I'm shocked I haven't reviewed Jimmy Johns yet. I was made aware of their existence by my work supervisor, and since then have visited 4 locations. With the exception of 1 french bun which was getting hard and annoying to eat, the experiences at all 4 locations have been tasty and very good to superb. There are 2 overwhelming reasons to visit Jimmy Johns over various other "mega-" sub chains. 1) The speed of service is fast to near blinding depending on when you get there/what the crowd in front of you is like, and 2) the bread is freshly baked every day, I believe at least twice a day if not more often. It's soft and amazing and holds up well with whatever it's laden with. There are long French rolls, and there are whole wheat rolls, that Ihave seen so far -- there *may* be other types, but I can't recall them offhand. Some of the other reasons to go: *) Prices for the quality of food you get are pretty-very cheap. They have subs under $5 (8" ones, 7 varieties), giant club sandwiches (what I normally get) that are either 12"-14" (guesstimating) for $5.55 + tax (11 varieties), and the Gargantuan - "Tons of genoa salami, sliced smoked ham, capicola, roast beef, turkey & provolone, jammed into one of our homemade French buns then smothered with onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, & our homemade Italian dressing." Um...*yum*??? *) Eating lo-carb?? No problem -- they have the "UNwich" - Same ingredients and price of the sub or club without the bread, all wrapped up in lettuce leaves. Sounds tasty! Want *just* the meat and bread? No problem there too, they have "Plain Slims" - any sub minus the veggies and sauce. They do cater, and they have a load of freebies you can request: "Onion, lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, tomato, mayo, sliced cucumber, Dijon mustard, oil & vinegar, and oregano" Yum. Not like Subway who changed their corporate policy to charge for "extra veggies" in 2007-2008. You can also get tasty avocado spread as well, for a price... *) They have good tasting ingredients - they taste 'fresher' and not like they've come out of some corporate plastic-tarped mega-pack; they DON'T do the annoying Subway thing (at least not in front of you) going "1....2....3...ok that's 3 corporately-determined slices of turkey pulp shaped to save us money....if you want more that'll be $2 extra". F*** Subway. It's good for a quick bite to eat, but it's not a "good sub". *) The attitudes of people at all but 1 of these places (on 1 particular day when they cut 3 noobs loose to serve people who didn't have a clue what the refund policy was for 1 frustrated lady....ha) are cheerful to amazing. They make eye contact. They smile - *big*, happy-to-see-you smiles. Try getting that at "I'm pseudo-out-of-it" Subway or "You're a burden to me, what the f**k do you want?" Quiznos? You can't a good deal of the time. (Individual stores may vary, I'm selecting a few in SE Denver as my data point examples). They want you to be happy. And when you complete that order, it's usually 1-2 minutes before you have a happily wrapped sub in your hand. They have their own brand of chips, as well as big cookies, drink choices are plentiful -- for a quick sub, it's a great place to go. Is it gourmet? Mmmmm...I wouldn't say I'm experienced enough to ask. It's not a place you'd go for an oil-drenched 3-foot super-piled thick connoisseur's masterpiece...but for what it is, they *rock*. And I'm finding, fortunately, they are more plentiful stores-wise than I had been led to believe. This is great news. :) Hours are 11am-9pm daily.

The service is super quick. The menu is simple. The price is right. The sandwiches are pretty good, I prefer this over Subway any day.

Great sandwiches, definitely beats Subway, Togo's, Blimpie's and Quiznos. Potbelly's provides good competition, though, as does Potbelly's knock-off The Toaster Over in San Francisco. Friendly staff as well.

The place was clean, and cool which was nice to come into on a hot day.The staff was friendly, and welcoming, I had the Vito with the hot peppers. The food was prepared fast, and it was fresh. What else could you ask for?

First time in a Jimmy Johns. I love the atmosphere. The gents at this location were extremely friendly and service oriented. I had the #16, turkey bacon and added avo, which was a little weird - like mediocre guacamole. The bread was fantastic though and they were generous with the bacon. Their chips are tasty, thick, and crunchy.

Meh. Gourmet? I think not. It's more like a Subway that uses Hellman's mayo and Grey Poupon mustard. Same sorry selection of subs. Don't get me wrong, it was fresh and tasty but I was drawn by the claim of gourmet sandwiches and on that expectation they did not deliver.

Well, I would have liked to try this place for lunch but delivering to the Colorado Tech Center, which is 2.34 miles away according to their website, is too far for their drivers to go... unless we have a large enough order of course! This restaurant must be doing extremely well to be so comfortable denying business to 100+ companies within the CTC. Good for you Jimmy! Update! Looks like Silvermine is banking on the CTC business even though they're 3.7 miles away.

I work late and take my food break around 8:30-9:30 pm. Needless to say its hard to find places open around this time. Because they are one of the few places open until 9 I frequent them a lot. I'm always THAT dude coming in 5 minutes before close. Despite every reason to give me guff for walking in while they're trying to close, every single time I am greeted very warmly and made to be know that my business is welcome. The kid behind the counter making the sandwiches is especially polite and always wave me in when I'm standing behind the glass door wondering if I should be THAT guy again. Great food, OUTSTANDING customer service.

Don't even think about asking for modifications here. I've been here about once a month for the past year or so. They are amazingly quick. The food is mediocre at best. But the speed has been what's brought me back. I went today and was to bring home two sandwiches for my daughters. One wanted a "slim turkey" but with hot peppers added. The cashier couldn't add hot peppers to that on the register. He asked a more experienced coworker who confirmed that if the register wouldn't let him add an item then they were not allowed to sell it that way. They add hot peppers to every other sandwich I've ordered. But for some reason they aren't allowed to add them to "slims." So, I'm done and won't be back. The rest of my family has never liked the place but I'd convinced my daughter that with hot peppers on the sandwich to add flavor it was tolerable. There are dozens more options nearby that are better--Jason's, Big Dog Deli, Rotello's, Heidi's, Deli Zone, etc. None are as fast--Jimmy John's really has that mastered--but if I can't have hot peppers added to certain sandwiches when they are clearly a menu item, the place doesn't deserve my business. I only patronize places that tend to care about their customers, not places with seemingly arbitrary rules. Cross this one off the list.

Fast. Relatively Cheap. Good. Jimmy John's promises "freaky fast" service. This particular location is staffed/trained appropriately to deliver on that promise. My interaction from speaking my order to being handed my sandwich is typically no more than 40 seconds. The price is right. As of this writing a sandwich and chips cost $6.25 out the door. You can do a cheaper lunch at McSlingers, but JJ's is right at the sweet spot. The sandwiches taste great. Great tasting meat, great tasting cheese, great tasting bread, crispy lettuce, etc. Further, the portion size is spot on. If there were more I would eat it, but I probably shouldn't. Their sandwich as is fills me up just dandily. Pro tip: You can buy day old loaves of bread! For what you might ask? Make some baguette sized french toast the next morning or make yourself a chopped steak sandwich at home. This bread is gold.

Dirty. We came in about 30 minutes before closing. One of the employees was rolling up rugs and moving them to the door. I watched as I came in and placed my order with another person, and then she went back and made my sandwich. No change of gloves, no hand washing, just straight floor to bread. My stomach was tied in knots because you'd think it's easy to say NO WAY. But it isn't. I didn't want to upset my wife or the customers behind us. So I paid 6 bucks for a sandwich I threw away. Thanks jimmy, I won't be back.

Fast, friendly and clean location. Much better option than subway, I wouldn't go calling the sandwiches gourmet but they are delicious and well priced. Great deal for what it is

  • Adam F.

Sandwiches are really good -- just basic top quality ingredients. 7 grain bread is great. And they truly have freaky fast service. For me from placing the order, till it arriving at my second floor apartment door takes about 11 minutes. Insane!

Beats the crap out of Subway. Nice people too - and they all seem to: Speak English, welcome you to the store, politely take your order, and smile and thank you for being there. I am not from this area, so I don't know if that is an unfair comparison of the local Subways - I am comparing it to the Subway shops in my town. The sandwich was outstanding! We do not have Jimmy John's (as far as I know) out my way. I would compare this to Jersey Mike's. Very fresh ingredients all around and a great meal. If you're looking for Subway, do yourself a favor and hit Jimmy John's instead. You'll be glad you did.

This place if great and of course it's freaky fast! Never had a problem with this Jimmy Johns. They are quick, clean, and friendly. Oh did I mention they are cheap?

The entire staff was great and made us feel like our business was appreciated. The sandwiches were made "freaky-fast" and made us make the switch from subway from now on.

This location charges $.25 for a cheap, flimsy, small water cup. Do I need to say anything more? For those of you that don't understand my point, I will say more... - 99% of businesses do not charge for water cups. - The cashiers must be trained to not mention they charge for water cups; they only admit it after you question your receipt. - Why would anyone support this business for charging the customer unnecessary money? As a consumer, I will support businesses that make me feel welcome and provide a superior product. Guess what greedy franchise owner, subtly charging me for a water cup that costs you $.01 or less (earning you approximately 2400% profit) DOES NOT make me feel welcome and in fact means you provide a horrible overall product compared to others. I could create a list of 100 other stores that provide equal or better sandwiches and free cups for water. - Welcome to capitalism and competition. You have officially lost all of my business, and hopefully many others'. I recommend eating at Jason's Deli nearby, Heidi's Brooklyn Deli, Subway, places inside FlatIrons Mall, or either Qdoba or Noodles right next door.

Sandwiches are cheap ($5.35 for a big one) and filling. Much quicker than subway (!!!), and they deliver. Get a beach club or a billy club. I always add hot peppers. Cookies are decent and theres raspberry brisk tea in the fountain. Overall 4/5- it's fast food with solid all-round service.

Tonight I had the Vito on wheat... I love their wheat bread just wish it were a little thinner sliced! Super fast service and delivery!

Another great jj's location. All the north Denver jj's seem to have fantastic customer service and my sandwich is always put together really neatly (as it should be). It actually resembles the picture near the menu. Gotta stop if your in the area!

My wife, daughter and myself all had lunch at the Broomfield location (near flatirons crossing). The Lulu was good sandwich with a decent price. The only complaint was the service from the person at the front counter. This guy looked disengaged from his customers, us included. He did not greet us when we walked in, he didn't thank us for coming into the restaurant, nor did he smile once. Customer service goes a very long way. If you want return customers for your mediocre sandwiches, you should probably brush up on your interpersonal skills and treat your customers properly.

This place had me at #9 Italian Night Club. Don't get me wrong, the sandwiches are very good with fresh, just slightly chewy bread, but it's the speed of this place that separates it from others. Most of the time, I'm still getting change from paying and they hand me my sandwich. I also have these guys deliver to the office often and I'm still amazed at how fast they get it there. I can call in an order and they have it at the office in 10-15 minutes - it's at least 5 minute drive. If this place has flaw, it's the thing that makes them successful - a limited menu. There are several sandwiches, but you can only get chips, a pickle and drinks. Oh yeah, they have cookies, but they're hard and pretty uneventful.

I've never really understood the appeal of Jimmy John's. Their sandwiches are simple and taste okay - though I find them falvorless and the toppings are limited. I always wished they had some spicy sauces or something. The one draw is that they used to deliver to my office - which is so convienient on those days when you just can't get away, so I ordered from them at least once a week. Today I call and they informed me they no longer will drive the 3.5 miles to my workplace because "they were just spending to much time over there" - meaning too many people from my building were ordering from them. So, we're giving them too much business??? Does that seem bass-ackwards to anyone else?? I've taken this as invitation to never give them any of my business again. Thanks for making it so clear that I shouldn't spend my money at your establishment.

Another A-OK place for lunch near work. Service is fast and friendly. They have about 20 people behind the counter making sandwiches so I assume that accounts for the speedy service. My 3 fav's are the Jimmy John, Vito and the Bill Club. The bread doesn't look like much but is nice and chewy. Just don't expect a New York Deli proportion of meat. Still, 1 sub fills me up just right. To kick my sandwiches up a notch I have them throw some peppers on. If you like Subway, you'll love Jimmy Johns.

"What's Jimmy John's?" Apparently, people from Chicago and Missouri love this place. My boss visited from Missouri and she took me out to lunch and I picked Jimmy John's. Oh boy, was I surprised! :) From that day forward I was hooked. Everytime I go, I get the same thing. The #12 Beach Club (w/ the peace sign). Woot! It's good and has guac in it. Mmhmm! I love their signs in some locations, "Free smells!" Haha! I would definitely recommend this place.

Say Goodbye to Subway! Helloooooooo, Jimmy John's! My first experience with Jimmy John's was on the concrete ground outside the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. We were "Rushing" for $20 front-row Rent tickets, and MAN, we were HUNGRY. So I got on my laptop, and looked up "Downtown Denver Food Delivery." Jimmy John's was not only on the TOP of that list, but they actually advertised that they will deliver to a sidewalk! BONUS! (Seeing as how, you know, that's were we WERE and all...) There were about 20 of us there, and about half of us ordered from them that day. We got: #9 ITALIAN NIGHT CLUB Real genoa salami, Italian capicola, smoked ham, and provolone cheese all topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and homemade Italian vinaigrette. (You hav'ta order hot peppers, just ask!) We asked for (and got!) the hot peppers on the side. You know, just in case. They were piquant banana peppers, and matched perfectly with this classic sub. and: #10 HUNTER'S CLUB A full 1/4 pound of fresh sliced medium rare roast beef, provolone, lettuce, tomato, & mayo. (No Tomato. Add Dijon Mustard.) Again, fresh, rare beef, ample toppings. Here's the thing, though. THEIR BREAD... Oh. My. Gosh. It's heavenly. It's crusty yet soft, flavorful, and absolutely, utterly perfect for sandwiches. Also Impressive: Their Mayonnaise is Hellman's. (Best Foods) Their Dijon Mustard is Grey Poupon. Quality counts here, and that makes an impression on a foodie like me! We returned the next day, still camping out for tickets, this time took a walk to an actual Jimmy John's store. We enjoyed the signage on the walls. Don't miss those. Things like "Use Your Napkin" and "Hold Doors for Old Ladies." Very Cute. The drinks are printed in Red, Black, and White, with the word "DRINK" on them. The Napkins say "WIPE" in the same fashion. Again, very creative and cute. We've been back many times, to many different locations, tried lots of the sandwiches (Never been disappointed yet) and learned some of the tricks (Onion, lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, tomato, mayo, sliced cucumber, Dijon mustard, oil & vinegar, and oregano. All may be added to any sub. FREE!) We've experienced the exceptional training of the Jimmy John's Employees. Keep in mind, these are mainly High-School Aged kids... but they unfailingly welcome you when you walk in the door, say "Thank You" and "Have a Great Day" when you leave. Hello, Jimmy Johns. Thank YOU!

I tried Jimmy John's for the first time today, and have a mouthful as I type. MMMMM! Tasty. I tried the 'bootlegger' which had turkey and roast beef. I was caught off guard at the speed with which they throw these things together. Unlike Subway, where you order your toppings separately, at JJ's you better speak up if you want or don't want other than the standard accouterments. Unfortunately, my lack of experience here lost me out on adding cherry peppers, which I imagine would have capped what was a delicious sub. On a final note, the other Yelpers aren't kidding about that bread! It's the perfect sandwich bread. Awesome!

  • Melissa H.

Still a solid 3 stars ... the best part of this place is really how fast they make your sandwich up for you. By the time you've paid and are on your way to get your drink it's ready. The sandwich options are pretty basic which probably lends to them being able to be prepared so quickly. If I'm looking for a speedy sandwich, then I'll hit this place up ... otherwise it's still Big Dog Deli for me.

Exceptional food and Service witha smile, I love the fact that as soon as you say your order it is usually ready in about 1 minute and your walking back out the door on your way. The portions are generous and the meats are fresh. I think other sandwich shops could learn something here! A Definite Recommendation!

  • Jimmy W.

Nice job, Jimmy Johns. Despite the fact that Jimmy Johns is getting to be a pretty big phenomenon around the country (and for a good reason!,) the food is always consistently good, served fresh, and served with a smile. The sandwiches come out fast, almost always correctly made, and they are so darn good!

Meh. Tried it twice and was hardly impressed either time. Want a good sandwich? Head over to Big Dog Deli.
