A good Sunday brunch was all we wanted - that is NOT what we got here. Their food wasn't all that but their service was pathetically slow, we asked for condiments twice before we could ever get them, they messed up BOTH our orders and when it came time to pay the bill, we told them how unhappy we were with the service...their response? Oh talk to the manager next time you come and they'll get you a discount. Is that the kind of response you want to hear? All around a waste. Stay away. We just had lunch here today. I have to say I'm underwhelmed. There were very few other diners but there was a definite wait time - as in, enough time to sip two cups of coffee. I like my coffee and entrees to be nice and temperature hot, this place had some issues with serving food beyond warm. Not good for me! I tried the Santa Fe Huevos - black beans on tortilla topped with egg, green or red chile and cheese along with some hash browns. I'm thinking Santa Fe would be offended for the lack of flavors. A better option for lunch would have been an entree that didn't require heat such as a salad. $2.79 for a coffee? seriously. My other lunch partners seemed okay with their entrees, one had a pancake and the other had a breakfast dish. The our server was nice and friendly but we saw her only once to check on us, not that we needed her. I don't think i'll be rushing back for a repeat anytime soon.

I've hit almost every breakfast place in Boulder and this one rocks. Big and creative menu; there are at least a half dozen other entrees I'd like to try. My veggie benedict was quite good - bold flavor from both the asparagus and mushrooms. Grits were tasty but lumpy. My own carafe of not-so-good coffee. Have searched high and low for a good cuppa in this town, but at least this place doesn't make you beg for it. I despise having to hunt down a server for barely payable coffee, which is all I've encountered here (please let me know if you know where to find good coffee!). Even the fancier places have both coffee. LATER - Other yelpers say upgraded coffee is available.Skeptical but will def try next time. The establishment is clean and orderly, service was efficient and friendly. No Wi-Fi but I piggybacked on the neighbor Whole Foods signal, at least sitting next to the window or on the patio. Although menu is not the same, this place is the spitting image of a restaurant chain in Arizona, The Good Egg.

I have eaten at the Colorado Springs location and was always impressed. I order the same damn thing every damn time and it is damn good - the Mexican Omelette. I am a creature of habit. Stopped at the Boulder location on a Sunday around 9:30am. Plenty of seating available. The place was pretty clean in the dining area and restroom followed suit. The food saved this from being a two star review. The service was horrible. We sat for 5 minutes before anyone came to the table for our drink order - okay, I can let that slide. Our waiter took his time making his way back to us for our order and then went completely MIA for the next 25 minutes. Four other table were served their food before us and they were seated much later than we were. Three different people brought our food at three separate times and still managed to forget a side. I hope this was anomaly because I have always been happy with the service at other locations. Again, the food is always great, just bad service this time around. This won't stop me from returning.

Needed a quick and nutritious breakfast and followed yelps lead to the Egg & I... Was seated immediately and the server was here a moment later, answering all my questions with ease. At his recommendation I went with the Vera Cruz Omelette... Yummy :)) While not gourmet, the food was well prepared, delivered quickly and quite tasty. The service... was spot on - there when needed and not there when not. I'll be back!

I have been to this restaurant multiple times and usually have received adequate food and service. On my most recent visit, service was on the slow side, particularly for a weekday. Two pots of coffee for a total of 10 people does not work out well. I ordered the Santa Fe Huevos. My meal looked nothing like the photo on Steven S.'s review; it resembled regurgitated Huevos Rancheros and was lukewarm at best. The eggs were basically raw (supposed to be over- medium) and the portion was about one third of the size I have received previously. Server did not return to refill drinks or ask how things were, or I would have requested something else. No offer to refill water or coffee. Very disappointing for a restaurant that was usually nothing special. They can't afford food and service that was less than good in Boulder. I will think twice before I return.

The patio is great -- huge shade tree that keeps it nice and cool. Food is great, standard Egg and I menu that doesn't disappoint.

One of our favorite places for breakfast in Boulder. We've always had a great meal here, the service is good, not much of a wait, at least during the week. My daughter gets one of their "skillet" breakfasts and they're always good. Son loves their pancakes. Love the big windows and natural light too!

good service. good portion size (pancake was huge). many options. only wish there were servers old enough for me to hit on. LOL jk it's not in the heart of boulder, but it's still worth a go. i'd eat here again!

We loved this place the one time we went for breakfast. They have a large menu and friendly servers. Food came out fast and the coffee and water were kept refilled. Great kids menu and the adult items aren't too huge (you don't want to start the day with a huge gut bomb, do you?). I'm going back next time I'm in Boulder.

Excellent selection of breakfast food. I had one of the best omelets I've had in a long time. The service was really great too. Next time I'm in Boulder I will definitely eat here again. Oh yes, the coffee taste really good.

I had a decent meal here, but it wasn't what I ordered. Several orders at our table were messed up, but we all had a flight to catch so we just ate what we were brought. Perhaps the waitress was just having a bad day?

I can walk here from my home and am there for breakfast at least once a month, often more. The place is always busy, with a diverse crowd: seniors, college kids, lunch ladies. The food is consistent and well presented. I have NEVER had bad service or an incorrect order. They redecorated a few years ago with a similar theme but more up to date. I'd be very upset if they went out of business. They have a very nice back room which can be reserved for groups of 10 to 25 people.

It was pretty good, it was college diner style and my corn beef hash was tasty and filling. That said, it was somewhat filthy, there was literally an entire piece of bacon on the booth bench where I sat. The service was not the best either, our waitress dropped off our food and never came back, we had to go up to the counter to ask for our check to pay, which may be what you're supposed to do, either way the service and the cleanliness combined was what made me give them a two star rating. Other than that the food was again, pretty good.

We had a coupon that got us a free entree with the purchase of another entree. Good thing; I would have been a little ticked had I paid full price. I can sum up the Egg and I's overall food vibe in one word: Inoffensive. Okay, full disclosure, I used to live around the corner from here when I was a college sophomore, and would stumble over pretty much every Sunday for brunch. I raved over the benedicts and would scarf them like they were going to be my last meal for days. Maybe the food was better then... and maybe when I was a sophomore I smoked my face (and tastebuds) off on weed and I thought ALL food (if it was salty enough) was the best food ever. I'm guessing it's the latter. This visit I had what was basically deconstructed Cordon Bleu over potatoes with eggs. It came hot, steaming, and bland to the table. Dan's Santa Fe Huevos was not in the least bit spicy (nonspicy green chile? Blasphemous!) and had rotten guacamole on top, which was luckily still sitting in a little easily-removed scoop. Both of our meals were finished, but with nary a compliment paid to the taste. Dan and I are totally that obnoxious couple who analyzes/complains about/exclaims excitedly over food as we eat it, and this just... well, we had nothing to say. It was food, it filled us up, we would not be craving it again. The one thing that we did have something to say about was their 'smoothie' menu. I don't know about you, but when I think smoothies I think, blended fruit, maybe some frozen yogurt or something. When the Egg and I thinks smoothies they apparently think 7-up, vanilla creme, Coke, peanut butter, chocolate syrup, mango syrup, and maraschino cherries, because that's the ingredient list that made up most of their menu of 'smoothie' options. Dan got this monstrosity of orange juice, 7-up, vanilla creme, and mango syrup, and it was essentially like a Jolly Rancher vomiting into my mouth. I don't recommend it.

I have over and over again that Boulder is a foodie dream in Colorado. Well not if what you are looking for is a great breakfast at a great price. Colorado Springs is clearly the better choice. I tend to shy away from franchised place and the reason is because they aren't good....The Egg and I was no different. The coffee was meh, the food was super average and it took literally forever to get drinks and food. I really hate bad service, followed by average food. So I recommend strongly that you find a good bakery with good coffee and skip this place.

I went here for lunch with hubby, his friend and their family. It took us awhile to get our food and the restaurant wasn't full. They brought me sausage instead of bacon but quickly fixed that. My husband's english muffin was a little overtoasted. He thought his turkey sausage was okay. I ordered the french toast and thought it was better than the waffle the server in Longmont suggested. In all, I still think the prices are a little high for breakfast but it was an okay lunch.

This is a very well-managed Egg and I. I've dined here intermittently over the time since the Le Francais closed and this chain opened in the location. I've also dined at a few Egg and I restaurants in the North Suburban area of Denver. This Egg and I has some employees who've been working at it for quite a long time. Longevity of employment is a good sign with these chain restaurants, in my humble opinion. I usually order the Garden Fritatta with fruit salad instead of potatoes (I don't really like diced cooked potatoes...never have) and the raisin toast. Any restaurant that has raisin toast available is usually a decent restaurant. That's always been an accurate indicator for me, anyway. Having raisin bread available is a thoughtful touch. Well, don't want to bore you while I gush on and on about raisin bread, so I'll move forward. Their omelettes are good, and their various breakfast offerings with green chiles. They have lunches too, but neither I nor my family nor anyone I know has tried the lunches. Therefore I cannot make any comment. The Boulder Egg and I offers friendly and efficient service, friendly enough greeting. There was a waitperson there for awhile who was a bit too aggressive for my tastes, trying to convince me to order a smoothie-ish drink again that I didn't like the only time I did order it. The smoothie-ish drinks are not this restaurant's specialty or forte, but egg dishes are and their egg dishes are all quite good. I do not eat breakfast meats so cannot comment on those either, but people who are eating meats at the tables near me look satisfied with them. This is a restaurant that aims to please, and welcomes feedback. I will return....

A fantastic breakfast! While visiting with friends, my boyfriend and I were taken here once as a way to introduce us to a place we didn't have back home. We wound up requesting a second visit on our "last" day in Colorado - it was that good! All of the food I had here was great. The avocados were fresh, everything was made to order, the juices were delicious, and - something rare outside of the South - they had GRITS. As a southern belle, I love my grits. :) Everything was excellent and the service was fantastic. Both times the wait staff was attentive even though it was very crowded, and it felt like an old 50s diner. If you're not from the area and are searching for a great brunch spot, I highly recommend you try out this place! If you're just looking for a new spot to grab breakfast at and you live in the area... this is it!

The staff was great, the restaurant was clean. However, the food was not good at all. My husband added sausage to his breakfast and said that it was just microwaved and not worth the two dollars. I ordered an egg white omelet. The fruit was pretty good, but the omelet was definitely not worth nine dollars. The eggs seemed over and under cooked and the veggies were not really cooked either. The kids liked their pancakes, but for the price, again not worth it. Again, super great staff, and I didn't complain because it was my first time there and I really don't think there is much they could change with what they have.

Fantastic breakfast with a view. Open, airy, and clean with outdoor seating, I think this is the best place to start your day in town. Collin and Conner are twin brothers serving you with laughter and a smile. Coffee is excellent (Rain is nice and bold) and you can't miss on any plate.

Aside from the friendly wait staff and the speedy service, the fact that our waitress could say she's tried every dish and recommend something I ended up loving wins major points in my book. The food was fabulous and came in reasonable sizes so I didn't leave feeling hungry or bloated, but just right.

My wife and I stumbled on this place about a year ago. We were back in Boulder, this summer, and she suggested coming back here. Good idea! Wonderful variety of interesting breakfast dishes. She had the crab benedict, which was delightful, with a generous amount of Hollandaise sauce. I almost went for the corned beef hash, but decided on the Santa Fe huevos. Really good. Wish we had more breakfasts in Boulder.

An American breakfast model, Egg and I is breakfast done right. A bright morning spot with news papers and a barber shop two doors down. Most dishes severed with fresh fruit and toast. Don't miss the Denver Omelet or Josh's burrito.

My first time finally checking out an Egg & I Restaurant, and it is worthy of a return visit. Checked into this one in Boulder, CO, and met by an extremely friendly staff. Ordered the Santa Fe Huevos (see photo), based on the fact that I live right off Santa Fe Road. Which makes no sense and is devoid of any logic whatsoever, but I made the connection anyway and it stuck. So I ordered it. Huevos were quite good. Came in about 1:00 pm on a Friday and almost had the place to myself. Pay at the cash register on way out.Simple and fast for a sit down place. A step above a Denny's, close to an IHOP but emphasis on those eggs!

I want to say that I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. This is really too bad because I had a much better experience at the location in Estes Park Colorado. When I came to the restaurant, I was seated at a table that was much too large for my own single self. They were clearly busy, and the table in front of me did not receive their food until after some other tables in the area. They talk to the manager, and one of the meals was compensated for them. In my situation, I saw that there was advertisement for free wireless Internet. However, not only was it not available, it was not able to be reached from the laundry store across the street which they said I could use. In addition, it took over 10 minutes just to receive a lemon for my water. The food was generally good, but when I ask for no mushrooms in the omelette there were mushrooms in the scrambled eggs that were also brought, but I probably should've noticed this. It took quite a long time to get my check, even though the server had mentioned that I might want a box to go. I said and waited over 10 minutes by myself with no interaction from the server. When I went to pay I had a student coupon for half off of one of the entrées. I don't know what happened, but they took the entire second entrée off the bill. They also excepted my expired coupon although they may not have noticed.. Overall, a pretty bad experience, and I think that I will not be going back. I am not saying that no one should go there, but I just did not have a good experience.

Love the twins who work there! A great family-friendly place!

The best. Get the Heuvos Rancheros. We used to split it when we lived across the street.

This place has great omelets, crunchy bacon and roomy booths. The coffee is ok, the french toast is good and the service is fine. Nothing spectacular, but if you are craving a hearty breakfast, it's the place to go!
