We keep going back...not because Beau Joe's Boulder is amazing and delicious, but because they are one of the only dinner salad bars in Boulder. We do love the laid-back ambiance there and the soup and salad bar COULD be great (if they kept it stocked and kept the soup warm). Very easy fix Beau Joe's...quality control! The pizza is not my favorite, but a lot of people seem to love it.

Amazing pizza! Arrived here sort of after lunch time, but before dinner time. The place was pretty empty. We were seated right away. Noticing we were not from around, we were given a little tutorial. Neat decor, pleasant bar area, and sports on the television. No complaints so far. We ordered a 3Lb motherlode. It did not disappoint, and it was perfect for 3. We took a small bit home, but would have destroyed the 2Lb. The ingredients were very liberally piled onto this amazing pie. The crust was unspeakably good with a little drizzle of honey. It went well with the sauce/ingredients. While I wanted to hibernate and bask in my food coma that was ensuing, I also wanted to eat more. Having a lot of great specialty pizza places in Indy, I was a little worried. This place definitely did not disappoint.

Came here for lunch on Saturday. The pizza buffet was good, and most of the salad bar was good as well. But some of the items on the salad bar were not so good. The cherry tomatoes look good to eat, but they should not cause tingling on the tongue! That is a sure sign the tomatoes were off their mark. The same goes for the baby corn. And now let's mention the soup of the day. It was an Italian wedding soup. But anybody with a nose should have known better than to try it. That soup was straight up sour. Sorry for the bad review, but seriously, where's your head at?

Beau Jo's has been a favorite Colorado stop for my husbands family for years. It being my first time in the area we decided it was a must go. Both of us were rather underwhelmed with the service and the food at this location. First off it took quite a bit of time for our server to come over to take our order. When we finally received our order it came out incorrect. I understand that this happens but, how they chose to fix it made little sense to me. Instead of bringing out a new pizza to replace ours they brought out the missing toppings in a bowl for us to put on top of the pie. This didn't help to make the pizza very flavorful since the toppings weren't cooked on it. Even so we still tried to enjoy the meal and the crust with honey was good. The service and the way they choose to handle mix ups could really use some help though.

So we just used the Hungry Buffs app to order or food...since we are trying to relax and not go anywhere. Uhh..after an hour and a half we got some of our food but not all. Not sure who's fault it was that it was forgotten, the hungrybuff deliverer or Beaujos but either way I am pissed about it. Plus the quality of the food we did order was cold and gross. So thanks for the waste of 40 bucks for a calzone and piece of cake.

I came to Beau Jo's for a late lunch and early dinner. I was seated right away and my order was taken promptly. All of the wait staff was extremely nice, but I would have to argue and say my waitress was the best. If you get a chance to ask for Lilly when going here please do. We had the nachos and the hardy ardy for appetizers and it was so filling we didn't need anything else. I would also recommend coming for happy hour because you can find great deals! All around it was a very enjoyable meal.

I haven't been to Beau Jo's since I was a kid. I love pizza especially thick crusted pizza. I purchased a small to go. It's expensive for the size of pizza. I was disappointed. It didn't look cooked all the way through. Tasteless, I don't think there was enough sauce on it. Restaurant is clean, staff Is friendly and attentive, and there was no wait. We got the salad bar with our pizza and it was DELICIOUS!! All ingredients were so fresh and the variety was outstanding. Highly recommended and it's cheap! The mountain pie was AMAZING!! I personally didn't like eating it with honey on the crust, but thankfully that's optional so overall my meal was spectacular. I would eat here anytime and I would recommend it to anyone!!

I'm a little baffled why this place has a wait. We went tonight, the buffet night (guess that explains the wait?), and waited 15 minutes for a table. No biggie, gave the hubs and I a chance to take a long look at the menu. First of all, all the servers and staff were great and super friendly. My review really only focuses on food quality. We wanted the salad bar--it had been thoroughly picked over and not refreshed recently. There really wasn't much good lettuce left. The pizza is deceiving. It looks yummy and delicious, but is way too greasy but lacks flavor. The best part was the crust for sure and drizzling honey on it was a nice touch. But not enough to salvage it entirely. Maybe my review is a little tough, but I just want to throw a really honest opinion out there. Tuesday $4 22oz microbrews are great through!

Bad pizza at a pizza place. We sat on the patio and ordered the beer on special, were really enjoying the evening. Nice live music, beautiful sunset over the CU campus. Our pizza had a mess up and they were remaking it so we got free salad bar. Nothing unique here, just yummy salads with all the toppings. This was almost a 3-4 star review. But then our pizza came, and although we wanted it to be soooo good, it was not. It was not tasty at all. I'm not picky about pizza - I like frozen, cheap-o delivery, etc, but this was bad sauce, a few sad veggies on our veggie pizza, and undercooked dough. Too expensive to be bad.

We waited at our table for twenty minutes. The waiter looked directly at me, picked up the check book off a table that left and went back inside. We waited another 5 minutes and nobody had acknowledged we were there or even asked for our drink orders. So we left after twenty minutes of waiting. :( What a bummer because we love their pizza. Net-Net: Would recommend. nice people, pizza is good. Too expensive. Was visiting from out of town and ordered pizzas on New Year's Day. The pizza was very good. Ordered one gluten free pizza (tasted as expected). Would rate them higher but when I ordered a Large they mistakenly wrote down XLarge. They charged me for the XL even though I called back (within an hour) and ask them why 2 pizzas were $63?! They said bc they miswrote the order - great accountability. When I just asked for a refund to the the credit card, they would only issue me a gift card. Weird. I don't live there so will never be able to use it. They made the order mistake but didn't really fix the issue in a way that was suitable for the customer.

Came here with my gf as we checked out CU Boulder. She wanted pizza and looked this place up. I had a mountain pie and she can't have gluten, so she had a prairie pie. I liked it. I got one with like chicken and bacon and ranch on it. It was good when I ate it, but it was actually better cold the next day. Maybe ranch is just better cold. Anyway, I liked it both ways. She liked hers as well, but I don't remember what she got. I wouldn't have known about the crust/honey thing if my girlfriend hadn't seen it when looking for a pizza place. I thought the crust was pretty good in general, but the honey thing was even better. Customer service was nice and friendly. I'd definitely come eat here again, but I'm not a pizza purist or anything (I'm from California).

Hands down amazing! My wife last visited this place as a kid! Simply amazing & you know it's great when the show Man vs Food made a pit stop! The pizza was light, yet filling with a humongous crust! This place is known for their large pizza crusts! You eat every part of the pizza & save the crust for last, so you can drizzle the crust with honey! If you love your pizza drowned in ranch dressing, or any of their other sauces, then come here. If you like wings drowned in bottled sauces, then come here. Is it possible to mess up pizza? The pizza here is edible, but by no means is it anything fantastic. I love that they have a gluten free crust option, but so do most other places in the Denver and Boulder areas. Although the 14 pound pizza challenge did catch my eye, I think that would be my only intrigue for coming back here... ever.

I don't typically write reviews, but I had the worst dining experience of recent memory at Beau Jo's on Saturday June 28th. When my wife and I arrived, our drink orders were immediately taken. Our server came back again at approximately 8:30 PM to take our food order. We ordered a salad bar and two medium pizzas. We finished our plates at the salad bar and then started waiting. After not seeing our waitress to clear our salad bar plates and refill our drinks, I took a look at the time, it was 9:45 PM and we had not seen our waitress for over an hour. I went inside and asked if we could see our waitress because we had not received our food order yet. A few minutes passed and our waitress came out. She handed us a bill and told us that she was sorry that she had not returned. I told her that we didn't want a bill because we had not received our food yet. My wife and I were very hungry, after climbing and hiking all day, and our patience was wearing thin. We watched inside as our waitress ran around like she had no idea what was going on. She then came back out and told us that the kitchen had made the pizza, but they had never been delivered to our table. They had mysteriously vanished. I asked to have our pizza to go and wanted our bill. The manager did not come talk to us, but gave us a discount on our bill. It really felt like a slap in the face. I will never return to Beau Jo's, even though I find their pizza quite tasty.

Too many tables in the restaurant it makes it so you can't get to the toilet or salad bar without shoving some other customer into their table. That's why we didn't get the salad bar or go to the toilet. They need to remove some tables and make it more comfortable for their customers who are eating and don't want to move every two minutes to let someone by. I have to say, Beau Jo's didn't live up to the hype. My boyfriend and I had seen Beau Jo's featured on a Food Network pizza special. Living in Ohio, we were so excited that there was a location in Boulder, where we would be for an upcoming vacation. The pizza was dry (not enough sauce) and we just weren't big fans of the honey crust. Honey on pizza? Not our style, I guess. The garlic honey bread was also too sweet. It was sopping with the honey. I give it a three only because the service was awesome. We had a young college guy as our server and he was really friendly, efficient and attentive. It would be one star if I were taking only food into consideration, but the service for sure bumped it up an extra star!

My first real mountain pizza! It was definitely delicious! The crust is obviously huge and they give you honey to drizzle on it which is beyond a delicious dessert. I ordered the mushroom appetizer which was ok. It came out really fast but it was a slow day and Im not gonna complain about how fast it was, especially not after a long hike! Got the salad bar which was perfect and had goldfish crackers, which is my personal favorite quirk that I got to indulge in! We had the mamma mia special pie, and nothing to complain about. Again everything was delish, the only reason for three stars was price. It was pretty pricey. Sitting outside with the atmosphere made it worth while. Probably will visit again. Staff/service was friendly and nice as well. Much appreciated.

I got used to Beau Jo's once I dropped all my previous pizza expectations out the window. But should one get used to a style of food? Isn't that like giving up or lowering your standard? Yes, it is a bit of that. This is a Colorado mountain pie, not NY or neapolitan. It's rugged and a big crust and mostly bland if you don't eat meats like pepperoni. And you can try all configuration of the pie but I found at the end of the day, a pepperoni topping with some veggies will give you some flavor. Better yet, their Argentine pie which I believe is made with BBQ sauce is very good. And when their pies are on they're pretty good. But on an off day and the crust is undercooked, they're really off. From the outside, this location looks like it's about to go out of business soon. Once you get in, it's pretty crowded for dinner. I go here because it's convenient. But other than that, this location is a let down after you've been to the Idaho Springs restaurant. The best bet is the salad bar. Again, nothing fancy. One step above food service at college but it works.

This is somewhat a mixed review, with less experience than others have had... For my first and only experience, I ordered a pizza to be delivered - we were drinking at a brewery - there was no food there - I love to eat while drinking. Nobody was really that interested in making a food decision, so I made an executive decision and ordered from BeauJo's - resulting in the most expensive pizza you can imagine. It was $49 for an XL after delivery charge and tip (about $8). What a fabulous pizza though - piled with fresh (?) vegies on a big crust (see pics) which I think someone's loving hands played with before bestowing it upon us. This is probaby the best thick crust pizza I've ever had - especially considering that other deep dish style (which this is not I guess) are always so greasy but yummy. This crust was a non-greasy variety with excellent taste and cooked "properly". In the end, my delivered pizza was amazing, so was the price. Not so recommended for everyday - highly recommended if you want to try some great thick crust pizza. Probably best to keep costs down by going to visit them at home.

this is not pizza. (or was this spelled peetsa, like some weird genetically modified chicken that produces wyngz)... mmmmmm..... Pre-pre-cooked crust, "toppings" taken quite literally and placed uncooked on top of melted cheese and tomato paste. It was like a poor-man's version of a hobo pizza (take cracker, add tomato ketchup, place cheese over top, then microwave). Perhaps being snow-blind is an advantage, since its by the pound here... Like other reviewers I have read here, we were pumped to eat there several months ago after some colleagues recommended it and, yes, because we watched the man-vs-food episode when he quested there in the name of gastrointestinal fortitude. YIKES!!! This was a mix between Chicago style and New York style, but it wound up in Jersey somewhere... The 'deep dish' took about 7min to prepare and serve, and when we asked the manager if this was "really how it was supposed to look and taste" he was not sure what to think. If this is what you grew up calling pizza, I suppose it was. On the other hand, if you did not grow up on a spaceship during a long haul Mars mission you would have no way of... wait a minute - I bet the pizza in space is similar to this. No... I have much more respect for the space program than to compare this to any dehydrated ice cream or MRE... and don't get me started about how delicious the crust is with honey. First, its honey sauce, so it is a collection of yellow #5 and other flavors added to corn syrup. Second, thank goodness no honey is/was harmed in the creation of this.

The pizza is two stars. The dough tastes like something you would get from a frozen pizza at Costco. The Cajun Pizza was crazy greasy and did not taste "Cajun" whatsoever. The thickness of the toppings in the Mountain Pie does not remind me of Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. The saving grace of this place is the awesome staff. From the manager to the servers, they put up with me on my first day in Colorado and I managed to get extremely buzzed and then extremely hungover before the sun was even close to setting thanks to the very heavy hand of our excellent server, and maybe a little bit thanks to the altitude difference I forgot about until it was too late. But yeah, this place delivers (on alcohol).

Mountain pies already sound epic. And then they give you a pork green chili sauce option. That's all she wrote, fellas. Walking in a bit after 11, my friend and I got a small mountain pie to share. Pork green chili sauce, ricotta, hot chicken, and more Hatch green chiles on their honey whole wheat crust. Vintage healthy options! I loved the inside of the Boulder location, especially when using stones to create the bar counter. A clean, inviting environment. Our small mountain pie arrived, braided crust and all. The ricotta was the ideal light choice, allowing the chicken and the chiles to shine through. The chicken had the tiniest noticeable zip. The honey whole wheat crust was a winner, possessing that crunchy, airy/light quality. Get the honey ready! Gotta have it on your crust here. Why Oregon never really embraced such an idea (at least to my knowledge), I have no clue. Yes, I could have opted for the AYCE (all you can eat) pizza, soup, and salad bar for $8.99. However, with more places to try in such a short span of time, it was probably best on this occasion to get what I'd deem a light snack. I also saw a pork green chili cheeseburger pizza on the menu. Colorado is doing a great job so far in making me want to move. You up for a challenge? Get a partner and take on the 14-pound Grand Sicilian. One hour, two people. Only a few teams have done it. Considering how delicious the pizza is here, I wish I could take down at least 7 pounds of it. At the time of my visit, only 12 teams had won. It's $75 for the pizza, but winning teams get the pizza free, $100, T-shirts, and recognition on their wall. Beau Jo's had some great pie. I hope to be back in the future!

So, I hate to give anything less than stellar reviews usually - but I felt the need to post a little something here about Beau Jo's. Let me preface this with - I love Beau Jo's. I'm a fan. It's delicious. I have always gotten good service, they are always accommodating, pleasant, informative...etc... The decor is standard, it has a cute little bar, lots of beers, a few wines, and even gelato. Prices aren't too shabby either. BUT, I have celiac disease. Which means I can't eat gluten. (I unfortunately am also dairy free but they have daiya - yay! - which is the only cheese I can eat - major points for them there!) This is where the issue comes in. I first tried Beau Jo's when it opened here in Boulder back in the day. I loved it - got sick. Very sick. So did my mother and brothers (all have celiac disease, awesome genes, I know). Over the years I have attempted to go back (every few years, when in town), because, you know, GLUTEN FREE PIZZA. I get sick. Every. Single. Time. My mother too. (brother refuses to go back). My point being - I really WANT to be a fan. I've tried, over and over. But if you have Celiac (I can't speak for people with just a gluten intolerance), I wouldn't recommend eating here. Or do so at your own risk. If you aren't super sensitive - have at it! Because it's delicious.

We had seen an episode on Man vs Food that showcased Beau Jo's, so we had to try it out when we recently visited Boulder. Delicious pizza with a great combination of dough, sauce, and toppings. Really unique high crust that you can douse in honey when you chomp your way to the end of your slice. Honey is provided at the table, free of charge. Love the savory and sweet in a meal. Let me start this review by saying - I am NOT a pizza person. It's on the bottom of my cravings list and while I don't really dislike it, I could go the rest of my life without ever eating it and not be upset. That being said, I enjoyed Beau Jo's. It's definitely different than any other pizza I've ever had. The crust is ENORMOUS! And I liked their idea of eating "leftover" crust with some honey. That was yummy!! The best part was that a couple at the table next to us decided to try the 14lb pizza challenge while we were there!!! We're big fans of Man Vs. Food, so to see one of these outlandish food challenges up close and personal was a real treat! We joined in with their family cheering them on and monitoring their progress. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to spare to wait and see if they "won," but let's just say it wasn't looking promising. ;)

I love pizza and this place was as good as some of the places back home. It didn't disappoint. We ordered a 3# veggie and everything tasted fresh. Some on here complained about the dough being too excessive, but I liked that. The honey wheat crust dipped in honey was like a dessert without buying a dessert. Great college town atmosphere inside, reminded me of Lawrence, KS joints. The staff was friendly and we had a larger group with three kids younger than 2. They were able to accommodate without any fuss and we had a great time. It wasn't busy, so I can't account for the service or quality of the food during the busier hours.

I am also very sad by seeing all the mixed reviews- and bad reviews. Beaujo's turned into my favorite pizza the first time I had it. I went to this Boulder location first. The crust is thick - the way I like it. I'm not a huge fan of thin crusts so jmo. I've never had a soggy crust like someone else was saying, so maybe they were having an off night? And honey to dip the crust in = big win in my book! lol Also, the toppings are always tasty and seem fresh. I've not had the salad bar but DH has, and he really enjoyed it. I wanted to steal off his plate for what it's worth, lol. Local Beer. Mmm. 'Nuff said. Also, on one occasion my party was seated outside (per our request) and it took a long time for someone to notice us. As soon as we called someone's attention they were very apologetic and our server even paid for all of our drinks (beers included) and our salad bar! It was exceptional service after that initial long wait and I was very impressed. Needless to say, I left a good tip. I'm a Beaujo's Fan for sure, and will continue to give them my business!

Last weekend we had a mini Man Vs. Food marathon and watched the Boulder episode. So when we saw a Beau Jo's commercial on tv this afternoon, that was enough to send us to the restaurant for dinner. We really, really wanted to like it. We're huge pizza lovers, so our hopes were high. Sadly, our experience was lacking. The menu is kind of strange, in that it's a much better deal to get a specialty pizza rather than building your own. So we got an Old Settler. Unfortunately, this thing was packed with onions and tomatoes, both of which were lukewarm at best. Bacon was almost nonexistent. The cheese and sauce were both good, but there wasn't nearly enough of either. The whole wheat crust reminded us of a watered down version of Mellow Mushroom crust. Service was super friendly all through our visit, except when it came time for the check- Our waitress disappeared. Granted, business was picking up at the point, but it wasn't so bad that we should've had to wait that long for our check. When she finally came back, she told us since it was our first visit we got to get a free cookie. Had we known it would've taken 10 more minutes for the cookie to show up, we probably would've passed. If that wasn't enough, the cookie was almost completely flavorless- The only thing that saved it was the chocolate chips and the fact that it was served warm from the oven. Overall, our visit was kind of a let down.

We have been to the Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs, not knowing it was the original. That was amazing! This one, not so much. We went on a Sunday night knowing it wouldn't be packed, even though it wasn't packed at all we still had to wait for the hostess to seat us for quite a few minutes. There were about 8 empty tables. So we get sat, look through the menus and decide on the 1# hamburger pizza, so we wait and wait and wait fir our server (Byron) to take our order. After about 10 minutes he comes back and says, " I bet you already know what you want!". Well yes Byron, I know what we want because it's been forever, not because I'm fat as your judging eyes seem to be saying. So much to his surprise we order the salad bar (don't worry it was drowned in ranch dressing either!) and our 1# pizza. He tells us to grab what we want at the salad bar and leaves. So we get our salads, come back and oops, no silverware or napkins. We look around for our boy Byron, no where to be found. So I go to the bar and ask the bartender for some roll ups(silverware rolled in a napkin), I must have said it wrong because she looked at me like I asked for a kidney or something. Ok no big deal, go and graze on my greens, and wait for the pizza. It comes out about 15 minutes later. Byron puts it on the stand and leaves, no ask if we need anything, maybe to check to see we didn't have plates or our empty drink glasses. So pop back up to the salad bar and grab 2 empty plates. Byron comes by 10 minutes later, the pizza is gone, if you know a Beau Jo's 1# you know it's small, so no surprise 2 people can eat it in 10 minutes. Byron drops off some fresh drinks , woo Hoo! Then he again in a seemingly judgy tone asks if we want some gelato. No thanks buddy just the check. So this wouldn't have been so bad if Byron hadnt been paying such close attention to the people next to us, it was a 4 top who each ordered a 1#'er so maybe he felt we would be cheap??????? Who knows. So, the pizza was great, small, but great. I like the crust, like the options you can pick and it was priced fair. The food I'd a solid 4 stars, but Byron brings it down to a 2 star review. We'll come back for sure, but just to get take out.

I hate to do it, but Beau Jo's is the only restaurant that is receiving less than 4 stars from me, after visiting several businesses in the Boulder-Denver area. Overall I liked Beau Jo's. The food was good (mountain pie stuffed with bacon and pepperoni, how can that not be good?). However, the service was a little on the blah side. When we first walked in, it took a while for someone to greet us. Once we were sat and had our drink orders taken, it was a while before our food order taken. Normally, I probably wouldn't have minded, but I was starving and you don't want to get on my bad side when I haven't eaten all day. I also thought that it was a little overpriced. We left full and satisfied food wise, but at the end of the day the amount of money that we dropped on two pizzas, regardless of the toppings, was a bit steep (no pun intended since we did order a mountain pie). Overall, a cool place to experience but probably not one that I would make regular pilgrimages to if I lived in the area.

Being relatively "new" to the Boulder area, I usually read whatever reviews I can find on an establishment before I decide to jump wallet first into their dining experience. But, Beau Jo's was different because I saw it featured on the Travel Channel's "Man vs. Food" show and I am notorious for jumping in where Adam Richman has already conquered (sort of) . Knowing full well that there was no way I was going to attempt the 14 pound mountain high pizza challenge, I decided to give their pizza a try just because it looked so damn good on television. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Now I know the camera adds pounds... but Beau Jo's pizza will undoubtedly add more pounds to your waistline than any 700 cameras ever could. The dough is puffy and delicious, crisp on the outside but oohey gooey warm and soft on the inside. All of the toppings are fresh, plentiful and piled high. And just for added measure, they have honey for you to put on the crust that's left over at the end of your pizza slice. Because, you know... when you think "pizza", naturally your next thought would be "honey", right? Don't worry, I had the same reaction... but oh my... it seriously hits the spot! They also have a salad bar for those of you who go to a pizza place and don't want pizza. It's adequate and stocked with the usual fixings, but nothing that would amaze your friends or fool your enemies. A simple kid's menu is also available, but let's be honest... if your kid decides they want something OTHER than pizza, check for a fever. Beau Jo's never leaves me hankerin' for more. In fact, I've been known to tell my husband to pull the car around so I won't be forced to walk one more step than is absolutely necessary. I don't like to waddle in public if I can help it. There are a few drawbacks to Beau Jo's, but it is NOT the food. Parking can be frustrating... no... infuriating is more like it. More often that not, the place is extremely busy, especially during the months when school is in session. I think I once saw the entire UC football team in there for dinner one night. It is also a local favorite for every parent with an unruly child it seems. There's nothing I hate more than trying to eat with a cute (but exceedingly annoying) child either running in circles around your table or staring at you while you chew. Lastly, there is also a balloon artist that entertains on certain nights. Second only to the singing of the birthday song, this is my most HATED form of "entertainment" that restaurants have pulled out of their hat. But, don't worry... once the pizza coma kicks in.... you won't notice any of it....

Being from out of town, I saw this place on Man v. Food, and wanted to check it out. Let me tell you, I am bummed they don't have one of these places in LA, because it was GREAT. The amount pizza combinations you can make is mind-boggling. The service here was outstanding, and if I lived in Boulder, it would certainly be a main staple. The girlfriend and I ordered a 1lb Mountain Pie, and split the pizza in half for topping preferences. Our waitress said we could even split the sauces and cheeses, but, we kept those to the standard options. Pizza was super tasty and something different than what I am used to. The beer selection was also great. Check this place out, especially if you are an out-of-towner like me.

I love the pizza here! But sometimes, the staff will blow you off to be on their cell phones and if you ask for something, they'll look kind of annoyed. I had an experience where one of them didn't explain the prices when we asked very clearly and we ordered that pizza thinking it would be about $15... but instead it was $60. They lowered the price a bit but I was not impressed by the way this went. I drive 45 miles from Aurora to Boulder to eat this pizza and it's worth it every time... minus the sometimes not so friendly staff.

I really thought I'd like this place...but I wasn't impressed. I met my friend for lunch here and had their $8.95 lunch buffet. It was advertised as all-you-can-eat pizza, salad bar, and soup. However, there wasn't any soup (which I really wanted since it was cold and snowy out!). The salad bar was okay. I wasn't wow'ed with the freshness or selection. I was able to get some pizza that just came out of the oven, but even then it wasn't that great. I didn't like the big chunks of onion in the sauce. One of the pizzas was pretty good: green chiles, jalapenos, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. I really loved that combination, but wasn't enough to win me over. I probably won't be back there again. It is a good deal price-wise, and if you're on a time constraint. But I think there might be some better deals, with far better food, elsewhere in Boulder.

I love Thursday nights at Beau Jo's. They have a Calzone special that comes with the salad bar for less than $10. I love their beer selection too, all the great local beers. Save the crust and dip it in honey, it's the best!

I see all the mixed reviews here and it hurts. I love Beau Jos. I hadn't been to one in over 10 years...and loved that it hadn't changed at all. The pizza was amazing, the crust and honey is still as awesome as ever. The local brew I had on tap was also amazing. I am the opposite of a hippie but I can't help loving Boulder, and all it has to offer....even the pizza.

Ho hummmm...sat outside on a lovely Wednesday evening here. Ordered a 2# high altitude pie, with sausage, pepperoni, green bell pepper, black olives, mushrooms, and red onions. It was all right for pizza, but I was not impressed with the crust...too cracker-like on the outside. I want it to be almost like a baguette - crispity on the outside, yum and chewy on the inside. Where, oh where do I find something like that? Anyhoo, we also each had the salad bar, which was fine. And our waiter was friendly and attentive. Overall, not bad, but not stellar. We'll have to keep trying other pizza joints around here.

Definitely not the best Beau Jo's in the state, but the pizza is pretty good. Once you've been here, you pretty much know what you're getting: huge crust, tons of toppings, and heartburn later. We pretty much stick to the traditional offerings but they've all been pretty good. The crust is a little on the bland side, so make sure you dunk it in honey. Also, the honey-cheese bread is a must. Sounds weird... and it kind of is... but it's delicious. Salad bar is great (completely stocked with fresh ingredients) but honestly, why would you bother when you're ordering a giant pizza? The service has always been awesome. Drinks never empty, napkins when you need them, and all the honey you can stomach. They're friendly and polite... exactly what customer service is all about. They were also great when working with our student group to set up a profit sharing for a convention we hosted.

Beau Jo's is actually pretty tasty pizza! Their sauce is definitely something to Yelp home about. We ordered the Wheat crust, and it was crisped perfectly well. The toppings were really, really good - all of the veggies were fresh, and the meat wasn't overly greasy. Aside from the pizza and its really great, fresh toppings, it is truly fantastic that they have real Gluten Free options - you can get your crust AND beer fix, and be in Celiac heaven at the same time. The happy hour specials seem pretty good, too. I live in an East Coast college town, and you simply would NOT see any beer for $2.25 in a place that is actually clean. I'm a fan. And... I'll admit it. I got a picture by the Man Vs. Food wall. It was fun!

Oh Bea Jo's. You used to remind me of ski trips with my family now I am just constantly disappointed. Some friends were visiting and the Boulder location is very close to our house..Despite my warning that I did not think it was very good, they wanted to try it anyway... We got a plain cheese pie. The crust was soggy and the sauce unflavored and bland. I am a plain cheese pizza eater so fresh toppings don't impress me. If you can't get plain cheese right, why would I waste time with toppings anyway? And, pizza crust dipped in honey is just gross. Get pizza right and then start getting creative. The only saving grace is the gluten free options, if you are on a strict GF diet, they have several options for you.

This Beau Jo's is cool and everything...but if you want to experience the real deal, head to Idaho Springs. The decorations and ambiance alone are worth it. Plus if it's super busy, go grab a fresh brew at Tommyknocker's next door. I am surprised the Man VS. Food crew couldn't spend an extra hour in the car and go the ORIGINAL beau jo's. Come on guys! It's on the historic landmark registry, for crying out loud. On that note, the food is great! Skier Mike's is my favorite, hands down!!

I have heard confilicting views and had to try for myself. This is the grossest pizza I've ever had. And no, I don't frequent the freezer for frozen pizzas..I like the real thing. I am a thin slice, plain cheese kind of girl. Maybe if you are used to deep dish (Chicago style) Beau Jo's is good? But it isn't even that. The crust is soggy (not chewy) and the sauce is not seasoned well, under salted and just ICK. Not really into dipping my crust into honey either. WTF? Let pizza be pizza and dessert be dessert. Service was just so-so.

I love Beau Jo's pizza, however, I would NEVER go back to the Boulder location. We went around 2:00PM and there were only two other occupied tables and still we stood in the lobby for almost 10 minutes before getting seated. The bartender looked righ at us several times and did not say a word. Then it took 30 minutes to get our food and the server never refilled our drinks once. AWFUL!!!! Food was good as always. This Beau Jo's has the worst service of any restaurant I have ever been to.

Stopped in to try the thick crust pizza. Service was friendly, food was good. We got a 2 lb mountain pie: 1/2 sausage combo, 1/2 dude ranch. Normally $18.99 for a 2 lb pie. Was charged $20.01 to split. Not sure what the 2 cents was about. Enjoyed the dude ranch more than the sausage combo, which basically tasted like your typical supreme pizza. The honey whole wheat crust was nice. It actually tasted pretty good dipped in honey. 2 lb = 8 slices = enough for 3 people.

My wife surprised me with a trip to Beau Jo's. She's not a pizza fan partly because she's trying to stay gluten free. Fortunately they have a gluten free menu. We were seated right away which was nice. There was a bit of a line when we left so the place is busy. Best to get in earlier. The waiter was spot on arriving just in time to take our order. I ordered the Garlic Cheese Toast and the Beaughetti. Now I don't normally order spaghetti when going out because invariably restaurants are unable to make it well. I ordered it with the mixed hamburger and sausage sauce. I ordered the Cheese Toast in part because it was sour dough bread and because the picture of the Beaughetti showed it was fairly normal sized and it was identified as a "Smart Meal". The Cheese Toast came out pretty quickly and it was nice and hot. There were 8 smallish pieces with a hefty slice of mozzarella cheese covering each piece. About the only issue was that there was quite a bit of butter or oil on the bread. The last two pieces had liquid squirting out to the sides and down my chin a little. So a little overboard there :) When the Beaughetti came out just about when I was starting to look around for the waiter. In other words, about right on time. The shock really was that it was fricking gigantic. Had I known it was so large, I wouldn't have ordered the garlic bread. They used a small thick crust pizza, rolled up the edges to make a bowl and served it like that. I had the choice of Penne pasta or Linguini noodles for the spaghetti. I chose the Linguini. I have to say that this was the best restaurant spaghetti I've ever eaten. The sauce was actually meat sauce and not half a bottle of catsup with some chunks of meat. The noodles were cooked just right, not squishy and not undercooked. I was pretty full but thought I'd try the crust. It seemed a little undercooked but the combination of it and the leftover spaghetti was pretty flavorful. Had I bailed on the bread, I would have eaten the bowl. Overall it was pretty good.

I'm amazed at all the bad reviews. What kind of pizza are you people used to eating? Frozen? I personally have been told that I have a "problem" when it comes to Beau Jos that might require a 12 step program. I'm from Chicago, I've spent time in New York and I lived in Portland, OR which has some good thin crust pizza as well. I tend to be indiscriminate in my food choices and will accept mediocre pizza most certainly, but I find, usually, Beau Jos to be extremely good. I could give a rats ass about the service. It is a college town. You take what you get and suck it up. I've had far worse service and much better service. It is adequate usually and some servers are very pleasant if not highly skilled. You think college kids tip well? Then what makes you think excellent servers would choose to work at a pizza joint in a college town? Duh. The pizza, however, is delicious. I've had one bad experience, where the pizza was not cooked fully. I still ate it. I like the thicker crust with the heavy outer edge. I think the cheese used is good quality and the flavor of the sauce is not overpowering. I like the balance - they do not oversauce their pizza which I despise. I always get pepperoni & black olive and I eschew ridiculous toppings like goat cheese and artichokes - just more ridiculous ways to ruin a perfectly good pizza. The pepperoni is of good quality and moreover - it is crispy, not soggy like some places give you. I can name two places in town that sell pizza by the slice that slop the toppings on pre-cooked cheese pizza and warm in the oven - sacrilige! Disgusting as well. If you prefer thin crust NY style or are a staunch Chicago style this falls outside of both those categories. It is also a starch lovers dream with the heavy outer crust. I like it very much and my friend will tell you I seldom go on and on as I just have about any food items because I really am indifferent about food, not a foodie at all. I may be delusional about this, it is possible, but I prefer to think this is truly good pizza. If you concern yourself with quality service over quality food - pick a fancy restaurant and leave the seats for the rest of us. Oh...and I never pay more than $10 for a small pizza, which feeds me 2-3 meals, which is $5/meal - a very good price if you ask me.

This is a solid 3 star place. The pizza didn't really do much to amaze me, but I am new to the whole 'honey with your crust' idea. I am hooked. They have really good honey. They have wonderful gluten-free options, and are very accomadating to dairy-free limitations as well. The waitresses are nice and helpful, and there are dual flush toilets to save on water, which is fun. They have the mountain pie, prairie pie, and I think one other option as far as the crust thickness goes. Mountain is thick, prairie is thin. We ate the Mountain pie and it was way too thick for any dough, but this dough is not that good, so it makes it a little worse. There are several options for toppings, but none that wow me.

Wow... and that's not a good wow. From beginning to end this was a disappointment. Brought a friend in here last night with vague memories of eating at another location and wanting to try the one in Boulder. Right off the bat, it took a little while to get seated, and not a long little while, but too long when we could see the staff all sitting at the bar right in front of us. Next, the waitress was nice enough, but a little too zealous when it came to wanting to explain the menu, and absent when we were ready to order. Ugh, the experience was so bad I don't really want to write out the whole thing, the long and short --- our apps came out cold, our pizza was nasty and WAY over priced ($17.99 for a pizza that fits on a small dinner plate and is sportin' rubbery chicken?), the sauce was watery with an almost moldy after taste, and you could tell the oregano came out of a giant shaker from Sysco. The best part about the meal was the honey for the crusts, really really yummy clover honey. After each suffering through a slice and me explaining what the honey was for we decided to cut the crusts off and just eat those. We should have stayed home with a Tony's from Safeway, hell, a 99 cent Totino's would probably have been better. Oh, one last thing, when my friend went to pay the bill and the waitress asked "How was it?" and he said, "Terrible," she just said, "OK" and gave him his change. Again, wow...

UGH. Not a fan of Beau Jo's. At all. I had my first Beau Jo's in Durango when it opened, and for a place that prides themselves on their pizza, they make a TERRIBLE pie. I went a second time in Boulder, and was once again, completely taken aback at how bad their pizza was. Too much sauce, nasty crust, unappetizing tasting toppings.. just everything I don't want to deal with when I'm eating pizza. Sure, I've never had anything but the pizza, but isn't it supposed to be good if that's pretty much all they advertise?

I had my first stab at Mountain Pie while in Boulder over the weekend. It reminded me of Chicago's Giordanos yet with a twisted crust. Much better than the Chicago pie yet nothing that can top Jet's Pizza back in Detroit. The service was real cool and the drink specials were definitely gtg, but the pizza was not as fantastic as I expected, though mi tee taste ee. This chain is found all over CO so if you have a chance to get to others I highly recommend it since the experience may be different from this one. The fact that they offer gluten free options is also a plus you may want to take advantage of if this is your bag. Just remember 'Mountain Pie' when thinking of this place, it is their specialty.

I did not enjoy this pizza both times I have tried it. The crust was perhaps the worst of all - very very dry. Almost like a cracker. Not a fan of "Colorado style" pizza I guess. It is hard to make a pizza that I don't want the leftovers the next day. And I do not understand putting honey on pizza crust.

Well, that was...bland. Two stars is very generous. Beau Jo's is a pizza place that serves "mountain pie" style pizza - sorta like a deep dish with tons of crust, I suppose. The atmosphere of the place seems clean but sort of incomplete - it lacks in decor and such. It seems fairly friendly, and there's a salad bar, if you're into that. They also have a "full" bar, but that seems to mean cheap, poorly made margaritas and a meager wine selection. On to the food... We went on Valentine's Day, and it was about half full. Service was adequate though unimpressive throughout. We ordered the garlic cheese bread appetizer and a 2-pounder pizza, half Hamburger Combo and half Skier Mike. The garlic cheese bread came out promptly. It was a light french bread with a garlic butter on it and topped with mozzarella. It was ok but pretty bland. You can't really make such a thing bad, per se, but there wasn't anything special either. There was hardly any garlic flavor, and the cheese and bread had a kinda cheap texture, but this was still, amazingly, the best part of the meal. The pizza came out next. To elaborate on my earlier description of a mountain pie, it was a fairly small diameter pizza that was about 2 inches tall, i.e. heavy on the toppings. The crust is a rolled affair, meant to be almost like an attached dinner roll to be dipped in the included honey. Both pizza types were exceptionally bland; I could hardly tell the difference, despite fairly different meats and such. The sauce was awful - watery with zero flavor. It is easily the worst sauce I've experienced other than on frozen pizzas, and many of those even have it beat. The cheese was cheap and flavorless. The chicken and "Canadian bacon" were flavorless and rubbery. The pepperonis were cheap and thin. About the only topping of decent quality was the green pepper. The crust was another disaster - oh-so dry and flavorless. I don't think that honey went particularly well with the crust, but it was a vast improvement just because it added some flavor. And this small-ish pizza was $18. I won't go back. Beau Jo's is a sub par pizza joint, and I do not recommend it.

The pizza can be pretty good if you manage to pick the right one, but the salad bar is worthless, and the help is even worse. The host/hostess seem intent on seating people in the worse seats first, even if the restaurant is empty, the servers seems sullen and reluctant, and good luck getting a take-out call answered. Does it sound like I've been there multiple times? Unfortunately, the place is ridiculously kid friendly, but thankfully my kids are old enough that I never have to go there again.

What this means is that Z can go out and have a gluten-free pizza with most everything she could want on it without feeling like she was compromising. Toss in a couple of bottles of Redbridge and you have yourself a tasty, tasty meal. The regular menu is also excellent. Best of all, the servers all seem to be well-trained to be appreciative of people ordering from the gluten-free section. Z's Review: * * * * * Even though I am gluten-free, Beau Jo's makes it possible for me to go out to dinner and order pizza and beer!! It's also great to have the gluten-free menu just provided to me - it was a nice change not to have to make any special requests. From the gluten-free menu I've tried the L'il Italy pizza, which to me just tasted like a regular specialty pizza. It had roma tomatoes, mushrooms, olives, and pepperoni. Combined with a bottle of Redbridge it was quite heavenly! Another time I got the Chip's Pie for takeout. This one was a bit unusual for a pizza, as it had crumbled feta instead of melted cheese, but it was still really delicious. Beau Jo's is one of my new favorite places!

this place is right down the street from me, and it took three years before i ever went. they had a decent lunch buffet, and my sister and i liked it alright. she enjoyed the fact that the salad bar had a ton of bacon on it. the only weird thing is that they promote dunking the crust in honey afterward. that is so completely gross to me, but boulderites are weird... so whatcha gonna do. at the buffet, my favorite pizza was the standard crust with sausage. it is almost like a chicago style pizza, in the sense that it is deep and layered. i ordered this once again for delivery, and decided that this style seems better when you are just eating a couple pieces at the place itself. the pizza is so huge and heavy that it seems almost daunting to have in your house afterwards. the muse has to be upon you to go to beau jo's, but that isnt really a bad thing.

The pizza and the crust is delicious because it is sweet and fluffy and they provide honey bears at every table. The honey crust + honey to dip it in is delicious, and amazing how well it goes with cheese and tomato sauce. The beer selection is also good, and reasonably priced. Look into the myriad of Happy Hour specials from 3-6 pm. Most notably the $0.75 Coors/Miller Lite Sun-Thurs 3-6pm.

Between the salad bar and the pizza you can't go wrong! We had the 5 pound pizza between six of us and it was more then enough. Of course we had salad bar with it. It was reasonably priced and the service was decent. Definitely worth trying if you want some pizza.

What an excellent experience! We came in to try the Boulder location to celebrate the closing on a house! We were greeted immediately by 3 staff members. the place was warm and welcoming and no matter where we would have sat we would have been able to see a television. Our server was incredibly friendly. we had eaten at other Beau Jo's locations and have enjoyed all of them. There was around 10 beers on draft of all styles. We both ordered the New Belgium seasonal ale. It was just what the doctor ordered. We started our meal with an order of wings. They were great!! The server had informed us that they werent deep fried also when we told her how much we loved them. We love the mountain pie and ordered a pepperoni and sausage on wheat crust. We LOVE the wheat crust. our pizza came out just as we finished our wings and it was awesome!! We even had some to take home for later. This location also has gelato. We asked if we could get some to take home and there was the perfect size for the 2 of us. We have nothing bad to say about this place and are a little confused by the few posts of people that didnt like it. We will definately return and hopefully very soon!

We ordered 2 pizzas (delivered) among other things. The flavors on the pizzas were good but I don't know who enjoys that much dough with their pizza. The pizza has a home-made feel to it and I don't mean that in a good way. There was more pizza crust (which was super thick and doughy) then actual pizza. I would take 2 or 3 bites and be at the crust again. My friend ordered bread sticks with this meal which we later laughed about since there was twice as much leftover crust than the full order of breadsticks. If you LOVE thick doughy non-crispy pizza, go for it!

Being from Chicago some friends in Colorado swear this is the best pizza they have found out there and I have to agree with them. I love the thick crust with the thinner middle. I had a calzone on this visit and it was one of the tastiest I have had. A tad on the spicy side but totally delicious. I eat a lot and this calzone did me in. I had half of it leftover for lunch the next day! Service at this location was quite slow and the servers seemed more interested in grabbing food from the salad bar and sitting down for dinner than serving their tables. Always love the honey for the bread its that sweet after pizza you need! Great job again Beau Jo's I will be back!

Five stars, hands down. AMAZING pizza...period! I got the centurion (love any pizza with fresh garlic), and had them use half tomato sauce and half of the sauce comes with this pizza. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I got the thick crust, which while I thought the crust around the pizza was a bit on the thick side (a lot of doe), it was a really good quality, good tasting, actually, one of the best pizzas I've ever had. And I've had some good pizzas...NY, Europe, Chicago..I didn't expect that from a college town pizzeria. Very glad we went there. And definitely catch them during their happy hour. Great deals on the beer and food! Oh, and GIANT KUDOS to their allergen menu...being I had absolutely NO food allergies until a couple years ago, it has been a bit of a struggle for me to go out and enjoy food the way I used to (I am known to for being able to throw down a good meal, have a grand appreciation of food, and have a fairly large appetite for a girl), so it was a sad day to find that I could not enjoy one of my greatest pleasures in life the way I used to. I appreciate any placed that takes the time to cater to people with food allergies, as it not the easiest thing to live with. I didn't even have to ask, didn't have to feel like I was being a pain or picky, it was all right there in front of me! Wow! How I wish every restaurant was like that...mabye one day. :-) That, or these allergies will mysteriously disappear, as mysteriously as they appeared into my life...

I had Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs and that was like 12 years ago. I couldn't remember much about it so thought I would give it a try. I get the whole Colorado Style thing and I like the honey. I think it is a good concept but here the pizza itself just misses the mark. We had the Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza and the Cajun pizza. Both sounded good on paper but were not very nice in real life. The dough is just so sweet! Maybe that is why it is good with honey. I did like their salad bar which has pretty much everything that you need to make a yummy salad. But I found the pizza very disappointing. They do have a gluten free menu and that would be important to some people so that is a plus but not for me. Oh well, I don't think I will be back. If I do find myself in another Beau Jo's I will just stick to the salad.

Since Adam Richman is my god, I had to go pray at his altar at BeauJo's. I thought the pizza was average but the the crust was a disaster. Ours looked and tasted uncooked. I am not sure how you would cook the rolled up edges of the Mountain Pie anyhow without burning the center. Its unfortunate the Mountain crust is their calling card as without it I would have been much more satisfied.

We keep going back...not because Beau Joe's Boulder is amazing and delicious, but because they are one of the only dinner salad bars in Boulder. We do love the laid-back ambiance there and the soup and salad bar COULD be great (if they kept it stocked and kept the soup warm). Very easy fix Beau Joe's...quality control! The pizza is not my favorite, but a lot of people seem to love it.

Amazing pizza! Arrived here sort of after lunch time, but before dinner time. The place was pretty empty. We were seated right away. Noticing we were not from around, we were given a little tutorial. Neat decor, pleasant bar area, and sports on the television. No complaints so far. We ordered a 3Lb motherlode. It did not disappoint, and it was perfect for 3. We took a small bit home, but would have destroyed the 2Lb. The ingredients were very liberally piled onto this amazing pie. The crust was unspeakably good with a little drizzle of honey. It went well with the sauce/ingredients. While I wanted to hibernate and bask in my food coma that was ensuing, I also wanted to eat more. Having a lot of great specialty pizza places in Indy, I was a little worried. This place definitely did not disappoint.

Came here for lunch on Saturday. The pizza buffet was good, and most of the salad bar was good as well. But some of the items on the salad bar were not so good. The cherry tomatoes look good to eat, but they should not cause tingling on the tongue! That is a sure sign the tomatoes were off their mark. The same goes for the baby corn. And now let's mention the soup of the day. It was an Italian wedding soup. But anybody with a nose should have known better than to try it. That soup was straight up sour. Sorry for the bad review, but seriously, where's your head at?

Beau Jo's has been a favorite Colorado stop for my husbands family for years. It being my first time in the area we decided it was a must go. Both of us were rather underwhelmed with the service and the food at this location. First off it took quite a bit of time for our server to come over to take our order. When we finally received our order it came out incorrect. I understand that this happens but, how they chose to fix it made little sense to me. Instead of bringing out a new pizza to replace ours they brought out the missing toppings in a bowl for us to put on top of the pie. This didn't help to make the pizza very flavorful since the toppings weren't cooked on it. Even so we still tried to enjoy the meal and the crust with honey was good. The service and the way they choose to handle mix ups could really use some help though.

So we just used the Hungry Buffs app to order or food...since we are trying to relax and not go anywhere. Uhh..after an hour and a half we got some of our food but not all. Not sure who's fault it was that it was forgotten, the hungrybuff deliverer or Beaujos but either way I am pissed about it. Plus the quality of the food we did order was cold and gross. So thanks for the waste of 40 bucks for a calzone and piece of cake.

I came to Beau Jo's for a late lunch and early dinner. I was seated right away and my order was taken promptly. All of the wait staff was extremely nice, but I would have to argue and say my waitress was the best. If you get a chance to ask for Lilly when going here please do. We had the nachos and the hardy ardy for appetizers and it was so filling we didn't need anything else. I would also recommend coming for happy hour because you can find great deals! All around it was a very enjoyable meal.

I haven't been to Beau Jo's since I was a kid. I love pizza especially thick crusted pizza. I purchased a small to go. It's expensive for the size of pizza. I was disappointed. It didn't look cooked all the way through. Tasteless, I don't think there was enough sauce on it. I was disappointed and I could have gotten two large pizzas, drinks for the price I paid for a personal size pizza.

Highly recommended and it's cheap! The mountain pie was AMAZING!! I personally didn't like eating it with honey on the crust, but thankfully that's optional so overall my meal was spectacular. I would eat here anytime and I would recommend it to anyone!!

I'm a little baffled why this place has a wait. We went tonight, the buffet night (guess that explains the wait?), and waited 15 minutes for a table. No biggie, gave the hubs and I a chance to take a long look at the menu. First of all, all the servers and staff were great and super friendly. My review really only focuses on food quality. We wanted the salad bar--it had been thoroughly picked over and not refreshed recently. There really wasn't much good lettuce left. The pizza is deceiving. It looks yummy and delicious, but is way too greasy but lacks flavor. The best part was the crust for sure and drizzling honey on it was a nice touch. But not enough to salvage it entirely. Maybe my review is a little tough, but I just want to throw a really honest opinion out there. Tuesday $4 22oz microbrews are great through!

Bad pizza at a pizza place. We sat on the patio and ordered the beer on special, were really enjoying the evening. Nice live music, beautiful sunset over the CU campus. Our pizza had a mess up and they were remaking it so we got free salad bar. Nothing unique here, just yummy salads with all the toppings. This was almost a 3-4 star review. But then our pizza came, and although we wanted it to be soooo good, it was not. It was not tasty at all. Net-Net: Would recommend. nice people, pizza is good. Too expensive. Was visiting from out of town and ordered pizzas on New Year's Day. The pizza was very good. Ordered one gluten free pizza (tasted as expected). Would rate them higher but when I ordered a Large they mistakenly wrote down XLarge. They charged me for the XL even though I called back (within an hour) and ask them why 2 pizzas were $63?! They said bc they miswrote the order - great accountability. When I just asked for a refund to the the credit card, they would only issue me a gift card. Weird. I don't live there so will never be able to use it. They made the order mistake but didn't really fix the issue in a way that was suitable for the customer.

Came here with my gf as we checked out CU Boulder. She wanted pizza and looked this place up. I had a mountain pie and she can't have gluten, so she had a prairie pie. I liked it. I got one with like chicken and bacon and ranch on it. It was good when I ate it, but it was actually better cold the next day. Maybe ranch is just better cold. Anyway, I liked it both ways. She liked hers as well, but I don't remember what she got. I wouldn't have known about the crust/honey thing if my girlfriend hadn't seen it when looking for a pizza place. I thought the crust was pretty good in general, but the honey thing was even better. Customer service was nice and friendly. I'd definitely come eat here again, but I'm not a pizza purist or anything (I'm from California).

Hands down amazing! My wife last visited this place as a kid! Simply amazing & you know it's great when the show Man vs Food made a pit stop! The pizza was light, yet filling with a humongous crust! This place is known for their large pizza crusts! You eat every part of the pizza & save the crust for last, so you can drizzle the crust with honey! Never heard of this concept, but my mouth was amazed! We'll be back again! They also offer a military discount!

If you love your pizza drowned in ranch dressing, or any of their other sauces, then come here. If you like wings drowned in bottled sauces, then come here. Is it possible to mess up pizza? The pizza here is edible, but by no means is it anything fantastic. I love that they have a gluten free crust option, but so do most other places in the Denver and Boulder areas. Although the 14 pound pizza challenge did catch my eye, I think that would be my only intrigue for coming back here... ever.

I don't typically write reviews, but I had the worst dining experience of recent memory at Beau Jo's on Saturday June 28th. When my wife and I arrived, our drink orders were immediately taken. Our server came back again at approximately 8:30 PM to take our food order. We ordered a salad bar and two medium pizzas. We finished our plates at the salad bar and then started waiting. After not seeing our waitress to clear our salad bar plates and refill our drinks, I took a look at the time, it was 9:45 PM and we had not seen our waitress for over an hour. I went inside and asked if we could see our waitress because we had not received our food order yet. A few minutes passed and our waitress came out. She handed us a bill and told us that she was sorry that she had not returned. I told her that we didn't want a bill because we had not received our food yet. My wife and I were very hungry, after climbing and hiking all day, and our patience was wearing thin. We watched inside as our waitress ran around like she had no idea what was going on. She then came back out and told us that the kitchen had made the pizza, but they had never been delivered to our table. They had mysteriously vanished. I asked to have our pizza to go and wanted our bill. The manager did not come talk to us, but gave us a discount on our bill. It really felt like a slap in the face. I will never return to Beau Jo's, even though I find their pizza quite tasty.

Too many tables in the restaurant it makes it so you can't get to the toilet or salad bar without shoving some other customer into their table. That's why we didn't get the salad bar or go to the toilet. They need to remove some tables and make it more comfortable for their customers who are eating and don't want to move every two minutes to let someone by. I have to say, Beau Jo's didn't live up to the hype. My boyfriend and I had seen Beau Jo's featured on a Food Network pizza special. Living in Ohio, we were so excited that there was a location in Boulder, where we would be for an upcoming vacation. The pizza was dry (not enough sauce) and we just weren't big fans of the honey crust. Honey on pizza? Not our style, I guess. The garlic honey bread was also too sweet. It was sopping with the honey. I give it a three only because the service was awesome. We had a young college guy as our server and he was really friendly, efficient and attentive. It would be one star if I were taking only food into consideration, but the service for sure bumped it up an extra star!

My first real mountain pizza! It was definitely delicious! The crust is obviously huge and they give you honey to drizzle on it which is beyond a delicious dessert. I ordered the mushroom appetizer which was ok. It came out really fast but it was a slow day and Im not gonna complain about how fast it was, especially not after a long hike! Got the salad bar which was perfect and had goldfish crackers, which is my personal favorite quirk that I got to indulge in! We had the mamma mia special pie, and nothing to complain about. Again everything was delish, the only reason for three stars was price. It was pretty pricey. Sitting outside with the atmosphere made it worth while. Probably will visit again. I ate here once and have done take out many times. My favorite is the Yukon speciality mountain pie. I've also tried their gluten-free pizza once and it was really good. One time, out of many, they made a mistake with our pizza. They made us another one quickly and gave us a free pizza. I got used to Beau Jo's once I dropped all my previous pizza expectations out the window. But should one get used to a style of food? Isn't that like giving up or lowering your standard? Yes, it is a bit of that. This is a Colorado mountain pie, not NY or neapolitan. It's rugged and a big crust and mostly bland if you don't eat meats like pepperoni. And you can try all configuration of the pie but I found at the end of the day, a pepperoni topping with some veggies will give you some flavor. Better yet, their Argentine pie which I believe is made with BBQ sauce is very good. And when their pies are on they're pretty good. But on an off day and the crust is undercooked, they're really off. From the outside, this location looks like it's about to go out of business soon. Once you get in, it's pretty crowded for dinner. I go here because it's convenient. But other than that, this location is a let down after you've been to the Idaho Springs restaurant. The best bet is the salad bar. Again, nothing fancy. One step above food service at college but it works.

This is somewhat a mixed review, with less experience than others have had... For my first and only experience, I ordered a pizza to be delivered - we were drinking at a brewery - there was no food there - I love to eat while drinking. Nobody was really that interested in making a food decision, so I made an executive decision and ordered from BeauJo's - resulting in the most expensive pizza you can imagine. It was $49 for an XL after delivery charge and tip (about $8). What a fabulous pizza though - piled with fresh (?) vegies on a big crust (see pics) which I think someone's loving hands played with before bestowing it upon us. This is probaby the best thick crust pizza I've ever had - especially considering that other deep dish style (which this is not I guess) are always so greasy but yummy. This crust was a non-greasy variety with excellent taste and cooked "properly". In the end, my delivered pizza was amazing, so was the price. Not so recommended for everyday - highly recommended if you want to try some great thick crust pizza. Probably best to keep costs down by going to visit them at home.

this is not pizza. (or was this spelled peetsa, like some weird genetically modified chicken that produces wyngz)... mmmmmm..... Pre-pre-cooked crust, "toppings" taken quite literally and placed uncooked on top of melted cheese and tomato paste. It was like a poor-man's version of a hobo pizza (take cracker, add tomato ketchup, place cheese over top, then microwave). Perhaps being snow-blind is an advantage, since its by the pound here... Like other reviewers I have read here, we were pumped to eat there several months ago after some colleagues recommended it and, yes, because we watched the man-vs-food episode when he quested there in the name of gastrointestinal fortitude. YIKES!!! This was a mix between Chicago style and New York style, but it wound up in Jersey somewhere... The 'deep dish' took about 7min to prepare and serve, and when we asked the manager if this was "really how it was supposed to look and taste" he was not sure what to think. If this is what you grew up calling pizza, I suppose it was. On the other hand, if you did not grow up on a spaceship during a long haul Mars mission you would have no way of... wait a minute - I bet the pizza in space is similar to this. No... I have much more respect for the space program than to compare this to any dehydrated ice cream or MRE... and don't get me started about how delicious the crust is with honey. First, its honey sauce, so it is a collection of yellow #5 and other flavors added to corn syrup. Second, thank goodness no honey is/was harmed in the creation of this.

The pizza is two stars. The dough tastes like something you would get from a frozen pizza at Costco. The Cajun Pizza was crazy greasy and did not taste "Cajun" whatsoever. The thickness of the toppings in the Mountain Pie does not remind me of Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. The saving grace of this place is the awesome staff. From the manager to the servers, they put up with me on my first day in Colorado and I managed to get extremely buzzed and then extremely hungover before the sun was even close to setting thanks to the very heavy hand of our excellent server, and maybe a little bit thanks to the altitude difference I forgot about until it was too late. But yeah, this place delivers (on alcohol).

Mountain pies already sound epic. And then they give you a pork green chili sauce option. That's all she wrote, fellas. Walking in a bit after 11, my friend and I got a small mountain pie to share. Pork green chili sauce, ricotta, hot chicken, and more Hatch green chiles on their honey whole wheat crust. Vintage healthy options! I loved the inside of the Boulder location, especially when using stones to create the bar counter. A clean, inviting environment. Our small mountain pie arrived, braided crust and all. The ricotta was the ideal light choice, allowing the chicken and the chiles to shine through. The chicken had the tiniest noticeable zip. The honey whole wheat crust was a winner, possessing that crunchy, airy/light quality. Get the honey ready! Gotta have it on your crust here. Why Oregon never really embraced such an idea (at least to my knowledge), I have no clue. Yes, I could have opted for the AYCE (all you can eat) pizza, soup, and salad bar for $8.99. However, with more places to try in such a short span of time, it was probably best on this occasion to get what I'd deem a light snack. I also saw a pork green chili cheeseburger pizza on the menu. Colorado is doing a great job so far in making me want to move. You up for a challenge? Get a partner and take on the 14-pound Grand Sicilian. One hour, two people. Only a few teams have done it. Considering how delicious the pizza is here, I wish I could take down at least 7 pounds of it. At the time of my visit, only 12 teams had won. It's $75 for the pizza, but winning teams get the pizza free, $100, T-shirts, and recognition on their wall. Beau Jo's had some great pie. I hope to be back in the future!

So, I hate to give anything less than stellar reviews usually - but I felt the need to post a little something here about Beau Jo's. Let me preface this with - I love Beau Jo's. I'm a fan. It's delicious. I have always gotten good service, they are always accommodating, pleasant, informative...etc... The decor is standard, it has a cute little bar, lots of beers, a few wines, and even gelato. Prices aren't too shabby either. BUT, I have celiac disease. Which means I can't eat gluten. (I unfortunately am also dairy free but they have daiya - yay! - which is the only cheese I can eat - major points for them there!) This is where the issue comes in. I first tried Beau Jo's when it opened here in Boulder back in the day. I loved it - got sick. Very sick. So did my mother and brothers (all have celiac disease, awesome genes, I know). Over the years I have attempted to go back (every few years, when in town), because, you know, GLUTEN FREE PIZZA. I get sick. Every. Single. Time. My mother too. (brother refuses to go back). My point being - I really WANT to be a fan. I've tried, over and over. But if you have Celiac (I can't speak for people with just a gluten intolerance), I wouldn't recommend eating here. Or do so at your own risk. If you aren't super sensitive - have at it! Because it's delicious.

Saw this on Man Vs. Food and it is now an annual stop on my yearly trips to Colorado. Great great great pizza. Probably my second favorite I have had after Chicago's. the wheat crust with the honey is to die for! I love building my own Mountain Pie! Also a great beer selection of local Colorado brews. Great choice after a day of hiking the Rockies.

We had seen an episode on Man vs Food that showcased Beau Jo's, so we had to try it out when we recently visited Boulder. Delicious pizza with a great combination of dough, sauce, and toppings. Really unique high crust that you can douse in honey when you chomp your way to the end of your slice. Honey is provided at the table, free of charge. Love the savory and sweet in a meal. We had great service and we even ordered an extra pizza for the road. We'll definitely stop here again when back in Colorado.

Let me start this review by saying - I am NOT a pizza person. It's on the bottom of my cravings list and while I don't really dislike it, I could go the rest of my life without ever eating it and not be upset. That being said, I enjoyed Beau Jo's. It's definitely different than any other pizza I've ever had. The crust is ENORMOUS! And I liked their idea of eating "leftover" crust with some honey. That was yummy!! The best part was that a couple at the table next to us decided to try the 14lb pizza challenge while we were there!!! We're big fans of Man Vs. Food, so to see one of these outlandish food challenges up close and personal was a real treat! We joined in with their family cheering them on and monitoring their progress. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to spare to wait and see if they "won," but let's just say it wasn't looking promising. ;)

I was extremely disappointed with this place, as I had heard several positive reviews and was excited to try it out. Also, I am a fan of Man vs. Food, and love to check out restaurants featured on the show. Unfortunately, the pizza was below average. I've had better from Pizza Hut and Dominoes, and that is saying a lot. I am giving Beau Jo's 2 stars because the service was solid.

I love pizza and this place was as good as some of the places back home. It didn't disappoint. We ordered a 3# veggie and everything tasted fresh. Some on here complained about the dough being too excessive, but I liked that. The honey wheat crust dipped in honey was like a dessert without buying a dessert. Great college town atmosphere inside, reminded me of Lawrence, KS joints. The staff was friendly and we had a larger group with three kids younger than 2. They were able to accommodate without any fuss and we had a great time. It wasn't busy, so I can't account for the service or quality of the food during the busier hours.

I am also very sad by seeing all the mixed reviews- and bad reviews. Beaujo's turned into my favorite pizza the first time I had it. I went to this Boulder location first. The crust is thick - the way I like it. I'm not a huge fan of thin crusts so jmo. I've never had a soggy crust like someone else was saying, so maybe they were having an off night? And honey to dip the crust in = big win in my book! lol Also, the toppings are always tasty and seem fresh. I've not had the salad bar but DH has, and he really enjoyed it. I wanted to steal off his plate for what it's worth, lol. Local Beer. Mmm. 'Nuff said. Also, on one occasion my party was seated outside (per our request) and it took a long time for someone to notice us. As soon as we called someone's attention they were very apologetic and our server even paid for all of our drinks (beers included) and our salad bar! It was exceptional service after that initial long wait and I was very impressed. Needless to say, I left a good tip. I'm a Beaujo's Fan for sure, and will continue to give them my business!

My first to experience BeauJo's, thought the place was neat. We had a big group so, they put us outside. It was a bit hot but nothing like texas weather(i'm from Texas). Last weekend we had a mini Man Vs. Food marathon and watched the Boulder episode. So when we saw a Beau Jo's commercial on tv this afternoon, that was enough to send us to the restaurant for dinner. We really, really wanted to like it. We're huge pizza lovers, so our hopes were high. Sadly, our experience was lacking. The menu is kind of strange, in that it's a much better deal to get a specialty pizza rather than building your own. So we got an Old Settler. Unfortunately, this thing was packed with onions and tomatoes, both of which were lukewarm at best. Bacon was almost nonexistent. The cheese and sauce were both good, but there wasn't nearly enough of either. The whole wheat crust reminded us of a watered down version of Mellow Mushroom crust. Service was super friendly all through our visit, except when it came time for the check- Our waitress disappeared. Granted, business was picking up at the point, but it wasn't so bad that we should've had to wait that long for our check. When she finally came back, she told us since it was our first visit we got to get a free cookie. Had we known it would've taken 10 more minutes for the cookie to show up, we probably would've passed. If that wasn't enough, the cookie was almost completely flavorless- The only thing that saved it was the chocolate chips and the fact that it was served warm from the oven. Overall, our visit was kind of a let down.

We have been to the Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs, not knowing it was the original. That was amazing! This one, not so much. We went on a Sunday night knowing it wouldn't be packed, even though it wasn't packed at all we still had to wait for the hostess to seat us for quite a few minutes. There were about 8 empty tables. So we get sat, look through the menus and decide on the 1# hamburger pizza, so we wait and wait and wait fir our server (Byron) to take our order. After about 10 minutes he comes back and says, " I bet you already know what you want!". Well yes Byron, I know what we want because it's been forever, not because I'm fat as your judging eyes seem to be saying. So much to his surprise we order the salad bar (don't worry it was drowned in ranch dressing either!) and our 1# pizza. He tells us to grab what we want at the salad bar and leaves. So we get our salads, come back and oops, no silverware or napkins. We look around for our boy Byron, no where to be found. So I go to the bar and ask the bartender for some roll ups(silverware rolled in a napkin), I must have said it wrong because she looked at me like I asked for a kidney or something. Ok no big deal, go and graze on my greens, and wait for the pizza. It comes out about 15 minutes later. Byron puts it on the stand and leaves, no ask if we need anything, maybe to check to see we didn't have plates or our empty drink glasses. So pop back up to the salad bar and grab 2 empty plates. Byron comes by 10 minutes later, the pizza is gone, if you know a Beau Jo's 1# you know it's small, so no surprise 2 people can eat it in 10 minutes. Byron drops off some fresh drinks , woo Hoo! Then he again in a seemingly judgy tone asks if we want some gelato. No thanks buddy just the check. So this wouldn't have been so bad if Byron hadnt been paying such close attention to the people next to us, it was a 4 top who each ordered a 1#'er so maybe he felt we would be cheap??????? Who knows. So, the pizza was great, small, but great. I like the crust, like the options you can pick and it was priced fair. The food I'd a solid 4 stars, but Byron brings it down to a 2 star review. We'll come back for sure, but just to get take out.

I hate to do it, but Beau Jo's is the only restaurant that is receiving less than 4 stars from me, after visiting several businesses in the Boulder-Denver area. Overall I liked Beau Jo's. The food was good (mountain pie stuffed with bacon and pepperoni, how can that not be good?). However, the service was a little on the blah side. When we first walked in, it took a while for someone to greet us. Once we were sat and had our drink orders taken, it was a while before our food order taken. Normally, I probably wouldn't have minded, but I was starving and you don't want to get on my bad side when I haven't eaten all day. I also thought that it was a little overpriced. We left full and satisfied food wise, but at the end of the day the amount of money that we dropped on two pizzas, regardless of the toppings, was a bit steep (no pun intended since we did order a mountain pie). Overall, a cool place to experience but probably not one that I would make regular pilgrimages to if I lived in the area.

Being relatively "new" to the Boulder area, I usually read whatever reviews I can find on an establishment before I decide to jump wallet first into their dining experience. But, Beau Jo's was different because I saw it featured on the Travel Channel's "Man vs. Food" show and I am notorious for jumping in where Adam Richman has already conquered (sort of) . Knowing full well that there was no way I was going to attempt the 14 pound mountain high pizza challenge, I decided to give their pizza a try just because it looked so damn good on television. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Now I know the camera adds pounds... but Beau Jo's pizza will undoubtedly add more pounds to your waistline than any 700 cameras ever could. The dough is puffy and delicious, crisp on the outside but oohey gooey warm and soft on the inside. All of the toppings are fresh, plentiful and piled high. And just for added measure, they have honey for you to put on the crust that's left over at the end of your pizza slice. Because, you know... when you think "pizza", naturally your next thought would be "honey", right? Don't worry, I had the same reaction... but oh my... it seriously hits the spot! They also have a salad bar for those of you who go to a pizza place and don't want pizza. It's adequate and stocked with the usual fixings, but nothing that would amaze your friends or fool your enemies. A simple kid's menu is also available, but let's be honest... if your kid decides they want something OTHER than pizza, check for a fever. Beau Jo's never leaves me hankerin' for more. In fact, I've been known to tell my husband to pull the car around so I won't be forced to walk one more step than is absolutely necessary. I don't like to waddle in public if I can help it. There are a few drawbacks to Beau Jo's, but it is NOT the food. Parking can be frustrating... no... infuriating is more like it. More often that not, the place is extremely busy, especially during the months when school is in session. I think I once saw the entire UC football team in there for dinner one night. It is also a local favorite for every parent with an unruly child it seems. There's nothing I hate more than trying to eat with a cute (but exceedingly annoying) child either running in circles around your table or staring at you while you chew. Lastly, there is also a balloon artist that entertains on certain nights. Second only to the singing of the birthday song, this is my most HATED form of "entertainment" that restaurants have pulled out of their hat. But, don't worry... once the pizza coma kicks in.... you won't notice any of it....

Being from out of town, I saw this place on Man v. Food, and wanted to check it out. Let me tell you, I am bummed they don't have one of these places in LA, because it was GREAT. The amount pizza combinations you can make is mind-boggling. The service here was outstanding, and if I lived in Boulder, it would certainly be a main staple. The girlfriend and I ordered a 1lb Mountain Pie, and split the pizza in half for topping preferences. Our waitress said we could even split the sauces and cheeses, but, we kept those to the standard options. Pizza was super tasty and something different than what I am used to. The beer selection was also great. Check this place out, especially if you are an out-of-towner like me.

I love the pizza here! But sometimes, the staff will blow you off to be on their cell phones and if you ask for something, they'll look kind of annoyed. I had an experience where one of them didn't explain the prices when we asked very clearly and we ordered that pizza thinking it would be about $15... but instead it was $60. They lowered the price a bit but I was not impressed by the way this went. I drive 45 miles from Aurora to Boulder to eat this pizza and it's worth it every time... minus the sometimes not so friendly staff.

I really thought I'd like this place...but I wasn't impressed. I met my friend for lunch here and had their $8.95 lunch buffet. It was advertised as all-you-can-eat pizza, salad bar, and soup. However, there wasn't any soup (which I really wanted since it was cold and snowy out!). The salad bar was okay. I wasn't wow'ed with the freshness or selection. I was able to get some pizza that just came out of the oven, but even then it wasn't that great. I didn't like the big chunks of onion in the sauce. One of the pizzas was pretty good: green chiles, jalapenos, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. I really loved that combination, but wasn't enough to win me over. I probably won't be back there again. It is a good deal price-wise, and if you're on a time constraint. But I think there might be some better deals, with far better food, elsewhere in Boulder.

I see all the mixed reviews here and it hurts. I love Beau Jos. I hadn't been to one in over 10 years...and loved that it hadn't changed at all. The pizza was amazing, the crust and honey is still as awesome as ever. The local brew I had on tap was also amazing. I am the opposite of a hippie but I can't help loving Boulder, and all it has to offer....even the pizza.

Ho hummmm...sat outside on a lovely Wednesday evening here. Ordered a 2# high altitude pie, with sausage, pepperoni, green bell pepper, black olives, mushrooms, and red onions. It was all right for pizza, but I was not impressed with the crust...too cracker-like on the outside. I want it to be almost like a baguette - crispity on the outside, yum and chewy on the inside. Where, oh where do I find something like that? Anyhoo, we also each had the salad bar, which was fine. And our waiter was friendly and attentive. Overall, not bad, but not stellar. We'll have to keep trying other pizza joints around here.

Definitely not the best Beau Jo's in the state, but the pizza is pretty good. Once you've been here, you pretty much know what you're getting: huge crust, tons of toppings, and heartburn later. We pretty much stick to the traditional offerings but they've all been pretty good. The crust is a little on the bland side, so make sure you dunk it in honey. Also, the honey-cheese bread is a must. Sounds weird... and it kind of is... but it's delicious. Salad bar is great (completely stocked with fresh ingredients) but honestly, why would you bother when you're ordering a giant pizza? The service has always been awesome. Drinks never empty, napkins when you need them, and all the honey you can stomach. They're friendly and polite... exactly what customer service is all about. They were also great when working with our student group to set up a profit sharing for a convention we hosted.

Beau Jo's is actually pretty tasty pizza! Their sauce is definitely something to Yelp home about. We ordered the Wheat crust, and it was crisped perfectly well. The toppings were really, really good - all of the veggies were fresh, and the meat wasn't overly greasy. Aside from the pizza and its really great, fresh toppings, it is truly fantastic that they have real Gluten Free options - you can get your crust AND beer fix, and be in Celiac heaven at the same time. The happy hour specials seem pretty good, too. I live in an East Coast college town, and you simply would NOT see any beer for $2.25 in a place that is actually clean. I'm a fan. And... I'll admit it. I got a picture by the Man Vs. Food wall. It was fun!

Oh Bea Jo's. You used to remind me of ski trips with my family now I am just constantly disappointed. Some friends were visiting and the Boulder location is very close to our house..Despite my warning that I did not think it was very good, they wanted to try it anyway... We got a plain cheese pie. The crust was soggy and the sauce unflavored and bland. I am a plain cheese pizza eater so fresh toppings don't impress me. If you can't get plain cheese right, why would I waste time with toppings anyway? And, pizza crust dipped in honey is just gross. Get pizza right and then start getting creative. The only saving grace is the gluten free options, if you are on a strict GF diet, they have several options for you.

I LOVED THIS PIZZA!!!! The best part about it- DELICIOUS and not greasy. Several of my friend and I shared the BBQ Chicken pizza on the honey wheat crust. This Beau Jo's is cool and everything...but if you want to experience the real deal, head to Idaho Springs. The decorations and ambiance alone are worth it. Plus if it's super busy, go grab a fresh brew at Tommyknocker's next door. I am surprised the Man VS. Food crew couldn't spend an extra hour in the car and go the ORIGINAL beau jo's. Come on guys! It's on the historic landmark registry, for crying out loud. On that note, the food is great! Skier Mike's is my favorite, hands down!!

I have heard confilicting views and had to try for myself. This is the grossest pizza I've ever had. And no, I don't frequent the freezer for frozen pizzas..I like the real thing. I am a thin slice, plain cheese kind of girl. Maybe if you are used to deep dish (Chicago style) Beau Jo's is good? But it isn't even that. The crust is soggy (not chewy) and the sauce is not seasoned well, under salted and just ICK. Not really into dipping my crust into honey either. WTF? Let pizza be pizza and dessert be dessert. Service was just so-so.

I love Beau Jo's pizza, however, I would NEVER go back to the Boulder location. We went around 2:00PM and there were only two other occupied tables and still we stood in the lobby for almost 10 minutes before getting seated. The bartender looked righ at us several times and did not say a word. Then it took 30 minutes to get our food and the server never refilled our drinks once. AWFUL!!!! Food was good as always. This Beau Jo's has the worst service of any restaurant I have ever been to.

Stopped in to try the thick crust pizza. Service was friendly, food was good. We got a 2 lb mountain pie: 1/2 sausage combo, 1/2 dude ranch. Normally $18.99 for a 2 lb pie. Was charged $20.01 to split. Not sure what the 2 cents was about. Enjoyed the dude ranch more than the sausage combo, which basically tasted like your typical supreme pizza. The honey whole wheat crust was nice. It actually tasted pretty good dipped in honey. 2 lb = 8 slices = enough for 3 people.

My wife surprised me with a trip to Beau Jo's. She's not a pizza fan partly because she's trying to stay gluten free. Fortunately they have a gluten free menu. We were seated right away which was nice. There was a bit of a line when we left so the place is busy. Best to get in earlier. The waiter was spot on arriving just in time to take our order. I ordered the Garlic Cheese Toast and the Beaughetti. Now I don't normally order spaghetti when going out because invariably restaurants are unable to make it well. I ordered it with the mixed hamburger and sausage sauce. I ordered the Cheese Toast in part because it was sour dough bread and because the picture of the Beaughetti showed it was fairly normal sized and it was identified as a "Smart Meal". The Cheese Toast came out pretty quickly and it was nice and hot. There were 8 smallish pieces with a hefty slice of mozzarella cheese covering each piece. About the only issue was that there was quite a bit of butter or oil on the bread. The last two pieces had liquid squirting out to the sides and down my chin a little. So a little overboard there :) When the Beaughetti came out just about when I was starting to look around for the waiter. In other words, about right on time. The shock really was that it was fricking gigantic. Had I known it was so large, I wouldn't have ordered the garlic bread. They used a small thick crust pizza, rolled up the edges to make a bowl and served it like that. I had the choice of Penne pasta or Linguini noodles for the spaghetti. I chose the Linguini. I have to say that this was the best restaurant spaghetti I've ever eaten. The sauce was actually meat sauce and not half a bottle of catsup with some chunks of meat. The noodles were cooked just right, not squishy and not undercooked. I was pretty full but thought I'd try the crust. It seemed a little undercooked but the combination of it and the leftover spaghetti was pretty flavorful. Had I bailed on the bread, I would have eaten the bowl. Overall it was pretty good.

I'm amazed at all the bad reviews. What kind of pizza are you people used to eating? Frozen? I personally have been told that I have a "problem" when it comes to Beau Jos that might require a 12 step program. I'm from Chicago, I've spent time in New York and I lived in Portland, OR which has some good thin crust pizza as well. I tend to be indiscriminate in my food choices and will accept mediocre pizza most certainly, but I find, usually, Beau Jos to be extremely good. I could give a rats ass about the service. It is a college town. You take what you get and suck it up. I've had far worse service and much better service. It is adequate usually and some servers are very pleasant if not highly skilled. You think college kids tip well? Then what makes you think excellent servers would choose to work at a pizza joint in a college town? Duh. The pizza, however, is delicious. I've had one bad experience, where the pizza was not cooked fully. I still ate it. I like the thicker crust with the heavy outer edge. I think the cheese used is good quality and the flavor of the sauce is not overpowering. I like the balance - they do not oversauce their pizza which I despise. I always get pepperoni & black olive and I eschew ridiculous toppings like goat cheese and artichokes - just more ridiculous ways to ruin a perfectly good pizza. The pepperoni is of good quality and moreover - it is crispy, not soggy like some places give you. I can name two places in town that sell pizza by the slice that slop the toppings on pre-cooked cheese pizza and warm in the oven - sacrilige! Disgusting as well. If you prefer thin crust NY style or are a staunch Chicago style this falls outside of both those categories. It is also a starch lovers dream with the heavy outer crust. I like it very much and my friend will tell you I seldom go on and on as I just have about any food items because I really am indifferent about food, not a foodie at all. I may be delusional about this, it is possible, but I prefer to think this is truly good pizza. If you concern yourself with quality service over quality food - pick a fancy restaurant and leave the seats for the rest of us. Oh...and I never pay more than $10 for a small pizza, which feeds me 2-3 meals, which is $5/meal - a very good price if you ask me.

We got the salad/pizza bar. The pizza was wonderful. The salad bar could use a little updating, but it's good. My son got the Kid's Beaughetti. He loved it.

This is a solid 3 star place. The pizza didn't really do much to amaze me, but I am new to the whole 'honey with your crust' idea. I am hooked. They have really good honey. They have wonderful gluten-free options, and are very accomadating to dairy-free limitations as well. The waitresses are nice and helpful, and there are dual flush toilets to save on water, which is fun. They have the mountain pie, prairie pie, and I think one other option as far as the crust thickness goes. Mountain is thick, prairie is thin. We ate the Mountain pie and it was way too thick for any dough, but this dough is not that good, so it makes it a little worse. There are several options for toppings, but none that wow me.

Wow... and that's not a good wow. From beginning to end this was a disappointment. Brought a friend in here last night with vague memories of eating at another location and wanting to try the one in Boulder. Right off the bat, it took a little while to get seated, and not a long little while, but too long when we could see the staff all sitting at the bar right in front of us. Next, the waitress was nice enough, but a little too zealous when it came to wanting to explain the menu, and absent when we were ready to order. Ugh, the experience was so bad I don't really want to write out the whole thing, the long and short --- our apps came out cold, our pizza was nasty and WAY over priced ($17.99 for a pizza that fits on a small dinner plate and is sportin' rubbery chicken?), the sauce was watery with an almost moldy after taste, and you could tell the oregano came out of a giant shaker from Sysco. The best part about the meal was the honey for the crusts, really really yummy clover honey. After each suffering through a slice and me explaining what the honey was for we decided to cut the crusts off and just eat those. We should have stayed home with a Tony's from Safeway, hell, a 99 cent Totino's would probably have been better. Oh, one last thing, when my friend went to pay the bill and the waitress asked "How was it?" and he said, "Terrible," she just said, "OK" and gave him his change. Again, wow...

UGH. Not a fan of Beau Jo's. At all. I had my first Beau Jo's in Durango when it opened, and for a place that prides themselves on their pizza, they make a TERRIBLE pie. I went a second time in Boulder, and was once again, completely taken aback at how bad their pizza was. Too much sauce, nasty crust, unappetizing tasting toppings.. just everything I don't want to deal with when I'm eating pizza. Sure, I've never had anything but the pizza, but isn't it supposed to be good if that's pretty much all they advertise?

I had my first stab at Mountain Pie while in Boulder over the weekend. It reminded me of Chicago's Giordanos yet with a twisted crust. Much better than the Chicago pie yet nothing that can top Jet's Pizza back in Detroit. The service was real cool and the drink specials were definitely gtg, but the pizza was not as fantastic as I expected, though mi tee taste ee. This chain is found all over CO so if you have a chance to get to others I highly recommend it since the experience may be different from this one. The fact that they offer gluten free options is also a plus you may want to take advantage of if this is your bag. Just remember 'Mountain Pie' when thinking of this place, it is their specialty.

I did not enjoy this pizza both times I have tried it. The crust was perhaps the worst of all - very very dry. Almost like a cracker. Not a fan of "Colorado style" pizza I guess. It is hard to make a pizza that I don't want the leftovers the next day. And I do not understand putting honey on pizza crust.

Well, that was...bland. Two stars is very generous. Beau Jo's is a pizza place that serves "mountain pie" style pizza - sorta like a deep dish with tons of crust, I suppose. The atmosphere of the place seems clean but sort of incomplete - it lacks in decor and such. It seems fairly friendly, and there's a salad bar, if you're into that. They also have a "full" bar, but that seems to mean cheap, poorly made margaritas and a meager wine selection. On to the food... We went on Valentine's Day, and it was about half full. Service was adequate though unimpressive throughout. We ordered the garlic cheese bread appetizer and a 2-pounder pizza, half Hamburger Combo and half Skier Mike. The garlic cheese bread came out promptly. It was a light french bread with a garlic butter on it and topped with mozzarella. It was ok but pretty bland. You can't really make such a thing bad, per se, but there wasn't anything special either. There was hardly any garlic flavor, and the cheese and bread had a kinda cheap texture, but this was still, amazingly, the best part of the meal. The pizza came out next. To elaborate on my earlier description of a mountain pie, it was a fairly small diameter pizza that was about 2 inches tall, i.e. heavy on the toppings. The crust is a rolled affair, meant to be almost like an attached dinner roll to be dipped in the included honey. Both pizza types were exceptionally bland; I could hardly tell the difference, despite fairly different meats and such. The sauce was awful - watery with zero flavor. It is easily the worst sauce I've experienced other than on frozen pizzas, and many of those even have it beat. The cheese was cheap and flavorless. The chicken and "Canadian bacon" were flavorless and rubbery. The pepperonis were cheap and thin. About the only topping of decent quality was the green pepper. The crust was another disaster - oh-so dry and flavorless. I don't think that honey went particularly well with the crust, but it was a vast improvement just because it added some flavor. And this small-ish pizza was $18. I won't go back. Beau Jo's is a sub par pizza joint, and I do not recommend it.

The pizza can be pretty good if you manage to pick the right one, but the salad bar is worthless, and the help is even worse. The host/hostess seem intent on seating people in the worse seats first, even if the restaurant is empty, the servers seems sullen and reluctant, and good luck getting a take-out call answered. Does it sound like I've been there multiple times? Unfortunately, the place is ridiculously kid friendly, but thankfully my kids are old enough that I never have to go there again.

this place is right down the street from me, and it took three years before i ever went. they had a decent lunch buffet, and my sister and i liked it alright. she enjoyed the fact that the salad bar had a ton of bacon on it. the only weird thing is that they promote dunking the crust in honey afterward. that is so completely gross to me, but boulderites are weird... so whatcha gonna do. at the buffet, my favorite pizza was the standard crust with sausage. it is almost like a chicago style pizza, in the sense that it is deep and layered. i ordered this once again for delivery, and decided that this style seems better when you are just eating a couple pieces at the place itself. the pizza is so huge and heavy that it seems almost daunting to have in your house afterwards. the muse has to be upon you to go to beau jo's, but that isnt really a bad thing.

The pizza and the crust is delicious because it is sweet and fluffy and they provide honey bears at every table. The honey crust + honey to dip it in is delicious, and amazing how well it goes with cheese and tomato sauce. The beer selection is also good, and reasonably priced. Look into the myriad of Happy Hour specials from 3-6 pm. Most notably the $0.75 Coors/Miller Lite Sun-Thurs 3-6pm.

Between the salad bar and the pizza you can't go wrong! We had the 5 pound pizza between six of us and it was more then enough. Of course we had salad bar with it. It was reasonably priced and the service was decent. Definitely worth trying if you want some pizza.

What an excellent experience! We came in to try the Boulder location to celebrate the closing on a house! We were greeted immediately by 3 staff members. the place was warm and welcoming and no matter where we would have sat we would have been able to see a television. Our server was incredibly friendly. we had eaten at other Beau Jo's locations and have enjoyed all of them. There was around 10 beers on draft of all styles. We both ordered the New Belgium seasonal ale. It was just what the doctor ordered. We started our meal with an order of wings. They were great!! The server had informed us that they werent deep fried also when we told her how much we loved them. We love the mountain pie and ordered a pepperoni and sausage on wheat crust. We LOVE the wheat crust. our pizza came out just as we finished our wings and it was awesome!! We even had some to take home for later. This location also has gelato. We asked if we could get some to take home and there was the perfect size for the 2 of us. We have nothing bad to say about this place and are a little confused by the few posts of people that didnt like it. We will definately return and hopefully very soon!

We ordered 2 pizzas (delivered) among other things. The flavors on the pizzas were good but I don't know who enjoys that much dough with their pizza. The pizza has a home-made feel to it and I don't mean that in a good way. There was more pizza crust (which was super thick and doughy) then actual pizza. I would take 2 or 3 bites and be at the crust again. My friend ordered bread sticks with this meal which we later laughed about since there was twice as much leftover crust than the full order of breadsticks. If you LOVE thick doughy non-crispy pizza, go for it!

Being from Chicago some friends in Colorado swear this is the best pizza they have found out there and I have to agree with them. I love the thick crust with the thinner middle. I had a calzone on this visit and it was one of the tastiest I have had. A tad on the spicy side but totally delicious. I eat a lot and this calzone did me in. I had half of it leftover for lunch the next day! Service at this location was quite slow and the servers seemed more interested in grabbing food from the salad bar and sitting down for dinner than serving their tables. Always love the honey for the bread its that sweet after pizza you need! Great job again Beau Jo's I will be back!

Five stars, hands down. AMAZING pizza...period! I got the centurion (love any pizza with fresh garlic), and had them use half tomato sauce and half of the sauce comes with this pizza. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I got the thick crust, which while I thought the crust around the pizza was a bit on the thick side (a lot of doe), it was a really good quality, good tasting, actually, one of the best pizzas I've ever had. And I've had some good pizzas...NY, Europe, Chicago..I didn't expect that from a college town pizzeria. Very glad we went there. And definitely catch them during their happy hour. Great deals on the beer and food! Oh, and GIANT KUDOS to their allergen menu...being I had absolutely NO food allergies until a couple years ago, it has been a bit of a struggle for me to go out and enjoy food the way I used to (I am known to for being able to throw down a good meal, have a grand appreciation of food, and have a fairly large appetite for a girl), so it was a sad day to find that I could not enjoy one of my greatest pleasures in life the way I used to. I appreciate any placed that takes the time to cater to people with food allergies, as it not the easiest thing to live with. I didn't even have to ask, didn't have to feel like I was being a pain or picky, it was all right there in front of me! Wow! How I wish every restaurant was like that...mabye one day. :-) That, or these allergies will mysteriously disappear, as mysteriously as they appeared into my life...

I had Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs and that was like 12 years ago. I couldn't remember much about it so thought I would give it a try. I get the whole Colorado Style thing and I like the honey. I think it is a good concept but here the pizza itself just misses the mark. We had the Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza and the Cajun pizza. Both sounded good on paper but were not very nice in real life. The dough is just so sweet! Maybe that is why it is good with honey. I did like their salad bar which has pretty much everything that you need to make a yummy salad. But I found the pizza very disappointing. They do have a gluten free menu and that would be important to some people so that is a plus but not for me. Oh well, I don't think I will be back. If I do find myself in another Beau Jo's I will just stick to the salad.

Since Adam Richman is my god, I had to go pray at his altar at BeauJo's. I thought the pizza was average but the the crust was a disaster. Ours looked and tasted uncooked. I am not sure how you would cook the rolled up edges of the Mountain Pie anyhow without burning the center. Its unfortunate the Mountain crust is their calling card as without it I would have been much more satisfied.

Tried this place for the first time when I visited a buddy and his wife in CO. Really feel like they make gourmet pizzas. Like an australian four and twenty (pot-pie).... Love the honey for the crust - genious.
