back in the olden days when old chicago was a family-owned, one location, local feeling joint, it was the place to be. i remember pops taking me and my brother here when there was a bronco game - he would have a beer and we would get kids-type meals. there were inevitable other families and kids we knew, so we would all run around and piss off the staff while they talked about mike shanahan and spread offense. it was delightful. apparently, they thought they could sell out, get a bunch of other locations and package that feeling. screw them. they ended up plasticizing everything about this place, their food blows, their service is snotty, it's all about turnover, and it's stupidly priced. lame.

Old Chicago is pretty much just another chain pizza place, though better than Pizza Hut (or similar). The only food I've ever liked there is the pizza, which is pretty decent. I guess that makes sense. The sandwiches & salads leave a lot to be desired. They have a HUGE selection of beer, which is cool. They're also open pretty late, so it's a great place to go after a night staff meeting (like I had tonight). Overall, not the best place in the world (there are much better places for food) but a nice enough place to blow off some steam with coworkers after a long day.

The Veggie 7 is amazing, mostly just because they include green chiles which make everything better. This location on the Pearl Street Mall, and somehow the pizza always tastes better here than at the Longmont location. Maybe I just taste character. Anyway, it's really good. I've always wondered if it's the first in this local mini chain.

Had an awesome time here drinking and eating while catching a the UConn/Syracuse game on Feb 11th. This place was crowded but I was able to get a bar seat after waiting about 3 minutes. I had the chicken parmesan along with a Paulaner Hefeweizen (my favorite Hefeweizen). I met a few locals (University of Colorado students) and chatted basketball after eating dinner. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the beers and the selection of beers were incredible.

day 21 finally made it to boulder in one piece this is a chain. its like the only late night eat in a lot of suburban towns. they got a lot of beer and its supposed to be italian food. but its really bad. the only thing worth while is their calzones. just like i remember the one in oregon, this one is slow service, bad food, but lots of people. good old oc. they got a bar area and game room. it looks like applebee's but not as tasty believe it or not haha and its italian, chicago italian. i hope when i go to real chicago, i never see this place ever!

I know that it is a chain restaurant on pearl street but it has some things going for it. It serves food until 2am, has a huge beer selection, has a sweet porch out front. i like going to Old chicago fairly late and ordering a beer, then sharing a stuffed pizza (they are huge and will kill you if you have it more then once a month) and one of there big hot chocolate chip cookies with whoever i am there with. I suggest ordering all three simultaneously, it is a trio that made in heaven.

Good place to take the family while walking Pearl Street.

If you are in Boulder and you need more than 100 beers to choose from, this is the place to go. But, if you are inclined to drink your beer one at a time and you want good food and decent service, there are dozens of alternatives in Boulder that are far better than Old Chicago. That's probably the reason why most of the people that go to Old Chicago are tourists; folks that actually live in Boulder know that the food is marginal and the service is spotty. We went today at the insistence of a relative who has one of those punch cards that entitles you to get your name on the wall if you drink all 110 of Old Chicago's beers, so we had lunch there. The salads were fair and actually pretty large. But when the order of 20 chicken wings arrived, they were all legs. Now, some people prefer chicken legs and some people prefer chicken wings. That's why God gave chickens two of each. Typically, when you order chicken wings at a place, you get about half and half. At Old Chicago, they give you 100% chicken legs, even though the menu calls them "Chicken Wings." But the worst part was that the wings-that-were-really-legs were horribly under-cooked (you know, when they're all pink and veiny). When we told our server, she just shrugged and acted as if we were annoying her (don't worry, we didn't annoy her with a tip). A few minutes later, the manager came over and absolutely interrogated us. He was very hostile and very aggressive, as if the $10 cost of the legs-that-they-called-wings was coming out of his pocket personally. I think that he would have been nicer to us if we had just peed on the table. We escaped soon afterwards and we will never return. BTW, if you have one of those 110-beer punch cards, you really should get a life.

It's difficult to like anything about Old Chicago. I don't like their beer selection and serving method, I don't like their food, and I don't like the atmosphere. I've nothing against the staff as a whole, but have had a few perplexing experiences in that department as well (stood around waiting to be seated while the hostess was casually chatting with workmates, and had a bartender take a surly [and sadly misguided] attitude towards me about their frosted glasses). I'll focus on the main thing they seem to brag about, the beer. A hundred or so beers from around the world (or however they state it in their advertisements)...but only the most frustratingly pedestrian stuff from the countries represented, often in terrible condition (served ice cold in frosted glasses and many of their bottled offerings are old and oxidized). Take Belgium for instance, the arguable capitol of the beer world...must be something interesting from there, right? Lindeman's fruit lambic? Stella Artois (a bland fizzy yellow lager, no less...yes, Belgium makes that dreck too)? Chimay? That's just insulting. Some of the most dull and common choices from a country practically drowning in excellent beers. While there certainly was a time that Chimay was good stuff, it's being pumped out at high volumes these days (the monks no longer perform the bottling), and corners have seemingly been cut if I'm to judge from its current lackluster, crude character. Ok, fine, how about Germany, masters of lager? Beck's? St. Pauli (made by Beck's)? Cripes, they might as well just serve Rolling Rock, Sam Adams, and Coors, because this list is *only* a facade for the uninitiated. It's like going to Epcot Center and seeing the beers from "around the world" and only finding this same industrial megabrewed garbage that's not only unpleasant to drink, but can be found virtually anywhere. If you're going to flaunt a worldly beer list, have the balls to put some good stuff on it. Even budding beer hunters see right through this, so I'm certain a fair share of non-geeky customers do too. Sure, they may have an American micro or two that's reasonably interesting, but here's the next big gripe about Old Chicago's policies...they serve everything at a temperature close to 32 degrees Fahrenheit in a frosted glass. Thus it's rendered completely odorless and flavorless for the next 45 minutes. American beer culture, as rapidly growing and exciting as it is, is still being held back by places like this. Ordinary folks think that ice cold is good (look at Coors' recent ads), but that's only appropriate for beers *like* Budweiser, which most people will agree smells pretty awful as it warms up. That's a big hint, folks. You can't smell much of anything when it's ice cold, and the big breweries know their products don't have very appealing aromas (such as cooked corn, metal shavings, and detergent). But "real", craft-brewed beers...yes, we *do* want to smell them! Serve them no colder than 45 degrees and maybe we can actually enjoy our beers' aromas before they go flat, eh? And then there's the tacky chain-restaurant ambiance (wheeee, Applebee's!) and the dreadful food. I've eaten lunch or dinner maybe 5-10 times total at three different locations, and that's the end. It was never good at any of them, not even the pizza. The beer situation alone is enough to keep me away, and thankfully they don't have any other draw. Maybe they'll fix the problems someday, but they seem to be popular enough so probably not. Clearly picky curmudgeons like me are in the minority.

I was really bummed to find out that they no longer had Jambalaya Pizza on their menu. Why why why? Old Chicago folks if you are listening, this was the best best pizza ever- andouille sausage, shrimp, and other jambalaya ingredients. Why would replace a bestseller? If it aint broken, don't fix it.

Went in for a late lunch with my gf. Food was "ok". I had wings which weren't at all special. What really made the experience though was our server Adam. He was very attentive, made a good guest connection with us, and was very informative.

As much as I love old Chicago I was extremely disappointed with the service here. The food was alright, but it took John, our server 11 minutes to greet our table (we timed it) meanwhile he was bussing tables and counting his tips- we didn't even have water. As a former (experienced) server I know the rule is water on the table and greeted within the first minute that the table settles. There are two occupied tables in his 5 or 6 table section including us. Not busy at all. Timing it again, it took another 15 minutes to receive water and our beverages which tasted like they only had a few drops of alcohol in them at all. Completely watered down. So we kept timing it. He brought another table their food before we even got water. Then another 17 minutes passed before we got our food. Keep in mind that we ordered everything -drinks and all- at the same time- and we ordered a sandwich and appetizer. Food is average and service sucks.

Very disappointed in this Old C's. They were VERY rude. We had a bigger group and needed to sit on the patio because we had a dog. When we went in, there was plenty of space but they told us that we'd have to wait 30 min because their kitchen was under staffed. We put our name down and were only second on the list. Over half an hour later we went to see how the table was going because they hadn't texted/called us. They had obviously sat several other tables with big groups on the patio while we were patiently waiting.

Old C's at the end of the Pearl Street mall is an institution by now. I used to find refuge here from the trustafarians panhandling on the mall fifteen years ago, and it's still every bit the breath of fresh air in a beautiful, eclectic, but wildly pretentious town. The pizza is solid and made with good ingredients (perhaps not the best, but very good nonetheless), the appetizers are good but not life-changing. It's THE BAR that is fantastic, and it is fantastic because of the people that run it and tend bar in it. They always have a great selection of craft ales from across this beautiful state, the conversation is lively and wide-ranging, the clientele are varied and very pleasant, and it's just a great place to while away the hours while pointedly NOT shopping for synthetic Alpaca fur hammocks or faux neo-native fetish art.

Food is great service is not. It seemed like our server disappeared the manager ended up finding my burger and brought it out but never saw the server again. Waited 30 min for a burger on s dead Tuesday night is a little ridiculous. But I did enjoy the burger.

Very bad service at 2 pm in a weekday. Waiter took 15 minutes to appear then another 15 to bring drinks. Should have left. Food would have been ok if it had not been barely warm.

Visited this food chain while spending a few hours in Boulder. It was absolutely delicious. I recommend the hearty Beer-Brat Mac & Cheese, and my wife recommends the Pizza with mouth-watering sweet marinara.

We sat down and it took 11 minutes to be greeted by our server, John. He was busy cleaning tables and counting money before greeting us. It then took 15 more minutes to get water. Meanwhile he was delivering food to another table instead of bringing water. We also ordered some alcohol drinks which came with the water. But these drinks tasted like there was absolutely no alcohol in them at all! I ordered a Long Island and it was just sour mix with a splash of coke/Pepsi. Good was good as usual. Very very disappointed with my visit. Won't be coming back ever again.

The service here is awful. Our waitress, (a tall and skinny blonde) was the WORST!! She never offered me a refill, only my younger brother. Then we were done with our food for 10 minutes and she kept walking by, no service at all. I finally stacked my plates and bowls and what happened...she walked by us again!! Come on, it doesn't take a scientist to see that we are done eating. Oh, then as she brings us the bill, "would you like any refills?". Oh yes, now I would...just to wash down all of the food I have already eaten.

I want to like this place but every time we go there, there is always something wrong. Last time my husband and I ordered wings, it said on the menu that the order comes with 10 wings but we got 9 wings plus it barely had buffalo sauce on it. Maybe the waiter got hungry so he ate one before it got to us? ( lol, just joking).

Forget it! You have better choices!!! Candidly food was quite decent but the service was poor, to be polite. Had lunch with the family on a Sunday afternoon when there were more staff than patrons. The meal, consisting of two salads, a club sandwich, burger and two kids meals, took about 40 minutes to get. After 30 minutes we inquired as to the status of our meals. 10 minutes later the food was served cold. After complaining we were served hot food in about 5 minutes. Why did the original meal take 40 minutes and a replacement meal 5? The meal was comped but I would have greatly preferred getting what we ordered in a reasonable amount of time and hot! Why return when other establishments provide equally good tasting food, in equally decent environments, with wait staff and management attentive to the customers expectations?

Fish and chips were well prepared. Seriously those fries were cooked just right. My sister's 8" pizza was good minus the price. For $12, it should at least be 12". Got seated right away. The only problem I had was our server John R. Took him quite a while to greet us, get our drink order, and check us out. Also, rarely checked up on us except for when our food came out, but we hardly got to taste our food to give our honest opinions. Didn't even bother to ask me for another drink or refill our waters. Gave adequate tip but service sucked!

This was exactly what I wanted, an excellent pizza and an excellent beer. I think the pizza was a classic Chicago deep; very good overall, but especially liked the roasted garlic. The waiter recommended a Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro, and it was perfect. A good end to the day.

My boyfriend and I frequent this Old Chicago's because of the location, the unbeatable late night Happy Hour prices (not to mention the delicious pizzas that are only $2 each!!) and of course , the friendly staff. Being new to Boulder, There aren't many familiar faces, but I've come to enjoy the conversations and the outstanding service provided by the staff here. The female bartender really recognizes the importance of speed of service (while smiling!) and makes sure our drinks are never empty. Our server, the darker gentleman, seems to be one step ahead in taking care of us! The attention he gives us really makes me feel at home and valued as a customer, which seems to be a lost art these days! From saying hi when we walk in the door, to promptly and accurately bringing out our food and drinks, to taking time out of his day to answer all of the annoying questions that we "newbies" have about Boulder. He knows the importance of what it means to provide excellent service. It's safe to say that I found a cool spot where I can enjoy a great pizza, service that is second to none, and feel that sense of community, or belonging that you tend to lack when moving to a new place. You all have my vote! Cheers!

Read the reviews and was apprehensive but checked it out. For the flagship old c it is pretty unkempt. Got our order wrong and then, when I requested basil (it was supposed to come on the pizza) she never brought it out until our box for our pizza.... Lol. Pizza came out fine, not a terrible, not a great experience.

One of the few places you can get food at 11:30 PM, and it's both good and affordable! $2 late night menu has awesome pepperoni rolls, 1-topping pizzas, mozzarella sticks, GREAT buffalo wings, and a ridiculously good jalapeño cheese pretzel. Great service, too!

  • Rebecca L.

Worse place. Waited over 45 minutes for 2 salads and burger and chicken fingers and pasta for kids. When food came out -(besides salads) all food was cold and soggy. Clearly had been sitting there for a while. Restaurant was empty. No need or reason for food to take so long. Service was absolutely disgraceful from server to manager.

  • Jason S.

I wish I could leave zero stars based on my experience, but I'll give 2 stars because the food is pretty solid here. My wife and I worked in the restaurant industry for years... And It's virtually impossible for me to leave less than 20%... Yet I have never been more offended by a waiter. His approach was "Hey guys, have you been smoking or drinking tonight?" And proceeded to ignore us the entire time we were at the restaurant. The manager, Jackie, was nice enough to offer a $20 comp, which we refused, was little consolation for the behavior of our waiter. He never gave his name, and I only know that he mentioned he was Israeli. He is a poor representation of his countrymen and I hope Old Chicago will be more careful with their hiring in the future.

Not satisfied with this visit. We were limited in our options of places to eat because we had a dog, and we were thankful we could bring her on the back patio. But the experience went downhill from there. Waiter forgot our drinks, didn't bring out any of the condiments we asked for, said we could add marinara but didn't add it to the pizza. Two of our friends ordered burgers, each medium. One came out underdone and the other turned out well-done/burnt. The wait for our food was forever. The one other table outside complained to the manager about their food and service. Reordered the food, and their second order came out cold. Any time we reminded our waiter of something he forgot, he refused to apologize. WILL NOT RETURN.

Being the flagship and original old c's restaurant I except more from the staff. We were sat ourselves in the bar for the huskers game because their known for playing nebraska games. Our waiter didn't know his boundaries coming over every 2 minutes, and didn't appreciate him selling the menu way too much. The bartenders seemed to want everyone in the room to know about their personal lives shouting over the whole room to each " hey let's get sushi tonight" " hey we have next 3 days off lets hang out" hey this and that and blah blah blah" I get being friendly with customers but I just wanted to hear the game. Which they tried to switch in the first. Only reason they get 2 star is the food is always good and cheap beer but I'll be finding another place to watch the huskers. Step up staff step up.

Great fattening deep-dish pizza!! One piece of this pie can fill you up but it's hard to stop eating it. Even more difficult when consuming one of their numerous draft beers. I'll be back!!

So I get a little anxious taking my 2 y/o into any restaurant. But when I came here with a friend for lunch I was so pleased with the service. Our waiter was awesome and took care of us and was wonderful with my son. He made sure he was happy and helped out quit a bit. The food was good and quick. My only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the manager was all over every customer. I just happen to be looking around the restaurant and he came flying up on me and was lie do need anything, do you need help, let me help you. I was a little taken back by this. But overall I had a great time.

First time yelper here. My family of 5 visited a couple of weeks ago and it was so disappointing. The waiter was a gem but food came out cold and we waited over an hour. People who sat down 30 mins after us had their food before us.The manager wasn't very kind and was reluctant to make it right. She did end up discounting our bill. We won't go to old chicago ever again.

Due to the scathing Yelp reviews, my husband and I came here and just ordered the small plates. We sat outside on a beautiful day with a good pint of beer and really enjoyed our Americanized tapas! If we were in town and craved a snack and a brew we'd definitely frequent Old Chicago again.

Can't complain the pizza is really good! I'd say one of the few good places for kids on pearl street. Love the big windows. one of the down falls is it is a chain and not unique to Boulder, but again great for kids!

If there was an option for less stars I would give it. Just left this establishment and let me tell you it was worse experience I have ever been through. Took 15 mins to find a seat. Took half hour to get a waitress. Waitress got our order of just drinks mind you. Took another half hour to get beers we ordered. The table next to us was left for at least half hour uncleaned. Left over food left over flies flying everywhere. I mean bad. Waitress and waiters walking by no clue. We were so hungry we decided to actually leave once we got our beers after it took that long. Waitress gave me back my tab and then when I went to close out realized she didn't give me back my card. I kept having to ask people who took my card. Finally someone said they found my card and that my waitress lost it on the floor. Yea right! Calling Bank of America to make sure she didn't add any charges.

Between the one in Downtown Denver and This one I love it. I was greeted immiedately and seated. My Server came around quick. I ordered the Flight of Craft Beer which is what I usually get. My Appetizer was the Sampler Platter a Little Pricey but worth it. Luckily I had a friend to split it with. Mozzarella stix have grown on me, and these were delicious and fried golden. I could of ate the Honey BBQ wings just with the sauce only on a IV in my arm. And you cant go wrong with an Artichoke Dip. My Friend ordered the 3 cheese tomato and pepperoni pizza. Im not a fan of Artisan crust or style pizzas but it looked so good I stole a slice. And It was on point. Right Hint of Olive Oil. The cheeses worked well together and the pepperonis had some spice to them. Maybe a hint of Oregano. I had the Grilled Sirloin and Shrimp Platter. To me after all we consumed My Eyes were bigger than my mouth. The Steak was Medium Well with a little pink on the inside. So They Get 5 stars for that. And it was moist and flavorful, Who needs Steak Sauce when you have Garlic Butter. And the Shrimp tasted like they jumped out the ocean and landed on my plate minutes later. Sorry all but No Dessert Review as I was busting at the seams like a Welded Steel Plate. Til Next Time.

We went in about 2:30pm Saturday afternoon. The host told us that the kitchen was still backed up from lunch and would be at least 45 minutes before they could get out any food. There were several empty tables inside and outside. We left your names but walked down the street and found a place with no wait. I think I'll call Food Network and have them on Mystery Diners.

No complaints - it was pub fare with tons of TV's. Not generally my type of dining spot, but I wanted easy and fast and they weren't crowded. The Broncos and Eagles game had just started .... it filled up as we sat there. Our waitress, Sasha, was the sweetest thing ever and was open to splitting the pasta for my girls. I think Sasha really made this a great experience with her delightful smile and gracious ways. I ordered the Santa Fe Panini. It comes with a ton of fries and pickles. I was full after just half of the sandwich .... I boxed up the remainder of my lunch and gave it to the fabulous street musician/looking for housing fella and he was delighted.

My wife and I arrived at Old Chicago on a Sunday afternoon at about 3:00pm after doing some hiking west of Boulder. I've been to other Old Chicago's before and really liked them so I thought it would a good place to stop. When we arrived, the hostess told us she would be with us in a minute. She was looking at the seating chart and she had said to another hostess that someone had marked something on the sheet and it appeared that this was causing her some confusion. She then told us to wait a little bit longer and I stood there while three hostesses looked at the seating chart to figure it out. We waited about five minutes before she took us back to be seated, which felt a little bit strange because it was not very busy and there were lots of open tables. The hostess wasn't rude, but she didn't seem very happy to be seating us either. We waited at the table for someone to come by and take our order but nobody ever showed up. After sitting there for 10 minutes, we finally decided to leave and eat somewhere else.

I really like the bar at this location. It is at the front end of Pearl St. Mall, and it always feels cool and shaded here on a warm summer day. Going inside is a dark, sort of refreshing experience. Nice selection of various breweries on tap. I love their pizza at Old Chicago. It is always great. They have the best dough. It really isn't Chicago deep dish, but still one of the best pizzas in Colorado. Service at the bar is always friendly. It is a happy place.

Came here late hours because we got in late. We ordered the chicken wings just baked with Apple spice rub, (2) orders and a chicken avocado spinach salad along with a little caprice salad. The waitress, Jill was super sweet and spunky as my fiancée says. Wings were good. The apple spice baked ones were much better. The chicken avocado salad was surprisingly very good. The caprice salad was ok. Honestly reading the reviews I was highly skeptical. But we had no problem here and Jill was cool as heck

This is an excellent place to bring the kids for an easy meal in Boulder. They have nice big booths, and enough ambient noise around that the screeching and wining from the kid's little mouths doesn't seem that bothersome... or is that the beer? JUST KIDDING! The pizza is good, a little thick on the cheese even if you get a thin crust. The salad is good, but a little high on the calorie count. But what do you expect, its a pizza joint!

Not bad for my first experience at Old Chicago. I actually had no idea it was a chain until later, so I guess that's a plus that it didn't have the chain restaurant feel, right? I was in a party of 6 and this was a weekend night, and they were able to seat us pretty quickly. It's a typical big restaurant Italian food type place, with pastas and pizzas, and trendy made up Italian dishes like the Oh My Spaghetti Pie. A friend raves about the Thai Pie which apparently they still have at this location but are taking out of others. I really like the Fried Spicy Pickles appetizer. And the garlic bread is really good. Well at least the bread was good, I actually didn't have any garlic because it's marinated in butter. The waitress was really nice about accommodating me, considering this is an Italian restaurant and not many vegan friendly dishes. It does however have good vegetarian options. I had the house salad with avocado and really liked it. I really liked our server but unfortunately she spilled a whole small cup of marinara sauce on my friend. I think they should have comped her meal but they gave her a free drink. However she ordered no tequila and they put tequila in it. It just wasn't her night, or the server's for that matter. I probably wouldn't go back again, since it obviously doesn't have a wide range of things for me to eat, but everyone in my party was happy with their food. I think if you like the Olive Garden type places where you get decent Italian food, then you're bound to like this place.

I am here now and the service is horrible. Water did not come out for over 10 minutes and we had to ask for it multiple times. My friend asked if they could make a drink and the waitress verified that they could make (she went back and asked the bartender). A bartender came out 15 minutes a later and said they couldn't make his drink. He ordered another drink and it wasn't out for another 5 minutes. My drink came out after only waiting a few minutes but it wasn't even full! This is the worst service I have ever had at an Old Chicago and I will never come back.

I wish I could give this place no stars but I can't. The only good thing about this place is the eye candy from the street and the cute girl who sat alone beside us!. I wish I could remember the servers name so I could tell management they need to train him. Place was slow and I couldn't even get him to cash us out. I like old chicago but thi one is making me double think!. Won't be back anytime soon. Retrain the guy on the patio today last section on the patio to the right of the entrance! Enough said!

"Chicago" it is not. Pizza: thick, fluffy dough, somewhat buttery. Low quality sauce. Good cheese, but not enough quantity to merit the name Chicago. Leaves bad taste in mouth. Overall, disappointing. Italian beef: not Chicago style, but Chicago-inspired with better ingredients. Service: attrocious

We went to Old Chicago today and had an amazing experience. We are from Texas and aren't too familiar with Boulder. Our waiter, Josh, went above and beyond helping us with selections on visiting Colorado! We got the pepperoni rolls for an appetizer...delicious! For the main meal we got the deep dish Chicago style pizza...super good! We will be back for sure :)

I'll start by saying that this was totally my fault. I had browsed the menu knowing that I wanted the nachos because their nachos are delicious. Well, I ordered nachos and a beer at the bar. When my nachos came I noticed they were the 'Italian' nachos. Now, I have tried these before and was not impressed. I said to the bartender right away that these were not the nachos I ordered. She told me that the mexican nachos hadn't been on the menu 'for a really long time.' Now I know Boulder that 4 months seems like a looooooong time but I assure you it's not. She asked if they would be ok but in a tone that I felt that if I sent them back, whatever else I ordered would be 'Horatio Sanz'ed Road Trip style,' so I just said I would deal. Aaaaaand after 3 greasy chips I pushed the plate away. No comment, no sorry, no can I get you something else. Nope. I got, 'well, you should come back in a few weeks to see if the other nachos are back on the menu.' Really? I get it that I was charged for the nachos I ordered and didn't send back. But damn, I've been in worse places that have been super cool about stuff like this. But like I said, this was my fault for not reading. Whatever happened to the awesome Old Chicago that had pint glass night and really good beers on tap. Yay! We get New Belgium and Oskar Blues. Who doesn't have that on tap? Anyway, an extra star for lots of tv's with sports on. Too bad I won't be going there to see March Madness because it would've been great here.

Old Chicago can accommodate multiple tabs, has lots of space, and is a mid-priced restaurant so it's a good option for groups. Perhaps its the altitude or the water, but I have yet to try a pizza crust in Boulder that I thought was excellent. Here, the pizza is better than average, and the beer selection almost makes it worth the trip. My salad and some of our appetizers were again, reasonable, but nothing to get too excited about. The service was definitely hit or miss, with the waitress being lovely and accommodating of our big group (which can be frustrating) and the waiter being a complete bitchy jerk.

simple, solid, and relatively boring and "okay" done pub food. Game day will cause you to stop in for a beverage and wings, or a quick pizza. It will not be the best, but it will also not be that fast. But it will not be objectionable. It will not be offensive. It will be good enough to keep you from leaving, and you will be convinced that you may go back some day. You may.... a fine pub like restaurant to stop in and get a quick, non memorable food experience. Four stars above 3 for being a long standing member of the community, and nowhere near as awful as BJ's.

Two reasons to go here and none have to do with the food. 1. Incredible beer selection. 2. Good sports watching with guy watching in the bar. If you must order food, may I suggest the nachos, but bring an army because they are huge! Rest of food is salty and mediocre. I keep trying it like it will change, but nada. And you would think in Boulder a veggie burger would be on their menu. No such luck. Really? Yep that's Old C's stuck way back in time before Boulder went all granola crunchy and vegetarian. Last I checked restaurants are supposed to evolve with the times and patronage....

I've been here a scattered few times (most recently, yesterday, but starting about 4 years ago) and have really only had one good experience. That was when I ordered a guacamole burger to go and ate it outside on the mall, soaking in the February 80 degree sunlight. I thought the burger was fantastic at the time, and that it hit the spot, but I suspect that may have had something to do with the fact that it was 80 degrees in February and my brain was scrambled with joy. Because other that that... it's been half disaster, half mediocre. Let's see... once I came up to the hostess' station to order take out, and asked to look at the menu first. The hostess said, 'No, problem, take your time!'... and then wandered off, only to return 30 seconds later to ask what I wanted to order. I let her know I needed a couple more minutes, and she sighed and wandered off again... for good. Seriously, she didn't come back. Ever. I waited a good 20 minutes, peering around corners and and pointedly making lots of noise, but no dice. Being hungry, I still opted against just leaving, and instead went over to the bar and asked the bartender if he knew where the hostess went. He did not. I asked him if I could order a burger to go through him. He said that that could be arranged. So there I sat, at the bar, at 2:30 pm, feeling awkward because I wasn't ordering beer, surrounded by those hardcore drunks who DO order beer at 2:30 in the afternoon all staring at me, for 20 MORE minutes until finally I got my damn burger and booked it. The burger was soggy and missing half my toppings, and the fries were undercooked. Another time, their credit card machine was broken and no one could figure out how to process my Eco pass discount. I stood there for 15 minutes while managers were called (and presumably the calls were ignored) and staffers crowded around the machine worriedly. Finally, they thought they had run it correctly and I was allowed to leave. Turned out they hadn't run it at all (as I found out when I checked my bank statement a month later). Oh well, free meal! Yesterday's take-out pizza cost an absurd amount of money for a pizza ($40) and I could have eaten my half, no problem (I didn't because I couldn't live with myself for spending $20 for one meal of mediocre pizza... and went to bed hungry). Old Chicago and BJ's are the two restaurants that immediately come to mind when I think of 'WTF Restaurants' on Pearl St., meaning that I really don't understand why anyone goes there, what with the sprawling array of other options on the same sidewalk mall. I'd say though that Old Chicago's food is merely mediocre, while BJ's is often disgusting. The reason people go there must be beer. It must be. The beer has GOT to be seriously multi-orgasmic to justify the bursting crowds Old Chicago gets at night!

We made reservations for a group of 10. When we arrived, they sat us immediately in the back where it was nice and quiet. Our waitress was attentive. I liked that she asked us if we wanted split checks. It was the first time I didn't have to ask for that so I was impressed. I ordered the Thai Pie, which was pretty good. It was a bit sweet for me, but nothing crushed red pepper couldn't fix. My friends ordered a few drinks and they seemed pretty pleased about it.

Planned a work event for 25 people and had a space reserved. Our team building activity ended sooner than expected, so we arrived early. After waiting 40 minutes to be seated we left. The time was well after the lunch rush and the patio and restaurant could have easily accommodated us until the reserved area was ready. The manager offered no solutions, just repeatedly stated "you know that you're early". Walked a block to the Rio and our group was seated in 5 minutes. The food might be okay, but he management and service are severely lacking. There are so many options on Pearl St, I would think that a venue would strive to be flexible to be competitive. I'd recommend a place that actually wants your business.

Just like it was yesterday, I remember the beginnings of this restaurant, which is most certainly the original Old Chicago, long preceeding the duplication that later took place as it became a chain. Unfortunately, the menu, and the quality of the food & service & drinks here has for so many years been affected by overarching corporate mentality that everything about this original Old Chicago is measurably worse than how the restaurant/bar was at the time of its humble beginnings. How well I remember the excellent & fresh spinach salads, and the high quality pizzas. I also treasured the efficient, friendly, and personal service. Not sure any of what the original OC had will be recaptured ever. So I ate there recently after a long evening in Denver when not much else downtown seemed open for dining. Waited 8 minutes just for someone to come to the host station to get seated. Service was ok. Food was ok. But all just ok. No detail to go into, really. Strong overpowering smell of chemical-fruity disinfectant. Made eating difficult, causing gag reflex. Too crowded to ask to move, and the smell permeated the restaurant anyway. I'm sure it's not always like that. I used to love this restaurant. I'm sure they're doing the best they can, given the nature of being part of a corporate entity.

The long, slow decline of Old Chicago's has been unpleasant to watch. The food has gotten progressively blander, the menu seems to change constantly and always in the direction of increased corporatism, the pizza is notably worse, the beer selection isn't what it used to be, etc. It's not awful, but there's really no particular reason to go anymore, either.

Look, it's not amazing and it's not like a unique Bolder place, but it has lots of room to sit outside, the waitstaff was friendly, there was lots of beer and food to choose from, and it was a great place to just sit back and appreciate being in an incredible city. Only bum out is that its right across from where the gutter punks and hippies hang out. I'm a bleeding heart liberal and all, but please leave me the hell alone when I'm trying to snack and get drunk. The incessant asking me for money for booze etc gets old fast.

Pretty good food but the customer service is disappointing. It wasn't always bad, but the last few times I ended up leaving before being greeted by a waiter because I chose to sit out on the patio which is "seat yourself." No one showed up even though the bus girl walked by twice. We even went inside and asked to be served and still no one came for several minutes. Then a street performer started belting out a tune despite the fact that there was a saxophonist playing nearby. That was my limit. She couldn't sing but apparently nobody ever told her that. Merchants on the mall need to enlist the aid of the Chamber of Commerce or City Council in controlling this. It ruined my experience twice in the recent past.

This place does not serve authentic Chicago Deep Dish pizza. It is all crust and very little cheese or other toppings. People in Boulder may think this pizza is good, but it is mediocre at best.

This place is 'Pizza Hut' but with better lighting, more TVs, and a fantastic beer selection. It is *not* chicago-style pizza, as the name suggests, but Pizza-hut style pizza with about a 250% markup. My first experience there will be my last.

Came here for the first time during happy hour and tried the Italian nachos and Spicy cheese dip. Itialian nachos were pretty good, thin crispy chips and pretty awesome toppings, cheese dip was something to be desired. Mostly came for the beer, which from what I hear is why most come. Wait staff was friendly, but awkwardly so. Wait for food was kinda long considering there was only a couple other groups.

I'll revise my last review - went to one of these in Denver and it wasn't so bad but my expectations were a little different than the last time i was there. Had the meatballs and spaghetti - good but HUGE portions - too much to each in one or two sittings. Seems like a beer-centric version of Applebee's.

I'd give it a 3.5, best rotating beer selection I've found so far in Boulder. Their pizza/calzones are quite good, but the other food I've tried has been boring and subpar. Salad was weak, pasta tasted like it was microwaved. Stick to beer and pizza and you'll be happy.

Great place to eat. If you are going to eat here I highly recommend the Italian Nachos. The food is very good, but heavy, so you feel fat after eating here. They have over 110 beers on tap and if you manage to drink all 110 beers (not in a single sitting) you get your name on the wall. Also highly recommend the Double Deckeroni pizza.

This is the original location. Better pizza than the rest of their stores. Good beer selection. Sit outside and you can watch the college chicks stroll down the mall.

Great deep dish pie, every time I go! I come for the atmosphere, the beers on tap....and the pizza of course. Everything from the crust to the sauce, toppings and Mozzarella cheese is consistently above average. Same goes for the one in Longmont and Grand Junction.

Eh its okay. Its a chain (although i too heard the rumor this was the first one...) I think its a little overpriced or maybe a lot overpriced for Boulder. But it's a staple. Thurday nights beer specials are okay. they have a huge bar and the nachos are really good and unconventional. I could take it or leave it, but lots of people seem to love it... I say since you're on Pearl St... try something more local. although... the hamburger stand that sets up outside of OldC's late late night is fantastic.

  • Craig E.

Any truth to the statement that this is the original Old Chicago?? This place, although a chain, is phenomenal, the pizza is some of the best I've ever had, I wish they had Old C's in Cali for me to spend ridiculous amounts of time at. And...they really do have 101 beers on tap! Join the beer club and try to drink all of their beer....in one sitting...and they'll give you a bottle opener! That's not really true, but they do have sweet prizes for members of their club who drink different beers, so awesome!

While the wife & family shop, come here and drink. Food is alright as it tends to be at most Old C locations. Great craft brew offerings but the major drawback is that this location can be quite busy and spoil the aforementioned plan above.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
