Big City has a great selection with tons of options and great deals. My favorite is Tuesdays were you can get a potato burrito and drink for around $4.50

OMFG. Big City Burrito is grubtastic! If you happen to be near one ANYWHERE, I highly recommend trying it out. Get a basic potato burrito on any of the delicious tortillas with cheese, ranch, and the salsa of your choice. Simplicity is the best advice I can give for these delicious treats. My meat-eating friends love the mole chicken. Keep in mind that if you overdo ingredients, your burrito will be a spewing mess. But I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed if you get POTATOES and ranch. It is a must here. I first fell in love at the Fort Collins location. Now that I work in Boulder, I frequent the Big City Burrito, and for the most part, the end result is as good. However, there is some magical nostalgia associated with standing in a half-block sized line on College Avenue in Fort Collins waiting to get your burrito on. My only complaint is that the staff clearly does not take time to clean the hot sauce bottle collection at the end of the work day, which would be a nice gesture. Some of the bottles get crusty and it's pretty disgusting. But, all in all, when I am truly hungry and want to OD on calories, Big City Burrito is my top choice. The ingredients are always fresh, the level of spice is flexible, and the food is consistently spectacular. Soooo good.

Having spent 2 years in Fort Collins I can attest to the rave reviews for Big City Burrito. However, there is something about the Fort Collins BCB that the Boulder chain just doesn't have. Perhaps it's the fact that it's a chain. If you have every been to the original you know that it's not just about the burrito, it's also about the crowded, dirty, slightly cynical atmosphere. I went nearly every Tuesday for Phat Tuesday's (potato burrito special), so I am not able to comment on any food item besides that. I go for a regular, white tortilla, cheese and onions, corn salsa, ranch, and guacamole. Five stars hands down. However, I was disappointed upon attending the Boulder branch. It's trying to be too...normal (?). The cheese isn't sliced, and it's that fake shredded garbage (they never put enough on--they are pretty stingy about other condiments as well!). The potatoes are over cooked, and they don't nearly drowned the burrito in enough ranch. I feel like I have to coach them every time I'm there. Still, the burrito is better than any other fast food place--so I would recommend trying it out. But if you can--head north.

This is where I go when I want a burrito, in my opinion, it blows all other burrito chains out of the water. My go-to burrito: Regular Jalapeno cheddar tortilla with Monterey jack cheese and carmeled onions. Side of Potatoes. Beans and rice. Chile Verde. Pico, House hot, and Ranch. mmmmmm....

Love this place! While The Fort Collins location is definitely the best and their strawberry habanero sauce is awesome, I still go to the Boulder Big City at least once every two weeks. I've tried potato burritos at multiple restaurants and none of them were even half as good as Big City. If you're looking for great flavor go with a super potato on jalapeno cheddar tortilla and add hot green sauce, ranch and pico. Trust me its awesome. Some people think this restaurant is gross and dirty but that's kind of why i like it. (Hopefully they still adhere to basic health codes though!)

Being from NM I generally have high expectations of burritos, especially breakfast ones. I've been pleasantly surprised with Big City Burrito's offerings. They have a wide range of choice for both sizes and types of tortillas as well as fillings. Their chicken was tender and flavorful and the potatoes are right on. I was even blown away from their "green sauce", which for me should be roasted green chile (from Hatch, New Mexico) and that's it, but this one was really good with poblano and some other peppers in there. I'll agree with what some others have said that the way they present their menu is a bit cluttered and confusing. They'd be better off with a menu board and a number of popular "pre-built" named burritos and a make your own with a list of ingredients, but i figured out their grid system eventually. Once you've been there once it doesn't really matter anyways. I had quick and friendly service from individuals who seem to be excited about their products and are proud to talk to you about them. Try and find that at Chipotle! I was even given a free sample of their habanero sauce. Not a big deal, but when you're trying to win over new customers that can make a difference. The inside could use a little more attention, but honestly the decor looks no different than most local burrito places I've ever been toom that aren't full blown restaurants. A cooler for random drinks, soda and coffee machines, a TV to keep you occupied if you have to wait. A few tables. I don't think they are super concerned about their dining experience since I'd imagine 95% are taking their stuff to go and it's not like they are in disrepair or disgusting. People are calling it a chain, except that they have only 10 locations and 9 are in CO. That still is pretty local and for me, demonstrates the success of the product. It may be different than the FoCo original, I wouldn't know, but if I want a burrito of any sort here in Boulder they have my attention and business.

Best quick breakfast in town. The breakfast burrito without meat for less than $5 is a must. The potato burrito is the bomb as well. The chicken mole & chicken bay leaf are delicious as well, but because of the former two, I don't get in for those as often lately. I love the variety of choices in tortillas. I do wheat, tomato chile, or jalapeño cheddar. Big city Burrito has an excellent burrito experience.

this is my favorite burrito ever. so sad i want them to open one in los angeles. i would open one but i dunno how to run a restaurant. maybe i can learned how to do it. this burrito is so tasty i was eating here for two meals a day for days in a row until other people there started to look at me weird. at least i thought they were in my head. i was thinking maybe they are thinking why is this guy always coming here. because it was so tasty. thats why

Let me start out by saying that I'm not a big fan of burritos, any burritos. I know it's quite the anomaly, a Mexican who doesn't like burritos... anyway I just have to say I am absolutely in LOVE with BIG City Breakfast Burritos! With so many choices of tortillas (I recommend the Jalapeno Cheddar) , and toppings there's really no wrong combination. I especially favor that each topping is separated prior to its insertion in your burrito, equating into delicious, fresh and never soggy potatoes, onions cooked just right, and eggs cooked to perfection. I opted for Salsa de Lupe and a hefty spoonful of jalapenos. Yum yum. I have already biked there before work to fill an order for my office-mates, and I'm sure I'll be doing it again soon.

Great burritos, but when they say they close at 9, they mean they lock their doors at 8:30 so the workers can go home by 9. Uncool!

This place really surprised me! Looking into the restaurant, I didn't expect much. No customers in sight, a "help needed" sign hanging sideways on the window, and dirty rugs rolled up outside the front door... I wasn't very hopeful. However, at the end of my dining experience I was thoroughly impressed. As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed by a guy who seemed like the manager. He was very sincere and eager to explain the menu. He showed me everything, a large selection of different veggies, sauces, and meats and was super helpful with my questions and requests. I would give the customer service 5 stars. The food was great. The fried potatoes in the burrito made it awesome. I give the food a 4. I gave the atmosphere a 1. But the fantastic customer service and good food made it a great experience. I'll be back. Timmy out.

I would normally give 5* all day long. However this morning I was extremely disappointed to find that at 720 they weren't open. Their website says they open at 7. I was informed when I arrived they do not open until 8. Please change your hours online so as not to disappoint others. Thank you.

Wow, this is the first burrito which I really liked recently! My first visit too. I ordered one with potatoes (which are fried), yum. Every so often I crave a burrito and often this place comes to mind in the Boulder context. I'm sure the ingredients are pretty low quality, but still, yum.

Maybe it's because I lived in LA for four years, but Big City Burrito felt average at best. The prices are right, and the burritos are certainly big, but the ingredients lacked creativity or even interesting spices. (I went for the steak burrito.) This place seems to be ranked as the best burrito in Boulder, which says a lot about the Mexican palettes of Boulderites. But at least it's better than Illegel Pete's.

I like businesses that stick to what they know. Their strong points are fried, crispy potatoes in their burritos, cookies, amazing carne asada, and "nacho" cheese sauce (it's more saucy than cheesy, but still a plus). Their weaknesses are customer service and presentation. All and all it's consistent.

I ordered two breakfast burritos online. It was a drop down list type deal, making it for a quick and simple order. I paid online, so when I picked the food up, that was it and I was on my way. The breakfast burritos themselves were very delicious, and at such a great price! Will definitely be frequenting this place!

I have been a customer here for 4 years. I always order the exact same thing. In the past 2 years, I have had to remove gluten from my diet, and here is where my disappointment with BCB began. They do offer bowls, so I can still indulge in my weakness for their potato burrito. 5 out of the past 10 times I've been here, they have been out of bowls. With the growing need for gluten free options in this town, they really need to stay on top of it. When I do get a bowl, they have put the potatoes straight from the fryer onto the styrofoam, which burns the foam and put god knows what chemicals into my food. They consistently do this, even though I have repeatedly asked them not to put the potatoes down first. I've asked the same guy, multiple times... how high do you have to be to be employed here? My main complaint is that every. single. time. i have gotten a bowl with the exact same ingredients, the price is always different, ranging from $5 to $10, also even if the same guy is running the register. I really don't understand. Unfortunately, my addiction for their potatoes and chipotle ranch keeps me coming back despite all that.

Yum City Burrito is what this place should be called. I would argue they have the most exciting and delicious vegetarian burrito option in town! The veggies aren't just the typical peppers and onions, they ask if you want mushrooms, there are still peppers and onions and I think cabbage as well. The different types of tortillas add a special spice to the burrito and their sauces are excellent too. I'm only disappointed I didn't try their food sooner! I like that you can choose tortilla size because it gives you the choice to avoid the burrito-induced hangover you get from places like Chipotle. (Don't get me wrong, I love Chipotle!) Eat local at a better cost!

I'm a burrito snob. Plain and simple. I also wouldn't make the following boast unless I had tried every burrito I could find in Boulder. Big City is a bit shabby, the staff a bit curt when busy and occasionally the burritos are a bit messy. All true. But the food is consistently excellent. The flavors are bold and spicy, the cheese melted goodness and the cilantro fresh. I've tried a few variations but the super spinach mole with half house hot and half lupa(?) sauce is a masterpiece of burrito flavors. Do yourself a favor and wait until after rush times to go. All the customer service nonsense (it's a burrito joint , what do you want?) goes away once the staff can breathe a bit.

The food was great but the experience with the staff was unpleasant. I ordered and while it was being made heard the guy making my burrito say "what a fucking idiot". The person I assumed to be the manager quickly assured me he was not talking about me, but I was still astounded that the employee wasn't even told to not speak like that in front of a customer. Burrito was very good but it was quite an odd interaction overall. For what its worth, the employee wasn't friendly when I accidentally order out of sequence as well. Theres tons of burrito places in boulder that all pretty much dish out the same stuff...service is the key. Won't be back.

Stumbled upon this gem while on a short stay in Boulder. All I can say is... *vinegar stroke*...so.freaking.good. The tortilla is packed with flavor, and they melt your choice of cheese directly onto the tortilla for an intense punch of cheesey goodness. I added potatoes to my order which was a solid choice. The house hot sauce was bomb, and I added smokey ranch. You can't go wrong with this place! Super casual, fast order, great service. I'll be back

I'm really not sure *how* to review this place. But I'm gonna give it a shot. This is a burrito/wrap place more than authentic Mexican, so I nuked that category like Jack Bauer shoots terrorists in '24': without reservation. Pluses: 6 different kind of tortilla (white, wheat, tomato chile, pesto, spinach and jalapeno cheddar), fresh ingredients (sometimes prepared right in front of you), vegetarian options, breakfast options, juicy-lookin meat, actually listening when I said "light on rice, please", 2 different sizes of burrito tortilla (10" regular and 12" super), asking if I wanted mushrooms on my veggie burrito. Minuses: No 'order menu' above the cashier counter (or posted on the wall; they are about 6-8 plastic laminated menus in a wall holder. You guys must be fun to deal with come cold/flu season...); male wait staff either apathetic or clowning around near hot skillets and all in public view. I had the veggie burrito, and while the ingredient list looked impressive, I was not impressed with the amount of veggies grilled, the limp handful of cheese sprinkled on my tortilla (thanks for not asking me which kind, honey; you must totally get by on that sultry Salma Hayek look), the 1 1/2 lines of sour cream squirted off the end of a caulking gun (you get more slopped on at Qdoba/Chipotle) Uniqueness: Well...everyone raves about that potato burrito. And the veggie burrito was pretty tasty, dripping with roasted veggie juice when I got home. I'd say the most unique thing about this place is the 40-50, I kid you not, different kinds of hot sauce they have available, from mild to genital-scorching, I imagine. Really fun names on some of these, too, like "See Dick Burn" and "See Jane On Fire", and "Ass Kickin Hot Sauce" and "Liquid Stoopid Hot Sauce". And so on. :) If you're getting your burrito to go as I did, you'd have to unwrap it to slather hot sauce on, and since my tortilla was already absorbing juices, I didn't want the whole thing to fall apart on me. If you're dining in, it's probably excellent. It's like Qdoba or Chipotle, but...different. Some ways good, a few ways not so good, and some ways...just different. A good place to get some grub on.

I have been back in Colorado for about a month, and have been too busy to do any reviewing, but now that the dust has settled, I must bequeath my first official Colorado-resident review to the epic BCB. I have to agree with my good friend Sarah S. that it isn't QUITE the same as the BCB in FoCo where we spent so many hours in line during college, but eff it. I'm not going to pick at the differences in atmosphere when the real treasure is those calorie-laden gutbombs known as the potato burrito with ranch. On jalapeno cheddar. With cheese and onions, duh. And more ranch, while you're at it. Nothing compares to that first bite. Oh, except for the last few bites, when the bottom of your tortilla has been saturated with ranchy goodness.... no matter how ill-advised it is, there is no way on earth that I cannot eat it all in one sitting. It must be done. Those last few delectable bites are so worth the inevitable discomfort that will follow twenty minutes later. Big City Burrito, my food-baby gut and I will always love you. It's so good to be home.

This place makes a top notch mission style burrito. The potato side is an amazing addition to any burrito. the house hot sauce (green) is delicious. Jalapeño cheddar tortilla, with a side of potatoes and the chile verde is my burrito of choice.

To quote Usher, "Oh. My. God." LOVE this place. Sure, it's in a strip mall. And yes, the inside is a bit grody. And I know, real Mexicans would never put fried potatoes and ranch dressing in their burritos. But they should. Multiple flavors of tortilla, a dearth of delicious fillings both meat and veggie, six kinds of salsa.....and it's CHEAP. Lots of tantalizing options but I say go with the special, which is potatoes and ranch, and add some black beans and salsa. One of my favorite discoveries from my most recent trip to Boulder. As long as you are not expecting your meal to be "real" Mexican food, you will be fine. You will be more than fine. In fact, you may give up "real" Mexican all together and call this your new home. I wish that Big City Burrito would find its way to this big city. Que rico!

I used to live a couple blocks away from Big City. I ate there at least 3 times a week! Amazing burritos with 100's of choices of hot sause on the tables. The carnitas are my favorite, always fresh, and you have to add potatoes!!!

Oh my god. I thought I'd had good burritos, and then I went to Big City and got their potato burrito. Oh my god. Make sure you get the caramelized onions and cheese. Add steak if you want - it's awesome - but the potatoes alone are enough. If you like spicy sauces and salsas, and I sure do, you will think you've died and gone to heaven with all the hot sauce selections!

I found myself starving, while running some errands, and decided to give Big City Burrito a try. First thing I noticed, other than the friendly greeting as I entered, was that it smelled pretty darn good in there. I just wanted something to hold me over, so I ordered a Carne Asada taco, with sour cream, guacamole, no beans, and their extra-hot sauce. It was more like a double-taco, really, and I have to say it was excellent - really above and beyond the quality I've come to expect at similar eateries. It was all I could do not to go back and order more! Service was fast, friendly and courteous, and the food was superb. There's absolutely no excuse to go to some nasty chain like Qdoba or Chipotle, when there's a place like this that will really feed you. Will definitely return whenever I'm in the Boulder area.

GET THE GUT BUSTER!! But only to share with someone else. My bf and I go here occasionally and split the gut buster and it is AMAZING! I love that they melt cheese and caramelized onions in between the jalapeno cheddar tortillas before even making our burrito. I love that they add potatoes and all the goodness you can put into it. Highly recommended, especially if you are hungry, or better yet, starving! It is also reasonably priced. Like others have mentioned, the customer service can be lacking significantly, but at least the food makes up for it! The owner is a little of d-bag honestly, at least the few times I have seen him in the place, but he is rarely there. Gotta try it!

Nom. I friggin' love burritos. I eat them once, twice, maybe even three times a week. I really like food items wrapped in a huge tortilla. So when I discovered this place on my way to a ski swap in Boulder, I had to stop. Big City Burrito is small, shabby little restaurant that serves up steaming hot, tasty burritos. Think Chipotle or Qdoba, but just A LOT cheaper. You can choose your size of tortilla, your burrito insides and they even have potatoes for the side. Because who doesn't love potatoes? We were pretty hungry so we each got our own burritos. Plus, Leo's HATE sharing. At least, that is what I have heard. ANYWAYS, I went with their signature veggie burrito. Complete with fresh grilled veggies, rice, beans, corn, salsa, guac, ranch, sour cream all wrapped in a pesto tortilla. Get the ranch, it is a good idea. Along with the potatoes. Both our burritos were delicious and we were so full! They were also playing some sweet tunes and were super friendly. The guy making our delicious burritos was helpful and explained all the options. And he gave us extra potatoes, yay! I will be back whenever I am in Boulder and looking for a burrito to eat (which is always).

Upholds the classic and delicious tastes of the original ft collins spot however the service fell way short. I ordered a super breakfast burrito and got the same amount of eggs and potatoes I watched him load on the regular size right before mine. When I pointed that out and asked for more, he picked out two small bits of potato and tossed them on saying that's it without charging extra. The burrito was still great, but the sour taste of poor service added a bitter contrast.

My first Big City Burrito was eaten at the original location in Fort Collins in 1998. I quickly became a huge fan and eat it as often as possible. We live in Golden now so the closest location is probably in Boulder. I've eaten at all of the Big City locations and have found that the Boulder location is definitely the best franchise and might even be better than the original location! The other locations aren't very good so we pretty much just go to Boulder or Fort Collins. The only thing to love about this place is the food. It isn't about the atmosphere or the charm. Definitely get a potato burrito, and you can also add a side of potatoes to any burrito. My favorite burrito: Jalapeno cheddar tortilla Little bit of cheese Rice Beans Side of potato Side of veggies (Boulder grills veggies one order at a time!!!!!!!) Corn salsa (lots) Ranch Guac The meats are all good, too. My husband gets the chili verde and I'm always a little jealous of his burrito. I hope Big City is always around so please support the small burrito shops! :-)

Meh, This place could be better. I was in a need-mexican-food-now mood and thought a burrito would be good. I appreciate that Big City Burrito has a variety of options. Different types of tortillas, multiple meat selections, and 1000 types of hot sauce. But for all those options, this place seriously lacks flavor. Even though I packed my burrito full of what I thought would be delicious options, it came out blah. Pretty bland, nothing special at all. I think they need revisit their recipes and add some kick. Big City Burrito also lacks charm. Everything from the boring sign out side to the boring set up inside screams boring burrito. There just seems to be no effort put into the feel of the place. Jazz it up a bit? What I have said against the place in food quality and atmosphere, it has in customer service. We walked into this place pretty close to closing. Chairs were already put up on tables and mops were ready for scrubbing. Despite this, they were friendly and happily served us. Even a dude that showed up way past the posted closing hours walked out with a burrito to go. If only this customer service energy could be applied to the food and decor. Like I said, could be better though.

I am a big fan of Big City Burrito. I first had it at the original location in Fort Collins and was totally hooked. I love their variety of tortillas, choices of fillings, very fresh veggies, potatoes, and especially their strawberry habeñero "soul sauce." We don't live near Fort Collins, so we have to settle for other BCB locations. While none are quite as good as the original, they all come close. Then we tried the one in Boulder. This was the first location we really felt the individual ownership of each franchise. My boyfriend and I each ordered a veggie burrito. The veggies were sliced differently, were drenched in oil, and were not nearly as fresh as we expect. They also piled about 1/2 the normal amount on each burrito. Then, when it came time for sauce, I asked for my usual: the soul sauce. The server launches into a diatribe about how they don't have it, that each location is individually owned, and they have to PAY for the recipe (the indignity!). But that they have plenty of salsas, and I just need to pick one. I asked for sour cream only. So, we paid for our burritos (1/2 sized, full priced), and ate in the dining room. We couldn't find a clean table, so we wiped one down ourselves. They didn't have nearly the array of hot sauces you can find at other BCBs, but the selection was okay. The burritos were even greasier than they looked. They didn't have any of the distinct flavors or textures that we had come to expect from Big City. Overall, it was a massive disappointment, and in a town with so many awesome places to eat, we will be sure to never visit this Big City Burrito again.

Don't hate the Big Chitty. You know you love the super potato burrito...how could you not? This has been one of my favourite solid lunch destinations ever since I started working in Boulder, and I really hope that by reviewing it I don't curse it, a la other reviews (Sam's, may you rest in peace.) Anyhow, sure..there's no atmosphere (unless you count the dozens of sketchy looking bottles of hot sauce lining the walls, which I DON'T) and sure, there's hardly anywhere to sit, and sure, there's always a line, and sure, the kids that work there are surly as all hell, but that's why we love it, people! Just do yourself a favor, get a potato burrito, with a nice little dollop of ranch dressing, and you won't look back. If you're feeling particularly spicy, throw on some chili verde. mmmmm I want one right now. oh and Pro Tip: If you order your burrito on their website, not only can you pass go and directly collect your burrito, you can ALSO name your beloved creation (which is awesome, because they usually write the name on the burrito's foil) get a burrito already!

The Burritos here are cheap, filling, delicious, and thee is a ton of variety to choose from. Sure, the staff is a bunch of snotty teenagers who don't care and aren't paid enough- we've all been there, right? Lots of veggie options, different types of tortillas to chose from, and when you order fresh veggies they actually freshly saute a bunch of veggies (all types, not just peppers and onions) right in front of you. Veggie burrito is under $5,

Big City Burrito is a slightly unique variation on the Americanized burrito restaurant. I found it similar to Chipotle, but inherently better since it is not primarily owned by McDonald's. The original location is in Fort Collins, and this place is and always has been a student favorite. I believe they have 3 or 4 locations in CO now. It gets packed at lunch, so try to go before 12 or after 1 if possible. The specialty here is a potato burrito. Yeah, pretty weird for a specialty. The potatoes are like breakfast potatoes with heavy seasoning. The potato burrito comes with, uhhh, potatoes, caramelized onions, sour cream, and cheese. They also offer meats including carne asada, chicken mole, chicken bay leaf, carnitas and chile verde. Note - I read in a review online that the carne asada is more like stew meat, so I would avoid this option. Damn, makes me miss Southern California and perfectly cooked, thin sliced carne asada... You can also choose to add meat to your potato burrito, or you can order a regular meat burrito and add potatoes. The major difference is that the meat burritos include options of Spanish rice and either black or pinto beans. Check out the website for a full breakdown of the burritos and options: bigcityburritoboulder.com You first have to choose from one of the seven tortilla options. They warm the burrito with the cheese on it which is a nice touch. They then add generous amounts of beans and rice, but a rather small amount of meat (slightly less than an ice cream scoop). Next comes a large amount of potatoes. From there you get to pick from the four different salsas (sounds like Chipotle no?) and you can add sour cream and/or guacamole. Note to all the vegans out there that they add sour cream to their guacamole. Seeing as this was my first time here, I went with the carnitas burrito and added both potatoes and guacamole. The total for the burrito came out to $7.50. My burrito was absolutely huge and was actually quite tasty. The carnitas was a little dry, but had good flavor; I just wish there has been more of it. Given all the dry items on this burrito, I would recommend having them add extra extra green sauce, which adds flavor and wetness without a ton of heat. They also offer 40 or so bottled hot sauces of varying exoticness, but I stuck with my tried and true Chalula. The burrito was tasty, but not extraordinary. For me personally, I prefer a real authentic burrito, so while these Americanized options are okay, I can not recommend them. To be perfectly honest, you could make the exact same burrito at home from a Safeway shopping list. Star 1 * Huge Portions Star 2 * Variety of Meat Fillings Star 3 * Offering a unique take on Americanized Burritos

Potato Burritos!!! Yes... you yelpers you heard me correct.. Order the Potato Burrito with Ranch sance topped off with one of the hundreds, yes hundreds of hot sauce bottles you see lined up against the walls. The burritos were so good, after the first bite I wanted to open burrito stand in LA specializing in potatoes. ohhhh sooo yumm... To the owners, you didn't have saracha! Which is the foundation to an asian diet.. big no no.

The ordering process is unnecessarily complicated, the staff is rude and obnoxious, the portions are small compared to the competition, and the burritos are borderline gross. Surprisingly, Big City Burrito in Boulder can't even match the formulaic burritos dished out by Chipotle and Qdoba. Given the choice I would take a 69 cent bean burrito from Taco Bell over this place.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm shocked and dismayed that there are so many negative reviews of my favorite burrito place! So here's my two cents. 1) I love Chipotle and never thought it would be surpassed in my heart by some cheeky little upstart burrito place. But Big City did the impossible. I agree with the other reviewer that they are almost without comparison since they are very different. If you're craving Chipotle go there, if you're craving something new, try it. 2) I've been here a LOT and never had an issue with managers or employees. 3) POTATO BURRITOS people. If you love potatoes, you WON'T be sorry. A few additional comments: they have way more selection than most burrito places, they have awesome breakfast burritos, and yes, the portions are huge, so bring a friend or ask for some extra tin foil.

I always feel WAY too full after eating here. (Which could be a good thing if you're looking for big portions.) When I decided to stop in for "dinner" (at 4PM), I was still digesting pizza from lunch...which might be the reason I feel EXTRA full today. I love their chili verde. I'm not really sure what's in it, but it's pork with some sort of sauce that makes my entire burrito tasty. Being able to choose from seven different types of tortillas is what keeps me coming back to Big City Burrito. I have yet to try their potato burrito because their non-potato burritos already make me so full. I'm scared that my stomach might explode after consuming a potato burrito.

You know. I really like Big City Burrito, if only for the Spinach Tortillas for my burrito. The workers there sometimes are "distracted" by other stuff, but it makes for an entertaining situation of "did I put enough sour cream and guac on his burrito?" internal dialogue that gets played our externally. The burritos are reasonably priced, but if you put on extras it adds up. If you really wanna go nuts, hit the Hot Sauce smorgasboard around the restaurant. For me, Big City is a "reward" for not spending over $300 at Boulder Ski Deals across the street.

People like to rave about Big City (see the Ft. Collins ratings), but it's just not to be. I've tried three locations, and they're all the same. And it's one thing that the folks at Burritophile.com are right-on about: ho-hum burritos that you're expected to jazz up with a ridiculous assortment of bottled hot sauces. That's not the key to a good burrito, folks. But I digress. There are some very good aspects of this place that save them from one-star banishment. A choice of not only tortilla types (such as whole wheat or spinach), but sizes as well. We all know most Cali-style burrito joints serve up huge bricks that weigh your belly down like a...huge...brick. Big City gives you not only the usual 12" shells but 10" as well. Two inches doesn't sound like that much on paper, but they hold just enough less filling inside to make them just about perfect for anyone but a football player. And they melt your choice of cheese on the shell *before* putting the ingredients on. I virtually never get cheese in mine, but if I did, that would be a big bonus...melted cheese just adds a little more "scrumptiousness" to a burrito. They're mostly known for their potato burrito, which I haven't had, but some swear by it. Maybe I'm missing the one reason they're rated so highly, but I try to look at the big picture when rating a restaurant, and frankly...I just don't want a *potato* burrito when my burrito-craving kicks in. So, let's see...do they offer grilled chicken? Nope. How about fajita vegetables? Nope. They have a weird vegetable concoction consisting of zucchini, cabbage, and carrots. Um, okay...no thank you. Unusual seems to be the thing here...they have a "chicken bay leaf" steam tray that they advertise as being like chicken soup. A chicken soup-flavored burrito. Mmmm...no. Or the chicken mole, which bears no resemblance to any mole sauce I've ever had...it's hardly flavored at all, much less sporting a rich, thick, chocolate-infused burst. I just never come away from Big City with what I really want. The fixings (e.g., pico de gallo) aren't especially fresh looking or tasting, and that's a big problem. Mmmm, guac out of a caulking gun, my favorite. Sure, go nuts with the bottled hot sauces to repair the burritos, but what's the point in that? Burning your tongue to escape the blandness? I can get a better base burrito elsewhere that doesn't need doctoring. But like I said, there are some good ideas here, and they have carved a potato niche apparently, but they really need to punch things up a bit to get my business. We tried and tried to like this place, but eventually gave up. More potatoes for everyone else, I guess.

While one of the better burritos in Boulder, this branch just can't compare to the Fort Collins original. No less, I rarely leave unsatisfied especially after ordering my usual: regular carnitas with a side of potato rice, black beans corn salsa + pico de gallo + ranch + hot sauce

the owner of this establishment is a straight-up a-hole who yells at his employees for using portions that are too large right in front of the customer (me). the result? wrinkled turkey-neck burritos and somber tails-between-their-legs employees who don't talk. this is unfortunate because the burritos themselves are delicious and i would go back there if it wasn't for the aforementioned owner. stick with the fort collins BCB. or if you can't travel and need a potato burrito, illegal pete's.

Overall, I'm a fan. The burritos are quite decent and have a home-made sort of flavor that is simply absent from Chipotle and Qdoba. The carnitas tastes like carnitas; the green chile is surprisingly tasty; the chicken mole is delicious even if it doesn't taste like actual mole. The steak option is bland and slightly stinky, but I avoid that. Fried potatoes are seasoned well and crispy. Guacamole is padded out with sour cream and severely subpar. Salsas tend to be good; the green house hot sauce is tasty and the tomatillo salsa is a good pairing with carnitas. Beans are strictly average; no refried beans, only whole pinto or black beans. The tortillas are not exceptional, but interesting options like whole wheat and tomato are available. The finished product is generally good. When I want a burrito, it hits the spot. My fave is a carnitas burrito with potatoes, pintos, no rice, tomatillo salsa and house green hot sauce. The prices are lower than the competition, but it's obvious where costs have been cut. Service is mixed. The burritistas don't stare at you uncomprehendingly when you say you don't want rice, and actually offer extra beans in compensation without being asked first. That said, they seem to be under the impression that a 9pm closing time means "everything put away, ready to walk out the door and get high by 9pm sharp". I got some passive-aggressive 'tude the last time I was there, and that was 8:30pm. No run-ins with owner to date.

3.5 stars: I like Big City Burrito a lot. At BCB, you have a nice selection of tortillas and meats to choose from that aren't available at Chipotle and Illegal Pete's (like carnitas, chicken mole, wheat tortilla, etc.). Perhaps my favorite thing is their potato burrito and option to put potatoes in any burrito you want. The potatoes are cooked just right and change the complexion of the burrito in subtle yet delicious ways.

Why? Why do they put sour cream in the guac? Honestly! For all the people who use guac as a sub for dairy, adding sour cream makes the guac inedible. And really, if you can't have something moist and creamy in your burrito then what's the point? I went here a couple time and while it was nice to have fried potatoes in the burrito, overall it was bland and dry. Yuck.

Uncool!

When I decided to stop in for "dinner" (at 4PM), I was still digesting pizza from lunch...which might be the reason I feel EXTRA full today.

I ordered two breakfast burritos online. It was a drop down list type deal, making it for a quick and simple order. I paid online, so when I picked the food up, that was it and I was on my way. The breakfast burritos themselves were very delicious, and at such a great price! Will definitely be frequenting this place!

Big City Burrito never disappoints. I usual get the 10" white tortilla with fried potatoes, carnitas, Monterey Jack, a little rice and black beans, house salsa and cilantro. Great stuff.

Que rico!

Pico, House hot, and Ranch. mmmmmm....

Yuck.

Veggie burrito is under $5,

if you like your burritos: 1) with beans from a can 2) with ranch dressing then yes, this place knocks it out of the park! i am different. i like my burritos to remind me i am eating Mexican food rather than some botched genetically deficient distant cousin who didn't know his hand from a hole in the ground. someone's grandma needs to make some serious beans and feed them to all the staff. it doesn't take much longer to make real beans that taste amazing than to pour them out of a can. and where the heck did this ranch dressing thing come from? this place is a true anomaly.

The hot sauce selection is awesome, but this place ain't no Illegal Pete's.

the owner of this establishment is a straight-up a-hole who yells at his employees for using portions that are too large right in front of the customer (me). the result? wrinkled turkey-neck burritos and somber tails-between-their-legs employees who don't talk. this is unfortunate because the burritos themselves are delicious and i would go back there if it wasn't for the aforementioned owner. stick with the fort collins BCB. or if you can't travel and need a potato burrito, illegal pete's.

Big City has a great selection with tons of options and great deals. My favorite is Tuesdays were you can get a potato burrito and drink for around $4.50

Still amazing, low-brow, unpretentious, and easily the best burrito shop in town. Yes, I still hit Chipotle, Qdoba and the taquerias, but NOBODY beats Big City for tastiness and variety. With Big City, Tiffin's and Tossa all in a line now, you've got 3 of the most killer cafes in Boulder just steps from each other. Go!

First time here and tried to eat vegan. Potatoe burrito with veggies pintos and rice. A lot of burrito and good. Not great. Prompt service and several choices of hot sauce on the counter to help spice it up.

I have never had problems with the manager as other have mentioned. I actually talked to him once and he seemed like a decent guy. The potato burritos are awesome. Prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly. I highly recommend coming here.

Big city Burrito has an excellent burrito experience.

this is my favorite burrito ever. so sad i want them to open one in los angeles. i would open one but i dunno how to run a restaurant. maybe i can learned how to do it. this burrito is so tasty i was eating here for two meals a day for days in a row until other people there started to look at me weird. at least i thought they were in my head. i was thinking maybe they are thinking why is this guy always coming here. because it was so tasty. thats why

Potato Burritos! Are you kidding? This is so good I can hardly stand it! You can get whatever you want in these burritos, and kind of wrap! The ingredients are fresh and the staff is friendly. Whats not to love? GO!!!!

Que rico!

Pico, House hot, and Ranch. mmmmmm....

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(5)John A.
(5)Sea C.
this is my favorite burrito ever. so sad i want them to open one in los angeles. i would open one but i dunno how to run a restaurant. maybe i can learned how to do it. this burrito is so tasty i was eating here for two meals a day for days in a row until other people there started to look at me weird. at least i thought they were in my head. i was thinking maybe they are thinking why is this guy always coming here. because it was so tasty. thats why
(5)Sasha B.
(5)Alex J.
Great burritos, but when they say they close at 9, they mean they lock their doors at 8:30 so the workers can go home by 9. Uncool!
(3)Timmy L.
Timmy out.
(4)Charlotte C.
I would normally give 5* all day long. However this morning I was extremely disappointed to find that at 720 they weren't open. Their website says they open at 7. I was informed when I arrived they do not open until 8. Please change your hours online so as not to disappoint others. Thank you.
(3)Brian K.
Wow, this is the first burrito which I really liked recently! My first visit too. I ordered one with potatoes (which are fried), yum. Every so often I crave a burrito and often this place comes to mind in the Boulder context. I'm sure the ingredients are pretty low quality, but still, yum.
(4)Miles H.
(3)John D.
Emailed owner re: food poisoning in a direct but civil way. No response in a month. That attitude is pretty consistent with how this outfit is run.
(1)Tyler G.
(4)Annie Z.
Good price and burrito
(4)Jennifer W.
I ordered two breakfast burritos online. It was a drop down list type deal, making it for a quick and simple order. I paid online, so when I picked the food up, that was it and I was on my way. The breakfast burritos themselves were very delicious, and at such a great price! Will definitely be frequenting this place!
(5)Jenn M.
Authentic, tasty burritos with surprisingly good ranch dressing. I love that they have a wall of hot sauces to choose from!
(4)G P.

Great mushroom veggie burritos
(4)Jessica M.
(5)Alex K.
(5)Chris M.
(3)Joseph C.
Great choice for lunch today! I couldnt decide what to have for lunch, but this place hit the spot for sure! Lots of choices and well priced. Good stuff!
(4)Ari H.
I miss you big city. Please open in NYC. I'll franchise with you guys please!!!!!
(5)Nicole L.
I'll be back
(5)Ashley B.
sooooooo good! don't get me wrong, I love chipotle, but this place is amazing. support local businesses, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
(5)Stephen K.
(3)Kate M.
(5)Matthew G.
This place makes a top notch mission style burrito. The potato side is an amazing addition to any burrito. the house hot sauce (green) is delicious. Jalapeño cheddar tortilla, with a side of potatoes and the chile verde is my burrito of choice.
(5)Tory w.
Que rico!
(5)Christopher C.
I love this place, used to go here all the time. Where do you start? tons of choices of everything, potatoes all shorts of meats and salsa plus don't forget the hot sauce.
(5)Andre O.
I used to live a couple blocks away from Big City. I ate there at least 3 times a week! Amazing burritos with 100's of choices of hot sause on the tables. The carnitas are my favorite, always fresh, and you have to add potatoes!!!
(5)Jen G.
(5)Coyote O.
(4)Alex L.
(4)Chase G.
Big City Burrito never disappoints. I usual get the 10" white tortilla with fried potatoes, carnitas, Monterey Jack, a little rice and black beans, house salsa and cilantro. Great stuff.
(4)Heidi C.
(4)Andy W.
(3)Mitch F.
Best potato burrito in town. I love the potato burritos, and my favorite meat is pork chili verde. The staff is much more polite than they used to be!
(5)Ian V.
Friendly staff, inexpensive, and Delicious!!! Holy cow. I lived in SF and loved Mission burritos, but this stuff is better in terms of flavor, ingredients, taste, and options. Definitely will return! :)
(5)Briana G.
(5)R G.
(3)Mikki M.
Potato Burritos! Are you kidding? This is so good I can hardly stand it! You can get whatever you want in these burritos, and kind of wrap! The ingredients are fresh and the staff is friendly. Whats not to love? GO!!!!
(5)Dev A.

Bomb breakfast burrito and good combinations available

(5)Ali M.

(3)David N.
Which is the foundation to an asian diet.. big no no.
(4)Graeson N.
(1)Betsy H.
if you like your burritos: 1) with beans from a can 2) with ranch dressing then yes, this place knocks it out of the park! i am different. i like my burritos to remind me i am eating Mexican food rather than some botched genetically deficient distant cousin who didn't know his hand from a hole in the ground. someone's grandma needs to make some serious beans and feed them to all the staff. it doesn't take much longer to make real beans that taste amazing than to pour them out of a can. and where the heck did this ranch dressing thing come from? this place is a true anomaly.
(2)Jay A.
These would be the burritos god would eat.

(5)Cynthia T.
(3)Chris O.
(4)Lenny M.
The hot sauce selection is awesome, but this place ain't no Illegal Pete's.

(2)Lee B.
While one of the better burritos in Boulder, this branch just can't compare to the Fort Collins original. No less, I rarely leave unsatisfied especially after ordering my usual: regular carnitas with a side of potato rice, black beans corn salsa + pico de gallo + ranch + hot sauce
(4)Avidan A.
Listen: this place is nice but totally whitewashed. There is nothing really mexican about it. But for an american burrito place it is good.
(3)jian j.
had a veggie burrito today. tasted good. stir fried veggies, like Chinese style. Like it.
(4)Homer S.
Go!
(5)Laura Lee M.
I've never had anything but their potato burrito and that's enough for me. I don't nee anything else.
(5)Thurein P.
the owner of this establishment is a straight-up a-hole who yells at his employees for using portions that are too large right in front of the customer (me). the result? wrinkled turkey-neck burritos and somber tails-between-their-legs employees who don't talk. this is unfortunate because the burritos themselves are delicious and i would go back there if it wasn't for the aforementioned owner. stick with the fort collins BCB. or if you can't travel and need a potato burrito, illegal pete's.
(1)Jennifer A.
Big City has a great selection with tons of options and great deals. My favorite is Tuesdays were you can get a potato burrito and drink for around $4.50
(5)Charlie L.
(3)Doug K.
First time here and tried to eat vegan. Potatoe burrito with veggies pintos and rice. A lot of burrito and good. Not great. Prompt service and several choices of hot sauce on the counter to help spice it up.
(3)Kyle J.
I have never had problems with the manager as other have mentioned. I actually talked to him once and he seemed like a decent guy. The potato burritos are awesome. Prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly. I highly recommend coming here.
(4)David L.
(3)R W.
Yuck.
(1)Joseph C.
I'll be back
(5)Sasha B.
(5)Alex J.
Great burritos, but when they say they close at 9, they mean they lock their doors at 8:30 so the workers can go home by 9. Uncool!
(3)Jen G.
(5)Miles H.
(3)John D.
Emailed owner re: food poisoning in a direct but civil way. No response in a month. That attitude is pretty consistent with how this outfit is run.
(1)Sea C.
this is my favorite burrito ever. so sad i want them to open one in los angeles. i would open one but i dunno how to run a restaurant. maybe i can learned how to do it. this burrito is so tasty i was eating here for two meals a day for days in a row until other people there started to look at me weird. at least i thought they were in my head. i was thinking maybe they are thinking why is this guy always coming here. because it was so tasty. thats why
(5)Annie Z.
Good price and burrito
(4)John A.
(5)Stephen K.

(5)Matthew G.
This place makes a top notch mission style burrito. The potato side is an amazing addition to any burrito. the house hot sauce (green) is delicious. Jalapeño cheddar tortilla, with a side of potatoes and the chile verde is my burrito of choice.
(5)Jessica M.

Great mushroom veggie burritos
(4)Alex K.

(1)Kyle B.
(5)Betsy H.
if you like your burritos: 1) with beans from a can 2) with ranch dressing then yes, this place knocks it out of the park! i am different. i like my burritos to remind me i am eating Mexican food rather than some botched genetically deficient distant cousin who didn't know his hand from a hole in the ground. someone's grandma needs to make some serious beans and feed them to all the staff. it doesn't take much longer to make real beans that taste amazing than to pour them out of a can. and where the heck did this ranch dressing thing come from? this place is a true anomaly.
(2)Jay A.
These would be the burritos god would eat.
(5)David N.
Which is the foundation to an asian diet.. big no no.
(4)Graeson N.
(1)Ali M.

(3)Chris O.

Listen: this place is nice but totally whitewashed. There is nothing really mexican about it. But for an american burrito place it is good.

had a veggie burrito today. tasted good. stir fried veggies, like Chinese style. Like it.

(4)Jenn M.
Authentic, tasty burritos with surprisingly good ranch dressing. I love that they have a wall of hot sauces to choose from!

(4)Chase G.
Big City Burrito never disappoints. I usual get the 10" white tortilla with fried potatoes, carnitas, Monterey Jack, a little rice and black beans, house salsa and cilantro. Great stuff.

(5)R G.
Like I said, could be better though.

sooooooo good! don't get me wrong, I love chipotle, but this place is amazing. support local businesses, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
(5)Chris M.
(3)Timmy L.

Thank you.
(3)Brian K.
Wow, this is the first burrito which I really liked recently! My first visit too. I ordered one with potatoes (which are fried), yum. Every so often I crave a burrito and often this place comes to mind in the Boulder context. I'm sure the ingredients are pretty low quality, but still, yum.

(4)Mikki M.
Potato Burritos! Are you kidding? This is so good I can hardly stand it! You can get whatever you want in these burritos, and kind of wrap! The ingredients are fresh and the staff is friendly. Whats not to love? GO!!!!

Bomb breakfast burrito and good combinations available

This is where I go when I want a burrito, in my opinion, it blows all other burrito chains out of the water. My go-to burrito: Regular Jalapeno cheddar tortilla with Monterey jack cheese and carmeled onions. Side of Potatoes. Beans and rice. Chile Verde. Pico, House hot, and Ranch. mmmmmm....
(4)Seth G.

Mmmm...no. Yuck.
(1)Ali M.
Veggie burrito is under $5,
(4)Betsy H.
if you like your burritos: 1) with beans from a can 2) with ranch dressing then yes, this place knocks it out of the park! i am different. i like my burritos to remind me i am eating Mexican food rather than some botched genetically deficient distant cousin who didn't know his hand from a hole in the ground. someone's grandma needs to make some serious beans and feed them to all the staff. it doesn't take much longer to make real beans that taste amazing than to pour them out of a can. and where the heck did this ranch dressing thing come from? this place is a true anomaly.

Which is the foundation to an asian diet.. big no no.
(4)Graeson N.
(1)Marie C.
(5)Cynthia T.
(3)Chris O.

(1)Jennifer A.
Big City has a great selection with tons of options and great deals. My favorite is Tuesdays were you can get a potato burrito and drink for around $4.50
(5)Homer S.
Go!
(5)Laura Lee M.
I've never had anything but their potato burrito and that's enough for me. I don't nee anything else.
(5)Charlie L.
(4)David L.

(4)Andy W.

Great mushroom veggie burritos
(4)Alex K.
(5)Joseph C.
I'll be back
(5)Ashley B.
sooooooo good! don't get me wrong, I love chipotle, but this place is amazing. support local businesses, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
(5)Sasha B.
(5)Alex J.
Great burritos, but when they say they close at 9, they mean they lock their doors at 8:30 so the workers can go home by 9. Uncool!
(3)Timmy L.
(4)Miles H.
(3)John D.
Emailed owner re: food poisoning in a direct but civil way. No response in a month. That attitude is pretty consistent with how this outfit is run.

Good price and burrito

(1)Jen G.
(5)Kyle B.
(5)John A.
(5)Sea C.
this is my favorite burrito ever. so sad i want them to open one in los angeles. i would open one but i dunno how to run a restaurant. maybe i can learned how to do it. this burrito is so tasty i was eating here for two meals a day for days in a row until other people there started to look at me weird. at least i thought they were in my head. i was thinking maybe they are thinking why is this guy always coming here. because it was so tasty. thats why
(5)Carmen C.

(3)Kate M.
(5)Matthew G.
This place makes a top notch mission style burrito. The potato side is an amazing addition to any burrito. the house hot sauce (green) is delicious. Jalapeño cheddar tortilla, with a side of potatoes and the chile verde is my burrito of choice.
(5)Coyote O.
(4)Mikki M.
Potato Burritos! Are you kidding? This is so good I can hardly stand it! You can get whatever you want in these burritos, and kind of wrap! The ingredients are fresh and the staff is friendly. Whats not to love? GO!!!!
(5)Tory w.
(5)joshua e.
Bomb breakfast burrito and good combinations available
(4)Mike S.
Pico, House hot, and Ranch. mmmmmm....
(4)Seth G.
(5)Sarah S.
Soooo good.
(4)Diane K.
