Great for breakfast or brunch with friends. Fantastic food and good service. A favorite of my friends that live nearby.

We stumbled upon George's on a Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised. Let me tell you they have a broad range of food here, Greek, Mexican and regular diner fare. It seemed clean, the waitstaff was nice, the food was tasty and it was an overall good experience! It is very much what you would expect from a diner type place and what you deserve as well. It was cheap and tasty. Oh yeah, we are now friends of George and will be back to try something new.

I had breakfast there this morning. I ordered the greek breakfast skillet. I wasn't impressed with the plate at all. It consisted of cubed deep fried potatoes on the btm of the skillet, two thin slabs of gryos meat topped with two eggs to order with a side of gyros sause. The potatoes just did't have any flavor..bland for sure! The gryos meat was too thin to get any good taste at all, so thumbs down for that breakfast entr'e. The service was friendly, however, I would have gave three stars, but I ordered coffee and the server never came to refill my cup. I have had the same plate over at Ralston Cafe and I can assure you that they serve a fantastic breakfast gyro skillet.

Ate here again this last weekend. I ordered the pancake sandwich. Its basically a ham omelet laid flat, sandwiched between two pancakes. Even today I'm not sure if I liked it. It certainly wasn't amazing. The pancakes themselves were good. The omelet-like thing was good, by itself. Neither was really excellent and certainly it wasn't great together. It was packed though. There were so many people waiting to get in. That has to say something. They really could use a little more room for waiting patrons, but for as fast as they get people in and out, I guess the waiting area they have is sufficient. This place really is just an A-OK place. The only thing about this place that is superb is the price. For 2 of us for breakfast, the total bill: $13.65 Now that is a cheap breakfast. And for that price, its hard to be picky.

My family have been coming here for close to 11 years now an we have never had a bad meal!! Each time we visit we feel part of a family and really have met some nice people there.

We hit up George's Saturday morning and at around 8:30 it was packed! The service was quick and we were seated in under 10 minutes. I ordered the Greek skillet with tasty gyro meat, eggs, feta cheese, & tomatoes on top of some fries with pita slices & tzaziki sauce on the side. It was great, but next time I'll skip the potatoes. The pita slices to eat everything with was just enough. The prices are very reasonable averaging at around $5-$7 for breakfast. If you come during the week they have breakfast specials for around $3-$4. I'll be back for sure!

Good food, but chicken on my pita was a little bland.

Went there yesterday for lunch. Ordered the Monte Cristo and was very disappointed! It was a cheese and meat sandwich between 2 slices of french toast with 2 packets of jelly on the side. A real Monte Cristo is dipped in batter and deep-fried with raspberry jam (not packets) on the side. Would suggest they remove it from the menu! Service was quick and friendly. However, waitress didn't come back for quite some time after bringing our food. My daughter ordered the Pancake Sandwich and said it was "blah" and didn't even eat half of it. Probably won't return.

George's is a decent neighborhood greasy spoon breakfast joint. Anything with their green chili is pretty good. The service is always friendly and the food is good and cheap. Two people can easily eat breakfast for under 20 bucks, with tip. We actually go out of our way and pass a couple similar chain places on the way there. Unfortunately they serve margarine, by default, with their pancakes, waffles or french toast, but they were always happy to bring real butter on request until our last visit. On our last visit, we were told that they were no longer offering real butter, at all, when I tried to order it with my pancakes. What the heck is that about? If I'm going to indulge in something as unhealthy as white flour pancakes, the last thing I'm going to do is ruin it with margarine. It's bad enough that they don't have real maple syrup and only offer maple flavored corn syrup. No real butter is a deal breaker for me. It looks like we'll be driving to somewhere like Cracker Barrel for pancakes since they have real butter and maple syrup. Unfortunately I just don't see myself coming back here.

I am surprised about all these good reviews but I have a hunch it's because these are all breakfast goers. I came here for dinner. And they were closing down before closing time. Got lasagna (they gave me frozen vegetables from a bag). The salad had celery in it. CELERY! And random pieces of bell pepper! My boyfriend got the gyro dinner thing. Mediterranean Cafe does a better job (I would hope so). They gave us our dips and stuff in little plastic containers so we ended up having 6 or 7 little containers all over the table. What happened to reduce, reuse, recycle? They also gave us our iced teas totally filled with ice...like those chunky square ice cubes that are sharp and stuck together so mixing my sugar was extremely difficult. It is definitely not packed for dinner... Otherwise, quick service and quick refills.

I love a good gyro, and I figured that with the Greek vibe of this place they'd have a good one. Unfortunately, I was let down. It seems like too many places that offer gyros go for the 'loaf' style of meat instead of the only way to have it, right off the big meat cone rotisserie. Aside from the underwhelming gyro, the service was very good, and the prices were reasonable. The other people in my party mentioned that their food was too bland. I normally don't get up to this part of town very often, but the next time I do I'd try somewhere else before making a repeat stop here.

Just had breakfast here. Good food, VERY reasonable prices. They have a lot of tables in a fairly small place, but it didn't feel uncomfortably crowded. The place was packed but the tables seem to turn over pretty quickly.

I've been here twice. The first time was very good, the second time, not so much. The food is always the same which is normally a good thing, but again my first visit made a much more positive impression. Old school diner which is really my style, but for some reason George's just doesn't do it for me I guess. Good service, good food but unless I get invited, I probably won't be back. Its not bad, but not good enough for me to go out of my way.

George's is a great little diner in Arvada, CO. I've only ever been for breakfast, and only ever ordered the breakfast burrito (with regular salsa instead of the green salsa,) but that doesn't mean I've never sampled off of my neighbor's plate! Here, you get what you pay for. The prices are fantastic, which means you're not going to be getting served your food on a silver platter, nor are you guaranteed perfectly fast service or fancy tables. However, this place has charm and the food is tasty. You can't beat that when you're looking for a cheap breakfast! You can tell that George's is a staple of the neighborhood by the amount of people that are always in there, enjoying tasty, good priced food throughout the day.

George's will do in a pinch if you have a yearn for a Greek Salad and don't want to get out of your sweatpants. I do love the drive through option. My only complaint on the salad, which is the only thing I've had there, is that their chicken reminds me of the chicken I'd cook myself when I was in college because I didn't know any better and didn't realize chicken could taste like something. It's incredibly dry and lacking in soul. This place doesn't hold a candle to Pete's Greek, salad wise, but again in desperation it tides me over.

A friend took me to lunch yesterday at George's .... I ventured out of my usual territory....it was nice! Pretty much as described by Jason M....seems like a family-owned restaurant. Some Greek foods but the waitperson did not know what Spanakopita was. She did say sometimes they have many Greek specials and that might be one of the dishes they offer. She was nice and helpful and attentive. Prices are on the low side. A complete salmon dinner with vegetable, choice of potato, and salad or soup, and bread was just a little over 8 bucks. Portions were generous and food quality was decent. The restaurant was full of regulars, mostly elders, and people seemed happy with their meals. This is a pleasant, old-fashioned, friendly suburban Greek greasy spoon cafe. I would return if in the area...

Todd and I used to go to George's like once a week because it's a block away, then one day I was like why the heck do we come here? If you look around at the decor- it is coated in black grease dust bunnies. The ceiling tiles are crazy gross/stained... Just old and gross. Omelets come with like a square slice of cheese melted on top. Blah. Blah. I'd rather go to Denny's. The only good part is that the owners daughter is very awkward. I liked when she would wait on us... So weeeeeird!

  • Dan H.

My wife and I frequent George's and it never disappoints. The place is always packed, but we never wait for more than 5 minutes for a table. The owner is usually always up front at the register and the rest of the staff are always on top of it. As for the food...this is the way breakfast is supposed to be. Everything's fresh and they actually use real eggs for scrambling instead of that instant stuff that comes in a milk jug. I would say something about the lunch menu, but I can never resist a good breakfast no matter what time of day it is. I love supporting local ma and pop type places and I'm always delighted to be a patron of George's.

Eeeew, eeeew, eeeew. Just got back from George's and I desperately want a shower. Filthy carpeted floors, greasy-looking 80's decor and a giant Purell dispenser are the main decor. Food was straight out of the freezer and into the fryer. I like a greasy spoon as much as the next girl, but this place is just plain greasy.

  • Dorian H.

I truly adore this place. It's a great place to go for a greasy breakfast or lunch. The owner is usually right at the front greeting and welcoming everyone who comes in. The price is right and the service is fast. It is definitely a local favorite so be prepared to have a minor wait when you visit.

I ate here this summer but forgot to review it. I do remember wanting to rave about how great the food was though, fantastic place for breakfast and recovery the morning after a bachelor party.

Re-Revised 5/10/08 Do you remember your first love and how after all the new-ness of it all wore off you discovered the awful truths? Well it's not quite that bad but I would definitely stick with tried and trues at this g-spoon and not wander too far away from what you know to work (ho-nem-mwot-ho-nai is a very useful chinese saying = good is good enough). For me I would skip the Special Patty Melt (not so special and remember the "where's the beef?" commercial? yep), country fried steak (why don't more g-spoons see the need for actual steak in a dish with it in the title?) and what happened to gyros on the breakfast menu? down to three stars I'm afraid. Revised 12/14/07 Well I've made it back to George's and it's still going to be my go to place in Arvada but I had to take back a star. I tried the Country Fried (Chicken Fried) Steak and sadly it was mystery meat instead of beef put through a tenderizer/chopper. My daughter had a Denver omelette which was nice and fluffy. My only problem was the hash browns this time weren't crispy. I'm sure if you asked for them crispy or "well" they'd do them that way gladly for you but for me a five star greasy spoon would automatically serve them that way every time without asking. The waitresses are very nice, but our waitress spaced our toast and then margerined my "dry" toast, not a biggie and they were slammed so it was alright. Like I said this is still the go to place for me but there are better G-Spoon's. Gyros sandwich, omelettes, breakfast burritos, even steak and eggs are "good enough". Original review: Let's see, this was an el Pollo Loco, then it was a Quizno's, hmm, I think there was another shop or two in this space before too. But I don't recall. George's sign never drew my attention but the increasing number of cars in the lot did (that and Harmony O's review. Thanks). Now finally, there is a great greasy spoon (said lovingly) in Arvada to take the place in our hearts (and stomaches of course) of the old Ralston Road cafe. The portions aren't gargantuan but they're big and tasty too. Tried the Gyros sandwich with rings, steak and egg breakfast (good hash browns), and the chicken pita w/fries so far. Has a bit of the "Pete's" feel to it. Maybe tomorrow I'll try something else :)

Two days into town, we wanted something to eat, something *not* DQ or Taco Bell. Driving down Wadsworth, hoping we would find something, anything, that wasn't a chain, my wife pointed across the driver's seat and yelled "therethereTHERE!!". I had no idea what she was talking about, it all happened so fast, so i naturally assumed we were about to wreck (I was driving, you'd think I was paying better attention). Anyhow, once I veered across two lanes of traffic, did a U-turn at the light, and coaxed my bum to release it's grip on the seat, we were walking into George's, knowing it could go either way. They won us over pretty quickly. We were seated fast, the waitress was really nice and, when we were having hard time deciding what to get, she offered up that they sell alot of Gyro's. Good enough for me. The patrons are obviously regulars, and have been for years, as evidenced by the way the wait staff know everyone's name. It's the kind of place you can just feel is family owned and operated (I honestly don't know this is true, but like to think it is) and, if you came back just one more time, they may surprise you and call you by name. I will definitely be eating a lot of gyro's in the foreseeable future...

Been coming here for years, everything is good on the menu. Great prices, clean and friendly staff. You see the owner on the floor all the time. Very casual little diner

2 stars for the service which was amazing. Food was over cooked and bland. Wife's eggs cooked in oil were so rubbery you could bounce them. My philly steak was super dry, unseasoned and had large chunks of fat. The service, if you like people being friendly, was great. Waitresses and the owner sitting at the tables with customers seems like norm but not my cup of tea.

We thought that since they were always fairly busy, they would have good food. We were incorrect. My husband and I went in for breakfast. I love corned beef hash and eggs, but didn't realize theirs was canned - gross. My husband ordered a chile relleno and eggs - bust didn't realize that the relleno had nacho cheese in the middle. The food wasn't great, service wasn't bad.

I come here on occasion when my boyfriend and overall it's just not that great. I realize this is your basic run of the mill neighborhood diner with crap food and cheap prices. This is so close to us so we always end up coming here when we can't agree on anything. They ALWAYS have a line..which is odd because they just aren't outstanding. Bland and generally lacking spice and flavor, I have come to notice that the majority of who is coming here are older and sorts.. what is it with old people that like bland boring food? The service is generally good but realistically , I can't see myself going out of my way to come here .

Yeah I finished the burger but only cause I'm really high right now but it was gross dry premade patty I had orings also frozen premade and fried mushrooms also frozen the waitress was stupid and didn't even take our drink order just tossed some tap water at us there you go but there is the possibility of redemption for this review I'm told the cinnamon rolls are made here yay! So I ordered my Cinnamon roll and waited with child like anticipation when 6 mins later this stupid fucking waitress comes up and tells me "sorry there out of Cinnamon rolls I'll take it off your ticket" super :( for georges I really wanted to like this place

George's Café is a reliably consistent diner that seems to always be fairly busy on weekend mornings, which says a lot on it's own. The food isn't the best breakfast fare I've seen or had in the area, but it's always good and most of all very convenient. I've probably had a half dozen breakfasts there in the last couple of years, usually trying different things. We were in a couple weeks ago on a Sunday morning, there was a line out the door so we ran a couple of errands and tried back a while later. We came back after a little under an hour, and after a couple minutes were we seated and immediately greeted by a friendly server. I've seen her there before and she seems to know a good portion of the customers so I'm guessing she's been there a while. I got the chicken fried steak with country potatoes and eggs this time around. It was very good, the steak tender and the gravy creamy. I swapped out a biscuit for the toast and would NOT do that again. For some crazy reason (maybe it was stale?) they nuked the biscuit, can we please pass a law against placing bread in a microwave? Great prices for consistently good food, pretty tough combo to beat!

How does this place have three stars?? The food is all out of a can or was previously frozen. It's gross...don't eat here.

Love this place. The wait staff is always friendly. It gets really crowded by around 7:30 on Saturdays, so go early or expect a wait. The food is good, and the prices are very reasonable. Best Belgian waffles I've ever had, and the Virginia ham is wonderful.

Had the special for lunch, pot roast with mashed potatos, veggies, a salad & texas toast. the lettuce was slightly wilted, the potatos were slightly hard, possibly not cooked all the way... There was quiet a few customers eating there, but doubt i'll be back anytime soon...

I've been to George's a couple of times, its always good! I really love the breakfast burrito! They would get 5 stars if their hostess/cashier wore a smile once in awhile. Other than her killing my buzz it's always very good!
