I work pretty close to the 29th street location and frequent this Chipotle probably 1 to 2 times weekly. It has yet to disappoint. As far as this location goes, it's incredibly busy. 90% of the time there is a long line. Luckily this store keeps a pretty full staff and they get through everybody very quickly. As far as the chain goes, I get really frustrated by their menu changes. I always get the soup & side salad or 1 taco & side salad - it used to be on the menu and no longer is. I am glad to say they still let me order it off menu.

This location has seriously gone downhill. Maybe because they're training new people, but the last few times I've stopped in here, the trainees who made my burritos were slow, inefficient, couldn't WRAP the burrito, so I ended up getting a mess of a creation. And the ingredients that are supposed to be warm (the meat) are now cold. Don't know what's going on with this place, but I used to come here and it was pretty reliably good. Now? Don't think I'll be back!

Very fast and efficient service, even in the longest of lines. They always have a smile no matter how busy and the food has yet to be anything less than stellar. The phone app is awesome, no matter what store you're near, allowing you to bypass the line. I'm surprised I don't see more of that when I am in line.

If you've been to one Chipotle, it's safe to say that you've been to them all. Their ingredients are awesome and responsibly raised/acquired/etc. - which makes me feel a bit better about life in general. The service is generally great, with loads of people in sight who are all fairly eager to make your visit heavenly. However, every so often, a location does not live up to the promise of the brand. Such is the case with the location at 29th Street Mall in Boulder. These chaps (and chapettes) use way too much cilantro in the rice. Seriously. It looks like a 50% split between rice and cilantro, which produces a flavor that is wholly overpowering and not that great. A little cilantro is fine, but it shouldn't overwhelm the delicate taste buds. And given that rice is such a huge part of the burrito experience, my meal was kinda wrecked as a result. Sadly, it would be very inconsiderate to ask them to pick out some of the cilantro (given the assembly line nature of the place), so I'll just have to go someplace else the next time I'm there. Shame!

  • Gluten-Free From A to Z.

FYI: Z is gluten-free (which mean as she can't eat wheat, rye, or barley) so our reviews are all from the gluten-free perspective. We care about how many gluten-free options the restaurant has and how helpful the staff is in dealing with our concerns. Gluten-Free Options: Everything at Chipotle is gluten-free except for the flour tortillas! (Just be careful about cross-contamination if you are really sensitive). Total From A to Z: 5 Stars A's Review: * * * * * It was really fun to see the employees spring into action when Z told them she was GF. One went and got a manager to verify that everything except the flour tortillas was GF. Next they changed the serving spoons for the beans (but if the beans themselves were already cross-contaminated then that doesn't really accomplish much), and grabbed the crunchy corn taco shells. Chipotle has lots of natural, antibiotic-free, growth hormone-free meat to serve, and their guacamole is really good. Z's Review: * * * * * When we went into Chipotle and told them I was gluten-free and asked what I could order, at first they had no idea what I was talking about. So I clarified and asked if any of their spices or sauces contained wheat or flour. It took them a while to find the right paperwork, but eventually they brought out an allergens list which showed that the only item at Chipotle that contained wheat were the flour tortillas! That's the way food should be! Don't go sticking wheat in where it isn't necessary! So, since they carried both crunchy and soft corn tortillas, there were actually quite a lot of options for me. They even changed their gloves to minimize any potential cross-contamination. I had some really delicious tacos and will probably go to Chipotle again for a quick meal!

Food Poisoning-- beware!! I thought I was dying after eating at this Chipotle. Had to go to hospital. Made a report to HQ online and their response was "did you give a stool sample" to prove you got it here? WTF. Won't go back

Considering it is a chain restaurant, Chipotle is pretty decent. I'm biased because there is a kick ass burrito place (Zia Taqueria) set up similar to the way Chipotle is in Durango that I am 150% loyal to, but I can give them some kudos. Their salads are my favorite thing on the menu, which is weird, considering I am usually a huge, meat filled burrito kind of girl. I guess it's just the combination of their dressing, meat, beans, salsa, etc. that ropes me in, I can't bring myself to order anything else. Their chips are great too, they're famous for them apparently, they are always made fresh with this lime salt that gives them a little extra flare. Chipotle is pretty damn good for a chain restaurant, they have a good thing going for sure. (And their free burrito day is pretty great too haha)

I know I am a simpleton for enjoying the burrito bol so much.... I know I know. And their chips seem like the most incredibly delicious chips I have had... ever. And it is so cheap. And the margaritas are so alcoholly and delicious and cheap. and the chips.. like.. that lime salt is wacky good. And the leftovers? PHENOMENAL.... at 1am or 3am, I am a fan. I don't know why this is my favourite chain place, let alone mexican chain. But it is, and I love it!

I enjoy Chipotle burritos. I've read a few other reviewers comment on the number of calories in a burrito. I usually get the chicken burrito and I think it has about 1200 calories in it. It is disappointing that you can't get nutritional information for their food on the website. Most info on the content comes from 3rd party sites. If you have the self- discipline, you can eat half the burrito for dinner and save the other half for lunch the next day. That makes for a 600 calorie meal which isn't too bad. My kids love it - plus as students they get free sodas. So, not a bad deal. The chicken burrito is $5.85. Pretty cheap all things considered. Take Chipotle for what it is - fast, consistent, inexpensive food that is quite tasty and you'll be happy with the experience. If you are looking for uber-healthy, gourmet, fancy dining - then this isn't the place for you.

Vegetarian-friendly burritos. Great for a large lunch/dinner and you'll always get the same good quality. Fast and fresh.

You know- I'm usually not a fan of chains, but the new Chipotle menu ("recession menu"?) is pretty awesome. All the options are cheap and healthy which was surprising. I like the size salad and Pozule however, I'm still an Illegal Pete's girl at heart :)

Chipotle has some amazing burritos, their food is always fresh. And i swear that this particular one tastes better than the rest, but that's just me.

Chipotle - Boulder 29th street Chipotle, in general as a chain, has the same sort of ambience everywhere: the strange juxtaposition of polished sheet-metal and faux Aztec gods, burrito in hand. This one however stands out from the rest in its strange elongated shape, which, while good for queuing, gives it a strange sort of feel, like a stretched and squished version of the standard. Nonetheless, and while this may seem surprising, the burritos (or burrito bowl, if you are into that sort of thing) ACTUALLY taste better than opposing places. Maybe the crew is especially hard working, maybe the elongated shape is more congenial to the burrito's essence - it is hard to say, but as it stands, this one is highly recommended.

Just a great place to grab a healthy burrito and chips with awesome guacamole. Yes, students get free sodas. The 29th street location is not as well managed as the location off Rte. 36 near Superior, however. Yes, NO LONGER owned by McDonalds, which probably means they care too much about quality and the environment and not enough about "the bottom line" for McD's to keep them. About Chipotle vs. Illegal Pete's, I could not agree more with some others that IP's is just so bland; it's almost like eating canned ingredients vs. fresh! Illegal Petes needs to step up and get better ingredients and better spices, not to mention make their locations less dingy. As for nutritional value, I think Chipotle is really quite healthy (and no contest at all compared to fast food super-size sodas, fries, etc.). If you are someone who doesn't get much exercise, just ask for less rice and get water instead of soda (it's those simple carbs that will lead you towards diabetes).

this place is good... they sometimes mess my order up by forgetting something.. like there was at least 3 times I ordered Guac and when I get back to my office .. no Guac... other than that.. they are fast .. food is bomb , fresh and tastes really good

I have been eating here regularly since they opened. As long as you go at a time when they are busy, you will get good food, but if you ever go at any off hours (say 3:00), the food will almost be guaranteed to suck as it will be old. I still give them four stars because once I realized how to game the system, I really have not had any bad experiences since. The food always tastes different it seems (no consistency in that respect), but it is still good so I can't complain.

I have two confessions: 1) I hate burritos 2) The first time I ate Chipotle (way back in 2005) I hated it Never fear, I have come to love Chipotle and even went through a withdrawal period when I lived in Connecticut. I love Chipotle for their delicious, quality ingredients. No matter what you order, you know that it's the real deal. I usually (okay, ALWAYS) go with the carnitas crispy tacos. They never disappoint. I'm also really in love with the rice... and they will always give you a big boat of it, as opposed to other Chipotles that try to give you rice in one of those teeny salsa cups. Thankfully, most Chipotles have the same excellent ingredients, but I like this location the best. There's plenty of parking and I can usually find a table whether I'm just with the BF or with a group of friends. The only annoying thing is that the tables are fixed in place, which makes it difficult when dining with more than 6 people. Normally, though, we just get creative with the chairs. Something else I really like about this Chipotle is that when they get busy one of the employees usually starts taking orders with this portable computer thing. Yeah, I'm nerdy to like technology, but I think it's really awesome that you can pre-pay (credit only) and then you're ready to order/pick-up at the counter.

I love, love, love Chipotle, but the main reason for my rating is due to the fact that I'm gluten-free, and Chipotle is one of the few places I can go with no worries of accidentally eating gluten. The staff are really good about changing gloves, washing their hands, and using new spoons when I let them know of my food allergy. And the one time a staffer didn't understand my request, a manager took over, remade my order and profusely apologized. Also, the margaritas are awesome!

I'm a huge Chipotle fanatic. I've been to majority of Chipotles in Denver and Boulder. Because this branch is closest to school, I go here pretty much every week - I was a regular customer. I would always get a steak burrito every time. I've always thought that this branch didn't put enough steak inside (usually half a scoop) compared to most other Chipotle branches. While I was pretty disappointed at that, I eventually got over it because I thought that they do this to every customers...until today. I found out that the guy that scoops up the steak actually discriminates how much steak he gives out, depending on the person. I've always had my suspicions but I definitely saw it crystal clear today. He scooped out 2 full scoops of steak...yes, 2 whole scoops...to the lady in front of me; but only gave me half a scoop. It was such an obvious difference in treatment, I felt like he was passively telling me to never come back or something. Being a regular customer for the last 3 years, I felt pretty betrayed and discriminated. I've never been so upset with Chipotle before. Conclusion: if you're an Asian American Chipotle fanatic, do not go to this branch. They will discriminate, and give you less food than you deserve. I will surely never come back to this branch again in my lifetime, and will be informing all of my friends about it.

The staff was incredibly unenthusiastic and slow working while there was a line out the door at 8:30. I waited in line for probably 15 minutes before I was greeted and it took another 5 to finally finish paying. This is unnacceptable since every other chipotle ive been to is really efficiant and the employees are speedy and energetic. No one working looked like they even knew what they were doing and the line defeated them to the point that they didnt even care how long customers were having to wait in line. Easily the worst chipotle experience I've ever had. I've worked at 4 different food jobs and I can easily say that these employees should be held to a much higher standard in customer service, especially with how busy this location is. Unbelievable.

This location usually has a long wait. Pair that with the meager servings they dish out and you end up with one of the more underwhelming Chipotle experiences you'll have.

  • Lan V.

This is one of my favorite Chipotle locations. The service is always speedy and they load up the toppings on your burrito. Other Chipotle locations are usually stingy about that. I usually order the burrito bowl with corn taco shells on the side, which is great because they usually don't charge for the taco shells. If you crave quesadillas, you should definitely try Chipotle's and get it with carnitas. It's delicious!

I used to write "best barbacoa in town" but they don't deserve that anymore. Yesterday went here for a late lunch. My wife doesn't like the way they cook the beans at locations closer to us, so this has been a detour for us. I'd even drive over from Westminster for lunch if I really wanted Chipotle. They were that good. Apparently they changed chefs. For the second time now, the barbacoa was very spicy but also, worst of all, salty. The chicken was much too fat according to my wife. And the rice was just marginally good. Keeping the patio clean and the furniture in decent shape seems to be an issue with a lot of Boulder restaurants. Sorry to see that Chipotle doesn't feel they need to set a standard. With regard to indoor seating, I wish they'd move the tables at the entrance to the wall so that people on line don't stick their hands in your food - it feels that close. We used to come here exclusively if we felt like having Chipotle (which was quite often mind you). Sadly, the expression "all good things must come to an end" seems to apply here as well. Unless this was a one time experience, we won't be back. P.S. If you're really hungry, insist on getting more food. Portion sizes have come down dramatically, kind of like Chipotle in New York.

This is what happens when you hire white people and understaff: long, slow-moving lines. Seating is also very limited, especially since half the tables are unusable in cold weather due to the draft that comes through every time the front door is opened. Otherwise, it's your standard yummy Chipotle.

I love this place, but depending on who is working I often feel cheated out of a decent portion. Some of the line workers have started a trend of making you the smallest burrito possible. Why are you getting cheap on rice and beans? I find myself asking for more rice, and more beans every other time I come in.

I absolutely love chipotle salads. When I realized guac came free with the veggie option I was elated. On my most recent visit (it had sadly been months) I was even more excited for my salad than usual as I'd been working hard to move contents of one storage unit into another storage unit. On this evening I was thankful that the line was not very long and there were tons of staff on hand. So many in fact that I inquired if employee training was being conducted (it was not). When I got up to the register I opted to add chips (after all we'd been working hard moving boxes etc for the past couple of hours). It wasn't until I had secured a seat at an outdoor table with the hot sauces lined up just so that I realized that the best part was missing - the salad dressing (the recipe used to be a bit better but changed about 1-1.5 years ago). I ran up to the register to inquire about the dressing and the staffer (presumed manager - by the name of Rex - if the 'host' name on my receipt is correct) informed me that they had 'been out of dressing for a long time'. With the number of staffers on hand this information really surprised me. I was devastated and had completely lost interest in my meal as the dressing is my favorite part. I'm definitely going to think twice before eating at this location again.

BEST CHIPOTLE IN THE STATE! I am always blown away and impressed by the staff at this Chipotle. It's always clean and QUICK. Plus everyone is so friendly! They look happy! It's such a pleasure for me to go in and not wait in a long line, be given quality food AND feel like I want the staff as my family. Come home with me for Christmas! Seriously love them all. Jenny (who was just hired) is a TOTAL standout. She is EXCEPTIONAL. She went above and beyond to make our dining experience incredible. 5 stars for this Chipotle because I felt like I was in a 5 star restaurant!

Great food as with any other Chipotle. However, I was pleasantly surprised to have employees and the manager of a fast food establishment approach my dining party and asking how are meals were. I'm from NY so it might be typical Colorado hospitality, I wouldn't be surprised. Nice touch.

Crazy, 3.5 years later and my review has not improved. This chipotle is always, I mean always busy. The bad times started about a month ago. Waiting in line with 5 people ahead of us, and it took 20 minutes to get a burrito bowl, come on! You're not even having to roll the damn thing, it's scooped into a bowl!!! So I sent a friendly email to corporate, saying jeez tiny portions, long wait and no one there seemed to care. I got a gift card for a free burrito, ohhhh boy! I go back to redeem that free burrito, and much to my amazement, the line is up to the door and doubled back onto itself. Jeez, maybe you should have more than 2 people working at 6 pm at night?!?!? So 25 minutes later and a few PhDs of the line, a new not so friendly email to the corporate office and I've decided that I am done with chipotle for a while. Lie and behold a coupon for buy one get one free shows up, bring the thrifty people we are, we head back. Make a plan, go right after work, 5:15- can't be too many people there then right? Wrong! That same scenario where the line is doubled back onto itself. So we walk in at 5:30, the wait is no lie,30 minutes!!!! How does that happen when everything is made ahead and in a steam table? So after 20 minute we get close to the spot to order and what do we see? 6 people and 2 managers setting up a training demo, 2 people working the line and a cashier.... So you guys decide that yes, let's train 6 new employees at 5:30 at night, and take up 2 managers time. So thus chipotle is known for the small portions and un-fair treatment of what you get size wise. I get up to the line, eager, it's lime a hot restaurant that you've been wanting to eat at, and the guy scoops a legit 1/2 cup of rice in the bowl.... Come on dude! You can raise your prices and then skimp out on servings, especially since it's only thus one chipotle! Finally go to cash out and I asked, why have 6 trainees and 2 managers doing nothing? I get the coined BS answer of how they're so busy and they are hiring more blah blah blah.... I'm sure if Steve Ells were to walk through the door, those managers would've tabled the training until, say there wasn't a 30 minute wait for a damn burrito with pre-made ingredients. I think it'd be worth the drive to downtown, pay to park and get better service at the other chipotle! Here's a thought, maybe open another store, close by. There like 4 Starbucks in a 4 blink radius, they know people will go, take a hint from another millennial fav Chipotle and open a new store!

The best thing is that it is all organic. Hence 4 stars. Tastes decent, not perfect hence one star less. Clean. Welcoming staff.

I am always impressed with the chipotle operation. They have a system figured out. Staff is always fast and friendly. And it's healthy eating an hour after everything else shuts down.

I feel like 3 1/2 stars for this chipotle is much to low. They are extremely efficient at what they do during the lunch hour and the food is cooked with love! Heaping portions every time and they are consistently friendly. It's probably my favorite one in Colorado and the great deal is an extra incentive to go at least once a week.

Wrong!

Otherwise, it's your standard yummy Chipotle.

this place got me sick with food poisoning twice. dont go here unless you only buying a drink. how can you mess up a chicken taco? well this chipotle did. i throw up as soon as it hit my settled in my belly. so gross

Ever since they only started to hire college kids the line moves SO slow. Even outside of peak hours. They used to be lightning fast, back in the day, at this location. Really annoying. Good consistent food comparable to any other Chipotle chain though.

Nice touch.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
