Excellent service and the food was outstanding. The naan and the tandoori lamb dish was cooked well and full of flavor. Added a side of chutney and some yogurt and a paneer sag curry, and my fiancé and I were very satisfied. We'll be back.

I had a drink -- whose name I can't remember, that had pomegranate flavoring -- which was exotic-tasting, but too tiny to give me a good buzz before our food arrived. We split the onion kulcha naan, the chicken masala, and the chicken korma. The onion kulcha was very tasty. It had plenty of onion and flavor, and was crispy on the bottom, much unlike the microwaved naan we had at Kathmandu in Nederland. The korma was very delightful -- buttery and flavorful, and it was the better out of the two entrees. The masala was pretty disappointing. It lacked flavor and depth. The service was satisfactory, and the ambiance was romantic.

Not pretentious and all about flavor! We hear that this place was yummy and I'm so glad we finally gave it a try. The Dahl soup was a thing broth full of flavor. Drew enjoyed tandoori chicken and I had the apricot, coconut curry with lamb. Both were incredible but I liked mine best. Next time I would order the hot instead of medium as mine was very rich and could handle a bit more heat. Loved the rice which was seasoned with herbs. Service was quick without being pushy. Atmosphere was 'authentic'. So basically you aren't coming here for atmosphere as much as you want delicious food. We will be coming here again with the kid next time to see if she might like it too.

This was my second visit to the restaurant. I like the interiors and the lighting. It's dark and soothing. The food is not authentic but has been altered for the American tastebuds. It is still one of the good restaurants in town that I would visit when I want decent Indian food. We wanted a booth and they arranged one for us. That was good! My only concern was that for dinner, the portions were not enough! We ordered the chili paneer but we got the chili shrimp which seems to be an expensive mistake! But the paneer made its way eventually by the time we were almost done with dinner! So much for appetizer. Will update after my next visit hopefully they have these worked on.

Pretty good Indian food. Not as good as the Yak & Yeti. I got the chicken vindaloo and asked for hot but it wasn't really very spicy. It did have good flavor and texture though, and made a good meal. I also got the garlic naan, which was a little overly buttered but still good. A good place to eat. I will probably return. Service was OK.

Yummy! I love their lunch buffet. Affordable and delicious, with tons of vegetarian options. Endless pakora! That I can dip in saag, too! What more could I ask for? Getting hungry just thinking about it. Check out the lunch buffet, for sure.

Best Indian in Boulder in my opinion. Been a regular for years and they have been pretty consistent. The bar annex they opened next door is nice if you want a faster dining experience. The korma, saag, biriyani and tandoor grill dishes are great.

Great Indian food. I almost always get it takeout. I'm always amazed that the food is so good, so close to home. I usually get the vindaloo. It's great. They don't mess around if you ask for it 'hot.'

Great food and comfortable atmosphere. Take out is delicious and quality not compromised. Kid-friendly. The management is great about offering suggestions for the new diners.

I am absolutely an Indian food snob, but this is one of my 2 goto restaurants whenever I am in town. Their bottomless chai warms the soul and their vegetable masala has a magical touch, plus the service is good.

After a quick search on Yelp for the top affordable places to eat in Boulder, my wife and I wound up here at Tandoori Grill. The service was crazy fast but not in a way that we felt rushed. The food was possibly the best Indian I've ever had, and the Cheese Naan. That my friends needs it's own review. The Cheese Naan... Dang. I "joked" about coming to Tandoori Grill again and ordering nothing but 4 servings of it with a side of the Korma Curry sauce. Cheesy carboliciousness! Mmmm. We most definitely will be back.

Very good Indian food, best in south Boulder. Takeout isn't super speedy but it's worth it. Their saag is great, so are veggie pakoras. Food runs on the spicy side. Medium is sometimes too hot for me.

My name is Marisa, and I am an Indian food addict. Whew, it feels good to get that off my chest. In all honesty, I could indulge in a good Indian lunch buffet and dine at an Indian restaurant for dinner every single day without tiring of the tantalizing, aromatic Eastern cuisine. When I discover a restaurant at which I would gladly partake in all these meals, I must share that discovery with the rest of the Indian food lovers in the world. Or, at least, in Colorado. Tandoori Grill was one of the last Indian restaurants in Boulder that I needed to check of my list. I finally made it there for dinner the other night and discovered what I was missing all this time. Their food selection contains something for everyone- whether you are paleo, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or someone who eats everything or hardly anything. I finally found my request for maximum spice honored- generally, waiters take one look at my pasty Americanness and assume that when I say "crank up the heat" I mean "mild at best." My vegetable curry, however, packed a punch that lingered long after the server took my empty plate. The service is quick and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended, if you couldn't tell.

One of my first pleasant experiences with Indian food. I would eat here everyday if I could. Their rice is amazing, the service is great, and the cheese naan is to die for!

2012 review #263: I came here a few years ago and just didn't think it was worth the hype. Figured I should give it one more shot before writing it off completely. Honestly I'll probably never come back here so I don't know if that makes it 3 stars or if it should be 2, but at the same time nothing was wrong really. Basically, all the sauces were bland; nothing was spicy or interesting, it was all just an even amount of bland. My first visit they gave me freshly made naan and I appreciated that. This time they brought 2 triangles of not freshly made naan that had been coated in butter to appear fresh, I guess? If you're not going to make the naan fresh, just put it in on the buffet and keep it warm. Lunch costs around $10.50 with tax. When I was there, both visits, there were 8 options of food. It sounds diverse but this includes appetizers and entrees and vegetarian and meat items. So, not very diverse after all and it seems to change a lot so some days will be a lot different than others. For less money you can get much fresher food made with more care at other Indian restaurants in Boulder.

This place is NOT traditional. Quality ingredients, interesting flavors...but lack of authenticity - so I will never return.

Really great food! In the past I've lived in Sunnyvale, CA which is where many silicon valley Indians settled, providing me with a great selection of restaurants. Tandoori Grill isn't bad at all! Not the best indian I've had, but much better than the Mexican I've had in Boulder so far. Even with low representation, we seem to be doing ok with pho and Ethiopian food around here. Anyway, back on topic. I'm a particular fan of curry dishes and have been happy with what I've ordered here. By the way, I can't remember if I've ordered "hot" yet, but my impression was that the spice scale isn't too ridiculous and you probably won't end up in the hospital if you order 'hot' - but you better mean it. The nann is good, I've had plain and the garlic - and unlike at least one other reviewer, it was hot and fresh. They do a good job at providing both eat-in and take-out service. Seems to be that they do a lot of take-out. One warning - pile on an appetizer, two entrees and some nann = a big bill. Right now it's making my mouth water and my credit card melt in my pocket. :)

My girlfriend has always picked up take out from this place, but I have never. One day she asked me to pick it up on my way home. I have been to so many different places immediately around it, but somehow never really paid attention to it. Once I walked in I felt I was in an authentic Indian restaraunt. We ordered the lamb samosas (which actually tasted like lamb), the garlic naan bread (super fragrant and delicious, as well as many other items I cannot remember how to spell ;) I did have to wait about 5 minutes to be attended to, but once I was the gentleman was extremely polite and very quick. I love naturally authentic places and this fits in the category.

This felt like the kind of place where everyone knew each other, but I still felt perfectly welcome. I can't say I mind being able to stuff myself on some excellent Indian food in an unassuming pub sipping a pint of really nice local beer. This place is where East deliciously meets West, and I left here full, happy, and just a bit inebriated. What more could I ask?

Every time I come to Boulder I eat here. I have tried a variety of dishes but migrate back to the standard.. The Chili Chicken Tikka is great. I like hot food and the medium usually suffices. Hotter than the hot version of vindaloo. Loads of chicken, jalapeño, onion and sauce. The spicy eggplant dish is a good addition. The Vindaloo is flavorful but not that spicy. The goat curry was good. All the dishes are good sized. The kulchas and naans are well cooked. I like the sweet one but usually end up with garlic. Nice chai. Service is attentive and a steady crowd eats here. Looks like a good take out business too.

I was a little hesitant when I first walked into this restaurant, yes it was pretty busy for 6pm on a Wednesday, but it was also one of only 4 restaurants in the area so I just assumed the people eating there simply had no other options. I love Indian food, so does my fiancé, and we have eaten Indian dishes all over the world. I have tried most of the Indian restaurants in boulder and although some of them have good saag or good vindaloo, I had never had a tikka masala that I truly loved as much as the dishes I had enjoyed as a child. Reading the description, the tikka masala dish was described as rich and creamy, which was a red flag to me as I have had many over creamy masalas that were dreadful. We decided to try it after our waitress told us it was the most popular dish there. We ordered a paneer tikka masala dish, garlic naan and a paneer karahi. I had never tried the karahi before and it was really good and a great contrast to the more mild masala. The naan was a little greasy but delicious, flavorful and had the perfect texture. The true highlight was the tikka masala, which was one of the best we had ever tasted anywhere in the world and definitely the best in boulder. It didn't taste too creamy or rich, it had a great consistency, was flavorful and incredible. This is definitely our new go to Indian restaurant and I'm so grateful we just happened to walk in!

I have always had a wonderful experience when dining at the Tandoori Grill restaurant. The staff are friendly and accommodating, with children and dietary constraints. The variety of the cuisine is fantastic. This is the best Indian food that I have had state side.

I went on a Sunday night, when there is no buffet. Good food. Good service. Large portions. Reasonably priced. I recommend the chicken tikka masala.

I forgot to mention how accommodating they are of special diets. I often order the lamb saag without dairy. Usually comes with it, but not a problem. Also, on some days of the week, they make gluten-free bread (I think it's poori). It is so nice to be able to have yummy bread to dip. I hate being "special" in the dietary region, so the less of a fuss it is for me, the better.

One review closer to being caught up. :) This was for a pick-up order. Tandoori Grill is nicely located on S Broadway, west of US36, on the SW corner of Broadway and Table Mesa. As such, it was a coin toss for me to bolt down 36, or go the "back way" down 120th and then go north on Broadway. There was no contest as the views down south of Boulder on that road are stunning. Good deal for people in Westminster/Broomfield/Superior like myself. I ordered vegetable pakora for myself, having become a recent fiend, and found them ok, but not crispy and hot like at Nepal Cuisine or Himalayas. I also ordered cheese naan, which, unlike Himalayas, actually had *some* detectable mild cheddar (?) in it - there wasn't really enough to tell, but at least you could see it in there. The menu says cheddar and mozzarella, I can believe that. Pretty soft and tear-apartable for munching...and soaking in the below sauce... I had the extremely delicious mango curry with lamb, and *that* stuff is a treat. It's made with mango puree and mango chutney, along with various Indian spices. It's a few dollars pricier than other curry dishes on the menu, but *so* worth it -- everyone should try it at least once! It goes perfectly with lamb (I feel vaguely sorry for the lambs, as that's what my 1st choice seems to be at Indian-esque places...sorry, I can't help it that you're tasty!!! O_O ), which is what I had. They didn't skimp on the lamb chunks either, there was plenty to be had. The steamed rice was fairly unremarkable but maybe it was long-grain...it was hard to tell. I had phoned in my order so was just there to pick it up; my server was ok but as noted in another review here, seemed to be in robot mode. There weren't any to-go menus to take with, the server said they had to order some more. Meh *shrug* That's what your website is for, I s'pose. They also make various chilis there out of meats, have tandoori items for perusal as well as biryani dishes, and between 15-20 vegetarian dinners that look pretty tasty. The decor was unremarkable and this was the only Indian/Pak/Nepal/Tibet place I'd been to that didn't have some kind of music laced throughout with that Indian drum (tabla? It sounds like a bongo drum) sound. I found I missed it...seemed more "westernized" and less "exotic/escapist" music than the other places I've been recently. Got some pics, too. Will probably be back to sample further, perhaps dining in this time, and also because it's pretty close distance-wise to me. Hopefully dining-in will wow me more than the take-out did -- it was tasty enough, but nothing stood out except the main dish.

Ordered takeout last night for dinner, there were 4 of us. For some reason the food seemed WAY overpriced, but upon further review, it was just a BIT overpriced. We had 85$ worth of food that gave us 4 lunches, and 1 leftover dinner. Very delicious food!!! I have spent time in India, and it is very similar to the food served in nicer places in Mumbai...definitely not village food =)

I previously declared that this was the best Indian in Boulder..well now that I have discovered the masala of Tiffins and the eggplant, dal soup, & naan at Curry N Kebab..I must re-examine this statement.

A couple of my roommates and I finally decided to try Tandoori Grill. The ambiance is pretty good and gives a fine dine sensation. We ordered Chicken korma , Paneer jal fregi,Mutter paneer, House wine, Mango juice with Garlic naan and onion Kulcha. The overall experience was pretty good. The paneer dishes were amazing and tasted to our expectations. We chose spicy level hot for the Jal Fregi and medium for Mutter Paneer. I ended up having the whole of Mutter paneer as I was really tasty although my friend had ordered it. Lucky for me, he like the Jal Fregi. The review about the chicken dish was that the chicken was properly cooked and was pretty tasty as well. Although a lot of reviews have been said about the garlic naan, I wasn't that impressed. Personally I found the one in Sherpas better. Apart from that, everything was very good. My friends desire to have mango juice was finally quenched. Service was good too. It does seem to bow towards the higher side in terms of expense. We ended up paying almost 20$ each. All in all, a good way to end the week with some good food and dining experience.

I seem to be at odds with the Yelp mentality about Indian food in Boulder. True, the restaurant space is nice, the service was friendly and fast, and the buffet provided both veggies and meatier options. And after grumbling about the lack of spice, I found my comeuppance in an unmarked bottle of red sauce that delivered a satisfying mule kick to my sinuses. But I thought the food was unremarkable and rather bland, and it was hard to be too enthusiastic about anything. The next time I'm craving Indian I'll have to make the trip down to Yak & Yeti instead.

I don't know what is it about boulder and Indian food. I still haven't found a place that serves authentic Indian food. Am I asking for too much? May be yes. But for the price we pay at the restaurants, I have a right to ask for the right kind of food. I don't like their over colored tandoori chicken. It doesn't even taste like tandoori. [ tandoori is used for any dish cooked on fire in clay ovens] I can understand that- because of the local palette they make the dishes low on heat, but what is Indian food without spice? Why doesn't the flavor of cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander, cumin, peppercorns and all other spices shine through the dishes? It could just be me -- But I am still looking for an Indian restaurant that serves good food. the three stars in this review are for dinner and not the buffet. The buffet gets a single star.

Oh, how I love this place! The curries are all super tasty (my favorite is the lamb saliboti or chicken masala), the chicken and lamb tandoori are both amazing. The rice is made with all kinds of spices and tastes super creamy. The dahl is perfect - super flavorful. They will also make your curries as spicy or not spicy as you like. Once I was there with a friend who can handle any level of heat in his food, and he left completely satisfied (the waiter said that they have the "Indian hot" option for those who prefer the extra spicy). This is by far my favorite place to go to for Indian food in the area.

We came here last week and tried to order the tandoori wings. They were out, and as a consolation prize our waiter brought us an order of tamarind shrimp, and HOLY SHIT THESE THINGS WERE GIANT. I'd never seen shrimp so huge in my life! You had to seriously, literally cut them with a knife into bite size pieces, like a steak. Each shrimp yielded at least 6 bite size pieces. And they all managed to be cooked thoroughly and coated with delicious, beet-red, finger-staining tamarind sauce. PLUS, we got them for the happy hour price of $3 since they were out of what we wanted. Amazing. Maybe they have a giant tank in the back full of freaky genetically engineered shrimp injected with shrimp growth hormone and fed steroids in their fish food. And even if that's the case, I'm not sure I'm complaining.

Lunch buffet is best in Boulder, the food is amazing, staff are awesome, especially the hostess and the dark haired woman that is usually there sunday mornings, both women are awesome and friendly, i feel very welcome. I usually get the buffet to go on sundays and am always satisfied. In the 10+ years i have been going here, not one disappointment.

THE BEST Indian food in Boulder. Their na'an bread is outta this world and their dishes are authentic and delicious. I usually get spicy Chicken Tiikka Masala and it is incredible. GO HERE.

Oh damn, a $10 lunch buffet. While they may not have a whole lot of choices what they do have is very filling and absolutely delicious - you also get a free basket of naan as well. My favorite dishes were their vegetable korma and saag, although the tamarind chutney tasted pretty good paired with their various dishes. I can definitely see myself coming back here again in the near future.

Best Indian food I've ever had! Even the water tasted rich and fresh. There are multiple Indian restaurants in most cities but not all of them get it right. Tandoori Grill surpassed my expectations. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala which was rich and creamy and spiced to my liking. My fiance had the Chicken Tikka which was well marinated and grilled perfectly. The Garlic Naan Bread was amazing. I only whished the bread was bigger and came in larger quantities. Overall this restaurant is a must try in the Boulder area. Great food, great atmosphere. I will be back next time I'm in Boulder.

Seeing a review for Tandoori sparked my memory; I realized I had been here for dinner with some friends a few months ago and had not updated my review. The vegetarian offerings and the salmon are excellent. I love their Saag Paneer here too. I miss the tablecloth days before the remodel. But you know, nostalgia is my middle name.

I used to come here when I lived in South Boulder when this restaurant first opened up. We would come here for a nice hearty lunch or for a hangover cure. I had not been back in awhile but decided to check it out today to see if it was still as I remembered it to be. Lunch buffet is a bit pricey-ten dollars for not many choices. Saag, tandoori chicken, lentils, pakora, chicken curry, and meatballs. I just don't get the meatball deal on Indian buffets. I do not think meatballs are truly an Indian dish, and they seem like the kind you would buy just up the walkway at King Soopers in the frozen food section, but the sauce on them is good. Their food is not as spicy as I would like for my tastes, but one star definitely goes for some of the best tamarind chutney in Colorado. Also, bravo for the fresh naan brought out after you sit down. Service was really lame. The guy working there seemed like it was a bother to seat me and told me to follow a woman around who was refilling people's water glasses and bussing tables. No thank you...so I waited and he finally sat me down. One of the waitresses was wearing ski pants which was annoying with every swish when she walked by. She also had part of her skin showing where her pants were supposed to meet her t-shirt, which to me, is really not appropriate in a restaurant no matter where you are. It is more efficient to get up and walk to pay at the register, then to wait for them to bring you the bill (I had to ask for it...was almost considering dining and dashing but I am not 12 anymore...) and then wait to bring you your credit card back. They have definitely done some work on the ambiance...,more decorations. If I still lived in the 'hood I am sure I would be going here more frequently...but still not a bad choice for a decent lunch outside of downtown Boulder.

I love this place! Never a bad meal. The tandoor Rib Eye....yes I said rib eye at an Indian restaurant is amazing. The owner Paul is great! Will make spiced to order. I have had the Masala, Korma, Saag (BEST SAAG EVER!!!!). Love the pakoras, which I am picky on since I like them in the fritter style with all of the vegitables ground up into one bite.I live in the Denver/Aurora area and this place is definitely worth the trip! There buffet is great when you get there at that time, but ordering off of the menu is best. YOU GOTTA TRY THIS PLACE!!!!!!

My husband loves this place, and I'll agree it's pretty good. He loves the thickness of their curries, and we both enjoy the level of spice (their medium is actually medium, not mild!). My favorite is their kofta kabob, which is very flavorful and comes with lots of delicious grilled peppers and onions!

This was my first time at Tandoori Grill. Stopped by with a colleague for lunch after a meeting. Ambiance is OK, not spectacular; I guess I'm just used to India's in Denver. The lunch buffet is extensive, with a number of dishes backed by Basmati rice.. There are also salads and a selection of chutney's to enhance your dishes. The Naan bread at the table was excellent. I had the Saag; not the Saag Paneer I am used to having. I missed the cheese cubes in a typical Saag Paneer. Next, I found beef? meatballs. I can't think of another Indian restaurant that carries beef dishes. Next, was the Daal, a slightly spicy chicken dish, and a couple of pieces of Tandoori Chicken. Again, I am used to having Tandoori chicken with a reddish, paprika finish; these had a brownish tint. Both chicken dishes were the highlight of my meal. Service was rather detached. During our time, no one offered to refill our Chai tea. And the wait for a check took some time as well. Overall, I found my experience merely "OK." The food above average. I will try this place again to compare experiences. For now, I think I prefer the surly waiters & top notch food at India's. As usual, I feel overstuffed after an Indian lunch fest.

The food here is really good. The lunch buffet gets four stars -- great food, all you can eat for around $11. Take out for dinner is a total rip-off, however, and gets two stars. A tiny little container of the same food they serve at lunch is $15. Probably the best sit down lunch you can get in South Boulder, but save your money and go elsewhere if you're getting takeout.

I love this restaurant. First, the flavors are spectacular. Just perfect. Rich and complex. Mild has just a hint of spicy, medium is freakin spicy and I've never tried hot. The curries are so scrumptious... my personal favorite is the chicken tikka masala, but I've tried many of the others, including most recently the korma and it was just as good. The saag paneer is amazing - perfect cheese, spot on flavor. And even the chai is great! Not too sweet (my biggest pet peeve with chai - and I've got those middle eastern roots and make my own), and they even offer you one free refill. The rice is perfectly cooked and spiced, and their naan breads have just a hint of char. Both the regular naan and garlic naan are great. I'd also like to point out that they are just about the most consistent restaurant I know in Boulder. I have never had anything but scrumptious dishes there over the years. They have a really good lunch buffet as well. The only minor issue is the location, which for me is on the other side of town, and it is located in a strip mall. But I've come to view it as part of its charm, and they do a pretty good job with the interior, so once you're inside it's a moot point anyhow. By far the best indian restaurant in Boulder, hands down.

Every time I go to Tandoori Grill, my belly is smiling and I am very full. So full, in fact, I have to take a walk to the park across the street in order to be able to drive home to Golden without falling asleep at the wheel. The first time I went, we ordered the chili paneer, saag paneer, kofta masala, and the vegetable briyani, along with a couple orders of naan bread. I have nothing bad to say about any of these dishes, as they were all wonderful and tasty! My favorite was the kofta masala, it was rich and flavorful and came in a huge portion. Last night when I went again I got the vegetable masala, and it was just as good as I remembered it being. My date got a lamb dish and said it was very good as well. Their wine selection leaves a bit to be desired, but they have daily happy hours with bottled beers that cost $2-3. I definitely recommend Tandoori Grill to anyone, vegetarian or otherwise!

I just went to Tandoori for the first time and have very little experience with Indian food. My food was great easily a five out of five for the money. I liked how you could decide how spicy you wanted your food. Although I'm not a vegetarian myself , I did notice they had extensive meat-free options. The other parts of my experience with the restaurant were less than ideal. First, I tried ordering takeout for almost an hour before giving up and just going over there. We were seated in a short amount of time and ordered appetizers right away. After waiting for nearly forty five minutes for our appetizers to come out, we said something to the waitress. I won't get into other details, but our service was generally not the best. Although we received sub-par service, it was a Saturday and we all make mistakes... This was only one experience and I would definitely give them a few more shots before I would say that they had poor service in general, especially because the food was so good!

Lunch buffet is a little pricy but delicious, or you can order off the menu. +1 for the delicious hot naan brought to your table -- minus one star for service which is at best casual and unconcerned, which can be a problem if you're eating here on your lunch hour!

The food isn't bad at all, better than most Indian places in Boulder (and there are a lot of them for such a small town). For my Indian brothers and sisters: standard Punjabi / N. Indian menu but more authentic than most. Better prices and faster service. Not so sweet like the other places in town. Isn't it weird that the Indian food in Boulder is so sweet? Also, make sure you tell them to spice it up a bit... they are definitely low on heat here.

A enjoyable place to have dinner. Good service and the food was tasty, too. I'd go back.

The 5 stars go to their chicken tikka massala (mild)- absolute stellar Indian food, especially for someone who is not on good terms with hot food (like me). I was so happy with it and having come all the way from the UK to find good Indian on this side of the pond I know I'll be back to this place soon. It was recommended by our waitress as the most popular dish and I can see why! We also had some onion and salantro (coriander) naan bread- a bit too much onion but still yummy. I only had the dish mentioned above. I know I would have it again(and again and again).

Although the place looks ordinary, the food is anything but. I've been to Tandoori many times and each time I discover a dish I like even more. My new favorite is the hot vindaloo with lamb. Another favorite of mine is the tandoori chicken (the thigh, not the breast). For lunch they have a buffet, but I've only been for dinner.

By far, the best Indian food restaurant in Boulder, and I've had them all (on multiple occasions). I highly recommend the tikka masala, but everything is good... if you have a favorite Indian dish, then try their version. I've been eating here for six years, and it's still one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder. Unfortunately, my significant other does not like Indian food, so I don't make it out here as much as I used to.

I remember having good times at this place. The food is great, the service is decent, and the prices are ok. One of the better places in Boulder to get your Indian-food hook-up, this place has ample parking and space. The ambiance is sort of eh....and I actually remember my chai being watered down a bit. The vegetarian selection is excellent, like with most Indian places. Nonetheless, I still suggest it...this place gets it right on enough levels to earn the illusive 4th star - a tough gig when it comes to the dog-eat-dog, tooth and nail, live and let die, bloody survivalism that is the restaurant market.

  • Matt N.

I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. Best Indian food in town and best buffet period. The only problem is that the food is so good I always eat too much, so I can't go as often as I'd like!

I had the vegatable somosa - Bharta Makhni (roasted eggplant ) and a naan. This place did a very good job. The somosa was large and yummy and hot all the way through which is a big plus. I asked for the Bharta Makhni to be medium which was more medium/hot which was great for me. All in all everything tasted very good. We were there Friday night and it was busy. We had to wait 20min to get in and the waiting area has limited seating.

This review is for takeout only. I was amazed the other day when we had take out because it was super expensive, and there was not much food. We ordered four dishes for four people to share, one lamb saag, one saag paneer, one aloo gobbi, a chicken vindaloo and three orders of naan (based on the recommendation of the lady on the phone). They gave us tons of rice, but skimped on everything else. The food came in tiny containers, and the meat dishes only had about three pieces of meat in them. For about $14 a plate we should have had leftovers. But alas it was all eaten, and even though we had two orders of saag, there was none left. We are small people and not big eaters either! There was little to no naan bread either, even though we had three orders. I think that they skimped on our order because they were packed that night, and the hostess said my food was running late because of the numerous large tables. Maybe eating in is a better deal, but there are much better places for the price, as the food is good, bu not as good as it gets. (and all of the other indian places, naan comes with your meal.)

Tandoori Grill serves up exactly what you'd expect from a formulaic Indian restaurant located next to the local grocery store. One deviation is the price which is suitably adjusted for Bouder ;) I shared a couple family style entrees (1 curry, 1 vindaloo) both "medium" hot. The vindaloo was very tasty and the heat was perfect. Next time I'll counterbalance the restaurant's indifferent service and awkward ambiance by going full-fledged strip mall and trying the lunch buffet.

  • Ali M.

Hands down THE BEST indian in the area. Complex flavors, unique dishes, toms of veggie options, and when you order spicy, beware! The garlic naan has tons of garlic. Everything is so good- they have all your standard staples, plus some delicious stuff that was new to me (chana saag- chickpeas, spinach, cabbage, onions, mmmmmm).

    (5)
  • Jacob F.

I thought that the lunch buffet was a little "iffy" (too few people so the food was not so fresh), but the meals are great. Try the lamb vindaloo - amazing! An evening meal here with a beer is relaxing and tasty.

  • L R.

I have had the lunch buffet before- delicious!- but last night a friend and I went and had dinner (no buffet available) and ordered off the menu. Outstanding! We ordered a yellow lentil dish with perfect consistency and seasoning (they offer you mild, medium or hot) and a shrimp with apricot and red wine dish (red sauce) that was dreamy. Service not great but they were packed. The food was so good I felt lucky just to have had a table- the wait was only about 5-10 minutes at 6:15 on a Saturday night.

Probably some of the best Indian food I've ever had and I'm pretty picky about heavy spices in my food. I've been to this restaurant countless times and I will keep going back. For an appetizer I would recommend the vegetable samosas, for an entree the palak paneer and for dessert the rice pudding. I'm not a big fan of buffets, but for the lunch hour I would actually recommend their buffet to try an array of their food choices. Great food. Good service. Pleasant atmosphere. Decent price. Enjoy!

I'm fairly new to the Indian food but I know when something tastes delicious. Ate cheese samosas and chicken vindaloo (spicy :) Awesome.

  • Rifaah A.

The food is good, the problem is the money, it's over priced. If you order stuff to go without the rice the price is the same so they give you shrimp with water in a small plastic container for $15. total rip-off. I hate the fact that you have to order the rice to complement the price, total crap.

Very good Indian food with a full bar in a pleasant room. What's not to like? Our server was extremely perfunctory and basically in robot mode, but I guess that's just the luck of the draw. Portions are vast, by the way. Order sparingly or carry a bunch of food home. Recommended.

Excellent north Indian food! Fabulous bhindi masala, vegetable korma and samosas. Service is okay. I do take out mostly, and the food is ready on time. Recommend this place if you are craving flavorful spicy food.

Hadn't eaten here for several years, so Tandoori's new menu was a surprise for us. It is great when a restaurant that was already very good re-does their menu and then it's even better. The inside layout is different too...more private booths, which we liked a lot. Many new choices of naan, with herbs, cheeses, etc. We tried the garlic naan which we loved. Buffet is only at lunch and not at dinner, for anyone who is a buffet hound. We're not. There's always so much more to a good Indian restaurant than the buffet items. All of the curries are now available either as is, with chicken, or paneer, or some other meat(s) (I don't remember the meat selection just now). I ordered an apricot curry with paneer -- medium spicy as the kind waiter recommended -- and it was perfect beyond description. My friend from India who came along with us to try the food was impressed with this curry as well. I liked that we were treated with respect and not hurried and could sit and relax and savor this meal. I could tell you everything that everyone ate, but not at this time. This is a unique restaurant, very much worth the trip, and reasonably priced too. There is a full bar, many creative martini selections; we had children with us and did not try bar drinks.

For what we paid for two vegetarian take-out orders tonight, my family would have preferred frozen Amy's Indian entrees. Our watery and bland meals make me think most of these 4- and 5-star reviewers have never had any better Indian food. Even our six year old said, "these people have something to learn about good Indian food." Don't bother.

Awesome Chai. Great food. Decent service. Caring people. Authentic. Pleasant atmosphere, too. Prices are good. I like it. I drive a half hour to get there, when I could drive 5 minutes to another Indian restaurant which is decent. It's just that this place is so much better. Worth going.

Great food, Friendly knowledgeable staff & Ownership. Chicken Tikka Masala & shrimp "stir fry" were Fantastic. Saag was maybe the best I've ever had. I can handle a lot of spice & garlic, but I have to say my stomach was a bit torn up all night. It was worth it though!

Delicious!! I went at lunch time but skipped the buffet - they're just not really my thing. I ordered chicken curry and naan and both we absolutely wonderful. Service was pretty quick and friendly. Reasonably priced and well worth it!

  • Brittany S.

I had the chicken tikka masala. I would recommend getting it "medium" even if you don't like your food very spicy; the mild was too bland. Even so, it was still very good. The naan was good as well. The samosas were alright, but not quite as good as others I've had. The atmosphere was nice. We opted for outdoor seating, which was very pleasant. The service was great. I'd definitely go back.

  • Yokes F.

This place is the bomb. So happy that this is close by. My Indian co-workers recommended this place and I'm so glad I finally went. I had their chili tandoori chicken, lamb karahi curry, garlic naan and the bhindi something.. the okra dish. Everything was delish but my favorite was the tandoori. I guess there's a good reason why they call themselves the Tandoori Grill. The chicken was tender, moist and full of flavor. SO GOOD! I can't wait to go back and try more dishes. But if you go, make sure you try the tandoori chicken.

This is hands down the best Indian restaurant in town. We have eaten here literally hundreds of times over time in. I don't think we have ever had so much as a bad dish, let alone a bad meal.

  • Vince D.

Probably the best way for me to describe the Tandoori Grill is serviceable. That is not at all a put-down. That means that Tandoori Grill has consistent quality of food and service. You know exactly what you're getting every time you go there. It's never blown me away, but it's never disappointed me either. I used to work across the street, and we'd come here often for lunch meetings or just to come here. They have a solid buffet with a nice selection of chutney. They don't have that many options, though. It doesn't compare to The Taj... but then again, nothing really does.

This place os wonderful! Love the samosa, naan & chicken masala. If you want heat you definitely have to ask for it as they are pretty comservative on spice (that's about the only thing conservative you'll find in this town!)

This is a really great Indian food restaurant. We go for lunch and dinner, so we've tried buffet and ordering from the menu. I love to get the chicken tikka and some masala sauce to go with it. The naan is fabulous! The price is a little bit high but you get quality food for that price so its not that big of a deal. The staff is always accommodating but never really too friendly. Don't get me wrong though, they are always nice. There is never a wait and there are always people in there. It is because the food rocks. To clarify on the outdoor seating... It was there before and now its not. Maybe for winter or something I don't know, but now it's doubling as a storage place.

Great authentic Indian food. The tandoori chicken is something everyone should try. Good service, because may be its family owned and run. I go there once every week. Must try if you like Indian food.

  • Marissa B.

Tandoori grill is delicious, and if you're there in person, the service is fantastic. However, their takeout, while still delicious, leaves something to be desired. Each of my last few orders has been blatantly wrong in some way - plain naan when I ordered garlic, or, like, today, no lamb in my lamb masala. (i received a large takeout container of just sauce. Fun!) I'm not sure what's going on back in their kitchen that's botching their takeout orders time and time again, but I sure wish it'd stop. The food is great, but if they don't get their act together, I'm going to start going somewhere else with my takeout business.

not bad at all. this is the first place that i had indian food, and it will always hold a stop in my memories for it. obviously it was good enough for me to open up my palette to this cuisine. when i ordered from here, i always went with the tikka masala and the korma, both very good.

  • Gluten-Free From A to Z.

FYI: Z is gluten-free (which means she can't eat wheat, rye, or barley) so our reviews are all from the gluten-free perspective. We care about how many gluten-free options the restaurant has and how helpful the staff is in dealing with our concerns. Gluten-Free Options: Almost the entire menu is naturally gluten-free! (Except the naan, obviously.) Total From A to Z: 5 Stars A's Review: * * * * * This is just good food. Everything was already gluten free (except the naan), even the breaded and fried items, which used chickpea (garbanzo bean) flour. The staff was well-educated and snapped into action right away when we asked about GF dishes. And ten dollars for a lunch buffet is pretty good considering how excellent this food tasted. Writing about it makes me want to go back right now and eat more! Z's Review: * * * * * We went to Tandoori Grill for their lunch buffet and it was delicious! Aside from the naan, which obviously I have to avoid, the whole buffet was gluten-free. There was even breaded fish and veggies that I could eat because they had been breaded with chick pea flour. The staff was really helpful and knowledgeable when we asked about the contents of the buffet - they even went back to the kitchen to double check that it was, in fact, chick pea flour on the breading. Obviously people with extreme gluten sensitivities would want to be careful about cross-contamination when eating from a buffet, and clearly you'd have to check with the staff every time, as I'm certain the contents of the buffet change. (If you were really concerned, you could always order from the menu). But aside from those small concerns, the lunch buffet at Tandoori Grill was delicious and naturally gluten-free! I will definately be visiting again soon!

I am McLovin for Tandoori Grill. This restaurant does everything right... the naans with just the right char, the curries, the paneer. Food has always been good here, but about 2 or 3 months ago it jumped up a whole 'nother notch with the flavors even clearer and more pronounced. New chef? Same chef with a new 'tude? Whatever, we're happy and our bellies are ready to dance for this wonderful food. Lunch buffet is great and dinners even better. Service is not exactly warm but plenty attentive and competent and quite speedy. Only one suggestion... I wish their wine list included a really good German Riesling such as Dr. Loosen. OMG I think I would swoon.

I love Tandoori Grill! I always order the chicken tikka kabob and it is xceptional, as is the chutney and raita. I love the atmosphere and the bites I steal off my husband's plate are equally delicious. It's always a treat.

Best Indian food in Boulder. The lunch buffet is a great deal, and the dinner menu is scrumptious. If you want good Indian food in Boulder and you don't mind driving a bit, this is the place to go. Nice interior, plenty of space, good service, great food. Location is not excellent but we go there for the food. If you're in the Table Mesa Mall, this is a great pit stop.

While I don't get out of Boulder for meals all that often, there was a time I used to visit Denver more frequently (biting my lip here so as not to offend). So I tried quite a number of Indian restaurants there as well (tried one in LoDo just recently too, but it was vastly overrated). And you know, Tandoori is still my pick of all the Indian joints I've been to in this state. When they're on their A-game, it's some of the most aromatic, flavorful, and just plain delicious food I've had (it's probably my favorite cuisine, if forced to choose). And while they do have an off night here or there when things are less flavorful than usual, that's not very often. As soon as you open the door, your nostrils are happily assaulted with the heady aromas of cardamom, coriander, cumin, and all those other drool-inducing spices. I always liked visiting my Indian friends' homes in college, because that smell so thoroughly permeates the kitchen and surrounding rooms. Intoxicating almost. Let's start with appetizers...how about dal soup? Chanadal cooked just right (not mushy), bright spices, nice punch of cilantro. I've had examples that were a busy mess of random ingredients, but this is a simple, focused, and very delightful rendition. Or perhaps some finger food like the onion bhaji? Best I've ever had...the coating is superb in both texture and flavor, and is the make-or-break aspect to this appy. I don't even really like onion rings (similar concept but so much less satisfying!), but these things are irresistable. On to the main courses. Saag is one of my favorites, and here's a huge irony for you...I loathe broccoli, and strongly dislike cauliflower. Their odors are extremely offensive to my nostrils for some reason. Kryptonite for me. Tandoori's saag is the best I've ever had (from lamb and chicken saag to channa and aloo saag), and yet the menu claims it's made not only with spinach but broccoli and cauliflower as well. How can this be?! I don't know, but it doesn't stop me from ordering it virtually every time I go. So many herbs and spices that all seem to work together, creamy but not too much so, just unbelievably delicious. But if saag's not your thing, there's much more...decadently rich creamy-nutty korma, fiery vinadaloo, etc. Just about everything they do, they do really well. Pleasant waitstaff, generally, though rarely chatty (just how I like it, to be honest..."can't talk, eating."). Rarely is there a wait for a table (probably only had to wait once or twice in all the times I've gone). And as far as prices go, they're moderate for the genre; not cheap and not overpriced. VERY fair given the quality. They could charge 50% more and I'd still go. Oh, there is a small outdoor patio (to the left of the entrance as you go in), but there's not much to look at (on the east side of the building, so enjoy the parking lot views) and you don't get to bask in the aromas inside. Perfection? No, perhaps I will not go that far, but I'm a huge complainer and I never seem to find anything to complain about here. Been coming here for 5 or 6 years and it's always this good. Hope it stays that way. So yes, five stars without reservation.

Best North Indian food I've had in Boulder. Bengan Bartha (my favorite) was just right - subtle, complex, not too sweet. Vindaloo is solid but not special. Our naan wasn't too fresh, and slightly overcooked. The chai is excellent. Not a great location in the bottom of a shopping center looking out on a parking lot...but come for the food.

This has the best Indian food in Boulder. Great for our chicken masala loving child. Small outdoor patio, although you are looking at the parking lot and South Broadway.
