drink order before we even took our coats off and sat down. I'm a bartender at a nice restaurant in Aspen so maybe I am a harsh judge but I thought that was kind of strange. They also had all these nice booths open and they sat us at a table in the middle of the bar. We started with a couple apps, the edamame (I misread the menu and didn't realize there was a choice of two). The server just picked one, it was really good but I wanted to try the sriracha paste. It would have been nice had she mentioned there was a choice. We also had the chicken lollipops which were chicken mcnuggets placed on honey and stabbed with a long toothpick. We went on a Tuesday which we found out is 2 for 1rolls (buy one get the same roll free). We ordered two different rolls for a total of four. I reiterated with the server that we wanted 4 rolls total. They brought out the first rolls and there were 4 when there should have been two. I told them right away but they left all 4 and of course we ate them. 20 minutes later the other rolls came out (only 2 this time which is what we ordered). So after pointing it out right away, we were still charged for the rolls we did not order. On top of that, the rolls weren't even very good. They had so much rice and they completely fell apart. This was my second time here, the first experience wasn't very good either. I don't think I will be giving them my usual three chances. K'Gen up the road at Willits is a million times better!

Atomic shrimp is the best!!! Great other dishes too - a wide selection and each dish made very well. The owners are wonderful people, we brought my infant with us and they were very accommodating. One of the owners even held the baby and entertained her while we ate! Highly recommended - my favorite restaurant in Carbondale (and that's saying a lot as there are so many wonderful restaurants there)!

Willie & Susan run a high quality, upbeat environment - and the food is absolutely flawless. My friend and I got the OMG roll, yellowtail sashimi, yellowtail poke' and a few other sundries. The presentation, the taste, the experience - absolutely wonderful. Service was well-paced and friendly. To top it off, Willie delivered one of the appetizers while reciting a poem. Konnyaku has delicious food. And it's a great experience. Tues are two-for-one. Jump on it!

On Tuesday, they offer two for the price of one...example, you order a roll, the second roll is free and a very nice deal.....Having said that: Waiter was non existent as he was too busy chatting with some one (female customer) at the bar...I had to ask for tea every time and once had to interrupt his chatting with his gal pal at the bar by going to him at the bar with my empty tea pot.. He never checked back but finally asked if we wanted more to drink at the end of the meal....bus boy rocked and the lady at the front desk also took care of us for a good portion....do they fill in for the waiter while he visits other folks? We came before the dinner rush so there should be no excuse. Ordered a spider roll and I can say it was the worse one I ever ate....the crab was a sliver, about as big as my chopstick and lots of other tasty fillers.....it looked like a crab leg and certainly not a whole of half crab that you get from other places in a spider rolls. Pass on this please. The salmon nigiri was to die for...sweet, succulent and tender. Tuna and yellow tale as tender and large slabs of fish. Awesome and highly recommend...stick with the nigiri. my scallop nigiri took forever to defrost and I am ok with that but I had to ask why it was taking so long...we ate all of the other meals and were waiting and waiting until I asked him what was going on with the scallop order but it salty as heck........did they put a pinch of salt in the middle of the rice? Not recommended. They were quick to get a second round of drinks for the spouse for slow to refill my hot water. Part of the food was outstanding and other need major overhaul. Waiter has to learn not to BS/flirt with customer at the bar and ignore others and have the bus boy/lady in front take care of his folks. We looked at the regular menu and they had some nice looking dishes listed...nice selection from gluten free to the meat lover. I would have given a higher rating but with the lack of the water and spider-less roll and salty scallops, it dropped it!

Was staying in aspen but looking for a more casual sushi restaurant. Found konnyaku online in carbondale. I was very pleased. Between us we had edamame, miso soup, egg drop soup, teriyaki rice bowl, coco steamed fish, cuke rolls, avocado rolls, philly rolls, and salmon rolls. Everything was first rate. Great sercice. Great dishes. And better yet, we needed gluten free options and they were on top of it. I highly recommend them...especially if you are looking for a gluten free option

Super creative Asian fusion menu, featuring Japanese, Thai, Chinese and American currents. We ate there on Feb. 27, 2009 and the service was first-rate, the food incredibly flavorful, and the owner, Willie Sabarese, friendly and informative. They have a pretty full sushi bar, a great slection of sakes, and a nice wine list too. Right now they are featuring a super-discounted nightly special. On Friday it was a flank steak with Cinnabon-flavored yams as a side dish. It was great. As a starter, we shared Atomic Shrimp, which could have been the best shrimp starter we've ever had, along with a dish called Nega-Maki. The latter was ribeye steak, wonderfully prepared and presented. Dessert was a home-made German chocolate cake that was everything you would expect. They are currently closed Sundays, but they will be open seven days starting this summer.
