Firm believer that KT's is the best BBQ in Denver. I have been going here since 1995 when they only had the original restaurant in Boulder. I definitely try to stop in anytime I am on the north side of town, and the meal is always awesome. Having no barbecue restaurants near my house (common trend), I drove over here . This place is hard to miss, as there's very little in the way of signage. I almost went to Brother's instead and in retrospect, wish I had. The menu advertises pulled pork, but I witnessed an employee chopping up the pork behind the counter. Obviously, this makes it chopped pork and not pulled. The sides were reasonably tasty. The cole slaw was the kind with the large shreds of cabbage. I also wish they had "platters" available like most other BBQ restaurants. The smaller portion of meat that comes on a sandwich is enough if you're a child or a light eater, otherwise, you'll wish you had more. They offer pickles and onions upon request. When I asked for the onions, the counter girl had to ask someone to chop some fresh ones, as the ones in the Tupperware container had gone bad. I appreciate the consideration, but it wasn't a very good way to make a first impression.

I don't know what it is about BBQ joints in Denver/Boulder area, but brisket is supposed to be MOIST. The brisket here was terribly dry. The sauce was unremarkable. Staff was friendly, but that's no reason to come back. If I pay $9 for a sandwich, it better be good, and this was as blah as it gets.

KT's has become a classic. I have been eating with them since they opened their first store in East Boulder. The Barbecue is always great. Sauces are some of the best. Just go all in when you visit and have the Kirks Killer beans, redskin mashed potatoes and hot link side. My favorite is the Mike basket with pork. But honestly everything is good. For dessert go ahead a have the brownie. They are fresh and chocolate goodness.

I feel I am being generous in giving this 2 stars. The ambiance is sticky dirty divey place and not an any good way. I was hoping to find a decent close BBQ place for a quick lunch bite. KT's had good reviews so I tried it. To give you my background, I grew up in TN, lived in FL for 30yrs, and travel a lot for my job. I have tried BBQ in all the best spots. With that being said, there is certainly a spot in the world for average to good places that are cheaper or more convenient. KT's is not that place. The pulled pork tasted like some prepackaged stuff from the local King Soopers. I would actually find better at Whole Foods of all places as the new one near me smokes they bbq on site. The prices were cheap but the food was not even worth that price. I honestly cannot figure out why this place gets good reviews. Avoid it if you have any taste buds at all.

I have been a loyal customer of KTs for 17 years. My husband I had our first date at the Arapahoe location 16 years ago. After trying more bbq places over the years I always realize KTs is the best. It's always consistent, lean meats. Lately I have been ordering the June bowl but honestly everything on the menu is really good. I have never ever had a bad meal at KTs. Their loyalty card is really great. I can't hardly believe the rewards I get. Last time I got two receipts for ribs. Awesome great local restaurant.

i stopped in for a quick late lunch on the way to the airport. i got the small sandwich combo meal. beef brisket. it was really good. hit the spot perfectly. the sauce that comes on it is good. but among the sauces at the table, i couldn't find one that combined the sweet and salty mix i like in a more syrupy texture. but i was able to mix the hot one a and the mild one together for a successful combination. the slaw was okay. i think it must be hard to make slaw that tastes really good b/c you have to add so much bad stuff to the cabbage. i would say that i would not turn down the slaw if offered it. if i ever go back i would like to try the hot link.

Recommend the pulled pork over the brisket. Nice story, reasonable prices. Seems like a good lunch option. I had pulled pork with slaw and used the sweet sauce and enjoyed it. Brisket has some smoke flavor but chewy.

I can attribute the loss of at least half a star to the fact that I chose KT's with something specific in mind and was disappointed that they weren't it. Sometimes, if you are thinking of a restaurant, you should just go there, or go somewhere completely different, because there is not substitute. The food all had sort of a "mass produced" quality to them. I know that seems like an obvious statement for a restaurant, but the sides seemed like stuff I could get at the grocery store. I had the ribs, which had too much sauce for my liking and didn't really taste like they had been barbecued. They lacked smokiness. I did like being able to sit outside. The service was gritty, but friendly. All in all, not the best, not the worst.

Seriously one of the worst BBQ places I've ever eaten. The meat is so dry it's almost inedible. It is served on an equally dry bun. The only way to get the food down is to completely smother it in BBQ sauce. Unfortunately, all the sauces taste like black pepper. In addition to the poor food, the floors and tables were disgustingly sticky.

First off I have to agree with the previous reviewer that the staff is awesome. When I get the craving for some good bbq for lunch I'll zoom over to KT's before the noon lunch crowd and grab an order of ribs and taters. Try the "kitchen sink", they will put anything you want into a big cup and mix it all up. Wet naps are provided.

I pick up some meat from this place on my way home from work a couple times a month. The one downside, so far, is that it's kind of hard to get into the shopping center without backtracking, unless you know where you're going. Here's an interesting twist- during the summer months, they have classes on grilling and smoking meats. I took the grilling class over father's day weekend, and it was the best $30 I've ever spent.

Tonight, I had a sudden, overpowering craving for barbecue tonight, and decided to give KC's a try. While my experience was a little bit mixed, I did enjoy the food. I called our order in ahead, and drove down to pick it up. The place looked a little chain-like, but certainly smelled good inside. Most of the food prep area is in plain sight, which I always like, and everything was super-clean and well-maintained. The rest of the household ordered the brisket sandwich combos, and my husband and I ordered the rib basket combos, and I also ordered an extra pound of ribs. I was also pleased to see that they offer sweet tea (which you can usually only get in the South). For sides, we ordered, between us, cole-slaw, red-skin mashed potatoes, and the beans. We should have more carefully checked the bag we were handed, though - we got all the way home and discovered that we were short the two rib orders and some sides. This prompted a drive all the way back over to get the missing parts of our order. To their credit, the guy on duty was very apologetic, and gave us a complimentary pound of ribs and a free drink for our trouble. Nobody was terribly impressed with the brisket sandwiches - they were a bit dry - but they were by no means bad either. The ribs tasted very good, and were well-spiced and tender - easily the best part of the meal. I've had better, but these were certainly not mediocre, and were more than satisfying. The beans were lackluster, though not offensively so - they seemed to just be plain beans soaked in the same barbecue sauce as came on the side. The red-skinned potatoes were delicious, and the cole-slaw was pretty good. I rather enjoyed the sweet tea - it was prepared very strong and very sweet, but not sweet enough to make me dizzy - just how I like it. It's not the best barbecue I've had, but it is certainly good, and the prices are extremely reasonable. The staff is courteous, the place is clean, and even if they did make a mistake, they put it right. I could recommend this place for a quick barbecue fix, and will probably visit again.

I love KTs - the Memphis sauce (medium spice, vinegar-based) is to die for! They've recently added mac-n-cheese, which is pretty good if you're not feeling mashed potatoes or beans to go with your BBQ. Plus, the chocolate brownies are delicious. They lose a star in my book by not being open on Sundays. I don't know why, but I always am craving BBQ when they're closed!

A good alternative to Brother's. There are several other items on the list I want to try so I will be back. Sauce being 50% of BBQ they have a good selection. The other 50% (the chicken in this case) was moist on the inside and well chared on the exterior.

Jammed into a little strip mall off Wadsworth with Qwest Diagnostics and Abo's Pizza, KT's was a real treat of a gem to discover today when a co-worker took me to lunch. The first thing you notice in there is Gidget, the manager. She is super friendly, and quick and serving up what you want -- and is also very enthused about first time customers. Her staff is also very friendly. As noted in previous reviews, there is a customer loyalty program there and signing up for it you instantly get credited 40% of the way towards your 1st reward, which I believe is a free basket of ribs. *Yum*. If you inquire, Gidget will explain your choices to you with the panache of a seasoned pro -- she has a zesty love for barbeque and went into detail explaining choices to my friend and me. We were slightly pressed for time so we ordered sandwiches, my friend had the Pig Pile and I believe (not positive) I had the Texas Beef Brisket -- I do know for sure it was beef, my friend had pork. Gidget recommended a slightly different sauce lineup, which I admit is making my mouth gush just re-thinking about it. Meat is very tender and savory, I can't wait to try the other 2 sauces here. Beans were delicious, the mashed potatoes are *amazing* -- a combo of like homemade mashed potato texture, with a rich taste you don't normally get out of potatoes without slathering them with cream and butter -- but KT's manages it expertly. I'm not sure what the music was going in the background, but it was suitable for devouring BBQ. I can't wait to come here on a weekend sometime when there's not a rush to be in and out in 35 minutes. 4 1/2 stars. (and really, I can't think of why it's not 5...but since there is no 1/2 star standard for Yelp yet, I'm roundin up.)

Delicious BBQ! I'm craving a June Bowl right now just thinking about this place. The meats are great, sides are great too, especially the mashed potatoes! If you have room, try the "key lime pie" desert. It's like key lime pie in a little cup and it's awesome!!

I stopped by KT's almost by accident. I was craving BBQ and was headed to Brother's right now the street. I saw KT's sign and thought I would give it a shot instead. So glad I did! Their menu is small but that's a good thing in my opinion. I am a huge fan of pulled pork sandwiches and KT's was juicy, full of meat, and covered in their original barbecue sauce. I wish I hadn't filled up so quickly because surely I could scarf down another- the sandwich was so good. I wish they offered fries as a side buy their cole slaw and beans were surprisingly delicious. As far as price, I've become accustomed to $10 meals so the bill was not a shock.

Maybe i went on a bad day for KT's but i was extremely underwhelmed. The location isn't very good at all, although the area still seemed to draw a very good lunch crowd. The restaurant itself was very clean and looked newly remodeled. You order at the counter and the sandwiches are made right in front of you. The previous reviews for the Ribs were all pretty decent but I elected to try the Brisket. I tend to think you can tell a lot about a place by what should be there most popular item (pulled pork would be the other most popular I'm guessing). The beef was terrible. Sorry, but shredded, dried out brisket doesn't pass for bbq in my book. It lacked any semblance of a smoky flavor. It seemed like I couldn't get enough sauce on it to get it down. The sauce should complement the meat, not the other way around. My girl friend had the Chicken Sandwich. Again, no smokey flavor at all. If i had to guess, i would say it was a chopped chicken breast that was simply baked. Overall, location wasn't ideal. The concept and design of the restaurant were great, but the food wasn't good enough for me to come back.

Where to start... Let's start with the amazing staff. Especially the wonderful manager Gidgett. Amazing woman, who really knows a lot about the business, and loves what she does. Her love for the food is infectious. And the rest of the staff followed her lead and simply filled you with confidence that you are going to enjoy yourself while you are in their restaurant. Then comes the food. Now admittedly I am a bit of a BBQ nut, so on one hand I am biased, but on the other hand, I know good BBQ, so I may be harder to please. But either way, there were no worries because the food did not disappoint. I had the rib basket, with a side of red-skin mashers, and some of the most flavorful baked beans I've ever had. Now you have your choices of sauces, and I couldn't find fault with any of them, but what I settled on was a half and half between the mild and the hot, and quite simply, for a BBQ lover such as myself, I was in nirvana. The meat literally fell from the bone, and the sauces were the kind that if no one was looking I may very well have licked the plate clean to make sure I didn't miss a drop. The prices were very reasonable, about 5 bucks per basket, and the atmosphere was clean and the decor was very befitting of a BBQ shack. The only fault I could find with the place was that it is nearly impossible to find unless you've been there once prior. You have to go up Wadsworth (Highway 287) to 6th Avenue in Broomfield, take a left, and then an immediate right onto Alter. It is nestled inside a little strip mall, on the inside corner of the building. Once you find it, you'll never forget it.

Hands down best bbq in Colorado. Not a huge menu, but the few items on there are done exceptionally well. The Kitchen Sink is a great hangover remedy.

The BBQ beans are the best!! The Broomfield location seems a bit unkept compared to Boulder. Worth a stop.

The price is good and the service is fast, but the pulled pork was just so-so. There is an assortment of sauces to try, so perhaps I just chose the wrong one.

If you're in the Boulder or Broomfield area, KT's is definitely THE place for BBQ. Nothing else comes close. If you go, get the pulled pork or the brisket. The pork is very tender and tastes awesome with the tangy sauce. The brisket goes better with the sweeter Texas sauce, and also hits the spot. Personally, I'm not a fan of their ribs-they're overpriced for the little amount of meat on them, and have average taste at best. It seems like you pay more for the bones than actual meat when you could be enjoying a much better tasting pork or brisket, getting more food, and paying less. The baked beans and mashed potatoes are both very tasty, and the hot links are very good. If you have a sweet tooth, the homemade brownies are great. For lunch, a good size sandwich, two sides, and a drink will run you around $8, and it's well worth it. They run a customer loyalty program, and you'll get double points on Tuesday. The ladies who work there are always extremely friendly, and they play blues in there. There's a patio for warmer days, but consider yourself warned if you eat inside-it never fails that you leave KT's with the glorious smell of hickory smoke on your clothes.

I had won some gift certificates at work for KT's, the kids were craving BBQ, I was craving BBQ, so we decided to give KT's a try tonight. I like their family pack option: 1.25 pounds of meat (options are slim: chicken, pork butt, brisket for $1 extra. Ribs and hot links are not an option), four buns, two pints of sides, and brownies. They'll let you swap a third side for the brownies if you want. Side options are limited; they only have beans, cole slaw and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were a clear winner - skin on, garlicky, creamy, and gone within minutes, they were that good! I loved the cole slaw; creamy with big chunks of cabbage. The beans were a thumbs down; strange, mushy texture and too tangy for all of us. We chose chicken and pork for our meats. Two heaping pint boxes full! The pork was so juicy and tender! It made for a great sandwich! The chicken was a little dry, but the sweet and mild sauce helped kick it up. The location leaves something to be desired. It's tucked in a strip mall off 6th and Hwy 287, but you have to actually track around Alter St. And, once you find the parking lot, you weave your way around to Hwy 287 on foot. The customer service was okay; I wasn't wowed, and I was a little irritated with the first employee I met who said he wouldn't help me because he'd already clocked out (okay, why is this my problem - or, my business? Just find someone who can ring me up, please!) This is not on par with Big Papa's or (gasp!) Famous Dave's. I would love more side dish options, and given how dry the chicken was, I'd be concerned about the brisket. But, it's worth putting in the carry out rotation.

I have been to this chain twice and both times I have to say have been really good. While I can't speak to the authenticity of the BBQ style, it certainly is delicious AND at a really good price. The location in Bloomfield is kind of small (8-10 tables) and parking can be limited because it is a shared lot with other businesses. Don't let that dissuade you from dining here. Lunchtime can be slow so I would say that is the best time to go if you don't want a crowd. More on what matters: The Food. Fantastic. I will now come by here every time I visit Colorado to get a taste. Most recently I had one of the 1qt bowls and wow - so much. 2 sides with beef brisket, plus some of the mild & tangy sauce made for a great treat. I don't eat like a bird but it was still almost too much. Be sure to ask them to put the meat on top. My wife had the Annie's plate combo and it was enough for her - pork shoulder on a bun with a side of mashed potatoes. With a drink. Less than $7. The staff are also very friendly and personable. Service was good for counter-only and they offered many suggestions. I highly recommend this place over others nearby.

Since 1998, this is one of my favorite BBQ joints. Quick and not expensive, a great spot for lunch. Also worth looking into is their BBQ/grilling classes and their holiday hams. Catering is great for work functions or parties. Favorites of mine: Pulled pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, brownie, hot link sausage. Also available on occasion is the killer black bean chili. So awesome!

Unfortunately this is an edit of an earlier 3 star rating. I don't like writing such a scathing review but this was terrible and a shame to BBQ. Not sure what is going down at KT's BBQ in Broomfield but the past 2 times was really disappointing. I thought the first bad visit was an aberration so went again today to give them another shot. 1) I went in right after work ( about 5 ish) and was the only one in there and waited several minutes before a very sleepy server showed up.. Bad Start! 2) I ordered beef brisket and pulled pork. honestly I was a little worried as she began to chop up my meat as there was long stringy looking pieces of beef jerky looking stuff in my beef brisket 3) Paid 15.50 for 1 lb of meat product. Price is a bit high but I have paid a whole lot more of great bbq 4) took home to eat it 5) The pork was tasteless and dry 6) The beef brisket tasted OK but I got these long strings of beef jerky that were simply inedible. How can a BBQ joint allow this out there door? 7) KT BBQ you need to wake up and smell the BBQ. why have you let your business come to this point? 8) So if your losing business start with your food... I will not be going back again.

I tried this place because I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law and we were all craving BBQ. We looked on Yelp, and this placed had some decent reviews, so we decided to give it a try. This is a little hole in the wall kind of place. You walk in and place your order at the counter. They make up your plate while you wait, then you find a seat in the dining room. The fact that they chop the meat to order is nice. Also, they weigh it after chopping to guarantee you are getting everything as advertised. The four of us ordered different items and had somewhat mixed reviews. I ordered the pork shoulder, and so did my daughter-in-law. We both were pleased with the portions and flavor. It was juicy and tender. Hubby ordered the pork ribs. While he said they were not "fall off the bone" tender, they were flavorful. Our son ordered the beef brisket. He said it was "good". They offer several sides, including mashed potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans, half a hot link, chips, brownie, and a few others. The sides we tried were average. The thing I especially enjoyed were their sauces. They have three to choose from; sweet/mild, vinegar based/medium, and double diamond/hot. All were quite good.

We just moved to Broomfield and we are trying to check out the local spots. We ran across Kt's on 287 and we were very happy. Sunday afternoon and they were fairly busy for lunch (when we left, I took a look at Brother's parking lot and it was empty). The beans are AMAZING, the coleslaw was very good as well. I saw someone else get the mashed potatoes and they looked really good too. I was slightly disappointed on the amount of meat on the sandwiches - but it was so tender and melt in your mouth, that maybe I just really "wanted" more:) My 3 year old did not leave anything on his plate - and that's a pretty big deal!

I checked out KTs based on yelp review, thumbs down. Small portions, very smokey BBQ taste is one note and over powering, the sauces were not very good. Very small sides and I am pretty sure that the key lime pie was lime jello pudding. Overall I was very disappointed. Brothers BBQ is much better and right down the street.

KT's has great BBQ! They're top on the list of what to get when I don't feel like cooking, the whole family loves it! The Brownies are awesome too!

I have hired KT's to cater my company summer picnic for over 5 years. Not only do they do a great job but the price is great for the amazing BBQ. Such a treat and highly recommended.
