B&H is a welcome addition to the Boulder food and drinks scene. We went twice the second week it opened. It's primarily one cozy room, some more tables in the back hall connecting through to Black Cat and a small bar with a half dozen stools and a few more along the wall. The piano isn't just a prop; it gets played with skill. When the music isn't live, there's old jazz in the background (Django), trending towards old school hip hop after midnight when it's full. For food there is a 3 course pre-fix menu and a la cart small plates. Some things I've tried and really liked: buffalo sweetbreads with fresh herbs and blue cheese, beet steamed bun, any of their fresh salads. Why I really love that this place opened is that they are striving to do late night service till 2 am every night of the week. God bless. We are so looking forward to having some place to go on Monday for a cocktail and a small plate of interesting food after midnight. Their craft cocktail list becomes $5 each after 11 pm as well. One night we showed up around 1 am and the place was full (one table empty left for us). The staff was totally prepared for this late night rush, and all our drinks and food came out pretty quickly, with waiters checking on us plenty of times. Right before closing they gave us a round of amaro Montenegro for the table, which was a perfect finish; table service here is a treat. The other time I came was on a Thursday, earlier in the evening, and we sat at the bar. The bartender was perhaps a bit too focused on making drinks (gave us the wrong menu, used place settings in front of us weren't removed until we asked, also had to ask for water), but the place is new so I'll let it slide. Their drink program is very west coast in style, driven by incorporation of locally farmed ingredients (e.g., Fun Trip West = beet, bourbon, rosemary). She found some of the drinks that she ordered a tad on the sweet side, but she usually does. For one drink they were using ginger beer, instead of ginger juice, which again adds to the sweetness. The rye drink with with hazelnut is good, with absinthe but thankfully not too much. If they infused their rye with toasted hazelnuts (Frangelico is a bit cloying) it could live up to it's name even better (It's Toasted). But I really liked their twist on a blood and sand as well as the Welcome Pause (gin, cynar, cocci americano and becherovka). Cry a Little (brandy, grappa, amaro) was another great way to end the evening. And that's exactly what I'll do if this place doesn't survive.

Delicious cocktails & good ambiance. The last time I was in I ordered a Luxe Girl (gin, grapefruit, and ginger juice) which took some time to arrive for the right reasons... the bartender was squeezing grapefruit. Quality. The small plates do change based on what comes from the farm, some items better than others on various trips in. What I can say is I've never been disappointed with the various soups or charcuterie and going to a farm to table establishment is worth trying out.

If you're looking for a late night meal with a fresh, inspired menu, this is it! I never imagined spending $8 on a grilled cheese sandwich and then writing about it, but here I am!. They took a comfort food go to and turned it into an unpretentious gourmet experience. That alone is worth a return trip.

We (party of 2) went on a Thursday night and easily found a table at 7pm. Overall, the food was good, but nothing exceptional in terms of quality, flavor, or presentation. The one exception was the bratwurst. We ordered a "chilled vegetable salad", which we incorrectly assumed would be composed of vegetables. Instead, we were served cold cous cous and corn. Being gluten-free, we had to send this back, and found the waiter to be entirely unapologetic. We asked instead for the Detroit beet salad, which the waiter failed to inform us was covered in farro, which we also cannot eat. The service was painfully slow due to being understaffed. It appeared they had 2 waiters for the entire restaurant. Ours was doing double-duty as a waiter and bartender. It tooks us nearly 2 hours to get out. Despite positioning itself as the low-cost sister to Black Cat, the portion sizes necessitate ordering multiple dishes. Without drinks, our meal was over $50 (soup, salad, three meats). Given that, I would prefer to go to Salt, Kitchen Next Door/Upstairs, or a number of other restaurants. Credit to this restaurant for serving food from their own farm.

A super impressive bartender--their cocktail list seems to change almost daily, and both the two menu drinks and the bartender's choice were complex and delicious. Best cocktails in Boulder? The snacks were tasty too--I especially enjoyed the crispy fingerlings with mustard aioli and the house buffalo wings. The grilled cheese was good but nothing to write home about, and the dessert (the panna cotta, which was on the whole good) was, admittedly, much too small. The atmosphere is delightful--cozy and intimate--great for a date!

Planning a trip to Boulder to visit my CU student son, I decided to go to Bramble & Hare. I'm a fan of farm-to-table restaurants; I like to know how my meat has been treated. Cue "Portlandia" jokes. ... So I made an 8 pm reservation for two. First, the bad: We walked into a beautiful room, mostly filled, but with a couple of empty tables, said we had a reservation and gave my name. "Oh yes, right this way ... " and he leads us through and out of the beautiful room, into a stark hallway with a few tiny empty tables. Huh??? ... I will say that as soon as I showed displeasure - "No, I don't want to sit in a hallway" - we were immediately shown to one of the empty tables in the beautiful room. But I had to ask myself: Why? Why did they try to stick us in the hallway? I looked around. We were dressed as nicely as the other patrons. But everyone in the beautiful room was blond. Every. One. My son and I are Southern Italian - with summer tans. So, yeah, we are dark. Also, everyone else in the room was young. I am nearing 60. Young people only to be showcased? Blond people only to be showcased? None of the above? I don't know. But I do know it's bad, bad policy to attempt to stick people who have made reservations in a stark hallway when you have empty tables in a beautiful room. (I also noticed later in the evening, a couple came in without reservations and were told apologetically, "All we have right now is tables in the back." Again, huh???) Now for the good. Once we were settled at our lovely table, the staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. The atmosphere is very pleasant; I didn't find any pretension, and the waitress even asked us if we had any food allergies. (no.) We opted for the $29 three-course dinner, with three choices for each course. I can't remember exactly what we had, and the menu on their Web site is outdated, but I do recall that the only disappointment was an unremarkable mixed-green salad with almonds, goat cheese and apricots. I didn't finish it. My son's bruschetta appetizer, though, was fabulous, and from now on I'm cured of my "don't both get the same thing" policy. We both very much enjoyed our main courses. He had homemade gnocchi; I had shredded pork over polenta. I think they could have served a roll or two, but "bread" is pretty much a dirty word in Boulder. The pannacotta with homemade raspberry sorbet for dessert was excellent. I wish I could remember what my son had, but it disappeared so quickly I didn't even get a taste. I think $29 for three farm-to-table courses is a pretty good deal. I'd recommend Bramble & Hare to anyone, but next time I'll call for my reservation instead of making it online, adding the stipulation that "no one puts Baby in the corner."

Nice little place. They have an awesome and extensive wine list. When our server couldn't find a certain bottle we wanted, he searched for a similar one and it ended up being great. Everyone seemed to have quite a bit of knowledge of wine. The apps were pretty good - we ordered deviled eggs and the Welsh rarebit. The Welsh rarebit was probably the best thing we ate all night. For everything else, I think it was just alright. My entree (pork over creamy polenta) could have used a little more seasoning. My friend's gnocchi was pretty good. The vanilla pudding I had for dessert was also just alright. Seems like this place makes more sense to just order cocktails and appetizers instead of a full-blown dinner.

3.5* - in otherwords, I enjoyed my time here, but I'm not a "fan" and won't be stalking them out for another try immediately. We came with a fairly large group - was a bit difficult getting a seat. Eventually everything was straightened out, but it resulted in multiple requests for water, plates, utensils, etc for everyone. Food was good, although smaller portions. My DH's chicken was a bit red still near the bone. Drinks were good as well, although the bartender is very friendly so ask for something if you want an unusual option. Even for happy hour, prices are a bit high. Bathroom is cool, giant scale! Overall, another "artisanal" "craft" "local" "farm to table" Boulder place that should be on your list to try for yourself, but not sure it really rockets up to the top of mine.

visited bramble & hare while i was in town for a user conference at the St. Julien Hotel. Delicious local fresh food that won't break the bank! 3 of us were able to split 2 of the 3 course meals for $29/each plus we all got drinks ...all for less than $100 before tip! cannot beat that deal for sure. If they are still offering that vanilla bourbon drink, GET IT!

The inside of the restaurant was very cute and almost Alice and wonderland-esque. It's pretty small but has a full bar with pretty good cocktails. I'm glad their focus is farm to table but none of the dishes wowed me. I had the beet and Gorgonzola salad and the beef pot au feu and they both were good but nothing special. The carrot cake was pretty good. I'm hoping they add better options to the menu.

A friend took me here while I was visiting Boulder. We were parked at the bar for maybe 4 hours. The bartender and chef were incredible. The atmosphere of this place blew me away. When I go to sleep this is the place I dream of eating and drinking at. It is the bar I judge all bars by.

Sat down here last night with a bit of trepidation owing to the several negative reviews. After finishing, I found myself wondering if the detractors had even been to the same restaurant. Cocktails were top-quality. I had the Conejito Rojo, which was really pleasant and nicely showcased the flavor of the tequila. Next up was a "bartender's choice," which is an option that more cocktail joints ought to offer. I just told them that my favorite drink is a Sazerac, and a few minutes later, out came a delightfully smoky, intriguingly herbaceous, and appropriately stiff Sazerac variant. Color me impressed. Food was excellent. For the most part I am befuddled by other reviewers' gripes about small portions. Sure, they're small if your point of comparison is Marie Callendar's or the gatdang Cheesecake Factory. But the chicken wings were a perfectly reasonable amount of food for the amount they charge (and delicious to boot!) -- ditto the super-tasty fingerling potatoes. The grilled cheese sandwich was downright large. In fairness, the panna cotta dessert was comically tiny. Overall, a great experience. Our server was prompt and cheerful. The setting was just lovely -- simple but not too simple, cozy, calm, just enough lighting. Recommended, unless you have a problem with great food and drinks just because the vibe is decidedly Brooklyn-bourgeois.

We thought Bramble and Hare was fantastic. Their 3 course dinner for $29 is great food for great value and certainly makes farm-to-table an affordable option. The place is intimate and quaint; there was a live pianist, lots of dim lighting yet people were dressed casually. Not pretentious at all. We will definitely come back when we're in the area.

Have you ever been out late with a friend, and then he/she invites you to another friend's house (that you haven't met), and when you get there it turns out you've hit the aftermath of a party, with a few people still chatting and/or sobering up enough to go home, and your friend disappears into the bathroom, and somehow the homeowner hears you're hungry, and they immediately offer to fix you up a plate of something, it will only take a few minutes, and then you're kind of stuck sitting awkwardly in some stranger's living room, with a view of the kitchen where someone's doing something for you that you didn't expect and feel slightly guilty about, and you sit there smiling hesitantly at more strangers? Bramble & Hare is kind of like that. It's a tiny place with an industrial-yet-homey feel. There's just a handful of tables and a section of booths that runs around a corner that's totally a sofa, a piano!?, and a tiny little bar, where you can see EVERYTHING that's going on in the miniature kitchen. Seriously, MY kitchen and countertop were bigger than that area! We wandered in here late on a Sunday night after leaving a nearby Yelp event. I was hungry again, it was a long drive home, and The B&H was open really late with a late-night food menu. It had a cheese plate on it. I was sold. The cheese came promptly, heaped with apples and some sort of nut and other fruits, and some thin slices of perfectly toasted toast. B. ordered head cheese, which isn't cheese at all, so I'm not sure why he would want it, because why would you want inaccurately named cheese when you could have the real thing? We chatted with and watched the bartender, because there's really nowhere else for him to move, and had an interesting technical discussion about vermouth. Also, I liked their barstools. Usually I hate sitting on them because it leaves my legs dangling like I'm some sort of 6 year old in an adult sized chair, but these had several layers of rungs that allowed me to comfortably prop my feet up and level my lap out. I'd probably go back, but only late at night and if it wasn't crowded - I'm sure it gets crowded a LOT faster in there!

I honestly wish I could give this restaurant more stars!! The chef, the server, the busser, the hostess EVERYONE was absolutely amazing here. The food was incredible, we got the 3 course pairing menu and everything was creative with great presentation. The interior is quaint and very cozy. We went in to celebrate a special occasion with friends and we were all completely blown away by the 5 star service and humble nature of the staff. Please make this a destination if you're in the boulder area!

I was invited here for a business dinner. I wouldn't have thought to pick this place myself -- reviews were mixed and the menu looked a little fancy for my tastes -- but I'm very glad we ended up here. Everyone at the table was very happy with the food, and the cocktail aficionados at the table were quite pleased with the drinks. I ordered the chicken confit, which was succulent and falling off the bone. The portion sizes were a little smaller than the norm, but between an appetizer and an entree I definitely got enough food, and appreciated that I didn't end up feeling stuffed. Our server -- I think her name was Shayla? -- was terrific. Really no complaints. I'm looking forward to coming back again, and perhaps upping the rating to five stars!

I stopped in for dinner on my own one evening and had a couple of small plates (their cheese plate, the deviled eggs, and fritters), they were good. They were good - I'd go back and try their 3 course dinner option. I also had the panna cotta dessert, absolutely delicious. The Bartender was great and quick to offer suggestions, which I personally love. He also made a mean cocktail and recommended an awesome followup glass of wine. I'll be going back.

I wouldn't give this place even one star if I didn't have a choice. Horrible. Horrible food, drinks and portions. Plus the bacon was so burnt it left a horrible taste in my mouth that lasted for way too long....this should never happen with bacon!!! It's f'ing bacon! Plus the waitress was horrible and looked at me like I was psycho when I asked for a rum and coke.

Overall, I think that this is a great option in the increasingly crowded farm-to-table genre in Boulder. The $29 3 course farm dinner is plenty of food, in case you are wondering. We felt obliged to partake of some of the small plates (which were excellent), so we had a bit too much. The cocktails were very good, and I was a fan of the beer list as well. I can't pass up a Houblon Chouffe. I was very impressed with how non-rushed our dinner experience was. Also, I found our server to be completely non-pretentious and friendly. If you are on a tight schedule though, I would recommend mentioning it to the server at the start. I am only giving 4 stars because of our seating arrangement. We had 6 people and were in a booth in the back. It was painfully cramped, which became an issue during our 3 1/2 hour dinner. If you can avoid this booth though, it's a 5 star experience.

  • Jeff C.

Pleasantly surprised at the great food and value. The meals are rustic, but yet refined. I felt like I was eating a home prepared meal at a friend's hunting cabin. The cocktails were well crafted, but a bit overpriced...although this is an unfortunate trend for most of Denver/Boulder. The $29 fixed price option is a bargain and helps keep a dinner for two under $100. The décor is great and the service was top-notch. One of the back booths would be perfect for a dinner meeting or intimate celebration.

Service is definitely lacking here. Our check wasn't brought out till after we waited more than 10 minutes without a plate on the table, one item wasn't even served that we clearly ordered on there elementary checklist-style menu (yes we were charged for it), and we had two waiters which ended up being very confusing. I will say, they did replace one cocktail I ordered that was disgustingly bitter with another one of my choice, and the manager apologized for the missing item. Still, there needs to be more cohesiveness. I love the farm-to-table aspect and the style of the place. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars still is because the food was delectable and interesting.

  • Stephen B.

This place is so pretentious, I'm not sure what else to say. I was there for a wine tasting two months back and stopped by the bar for food afterward. I inquired about an ingredient in the mac 'n cheese since I have a food intolerance. The answer I received in a snarky tone was "we are a farm to table restaurant so we cannot be sure." Frankly I'm not sure what that has to do with the ingredients in dishes. The sous chef hadn't prepared the mac 'n cheese but I still don't think that's a valid reason not to know what is in what they are serving. Don't they have one recipe to follow. With all the prevalent food allergies I think they should know what's in the food they are serving.

Best drinks and best Bartender (Griffin) in Boulder.... They take at least 60% of my total Boulder drink budget.

Fantastic drinks, but a high school attitude. Some of the staff are amazing, but others just take down the whole ambience. I don't want to hear about who you're sleeping with or the drama associated with it. I'm there to enjoy some stellar booze and a grilled cheese sandwich. If you're not sitting at the bar, you'll probably REALLY enjoy this place.

The bramble and hare staff are happy to let you in late and give you a bill, but that's where the service stops. My party had drink orders taken, but drinks didn't come out for a solid 20 minutes. The waitress skipped over my order entirely after letting me know that my first choice wasn't available. I flagged someone else down to order something else, but when it didn't come out with the other orders, I had to ask to have it taken off the bill. After the long wait, we had maybe 15 minutes with our drinks before drinks were physically removed from people's hands as "5 minutes" was being verbally reiterated within our hearing. As we complained that we were unaware of the rules and still had four minutes either way, multiple servers said to our faces that they didn't care if they had misled or upset us with the lack of service. If they couldn't reasonably serve us, we should not have been admitted. Other bars close early to avoid treating people poorly and ensuring a good experience. They clearly just wanted our money and didn't care about anything else. There are plenty of places that care about customers and more than their take on one night...those are the places I'll go in the future. I look forward to visiting whatever replaces B&H when they inevitably shut down.

Pretentious service, overpriced food and drink. Does B&H truly understand hospitality? Get out of the kitchen chef, your staff is giving you a very bad name!

Holy Brooklyn. If you like your artisanal, bespoke tinctures meticulously crafted by a mustachioed, owl-tattooed, geek-glassed "mixologist" in a hand-tooled leather apron, then this is the place for you. We moved from Brooklyn to Boulder and, wow, this place has nailed the Williamsburg-Greenpoint clichés better than the archetypes. Just, it's not in Brooklyn and it's not 2001, so hurrah for social scene time machine museums. Despite that, the food is great and the drinks are excellent. I have a soft spot for the pretentiousness that is the intentionally unpretentiousness of the hipster clan and, provided you can stomach a stout ration of irony served over locally sourced farm-to-table ice, you, too, will love this place.

Love overpriced small portion sizes that a starving child would even frown at? The bramble and hare is your type of place. It specializes in a menu that will clean your bank account by the time your full from their Lego size portions. Unless you love smelling your own farts, don't go here. My wife and I went here on valentines day and their happy hour is not happy.

My partner and I came for an impromptu dinner on a Wednesday night and had a lovely time, but other reviewers are correct: someone at this restaurant really needs to train the service staff properly. We had a nice time because we like each other's company and weren't in a hurry, but the service was slower than slothlike. I had the bramble salad and a mac and cheese side for my main course, and my partner went for the 3-course menu with fried cod appetizer, pork entree, and cheesecake for dessert. We both had delicious cocktails with fun names (I got This Old Man and he wanted A Welcome Pause, which we joked was a good summary of our relationship). Here's how that went for us: We order. 10 minutes pass. My salad arrives. 5 minutes pass. Our drinks arrive. 5 minutes pass. His appetizer arrives. 10 minutes pass. My entree arrives. 5 minutes pass. His entree arrives. 10 minutes pass. His dessert arrives. We would have ordered another round of drinks, but a) no one asked and b) we didn't want to wait that long. We arrived at about 8:00 and were there until 9:30, and we weren't exactly lingering over our food. If the courses had arrived normally - you know, drinks, appetizers at the same time, then entrees at the same time, then dessert - we would have been through our meal in half that time, easily. That said, the slowness was really our only complaint. The food was very, very good and arrived hot. We raved about the cocktails. We tasted everything on one another's plates and were very happy with all we ordered. We loved the decor. it's quiet and cozy in there and you can watch the kitchen, which is fun (and tiny, which makes me wonder if the wait for food isn't simply because the kitchen is too small). The waitstaff was pleasant, if largely absent and ignorant of the menu. And there's a giant scale in the ladies' room that says Honest Scale on it, and it pegs me at about 40 pounds less than I actually am. Who am I to argue with an Honest scale? All in all, we had a very nice night. It helps to imagine you're in Paris or somewhere where a different type of customer service is expected, but we fully intend to go back. Just not anytime we're ravenous.

I recently checked this place out with a small group while visiting Boulder last week. We walked in and sat down-- the only people in the place-- and were excited to see happy hour listed on a chalkboard with a couple of drinks listed. The service sucked immediately. There were a bunch of people apparently working-I guess setting up for the dinner shift?- but barely seemed to notice us. When someone did come over to take our order, we asked about the happy hour and she literally shrugged and said she didn't really know "what was up" with the happy hour since they "just started doing that." Ummmmm-- seriously??? She also she they were "probably out" of the two drinks listed on the board. Even though the place only opens at 4pm and it was about 5pm?? That was all the info we got. She never bothered to ask anyone else or mention it again. I was immediately rubbed the wrong way. Then only some of our drinks were delivered and the bartender had to walk over and confirm the rest. We were still the only people in there. The drinks were OK (not terrible- hence I added a star). Maybe we would've stayed for more than one round if the happy hour had been real or if we would've felt like they wanted us there at all.

This place gets two stars for a really kind host and waitress and ambience. It really saddens me to write this! I was soo wanting to love this place! I love the concept of a cozy place with a rotating menu based on the local farm connected with the restaurant. We were so disappointed. We were so stoked to see vegetarian dishes but really let down. We got this radish dish.... Came out as barely warmed radishes with a dollop of cold soft butter... It didn't taste decent or even make sense. I really love salt! Love salt! But... Our other dishes were so salty I actually winced while eating. The beer selection was excellent... So thank god had something good to wash it down with.... Dessert wasn't bad just bot great, amazing , wonderful ... Take your pick. Terrible disappointment, off night for the food... Will never never go back again.

Very disappointing food. We ordered the farm dinner prix fixe. Our turnip salad had zero dressing and seasoning, absolutely dry. Just some Bibb lettuce . Arugula, like 3 shavings of turnips, and a little cheese. No oil no vinegar no lemon no salt, no flavor. Our entree was a "braised "pork shoulder with beans, I think they were crAnberry beans, but it didn't matter because they weren't cooked ! Hard beans, in edible . Plus the pork was not good. It was dry and seemed to be tossed in Apple cider vinegar , not a sauce, just straight vinegar , not good. We left all the beans on the plate and had the server clear it . She didn't ask if we liked it. She didn't care. The cook in they're stupid little kitchen didn't care and the chef next door at black cat doesn't seem to care either. They could have a good thing going with serving late night food that is interesting , but they have dropped the ball. It wouldn't take much to make the food decent, just some supervision , seasoning and getting feedback from guests .I've had food there 3. Times and none of it was good. The drinks are great . Always good. Drinks get 5 stars but the food is so bad they only get one overall.

A late-night sister of super farm-to-table resto, Black Cat, this little bar has a bit of a 1920s feel, what with the piano up front and the cozy little rooms nestled around the bar. I am really excited to find a place in Boulder that stays open later than 10pm because that has been really hard to come by. I come here primarily for the cocktails - the waitstaff and bartenders are all passionate about what's on the list and I've come to really take their suggestions quite seriously. The New York's Handsomest has become my favourite but they're all good and well thought out. I haven't had the prix fixe meal but there are lots of interesting bites that rotate through the evenings. One of the best was a foie-gras stuffed doughnut with an orange-influenced glaze. Delicious. One of my favourite watering holes in the Boulder area!

The same farm-to-table source as the Black Cat next door. A cozy quiet and affordable place where you can find a table any time. One of our favorite places in Boulder we eat there frequently and always enjoy it.

Sorely disappointed in Bramble and Hare. The service was downright awful. There were literally more employees in there than customers and we had to ask to order, ask to get a drink, and ask for our check. The food was mediocre, mine was flavorful but greasy. My wife's food was chewy, and left unfinished---which is hard to do as the portions are very small. It was a terrible experience, a true let down, as the farm to table dinner idea is one I'd like to support. I grew up on a farm (true story) and have never left the table hungry, wish I could say the same for B&H.

I loved this place. The food is fresh and creative and comes in tapas portions. The prices are very reasonable. I'll be going back there again. We just happened to stumble into this place because we found a parking space close by.

Awesome bar. Possibly my favorite in Boulder. The wine & beer selections are excellent, and there is an amazing selection of spirits. The bar food is delicious, with a few gluten free and vegetarian or vegan options. There are generally only about 8 or so options to choose from as far as bar food goes, but they are all high quality and delicious. Just note, they are very small. They have $10 bartender's choice drinks. I've only gotten one. I unfortunately forgot what it was called, but it was the best cocktail I have ever had! It was some kind of dark purple cocktail served with gin, up. I couldn't have asked for a better drink. The staff is friendly and helpful without being distracting, and there is a piano that anyone is welcome to play. Note that it is a lot more expensive than other bars, but it is also a much better experience, as you are unlikely to find the sort of crowd you'd find on, say, the Hill. If you actually enjoy alcohol, this is definitely a place you need to try in Boulder.

I love this place. It is a little gem run by the owners of the Black Cat, the excellent farm-to-table bistro next door. Bramble & Hare is a great place to go if you're looking for a quiet chat, a great drink, and tasty snacks. What always blows me away is the knowledge of the wait staff and bartenders. I am into drinking whiskies (bourbon or scotch), and every time I come in, I get to try an new one, often one I've never heard of, and I have yet to be disappointed. This last time, I had Four Roses Small Batch, and I liked it so much I bought a bottle for my house. The food is also great- it's comfort food at its classiest. Try the grilled cheese (the best I've ever had; you wouldn't think a grilled cheese could be this amazing), or the lentil fritters. If you're a cocktail person, their menu is quite good, pricey but worth it. The décor is perfect- sheepskins on the chairs, cozy leather benches, and a piano available to play. If you're looking for an upbeat, or super-modern experience from your bar, this one is not for you, but if you want to sip on a classy drink, and be able to have a great conversation, this is the place for you!

I read the comment on the slaughter house decor, andI was so intrigued I had to check it out for myself. I liked the ambiance here. I thought it felt comfortable and different. Went there for late night food and drinks.. Service was pretty slow, considering it wasn't that busy.. but the menu was unique and the drinks were creative and tasty. It's Boulder people, not the West Village, but at least restauranteurs are trying new concepts. Farm to table any way you slice it is better than freezer to plate (a la the more corporate options like Cheesecake Fact or Pasta Jay's. Oh, and they have an old piano that they let me play, so I'm a fan of this place already.

I almost didn't come here because of the mixed reviews, but I'm glad I did. I'm town for a week, visiting new places that have cropped up since I left 5 years ago. This place met my farm-to-table sensibilities, and the cocktail list looked interesting, so I popped in. I was the only person there at about 6 pm on a Wednesday night, and immediately a woman came from behind the bar and welcomed me. Since I was just there for drinks, I took a seat at the bar. Another gentleman appeared and took my drink order. The bar is right next to the kitchen, so you can watch the chef preparing all the plates as you sip your beverage. I stayed for another cocktail, and feeling hungry, I ordered the cheese plate. It came with three different cheeses - Humboldt fog, an Asiago, and a third cheese that I can't recall. They were all very tasty, and were served with raspberries, pistachios, walnuts (I think? they were finely chopped, so I couldn't really tell) and fresh crusty bread. I can't comment on the table service, but as the place filled up, it seemed to me from my perch at the bar that the server had a good handle on things. She was in constant communication with the chef regarding customers' preferences. I recommend this place for their tasty, well-balanced, innovative cocktails and personable bar service.

Bramble and Hare is my new favorite, especially for fellow industry peeps. First and foremost, the hospitality here is absolutely divine! They treat you as if you are guests in their home. Friendly and very knowledgeable waitstaff. Had the mac and cheese with pancetta (lovely) and the strudel with the house-made vanilla ice cream was mouth-watering. Great, simple wine list, great cocktails, and all-in-all a literally flawless evening at this gem. The decór is simple, cozy and inviting. A very small place with probably the smallest kitchen I've ever seen, although some dishes such as desserts come from the Black Cat next door. There's a cute little piano in the main dining room for anyone to play and the rotating liquor shelf with the huge chain is a wonderful piece of art. I would highly recommend this to all my industry friends especially since their kitchen is open til 12 on weekdays and 1 on weekends (bar is open til 1 on weekdays and 2 on weekends but theyll stay open longer on weekdays if it is busy) and I am one who works dinner service and always want to get a drink and some lovely farm-to-table fare after a long shift. I will be back soon bramble! Cheers

Hey you should come here! But only if you want to be drowned in a sea of pretension and trampled by a stampede of high horses. Cocktails are good, I suppose...but the experience is tainted by the stuffy vibe.

Went here for drinks after eating at Black Cat next door. Save your money and just go here. Bramble had super friendly staff and great bar tender. Made us amazing drinks and brought us delish dessert when we mentioned it was our anniversary. Comped the whole thing after our lackluster experience at their high end venue next door. Bramble was very cozy, service was great. Can't wait to go back and try the food. Highly recommend cocktails and bar tender.

Positives: Bramble and Hare is still a farm-to-table restaurant like its sister restaurant, Black Cat, so even the cocktails are based on what's growing in the garden. The cocktails I tried were incredible (Keep Me Handy and It's Toasted). They mix their own Falernum (spices, simple syrup and rum) which made the Keep Me Handy. The It's Toasted had Rye, hazelnut and egg whites: super original, super tasty, and super strong. The cocktails were innovative, fresh, smooth and I felt pretty damn good after just two at $5 each! Their late night happy hour at 11pm definitely is a great date place as well as fun and lively. The server, while clearly new at his job, was attentive and informative. Great service for novices. Negatives: Let's be real people, the place looks like it based its decor on a slaughterhouse. The "pillows" on the booth side of the table are white burlap sacks hanging from thick ropes, there are furs laying across some of the chairs, there's a giant metal chain on a pulley behind the bar, as well as a ridiculously dirty glass mirror unframed. I lost my appetite. However, I ordered food anyway. The Mulefoot Pork was very bitter and seemed like it was trying too hard: too many flavors in one dish. The Buffalo Sweetbreads were just an odd combination: buffalo sauce and beef glands=not right. We ordered the grilled cheese as well, and it tasted great, I just felt like half the sandwich had cheese and the other half had the leeks and bacon. For some reason, it wasn't mixed together or even. The good news is, the menu has to rotate seasonally! Overall, I will probably go back for the fresh cocktails, and keep a lookout for new food items. I'll just have to be drunk first to get over the slaughterhouse decor.

Atmosphere ++++ Food +++ Service ++ Nearly ideal atmosphere for dates; catch-up with a good friend; solo diners The table area is eclectic, quaint, farm decor...piano in sight. I expected to be further impressed by the food than I was... nevertheless considering they serve a menu that continues through early am hours its a very welcome healthy real-food addition to sparse to late-night options. I ended up here for a last minute solo late-night dinner on my birthday... service lacked timing & felt rather impersonal. I waited 10 minutes or more for any acknowledgement from a server. On several instances the bartender seemed more attentive than my server--responding to eye contact and made an effort to say goodnight / thank you on my exit. Bar area visually disappointing; fluorescent lights barring from the kitchen. A little design help could work wonders... integrating the bar area better and making it feel as comfortable as the main seating area.

Excellent wine and good food, though you could basically get the same food at Whole Foods for a lot less. Meal was very delayed. Only one cook present.

Avoid! This was a bad choice for date night. We got to the front door, and there was no host to greet us (the service really didn't seem to know what they were doing, or care, or both). We stood waiting patiently, while I young college aged coupled pushed in front and around us and made a beeline to the only open table in the place - had a short dialogue with someone at the bar and happily seated themselves in front of us. When we were finally "addressed" by someone that may have been a host, she explained that you can just seat yourself (in a tone that suggested we should've somehow known that all along). We stood at the bar for a while, and weren't acknowledged there either. The place had an heir of pretention, in general, and the food we did happen to see in front of those who had been served didn't look appealing. We ended up going to the Kitchen which was a night and day difference from B&H and our night was salvaged.

Our drinks were good... and that's it. Food? trying too hard to be unique and way overpriced for what we got. We ordered the grilled cheese with pancetta. While it was a pretty good grilled cheese(hard to mess up butter-lathered bread filled with cheese), I couldn't even notice the pancetta and for $10 you can get a much bigger and better grilled cheese elsewhere. The prosciutto skewer... it's really a strange mix of vegetables with 3 tiny pieces of their prosciutto, which didn't taste like any prosciutto I've ever had, and I grew up with an italian mother (we ate our fair share). We also had the apple salad, which was a lot of apples and not much of anything else. Nothing special, flavor-wise. I've also never been served a mixed bourbon drink in a stem glass... no man wants his drink in a stem glass UNLESS its wine or a martini. c'mon man! The only good thing besides the drinks? I complained about the food and they didn't charge us for any of it. Which is good because I didn't really feel like I ate anything.

We stopped through Boulder for a day and ended our night at Bramble & Hare. We sat at the bar and had a few small plates and some drinks. The bartender was nice, but was only as chatty as we were. It was just such a nice experience and exactly what we wanted. The small plates were great (the ragu and the lentil fritters), and the drinks were excellent. We ordered some beers, a couple of our own cocktail choices and a couple "bartender's choice" cocktails, all of which were excellent and worth the time. All of that and nice music made for a lovely time.

Meh. It was interesting, but not worth the $$ in my opinion. The server that night barely knew her name, every interaction was confusing and painful. Just sitting down and ordering was an ordeal. I felt sorry for her. Went there on a date, and we ordered the 3 course dinner. The food was okay-ish, but nothing spectacular. I mean how creative is lettuce with apples? Big whoop. I felt like every dish was mediocre and not very outstanding. Stick with small plates and drinks, so as to avoid being disappointed.
