High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. I live nearby and use to love this place. At first I was not only satisfied but I was impressed. But over the last few months the service, food and drinks have gone downhill fast. This last visit sealed the deal for me. I am not picky and don't like to complain! it's embarrassing as well as risky. But I had to send my super sugary drink back because I just couldn't drink it. Then I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was just a big boiled mess of ick. my son ordered the mac n cheese and also didn't like it because it seemed about a day old. Dark orange. Dry and gritty. When I sent back the scampi I apologized profusely. But upon the waitresses return she didn't ask me if I wanted anything else she just handed me check and walked away. Then the table next to me asked about the scampi because they noticed me send mine back. The waitress said, " No. It's good. She just didn't like anything." I've waited tables. And i have bartender so I am sympathetic to their situation but I in this situation it is on applebees this time. Sorry. *I can't believe I still tipped her leaving hungry and humiliated. Never ever again.

Typical Applebee's fare. No better. No worse. Decent employees but nothing memorable. This restaurant is very conveniently located to four enormous hotels all sharing the same parking lot essentially. It can get busy the later you wait to go. I suggest having dinner right at 5pm or so. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Bourbon Street Steak plate. Total calories are 720 which isn't horrible.
(3)Anna C.
My boyfriend and I come here often because it's convenient. It's also one of the chain restaurants that are open until midnight during the weekdays which is nice since my boyfriend typically works late. It's a typical chain restaurant, so nothing special. The food is good and the service is decent. I'm never wowed when I eat here, but I'm never disappointed either. We usually eat late at night since again it's one of the only restaurants that is open late, but maybe the atmosphere is different during other times of the day.

Hard to fuck up a burger. Thank God. The beer was cold, so that made it a little more bearable that the service was slow as balls. I would not eat here again unless I was forced to. I just happened to be staying at the Aloft and it was the only restaurant within walking distance. I'm glad I was drunk before I went in.
(2)Brian W.
Friendly staff. Bartender likes too much ice in the mixed drinks so stick with beer. Half price apps nightly from 9p to12p is a good value. Karaoke on Thursdays
(3)R G.
Unexciting food, decent service. About what you would expect from an Applebee's that is surrounded by hotels (a somewhat captive audience). We tried to go to Ted's next door, but it was a 45 minute wait for two and the bar was already quite overloaded. We walked 50 feet to Applebee's, got seated right away, there were plenty of empty tables... So you can tell how popular it is.

Saturday November 29th 2014 - Applebee's Aurora Location... It has been ages since we last step in any Applebee's... Man they really "revamped" their interior looks what nots... We went here for Dinner after work since we don't feel like travelling across town etc just to have Dinner. Time was about 19:00hrs. We came in, greeted by the one of the staffs, and ushered to one of the Booth Seating in the "Military Room"... Err, this room is filled with pictures of Military Personnel, Jet Fighters what nots.. From the extensive menu they offer, we opt to order the following items : * Ultimate Trio ($12.99) * Mushroom Swiss Burger ($10.99) * Fish & Chips ($12.99) Hubs opt to have Coffee ($2.49) while I opt to have Fountain Root Beer ($2.49). Our lovely server who is originally from Korea, her name is Kyong J. She is indeed attentive, answers our questions and so cheerful! Our food came out periodically. From what I could recall, the items we choose for the Ultimate Trio are Classic Wings with Asian Dressing, Cheeseburger Sliders and Grilled Chicken Wonton Tacos. There is 2 Sliders each, hence Hubs can have 1 and I can have 1. Both Hubs and I like those Ultimate Trio that we choose. Hubs likes his Main Entrée of Fish & Chips, and so do I, for my Main Entrée of Mushroom Swiss Burger. Portion are decent and we are indeed stuffed after that Dinner evening. YES, this establishment is large enough to have or bring a PARTY! A lot more patrons with their families and kids came in, while we were there. The area where we were seated its more "quieter" compared to the Main Bar area, where ALOT of TV Screens are showing the latest game in town etc. All in all Decent Dining experience here and may return when needed. Left this establishment about 20:00hrs ish. The opening hours for this Applebee's Aurora Location is as following : * Monday - Thursday : 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM * Friday - Saturday : 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM * Sunday : 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM Call them in advance to verify their operation hours in case, they might change it. I came here with a co worker/friend after a long day. We came for dinner. I got the Oriental Chicken Salad. She got Chicken tenders. Mine was good, I get this dish when coming to Applebee's. She said she liked here. Our waitress was Becca she was wonderful! She did an outstanding job. The only that could have been better was the cleanness however we got there after the dinner rush.
(4)Bjern H.
The bartender's were friendly. I ordered onion rings which tasted superp. I visited a place next door to this restaurant and didn't like the clientele and staff as much as here at Applebee's. They would bring the receipt after ordering each drink which I liked to keep track of time. I'd recommend comparing it to the other 3 or 4 restaurants in that vicinity but this one might be the best one for a visit with refreshments and food. Main reason is the people working there that I appreciated.
(5)Ali L.
I've been to probably 20 Applebees locations in my life, and I have to say that this one ranks pretty average. The service is always pretty attentive, and the food is always good. I usually order something new each time I go, but lately I've been ordering their sirloin off the 550 calorie menu. Most places fail at cooking a steak to my liking, but this Applebee's was spot-on with my Medium-Medium Rare. Due to its close proximity and my good experiences, I'll keep going back.
(3)Kyle M.
Went here just to relax and have a cold drink and some food. Ordered a margarita pretty sure it did not have any alcohol tasted like mix and salt. My honey chicken mac and cheese was bland and tasteless but I guess what can you expect from the 2 for 25 menu. Chilis is way better
(2)Maseray S.
Ordered chicken penne pasta and and the Asian chicken salad car side. Got back to the hotel to find out they didn't include the chicken in the salad. When we called to complain they gave us a couple dollars off but really they should have made it free for the inconvenience. The food didn't taste that great either. I think that's our last time going to Applebee's.
(1)Susan C.
This was our first visit to Applebee's while visiting Denver (and staying in Aurora), Co. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with artichoke and my husband had the fried fish dinner. My sandwich was plentiful but just so-so taste-wise. My husband's fish had a heavy batter. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things...who knows.
(2)Sean R.
Service was great as service goes. But Ordered the house salad without cheese, the waitress says salad no cheese as she put the plate on the table. It had the same amount of cheese as the other person that ordered the normal house salad. Then we both had the 7oz sirloin off of the 2 for $20 menu they came out cooked correctly but tasted like they come to the restaurant frozen with the grill marks and they just warm them up in a broth of some sort.
(3)Amy F.
My husband and I went here earlier last night for some quick food. I would not recommend this place. I'm trying to continue writing my complaint about them, but their contact us page is down. Unlike my other reviews, I am not going to write a lot here, except to say that the service was horrible, the server was aggressive in her approach to us with taking our orders, and a manager who only cares about a table that he can hit on with the mom and her two young kids.
(1)Tiffany H.
Ordered carry out. Very easy to order online. Was ready within 15 minutes. Food was fresh and hot. Large portions. They give you plenty of condiments. Friendly staff. Customer service was great. Price was good. My biggest complaint was the chicken fingers were a little over cooked/ hard and on the smaller side. The overall taste of the food was good.
(4)Michael H.
Ok so I had the tequila tango chicken and shrimp....and it was Amazing!!!!!! The customer service here is outstanding! I was visiting from Colorado Springs, heading out to Amsterdam. My wife and I decided to stop by Applebee's, after having bad experiences with Applebee's, I must say, this visit definitely changed the way I think about Applebee's. Our bartender Keisha was very polite and professional, give her a raise!!!!
(5)Mario Y.
Great food from great people. I've never been so satisfied from my dining experience. From the moment I walked in and was greeted by the host, I knew I picked the right place. The server was so attentive, and even the manager came by to check on me. Despite being very busy, my food came out hot, quick, and delicious. I had a steak that was cooked perfectly and was extremely juicy
(5)El C.
Food quality is Applebee's (low and processed)). Drink selection bad. Bar tender provided great service and was engaging but not annoying.
(2)Peter T.
Food: 3/5 Ambiance: 2.5/5 Services: 3.5/5 Prices: $$ (avg 15/person) Some time its good to just follow the flow and go the American way... We missed out flight out from Denver and was offered a great rate to stay at the Marriott at the Gateway Park for $79/night. This is a semi-industrial area and there's 3 restaurants just a block from the hotel, Montana Grill, Uno Pizza & Applebee's... After spending the whole afternoon skiing, then stuck in the traffic for nearly 3.5 hrs and missing our flight back to Houston, we thought, why not go crazy and eat something fattening and unhealthy... So, Applebee's that is! We ordered the following: The Ultimate Trio $11.49: Choose any 3 items from about 12 choices and I picked the [1] Quesadilla tower with chunks of steak, bell peppers, onions & lots of cheese, very flavorful and taste better when you dipped into the salsa that comes with it, the best item [2] Boneless hot wing with ranch dip, get about 8 crispy chicken nuggets dipped in some sort of tabasco mixes [3] Cheese slider, you get 2 of this slightly bigger than usual slider with a generous patty. I didnt touch the 2nd one and not even finish the first. Its just OK but its sure better than the slider from Little Big! Burger $9.99: My partner went for this huge helping of burger with fries. It came open-face with a big patty & equally sized slice of cheese and 2 slices of bacons, i didnt taste it but it does look OK! Perfect Ritas: They uses the premium spirit and served straight up in a salt-rimmed Martini glass. Yes, this was a PERFECT rita, love it! Peach Sangria: Quite refreshing but lack the "fruitiness". They uses Sutter Home White Zin, so, nothing to rave about... Overall, we had quite a satisfying meal considering the day we had. We just want to eat something and go back to our room, rest and fly back to Houston the next day. I have been to Applebee's once before about 4 years ago and the most memorable thing i had was their riblets, i'm glad they still serve that but this time, i wanted something different and i have to say, they are better than TGIF!
(3)Justin M.
The waitress was friendly but I didn't like 2 things: 1) I felt that the waitress was trying really hard to get me to pay more by ordering more or adding add ons. Obv the higher the the total goes, the higher tip that she will get. 2) I aksed for a medium well steak but I got rare. It was pink inside. Came to town for business and visited this place for the first time.
(3)Jannie D.
New Applebees off Havana in Aurora,CO, IS AWFUL (their location isn't on here to write a review, yet). Service was horrible. Our waitress must've had a job at McDonalds last, where she thinks it's appropriate to bring the check and ask if you want dessert after only 15% of your meal gone, then comes back and acts appalled that we haven't paid yet. Not to mention, she took a beer that still was about 10 percent full! Didn't ask if we were done or anything. She didn't know what was in one of their signature drinks that was on the front of the menu and didn't know what beers they had on tap? Then we called down a manager, which NEVER happens with us, we're pretty laid back. But I was so upset because she came back TWICE to see if we had paid yet when we're still eating. She wanted to take my salad while I WAS STILL eating it. AWFUL. I explained all this to the manager, or assistant manager, who made it obvious he could care less. His main concern was, was our food good? Yeah, BUT even if the food is bad, you could make a customers experience better just based on service and willingness to fix it. Service is more important than food in my opinion! It was insane to me. The manager fixed NOTHING, didn't even replace the beer that was taken while 10 percent full. I would think AT least that would be taken care of. Usually, when we go to applebees about once a week, we sit at the bar, I'VE NEVER had any issues, but since this was the NEW applebees we decided to dine in.... won't be doing that. Stick with bar service. It's better. Just dumbfounded how little the manager cared. I regretfully, still tipped the waitress 10 percent of the check, just because she at least came and apologized... it just seemed her AND the manager just thought we were being "difficult" which is definitely not the case. We're very laid back. But I'VE NEVER had my check brought to me after one bite into the meal, and asked if I wanted dessert when I haven't even finished a meal.

Applebees is terrible. We don't need more chain restaurants in this area
(1)Jodi A.
An evening filled with misogyny and lame company possibly didn't help...Applebees is Applebees. I liked the fried chips with the queso sauce. Addictive and encrusted my arteries with spicy cheese and grease. My cohorts imbibed in tall beers, and I could not, rendering the conversation into levels of idiocy that sober people shouldn't try to debate in the confines of... I just wanted a shot glass full of that cheese to finally kill me off. It probably would have only taken two.
(3)Dean S.
Exactly what you would expect. The only real red flag is that if you go here a few times, its never the same people working. that usually tells me the general care put into the dining experiance is low. they do have good prices on food and drinks during happy hour, and theres a huge parking lot. the service is also generally quick.
(2)Summer S.
I love their selections. However, their salad's aren't that great tasting. I like their under 500 menu - full of flavorful meals. Their choose 2 is awesome, plenty of food for a great price. The atmosphere is a little divvy, but all in all a good place to go.
(4)Brian H.
The food is as good as any Applebee's Our Server when we finally got one was great, but when I asked why it took so long, her reply was I do not know, OK that is fine I can live with that, She was pleasant and kept checking on us,
(2)Andrea v.
Standard chain restaurant food. I've been to this property several times in the past few weeks. The food is actually pretty decent. The spinach salad with grilled shrimp is nice. The low cal version of the French onion soup is surprisingly good. Cajun Lime Tilapia had good flavor but was a bit over cooked (dry). The apple-wood chicken was also tasty. Nice change from the regular burger and fries type offerings! Service was inconsistent, sometimes very good, sometimes painfully slow. Decor was standard - nothing exciting. There is a bar area but I didn't sample from the beverage offerings. Bottom line - Decent food, decent price, not too bad for a chain restaurant. Consider it if you are in the area and looking for a casual place for lunch or dinner. Edit - Went there again this evening. Horrible service. Over cooked steak & shrimp. Have to downgrade them to 2 stars based on the generally crappy service and inconsistent quality of the meals.
