Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

This is in the top five best pizzas I've ever had in my life. That includes being in Italy and New York. Every ingredient is absolutely fresh. The crust is NY style but not too thin, not too thick, really it is just right! The wait isn't bad at all, your standard pizza wait, even when they are busy. My favorite pizza is the pepperoni, I alternate with/without fresh garlic. I also LOVE their ham(aka Canadian bacon)!!!! The calzones are stuffed with delicious cheese & your choice of ingredients. I recommend the sausage with mushroom. The flavors just melt together in your mouth!! It's family owned by this awesome Italian family, you feel like you're in their kitchen when you are there! It's fun and feisty and they love to entertain, especially children! There is an older guy, white hair, black mustache, he's probably the head honcho-who will toss the pizza dough all around and do tricks in the air with it to make children smile and laugh, it's ADORABLE!! It made me smile and laugh!! And then one time he asks us if we want to pay twice, we say No? And he says the classic "ThenGETOUTAHERE!" Line and we fell in love instantly and tell everyone the story all the time!! It was hilarious!! There is one waiter there, white male, early 20's, that needs to learn better customer service skills. Thankfully everyone else there makes up for his ignorance. We bring EVERYONE who is visiting Colorado to this location. Period, done deal, every time. YOU MUST EAT HERE AND EXPERIENCE THIS GOLD!!! They're closed on Sunday's.

Rude owner. I was going to pay a pizza with a credit card and he was upset because they have a minimum of $15 (or $20... I can't remember). So I ended buying a desert just to be able to pay with my credit card and calm the owner. I tried to be friendly but the atmosphere in the restaurant was very tense as described by others. The Pizza was OK but not a great one.

This review is more my husband's review, since he is a NY style pizza snob and I only every buy pizza here because he loves it. Apparently what he loves is the sauce, because its bursting with tomato flavor. He also really likes the crust when its fresh out of the oven. I would say that I go to this place about once per month, and I've never had a problem. I always just get a large cheese pizza for maybe 12 or 13 bucks, then take it home and VOILA! --Happy husband. I've never had them refuse my credit card or yell at me, and the pizza is always ready before I arrive (despite my occasional early arrival). I'm really sorry to all you folks who have bad experiences with the owner, but I have seen no evidence of rudeness despite being there at least 8 times this year.

Been to this place a couple times. heard the pizza was decent. Im from NJ so I can appreciate really good pizza. The pizza is average at best. This guy may be from NY, but his rating would be a half a star if he made this pie back east. Ok, and Ralph the owner, he's a total ass. Im used to brash pizza owners, but most are still polite and appreciative of your business. This guy Ralph thinks he's doing you a favor serving you a mediocre pie. I go to pick up my pie one time, and he's at the counter reading a newspaper on top of a pizza box, he says "Yes?" (again like he's doing me a favor). How about "Hi, can I help you?" So I say I'm here to pick my pie. Turns out he's reading the paper on top of my pie. Place is a bit dirty. I will say woman at front counter is very nice. I guess this is Ralph's wife.

HORRIBLE pizza joint.......... Where do I start? Hmmmm... Every time we go in there the family that runs it is fighting loudly and it's very disturbing! I've had cold food the last 2 times I've been there but I put up with it! But today confirmed that I will never eat at this cheap Italian Poser restaurant.......I always thought their house wine was either bad or very low quality and then I found out tonight after asking about what brand it was and I was told that it was a good Italian vineyard....???NOPE their house wine is freaking ROSSI.....seriously ?? I'm done ...they lie they fight and its never been all that good ! My guess is that their desert wine is probably MAD DOG! They are a JOKE don't waste your time
(1)Heather C.
Wow, now THIS is authentic New York Pizza. Complete with a surly Italian man taking orders and making the pies. As long as you argue back, you'll win him over, just like you were in the big apple. The sauce is FANTASTIC! Exactly like a N.Y. pie, and the crust is decent. I LOVE this place.!!!!!!!!
(5)TJ S.
Great pizza, fun staff, and tasty amber on tap. I got the "Best Seller", which only comes in a large size, but that's fine for me.
(5)Jolene L.
My family and I love pizza and gave this place a shot. It was phenomenal and brought us back again and again. But what we realized is that only certain people can actually make a decent pizza there. We have had burnt pizza, salty pizza, soupy pizza, and perfect pizza. The fact that we never knew what quality pie we were going to get took this place off our list of where we will spend our money. And yes, it does seem some of the workers have unpleasant attitudes. Bummer for them I guess.
(2)Jessy K.
Best pizza ever! No place else even comes close. Stick with the pizza, though (and maybe a cannoli), and just accept the "Soup Nazi" mentality of the owner - he is alright once he recognizes you as a regular and the rest of the family is SO personable it makes up for it.
(5)Aaron R.
I wish I could start writing about the great pizza, but sadly I need to start by addressing the Schmuckatellis who gave bad reviews and insulted Ralph (whom I just met today). I grew up in New York among Italians (1st gen) and frequently travel to Europe, and he is by no means rude. I got yelled at On a regular basis from my Italian mamas while being stuffed with the best Italian food you can imagine, it's just how they work. That is being direct and honest; something these passive aggressive assessment could learn from. He was friendly, in a way you would expect from a hard working, old school man. Maybe it's because the place is close to Boulder but if you want someone to wipe your nose and give you a hug, then go to Boulder, they have good food there too. The people who are Insulting this family are the same reason so many Americans are seen as asshole tourists. Now that I got that out let's talk food. To you readers out there, ignore those who judge NY Pizza based on never living on the East Coast or comparing to Anthony (a step above Papa Murphy). Thin crust does not make it a NY pie. I grew up in NY, lived in Boston and Chicago and I'm chubby...... I know my pizza. That is why a friend from Brooklyn made me come here and try this. Ralph makes a solid pizza! One that I can overcome my craving to go home and get one. Trust me, even NY has crappy pizza joints, and this place makes a good pie! If you want to compare to other great NY Pizza in Colorado than try Big Bills in Englewood and Jersey Boys up in Dillon. This are the best 3 I have found so far and the only ones deserving of being called NY Pizza. As for those crying about the attitude, go to Papa John's, maybe there you can get a hug and enjoy some crap pizza.
(5)Shawn B.
The people that operate this restaurant were great and the service was attentive and prompt. The catch was that I didn't much care for the food, which was a bummer because I alway prefer to support a family business. The pizza was rather lack luster in both flavor and texture. I would not say that this was a bad pizza but just didn't rate high in my list, I'll probably try it again and update my review

Before we being...being from NYC, I know what good NY Style Pizza is supposed to taste like. 2 Slices + a Soda for $4.99...OK deal. * Be aware that these are not the same size of a true NY slice, these are on the small size. I wonder if they make them smaller for lunch? I got my slices with just cheese. I grabbed the garlic powder and put some on and took a bite. The first thing that entered my mind was this pizza is salty. I immediately questioned whether they use garlic powder or garlic salt so I sprinkled some in my hand and tasted it...it was garlic powder. I did not put anything on the second slice and took a bite...yeah, the pizza is way TOO SALTY, good thing the included soda is big. The crust was good, perhaps a little overdone because they obviously reheat the pizza as you order. I did not care for the owners wife and how rude she was when she informed me they did not accept credit cards even though the machine was on the counter. They should put a sign on the front door letting people know it's CASH ONLY. If it wasn't for the fact that my boss was with me, I would have happily returned the attitude right back at her. Overall the pizza is OK, I just wish they would lay off the SALT.
(2)Tim F.
Been here a few times before and the pizza was good but the atmosphere and service left a lot to be desired. Visited Saturday around 5:30 pm and the restaurant was not crowded at all. Owner scowled at us as we asked to be seated in the rear "dining room" instead of the tables in front near the counter. Service was rushed to the point of rudeness. We were asked about dessert just minutes after our pizza arrived, and a young waiter asked to box up the leftovers when we had three slices remaining on the serving tray. Worst of all the pizza was greasy and the green peppers were stale and tasteless. We won't go back; we don't intend to spend good money on mediocre pizza in an unfriendly setting. Fogettaboutit!
(1)Christopher H.
Being that I have lived here in Broomfield for The last 8 years and 100% new yorker i know pizza , this place rocks, and the best NYC style food out side NYC. If you from NYC will fit in perfect if your not forget about it you won't understand. They are the real deal.
(5)Michelle P.
I went here tonight with some friends and didn't experience the bad service everyone was talking about. I have to say though, after reading some of the humorous reviews on their "bad service incidences" I was sort of hoping to witness something altogether uncommon in Denver. The three of us each had something different and each of us have somewhat contrasting views. I had cannelloni, one friend had a calzone and another ravioli. I liked the cannelloni. It came with a salad which was dressed with a store bought type Italian dressing. One friend liked the ravioli; the other did not like the calzone because the Italian sausage tasted in their words like "gyro meat". I thought the sauce was good. They served garlic bread and sauce prior to the meal. Back to service, the friend who didn't like his calzone was asked if he wanted his check comped and he told them "no". When they delivered the check they comped him anyway, apologized and offered him a dessert on the house. He declined. I worked in an Italian restaurant years ago, in a small town, in the deep south, which was not really authentic Italian food although it was good Italian-American food for a great price. This place mirrors the place I used to work.
(3)Brad P.
We talk about this place to everyone we know. They rock! We brought our family here when they were visiting from Maui - they said it was the best value they have ever seen. The place has character and the owner is behind the counter. He works hard, so we can eat incredible Italian. Five Stars!
(5)Robert B.
Not N.Y. but as close as your going to get . Beats all the other so called pizza joints . And what's with the attitude b.s. they are always friendly maybe because I'm from N.Y. and know what rude is .
(5)Jan K.
We've eaten here multiple times since moving to Broomfield. Everyone in the house LOVES the pizza. Yum yum yum! My husband and daughter really enjoy the lasagna, too. I was not a huge fan, only because it wasn't really seasoned. Worth it for the pizza alone! The dessert cannolis are awesome, too. They do not deliver, which is a bummer, but we live pretty close so it's not a huge deal. We've had great service both times we've eaten there, and friendly check-out every time we order to-go.
(4)Steven Z.
The BEST lasagna in Colorado!!!
(4)Barb T.
RUDE. RUDE. RUDE. RUDE. RUDE. We've been in twice. The first time, they didn't have any slices because it was a weekend, and they were rude about it. But oh, the owner's wife offered to sell us a whole pizza instead (way more money). Kinda misses the point of wanting SLICES, now doesn't it? Second time, we got some tiny slices. Rude-ass owners. Just freaking RUDE. I've been to New York City twice, and nobody was this rude. Those Yelpers who LIKE being treated rudely and find it entertaining are F-ING NUTS and just reinforce this treatment. What a lame way to live life--LOOKING for people to treat you like crap. In fact, searching out abuse is as pathetic as abusing your customers. You can tell that they don't want your business or your money and they don't appreciate their customers AT ALL. We're never going back. You treat me with disrespect, I'M DONE WITH YOU. We should all boycott this place and put them out of business, without a doubt.
(1)Robbie S.
Great lunch special! $5 for two slices and a drink! Pretty sure you can't beat that. I'm adding it into the lunch rotation for sure!
(4)David B.
The owner certainly didn't attend charm school. If you can get past his guffness, the food has always been very good and consistent. The eggplant is very saucy, cheesy and tangy. My wife always gets the manicotti and is never disappointed. Pizza is probably not going to win awards in NY, but here in Broomfield, it's pretty darn good. The atmosphere is varied depending on where you sit. The dining room in the back can be quiet, quaint and cozy. The front area has a Donkey Kong old style video game, and is usually loud and hectic. A fair chance you'll see and hear the owners grandkids running around. In sum, it's very family run, family feeling, usually good food, a little rough around the edges at times, and would have gotten 4 stars from me if the owner would embrace the power of please and thank you.
(3)Chris K.
If you know pizza you know this is good. Sure the guy who runs it might be a bit cranky sometimes but he has grown to be much nicer as I go there more often. I will take good pizza with a bit if attitude over bad pizza (everywhere else in the area) served by mother Theresa. Go ahead punish yourself, take a stand, don't visit because he was rude, but you are the one with no better pizza options in the area.
(5)pinche d.
There's a different between NY charm and NY attitude. Sadly, this place serves up a slice of attitude over charm. The atmosphere here is pretty bare bones outside of being NY proud. I think the mark of a good place is if you'd drive out of your way to go here .... and I wouldn't. Service: We walked in and the staff seemed too focused on deliveries much more then their in-store customers. We had to repeat our order several times because the person taking our order was doing it from the pizza making counter and not the register counter. For being a family restaurant, I wouldn't say they are family friendly nor would I say they are budget friendly since a 14 inch pizza with three sodas was just under $30. Were they straight up rude ... nope but again, I expect to be recognized a lil if I'm on the paying end of the business relationship. Food: I wouldn't say anyone in our party was blown away but it wasn't awful. Was it NY style. Yep. Did it make my Top 20 Colorado pizza list. Nope. I'd go back here to try their lasagna or calzone but I wouldn't order another pizza here. I'd also call in my order next time to save myself the stress of dealing with the family counter service. PS. Plenty of parking for Broncos and Yankees fans which I thought was pretty funny :
(2)Nicolo D.
I've been looking for a new pizza place in Broomfield. I went in, and tried this place for take-out. Unfortunately, I'm not very impressed at all. Although the pizza was OK, the garlic knots were pretty thoroughly burned. All this for $18.00. So, half the meal was bad, the other half was just OK, which averages out to 2 stars, so, I won't be coming back here, and my hunt continues.
(2)Ginni T.
I'd give Original Pizza about 3 and one-half stars. Great stuffed shells, pizza is good, ravioli and garlic bread are good. Service is hit-or-miss. Either they are very nice and attentive, or they ignore you and treat you like you are bothering them. That being said-not the cleanest place I have ever eaten. I was there with a friend about 10 days ago and the place could use a good scrubbing and paint job.
(3)Michael H.
average pizza, but lousy/rude service every time the few times we've stopped by. We're from New York/New Jersey (40 years). They don't have the "New York attitude" that people refer to sometimes. They're just rude.
(1)Peter M.
Meh. Not impressed. The staff is a bit short with the customers, and the pizza was just ok - not great. Still, it's a decent place for a bite if your in the mood for some NY style pizza.
(3)Kellie A.
Pizza is delicious. Service is horrific. I would rather eat crappy pizza than give this establishment my hard earned money.
(2)Andrew S.
The owner was extremely rude, he told me that he can't make pizza by the slice which is ridiculous that's the whole point of a pizza joint, and then he continued to harass me as I sat down to eat. Go to Abo's down the street.
(1)Tara J.
The pizza was great and the staff nice. We came early and got served right away. A two thumbs up hit with the family!!!
(5)Lucy O.
Best pizza ever ! The salad is cold and fresh, the pizza is hot and crisp! Must try if your in Broomfield.
(5)Desiree R.
Best pizza ever in my entire life. Anyone that says otherwise is literally insane or they Just don't know pizza. Best ingredients, so flavorful, and I seriously have never found better across the country.
(5)R S.
Pizza is okay, not as good as NY style.. The owner is a total dick. I would often go at lunch and pick up a few slices to go. They get mad if you ask for a box or bag for your pizza. I guess they expect you to just hold it on a paper plate while you drive? Idiots. Went there for the last time on Tuesday. Owner was a complete rude asshole. Never again will I give them my hard earned money to be treated so poorly. I suggest you do the same.
(1)Rob O.
Gotta love the Proverbial "hole in wall" places. You can certainly tell this is a single family owned place, but I visit a restaurant for the food, not the owners. After reading some previous reviews, I really don't care if the owners are friendly or not, the food was great!! New loved it & will most certainly be back for more!
(4)Jen K.
This restaurant is amazing! Not only is it the closest thing to NY pizza we have had since we left NY, but they are a true family restaurant! Caring and friendly every time we visit. My husband was in the hospital and they delivered his pizza to his bed side. Even though they don't deliver, and wouldn't accept any payment or tip. So nice! And the pizza was fantastic! Thanks Original Pizza! If you love a good slice, eat at Original Pizza!
(5)Christina I.
If you're looking for the best pizza in town come here! Who cares that the owners are not very charming;) I've been coming here for 15+ years and it's still the best pizza (and pasta) ever.
(5)M E.
Great pizza. Just like in NYC. Nice people who care about their business. Love this spot.
(5)Joe M.
The pizza is great. I'm not the end-all authority but I know NY pizza pretty well and this is as good as it gets in Broomfield. The rest of the menu is very bland. Watery gravy, soft pasta, tasteless sausage and meatballs. But the worst part is that the owner is a total dick. Not "New York charming," just "New York asshole." I've overlooked it before as I haven't had to actually talk to him too much but it's no longer worth it. He's rude to customers, always yelling at his employees, and will look at you like you've got three heads if you ask the simplest question. Comparisons to the Soup Nazi character on Seinfeld are fair. It's very ironic that on their pizza box they have a thank you for supporting small business and how "our customers are our shareholders." I'd love to support this as a New York institution far from the East Coast but unfortunately I'll be supporting other area local businesses from now on. Try Anthony's pizza for a better tasting and nicer alternative.
(2)Terry G.
A coworker told me about this place, usually when I am seeking pizza I will go to Anthony's or Abo's. This place puts out some good New York style pie. I met my son here for dinner and he is an Anthony's loyalist so I was anxious to hear his appraisal of this place. The place was pretty busy with sit down customers and people waiting for their carryout. The place is quaint and comfortable and the service was good. The prices are decent we had 2 ice teas and a large 18" pizza ( 1/2 mushrooms/onions, 1/2 pepperoni ) all for $ 25.00. The pizza was real good, foldable, plenty of toppings and cheese that leaves a trail coming out of your mouth. My son said it's a little better than Anthony's and a cut above Abo's. This will be a place I will go for dine in pizza. I saw the old guy everyone talks about but he stayed in the kitchen and behaved himself.
(4)Zichelle B.
I love this place. Best pizza I've had in this area hands down. The staff is definitely a culture shock to some. But definitely not me. I really like Ralphie and his family. Nice people. The pizza is very good, and I've also had the spaghetti (which I LOVE). The only criticism I have is that they need to have more consistency. Sometimes the pizza is fantastic and sometimes its okay. Consistency is difficult when the food is homemade. So you win some, you lose some. I would definitely recommend this place.
(4)Jim W.
If you're from back east or you just want to soak up some of that good old east coast vibe - go here for dinner. I've dined in and gotten take-out here. I had great east coast conversations with the owners such as: *Hands sandwich across counter* "Can I get that wrapped to go?" "When were you going to tell me?" "You must not have heard me when I ordered it to go." "You want it wrapped?" "Yup." Or: "Is your Tiramisu made with custard or Mascarpone cheese?" "It's made the real way." "With cheese?" "Uh, Yeah." Four stars for consistent quality and service and that NYC attitude. I'd pay a couple extra bucks for a side of that, but they always toss some on, no charge.
(4)Austin B.
The pizza is just OK - not bad but nothing to write home about, however, I've routinely gotten friendlier service at the DMV. Having lived years in Queens, I'm well familiar with NYC style sass, this isn't that. They genuinely seem inconvenienced by your presence in their restaurant. I won't be going back.
(2)Joe B.
Overrated. I just picked up this pizza and am eating it now. Bottom line is its greasy, but not in a good way. The place seemed a bit on the dirty side, but I think they're going for that "NY Pizzeria" feel. Anayway, I've heard this place is the best, and I dont know where that comes from. The place is fair at best. The people seemed pleasant, and I really liked the Continental Airlines Newark Poster.
(2)James W.
I read many reviews and yes, the family that runs the place lacks, or refuses to use, customer service skills. The owner Ralph is a nice guy, but I and others have nicknamed him "the Pizza Nazi",(~Sienfelds soup nazi) because of his rudeness. But, aside from the lack of pleasantries, I like the food. I have not tried the entire menu, and just usually get pizza. My favorite is their white pizza. The dough/crust is like is should be. I am from back east and there are not may pizza joints in Colorado that make pizza dough/crust like it is supposed to be, crunchy and chewy, even the next day when it is cold! If you want good pizza like from back east, give it a try. I heard Ralph is from Italy, and had a joint in New York City before moving to Broomfield. The place is clean enough, much better than most pizza joints back east! I go there for the pizza. Hey, you you feel any rudeness, it makes you feel like your back east!
(4)K J.
AMAZING pizza and pasta! Everything is made from scratch same day. Family owned. Service has improved significantly over the years. Best place pizza in all of the Denver metro area- promise!
(5)Jennifer B.
Seriously?? When did someone bceing rude to you become a fun experience? That's what I am seeing in the reviews here. My husband and I went here with a coupon from the entertainment book. It's a great way to try a new place. Whwn we walked in the waitress immediately informed us that they would honor the coupon but that they automatically tack on 20 percent of the total bill without the coupon because the owner likes to " take care of his girls". No problem that is what we always tip for a good waitress. WELL we both ordered the lasagna. The order came out two pieces of lasagna covered with sauce that looked like spaghettio sauce. It tasted better than it looked. We were starving so we ate every bite!! BUT the atmosphere was horrible! We walked in at 745 and was told that we could not sit in the back because they had "got done" early so we were "allowed" to sit in the front where the pizza ovens are and also where it is a thousand degrees. The girl that seated us immediately PLOPPED herself down and was sitting behind me sideways in the booth with her legs propped up. Than she moved over to a table and put her feet up on a chair and on the table a baby was crawling around. In a restaurant?? Seriously?? I have never even seen someone let there baby crawl around on a table in a house!! So we ate our bread and asked if we could have more. Our waitress ( the one who already knows no matter what she does at this point is getting a 6 dollar tip) leaves to get our bread is MIA. We look over and she is standing at the counter telling another patron about her POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION!!! What a nightmare this place is. Our total after a 10.00 dollar discount was still 24.00 dollars!! If I would have paid 30.00 for that mess I would have flipped out for sure! NEVER NEVER NEVER EAT HERE!!! Unless you enjoy paying to see young girls be lazy and complain!! What is wrong with the owners of this place!! All of these reviews are about how horrible the service is not about the food!! MAKE SOME CHANGES!!!!
(1)Joel T.
The food here is very good, I am a big fan of the calzone for lunch. The service is short and rude; make sure to bring cash as they do not let you use card for small orders.
(4)Kat B.
I just moved from Brooklyn about 2 weeks ago, and this is the first pizza I've had in about 2 months (Bed-Stuy has the worst pizza and Chinese in all of Brooklyn, sadly). Hate to break it to you, but it's not quite as good as a $2 slice from the heart of Brooklyn. I think pizza and bagels have that in common - you need that special NY water! There were two waitresses, but I don't think the girl we had was in the family, or even out of high school. She saw us standing where it says to wait, and she just kept walking past, trying not to look at us. I began to be a little pissed off, and I can tell you that isn't a "New York attitude", that's a "I don't give a shit about my job attitude". When we actually sat down, she came over, acted surprised, and went to get us menus. I like plain cheese pizza, so we ordered a pie - not quite as quick as NY either, but it was pretty busy. I'm giving them an extra star because I'm in a good mood, I was hungry, and it wasn't Pizza Hut. They told me they are nominated for Best Pizza in Colorado, but I hope there are a few other places that are as good in my general area...

I've gone here a few time since moving to Broomfield in '90. Back then, the owner and the staff seemed more friendly and upbeat. The last few times I've gone in, they have been a bit on the rude side, to be honest. However, I've tried several items over the years, and I absolutely love their calzones. I've never had a better calzone, and they're big. The egglplant parmesan sub is tasty, too. The pizza is decent, nothing to write home about. The last time we ate here, I tried the spaghetti and meatballs for the first time and in my opinion, it was AWFUL. The sauce is good for dipping, but not on a pile of noodles. My best advice: go here for take out, don't dine-in. If you are craving a calzone, give these a try (unless you hate ricotta, it's loaded with the stuff...mmmmm....)

I really liked this pizza, so I kept coming back... well, I kept ordering delivery. One Friday night they told us they only had two people working... I thought that was odd being a pizza joint. That night, it took us right at two hours from the time of order to get our two pies. We were really bummed, because we had specifically ordered the pies so they would be there right after we got home from running errands all day, and by the time the pies got to us, we could have prepared something at home. :( Also, I love pizza but can't have cheese. I ask to substitute spinach for the cheese, because it's not just that I'm being picky, I can't digest cheese and have terrible reactions to it. I usually am not charged for a dietary restriction, but here I don't get the cheese on the pie, and I get charged extra for the topping... and it's not even covering the whole pie. :(

This place is awesome, the Pizza is good and the inside is like most pizza places in the north east. Its a must try if you leave in North Denver or are a NY Giants fan!

Hello again all of my fellow restauranteers...here comes another review from Westy-Tim! Today was lunch with the wife day. We decided on Italian and drove to Original New York Pizza. Ok, the owner, who is the one that makes the pizzas is crusty, just like the pizza crust. His wife, who runs the counter is just as crusty. Folks, these transplants from New York brought to our lackluster mountain-area town some seriously good pizza. My wife ordered the two-slice and a drink special...like $4.99 or some trash like that. She ordered a slice for baby Ethan and the crusty lady turned around and said she had one slice that was still warm but wouldn't burn the baby's mouth. Score one for the crusty lady! She then proceeded to cut the piece of pizza into bite size morsels...score two for the crusty lady! You all know my low-carb diet...I ordered a side of meat-balls and a side of sausage covered in marina and mozz! We both ordered a side salad also. We bought a friend the two-slice special also. Drinks added and the total of about 25 beans. Not too bad. My dish came out double plated as the first plate had roasted in the oven to melt the cheese. The meatballs were tender and flavorful. The sausage was amazing. The pizza eaters were similarly impressed. Don't miss out on this New York treasure just because of some crusty old transplants! This place gets 4 out of 5 slices of pie!

Don't remember where I read the review of this place (I think it was on a pizza blog site) but they made it sound like a must try kind of place. We did and it was a good to great pizzeria. This is a traditional New York style pizza with more of a crispy than chewy crust. Family type restaurant with very reasonable prices. Sauce isn't overpowering, I'm not sure of the type of mozzarella (the people I was with insisted on toppings) but I think it was regular hard shredded (not fresh sliced). The four stars might be a little high but , it's pizza. What can I say. I eat Famous, Abo's, Carl's, Edgewater, Parisi's,, etc, etc, etc, and on and on. Love the stuff.

Get the pizza. Anything else you order is going to be your run of the mill Italian food, even though it is still very enjoyable. But the pizza is where it is at. Some people say its no "New York Style" Pizza. Yeah it is. This is coming from a guy who lived in Whitestone, Queens for 10 years (Although I do think Cosmos' Pizza in Boulder makes a better New York SLICE). But if you want a pie, goto the Original. And for the record, who gives a crap if the customer service is lousy?!?! If you knew what you were doing, you wouldn't have that problem. I have been a regular for a few years now and they could not be more accommodating if they tried. Know what you want, order your food, and enjoy the legitimate New York attitude. And if you want to ask questions about the menu, then you are in the wrong joint. C'mon people. It's Italian food and New York style Pizza. It's not that hard!
(5)Robert A.
I moved in nearby 5 years ago and regularly order pizzas to go. Quality ranges from good to excellent which is why I only give it 3 stars instead of 4. The vibe is familiar to me since I lived in New York for a few years, but it can be intimidating to those not used to direct, no nonsense style of communication. When the owner asks you to pay twice for the food, he is joking...I think.
(3)Jeff S.
Go here for fast, cheap food at lunch time... not for a fine dining experience. I had the special - two slices of peperoni pizza and a fountain drink for around $5. Not the best pizza I've ever had but it was certainly passable and eatable. It did have it's own sort of 'atmosphere' - some of the other reviewers have pointed that out. A little bit of attitude with just average food. I guess what I did like was that it's a mom and pop shop run by the proprietors. The place itself had lots of nic-knacks to add local color. And in the end I'm all for unique one-off type places over big-box, chain restaurants any day.
(3)Nicole M.
Okay, I have read all the other reviews and YES, the owner has an attitude, but it IS named NY Original Pizza isn't it? I am from Queens and I go in there sometimes just to get the attitude that I miss since I have been out here. He is definitely the Pizza Nazi...but it's not that hard.. order what you want, pay and leave. That's all there is to it. He is great to his regulars and gives back to the community from what I have heard. I ordered some trays of food for a bridal shower and everyone LOVED the food. The owner carried it all out to my car and the very next day called me personally to make sure everything was okay and to see how everyone liked it. Don't let the attitude fool you, I believe he is a big, softy inside... have you ever seen him with his granddaughter? My daughter loves to go in there and just listen to them talk with their Italian accents. It reminds her of 'home'. Pretty darn close to NY pizza. I think it is impossible to get pizza like NY.. just like bagels and Italian cookies! Easy parking, dine in or take out. They use Polly-O (NY) cheese products that I cannot find on my own. I go there when I am on that side of town.
(4)Frank C.
I came here because of the reputation of the "RUDE" Italian guy. I didn't experience his "Rudeness" but I did enjoy the cold beer and homemade New York style pizza.
(3)Aa A.
WOW, can you rate negative stars for this place? I should have read the reviews before going there. I was craving for a slice of pizza so I stop by the place. I go in and the place looks like shi!. I see on the menu, SLICE OF PIZZA. This sad...sad... beaten up depressed man comes up and ask, can I help you? I said, a slice of pizza please? He replies, "we don't serve slices, only large whole pizzas." Then I just walked out. This place is a piece of shi! with the customer service to go with it. Try pizza hut, they'll give you service at least.
(1)Ramon G.
My 3 star is really a 2.5 star rating... This place kinda gets on my nerves. The staff is never friendly. They don't take cards unless you buy 15 dollars worth of food. I HATE when places do that. The pizza is OK, pasta is good depending on what you get. They do have decent lunch specials from time to time. I agree with most of the previous reviews that the atmosphere sucks. They would get way more business if they smiled a little more and left the face NY attitude back where they found it.
(3)Astra M.
This is excellent pizza, when I am home sick for good food I go this place. The family that owns the restaurant makes me feel like I am at home, New Yorkers are good people.
(5)Travis W.
Ok. They got great pizza... But!!! And this one is big.... Customer service. They mumble when speaking. They were short with me on the phone when I asked them to repeat. RUDE!
(4)Oliver T.
Good Crust, good sauce, but a little runny, and definitely not enough cheese (Order extra). I am a pepperoni guy and here they have a lot to learn, what a grease-fest (Please buy some better pepperoni ! ) - also tried the sausage - eh, not that great either, ended up picking a lot of it off. Will go again though when I don't feel like driving to Proto's Pizzeria in Lafayette - maybe I'll just get an extra cheese pizza or try one of thier specialties none pizza items. Or maybe a calzone if they have them. - I will write another review after I try something else.
(3)Hiker Chicka e.
Crappy atmosphere, terrible customer service, and ordinary food ensures that I will never visit this place again. Ever. I have family in New York, and I've had good Italian food. This is not it. If you want to be a "Pizza Nazi" your food better be really great. At least good enough for people to tolerate your hostile attitude. The owner was rude us, nasty to his wife (the waitress) and raising his voice at his two pizza boys who were scurrying around like mice. The atmosphere was so tense it could have been cut with a knife. Everyone has bad days, but those are the very days that you should take off instead of spewing at everyone that crosses your path. One of the pizza boys tried to calm things down, but the damage was already done. We took our food and left. I certainly don't want to give any business to employers who abuse their minimum wage employees. Geez... You can cut off some of the toxicity but ordering delivery. But why? I'm all for supporting local Mom & Pop stores, but this one, I recommend you don't touch with a 10 foot pole. Stay far, far away.
(1)Todd G.
This place is so rude! I can't believe how rude and nasty these people are. Although my food was very good both times I have been there, I just can't go back. I can't deal with the attitude from these people. And, also they require a minimum credit card charge of $15.00 which is against both Visa and MasterCard's Merchant agreement policy. If I was just basing my review on the food it would be good, but the attitude should get less then 1 star!
(1)Art M.
After hearing some mixed reviews about this place, I checked it myself for a late lunch and waited and waited. Then after seeing the staff just standing around talking by the kitchen, knowing I was there was a bad sign. Then someone came to ask me " wa-da-uu want?" Don't be fooled by folks who say good NY Style Pizza is accompanied by attitude, hey I wouldn't complain about attitude if they it backed up by a good pie. As for the "New York Attitude" they have posted on a very large banner, well I don't remember any "NY Attitude" from Pizza joints in NY ...just good Pizza! (unless it was from punk teenage kids who hated their job!) Don't be fooled This isn't Authentic NY Pizza, The crust is way too puffy, chewy and thick to be NY style pizza. This pizza tastes like domino's pizza chain. The cheese & meats are low quality. Basically The Pizza Sucks! Save your money and go elsewhere...plus you don't have to put up with a crappy attitude!! I know good folks from Carl's, Gaetono's (Used to be ran by the Mob!) and Patsy's in Denver, their families are from Brooklyn and have established great Pizzerias and Italian Food - they have great attitudes and make you feel at home. This so called pizza with attitude is Bull & NOT NY! It's about family and friends enjoying good food! Real Italian Hospitality. It only took me once. and I haven't been back..
(1)Kris K.
Mediocre, overpriced food with very rude staff. Since it's very near my place, new friends always want to go there. It ALWAYS sucks. Plus, do NOT try to use a credit card, beacuse they wil b!tch and moan about it, not give you your food, and tell you to go to the bank for cash.
(1)David F.
Also known as Original Pizza Italian Restaurant, this is not a high end purveyor of Italian cuisine. The menu is not packed with cutting edge dishes. You will not be amazed by the wine cellar and it's rare Chianti. There are no white table cloths or the more chic butcher paper. It is also not another obnoxious mega corp chain. This establishment is a long-time favorite for Broomfield residents. It's locally-owned and family-run. The food is very tasty, reasonably priced and served by a people who care (even though their NYC roots occasionally show through a little sometimes ;-) ). The pizza is thin crust and they don't skimp on the toppings. The garlic bread twists are addictive. They also have cold Moretti and Peroni. Go there. Order in Italian if you know how. Eat. Get tiramisu to go. Be happy. Tell your friends.
(4)Sunshine J.
Okay so... don't go to this place. This guy is the rudest guy I've ever encountered. He is exactly like the soup nazi. He is just scary and I would never go back there simply because of him. The inside of the restaurant (if you are brave enough to eat in) is dark and dirty. And beside that the guy is an a$$hole. I would not give this guy my money because his good isn't even that good. Instead I'd rather head south on Wadsworth and go to New York Pizza Dept. THERE they are nice and the pizza is supreme.
(1)Doug B.
So so pizza, lousy wait staff, rude and impatient. But hey, that's what NJ/NY is like, right? So I guess it's authentic. For me, that ruins the meal.
(1)Michellea D.
I love this place. Everytime I go back to Broomfield, I make sure I eat at the Original Pizza place. It is a hole in the wall. Not much to look at. I don't go for the atmosphere or the wine. I go for the great pasta dishes. The calazones are good too. I LOVE the eggplant parmigiana. It is cheesy and lots of sauce. The best eggplant parmigiana I have ever had. The pizza is good too, but the pasta is the best. If you just go for the food, you will love it.

Went there with my sister on a Saturaday afternoon. The place was overrun with children. We used a coupon from the Entertainment book and were immediately told that there would be 15% gratuity added to the bill. I was ok with that because we usually tip that, but when we got the bill she tacked on a 20% tip and the service was not the greatest. I have used coupons for many restaurants in the area and this was the first one that demanded an up front tip. If I could just rate the atmosphere I would give this place "zero" stars, its a dump. This guy is squeezing every dime he can out of this joint. There were no napkins on the table and were given one each of the cheapest ones money could buy and this is Italian food. The food was mediocre at best, but overpriced for what wou get. I knew we were in trouble when she brought the salad; just iceberg lettuce with a glop of dressing, no tomatoes, no cucmbers, no nothing, just iceberg lettuce. THIS IS THE FIRST REVIEW I HAVE EVER WRITTEN ABOUT ANY RESTAURANT BECAUSE THIS PLACE LEFT ME TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. Needless to say, I will never go back, not even for a pizza. There are too many other places that at least make an effort to please there customers.

After working in Broomfield for a number of years and then switching to a job in Boulder, this is one of the lunch spots I miss. As the other reviews have stated, there's not a single thing fancy about this place, unless you include the ceramic statue of a chef with a handwritten sign on it that says "if you toucha me i will breaka your face". Classic. In my circle of friends we lovingly refer to the very alpha, New York native male owner of this joint as the "Pizza Nazi" and have many great stories about various ordering experiences encountered there. Some of my favorite moments at my last job involved taking "Pizza Nazi" virgins there and having them order something which irritated the guy. Seriously-- if you go there, immediately decide what you want, don't ask for anything fancy, and pay in cash. Anything else will get you, at a minimum, a stare down from the big guy if not an insult. One of my favorite stories from there involves him refusing to sell a salad to someone because he asked too many questions about it. I'm pretty sure if you went in there with a hidden camera and tried to order something ridiculous, it would be an instant internet viral video classic. As for the food, it's decent.. not earth shattering, but decent. I like the pizza, as well as the sausage sandwich. Actually, I'd say probably the best thing you must try there is the said sandwich-- a cheesy gut bomb with a generous amount of delicious sausage. I don't want to even know how many calories it is, but it's pretty tasty. Really the biggest reason to go there is for the experience. The decor and owners are one of my favorite things about "old" Broomfield, not to mention one of the regulars there who always seems to be hanging-out (I think he's a relative) is a 9News helicopter pilot. What more could you ask for?
(4)Anders L.
One of the only places that I've ever had an experience that was anything like a New York Italian experience. Great pizza with a terrific sauce -- oh how I love their sauce. They use high quality cheese, too. You get to witness the cooks spinning dough, and everything tastes awesome. Best NY style pizza in Broomfield. If you have visitors from the east and you want to give them a taste of home, this is the place to go. Locally owned, family operated. Great place. Not open on Sundays, by the way.
(5)SHN H.
I discovered Original Pizza many years ago when I was working in Broomfield, and even after I left that company I would make the drive from Boulder to eat here. So when I moved back to Boulder after 5 years in San Francisco, this was on my short list of places to visit. Last night we ordered our mainstay dishes from Original Pizza and were very disappointed in the quality. The lasagna must have been a couple of days old and didn't seem to have the same whole milk mozzarella in it, the manicotti was still decent, but the meatballs were terrible. They were really fatty. Things probably would have been passable, but it was all way way way too salty. A lot of kids in the kitchen, I hope somebody is keeping an eye on the quality...somebody please hide the salt shaker. This used to be a solid 4 star place for us. not any more.
(2)Ethan M.
I have been debating writing this review for a couple of months. I love writing reviews that promote amazing places and if I have a midiocre experience I waive it off and don't bother. This is 1 of 2 reviews I specifically decided to write because it was needed. I didn't expect much from a place as small and nondescript as this, but what I did expect was the common decency to acknowledge my pressence within the first, oh, 20 FULL MINUTES I stood in front of the menu while you spoke in your native tongue on the phone while making eye contact with me. At that point I just wanted to know how LONG it would be before you GOT off the phone and actually said "Can I help you?". Apparently that was too much to ask, until a man came in and walked behind the counter, then the conversation the woman was having was wrapped up and the woman asked if he could help us, with an annoyed tone. I asked for a slice of pizza and she informed me that after 12 they don't do slices, so I said I'd take a Speghetti plate. She said okay and rang me up, then started talking in the preferred language to the man. Neither of them were even remotely preparing food at any point on ay level. I thought that maybe the food cooked itself. FINALLY after a lengthy conversation and 45 minutes later the man retires to the kitchen then I hear pots n pans banging, soon after he surfaces with some speghetti that looks like hell. The sauce is watery and more like a watercolor portrait of speghetti sauce, the noodles are larger than life and the only redeeming quality was the italian sausage, which seemed it MAY be hand made or at least was tastey. At this point we are late for our appointment NEXT DOOR, because it took so long to even GET the food and I asked for a to go box, which was met with the man raising his VOICE and his HANDS yelling "WHAT? WHATSA WRONG WITH IT?!", all offended. I explained that nothing was wrong with it but I had to go, so he takes the plate and as sluggish as possible puts the food in a box. This was Italian lunchroom food, American Style. I had high hopes from a place with such a mom and pop feel and was grossly overestimating it. I didn't pay $8+tip for speghetti, I paid that to see how far south my experience could go, I got my money's worth. We were the ONLY customers and I just can't believe such a small place would be so horrible in the customer service area. Bottom line is, that day, that meal, those people did NOT give a care to put in effort or whether they made a buck and seemed downright annoyed to have to bother with customers at all. Then to act offended at the potential of your meal not being well received just blows my mind.
(1)TJ S.
Great pizza, fun staff, and tasty amber on tap. I got the "Best Seller", which only comes in a large size, but that's fine for me.
(4)Aaron R.
(5)Megan H.
(5)Terry G.
(4)Lucy O.
(5)David B.
(3)Shawn B.
(3)M. T.
(3)Michelle P.

We talk about this place to everyone we know. They rock! We brought our family here when they were visiting from Maui - they said it was the best value they have ever seen. The place has character and the owner is behind the counter. He works hard, so we can eat incredible Italian. Five Stars!

I've been looking for a new pizza place in Broomfield. I went in, and tried this place for take-out. Unfortunately, I'm not very impressed at all. Although the pizza was OK, the garlic knots were pretty thoroughly burned. All this for $18.00. So, half the meal was bad, the other half was just OK, which averages out to 2 stars, so, I won't be coming back here, and my hunt continues.

(4)Michael H.
average pizza, but lousy/rude service every time the few times we've stopped by.
(3)Gus L.
(2)Austin B.
(2)Joe M.

(4)Chris M.
(2)Jay B.
They are a JOKE don't waste your time
(1)Jim W.

(5)Kellie A.
(1)Joe B.
(2)Heather C.
(5)Zichelle B.
(4)James W.
(5)Oliver T.
RUDE!
(4)SHN H.
(2)Jennifer B.
(4)Ethan M.

(1)D K.
(3)Summer S.
(3)Chris M.
This place is awesome, the Pizza is good and the inside is like most pizza places in the north east. Its a must try if you leave in North Denver or are a NY Giants fan!
(4)Tim D.
(4)Doug Y.
(4)Andrew H.

Okay so... don't go to this place.

So so pizza, lousy wait staff, rude and impatient. But hey, that's what NJ/NY is like, right? So I guess it's authentic. For me, that ruins the meal.

Best pizza ever! No place else even comes close. Stick with the pizza, though (and maybe a cannoli), and just accept the "Soup Nazi" mentality of the owner - he is alright once he recognizes you as a regular and the rest of the family is SO personable it makes up for it.

Being that I have lived here in Broomfield for The last 8 years and 100% new yorker i know pizza , this place rocks, and the best NYC style food out side NYC. If you from NYC will fit in perfect if your not forget about it you won't understand. They are the real deal.
