Been here four times just this week, I love this place!!! Lunch is really cheap, only $8.00 and rolls are 50 % off.The service is awesome and great atmosphere, this is a hard to find restaurant in the mountains

I'm from Florida, so my opinion on sushi in the middle of the country is a little skewed. In the summer, the prices at Nozawa are about right for the food you get. I suggest getting the smaller, less frilly rolls to get the most bang for your buck. The simple rolls are the best anyways (spicey tuna). Its the best priced sushi in town in the summers, and pretty decent for the money. The hot meals are pretty good as well, and always tastier when they are half off in the summer.

Came here after my daughter requested sushi. The place was empty (on a Friday night) which should have been my first indication to turn around! My daughters sushi was ehh at best. I had chicken teriyaki which was inedible. The chicken actually looked like sloths after a rain storm. So disgusting...and I feel terrible to have to write this. On a positive not, all entrees & sushi rolls were 50% off but I would preferred to not have paid any money for my meal! Our waitress was so kind and a great server! Will not be back or recommending.

Reviews on yelp are mixed but this place isn't bad. Not as good as sushi in any big city but if you're craving sushi, this is a decent option. Salmon and eel was excellent, tuna was just ok. Friendly service, lots of locals, very casual. Menu includes Thai, Japanese and Chinese dishes. My friend had szechuan shrimp and we shared fried potstickers, both of which were really good. Full bar and every Asian beer you've ever heard of.

Terrible food, terrible service. I don't think there is anymore that needs to be said.

I was very disappointed with our recent dining experience at Nozawa. Yes, you get 50% off dinner entrees and rolls, but when the prices are sky high, 50% off is still not cheap. And the quality was mediocre at best. I was pleased to see Hamachi Kama on the menu, but what I received was the worst Yellowtail Collar I have ever had. Small, dry, and flavorless. My daughter's Lo Mein was also watery and flavorless. My son's teriyaki chicken was also watery and flavorless. I ordered two rolls (Hama Hama and Double Double) and they had little flavor. Wasabi was weak. One bite I had and a distinct earth-like flavor that I had never had in a sushi restaurant. I know eel can have a faint dirt flavor sometimes but this was overpowering. The Yummy Roll and Crunchy Roll were fair. I guess I should have listened to my intuition. Service was lacking. We had to get our server's attention several times. And, to top it off, 20% was added to our party of 6. I tried to find a hidden gem for sushi in the area and avoid some of the high prices around but Nozawa was no bargain.

OVERPRICED! $20.95 for Udon?!?!?!? Outrageous! Got in late to Avon and headed to Nozawa for sushi. It's very casual with extremely high prices for pretty medicore sushi. While I understand that you aren't going to get sushi like you would in Japan or even in California in the mountains, this place should be ashamed to charge what they do for strip mall sushi. I won't be going back.

Sushi stop #2 for the day and they did not disappoint. We had the Yummy Roll and white tuna it was utterly delicious. All the right flavors. The sushi was so good we then tried the Spring Mix & Myshroom Salad with Ginger Vinaigrette and the Garlic Basil Stir Fry with Scallops. The stir fry was wonderful. A full complement of great vegetables - not just onion, pepper, carrots - and the sauce was very flavorful. Service was excellent.

Awesome sushi rolls and great Asian cuisine! The waitresses are extremely nice. Its a calm and quiet atmosphere with classy decorations. I'd recommend coming here after a day of skiing or just to go out with family/friends. Try to get there for happy hour for great deals!

Came highly recommend by the concierge and Yelp. Not to mention the 30% off deal on their rolls and entrees(rice plate). So off we went to test the waters. The place was bigger than I thought it would be. It is very deceiving from the outside. We were welcomed and was told we have our choice of table. The female staff that served us was Lee. She was very efficient and super cool! We decided to try their Padthai. It is the best ever! I'm not one to order that on my own but when tried some of it i'm hooked! It was very savory not overly sweet. That's why I like it. The chicken curry was simply out of this world. Tons of chicken meat and was spiced the right way! I asked for hot and hot it came! We had the calamari appetizer that came with this orange sauce that was excellent! I had to dip the calamari and I don't usually use sauces on anything. The decor was very un-Japanese like IMHO. It wasn't like any other restaurant. They have a small sushi bar that was full when we walked in. Basically clean restaurant with great tasting food and a stone throw away from the Westin resort. They also stay open till 10pm on weekends. Awesome!

The sushi lovers that we are, my roommates and I took to Nozawa on a late night binge this past week after moving. None of us had been there but had heard good reviews. We ordered two different salads, the spring mix with mushrooms and a delicious ginger dressing as well as a seaweed salad which is my favorite. Moving right along we order some specialty rolls that were half off!! Ca-ching! We wanted some spice in our life and ordered the Atomic Shrimp Roll, the Tiger Roll and to round it out something not so spicy the Sunset Roll. All were delicious, however in all of our opinions not that spicy. None the less we were please and the meal was filling, well prepared and simply scrumptious. For all of this and waters all around we paid approximately $45. I will definitely be going back especially because its walking distance to my house and a great deal!

Disgusting food. I went here late night after snowboarding for the whole day when I was both starving and exhausted. I simply wanted some sort of caloric intake and I wasn't being picky. I had to send the sushi back to the kitchen twice because it was so horrible. I ended up eating nothing, and wholey regretted my decision to eat here. Don't make the same mistake I did - just go to Yama when you are craving sushi.

If this review were solely based on their Thai and other asian dishes it would be a 5, but we also had the sushi... We loved everything we had, but the sushi. It was clearly not fresh, an the fish tasted a but like the refrigerator. We did not finish it. The curries and other dishes were Fantastic as was the service.

We were a bunch of 8 hungry people waiting to fill our stomachs after the awesome time rappelling. Any decent food would have tasted great. But, we had a pretty bad time here. + The fried rice here was terrible! - The taste was not good at all, the ingredients were not fresh and they added so much turmeric (!) in the rice. (rating : 1 star) + My wife had Sesame Tofu - It was decent. Rating (3 stars) + My friends had the lunch platter - It was ok. Not so fresh food though (2.5 stars) Check out for better options before you go here (if you decide so).

It was good for some of the sushi places I have been in land locked colorado! :) Nothing crazy special, but good for what you pay for...and they have a good happy hour...I have only had the sushi there so I couldn't tell you about the other food. Had the spicy tuna roll which was fine but the spicy yellowtail which tasted a little old and weird to me...

Best potstickers and won ton soup, reasonably priced. We eat here twice a week when we are in the Vail area in the summer.

Me and my friends love going to this place. The sushi is delicious and the staff are warm and welcoming. I would recommend trying out the "Snow Roll" which is my favorite! The ONLY reason I give it less than a 5 star is because they serve Thai food that is not that good. But for sushi, I would give it a 5 star!
(4)Bee N.
Gotta try their dragon roll and warm pomegranate soju :)
(5)Kenneth W.
Watch out for the salt! We ate there 2 days ago and I gained 2 and a half pounds from a small meal. I've lost them in 2 days. No doubt about the fact that this must have been excessive salt intake.
(2)Bee N.
I love happy hours and they have really really good warm pomegranate soju
(4)Do-You R.
On par with any sushi place in the valley. Without all the hype, pretentious bs and money hungry waitstaff (matsiushi!$). It's casual atmosphere and very consistent experience has put me into a trance like state where it's a place I always recommend on date night.
(5)Steve N.
I'm happy. The GF, me, and the daughter have been. No revelations. Just good quality food in a modest setting served by friendly people. Expensive, of course, but this is a resort town. Hit up the happy hours and it will be flatland pricing. Three rolls at 30 percent off (spider, spicy salmon, salmon skin) were $32.86, without tip or drinks.
(4)Justin H.
Good sushi and lots of fun. Specials are when you want to go.

I used to be a regular here. The sushi is good, and the service was fine. After going in the other day and having to serve myself, and being told by the owner that she has other customers, I no longer eat there. I hope you won't either. (Seriously, I got my own menu, napkins, and even got my own food because it was sitting on the bar for forever.)
(1)J T.
Lackluster fish was disappointing. It's the off season and I know that many places slow down... But the quality didn't impress.
(3)Tavey H.
I should have known this place was going to be trouble when the person that brought me here suggested I check out the MARGARITAS? !?! I ordered the chicken panang bento box. Not a bad price for the amount of food but what I recieved was not panang...cream of panang perhaps. Im used to panang being a nice full red with peas....not even close. I also ordered a spider roll since the menu claimed it had crab..IT DIDNT. It was imitation. ....I know I moved to the mountians but come on...

I was a regular here for a long time. I won't be going back after disappointing service by the manager and an inedible meal. When I complained that my meal was missing components and that the food that was on my plate was inedible, I received no "fix" or service to help the problem. Instead I was completely brushed off. It was extremely disappointing and hurtful, after years of loyalty, to be brushed off with horrible service and extremely disappointing food quality. I went beyond this and emailed them only to receive the same service. After being in customer service, I know how to treat my customers. Their management might need a few lessons.

Generous portion of wine. Potstickers are the best thing on the menu! The pad Thai tasted like salt mostly and the sushi was mushy.

Before thinking about eating at Nozawa Sushi you might want to go across the street to City Market to find perhaps better more palatable Sushi.

The Sake with Pineapple is a must! Their rolls are absolutely delicious and they have so many choices, the price was good for us change of season so you SAVE SAVE SAVE. One thing that was odd was our waiter, he totally seemed as if he was in another world or something forgot my husbands beer came back after we finished our food and apologized. Oh well it was 04/20 so we just let it slide. Other than that, this spot is for sure one staying on our good list.

Nozawa is amazing! It is definitely not a high class or fine dining sushi place but if you are in the valley and looking for a good meal and to be treated well, Nozawa is the place to go. The owner is often times behind the bar preparing the sushi for guests and makes sure everyone is. We go here once a week and have never left unhappy.. In fact, we typically leave happier! ;) Keep up the good work Nozawa!!

OK, don't expect Ebisu... but this place is a really good find. Most of our group is from the SF Bay Area, so we think we have a pretty fine appreciation for sushi. That said, we really don't expect much from sushi when we travel to the mountains. At Nowaza we were surprised... we found the food great, the service amazing, the prices fair and the clientele fun (at least on the evening we went). Their pot stickers are quite yummy, our selection of sushi was very good (for a mountain restaurant, of course) and the desert is fun (especially if you let your server create it for you). As for the service, our recommendation is to seek out Jacob if you're looking for great service combined with a personality that doesn't quit! We enjoyed our evening here and intend to return for the food and atmosphere.

I wouldn't call this one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to, but for the price, this place should be a go-to spot for any local or frequent visitor to the area. We visited this summer and rolls were half-off. The staff was really friendly, and the atmosphere light and casual. All in all, an excellent value for the price and a great night out with my sushi-loving family.

My friend and I came here for dinner and were seated immediately on a Saturday night. It was very quaint and the server Rachel was very friendly and awesome! She even recommended some places to go out after dinner around the area and was very attentive throughout our dining experience. We were disappointed with the costs of the entrees but I guess its beaver creek and its expected. We ordered the thai fried rice for $13.95 which is pretty ridiculous. It was plain and bland. The beef was a little hard and burnt. I wouldn't recommend it especially for that price tag. There wasn't even any flavor in the pineapples. As for the eggplant with pork sauce entree, it was delicious! I was very skeptical about ordering it since I've had many eggplant dishes before and am particular about them. However was very impressed with the taste and how they prepared the eggplant. It was $15.95 for the entree which is a bit over the top but was worth it compared to what other restaurants in the area was charging for dinner.

Sushi rolls really pretty bland. Service good

The mud season deals are the best!
(4)Alex C.
Favorite sushi joint ever! Great specialty rolls, I highly recommend the Double Double, the Nozawa and the Sunset. I've had sushi all over the country and this small place in the middle of the mountains is still the best in my book!
(5)Jim B.
Stopped here for a quick sushi dinner. Service fast and friendly. Sushi was not great. Decor even worse. What did I expect in a shopping center restaurant...
(2)Leonardo S.
Great Service, good and affordable location to Crash when you are in Avon Colorado (Vail, Beaver Creek)
(5)Amy B.
I decided to give this place a second chance and have since given it a 3rd and a 4th and a 5th. The sushi has been amazing! I guess I was hard on them the first time--or maybe it was a really bad day for them. The atmosphere is still a bit drab and I stay away from anything not sushi. The Snow Roll is my favorite!

I have been going to Nozawa for a year and a half, as I live in Avon, and the last two times I have been were very disappointing. This last time was almost an unbelievable experience. Our waitress yelled at our table for her mistakes. When she brought soup out to us AFTER our sushi had been eaten (we assumed she forgot about the soup all together, turns out she just forget until we were full) we said we were not interested in the soup anymore she told us, "Then just take it home or something bc if you don't then I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. YOU AREN"T ALLOWED TO MAKE MISTAKES HERE." It was extremely uncomfortable for everyone at the table. She gave terrible service to begin with and her attitude was even more unbelievable. When she brought the check, she had left the soup on alothough with an alcohlic beverage we never received. We asked her to fix the check and this is when I decided I will not go back as long as they have this kind of service. She yelled at our table of 8 telling us, "You are ridiculous! This is not my problem." She argued with one of the people at the table for a good 2 minutes before I stepped in and said, "I think it's your attitude that's the problem please get us a manager." She replied with, "I don't have an attitude problem you all are the problem. There's no manager her and she would agree with me!" I was literally apalled as I work in a restaurant, and would have been fired on the spot no questions asked if this occured. We made a comment about her adding 18% tip to our bill and she came over out of her way to tell us that was a favor to us as we wouldn't have to pay the full amount. I'm sorry, since when is 20% required, bc if I would have been able to leave a tip according to service, it would have been absolutely nothing. So sad, bc I use to love this place, it's great food, but I would never again pay to be yelled at. Absolutely no excuse for this young lady's attitude. How terrible for such a used to be great restaurant.
