New brewery in Old Town Arvada. The beers are great and the people working here are super nice. Haven't tried the food but will be back to try that soon! Come check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Tried a sampler of each of the beers (with my wife, they have 10+ beers on tap) and split a pepperoni pizza. The pizza was pretty solid, but the beers shine. I am a fan of quite a few of their beers, and will definitely get them in their intended full sizes next time. Quite a hidden gem.

Great beer. Great food. Great service. This will be my new hang out for sure. They are very accomadating to different size parties also.

This place is wonderful! They have done a lot of work since opening to create a nice atmosphere for their customers. They have a good selection (10-12) of diverse beers on tap. The nut brown ale is my favorite! The staff is very friendly. Overall, a lovely place to grab a pint or a pizza in Olde Town Arvada.

Tried the Pumphouse Lager, Rocky Mountain Red Ale, and the White Cap Wheat. All were awesome! Didn't try the food, but it was great that they at least offered it! Service was great as well.

I love the Vienna style beer I had. Price point seems a tad high, but worth returning.

Well, well, well a good brewery found in the 'burbs? No way, Jose! Yes, it's true. Grand Lake Brewing has a pretty good roundup. In fact, I found 3 that I liked well enough via those HUGE tasters. I always love when I am impressed by something I wouldn't normally order, and they surprised me not once, but twice. The lager was excellent. Even on a frigid night, I would have happily enjoyed a pint of this stuff. It was refreshing, light, and FLAVORFUL. It had a bit of a fruit taste - did I catch some peach notes? Whatever it was, it was delightful. And the scotch ale. I don't normally lean towards these either, but again the flavor was awesome. Berry fruit forward (no pun intended). It reminded me of wine, because of the fruit flavor and also because it was less carbonated than the others. If you find yourself getting the beer munchies, they also make pizza in house- smelled amazing but how the heck can pizza NOT smell tantalizing?! I caught a glimpse of one and it looked a bit burnt, so I can't speak to the taste. The smells on the other hand, good in my book. :) One complaint I have is that it was FRIGID in there. Many people in there (including me) were wearing their jackets. It was already 9 degrees outside, couldn't they warm it up a bit in there? Would have made us a bit more comfortable (and thirsty!).

This place is really friendly and a very modest and relaxed atmosphere. The calzones have A LOT of taste, so it can depend on how your tastebuds react. We had the Mediterranean and Buffalo Chicken calzones. Like I said, heavy on the taste. Their tomato sauce is a bit on the spicy side. Overall great people just starting out a new brewery/tavern. The Pumphouse German Lager was the best :) we had a taster of 8!

EPIC FAIL! So we found this place online for a coupon on restaurant.com and the reviews seemed promising. OMG this place is one of the worst breweries we've ever been to. AS IN THE WORST. First lets just focus on the beer...lacks in all ways possible. There is no flavor, even the stout was bland and watery. No flavor at all. The White Cap beer they had was so bad I had to send it back. The pizza for us was good, we had the Mediterranean..fine, it was good, not great but good. The cheese pizza my son ordered was a different story, it looked like an over cooked pizza from little Caesars. Sauce running out of the cheese as in way too much, the cheese was burnt and over cooked, if we weren't already upset on the service we would have said something on the pizza as well, but we just wanted out of there. He did stomach it, but it was far from a $8 "pizza". A $5 pizza from dominos would have sufficed. NOW LETS TALK ABOUT SERVICE! Service was a joke, they had one guy working the entire place, it took over 10min just to take our drink order, another 10 for food, and food took close to 20 min++ to come out. Then finally an additional staff member showed up. She asked if we were good we said, NO, haven't seen the current server in forever, we are at the point we just want to leave. Instead of saying sorry, or let me make the experience better, she just gave excuses about having staff issues. IF you don't have enough staff, don't open the doors. She then went into what I call *itch mode, and you pretty much lost me from there. I'm a commercial banker, trust me we all have bad days, but as for customer service you still must maintain a level of ok when customers are unhappy. She clearly is unable to do so, and in return, created not only an unpleasant experience but escalated it into one of my worst experiences I can remember. As in this will be my story when talking about bad experiences. That in and of itself is not a good thing. They stated the owner was named Brian, if he does read this, I'm sorry, but with the staff and attitudes, your place is bound to fail. For others reading, save yourself the time, go to Kokopelli's in Westminster, Big Choice, Westminster brewery, Odd 13, Wonderland, all of them will be a considerably improved experience and much better beer. We visit in excess of 50 breweries a year and this by far has topped them all off as the worst. I hate giving bad reviews, but my experience by no way was ok.

The Stumpjumper IPA is very, very good. The pizzas are decent, but really expensive so hopefully the pricing will be fixed really soon. The inside is a bit drab, but they just opened last week, so give them a freaking break, man!!!! Guy!!!!

Excellent brewery with great selection of beers. The environment is great and has a distinct Colorado atmosphere. They have a wide selection of beer to cater to all tastes. Every beer we tried was well crafted and had great flavor. Highly recommend Grand Lake!

I'm a big fan of grand lake brewing's beers but the service is really not the best and the prices are a bit inflated compared to other tap rooms I visit. The lady behind the counter is pretty friendly but the guys taking orders come off like dicks and did not honor my $1 off pint for checking in on yelp. Overall beer is great, but as a hang out it is stuffy and not very welcoming. I'll stick to buying a 6 pack and saving some money.

Pleasant, friendly staff. Flaverful, fresh menu. We've tried four food items and all were good. Yes, we will be goimg back.

First time in had an oatmeal stout very tasty the staff were very friendly and the pizza looks great will have to come back for pizza next time , the wife had the pump house lager she enjoyed very much.

  • Stefanie W.

The pizza was really good. The menu is limited tho. We bought the yelp deal so it wasn't a total loss, but it's hard to spend 30$. The menu is limited to pizza, salads, and bruschetta so when we yelped it and it said pizza/American, I was thinking more of burgers, fries, sandwiches, pizza, salads. Cute atmosphere and great pizza. Rating it 3 stars do to the very limited menu.

Stopped in for a beer. Ended up enjoying a great pizza and really good beer. The Wooly Booger was my favorite, followed by the White Cap Wheat. The bartender was a really pleasant bearded fellow. Service was just right. Not hovering but attentive. This place is a little hard to find but worth the effort!

Great service. Fantastic weekly events. I love the FREE Wednesday Night Cards Against Humanity Tournaments. This is such a fun idea. Just show up at 7pm, solo or with a friend or with a group of friends, sit at any of the tables in the back and just enjoy an evening of cards and beers. We have met some fantastic new friends, here. They play three 30-min rounds. The person at the end of each round with the most black cards gets a free beer and the person with the most black cards at the end of the night gets a gift certificate. Lexi is the lovely brunette behind the bar who will recommend a beer you will love. She also runs the CAH games and stocks the "box of crap" for the winners of the lowest score of the evening. They also have weekly bluegrass music and other events. This is just a fun spot in Olde Town Arvada.

I gave it an "A-OK" because the beer is pretty good, but there are a lot of places to get good beer. The service is good, too, but there seemed to be only one guy running the whole place. If it gets busy, expect a wait. And, finally, I like the cute atmosphere of the place. I marked them down because we had the pizza. The pizza was absolutely beautiful, but there was only one vegetarian option on the menu if you wanted red sauce, unless you made your own. And, the crust looked like "pre-fab," something not unlike what Chuck E. Cheese used to have. There were definitely a lot of preservatives in that crust, but at least it did not have an aftertaste. All in all, it is new, cute, and "A-OK," but nothing really special, and nothing really new. It's off the beaten path, too. It's a full block off of Olde Town in Arvada, and I am not sure they will be successful in attracting people over there. They may be hoping the Gold Line will bring them more customers, but that light rail line doesn't open until next year. They'll have to tough it out until then.

With such great reviews my family and I were excited to try a new local place.... EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Only one guy working so service was ridiculously slow. Pizza took forever, there was wayyyyyy too much sauce and the cheese was over cooked (the flavor of the sauce was ok though, and the crust was good). The first beer we tried was the White Cap and it was undrinkably bad, sent it back... Tried three others, all were ok but rather flavorless and not worth the price (there are tons of local breweries with far, far superior beer at the same if not lower prices). Up to this point the experience was mediocre and disappointing at best, but it went from bad to ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE when another employee showed up, a blond INCREDIBLY RUDE woman. We asked for our check after waiting for some time after we'd finished our meal (halfway through which my son ran out of soda and it was never refilled!) and we mentioned our extreme annoyance with the situation. Instead of apologizing in any way, she made excuses, walked off, came back to slam the ticket on the table and stomp off again. Never once did she bother to say sorry!! It's customer service 101 lady, always treat your customer with respect! If you can't refrain from throwing a fit over some criticism, that wasn't even directed at you by the way, find a different job, this clearly isn't the profession for you!

Cool and weird at the same time. It's a block off Olde Town Arvada, so I expected it to be packed like the other breweries, but it wasn't. Only about 3 tables were full and maybe 4 people at the bar. I liked the beers, and the food was decent. Thursday night is Music Bingo night, which actually was a lot of fun. I expected the music to be played through, but we just got snippets that were too loud to talk over. I hope they are busy more often than not, it seemed like a cool place to hang out.

Well look at you, Grand Lake Brewing, sneaking a tap room into the Denver area with very little fanfare. I had no idea! And in Old Towne Arvada - GREAT choice! I don't even recall how I came across it, but I'm glad I did! Situated one block west of the slightly busier part of Old Towne Arvada, the Grand Lake Brewing Tavern is a great find! First things first, the beers! That's why you're here, right? You should realize that Grand Lake Brewing is definitely not new to the Colorado brewing scene. In fact, founded in 2002, they were one of the early ones. They are fairly well established and you can usually find at least one of their beers at your local liquor store. I'd say their Plaid Bastard Scotch Ale is the one you'll see most often. To me, that's their best beer! But all of the others that I've tried are very well made. Don't come here to get an exotic sour or an saison. For the most part, they have very well made straight-ahead beers and the names tell you what you're drinking: White Cap Wheat, Summit Pale, Wooley Booger Nut Brown, Stumpjumper India Pale Ale, etc...all good beers! Walking in, you're greeted by a very warm and rustic space. Tall ceilings, wood paneling, a glossy wooden bar top, and classic style paintings, many of them done by a local artist whose name escapes me. There's plenty of seating for a good crowd; there's the very long bar, numerous 4 top tables, and then a couple of long booths towards the back. We were there one Tuesday for their Bluegrass jam session and had a great time! However, if you don't like Bluegrass...well, nobody's perfect... Grand Lake Brewing Tavern also has salads, bruschetta, pizza, and calzones! I've only tried a couple of the pizzas but they were very tasty. Two 10" pizzas should feed two of you, and if you get a salad, you may have some leftovers. Grand Lake Brewing Tavern is a great addition to an already great area. If you haven't been to Olde Arvada, definitely check it out!

Over the last couple weeks, The Grand Lake Brewing Company opened a tavern in Olde Town Arvada. We stopped in for a couple beers Saturday morning. They have a large wooden bar, tables and a couple tvs. Sometimes, what more can you ask for? We did not try the pizza, but will be back soon. The Grand Lake Brewing Company is located in Historic Grand Lake, Colorado at 8,369 feet above sea level. We are at the Western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Our beers are made from the pure headwaters of the Colorado River, the finest malted barley and hops from around the globe, and English Ale Yeast from one of England's oldest breweries.

So I tried a couple different beers but one that really stuck out was peach wheat! phenomenal smell and taste. Didn't get a chance to try the pizza but it smelled amazing. The service for the short time we were there was fanatic well. I will update once I have tried the pizza.

Really nice little place. Between my boyfriend and I we tried 5 different beers and all were really good! We also got food (salad and pizza) which were surprisingly good as well. If you're in a hurry this is not the place for you. The pizzas take at least 30 mins to cook (one guy running the whole place) but it's worth it and a great place to relax and unwind

I think this place is going to be a great addition to the Olde Town bar and restaurant scene. Like Shaun S mentioned, we stopped in early in the day on Saturday to try and beer and check things out. I tried the White Cap Wheat and the Pumphouse Lager. Both were tasty, but I liked the Lager a little better. It was early in the day so the place was empty, but it's fairly large. The bartender mentioned that they are still in their "soft-opening" phase so not everything is in it's final place yet - most of the walls are still blank, but that will be remedied soon. They have a full menu with appetizers, salads and pizzas and I've already picked out a few things I'd like to try. We'll definitely be back soon!

Great ambiance, spectacular beer, friendly staff, and amazing food! I highly recommend checking this place out. Situated in Olde Town Arvada, it's a great place to drink some beers and enjoy good food in a chic and unpretentious environment. For my visit I had Lexi and BJ as my bartenders. Super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They were able to take my specific preferences for flavor and consistency in beer and point me in the right direction. I had the Pumphouse Lager: light and delicious, Summit Pale Ale: great flavor, and the Stumpjumper IPA. I also had dinner: the Buffalo Chicken Pizza: amazing sauce with great buffalo flavor and the crust was great! The decor is chic yet unassuming and the ambiance of the bar is great: friendly and warm. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for a place to drink and relax with great beer and good food! 10/10 will try again!

little-known, but great brewpub in olde towne arvada. the red ale, scotch ale, and 1881 ipa are very well done. i haven't eaten there yet, but the food looks and smells great. atmosphere is nice with vintage CO artwork rendered on the walls. staff is very friendly and polite. highly recommended. i worry this won't be a place you can just sit and read quietly by yourself for long, but in a good way.

Fun place with good beer! We ordered a flight of 8 tasters and the bruschetta with pesto, feta and prosciutto. The beer was excellent, not on the top of our list of favorites but we both enjoyed them. The IPA didn't have a strong hoppy flavor or aroma, but I liked it. The Scotch Ale was both our favorites by a landslide. The bruschetta was delicious also!! The bartender was great, friendly, and attentive. We were in a rush and didn't have to wait long for food or to get our check. I used the Yelp $1 off one pint coupon for the Plaid Scotch Ale. We will definitely be back to visit!

Cool, they had their IPA and their Stout on tap tonight. both really good beers and combined with their Scotch Ale that's three beers they have that I prefer over nearby ABC's recent beers but of course it's all about personal preference and tastes. Their beers in general are fairly solid across the board so I'm kicking it up a star. I kinda dissed their pizza in the last review and the main problem I had with their pie is that the slightly too thick crust on the pie we had wasn't totally cooked but close enough to be edible, I'll try food there again I'm sure and post how it is the next time out. It's kinda strange to me that with only 4 check-ins here I'm the Duke? i'd assume that they'd have more of a fan base already but considering that there are three other breweries nearby, it might take a little bit before some of the people that aren't into the other breweries figure out that they're here. Hopefully that happens for them.

The food is good and the service was friendly. I like that you can do the sampler flights, cause I love to try new beers without committing to a full glass. My favs were the Doppelbock and the Wooly Booger. yes it's called Wooly Booger - but it's dam tasty, so you won't care what they call it after you have a sip.

I'm not exactly sure where the miscommunication and shitty attitudes came from. We can only handle so much fake nice and not enough problem solving. Thanks for driving for hours to visit for father's day, dad, sorry we couldn't feed you in a timely manner. Sorry no one adulted up..we know you didn't raise us like that. 1 1/2 + Hours for mediocre doughy pizza and bad attitudes...uh no. Telling us repeatedly it will be 'a few more min.' For over an hour is unacceptable. Having 3 servers and a GM come fix it and not fix it? Waste your money anywhere else...even fast food (because let's be honest, it wasn't even that good).

  • Nat S.

Beer was good, and so was the calzone. I had the Med one, with pesto sauce. I was super hungry, and it sure hit the spot. Beer was good, but not really any standouts in this beer scene. The bartender was a really nice dude, who seemed to be manning the kitchen as well. Really the place is more than adequate, but it did not really stand out to me.

  • Caren H.

Great beer, great atmosphere. But the pizza sauce...wowza! The kids took one bite, started screaming and chugging water. We adults suffered through about a piece and a half, sweating and chugging our beers. I've never had sauce so hot. My husband loves spicy food and he could only stand two slices. We ordered three pizzas and left two on the table. Our server said no one had complained about the sauce all weekend. I find it hard to believe no one would have said anything if their pizzas were as hot as ours. Which leads me to wonder if something happens to our pizzas before they came out. We said something to the server, but he didn't seem to believe us. On the plus side, our mouths were on fire so we stopped for ice cream after! I would go again for the beer, but I would be careful with the pizza, especially if you are taking kids.

Good beers on tap, tasty pizza and a super-nice wait staff! Give it a try

  • Christina K.

People here very friendly and beer is decent. Do NOT order any food here if your in a hurry. Takes 45+ minutes to get a cheese pizza. When they say they have a small kitchen their not joking. They don't come by and let you know how your orders coming along or anything. For having less than 20 people in the whole place there should be better service. Not a recommended place to go.

We stopped in for beers this past snowy Sunday. I had the White Cap Wheat, which was a bit too bitter for my taste, but I enjoyed it. The space is beautiful and the location is perfect. I haven't tried the food yet, but I definitely recommend this brewery.

  • Sam S.

This place is the best, you should go here. They have some great beer and some delicious pizza. Isn't that all you want in life? If it's not I think you should reevaluate your priorities. Also it's clean and the staff are nice and stuff.

  • Nicole B.

What a nice surprise! Sexi Lexi was the best very knowledgeable and friendly. Our pizza was delicious, hand tossed and all fresh ingredients and the sauce had an extra yummy spice that hit the spot. Like a quick step into a local bar in Grand Lake. The kale salad s full of fresh feta, cranberries, and a perfectly dressed salad. Still thinking about the salad. Looking forward to going back. As for the beer, I love great beer, Grand Lake has some great selections and a few mild and easy going brews, just like the place not trying to go over the top. Seems they have Tuesday bluegrass and Wednesday cards against humanity bar... Wish it was in my neighborhood. Looking guard to going back.

This place is a great find. And find it you must. Without a sign outside, you need to know this place is there or you will miss it. First, the beer. The brown ale is about the best of that variety that I have ever had. The Scotch Ale is also an outstanding beer. I don't think I have had a bad beer here. Second, the food. Oh, shut up and take my money!! The pizza is good and the bruschetta is amazing!! Bottom line: Find this place and enjoy!
