This is truly authentic Cuban fare, better than most you'll find in South Florida. I was spoiled as a kid with real Cuban food just down the street, and this is just as good. Get the Cuban Sandwich and a Cafe con Leche, you won't be disappointed.

Empanadas are weak.. Dough was not fully cooked and it wasn't very tasty. The tostones were good for happy hour price. Oh they should also clean their tables.

I don't have Cuban food very often, but for a fast food restaurant, this one is pretty good. I had the Lechon Asada, which consists of garlic-roasted pulled pork, sauteed onions & garlic mojo. it was accompanied by black beans and rice. The pork was very good. This was a very tasty lunch diversion.

I want to like Cuba Cuba Sandwicheria, oh, I really do! But alas. Every time I've been there - always for dinner - the service has been pretty bad. For whatever reason, something is always missing once we receive our food. Either they've forgotten the tostones, or a serving of guacamole, or an alcoholic drink that we ordered. Without fail, not everything we paid for will make it to the table. At our last visit, one of us ordered a sangria. After asking about it on 4 different occasions after placing the order, we finally got it as we were almost done eating. And the alcohol level in it was much lower than anticipated. There are always tables that haven't been cleared and wiped down. I suppose this is partly the fault of bad guests as the expectation is that you'll clear your own table. But it always seems we have an option between a table with beans on it, or a table with rice on it. Since I have yet to be there at a time when they are consistently busy, this disappoints me. Further, every time I go and need to use the restroom, I find myself battling to get around bags of garbage that have not yet been taken outside. Less than ideal scenario. Don't get me wrong - the food is great! The tostones are spot on, though the guacamole could use salt. But if the front of the house looks disheveled, I start to get nervous about what the back much look like. And that's when I start to wander around the corner to Rincon Argentino.

Ive always liked Cuban food, it has a certain flare and creative mixtures of flavors that makes my taste buds want to dance the salsa! I had a Groupon that allotted for $28 worth of food. and this place is very reasonable with their prices, so I went to town ordering 3 sandwiches, plantain chips and a tres leches cake! The Pan Con Lechon was filled with garlic slow roasted pork, sauteed onions, veggie-citrus slaw & mojo aioli on toasted Cuban bread. My girlfriend had the Cubano and for my third sandwich that I saved for the next day was the Pan Con Pollo which is an all-natural chicken breast sandwich, lettuce, tomatoes, sauteed onions & shoestring potatoes on toasted Cuban bread. The plantain chips were crisp and crunchy and the cake was sweet and yummy as well. VIVA LA CUBA CUBA!

My bro was hunkering after a cuban sandwich.. I Yelped it out and found this spot in Boulder in a local shopping center, plenty of parking, small space but well used and friendly staff. I enjoyed a half cubano with garlicky fries, and a café con leche.. THe bro enjoyed his pulled pork and empanada. Awesome spot for a Cuban sando and a cubanito café!

This was my first time having this type of cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised how flavorful it was. I had a sandwich called the cubano.I love when you pull a part a sandwich and the cheese stretches out. That means perfectly melted cheese. Besides cheese it had ham,slow-roasted pork, pickels, and mustard on a pressed cuban bread. It had an overall nice flavor. I liked how it was wrapped in butcher paper. Left me wanting to try more of the menu.

Seriously good Cubanos, but my favorite is the Lechon Asada platter. It's the best I've had in a long time! We'll definitely be regulars here.

Cuba Cuba freshly prepares real food on the premises from whole ingredients, and sells that food for reasonable prices. Two thumbs up just for those aspects! By way of background, though I haven't visited Cuba, I've eaten large and delicious quantities of Cuban food all across Miami, so I have some familiarity with the cuisine. We enjoy CC and look forward to returning periodically in the future. In my comments below regarding specific dishes, I include a few negatives because I'm hoping CC can use those comments to transform from a tasty 4 stars to a decadently delicious 5 stars. The Cuban sandwich (media noche, baby!) verges on excellent. It is exactly what it should be, including ham, sliced roasted pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, and thinly sliced pickles, heated in a sandwich press. Best media noche I've had outside of Miami in a very long while. My only quibble- it wasn't heated through completely, so the ham was still coldish, and the bread wasn't browned at all. But we would order this sandwich again in a heartbeat. The pescado plate came with 4 pieces of fried fish, a macerated cabbage slaw, black beans, and white rice. The fish was perfectly prepared. Truly delicious. Probably the best fried fish I've had in recent memory. Our quibble? The fish pieces were very small, 2 1"-inch cubes and 2 3/4"-cubes. Barely enough to even begin to enjoy. We wouldn't order the Pollo a La Plancha again. It was the least good of everything we tried. The chicken breast, which was pounded to about 1/8" thick, was way overcooked. Tough to cut, tough to chew. A piece of white meat chicken that thin should have been cooked on the hot griddle for about 10-15 seconds per side, literally. And the flavor of the dish wasn't particularly good. The Cuban Fries were very nice. Very garlicky, but very nice. They were room temperature, however. I can only imagine how good they would have been if they had been hot! A word about the white rice. Most of the plates come with a heap of white rice. Sounds bland, and looks bland. But it was actually very good, nicely and subtly seasoned. The black beans were a bit disappointing. I adore Cuban black beans, so much so that I make them at home on a regular basis. The traditional preparation has a lot of flavor, and makes a delicious meal in its own right. But the black beans at CC were kind of bland. The prices are quite reasonable for freshly prepared food. $7 for a sandwich, and $7 or $8 for a plate. The sandwiches don't come with a side, but they are a good size and will fill you up without a problem. The atmosphere is pleasant. A bit faux art-directed, but still very bright and pleasant. A large window rolls open in warmer weather, and there is an outdoor patio with quite a few seats. Some great Cuban music was playing while we were there. It was a bit loud, so we couldn't hear each other very well, but the music was so fun that we didn't really mind.

The best damn Cuban food this side of the Mississippi! The food tastes authentic enough to remind me of South FL. The menu items are very well priced and they even have MOJITOS that taste so damn good! I would highly recommend this place to try if you are looking for a taste of South FL!

Cuba Cuba picadillo is what I ordered. I got a plate of rice, beans, and spicy beef. Now stated like that it sounds boring, but the flavors of the beans and meat were awesome. An explosion in my mouth which was mainly caused by jalapenos but it wasnt the only flavor. Needless to say I cleaned my plate and I'll be back.

This place has delicious food, but not the most professional service... I work for a large company and we order lunches every day for a large number of people on staff. I decided to put Cuba Cuba in the rotation. The first couple of times they forgot to label the sandwiches with names, as I requested on the online form (which is important, as it is incredibly difficult to distribute them if I don't know what they are or who they are for). This morning, I requested for them to label sandwiches with names in all caps in a few places on the order form, just to make sure this would be done...I also added a thank you and smiley face so they wouldn't think I was being a jerk. When they came, the sandwiches were written with the names covering the sandwiches, over and over again (see photo). The response was cute, I guess, but incredibly unprofessional and passive-aggressive for simply requesting that an individual do their job correctly. I'm not sure we'll be ordering from this location again.

Beware the scam!! Order from hungry buffs, pay min %30 more plus 4 bucks for delivery. This place is a scam. The online order from the site is a lie. They took my money and lied. Hungry buffs is happy to deliver. But they charge 25% more than if you walked in. Then you pay 4 bucks for delivery. This is a scam place plane and simple

I love this place! For the price, the meal is authentic, delicious, and large. I can rarely eat my entire sandwich. The pork sandwich is to die for.

Great food. Small local place. Ordered at counter and ate outside. Cuban sandwich was very good. Fries needed to be hotter. They were practically cold.

The steak sandwich is so amazingly delicious that I've had dreams about it. The Cuban fries are garlicky and very delicious. The sweet plantains are superb. I crave the food from here. It's awesome. Now for the things that aren't so awesome.. I have a baby that goes to bed early so I almost always eat dinner around 5pm. When I'm in there the place is empty and the employees are hanging out, but the lobby is filthy. Every table and seat has food on it and we always have to clean up before we sit down. Secondly, the same girl is always working as the cashier and she is very friendly, and quick to offer suggestions or answer questions. However, as I sit in the empty restaurant eating, she tends to goes on and on and on to other employees about how drunk she was last weekend and what party she's going to this weekend. It's not the best background music to enjoy my meal to. :)

Delicious food. More smiles behind the counter would make this a must for great beans and rice, cafe con leche and Latin beats played overhead. The prices are very reasonable and nice you can get a drink at a fast food place!

Amazing food! The sandwiches are great, and the coffee is wonderful. I would go here every day if it wasn't embarrassing to do so! Also the staff is very nice. There is plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. Vegetarian options available.

I ordered online and they came within half an hour and we live 10-15 mins away. All the order substitutions and all the unique requests were listened to. I would want to give this place higher ratings but I am sorry to say, I was mostly not happy with the food and don't plan to order again. I am from San Diego originally if that helps give any background. Tres leche cake was overly soaked and way too sweet. It was also very small for $4 it was like the size of half a cupcake. It tasted like all they did was pour a can of sweetened condensed milk on top because it still had that grainy condensed milk taste. Yes, I understand condensed milk is supposed to be in tres leche cake but this was not how it's supposed to be made! Condensed milk is supposed to be mixed lightly with milk and cream. Tres leche is supposed to be smooth and light, not grainy. You can get a 100x better tres leche cake in Boulder at Panderia Sabor A Mexico. I ordered the Pollo a La Plancha Plate and asked with avocado slices instead of rice. They listened to the directions. The black beans were barely warm and undercooked. This was not a proper container for this dish. The avocado slices were warm and had several brown spots on them which was unappetizing. The chicken was way too salty and didn't taste very fresh to me. It reminded me of a smashburger chicken patty but not as fresh as smashburger. My biggest complaint is the extreme saltiness of the chicken. I couldn't even finish it. My husband ordered Pan Con Bistec Sandwich and he didn't like it he said meat was tough and too salty. He could barely finish half and the other half went in the trash. The cuban fries were interesting taste but they were barely warm and very soggy because of the way they were packaged. I don't know why restaurants in boulder choose this god awful cardboard box packaging it is so annoying to open and eat out of. The only positive thing I can say were the sweet plantains were good.

Delicious home cooked Cuban food with espresso. Loved the citrus slaw, beans, mahi mahi, and plantain chips! Fast service, reasonable prices.

I was super disappointed with Cuba Cuba... we got a cuban sandwich and it just was not good at all. You could barely taste the pork, there was a lot of cheese but it lacked flavor and the bread was soggy.... pretty much the opposite of what a cuban sandwich should be.

Awesome place. Real authentic Cuban food. Always good service, great food, and the tres leches cake is to die for! I've never had a bad experience here and I don't see myself having one in the future. The place gets busy on the weekends so if you want a good seat get here early! I hope to see this place be here for a long time!

Great value for a lunch or light dinner. Tasty grilled entrees authentically spiced with side of beans and rice. Perfect Cubano sandwich. Try the home cooked plantain chips. Very reasonable prices.

Cuba Cuba was my goto casual quick eats place for a while. After gorging myself for weeks on their sandwiches, I've slowed my intake. I generally find the plates to be a better value than the sandwiches. The roast pork plate costs less than the roast pork sandwich and has a sizable mound of meat (or maybe I have them reversed and its a dollar more, regardless, even at a dollar more I would prefer the plate). I enjoy that the pork, chicken, and beef options all have their own character. The pork is flavored with mojo, while the beef gets a more chimichurri-like treatment. Each has a sandwich option or a platter option. The maduros are great (had a couple underripe, but not the norm). This is the kind of place I'll miss when I eventually have to move away.

I give it five stars because the pan con lechon (pork sandwich with cole slaw) was out of this world. Melt in your mouth delicious. So it's a little divey, and the beer selection is poor (Tecate and Corona) - I've paid way more for food I liked way less. My colleague also loved the steak sandwich he had. Im in Boulder for a couple more days and definitely will be trying this again.

Friendly service, good sandwiches, casual and laid back atmosphere, BUT THAT COFFEE THOUGH... Life changing is a good way to describe this place. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, which I enjoyed while recalling one spring my family vacationed in Naples, FL and we ended up at this wayward (but super awesome) small family-owned resto that served delicious grouper. According to the friendly cashier we spoke to, there are 2 locations- the other is more of a sit-down, full service restaurant in Denver. This place also gets extra kudos for mailing my bf his wallet back home after he somehow left it on the counter and we were already in Pueblo, not wanting to double back thru traffic.

I went with a pulled pork platter with beans and rice. It didn't have anything fancy but it didn't need it, the onions, spices, and I think some lemon made it. After that I got a side of fried plantains which I'd say their main food is on par with my other favorite Cuban restaurant but their plantains were very well made. I'm happy that I don't have to drive far for good Cuban food anymore

Being from Tampa, I had a hankering for a Cuban one day so we decided to try this place out. Overall, not bad, considering it's in the middle of Colorado. As it should be, there is a decent selection of Gluten Free options (hubs has celiac). I, on the other hand, got to indulge in whatever gluten filled goodness I wanted. The Cuban sandwich was good - at very least, it satisfied my craving. The service here was excellent. The staff was super friendly and efficient... My compliments to them. They were quick to clean up a mess left by previous customers (if you can even call them that - they left such a huge Tokyo Joe's mess all over two tables that we had to wonder - Did the slobs even eat food from the establishment who's patio seating they utilized?) Anywho, when I asked for help clearing the tables, the guy didn't even hesitate - he was very quick and helpful!

Just looking at the menu...I knew I was gonna be back again with all simple and different options from the small menu. Being my first time I went with their staple pulled pork samïch and Cuban fries. The sandwich was clean, simple and above all had a great flavour profile. Even-though the pork had excellent flavour, the citrus veggie slaw was my favorite part and was the star of the sandwich. ( it should be the other way around but I'll still come back, it was delicious.) I would encourage everyone to grab the Cuban fries, their skinny fries with a sort of garlic or truffle oil seasoning. The wait service did an above excepted job, very attentive with table side service. All in all it was a delicious meal with my friends, like I said Ill be back again to try other options.

Cuba Cuba is now my favorite restaurant in CO! We had the Mahi Mahi, lechon asada (slow roasted pork), Cuban fries, sweet plantains, guacamole and tres leches cake for dessert. Each dish was exceptional, fresh and beautifully presented, without any pretentiousness. Don't miss out on this place!

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I never do until I have been and consistently got great food. That being said, it was pretty great. I put up pics with descriptions of what me and my buddy had but I highly recommend it. Fried plantains were good and if you like spicy get the habanero aioli it's not super hot but a little kick on the back end.

My husband ordered a veggie sandwich I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. His came toasted bread delicious, mine came pale and soggy bread. I took a bite, not good. I called the waitress and told her that my sandwich was not good and she said she will bring another one. Even though I have ordered a pulled pork sandwich she brought me a ham one. My husband asked her if it was pork and she said ham and pork, I couldn't fine the pulled pork in it. My appetite was gone and I was already too tired to complain again. I took it home. The music was simply great. Since it was my first time I won't go there again.

This is great authentic Cuban Miami food. We are so lucky to have this "taste of home" so far from home. I couldn't get enough of the black beans and rice, and the plantains were perfectly cooked. The manager was extremely friendly, as well. We will definitely come back again and again and again.

Great sandwich place!!! At Cuba Cuba, I had almost the most delicious sandwiches in town!! Served hot and fresh, and it melts in your mouth. I love the slaw. Service is also great. The cashier girl is very nice and attentive. I've only been here twice, but I was 100% satisfied with each experience. I'd love to come here every day if I could...Will definitely recommend to people!

This place was recommended by a co-worker who is a local. I have never had Cuban food before, but needed to find out. Ordered the Cuban sandwich. O.K., pulled pork, ham, cheese, pickle and mustard on Cuban bread. How different or exciting could this be? Well... It is really good and like nothing that I have had before. The meat, cheese, mustard and pickle work well together with mild spices, some tang, a little brine on that special bread. I love good bread, and this is unique. I really like it. You should try this place. I had my sandwich take-out. The service was good, and it seemed to have a pleasant atmosphere. The Cuban sandwich is a must have.

We are SO happy to have an (almost) Cuban restaurant in a part of the country that is completely under-served for Cuban food! The menu is short, but the Cuban sandwiches are good (please, though, Cuba Cuba, the pickles should be see-through and the bread should be pressed until crispy). The empanadas/picadillo are great. The handmade ham croquettas are awesome, when offered (please make these a regular menu item!). Yuca - fried or con mojo - is missing from the menu as well. It may not be the Versailles/Miami Cuban one might be used to, but we are very very thankful to be able to get a decent Cuban sandwich right in Boulder! Super fast and friendly service too.

I've been wanting to try my first cubano, I was not disappointed. Excellent flavor. The pickles really set it off. The bread was crisp and light. The Cuban fries were great, just the right amount of lime flavor. Awesome alternative to the usual sandwiches.

Came down for a Cuban Sandwich. We are from LA and know what Cuban is. Our orders where. Ropa Vieja, Pork sandwich, Cuban sandwich, and my daughter had the steak. All the food believe it or not was good. But don't get the pork sandwich with the coleslaw on it. Ask for it on the side. U Denver folk are weird, but to each his own on the toppings. Allthough the slaw was actually good. It doesn't belong on a Cuban Pork Sandwich. I would recommended for a quick bite to eat.

Solid food choice for your Cuban food fix. I have had some awesome Cuban food back East and in Florida I would compare it to an average to ok place back East. I had their Cuban sandwich and was pretty standard Cuban. Their sides again were tasty but nothing stood out as from other Cuban food I have eaten. So if you want some tasty Cuban this will hit the spot...

Damn damn damn GOOD food. Upon recently moving to Boulder, my wife and I found this little Cuban gem after a yoga class that we drove to in a Subaru that our dog enjoys riding in. The ONLY part of that last statement that is not cliche, I think, is the "Cuban Gem" part. Seriously, it's a no frills little place with a TON of flavor and great service. The Vegetales En Salsa has a bangin' sauce. If you don't like it... well, I shed a single year for you. The Pan Con Lechon: holy crap... its pork sandwich heaven. It is messy, it's citrus-y, it's friggin' fantastic-y. I looked at my wife after finishing and said, "Well, now I have my first place to take people when they visit." Eat here. It's good.

  • Jonathan S.

Really good food. The pulled pork on the sandwich could've had more flavor, but the sauce and fresh slaw made up for it. Guac needed more garlic and salt.

Pretty great, id go again. Sandwich bread is nice, tres leches was soft and sweet. I'd ask for more pickles next time though! All this coming from someone who lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 6 years. Nice going Cuba Cuba.

3 stars for value, 3.5 stars for taste. Had the cubano, and the wife had the pan con pollo. I have no specific complaints for either of the sandwiches except they were both slightly on the dry side. The tostones were great! Only wish there were more, but for 2.50 I have no complaints.

This was an amazing stop on a rainy day. Get the vegetarian plate. Roasted veggies sliced paper thin and a creole sauce, chunks of sweet plantain, a little goat cheese and the very best black beans I've ever had. Who knew black beans could be that good? Not me. Hubby got a Cuban sandwich and the Cuban fries. Fries were pipe cleaner thin and lovely and his sandwich got a two thumbs up. He also ordered a cortado (espresso with steamed sweetened condensed milk), how could you miss with that. It was not just a good lunch place it was the best meal I've had in a while. Service was excellent. Attentive but not opressive. Go there. They know what they are doing.

  • Niles W.

This is pretty good food, but way overpriced for what you get. The sandwich was $8, and should have been $5. The fried plantains were good, but 5 little pieces for $2.50? Should have come with a side for the $8. Bottom line is pretty good, but won't be back because of pricing.

So it's been a while since I've been back to Cubacuba. Decided to go back and try it out for happy hour. Maybe it's just me but I still can't get a decent meal there. I'm giving it 2 stars because it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. First off, we ordered mojitos, they were out of limes, soooo they subbed LEMONS! Really?!?!? Sprouts is right next door, you can't go and get limes? So we got 2 empanadas, 1 meat, 1 veggie. My girlfriend takes a bite of her veggie, and it was filled with beef, as was mine. They eventually replaced it, but it put a bad taste in her mouth. The fries were good if its any conciliation.

I was so excited to see a Cuban restaurant close to our hotel so knew that we had to stop there for lunch. Food was just ok. I had the Lechon asado plate. The beans were in serious need of some seasoning. The pork was a bit dry and the mojo just tasted like pure garlic. It is such a promising place... Just wish they were not so afraid of some salt and sofrito.

We had lunch a few months ago. I did not have a coupon, but I have seen Take Out deals with Living Social. The decor was brightly painted and had an open window with shutters which made it really airy like we were in Cuba. We ordered at the counter and bussed our own table. Moving from Florida recently, we were craving Cuban sandwiches. The Tostones, Croquettes, and Pressed Cuban were all excellent and we will definitely be back even without the coupon and that says a lot for me!

I know, I know. I'm on a streak of nice reviews, but I hadn't written any reviews for a while so I'm trying to remember all the good meals I've eaten since starting work in Boulder. My boss and I recently came in here for a sandwich and I was amazed at the Cuban. It's a legit pressed sandwich, not some shitty Target purchased $40 panini press masking as a Cuban. We had a torta (ok) as well as some plantains (pretty good). The sides were nothing to write home about, but the Cuban was worth writing home... to Miami.

We wanted to inexpensive, fast lunch while visiting Boulder, and happened across Cuba Cuba. It seemed a bit different than the usual fare, and the price was about right, so we decided to give it a whirl. The food was ok, but it was anything but fast. The sandwiches are inspired by Cuban cuisine, as are the drinks (yes, they serve booze!) The sandwiches are all the same price ($7) so it doesn't matter which you get. I ordered, appropriately, the Cubano, which is just a Cuban sandwich. I've never had one before, but have seen it at other restaurants, and decided to finally try one. It consisted of ham and pork with swiss cheese and pickles on a roll. The ham was just cold cut ham, but the pork seemed to be a bit fresher, and was actually sliced fresh from a pork roast I think. It tasted pretty good, and the cheese and mustard went with the sandwich well. I was not a fan of the pickles and picked them right off of there. The missus' went for the Boulder Cuban, which was just a roast veggie sandwich. The vegetables were actually roasted, not just cold, raw veggies like you would get at Subway, and also had a nice goat cheese to go with it. She liked her sandwich quite a bit, but it was too veggie for me. The one thing I have to say is that it took way too long for our food to come out. After ordering you are given a little tag to bring to your table so the staff can bring your food out to you. We waited close to twenty minutes before our sandwiches were brought out, and that just seemed to be too long of a wait for just sandwiches. It didn't seem overly busy so I don't know what the deal was, but they have got to speed things up. Otherwise the food was decent, and a better sandwich alternative to places like Subway or Blimpies.

Delicious! I had the Lechon Asado with plantains and it was just as good as the restaurant in downtown Denver. I had to take away a star because their salads aren't that great honestly, but I'm more concerned about the pork anyway, so no big deal.

A friend from work introduced me to Cuba Cuba recently, and after that, I assure you he's got a friend for life. Absolutely stellar Cuban food, very authentic, made by people who clearly know and care what they're doing. From the platanos maduros, to the ropas viejas, to the media noche, everything I tried was divine. I plan to eat my way through their menu. There were a couple of slight deviations from "authentic" - the cuban bread isn't exactly like I remember from back home in Miami, but the change appears not to be sloppiness, but a catering to regional tastes - you can also get a whole-grain bread for your sandwiches. Regardless, it was really good. I was also delighted to see beverages imported all the way from South Florida, that were in every little sandwich shop there, but are not sold in the rest of the US. I would give them really high marks for authenticity, selection, quality of ingredients, and service. Truly good Cuban food, made by people who know what they're doing.

I met my parents here after wandering by for a while but never actually going in. It was an easy spot and I knew it'd make a quick lunch, which is what I needed that day. My parents were excited and had already ordered when I walked in, because they had a special that day that they wanted very badly. I ordered my food- a $7 "roasted vegetable" plate, and noted that it costs the exact same as the chicken and veggie plate, the beef and veggie plate, the pork and veggie plate, etc. I noted that mine was supposed to come with plantains, and thought "well I guess that'll be what makes this more substantial". To their credit, they did get my food out with my parents' despite me ordering probably 10 minutes later, but really that just means my parents' food took way too long for semi-service. My parents split their entree, and basically they each had more food than what I had. About 1/3 cup of thin veggie strips, doused in a potent, though tasty, sauce. It was so strongly flavored, and so overabundant, that I couldn't tell what vegetable I was eating in any way. The side of roasted plantains I was supposed to get? A 3 inch long piece of plantain cut in half. That does not make a side. I was really disappointed that this was supposed to be the entree part of my dish and it looked like a small child's portion. Actually I'll be the kid's pressed ham and cheese sandwich is way bigger than my much more expensive meal. It did come with beans, about 1/4-1/3 cup, spread very very thin to look bigger, and probably 1 1/3 cups rice, which I didn't eat. On the plus side, my parents' meal was easily big enough for two, with probably over a cup of stewed beef and vegetables, beans, rice, and 2 fried green plantain patties. I doubt I'll return, but if I do, I'm getting a plate with meat as the main item, or a salad, which also seemed generous in portion size.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO! good cuban food is generally hard to find, but cuba cuba sandwicheria makes it SO EASY! sandwiches = delicious, generous in portions, and offer gluten-free options (yeah, baby!) fries with mojo sauce = unbelievably, garlicky good! even the sides of black beans with rice are delish. and the sweet plantains - well, that's why i come here as often as i do. my honey had a pan con lechon (pulled pork sandwich) that was juicy and so tasty. because they're so good, it can get a little crowded on weekdays during the lunch hour, but there's ample seating indoors and on their patio. and hey - you can always get it to go!

I'm a regular at the Cuba Cuba restaurant in Denver and wanted to try out the "sandwicheria"; we were not disappointed. The "Cubano" was great, just like having one in Miami and so were the maduros. Although it was late in the day, and the crowds were already gone, the place had a nice atmosphere, and I got to meet and chat awhile with the manager and fellow compatriot, Lourdes. I'm already planning to go back in the Spring and Summer months with friends so they can try out the sandwiches for themselves. You've done a great job Christie and Lourdes! Continued success and see you again soon!

Great food for the carnivores, but if you're vegetarian, consider a different lunch spot. Although they have a "just throw all the side veggies on bread" choice, there's not much variety beyond that. Also, although the sauce on the fries was tasty, they're very much the shoestring, crunchy sort of fry. Some love it, some hate it. Just know what you're getting into!

I lived in So. Florida for 17 years... I know good Cuban food, and this is not. When they first opened they didn't have limes or cilantro, and not just because they were out of them. I was told they didn't have these things in the restaurant. OK, so can't really be Cuban, and the food was just ok. I went back for lunch yesterday and see they now have limes and cilantro! Unfortunately their food was still bland. We had to cover the lechon asado with salt to get a little flavor to come out. And the black beans were spread out on the plate and barely enough to mix into the rice. I think they were more to make the plate look full than to call it a serving of black beans and rice. So I will most likely not go back here again. Not because its terrible because it is not. Its just not that good.

I tried Cuba Cuba for the first and only time via a to-go order. I ordered the Cubano sandwich, the Picadillo bowl, and a side of the sweet plantains for my partner and I to share. I started eating the sandwich first, and my partner the bowl when all of a sudden he said, "Don't eat the bowl - it has capers." Capers happen to be my only food allergen. Regardless of the few people who are allergic to them, they have such a prominent flavor that I'm surprised they weren't be mentioned. I've never encountered them in a dish where they weren't named, and obviously Picatta, Puttanesca, and tapenades should be avoided. Description: CUBAN BOWLS PICADILLO*GF $7 ground beef seasoned with cuban spices, raisins, potatoes & peppers over white rice & black beans Luckily I didn't take a bite, so I saved a trip to Urgent Care, but I thought they would appreciate the feedback. I e-mailed them a month ago to share this experience with them and recommend that they add the word "capers" to the menu description, and got absolutely no response. Bravo Cuba Cuba! I can tell you really care about customer feedback.

Watermelon and pineapple sodas were both interesting. I thought the pork in my pan con lechon sandwich was kind of dry, though the bread and slaw were fine. Warm plantains were moist and tasty. My wife's ham and cheese was ok. Certainly worth a visit, but way short of outstanding.

Great lunch spot. Had the Cuban Burger and my friend had the Mahi sandwich. Both were delicious. They were very busy but we still got our food quick, fresh and hot. My only small complaint is the habanero aioli, it needs more kick. I'm sure it was toned down for the masses but in my opinion if you're going to use habanero, use it!!

I wanted to like this place. Nice staff, cute decor. Where the beef on my steak sandwich. Lots of bread and lettuce, I could not find the meat, so little. If I wanted a salad I would have ordered one. Way too much garlic on fries, not needed. Friends meals came out minutes later and mine got cold waiting for hers. I have had much better. They need to have a few real Cuban cooks back there. Just misses the mark, will not go back.

Maybe I should start by telling you that I am from rural Kansas, so perhaps have not been awakened to the incredible Cuban food that Miami natives describe -- but I think this is damn good food. The first reason I like Cuba Cuba is the awesome decor. The bright colors, playful murals (even on the ceiling) and neat finish on the chairs keep my eyes busy in a good way. My boyfriend and I sat outside at a bar straddling outside and inside. It had a copper countertop that was cold to the touch -- perfect for a scorching August day. Besides the decor, the food is really, really good. Honestly, we just came to Cuba Cuba because it's between campus (where my boyfriend works during the day) and downtown (where I work during the day). I foresee many more lunch dates here. We got the bistec sandwich and the tempura mahi mahi bowl. My boyfriend's sandwich was good -- filling, with shoestring potatoes in perfectly pressed bread. My bowl was heavenly -- but really, how can tempura mahi mahi NOT be good? The sweet plantains were pleasantly starchy and delicious. I'm a fan of "a little something sweet" after a meal, so we went for the tres leches cake. Holy deliciousness! Do not skip this sweet treat. For $3, it's totally worth all it: cold vanilla cake saturated in sweet condensed milk topped with whipped cream. Heaven. Truly. Oh -- another reason I like Cuba Cuba: before I tried it for myself, I ordered catering for an office event. I gave them my budget, and they worked with it to give me more than I paid for. Everyone really liked the sandwiches, too. I appreciated their willingness to work with me and the awesome sandwich platters! Give Cuba Cuba a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed (though my friend tells me the pork sandwich leaves something to be desired). Go while it's still hot outside and enjoy that nice, cool bar!

I'm part Cuban and from Miami and am always on the search for good Cuban food. I travel a lot for my work and have sampled interpretations of "Cuban" from coast to coast. I admit I did not have high hopes of finding good Cuban in Boulder. I was wrong. I had the Lechon Asado (Roasted Pork) and it was tender and flavorful. It was served with white rice and black beans which were both quite good, although I wish there was the option of substituting yellow rice. I ordered a Mojito and it was mixed perfectly. The only disappointment of the meal was the flan. The consistency seemed off and I found it to be too eggy tasting and not sweet enough. They were out of Iron Beer soda during my visit but if you have the opportunity to order one you should do so - it is an excellent and unique flavored Cuban cola that really compliments Cuban food. When I am back in the area I will be sure to come again for my Cuban fix!

Having moved to Colorado from Miami I never thought I would eat Cuban food again. On occasion I would find a restaurant that CLAIMED to be Cuban. I was always disappointed. While in Boulder on a day trip I found Cuba Cuba........WOW! This place is the real deal. My wife and I had a great lunch. The icing on the cake is there is another one in Denver. Great news. If you want to try Cuban food (and coffee) at its best go to Cuba Cuba. I will be back.

We've come here more than a few times since I first wrote this review. Since then, I've tried the picadillo - fantastic - and noticed that the lechon is actually better than it was the first few times I've been. What's more, they've expanded the menu to offer croquetas, tostones and empanadas on the regular menu. All good things, though the tostones aren't the best I've had. That's likely because we came at a slow time, though. The reason for the update, however, is to mention something quite important. I've met the owner a couple of times I've been in here. She's incredibly nice. I've mentioned a couple of times that I'd love it if they added ropa vieja. The last time I did, she said I was the third person that day that asked for it and to watch Facebook for their specials. Well, they added it two days later, so back we went. It was amazing and tasted like South Florida without the aftertaste of tanning oil and superiority. Slow cooked, great beef flavor that wasn't overpowered by tomatoes or spices. The guys behind the counter said it had been popular that day, which is great. Hopefully it'll become a regular. I already am.

Cuba Cuba could have easily obtained a 4 star review. The problem...their plantain chips are no longer fried in house and are now packaged, generic chips. This is very disappointing - especially because this is trying to replicate a traditional Cuban restaurant you would find in Miami. Besides that, sandwiches are standard fare. They are good and filling, but kind of small for the price. We ordered the traditional pork and the brie sandwich with turkey. Both were good - and I hate pork from restaurants as well.

So we were in boulder running errands, and we saw this place and decided to give it a try. Cuban food is a type of cuisine that I am pretty familiar with as someone who grew up in Florida and has lived in dade county as an adult. As we were sitting out on the porch of this place, I asked the mrs if she felt like we were back in Miami. She said, "of course not, but that would be ridiculous to expect." And so it is with my opinion on this place. It is good, not great Cuban food, but that is better than what I thought I could find out here so I'll take it. Had the steak sandwich and black beans. The flavors were as they should be. Wife had rope vieja which they felt needed an explanation as to what it was (which I suppose is a testament to how unfamiliar the food is to people in the area). Prices aren't bad. We would come back if we were in the area.

Cheap Food. Colorful Decor. Outdoor Seating. Delicious beans. We came here for a company lunch and sat outside. This seemed like more of a college lunch spot but we had a good time, nonetheless. You bus your own tables, which we didn't mind doing. Would check it out again.

Cuba Cuba Sandwicheria has very quietly become my favorite place to eat in Boulder. I didn't even realize I loved it so much until I caught myself there twice in the same week earlier this month. At first I stuck with the sandwiches, hesitant to stray away from the classic Cuban sandwiches (cubano, lechon, bistec), but once I started exploring the entire menu I realized just how great the food is. The plates lend themselves perfectly to fast-casual preparation, an amalgamation of meat, vegetables, rice, aiolo, beans, etc. whose only concern is preparation and not presentation. The standout plate is the mahi-mahi - the first time I ever got it was to-go, and it still blew me away. Now if non-sandwich/pizza food can catch you off guard prepared to-go, something special is going on. The mahi tempura led to me finally trying the minuta de pescado. This is the first sandwich anyone eating at CCS should eat, and I can't believe I've been eating here for over a year without trying it. Tempura, cabbage slaw, habanero aiolo - I'm not too familiar with Cuban food so all my past run-ins with fish-in-sandwich-form caused my eyes to glaze over every time I passed it - but I really want to say it's my favorite thing to eat in Boulder now. It's a pretty big statement but I think I'm going to stick to it. This is also a great place for a small group (I'd say no more than 4 people) to get together and have some tasty $3.50 mojitos and half-price appetizers (Cuban fries, rice, empanadas, plantains, etc.) for happy hour (3-6). I think one piece of advice I'd give is that, in my experience, it's not a very good place to bring your kids *if* they have a tendency to get loud. The place doesn't hold noise very well and the couple of times I've been eating in-restaurant with parties who had hyper kids were just a bit unpleasant because screeches and yelps are compounded. But now that spring is (finally) coming, the patio is a great option.

Amazing food! The pan con lechon sandwich is to die for. I always get extra mojo aoili on the side bc its so yummy! The fries are so super good, I get those without the garlic aoili and they are super thin and crip and tasty. The service is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. I go here once a week or once every two weeks. Probably ought to try something new one of these times but that sandwich is so damn good I have a hard time straying away from it.

YUM. How we didn't find this place sooner... It makes me sad to think of all the lechon asado bowls and platanos I've missed out on. This place is great-- quick, tasty food that's beyond reasonable for a serious helping of pork, MOJO (yes, please), white rice, black beans, and a slice of lime. Virtually everything right on the menu is gluten free (aside from the classic sandwich)-- and I've heard they'll make you a gluten free sandwich with gluten free bread though I've yet to try it (lechon bowl addiction). Also, the platanos are crazy delicious, I could just eat those and be happy.

Loved the beef and the veggie empanadas, both were super flavorful. The desserts were great too - the flan was ultra creamy and custardy (not too jello-like) and the bread pudding, which is an occasional special, was one of the best I've ever tried. The ambiance was bustling, colorful, and loud. I look forward to bringing my 3 year old here, he is going to love it!

My wife, kids and myself stopped here to eat while house shopping in boulder and we were not disappointed. My wife got the Pan con Lechon (pulled poor sandwich) and it was the best sandwich we ordered. I ordered the Cubano because pork two ways and sour dill chips and mustard is a combination that excites me sexually, emotionally and culinarily. It was good but seriously the Lechon was crazy good. Perfectly slow roasted pulled pork, a nice fresh slaw and the aioli brought my wife to inter-dimensional ecstasy. We also ordered some of their garlic fries and fried sweet plantains. Very tasty compliments to our sandwiches. Next time we go we will get one of the plate meals that include rice and black beans. Its a big meal for the price as this place is very easy on your pocket regardless of what you order. Will return again soon!

OH my Lord, I love this place. I have been back several times, and the next time I am near Boulder CO, you better believe I'll be back. The medianoche, the cubano, the vegetarian offerings, all so delicious. My husband is a new vegan who used to indulge in Miami cuban food, and even he was able to stick to his new foodstyle but still go home happy. And I got to try several different cuban sodas with flavors we do not get in American soda. I am so glad this place exists!

I've been excited to try this place out ever since I saw the signs for it before it opened! I finally got to try it out about a month ago and have to say I was really disappointed. I ordered the "pan con lechon" sandwich with a bag of plantain chips, which cost me somewhere around $10 after tax. It might not seem expensive, considering the fact I only got a tiny mediocre sandwich it was very disappointing. Yes, $7 for a sandwich isn't too bad, but considering the fact the sandwich was only 6 inches and barely had anything in it, I wasn't very happy. I wouldn't have been too upset if the sandwich was actually good, but the pork was tough, dry, flavorless, and didn't taste like much even with the addition of copious amounts of mojo. Overall this is a really cool concept with an awesome patio, but the execution was very poor. I think this food is pretty synonymous with Colorado's approach to ethnic cuisine - flavorless, generic, and devoid of soul... don't kill the messenger...

Looking forward to returning to try another variety of sandwich and maybe a bowl. And for sure a Cuban coffee! I had the Minuto de Pescade, a fried Mahi sandwich with slaw and spicy aioli. I'd like a bit more slaw, some more crunch would be good. The sandwich size was fine with me, it did not feel tiny. Flavor was good, nothing overpowered the fish but was complimentary, with nice spice. Need more slaw though! I didn't feel it was chain-y in atmosphere, but I did take my food to-go so I didn't experience the ambiance for all that long. I liked the colorful door and the plantings outside are in full bloom right now (September) which is lovely. The sign states that they use local ingredients when possible, so that's good. Would like to know the provenance of the fish and meats.

Cuba Cuba Sandwicheria has been open for a little over a month now. They are a sister restaurant of Cuba Cuba in Denver. I stopped in today with my best friend to try the Cubano (for those of you who aren't familiar, roasted pork, ham, swiss, mustard and pickles!!!!). We were both really excited about the sweet plantains as well. We got there right as they opened and ordered up our Cubano's (extra pickles), Sweet Plantains and a Watercress salad with strawberry vinaigrette. They were out of the Cuban soda's which Hans was really upset about :/ Got our number, sat down outside in comfy-ish chairs and took in the 'vibe' if you will. It's a bit stark and feels like a chain restaurant - very modern, trying a wee bit too hard and reminded me of a Chipotle or Noodles & Co. Totally different feel than Cuba Cuba Cafe in Denver. No biggie, always entertaining to watch the Boulderites pile in with their spandex bike gear hot off a 12 mile mid-day bike ride. The Cubano was really tasty. The bread was great, very thin, crunchy on the outside and delicious on the inside. Had to throw some more mustard on there but I'm a bit of a fiend. The Watercress salad was pretty good but the strawberry vinaigrette didn't quite do it for me (for 6$ though it was a massive quantity of greens, bonus). The plantains were great, hot and just slightly crispy on the edges. Overall, glad I went to check it out but would rather head down to Cuba Cuba Cafe. Great for a sandwich on the go, not so great for the atmosphere (unless of course you enjoy observing the fantastic fashion mishaps of the Boulder bubble).

I liked Cuba Cuba - I had the Boulder cuban sandwich (vegetarian) - good blend of veggies that were cooked well (not too mushy), and the garlic sauce (mojo) they add to it is super tasty (and garlicky). I also had a side of fried plantains, which were not too sweet and had a great flavor. Atmosphere is cool - kind of minimalist with just enough colorful decor to keep it interesting. The chairs are great - shabby chic in different colors, and the big window in the front gives the place a great feel. Staff were all friendly and on top of their game. The food is a bit on the greasy side, but hey - it's not like I eat there every day, so once in a while for a tasty indulgence is fine.

I was pleasantly surprised. I think they're bring something fresh to boulder that you can't get at your usual sandwich places ... and the price is right ($7 bucks a sandwich). Atmosphere wise, like someone else said, is a bit chain-y but I think its a product of being in a strip mall. I thought they did a nice job with the open feel By the way, what's with the 1 review, 1 star haters?

Pan con lechon is my favorite sandwich! Especially with the extra garlic sauce. I never can eat the whole thing; too big and doesn't save well, probably because the slaw and garlic oil soak into the bread. Maybe add half sandwiches to the menu?

Delicious sandwiches, my husband thinks they are the best around. We've only been twice but each time, the owner/manager was terrific and always stopped by our table with something new to try, which is nice...Love the flan as well...need to try different types of sandwiches but we got the same one both times (forgot the name but would recognize it on the menu) and add their pork...yum! We would come more often if we lived in Boulder...not that we are that far away in Lafayette!

Having eaten at Cuba Cuba in Denver several times over the past year and a half, I was elated when I heard they were coming to Boulder! Initially I was disappointed it was only a sandwicheria but really, these guys have it pretty well nailed. My husband got the Cubano and I got the Pan Con Lechon. Plus fries plantains (our favorite appetizer at the Denver location) and Tostones, which we'd never heard of before and were told were like plantain fritters. The guy working the counter was friendly but about as capable as anyone in Boulder; a little bit loopy but well meaning. The kitchen manager answered a lot of our questions and was generally helpful and efficient, like a good kitchen manager should be. Everything about the food was great and satisfying. Nicely grilled bread, great flavors. Pork was tender and juicy, not stringy and over-done. Nice work guys. I loved the mojo aioli, it added a nice texture between the tender pork and crunchy cabbage slaw. My husband said his Cubano was also tasty though I have had a better Cubano off Hosea Rosenberg's sadly retired strEAT Chefs food truck. This one came close, but just didn't have the same volume of flavor. I actually did not like the tostones but my husband mowed them down to enh, to each their own. I do love their fried plantains and found them wonderfully similar to the Denver location, along with their delicious garlic and lime dipping sauce. I also opted for a white sangria which absolutely knocked my socks off: Dry start, sweet and fruity finish. Ho mama. Between our two sandwiches, two appetizers and my cocktail we came out around $22. Pretty darn good for a huge lunch! I will definitely be back when it's hot out and I need a mojito and a pork sandwich. Hopefully that will be sooner than later.

As a Florida native now living in Boulder, I've been on the prowl for some good cuban food. A friend told me about Cuba Cuba so I decided to take the family last night. I'll admit to a little disappointment. The food was on the greasy side (even for cuban food) and there was NO FLAN!!! Are you kidding me? C'mon Cuba Cuba, you MUST have flan - and please make it good flan - not that dense, heavy, over sweet, too sticky, commercially prepared stuff (like I bought at Ideal Market last night - cuz you didn't have any - and then promptly threw away after the first bite). We had the vegetable bowl, the pork bowl and picadillo. The picadillo was the worst grease offender. The veggie bowl was good but kinda sweet. The pork was tasty, cooked well and not too fatty. The BIG upside is that the plantains were perfectly awesome and the staff was delightful so we'll likely be back.

I'm not Cuban or from Florida, but I know a tasty sandwich when I meet one. The Cubano was delicious, and like other reviews said, the bread was great. Also, couldn't get enough of the fried plantains. Warm and the perfect combo of sweet and salty! I'll be back, for sure!

Pretty darn tasty quick service food...and in a flavor profile missing in Boulder. We had the Pan con Lechon (tasty roast pork with cabbage, peppers, and mojo aoili - good combo), Boulder Cuban (tangy goat cheese and nicely roasted/grilled veggies), Plantanos maduros...mmm, and Tres Leches which is a great sweet finish. Don't forget the cuban coffee. The Cortadito will wake up your afternoon. I think I might stop by just for another one today! Also, as to atmosphere - it was perfect on a Saturday afternoon with the big window open and the view. It's not a white tablecloth restaurant - but it was happy, clean, and the service was friendly. Our 9-month old daughter loved the mosaic tile ceiling.

I gave Cuba Cuba 5 stars because for what it is -- a sandwich shop -- it nails it. I have eaten there twice, and both times I have received delicious sandwiches, with bold flavors that are well balanced, that are meal-sized and great value at $7. I haven't had the bowls or any of the sides, but the sandwiches are excellent.

Never got a chance to see or eat our food. We ordered a cubano sandwich and lechon asado bowl to go and we asked for a refund after waiting 25 minutes. It seemed to be fully staffed but not very organized. Don't know if I'll go back or not.
