This place made me a fan of sushi...so much so that I could probably eat here every day! Consistently delicious, fresh, and presented beautifully. Also, really friendly staff!

I've been back to Hana Sushi on a number of occasions since i wrote the first review in 2008. I have NEVER been disappointed! Last night was no exception. A welcoming rest from Holiday preparations. The food, service and ambiance of this little restaurant continue to be excellent. P.S. The little desserts are a most welcome surprise from the press stamped fortune cookies that other restaurants serve.

Can't beat their happy hour prices. Service was good and the fish was fresh, all in a relaxing atmosphere!

No complaints here. My husband and I have been in twice over the past few months. I'm not a huge sushi fan, so I can't comment much on that. Good service, food and nice portions.

Good stuff. Ordered monkey brains and they tasted good. No, not real brains, two hemisphere of spicy tuna and clam, avocado and rice fried with a panko crust. It's about the size of a monkey head but I didn't bring a monkey to compare. Two touches that would improve things..., I wish they had hot towels and I miss the orange they use to deliver with the bill.

This place was average food-wise. The staff was very polite and attentive, they took our order fairly quickly, and our food was brought to us promptly. However, the food itself wasn't amazing or delicious per say. It was "eh." The sushi was bland, not tasty at all. The sushi rolls themselves and the nigiri were tiny compared to other sushi places I've been so because of that, I thought the prices were a bit steep. I'm from the Springs, and there's a sushi place there called Kohnami...now that is the best sushi restaurant I've been to thus far, EVER. Their rolls aren't tiny nor is the nigiri a sliver of fish with a bit a rice attached like at Hana Sushi. Kohnami's sushi is truly tasty, flavorful, and delicious, hands down. Needless to say, I miss that place and I've had a hard time finding a great sushi restaurant since moving to Aurora and driving the 30 min to Denver to get some good sushi is a bit discouraging. Now that being said, I would continue to go to Hana Sushi if I'm in dire need of a sushi fix and because it's close to my house, otherwise, I'll probably have to settle exploring my options elsewhere.

Love this Place! Great for people who love good sushi and aren't wanting to make the trek across town to someplace downtown or to Denver. Good prices and good selection. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I go there quite often with my husband and son and there's really not anything on the menu that's "kid friendly". Meaning it's all adult portions at adult prices. But other then that it's got great atmosphere and friendly staff, even when my kid made a mess of our table!

Hana Sushi, with 10 frens and I, we came and pay you a visit for our October month Sushi Feast. Though some of my frens were "lost" in order to find you, nevertheless all came in ONE piece... So if you intend to drive here and not familiar with the area, please do have your GPS or directions ready in hand. Everyone enjoyed their Sushi dinner on Thursday evening October 09th 2008. Since I feel like some Miso soup for that evening, I tried their MISO Soup with Clams. Oishii!! Next came my main entree that consists the following: Unagi, Tobiko Flying Fish Eggs, Kaibashira Scallop which I only pay this $1 a piece coz I ordered them before 7pm ~ entitled for HAPPY HOUR. The rest were Ama Ebi, FUJI Roll, Spicy Shrimp Roll, Spicy Scallop Roll, Spicy Shrimp Handroll and Spicy Scallop Hand Roll. I was slightly disappointed with their Ama Ebi coz it seems not too fresh for me. I shared one piece or two with my fren who ordered their Spicy Mushroom. This I HIGHLY RECOMMEND their Spicy Mushroom Roll!!! Since both of us do not fancy, salmon in the Spicy Mushroom Roll, we requested for Shrimp instead. Double Oishii!!! Be warned though, when they served the Spicy Mushroom, make sure you wait for abit before eating them coz, it can be pipping HOT and can burn the top tip of your mouth. Just be cautious okies... They have other menu in this Restaurant, perhaps I would return to bring hubby to try them. Service was prompt, accomodating and fast. Though I cant deny not everyone get their food at the same time. There is room for improvement if they would want large groups to dine here. Come for their Happy Hour for $1 per piece Dine Only sushi during Lunch and 4pm to 7pm everyday. Another added bonus for me. I ended my evening with Mochi Ice Cream of Strawberry, Mango and Vanilla flavors. Triple Oishii!!! Please Take Note: (Hana Sushi is closed from 2:30pm to 4pm on Monday thru Friday) If possible do call in advance.

Try the Hana roll. I grew up near the ocean and don't prefer eating fish in a land lock region but I will eat the sushi here.

Recently moved to the area and saw this as the only Sushi place nearby. Went in to place a take out order. Staff ignored us when we first entered. We saw menus and decided to sit near the door to review. One of the waiters acknowledged us and then was rude when he realized we were going to make it a take out order. He threw 2 paper menus at us and told us to look over these instead of the regular menu. We had questions about some of the items on the paper menu and the staff member was very condescending to us. We ended up ordering a mix of appetizers and sushi. Food was descent, but because of how rude the staff were, I would not return or recommend.

It's my favorite place! I've sat at the sushi bar, a table and I've picked up sushi, without fail, it's always the best. The fish is always as fresh as possible in Colorado! The chef is funny and friendly. There's rarely a wait.... this place is hidden between some odd places, but go out of your way to find it. I think you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised! Suggestions: Seaweed salad Eel roll Spicy tuna roll Rainbow roll Green tea Yum!!

Don't do it. Sushi is just ok. The service is the main problem with this restaurant. My daughter ordered a ny steak (I know it's a sushi place). And couldn't eat over 80% of it...due to it was all grizzle/fat. The evidence was nicely placed back on to the plate. Then the waitress/owner refused to take it off the bill. Her response, "well, sometimes you get a bad steak". Ok, thanks I won't ever be back. What's crazy...I was a twice a month customer for 2 years.

We stop here whenever we're in the area. As others have noted the interior is delightful - the large aquariums make for a unique dining experience. The sushi is always top notch (for Denver).

5 stars for happy hour, 5 stars for the price, 4 stars overall for the sushi. Very friendly service; the owner is behind the bar when the place gets busy, but still takes time to chat. The happy hour quality is surprisingly good; they don't switch the out to inferior sushi for HH, so its very well worth $1/piece. They didn't have anything too crazy for nigiri, but hey, it is in a strip mall after all. I tried just about everything they had for nigiri and I didn't have anything that stood out as off. Even their saba was tasty, and it's generally one that's the first to taste foul when it's not fresh. They were out of Uni; that's the ultimate test for me...it's only available on weekends. It's well worth checking out; I wouldn't place it in my top sushi joints of all time, but I would put it in the top 2 for quality vs price.

I was craving sushi for dinner but was too lazy to go to far or dine in so I looked up places near by that had either delivery or takeout. Hana does not have delivery but since this place is only about 5 minutes from my house I figured I would give it a try for take out. I ordered the Tetakki Salad and the Tokyo roll. The Tetakki was not good and I won't be ordering it ever again. They mixed a vinegar based sauce with a mayo based sauce and you could imagine the image...not good. However the Tokyo roll was pretty tasty and I think if I went back I would certainly order it again along with some other sushi options. Overall it was just OK. I have had much better sushi and just can't bring myself to give 4 stars for anything that is just ok. So there you go. Take it or leave it.

Disappointing happy hour and long wait service. We came as a group of five with three of us arriving first around 6pm so we quickly submitted our happy hour order. By the time our last friend showed up around 6:30 our order had still not arrived. It looked to be an average day with less than half of one side of the restaurant filled so it failed to explain the excessive wait time. When the sushi arrived it was good but not in the mouth melting yum way. We managed to quickly get two more orders in before happy hour ended at 7pm and still nothing really stood out for me. Last but not least our bill averaged $36 per person! With a few beers and some forgettable rolls that may have increased the bill, it still was not the happy hour deal I was expecting.

My family and I love sushi and order it at least once a week. We ordered take out from Hana Sushi tonight and were appalled at how rude one staff member was. She said her name was "Andy" although she also claimed to be the owner. My fiance wanted to pay over the phone so that I would not have to pay upon pick up. He gave her the card number and she proceeded to tell him the card was not working and said"you have to pay your bill or the card doesn't work"! He checked his account and had more than enough money. The staff member would not read the number back to him and when he offered to come in and pay she told him she would not make our food because he had no money. When I asked to speak to the manager she said he was not in. Then I asked for her name and she proceeded to tell me that now she was the owner and hung up on me. If you want to be treated like garbage this is the place to go. We will never go back to this place again.

cheap sushi close to home.. how bad (or good!) could it be? it's a small place in a little strip mall off the side of a major street... hmm... why not. stopped in for a to-go order of sushi -- hostess was very nice and offered me some water while i waited. picked up a few rolls for myself and took them home. i'm pretty picky when it comes to what's "good" in terms of sushi -- not that i'm picky about what i'll eat (i'll pretty much eat everything when it comes to sushi!) but more that if you tell me a certain sushi joint is "the best" it better damn well blow my socks off. however, i was pleasantly surprised at this little place. i wouldn't say it was the best, but it was good. especially for a small little hole in the wall so close to home. i would go back again, preferably for happy hour dine in, to try more stuff. this place is A-OK.

We eat at Hana reguarly. I have eaten sushi at nearly every sushi restaurant of note in the Denver metro area, and in my opinion you're not going to find better sushi in Aurora. On any given night you'll find KC and Nemo behind the sushi bar cranking out sashimi, nigiri, and rolls with speed, accuracy, not to mention an eye for detail, presentation, and most importantly -- flavor! Bob and Angie, the (Korean) owners, are very friendly and hospitable. They will take the time to get to know you and generally will bend over backwards to take care of you. What else can I tell you? Most of the fish is US-sourced and is very fresh and tasty. The happy hour prices are fantastic. The only time that service slows down is typically during the latter part of happy hour (6-7) when the place gets packed, especially on weekends. I think those who complain simply aren't used to a local restaurant being this popular. My advice is: come early and hungry! There are a few sushi places in Denver that are better than Hana, and I've been to them, but like another reviewer noted, we simply can't break away from Hana long enough go back to them. Love it!

I have gone to Hana since it was first open. First, it is very close to where I live. All the other sushi restaurants in my neighborhood are not like how Hana Sushi is, original. I know the owner, Bob, he is very nice and friendly person. I can't remember his wife's name, and she's nice too. I also like how all there sushi chefs get to know you. It's like Cheers, but with sushi. I love there portions. I usually get there chirashi and the portion compared to any other place is bigger. They load it with everything they can. I love there happy hour, $1 per piece, cannot beat that.

This was my husband's 4th time having sushi. We had just watched a movie and were on the drive home. A coworker of his had recommended Hana... we called him for the details of where it is. Cute little sushi place near the Safeway on Buckley and Quincy. It's actually rather intimate once you get inside. Tables are somewhat close together. We didn't want to spend a fortune (which is easy to do at a sushi place). We each ordered 2 rolls. I tried the Hana Roll and Chicken Tempura. The hana roll had cooked salmon, mayo, tempura crunchies, and green onions. Very tasty! I think I liked it more than tempura rolls. I usually get shrimp tempura, but decided on the chicken here. The tempura rolls are bigger - so harder to eat in one bite. Still very good. The chicken tasted a little dry - but other than that, everything was great. My husband ordered the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls. He has a shellfish intolerance, so unfortunately he can't eat shrimp or crab (two of my favorites). It's nice to know there is a decent sushi place close to our house. If I'm ever in the sushi mood, I'll go back.

I stop here on every trip I make to Denver! The staff is really nice and the food is great..There are two sides to the restaurant.. the Sushi bar side and the dining room. I've always sat on the sushi bar side. my favorites are: baked mussles soft shell crab goyza's fried oysters and we have had just about every roll they make. They created this special valentines roll that is really good so if you get a chance, stop by and try it.

I found Hana a few years back. A great place to eat. It feels like you are visiting a friends house. Very friendly staff. Bob, K.C., Angie and their staff make you feel welcome. When I walk in I feel like Norm from Cheers, I always get a warm and friendly "Coach" from the gang. They make very good traditional sushi and are always coming up with new rolls. Happy hour is a fantastic deal. $1 per piece, high quality sushi and very reasonably priced roils. Their Miso soup is always very good. As several others have said, sushi is my favorite "feel good" food and this is my favorite "feel good" place! If I'm having a bad day, here's where I head. Highly recommend!

Wow, I can't believe this place has such great reviews. I came here once and I definitely won't come again. We came during dinner, not during happy hour time. Most of our food was pretty alright, except for one of our rolls, which just threw everything off. My husband got a combination of rolls, and the fish in his yellowtail roll was definitely spoiled. It did not look right, the color was very dark and the fish looked partially cooked (probably because it was so old and spoiled). It also smelled horrible! The place was pretty full and we did not want to make a huge scene, so we wrapped it up in paper and asked them to take it away. I just could not believe they would serve something like that. Imagine a newcomer didn't know that it was spoiled, ate it, and got sick! Maybe we just went there on an "off day", but we are definitely not going back. For quality sushi in Aurora, try Sushi Katsu on Havana Street. Mount Fuji in Southlands is a bit costlier, but it is good too. And Sushi Den is my all time favorite, a bit more costly, but it is like sushi heaven!

Our favorite neighborhood Sushi. We love to come in, sit at the Sushi bar, chat with the chefs, and they're so good natured about my inability to remember which rolls we've tried before and which ones are our favorites. Of course we love all the fresh fish and especially the sushi happy hour EVERY night of the week. Thanks Hana Sushi!!

I spent time in Japan and lived in the northwest for years, where we have some of the best sushi place available, and Hana is for sure up there on my list of fav sushi places. Order anything and enjoy!!!

This was the first sushi resteraunt I've tried in the Denver metro, and so far it's still the best. This place is located on the NW corner of Buckley and Quincy, along the Quincy side of the lot. It can be easy to miss if your coming off of Buckley. The atmosphere here is excellent. The dining area is calm and fancy, but still casual. There's always someone to offer a warm greeting as soon as you step in the door. The service is attentive and friendly, and the guys behind the sushi bar seem constantly up beat. The sushi here is wonderful, but being a Japanese Cuisine Resteraunt, the menu is extensive. So far everything I've tried has been fantastic. The presentation alone beats out most other places I've tried in town. Happy Hour consists of one dollar sushi making it a nice spot to stop for a quick, after work meal.

Like Annie B, sushi is my very favorite "feel good" food, and it certainly can be an expensive habit. I do tend to get a little snobbish about my sushi here in Denver, simply because I got rather spoiled from spending a semester in Japan a couple years ago. Hana Sushi is one of the only places I will go for Sushi in Denver. Their Hana roll is amazing, and I LOVE their masago rolls (flying fish egg) with a quail egg on top. Yum!! :D Unagi rolls are something I tend to approach with caution, because while they are absolutely delicious when prepared with quality eel, most sushi joints' unagi rolls are chewy at best, and stringy and tough most of the time. Hana is an exception - I always make sure to have at least an order of unagi rolls when we are there! I'd also recommend their rainbow rolls, as they are fantastic as well. The staff is always fantastic as well. The servers are always there when you need them, and are consistently friendly, and great with kids. When my niece and I decided to try out Hana Sushi, our waitress offered to make "kid chopsticks," basically, she took a couple chopsticks, rolled the packaging into a ball, and rubber-banded in between the chopsticks, which helped Katie learn to eat with chopsticks. The bar guys are the same way - always upbeat and they enjoy chatting and getting to know their patrons. I think the only thing preventing Hana from getting five stars is the whole cold, urban look. It's just not something you'd expect in South-East Aurora, which is, let's face it, right on the edge of suburbia. The decor would look better in downtown, maybe, where the metallic, edgy look is common, but again, in SE Aurora, it might be better to go with a warmer look. Aside from that one little detail, Hana gets almost perfect 10's down the list. I even like their tempura rolls, and I have never been a fan of tempura.

Everything was quite tasty! 2 for 1 sake all the time Mon-Thurs. We got a plethera of rolls and an apetizer call monkey brains which consisted of an avocado cut in half stuffed with crab and cream cheese then fried. Pretty tasty but so unneccesary. We ended up taking 1/2 the rolls home because we filled up on the appetizer :(. The service was really swell, though it took a little longer than you might think to get the sushi out but there was only one chef crankin everything out but he did so with painstaking detail so it was worth the wait. Seemed signifigantly more expensive than other places I've been frequenting lately (sushi train, mt fuji) but the quality was really good so I can't compain. And for the record this place is on the NE corner.

We love this sushi! The food is consistently great and the service is always friendly. The firecracker roll is a must try! Would recommend this place to anyone.

This little sushi place was pretty good. The rice wasn't the best and I love great sushi rice. The fish, however, was really fresh and it made up for the rice. They also had a great happy hour special where the sashimi was only a dollar a piece! I had the yellowtail sashimi and it was really good. I also tried a few spicy rolls and they were spicy. The atmosphere was nice and the service was good. I would come back here again to take advantage of the happy hour sashimi.

I'd just like to add that I've eaten here multiple times since my last 5-star review, and the sushi has been consistently my favorite in the Denver/Aurora area. If you're feeling adventurous, I recommend the Fuji roll. Delicious!!!

Went with a friend the other night and would def go back again. Good food and good happy hour specials. Only thing was when we were done eating we ordered a few more but they wouldn't give us the happy hour price cause it was after seven although we got there at 630 thought that was pretty cheesy!

I cannot hype...YELP...this place up enough! DH and I can't even break away from this place long enough to try other sushi places. We went to Sonoma's once....but it was just too expensive for what we got. Hana is IT! Please ask for the FIRECRACKER! Its not on the menu. Ask fot it. FIRST. The service is usually great....yikes...unless you get the older lady...but she hasn't been there the last few times we went. I'm sure she means well, but she forgets....u. Great landlocked sushi! My mom actually has come to like sashimi b/c of Hana!!!!!

Good fresh sushi, with nice portion sizes. The staff is friendly and the service was great! Besides the sushi being good, Hana Sushi hasn't forgotten that Japanese food should be served and plated beautifully, not just plated with a plastic leaf stuck between pieces.

Nice place to get sushi, quiet and the sushi menu is not lacking. luch and dinner specials also hit the spot. don't get them mad though cause they will ban you for a week. " Next Friday you come and no sushi for you!"

Best sushi I've had in a long time, and I am very particular about my sushi! This is the only sushi bar I visit now.

I recently went to Hana sushi after not going for a couple months. It used to be the restaurant my husband and I went to every Friday night. Anyway- there is a new sushi chef and we noticed that they were very skimpy on the fish and the rolls were much smaller. Bummer since that used to be our favorite sushi restaurant. Their portions used to be comparable to Sushi Den or Sushi Sasa and the fish was almost just as good. Now their sushi has very thin slices of fish that are also smaller in size.
(2)
Molly A.
I have been to Hana's several times now both to dine in and carry out. What kept me coming back (aside from my fiance being on the hugest sushi kick) was the mellow atmosphere and the friendly service. The sushi is also amazing. I attribute my love for sushi in large part to Hana's. I have also had a couple of the teriyaki dishes, and those have also been quite good, the salmon in particular.

I just moved into the neighborhood and I'm delighted to have such a great sushi place so close to me. We ordered the big platter of sashimi, sushi, and nigeri. Every piece was fresh and well presented. The staff was friendly. This is a very good sushi experience!. Hanna Sushi was very clean and had a very modern look. I'm looking forward to a second visit and trying some of their specialty rolls.

I really need to be wow'd to give 5 stars but Hana is excellent. Very close to the 5 star level. The sushi is consistently good and it is a great location. Some of the fancier rolls are around $10 each, but they are good. Happy hour $1 sushi is good as well. The only drawback I can note is that when dining in the restaurant has a very cold design. Very modern with light colors and a lot of silver. The tables are all glass which takes a little getting used to.
(4)
Robert H.
I can't believe all the 4- and 5- star reviews on here! The sushi was not bad, but the portions were quite small compared to other sushi places I've been to. There was nothing bad, but nothing to recommend, either. Service was good. If you want sushi, go to Sonoda's instead. This may be somewhat cheaper, but you get what you pay for.
(3)

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum. Seated promptly, friendly service, and they have Ramune!! Get one, next time. Japanese sodas are not to be missed. Ordered shrimp tempura rolls, the Hana roll, Tokyo roll, and spicy tuna. All extremely delicious. The Hana roll was by far my favorite. All tasted very fresh, too. Drinks were refilled consistently, and I have zero complaints. Can't wait to be back and try that Firecracker app!

I have driven past this place many times but never trusted it would be good due to its location. My usual go to sushi restaurant was closed for remodeling, so I thought "what the heck." I finally stopped in and I should have trusted my gut feeling. First off, I am a sushi snob. I love the stuff and eat it often. Here my nigiri was anemic. The portion size was laughable, and the rice was dry/old. The spicy tuna roll was acceptable, but not spicy. The miso soup was average at best, and the curry bowl was boring and uninspired. All that being said, the food was average to below average. The service was prompt, and the waitress was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, great service does not make up for the food.

Sushi nazi! We patronized this business for years. Loved it. Then one time we ordered more than we could eat, both of a special roll along with a couple of pieces of the happy hour sushi. When we asked for a box we were told that we couldn't take the leftover pieces of "happy hour" sushi. If I remember correctly we had 2 pieces left worth $2.00. REALLY?!. Hello, common sense and courtesy anyone? We will NEVER return again. I recommend Saigon Tokyo off Buckley and Alameda. Great customer service, which is priceless.

Everything I've tried here is just delicious! I also love the eclectic decor. It's a hidden gem which is great because it means not much wait time. Staff is very friendly! YUM!

Most expensive, over priced sushi I have ever ordered!!!! They charge $50 for a pick up, no itemized receipt and the whole order fitted into 2 boxes?! These guys are an absolute con!!! At least four better sushi restaurants in the area that make this lot look awful, try those... UPDATE - Just tried each role to see if I could update this bad review and honestly wanted to have my tail firmly between my legs in embarrassment, however as I thought... Really poor, no taste sushi! I really wouldn't recommend this place to anyone wanting to eat good food

It is a rare find: a cozy, family-owned and operated restaurant in the Southern Aurora area. Hana Sushi has a standard Japanese menu, but the food is fresh, reasonably priced and well presented.

Now that I live in the Aurora area, I am excited to explore new restaurants that I have never been to or heard of. Sushi Hana is one of them. I was looking on Google to find a sushi place in the area and came across this one. They are open late and offer $1 nigri. I am in! We walked in and the place was dead. Not a soul in site except the two employees there. Many people complain about the decor being too Ikea ish, but I feel like it looks inviting and comfortable. We were seated and saw the sign stating 2 for 1 sake on Monday through Thursday. Perfect! We ordered a couple of rolls, and a ton of nigri of yellowtail and salmon. Service was super fast. I know they didn't have anyone else to serve, but still felt like they were faster than normal. The sushi was good, maybe not the best, but still pretty fresh. We will definitely be back to try more rolls!

Rude service. The sushi is sub- par And the owner makes no excuses for being rude when asked about the bad service. I will never go back.

Meh, I thought I was going to be really impressed by this place but it left me with a stale taste in my mouth. They have a great sushi selection and $1 nigiri during happy hour and when we went it seemed to be a two person team running the show. The decor is stale and uncomfortable, like Thavry said, very IKEA-esque.....and thats not a compliment. It wasn't like gas station sushi but it wasn't anything I would recommend and and just wasn't as mind blowing as the reviews had me believe. The sushi didn't have a lot of taste and the fish tasted rubber-y at best. We ordered a couple of rolls and multiple pieces of nigiri but for price to value, I would definitely go elsewhere or pick up a ton at King Soopers since that's about the level it was on.

Joelle P.
I went for my first time today, and will definitely be back! The location is perfect, close to my house. The prices don't seem bad for lunch either. For dinner I ordered edamame, two specialty rolls-- two dragons & spicy shrimp, and a tall Sapporo, for $28. The rolls were wonderful, but I was disappointed in the edamame as I'm pretty sure I could see what was freezer burn on them. The staff was very nice and gracious, and the two handled their nice monday night rush with grace and smiles!

Amy W.
Really wish this place had better sushi. Its so close to my house but it tasted like pre-made sushi. The ambiance was okay and the service was nice but everything we ordered fell short.
(2)
Alex L.
Good but not great sushi. The Ikea like furniture hurts my eyes and is definitely not welcoming. You walk through the entrance to another section of the restaurant that looks like used to be an older section. That's when you get greeted. Service was ok at best. Miso soup was bland and the salad was alright. Only liked one roll that came to our table so we ordered it twice. The nigiri was made with a huge cut of fish and a dab of rice. This place is ok like I said but the ambiance doesn't say "please come back and enjoy the food." Instead it says "You want to sit in uncomfortable metal/wood chairs and chic see-thru tables?" Someone needs to bring the feng shui bat and swing it around a couple times.

Ambience... Ehhh... Not comfortable at all.. IKEA decor. Food....how should I put it..old hard sushi rice, It's was so hard to chew, slimy fish. The yakisoba was beyond terrible... It had to much tonkatsu sauce it was sour, the noodles tasted like overlooked instant ramen noodles... Omg horrible.... Finally we got dessert we got mochi and green tea cheesecake, first of all the mochi was definitely melted then frozen again it had that freezer burned taste and texture...the cheesecake tasted like the fridge. I really had high hopes for this place.....:(

Excellent food. The firecracker appetizer is a must have. Friendly staff, fantastic food!

Great food, reasonably priced. Firecracker appetizer was tasty, but be careful! It was definitely a spicy jalapeño in there! Fish was fresh, nice atmosphere - very low key. We will definitely be back!

Hana offers happy hour prices all day- just $1 per piece! You can't beat that price. And here's the real kicker- it's very good sushi!! They have unique rolls, fresh everything and consistently good service. My son absolutely loves the green tea cheesecake. It's a must visit if you are in southeast aurora!

I went to Hana Sushi with 2 others for sushi. We were greeted and sat at at table right away. We placed our order and waited about 40 to 45 minutes for the sushi to arrive. There were 2 people behind the counter making sushi and there were 3 tables - including us - in the whole restaurant so I am not sure why it took such a long time for the order to be made. The sushi was not outstanding. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, a spicy salmon roll, and an Alaska roll and was rather disappointed that there was no difference in the flavor of any of the rolls. They all tasted the same - bland. I would not recommend Hana Sushi and will not go back there.

We moved in around the corner about a year ago and have been eating there since. Quality of fish is good and quite consistent. Wait staff is very friendly and prompt. Happy hour is an excellent to time to go with their $1 Nigiri and 2 for 1 Saki. Prices are right in line with the other top sushi places in re area. This is a great place if you want good quality sushi that's close by. Definitely one of the top to choose from in the area.

Love the firecracker at this place- very fast service. A little pricy but food is good and people are nice.

One of my favorite sushi places. My dad and I have been going here for years and there's never been a disappointment in food and service is exceptional. I appreciate all the owners have done to make us feel extra taken care of!

Not sure why the ratings for this restaurant is 4/5 but I personally think it should be 1/5. I am a huge sushi fanatic and have tried many sushi restaurants. The sushi rolls were not fresh and the rice was hard. I ordered the Dragon Roll ($9.95) and the avocado on the outside of the roll was brown and old looking. I also ordered the Manhattan ($10.95), Alaska Roll ($5.25), and Spicy Shrimp ($5.25) and all tasted really bad. The rice on these rolls were hard and fish are very thin. These sushi are worst than the buffet sushi!!! Pros: They give you Andes mint chocolate Cons: Pricey, Not fresh, small pieces, not many choices to choose from, bad service.

I am very surprised at all the positive reviews on Hana Sushi. Ordered a few appetizers and 4 rolls tonight and I was extremely disappointed with everything. The gyoza was not typical and actually came steamed like dumplings. Tasted okay but not what I was going for. Don't even order the spring roll/egg roll thing. For $3.00, there only came two small pieces cut in half. The seaweed salad was mushy and didn't taste fresh. The biggest disappointment were the Manhattan and Twin Dragon rolls. For $11 a piece, you would think they would be substantial but they were actually the same size as the California roll and the artificial crab is the worst I have ever tasted. Honestly, King Soopers sushi has more flavor, better quality ingredients and a better value for size. The calamari tempura roll was the highlight of the meal but even the pieces of tempura were small and insignificant in the roll. I wasn't expecting too much but could not get over the price of each roll vs quality and size. Their are other better sushi options in the area. Would not recommend.

Not much to look at inside. Very small rolls for the price. Two of us dropped $90+ and I left hungry. Nice staff.

My second review here, much better this time round. Rice was on point, fish was very fresh and delicious. The train wreck roll was awesome! Great service excellent local sushi, we will be coming back glad to have a great local sushi joint!

This place is decent. My friend and I enjoyed our sushi and seaweed salad. This is definitely not my go to spot for a sushi fix but overall our experience here was good. If you are looking for really tasty creative rolls you may want to look elsewhere. I did love their spicy mushroom roll. The service here was courteous and attentive.

Two stars because the food was okay. Service was horrible. If I came here again it would be for take out only.

Don't let the strip mall ambiance full you, this place is great!! Hands down, the best roll by far is the fire cracker. I could easily be satisfied with just this but then you get into other rolls like the Philly or Tiger roll and wonder why didn't I check this place out sooner! I finally have a place close to the house that doesn't have weird hours! And it's a bonus that this place offers a lot of room so you don't feel like you are in the next tables conversation. And 2 for 1 hot sake during the week for Happy Hour. Not only is the service great, the staff goes out of their way to make sure your service is suburb!

Before 7 pm, most nigiri (that's when the raw fish is on the little piece of rice) is only $1. Say whattttt?!!!!! That's right only $1! It's not the highest quality, but it is pretty damn good IMO. Well worth the $1. Rarely do I ever go to a sushi place and mark 10 pieces of salmon nigiri and NOT feel guilty about it. (When I say guilty, that's in reference to the damage I do to my bank account, not my body.) The service was quick and attentive. What more could you ask for? In conclusion, if anyone came to Denver and said, "hey girl, I'm craving some sushi, but I only have $5." I would say, "Try Hana Sushi before 7pm." Then I would say, "Also, when you google map it, you may think that the place has disappeared once in the area, but it is really tucked in a corner by Safeway, two doors down from the Thai place." I got a little lost, so I think that would be important to add in.

Had to stop by this place before heading back home. Who says a landlocked state cannot offer fresh great sushi?! Got the Philadelphia and dragon rolls. Of course had to get the spicy mushroom roll & firecracker appetizer again :). This place is on par with some of the great mom-pop sushi joints back in FL. Consistently great service, will miss this place. Don't take this place for granted :).

Been going to this place off and on since it opened many years ago. When it first opened it was consistently good. I'd even make special trips during my lunch hour to go there. When we had out of town coworkers come in and we'd go to lunch, this was one of the places on our radar. But lately, the past several years, it seems the quality has diminished. Sushi isn't always the freshest anymore. And by that I don't mean that its bad or going bad, but it seems like the raw fish can be "flavorless" and getting old. I've ordered Maguro there and the fish has an odd texture and color (on multiple occasions). Again, not that its going bad, but its no longer "fresh" and its obvious. Nigiri portions have shrunk over the years as well. And while they do have a Happy Hour Sushi menu, those items are smaller than you'd expect, more like you'd find at one of the "All You Can Eat" sushi bars. I've also ordered cooked items off the menu. Again, hit and miss. No consistency. Sometimes its really good and has me coming back and other times it lacks flavor and is overloaded with vegetables. As an example I really like Beef Teriyaki. The beef is small, smothered in Teriyaki sauce and loaded with "filler" vegetables. The service is good and the people are friendly. Decor is nice and pretty cool for a strip mall in S/E Aurora... But while those are nice its the food that counts... and thats where this place seems to miss the mark lately. So, why do I continue to go there after all these years? Well, its the closest or was the closest sushi bar to my house and I kept hoping I hit it on a good day...

Its no secret I'm a sushi snob. That being said, this spot surprised me. I scoffed at the idea of eating sushi in a little suburb of Denver, how could they offer up anything even remotely close to what I get in Cali or Hawaii. What I got was a sushi bar that provided good cuts of fish, with some decent roll options for those you are into the cali sushi style. Usually, places that serve cali style sushi don't put much into the quality of their fish, as it will be soaked in eel sauce, or avocado, or crunchies for that matter. But having ordered a few hand rolls, and nigiri, I realized I had a gem on my hands. While not in the same ball park as the places I normally frequent, the pricing was right here, and the waitress was kind and funny. Don't know if I will ever be out here again, but if I were to be out here and wanted a decent sushi fix, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.

Read a bunch of these Yelp reviews before giving this place a try. Skeptical as it's in a strip mall in Aurora & the reviews said the place was always empty. I figured I'd give it a try because of the great reviews. There was nobody in the restaurant besides the staff when we walked in. Upon looking at the menu, I was surprised that the most expensive bottle of wine was ONLY $27... I figured there would be a much better selection of wines, needless to say, I was disappointed. We ordered the Dragon Roll & the Spicy Tuna (usually, a safe bet). The Dragon Roll was good, but I could swear that the Spicy Tuna was out of a can. The texture was awful and didn't taste like ANY other Spicy Tuna roll that I've ever had. I won't return to this place in the future, there are many sushi restaurants of higher quality that I would prefer to spend my money at.

Very good happy hour! Sushi is some of the best downtown, and the drinks are very good (try one of the signature drinks... they are yummy!)

After having Sushi on the West Coast, nothing compared. This place comes close! They don't have the same fresh fish that they do on the coast though. They are not too pricey, we usually spend anywhere from $10-$25 a person depending on what we get, which isn't too bad for good sushi! The staff is always really kind and quick. I am a huge fan of their Philadelphia Roll. YUM! Also, they always have specials that are so delicious! Try them out, you wont regret it!

Stopped by for sushi on the way home from DIA on a business trip. It was say 7:30 pm and there were the right amount of people there - ie not tko crowded. The sushi price was reasonable. I ordered the sashimi and liked it - flavorful and fresh. Wednesdays they have buy one get on free sake (sucks if you have to drive and get do that). Because I had mostly sashimi, miso soup and I think 1 spicy scallop roll I didn't get to try a wide variety of sushi. Hats of to them for doing it pretty well. For the money and if it's not to far to go I think I'd rather hit Sushi Katsu because you can get more sushi for the $$. However, that said this place is still great. Quick sushi without the wait and very friendly service is great by my book! I'll be back.

This is my favorite Sushi restaurant. If you don't see your favorite on the menu just tell them whats in it and they will make it for you. The prices are good and the sushi is far better than the expensive places I have been. They have a good happy hour and good service as well.

I came here for a quick lunch the other day. First time here. I didn't realize they had a happy hour every day, with $1 nigiri. Had several of those an a couple maki rolls and some miso soup. The octopus nigiri was good. The tuna wasn't the freshest I've seen (I came here on Labor Day). The miso soup was good/average. The maki rolls were small. On some parts of the roll outside the seaweed, there appeared to be only one layer of rice (one grain thick). The rolls were very small. Now, I'm not one to like huge sushi rolls but they seemed to be cutting corners on the rice. The ingredients seemed OK. I would return but wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

This little sushi place is right next to the Thai restaurant tucked away in a little strip mall in East Aurora. Some pros & cons to Hana Sushi. Clear pro is the nigiri was exceptional. The downsides outweigh the sushi, though. First, we ordered some eggrolls to start off and it was basically 1 eggroll sliced. For the money, it was too little for the price. The other thing is I just didn't like the ambience. The seats were extremely uncomfortable and overall the little place just feels cold & uninviting. Definitely not the kind of place where you feel like you can settle in and linger over your meal.

I was hungry because all I had that day was couple of cookies and peanuts on the airplane. Their hand rolls were good especially the spicy scallop. It was bit on the sweet side and their ponzu sauce was also good. It's not too much soy sauce taste and enough tang and sweetness. We also order pork katsu... it was not that great. Out side was flaky but the batter was not cooked all the way. I didn't have any of the rolls so I can't really say but the interior is big and clean and simple. I also didn't like it as much because there was a lady that keep going in and out with cleaning materials. I know you have to clean the place but to see it every 5 minutes I was there was not a plus for me. I would recommend that they put a little curtain or pretty Japanese room dividers so that customers don't have to see the employees walk between the kitchen and the other room with mops and other cleaning materials.

I like this place quite a bit! The service and grandpa making the sushi are all so friendly! My family comes here quite a bit as we love sushi and are sushi snobs, as it is usually our choice of food when we go out to eat. They recognized us as soon as we walked in, and greeted us warmly as if we were family. We ordered an assortment of various rolls and cuts of sushi (lots, as we are a family of 5 and can consume quite a bit), and we even got a couple extra as thanks. Not fishy at all and my mother (who has had many a bad experience with sushi) delights in eating here. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced sushi place in Denver. Actually, to anyone who likes sushi. Try the mochi ice cream for dessert as well! It is quite delicious.

Really great sushi. I have been several times. It is very modern interior, with glass tables and metal chairs. There is also a sushi bar you can sit at and watch tv as well. My favorite sushi roll is the fuji roll, I would definitely recommend getting it. Everyone that goes there gets the spicy (deep fried) mushroom rolls, I think it is their number one seller. I don't eat mushrooms but my husband loves that roll. The nice thing about their sushi too is that the rice is very sticky. Some restaurants don't use actual sticky rice and so the sushi falls apart, but here it is perfect! The waitstaff also is very friendly and made sure our drinks were refilled frequently.

My husband and I stopped here for our first visit recently and overall I am happy with the result. I ordered Futomaki and Vegetable sushi, both were good. My husband ordered the Yakisoba, which he was not impressed with. My husband lived in Japan for a couple of years and frequently ate the Yakisoba there, which he loved. The noodles are supposed to be crispy, but the noodles here were very soggy. He got chicken with it, which he did say he liked. Our waiter was polite, but he seemed very disconnected. He almost seemed annoyed by our presence. This ruined the atmosphere for me a little bit. I was very surprised to see the place nearly empty on a Saturday evening at 6 p.m. There was a party of 4 that had been there for a bit when we came in, but they left shortly thereafter and we never saw another soul come into the place before we left around 6:30. I would definitely get sushi from here again, though I don't think I will ever eat at the restaurant itself again. It will always be take-out for me from now on.

Hana Sushi is bar none the best place around to get sushi on the quick...or even on the slow. If ever I've got a hankerin' for some good sushi, I call to make an order and within 10 minutes its ready to go. I'm not a serious sushi eater (I pretty much stick to my rainbow roll), but when I'm feeling a bit adventurous and go for something new, Hana always ends up giving me a pleasent surprise. This place is simply delicious! The firecrackers are delicious and I can eat an entire order to myself...even if I can feel myself getting fatter in the process :)

I returned to Hana Sushi for lunch. I had been out running errands and ended up in the neighborhood and turned into the parking lot in a flash of a last minute decision. It was about 2 in the afternoon and the place was empty. I took a seat at the sushi bar and carefully selected my happy hour order. The sushi chef was very friendly. Also, on a side note, they changed the chairs at the sushi bar and they are much better than the old ones. After talking with the sushi chef, I found out that he is the owner of Hana Sushi. His name is Bob and he was very accommodating. I really enjoyed my sushi and had a great conversation about Asian cuisine with him and his wife. The experience was much better than the last. But due to the inconsistency in visits I've had here, I'm sticking with 3 stars. I will definitely go back if the opportunity arises. For Aurora sushi bars, it's a decent one!

(4)Diane B.
No complaints here. My husband and I have been in twice over the past few months. I'm not a huge sushi fan, so I can't comment much on that. Good service, food and nice portions.
(4)John W.
(4)Vanessa H.
(3)Lauren F.

(2)Sophie S.
(5)Aaron R.
Excellent food and service. Our server was also the owner! Nice man, obviously very knowledgeable and very friendly! Highly recommended!

(1)Cory R.
We stop here whenever we're in the area. As others have noted the interior is delightful - the large aquariums make for a unique dining experience. The sushi is always top notch (for Denver).
(4)Chad W.
(4)Kelly M.
(3)Julie L.
(2)B T.
(1)Scott C.
Very friendly and attentive service. Miso was perfect temp and tasty. Went with standard rolls (tuna, salmon, etc.) They were fresh and well made.

cheap sushi close to home.. how bad (or good!) could it be? it's a small place in a little strip mall off the side of a major street... hmm... why not. stopped in for a to-go order of sushi -- hostess was very nice and offered me some water while i waited. picked up a few rolls for myself and took them home. i'm pretty picky when it comes to what's "good" in terms of sushi -- not that i'm picky about what i'll eat (i'll pretty much eat everything when it comes to sushi!) but more that if you tell me a certain sushi joint is "the best" it better damn well blow my socks off. however, i was pleasantly surprised at this little place. i wouldn't say it was the best, but it was good. especially for a small little hole in the wall so close to home. i would go back again, preferably for happy hour dine in, to try more stuff. this place is A-OK.
(3)Larry M.

Hana is a great local spot. Great service and yummy sushi. Love the monkey brains and the rainbow roll

(4)Vickie R.
By far the best Sushi in Aurora! Really enjoyed our dinner, and will definatly be going back. Spider roll, Spicy tuna roll yum
(5)Bomby K.
(4)C.J. L.
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. I'm kind of a sushi virgin, but every time I've been here, the food, ambiance, and service has been incredible.
(5)Rich W.
(5)Cindy C.
(1)Haley M.
(5)Nichole S.
I spent time in Japan and lived in the northwest for years, where we have some of the best sushi place available, and Hana is for sure up there on my list of fav sushi places. Order anything and enjoy!!!
(4)Mark A.

(4)Katie L.
(4)Amanda L.
We love this sushi! The food is consistently great and the service is always friendly. The firecracker roll is a must try! Would recommend this place to anyone.
(5)Tina C.
(3)Matt R.
Every time my friends and I come here we try something new. The Godzilla roll and the tiger roll are especially good. The wait staff is very attentive, and the menu options are not lacking.
(5)Blythe K.
I'd just like to add that I've eaten here multiple times since my last 5-star review, and the sushi has been consistently my favorite in the Denver/Aurora area. If you're feeling adventurous, I recommend the Fuji roll. Delicious!!!
(5)Jay N.
Went with a friend the other night and would def go back again. Good food and good happy hour specials. Only thing was when we were done eating we ordered a few more but they wouldn't give us the happy hour price cause it was after seven although we got there at 630 thought that was pretty cheesy!
(3)michelle b.
(5)Stan H.
Good fresh sushi, with nice portion sizes. The staff is friendly and the service was great! Besides the sushi being good, Hana Sushi hasn't forgotten that Japanese food should be served and plated beautifully, not just plated with a plastic leaf stuck between pieces.
(4)Dan J.
Good value for sushi lunch.
(4)Gilbert S.
Nice place to get sushi, quiet and the sushi menu is not lacking. luch and dinner specials also hit the spot. don't get them mad though cause they will ban you for a week. " Next Friday you come and no sushi for you!"
(4)Kristin W.
Best sushi I've had in a long time, and I am very particular about my sushi! This is the only sushi bar I visit now.
(5)Sophie A.
(2)Molly A.
(5)Beth B.
(4)Jody D.
(4)Robert H.
(3)Amanda N.
(5)Taiwan M.
(2)Christine A.
(1)Rhiannon W.
Everything I've tried here is just delicious! I also love the eclectic decor. It's a hidden gem which is great because it means not much wait time. Staff is very friendly! YUM!
(5)James B.
(1)Risa G.
It is a rare find: a cozy, family-owned and operated restaurant in the Southern Aurora area. Hana Sushi has a standard Japanese menu, but the food is fresh, reasonably priced and well presented.
(5)Denise G.
(4)Tim O.
Rude service. The sushi is sub- par And the owner makes no excuses for being rude when asked about the bad service. I will never go back.
(1)Tiffany N.
(2)Joelle P.
(4)Amy W.
Really wish this place had better sushi. Its so close to my house but it tasted like pre-made sushi. The ambiance was okay and the service was nice but everything we ordered fell short.
(2)Alex L.
(3)Thavry P.
Ambience... I really had high hopes for this place.....:(
(1)Linda K.
Excellent food. The firecracker appetizer is a must have. Friendly staff, fantastic food!
(5)Jessica A.
Great food, reasonably priced. Firecracker appetizer was tasty, but be careful! It was definitely a spicy jalapeño in there! Fish was fresh, nice atmosphere - very low key. We will definitely be back!
(4)April S.
(4)Debi P.
(1)Kellen B.
(4)Briane M.
Love the firecracker at this place- very fast service. A little pricy but food is good and people are nice.
(4)jennifer s.
One of my favorite sushi places. My dad and I have been going here for years and there's never been a disappointment in food and service is exceptional. I appreciate all the owners have done to make us feel extra taken care of!
(5)Sean Q.
(1)Natalie B.
(1)Bobbi L.
Not much to look at inside. Very small rolls for the price. Two of us dropped $90+ and I left hungry. Nice staff.
(3)Mick P.
My second review here, much better this time round. Rice was on point, fish was very fresh and delicious. The train wreck roll was awesome! Great service excellent local sushi, we will be coming back glad to have a great local sushi joint!
(4)Mel V.
(3)Hilda F.
Two stars because the food was okay. Service was horrible. If I came here again it would be for take out only.
(2)Kristol T.
(5)Sheryle I.
(4)Jade N.
(5)Art S.
(2)Wiremonkey E.
I first tried them cause it was convenient really close to home to my surprise was actually good love there firecracker roll on the appetizer menu will continue to return
(5)Jason V.
My wife and I have been coming to Hana Sushi for about 4 years and the service and food is always outstanding! Keep up the great work, our favorite Sushi Bar, hands down!
(5)Adam A.
(3)Drew B.
(3)Dave P.
Very good happy hour! Sushi is some of the best downtown, and the drinks are very good (try one of the signature drinks... they are yummy!)
(4)Maddison H.
(4)Jeff B.

Visited with a group of 9. The owner was very nice, seating us quickly. The food was really good. No problems at all. We'll be back if ever in town again.

Good service and good food. Definitely worth stopping by. Get yourself some good sushi and don't spend an arm and a leg while doing it.
