Never to return. The service was rushed and unfriendly. They cleared plates as people were done instead of waiting until entire table was finished and they tried three times to clear one plate. Really? Let the person finish the last bite instead of asking if he wants the last bite? Owner walks around like a primadonna only talking to customers she knows. Not a great way to make new customers. It seems the staff follow her lead and are just as snobby. Not one smile was given. Entrees were minute and Bland. Wine pours don't even hit the predetermined line on the glass. So lacking in warmth to anyone that is not a regular. It soon may be gone just as the many restaurants that were there previously. People want to go back to places they are made to feel welcome. This review given by a former 15 year veteran from a fine dining restaurant owned by a renowned chef in another city.

A much needed neighborhood style restaurant for downtown Boulder. It's off the beaten path and has the ambiance of a small European eatery. The menu is small and tight with every dish holding it's own weight. We've been in numerous times now and are really impressed with the owner, staff, wine selection and especially the food. Make sure you arrive in time for the Happy Hour Cocchi spritz and a must try are the Gluten Free Chickpea panelle app and any of the house made pasta's.

We love this place! Food is excellent. Wine amazing and service great! Thanks Jess!! Get the fried summer squash with honey and Parmesan and the buratta with kale. Yum!

What a find! I had a great time at this new restaurant and wine bar last week when I was visiting Boulder. I wish we had a place like this back in my town. The wines by the glass were excellent, you can tell that they put a lot if thought into each selection. The quality was way above what I expected for the reasonable prices. I hadn't planned in staying for dinner, but the nice atmosphere and super friendly staff changed my mind. The food also exceeded my expectations and I will certainly go there again on my next trip.

An exciting new wine bar and restaurant has come to town. The wine selection as well as the food is outstanding. The dishes are original and tasty. You can order snacks, small plates or larges platters to share. It has a comfortable relaxed feel with no pretentiousness . The prices are very affordable. My new favorite restaurant in Boulder.

Um... wow. Between meetings today I asked my soon to be gent for all time what to choose for a dinner on our "date night" before a movie. He told me to pick, which made my mind overload w options, for he's pretty set in his restaurant ways and I'm always looking for the new. I automatically hop on Yelp looking for something to ignite some inspiration, but knew I was craving some comfort food... Sauces, pasta, bread etc... I yelp search Italian and PMG pops right up on the list (although it isn't traditional Italian so don't stop here... It's a pretty much undefinable mix and meld of many things and constantly changing). I see more 5 star reviews for this place than I've ever seen, and the place never crossed my radar. I had to go. When you sit down and receive the menu, it doesn't look like anything out of the norm. We decide to start with small plates while deciding on wine (incredible list that changes often) in case we've made a mistake venturing out (it's happens!), but our server, Kathryn (Catherine? Katherine?), recommends things and explains things...gently guides us. We go with the burrata, peppers, and chickpea panelle. Oh my goodness. All blew our minds. When the appetizers arrive, we meet the GM Joe V (Jovee?), and get a sense of the vibe of the place. Between him and Kathryn, we are sold on the service. The small plates proved so delectable we needed more. The tagliatelle ragu----what just happened to my face? Seasoned perfectly. Naturally, we needed more... Beef shank cooked for HOURS. I could get super in depth about all the flavors, but the reality is that there is no set menu. I don't want to get anyone attached to any one item. All I can say is GO TO THERE. Or don't... I don't need it getting too crowded. Service, food, wine...paired with a charismatic, dedicated, knowledgeable staff and I'm sold. A true contender for the best food/culinary experience in Boulder.

This place is out of control good. One course after the next, we couldn't believe how well Chef Sal would put a twist on traditional dishes and serve cooked to perfection. My Wife and I intentionally ordered something different from each of the courses to try as much as possible. Joe V (the GM) was there to help us pair a wine, crack us up and a make us feel at home. We'll certainly be back.

Went for happy hour with a friend. I'm so happy to find a restaurant that's wine focused. There's just not enough in Boulder. After sampling the happy hour wine friend wasn't too pleased so the server brought our several wines for her to try. That we thought was really an added bonus. The snack menu was delicious. Food is simple but flavorful. We especially enjoyed the burrata and farro and the tagliatelle with bolognese. I do wish they had events. I used to go to a wine bar (back in Los Angeles) that didn't serve food, but had tasting events that featured certain wines or regions.

During the holiday season this place has been busy. We went on a Friday night and fortunately snagged a spot at the bar. This was a good thing since it turned out that I would have a lot of questions about the menu that night. The wine by the glass options are limited but there's a nice variety. If you're willing to commit to a full bottle, the selection is extensive. We wanted to try several so we took the by the glass route and enjoyed most of our selections. Although the grappa on the dessert menu was really potent - don't breathe in while you're sticking your nose in the glass :) The dinner menu consisted of a variety of smaller plates and a few entrees. We chose several small plates to share: Warm kale salad with anchovy dressing - this was really good, but on the salty side for me. Chickpea panelle - this was a mashed up chickpea mixture fried and topped with honey and creamy creme fraiche/yogurt type topping. Delicious! Cheese of the day - goat cheese balls rolled in smoked paprika or fennel. These were tasty with the fresh biscuits, I wish we'd had two biscuits instead of one. Prosciutto with delicata squash - this was the surprise dish for us. The prosciutto went amazingly well with the delicata squash, apple compote, and creme fraiche. We were really pleased with all of our dishes, the service by our bartender, and the warm interior. I'm sure we will add this to our regular Boulder rotation.

Stopped here for a glass of wine and snack before our dinner reservation down the street. Almost cancelled the reservation and stayed there. The owner stopped by our table a few times to check on us, and the servers were very good. Definitely worth taking a few steps off the mall. Definitely something different that Boulder needed.

Great food and service! We went as a group of 6 and tried everything on the menu. Unique menu with a variety of flavors. It was unanimous from the group that the food and service was amazing.

We were visiting from Austin and just stopped in based on the high rating. Wow this place is great. We had four great appetizers and a main meal. Everything was great and the staff was awesome.

This is one of the best culinary experiences I've had in Colorado. I am going to save the wine review for a moment and just talk about food. I enjoyed two remarkable dishes (and only two total so far...until my next visit). It is worth going to PMG JUST FOR STEAK TARTARE. It is extraordinary. Perfecty seasoned and beautiful beef. Flavorful to the last bite. Run, don't walk. This is a show-stopper. Also enjoyed jumbo shrimp over persimmons and fennel. A fabulous composite dish. Owner Emily Gold has years of experience gathering her wine knowledge in Europe. She delivers this at PMG with charm, humility and great instincts. This place is a marvelous addition to my life in Boulder. It's just steps off Pearl Street. Do not miss this place.

PMG is excellent every time I go. I love their small menu with fresh local fare, the wine list and of course the service. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and enjoy a special dining experience. It's fun to have a small, cozy restaurant that feels like you are in someones home.

Fantastic rustic Italian food. I had an amazing pork coppa that was marbled, cured then grilled. Not your typical lean (boring) chop. Go here.

We shared small plates with a few friends and found that overall the food was good and reasonably priced. The fried squash strips were a hit, the lamb meatballs very good (but the accompanying polenta a little bland and runny), the chickpea panelle was interesting, the pate tasty, but too pink for me, I just could not eat it. Desserts were fine, peach cobbler was good, chocolate flourless cake could have been more strong in chocolate taste. Nice wine selection, friendly service and atmosphere.

Excellent food (except the baby octopus which was over fired n oily), service and ambience... 4 stars for that. That said, they would benefit from a wider selection of wines since they set an expectation by calling them selves a wine bar. 2 red offerings by the glass just don't cut it. We had : lydia's pate, procuitto and fig, baby octopus :-/, crispy chicken, beignets, choco caramel tart!!!! And a bottle of California Banshee Mordecai. Bottom line : if we go back it'll be for the food and not the wine.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
