The patio is great, as is the food! Try the blood orange margarita. And Gen is fantastic - he really made happy hour superb! Thanks Gen!

Happy hour is from 4-6. The food prices are great. We had ceviche, steak and pork belly tacos(both great, get the pork), brisket nachos( sounds weird, get it any way), and the poblano chicken mole off of the dinner menu. Tacos $2 each, ceviche $4, nachos $4. Mole $19. Sat on the deck with heaters and it was comfortable. View was great, service professional. Food excellent. I can't wait to go back. For next time the dinner menu has a rib mole that looks interesting.

Great food but disappointed with service. We were told if we wanted it sit outside (it's June, of course we want to sit outside) that we would have to order at the bar and carry our food outside. That wasn't a problem until we got outside and saw 4 tables actually being served. What???

  • Mary M.

Good happy hour; however, disappointing for dinner. Service was lacking - had to flag our waiter down to order our wine then had to flag another waiter down to pay our bill. Our waiter later appeared and said he go tied up in the back. Restaurant was not busy. Food was okay - too spicy for our tastes (and we are from Texas) - does mahi-mahi need to be on top of spicy cole slaw with a chipotle sauce on top? Music was extremely loud and un-appropriate for fine dining and a Mayan restaurant. Excellent dessert - caramel crepes with cinnamon ice cream. Pricey and lacking.

We are very picky, and we love Mexican food. Cocktails were outstanding. Food may very well have been the best Mexican style food we have ever had.

Had dinner at Maya last Saturday night with my husband and two friends, everyone LOVED the Tuna Tartare Guacamole!! Favorite entrees included the Crab & Shrimp Enchiladas and Carne Asada. And don't miss out on the sweet Churros for dessert. Really enjoyed the modern vibe. We will definitely be back soon!

Poor service, mediocre food. They accept too many reservations during peak times, resulting in a long wait regardless of having a reservation.

We went for dinner because we were staying at the Hotel. The portions are extremely small & food is overpriced. The guacamole is made table side & is amazing! We ordered the Bacon guacamole, highly recommend it! If I had gone for happy hour & just ordered the Guacamole I would have left very happy. But we didn't... Everyone in our party ordered a variation of the tacos (which was supposed to be a meal). They should have been called mini tacos. Everyone was still hungry after that 'meal'. The server was great & the atmosphere is pleasant.

Wonderful breakfast service & even better Friday Night fun in the summer! Try the Sangria over the Margarita, very delicious! Great location with great views, super fun & cool atmosphere! Definitely worth a visit!

  • Marnie S.

Great food, great flavors, and if you're a tequila fan, come on in! The portions are not large - I will agree with other reviewers - but the portions are fair and allow you to try a couple of different things. My husband was a fan of the mole.

Thank you Cindy for the menu advice and taking care of us. We realize the kitchen slow down isn't your issue. We had a really good experience!

Gen was our server and he treated our party very well. Tapas were excellent as were the margs. We'll be back often.

Great service and good food. Breakfast buffet could be a little better for the cost, but it is hotel prices.

This bar is the place to be on Friday afternoon. They have possibly the largest stocked bar in the Vail Valley. I'm pretty sure they have every tequila ever made. This is a little more upscale (prices aren't crazy though: beer ~$4, well drinks ~$8), and people do dress a little nicer here than other bars in the area. Collared shirts do seem to be the norm, although certainly not required; many girls wear dresses. FAC (Friday Afternoon Club) usually has a band on the back deck, and some dancing often breaks out as nightfall approaches. The bar is an indoor/outdoor setup. There are multiple outdoor bars so long lines are not a frequent occurrence, but the main bar with the expansive liquor selection is indoors. They do have a dining section as well if you'd like to sit and grab a bite to eat. This bar is on the backside of the Westin in Beaver Creek. It is 21+. The view from the back deck is tough to beat. It overlooks the river and has great views of the Beaver Creek slopes. Definitely a different scene from the numerous "ski bars" that are so frequent in the area, but definitely a welcome change of pace. I strongly recommend checking this place out.

  • Nancy S.

The times are not posted correctly, and the staff is clueless about when the place is open. They try to steer you to the lobby bar, which is way more expensive and not even the same food.

  • Brittany R.

Epic Fail. So disappointed. We are here last trip and it was flawless not sure what happened. Besides chips, guac and queso we waited for our food for just shy of two hours. We had to tell management multiple times of the issue. The restaurant wasn't even full!! They did comp our drinks but dinner was non-existent.

  • Scott J.

Great patio by the river with mountain views for drinks and/or dining. Yummy street style tacos and the carnitas were tasty too. Mexico City style corn on the cob was a nice treat as a side.

    (4)
  • Bruce F.

Delicious!!! Balanced variety of options and flavors. We had ceviche, smoked pulled beef nachos and chicken tamales. I also had a brisket taco and chicken taco. For dessert we shared churros, banana gelato and cayenne cinnamon gelato!!! The only thing that could've made the food better was the fact that we arrived in time for happy hour pricing!!!

  • Erica P.

We stayed at the Westin this weekend, and heard about the happy hour, so while our teenagers hit the slopes, we enjoyed the happy hour. Food was delicious, service was excellent, and drinks were delish! Great spot for happy hour, and we would highly recommend. We huddled and the decided this would be our dinner spot later that evening, so we returned for a full dinner. Again, did not disappoint, everything was great. Must try: Carne Asada Guacamole tableside Calamari Shredded Chicken Enchiladas Highly recommend, solid spot for any age range/occasion.

Another great Richard Sandoval restaurant! We had the guacamole which is hand made at the table and delicious. I had the carne asada tacos which were good but liked my husband's chicken tacos even more. House margaritas were also quite good. Atmosphere was great and it would be beautiful to sit out on the deck in the summer. Tacos were $14 for 3 so can't complain on the price for a resort town and restaurant within a hotel. I definitely recommend!

  • Michael R.

I gave it 5 based on there being not a single complaint. Friendly service, anyone will help not just your server. Food was out in minutes.... Cod tacos... Nothing difficult.. Delicious with a pickle on top.. Killer! The plantains were to die for! Add that rather than rice and beans and you'll be set ! Hell better order two! =) I eat here late so the mountains are there yet unseen, stars wink at me while I dine and the Eagle river sings. It's a breathtaking experience. And Bonus ... Food was ridiculously good. Toss in some chips and salsa (free) and Nirvana found. Great meal Ty!

  • David J.

I was really hoping to like this place more since I live across the street. While the guacamole was OK, the entire experience was underwhelming. I had the pork carnitas which was very dry and sat atop a soggy tortilla with rice packed below. The other dishes at the table were fine, but not any better than you would get at nearby Mexican restaurants for half the price. The atmosphere seemed dull and almost made you tired (which you don't need at the end of a ski day). I liked Avondale better (the restaurant previously in this location) - more lively and creative dishes.

    (2)
  • Justin W.

The kitchen was over an hour behind. Watched 2 large tables just walk away. Poorly managed. The entire town is sold out. Pathetic. We are walking away along with 2 other tables next to us.

  • Heather B.

Creative, upscale Mexican - a new spin on old favorites. There are a few areas that they could be more local, but dishes like Squash Blossom Quesadillas more than make up for it! Good drinks & great atmosphere.

Not knowing this was the sister restaurant to Tamayo (which we love), we went for my 30th B-day dinner and it was 100% the correct choice! Chase, our server, was enjoyable and always attentive which helped to make the dinner that much better. We enjoyed a free round of margaritas and an amazing dessert platter that really made the night special. The food was spectacular...from the bacon guac and queso appetizers to the sides of fried plantains, everything was way beyond our expectations. GO NOW!

  • Maria P.

Went to Maya finally for dinner with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday and it was delicious and the ambiance right on but too pricey for my wallet for a birthday dinner and portion size. We started with traditional and spicy guac which were great to hold us over. And the margaritas delicious. I decided on the carne asada which was to die for. The flavors are well thought out and executed. Considering how savory the meal was, it is no surprise that the portions are small but justifying the price is still tough. The staff was decent not very attentive which at times proved to be a little annoying. I suppose for once and a while its okay money to spend on a delicious meal.

This restaurant was absolutely amazing! From the ambience to the waiter anticipating our every need... And the FOOD!! I am a HUGE fan of Mexican food but this was so far above and beyond anything I've ever had. Fresh guacamole made at your table. The chicken enchiladas were absolutely perfect!

  • J S.

We ate here during happy hour. I can't wait to return for dinner. The nachos were delicious! We also had the crab guacamole which was made table side. Then we finished off our eating frenzy with the fried ice cream and caramel crepes. I can't wait to return! Rebecca was our waitress. Ask for her! She's a wonderful waitress! Great service! Great food! We will be back!

Had two wonderful dinners there!!! Jeff was an amazing waiter, and Cesar the Manager was so helpful! The atmosphere right on the river was amazing and the food was so very unique and a wonderful suprise! The Great Great Great, guacamole table side was amazing!! Well worth whatever effort you have to put out to eat here!!

Excellent margaritas and guacamole that is made table-side. The tuna tartar quacamole is life changing.

If you get a chance, you should go here. It has great presentation, good food, and for the kids a buffet. Also try their auga fresca. - ZGH

Fantastic food! Definitely get the pork carnitas and the chicken tamal. Worth your time while in Beaver Creek! Cesar was awesome- ask for him as your waiter.

Convenience is the only reason I go! Their margaritas are good but expensive for all that ice.

The food was well prepared and presented, and the service was top notch. We sampled several plates; seafood pozole was fantastic, table side guacamole delicious, shrimp tamal outstanding, the carnitas were delicious, and the short rib poblano mole flavor was superb though a bit dry. Desserts were also superior, especially the bread pudding which we had some carmelized bananas on our dessert sampler to eat with. That should be how it's served. Overall a great meal and priced accordingly. Thank you Randy!

We had a 6:00 reservation on a Saturday night. We were one of a half dozen tables when we were seated. The service was very slow for a restaurant of this caliber. We asked for a minute to look over drinks and we're given at least 10 minutes. Our appetizer took at least 15 minutes to come. And dinner another 15 after that. Our plates weren't cleared until I asked for the bill. Our servers passed the table several times but never stopped. In all, it took 1hr 45m for just two people. The food was good. Nothing special though. Not worth the price. We definitely won't be returning and don't recommend.

Fantastic food, excellent drinks, superior service, great atmosphere. We were guests in the Westin, so this was the go-to spot for margaritas at happy hour. We decided to try it for dinner one lazy night and were really surprised. Aside from one nameless seaside restaurant just outside of Cozumel, this was easily the best mexican food I've ever had. I had the Chipotle Camarones (shrimp) that were fantastic. My wife had a mole chicken that she thoroughly enjoyed. We started with a table-side-prepared guac that was surprisingly tasty.

Beautiful location and delicious food - win, win. Location: In the Westin with a beautiful backdrop of the mountains (which were picture perfect on a warm summer night). The location of this place sells itself. Food: Table side guac with salty chips (check), tamale (check) and flavorful veggies covered in salsa (check). My only complaint about this meal is that the sauce the tamal comes covered in taste more like marinara sauce than a Mexican sauce. Otherwise, the food is fantastic. Love that the grilled veggie entree comes with a fried plantain! Service: Our waiter was less than attentive but it didn't bother us too much. The guy who made the guacamole was very chatty and nice though! Loved that he added extra spice to our guacamole.

So good we there twice in a week. Happy hour special is great. Steak tacos. Chicken tamal. Brisket nachos. Margarita are $5. But 1 free with a checkin

I thought the tequila selection was absolutely beautiful, they have all of my favorites and then some! Every time I've been there though, the food leaves so much to be desired. And there isn't a nice way to say that the staff and service is absolutely atrocious. They have little to no knowledge base about what they're serving, ei: I was told by a bartender that she didn't know where the tequila I requested was so she would pour it for me if I could find it... And they're rude and very very slow. It's too bad because they have a gorgeous space and an amazing location and concept.

Awesome happy hour in the Westin BC from 2:30 - 5:00 EVERYDAY. Truly a HAPPY hour. We indulged in a couple regular margs for $5 which are good and then I switched to the red wine for $5 and that was OK. Nothing remarkable. The food choices are awesome. First of all, everything on the HH menu is gluten free. Even the flatbreads (made with masa flour). The brisket nachos are delicious and a great deal. You can get them for $4 or buy in tandem with another snack, making them $3. Score! We had the ceviche and it has a very tangy tomato/lime juice which I really liked. It's a small portion but very good. We also had the steak taco ($2) and the pork belly taco ($2). Both were very tasty (small) but I'd give the edge to the pork belly. There is just something about that pork belly that makes me SWOON. Last up we paired the Chicken Tamal and the Mushroom Flatbread. The tamal was just OK. The masa was way too thick and the tomato sauce was uninspired. The flatbread was fantastic! It is also small (what do you expect for $3?) but you can definitely taste the truffle oil and the crust is outstanding. We'd definitely return to this fine happy hour if we're in Beaver Creek again.

I had an enjoyable dinner at Maya this evening while the sun was setting over the mountains. There are three key attributes of like to highlight: atmosphere, food, and scenery. The atmosphere is lively on the patio which overlooks beaver creek. There is a mixture of high tops for groups, small tables and couch seating for intimate evenings. There is ample heat lamps and fire pits to keep you warm once the sun sets. For those with children and dogs, this place is perfect for a meal that accommodates your needs. For my meal we ordered crab guacamole, pork belly tacos and fried ice cream. For my drink I ordered a classic margarita. Dinner comes with free chips and spicy salsa. The crab quac was great with a very hefty portion of crab served atop. This is coming from a Seattle native with easy access to seafood. The pork belly tacos were served with grilled pineapple offering a sweet and savory dish. The dish came with three tacos which I found enough to satisfy me. The portions are large but our table ordered a desert to share. We ordered the fried ice cream which was phenomenal! I'd never had it before. A great combination of vanilla, crunch, caramel and banana to end the evening on a sweet note. The restaurant has a large patio which overlooks the beaver creek mountainside. You can see the sunset over the mountain as you dine. The location and building block the winds keeping the temperature comfortable. The decor is chic and relaxed at the same time. Ie: Wicker lounges along side fire pits, wooden tables with metal stools, and place settings good for sharing. I'd definitely come back on my next vacation to Beaver creek.

Good food for the most part, if you cant tell from the name and decor- its Mexican inspired. Amazing views. Overpriced. I guess thats really what you are paying for....but FAC on friday night is the place to see and be seen.

Very good food and friendly service. I should probably give it 5 stars, but $13 for guacamole brings them down to 4..

Great happy hour! The food was good but too cold! And yes I agree with some of the reviews below the staff was clueless. Overall a good restaurant if you are too tired to drive to the village..

My wife called to see if they had any availability and they told her they would need a credit card to hold a table. Ten minutes later, we get there and the place is practically empty. Everyone in our group orders their drinks, 15 minutes later we received our drinks except for my father in law and myself for which we just ordered tea. Another 15 minutes goes by and we still don't have our drinks. Out of frustration, I go up to the bartender because my waiter was no where to be seen and ask him for some tea. He said they were brewing a new batch. Ten minutes later, the waiter arrives with a small glass of tea which I finish in three sips. Within 45 minutes from ordering our food, our food arrives and I still haven't received a refill. As far as my food, I order the quesadillas because nothing else looked appealing to me on the menu. For a $15 quesadilla, I was very disappointed in the size and the flavor. If it wasn't for the scenery, you would be better off going to Taco Bell.

We took a family of 6 to this restaurant while staying at the Sheraton in Avon. We did not have a reservation but they got us in after a short wait. I told the waiter I had an allergy to tomatillos and was assured they would not use them. I ordered salmon and it came out covered in tomatillos. It took so long to get our food one of our kids was asleep after waiting an hour. They told me it would take just a little to recook the salmon. My family finished eating and still no meal. I ask for a bowl of soup and when it finally arrived my family was more than finished. No ones dinner was superb, and because we had 4 adults and 2 small kids they charged anauto 20% gratuity. I did not eat anything for fear there were tomatillos in everything. The waiter wore his sunglasses on top of his head the whole evening. Not acceptable in a high end restaurant. The answer is we will never prob try this one again. Too many nice places that are far better than this one in Avon.

Amazing hotels need an amazing restaurant. We really looked forward to dining at Maya just based on reading the menu online. They seem to really tout authentic Mexican flavors and dishes so we go a little excited. Maybe to excited. The restaurant is itself is pretty amazing, cozy, etc... Nothing Mayan though...kinda strange. I guess I'll start with the Guacamole- typical table side preparation. The amount of guac was a little on the small. The flavors were there but it was served in some weird ash tray looking bowl. Hard to dip a chip without tipping the thing over. Drinks were good but spendy. Main course blues- Tacos- 3- 2 bite size tacos. definitely not dinner size, maybe happy hour appetizer size. TAste was good but for 16 bucks...??? Chicken, Mole Poblano- Mole was good but as always a little too sweet. Chicken was a bit mangled, very awkward presentation with rice and beans in separate bowls. The plantains were delicious and went well with the mole. Dessert- churros, or what I'd like to call skinny funnel cakes. the sauces were cold and it just wasn't that great. Service was OK but it's the mountains. Nothing over fancy. High hopes but it just misses on authenticity an price/portions.

Clean cool atmosphere. There happy hour has brisket nachos which are delicious but very small portions. Also durning happy hour they do 2 dollar finger tacos with your choice of steak, chicken or pork belly. They also have something on the happy hour menu which they called the maya dog. It was disgusting, I poorly boiled hot dog wrapped in low grade bacon with iceberg lettuce on top, it was a joke. I seriously hope they consider taking it off the menu. I have ordered many things off the dinner menu such as the lump crab and shrimp enchilada. Pork carnitas. Chicken tamale. All were good but not what I was expecting for the price. Small portions high price some things are good and some just ok. If your here defiantly try the nachos!!!

Let me start off by saying that the food was amazing! We had the guacamole with bacon (delicious), sangria (superb), Carne Asada (fantastic), and the Pork Carnitas (amazing). However this place needs to work out the kinks with it being so new (opened in June). We were sat for dinner on their beautiful patio at 4:45pm and were greeted by a good server (but he was definitely one of the kids that are just making their way through the summer before the snow guns start). (Let me put into perspective how long it took for our meal to complete. We watched the final set up of the wedding, watched the before pictures, watched the full ceremony and watched the guests get their cocktails and appetizers before we left. We did not leave until 6:45pm. Two hours later, no meal should take that long unless I am at the chophouse in Beaver Creek eating a $300 meal.) We ordered our drinks and guac and those came fast, but it went downhill from there. We saw our server became double sat with two very large patios within minutes of each other, and after that we were long forgotten about. Our food came out on hot plates but was cold and we waited forever to get a refill on our waters. We wanted dessert and long after our table was cleared of pretty much everything our kid server came back to see if we needed anything else, handed us the dessert menu, and then disappeared again. When he came back we ordered the fried ice cream (good, but small) and some coffee, coffees never came. We got our check and waited for him to pick it up for another 5 minutes and when he did he proceeded to walk around with our credit card in his pocket and clear the other two tables (the 2 big tops he was double sat with, who were served and completed before we were) without even running our card. That is when we got upset and found the manager. Not only did she apologize profusely she comped the two entrees off our ticket, however we wanted to pay with our credit card and a gift certificate because we wanted to be able to tip and now we had to pull cash, even though he gave us lousy service (which he admitted to when we handed him his tip) he is a tipped employee who should get something. I would go back for the food, but not the service.

Initially came here with the family over Labor Day weekend. We all had the AYCE & Drink Saturday Brunch. What a great deal. Food was fresh and original and we all left with plenty of food and drink in our bellies. Needless to say, I think we got our money worth. :) This past weekend we hit up Happy Hour both Saturday and Sunday and had the same great service and same great food. I would recommend the Brisket Nachos and the Maya Dog.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
