Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Been coming here for years and truthfully I only get the St Louis style pizza. Had their regular pizza's and they are not all that great. Heard that the toasted ravioli is good but haven't tried yet. I do not live close to to this place but its worth the drive for the St Louis Style pizza!

Small place, friendly service and killer St. Louis-style pizza. ...I didn't even realize St. Louis had a pizza! Definitely a fan of the cracker-thin crust and provel. Give it a try if you're in the neighborhood.
(3)Ryan S.
The pizza here is not bad, but everything else is not good. Ordered the wings extra crispy and they got here so soggy and fall off the bone gross like microwaved gross. The ravioli must be frozen 0 taste and no seasoning added the ragu is about as plain tasting as it comes very disappointing

The St Louis Style pizza and the calzones are to die for.

I eat here alot but last night I ordered a large cannoli 1/2 and 1/2 it took an hour and a half to get it to me and it was raw the dough was completely raw throughout as soon as I saw the thing I thought who could of cooked this and not looked at it I mean it was way too light anyway I don't think I'll be ordering from here again as I messaged them about this with no response

There are unquestionably thousands of similar "neighborhood" pizza places in this fair country, and in that regard there's nothing particularly unique about City Pizza & Pasta. Admittedly, I didn't attempt the "St. Louis style pizza" that they apparently are known (by some) for. Brought into City Pizza & Pasta primarily by a mailed coupon for a free medium pizza, I can say the food was pretty much "ehh, not bad." The closest comparison I could think of for their pizza was actually Papa Murphy's, for whatever that's worth. I tried their garlic bread with provel cheese (which I don't think I've ever had before) and it was teetering between interesting and good. All in all, City Pizza & Pasta seems like the type of place one would visit, if they lived nearby and nothing else sounded good for dinner. It's hard to imagine going out of the way to come here.

I'm playing tug of war with my tastebuds and City Pizza's Provel cheese. Not sure what that is, a kind of velvetta white cheese base? But that's what makes this St. Louis Style pizza...don't get me wrong, the first slice..delightful. The second slice...ah, wow...is it expanding inside of me? The third slice...naw, I'll eat just the crust.

We stopped by City Pizza & Pasta for dinner the other night before hitting a concert at the First Bank Center. I'm always on the lookout for a good pizza and I'd read several nice reviews so it was an easy decision to give it a try. After finding a booth a very nice young lady brought us a couple of paper menus and explained that we needed to order at the counter, and then they'd bring it out to us. Not my favorite setup but no biggie. We ordered a couple of beers (pretty decent selection but my Sierra tasted a little out of date - it was poured from a bottle into a glass so not sure about the expiration), a small toasted ravioli (a little on the dry side but not bad at all and a great start to our meal) and the pizza. For the pie we went with the Meat Feast (pepperoni, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, meatball, salami and bacon) on a St Louis thin crust. It was freaking great!! Super thin crust that is cut into squares, with just the right amount of creamy provel cheese. The dining room was clean, and the whole place looked to be run by 3-4 teenagers who were actually working more than messing around. Finding some pretty good kids and giving them training, kudos! The décor includes some cool pictures of Arvada from back in the day, along with some sports type things. I really enjoyed my dinner and will definitely be back!

So, I am a Missouri girl who grew up on St. Louis style pizza. Don't get me wrong, this place is good but it's not Imo's or Stefanina's. HOWEVER - its a damn good second. I was out there for the 3rd time the other night and thought I should at least take the time to right a review because, well, the pizza and toasted ravioli were just delicious! You have to understand that what makes a St. Louis style pizza is the provel cheese and thin crust. I am not quite sure what happens in St. Louis that makes it a little different but it is - however, when we crave it, we had out to City Pizza because its good enough to hold us over until we go home. The staff are incredibly friendly and we always have good service. Mind you, this isn't a fancy-schmancy restaurant. Just a little hole-in-the-wall pizza place but we go for the pizza, not the restaurant. It's always clean and we are always able to get a seat. My recommendation: sausge and onion. Keep it simple so the cheese comes through, And ALWAYS get some toasted ravioli. You are missing out if you don't!

Nothing real special about this place. Tables are small. I found the staff nice, but not overly attentive. We went with a traditional pie, and it was fine. The breadsticks were a kid favorite, despite it being busy, very busy, the food was fast. I brought books/toys for the kids thinking we would need them for this long wait - ordered an appetizer and the wait seemed typical if not a little fast. With so many other options we may come back for the St. Louis style - have never had that.

Dirty place, terrible service and mediocre food. Went at 5pm on a Sunday - we were the only ones there. Most of the tables were filthy and several had dirty dishes piled on them. There were three employees - two high school girls and one guy cooking the pizzas. After he threw our order in the oven to cook, he and one of the girls went out front to smoke (no wonder the parking lot and front door was littered with cigarettes). Food was pretty terrible, though generous portions. I had a meatball cannoli, husband had a calzone, each of our kids had a personal pizza. The sauce tasted like tomato paste straight from a can. Cheese was weird...gooey and sticks to your teeth. Many years ago, this was a different pizza place under a different name & ownership...came frequently when we lived in the area because they had the best cannolis around (yummy sauce & tasty meatballs). Ended up visiting the area and was looking forward to a good meal - sadly, this new place just doesn't come close to filling the shoes of their predecessor. Won't be coming back.

Pizza pretty good service sucks. The people on the phone are immature and distracted. Placed my order for calzones and asked for no onions. What did we receive ... Calzones with onions. I called back and they told me there wasn't onions in them excuse me? I was looking at the calzones and they weren't. The girl on the phone said to me that the cook didn't put onions in the calzones. I was pissed that they were questioning me. Why would I take the time to call and eat a cold calzone if I was wrong. I took them back and they still coped an attitude. I was not taking a chance on them making more cause they were all acting juvenile and I didn't trust that they wouldn't spit in them or something stupid. The were unprofessional and I won't go back.

It isn't exactly IMO's...but close enough! This St. Louis native is thrilled about this place! Please open one in the south suburbs.

I had pizza delivered to the Apex Center in Westminster for my son's birthday party. I was going to just do the chain pizza delivery, but the Apex center suggested this, so I decided to go out on a limb. First of all when we called to place the order they seemed a little scatter brained, the one girl took half the order then another guy took the other half. We mentioned it was a birthday party and that we needed plates and napkins and asked for Parmesan and crushed red pepper. We ordered three extra lathe pizzas. The delivery driver was very friendly and I tipped her very nicely. We went to serve the pizza and they didn't bring anything we asked for. Birthday party with pizza and nothing to eat the pizza on. Children are not very clean either! I called back and the manager said we didn't ask for plates....umm he asked us and we said yes! Then, he chuckled about forgetting to put the Parmesan and peppers . We were on a time schedule, we only had our rented room for a short period for pizza and cake. We had to run to the gas station to get plates and napkins! Now, let me end this by saying I ordered pizza before picking up the cake and was going to get plates at the store I ordered the cake from, but since they offered on the phone, I didn't. Pretty big mistake today for my sons party. Our cold pizza was cold pizza.

I've never had St. Louis style pizza. I went with my native St. Louis friend to check it out. Delicious!!!! I will definitely be back again.
(4)Ingrid S.
I ended up ordering ravioli and when my ravioli came to my I got only a couple pieces, they were cold and stuck together completely. I spoke to the person and they said well the ravioli is suppose to be like that. They gave me more sauce to ravioli, so for now, I just consider them......Ok Only thing I would consider going back for is there meatballs those are at least decent. Ohhh one warning, you will have to wait at least one hour or more for your food no matter the time of day.

As far as St. Louis Style pizza is concerned this is the closest you can get in Colorado. The cracker thin crust was perfect, and the cheese had the perfect tang and melt that one would expect. It was a very nice surprise to find in Arvada of all places, and even though I will not be able to get there regularly if in the area I would stop by again and try various other menu items like the toasted ravioli.

The perfect Saint Louis day: a Cards game, Imo's, and some Ted Drew's. I haven't had one of these for about 9 years now, but City Pizza makes Denver feel a bit more like my hometown with their authentic, *delicious* Saint Louis style pizza and toasted ravioli. I was honestly shocked to find my favorite pizza available outside of Missouri! Very thankful for these fellow St. Louis transplants that make a different city feel a bit more familiar. Go Cards!
(5)Frank P.
Colorado's answer to Imos Pizza! Even better in my opinion. Always comes out hot and customer service is great and everyone is very friendly! Have been there 4 times so far this year, and drive 40 minutes to eat here if that gives you an idea of the quality of food. if you are not from Saint Louis then this might not be the place for you as their signature "St Louis Style" is thin crust. I haven't had their other variety styles, but this is and always will be my favorite dining spot in Colorado as far as pizza goes.
(5)Ashley W.
Good but not great italian. I usually just buy dough from them and make my own pizza.
(3)MJ M.
I'll start by saying the food here is great. Unfortunately the service is awful. Terribly inconsistent and very rude. We do delivery and you never really know what might show up. Sometimes drinks come with the lunch special, sometimes not. Sometimes we get iced tea in a soup container. Keep up the good food but until service improves I'll be spending my money somewhere else.

Thin crust, just like they do in St. Louis. I went to college outside of St. Louis and then lived there for 4 years before moving to Denver. I grew up in Kansas City and had never heard of St. Louis style pizza. However, while living in STL, I fell in love with the thin crust. Not to mention the T-Rav (toasted ravioli). City Pizza is a very close approximation with the cheese and the crust, but doesn't quite meet Imo's standards. Every time I travel back to STL, pizza is in order. Be sure to order enough, with the thin crust two people can easily take care of a large. Plus, the leftovers are to excellent as well! I have been to City Pizza a handful of times and will be going back. Provel cheese is awesome!!
(4)Robin H.
I drove all the way from the Stapleton area to Arvada to check out their St Louis style pizza and would say it was worth it. I wasn't impressed with the crust but the provel cheese was spot on. I can see an occasional drive in the future to feed my addiction.
(4)Maria G.
I've been away from St. Louis for years, having to make do with making everything from scratch (and, at one point, having to recreate Provel cheese while living out of the country and under awful import restrictions). This place served up some kickass pizza. Their toasted ravioli was good, but I prefer them served up with meat sauce, instead of marinara. But, that's me. St. Louis-style pizza is polarizing. Keep this in mind. It must be tried out at some point in your life. You will either love it or hate it. This stuff is delicious. And, I know where we're going for date night for the next five years. Also, remember to let the pizza cool before biting into it. Provel isn't known as napalm cheese for nothing.

I ordered my food at 5:48 pm thinking it would be enough time for me to eat and go to work. It is now 7:27 and I still haven't received my food yet. I haven't ever eaten at City Pizza before, but the fact that I'm late for work because I'm waiting for pizza is pretty ridiculous, and I don't know if it's worth it.
(1)Mary M.
UHHHHHHHHH... Regard ALL FIVE STAR REVIEWS for this place with great suspicion, as their website openly bribes people with discounts if they print out their favorable YELP review and bring it in.
(1)Jaromir B.
Some of the best pizza in the Arvada area. Their St. Louis style pizza is great (although not necessarily for everyone), and their "regular" pizza is absolutely fantastic. Great crust, awesome sauce and everything else excels, as well. Highly recommended!
(5)J M.
Our takeout order took FOREVER - like 30 minutes - and when we got home, it was the worst pizza I'd ever had. We had one plain cheese, and one ham and pineapple, and they were both greasy and pretty all-around awful. I'll never go back.
(1)Doug Y.
I really wish that this place was better than it turned out to be because I live very close by. My expectations weren't set too high because I went in expecting to not be wowed because there wasn't ever a bunch of cars in the lot or lines out the door. Prices were a little higher than I expected. We ordered a large margherita pizza that was $18.00. When the pizza finally came out, it was a very, very thin cracker type crust (ever had woolworth's pizza? Yeah, very close.) that was sooo thin I ate half of a pie. I usually can manage a couple maybe three slices of anyone else's pie. The toppings were okay and it wasn't overkill on the toppings by any means. There were five... people working in this tiny 9 table spot and all were pleasant but I think the problem was that if you added up all their ages, it'd have to total less than 90. The manager had to be high school or "just out of" age too. Now age alone would not be a problem but 4 of the 5 were young women. Cute young women, all but one with the same hairstyle. A hairstyle with long bangs. Bangs that constantly fell in their faces and needed to be pushed out of their faces with bare hands. The same bare hands that made the pizza, swept and mopped, and served our food. Just for grins, after I noticed and watched it happen a few times I counted the number of times it happened again. At first I thought, no problem. I figured a hot oven should kill anything that they're adding to the pie but as I ate my just okay pizza, it did start to wear on me a bit. It was 23 times btw.

Ordered from here not too long ago. The lady who took my order was pretty nice, but my compliments end there. We ordered a ton of food and hardly any of it was worth a second glance. I will say that the meatballs are pretty good and the sauce is passable, but that's about it. My ravioli was soggy and stuck together and the filling was grainy/gritty and totally without flavor (ever hear of salt?), all of the garlic and cheese bread was soggy (we cooked it a little more under our broiler and that helped a little) and flavorless (again salt?), my son's penne didn't seem to be homemade (can't remember if they claim that to be so or if it's just the spaghetti/fettucine), the toasted ravioli was nothing to write home about (again)and the cheesecakes were nasty. I was so disappointed. The saddest part? This is the second time I've ordered and the first time was a similar experience. Just not for me I guess which is so sad, because I live very close to them and I believe in mom and pop places. Come on guys, please make this place worth supporting!
(2)Rob W.
So glad I found this place. I've been dying for some St. Louis style since I moved here. Now I know where to go. Great pizza, reasonable prices, friendly staff. The garlic cheese bread is off the charts. The pizza is perfect, cracker thin crust, rich provel cheese, slightly sweet sauce...great stuff. Hope they open a shop on the south side!
(5)J L.
I saw this place on restaurant.com and decided to give it a try, based on the reviews here on yelp I tried both the St. Louis style pizza, and the toasted ravioli and both were very good. I hadn't ever had either previously and was pleasantly surprised with both, the cheese on the pizza is very different has a very distinct strong flavor and it was delicious. The toasted ravioli was a great appetizer it is definitely something I'll order again.
(4)Jackie G.
I didn't care for the pizza. The crust reminded me of cardboard. Service was fine, but the pasta was better than the pizza. My hubby liked his calzone.
(3)Travis M.
Not quite as good as St Louis but certainly better than the majority of Denver pizza places. Was a little disappointed that the Bacon didn't come in big strips, but they do have toasted ravs so I'll let it slide. Here's to St. Louis style pizza!!
(4)Mike K.
I've lived in Arvada for several years now and knew about City Pizza and finally was able to stop in to give it a shot. I was very impressed! Being originally from St. Louis, and knowing the owner is also from STL, I was expecting some more STL memorabilia hanging around. But it was good to see support of our local schools and pro sports teams. The St. Louis style pizza is modeled after the popular Imo's Pizza chain. They are known for their very thin crust and square cuts. Their cheese is absolutely amazing and the pizza was just as good as Imo's. I prefer a thick crust any day, but this one is an exception for me. One thing that City Pizza really needs to advertise harder is their toasted ravioli. I've lived in the Denver area for 17 1/2 years and been to many Italian restaurants and I always get a "what are you talking about" look when I ask if they have toasted ravioli. Folks, this is the ONLY restaurant in the entire Denver Metro area (that I know of) that has toasted ravioli. And of course, it is really good! An order of ten just might not be enough! Even if you don't live in Arvada, a trip to CP&P is well worth it. There is very limited seating inside so it's rather cozy and intimate. If you ask nicely they might even turn on the LCD TV they just got; especially if a baseball game happens to be on! So get to CP&P, support local small business, and get quality pizza and toasted ravioli in return for a reasonable price.
(5)Jon N.
Cardboard pizza with sauce that tastes straight from a can.
(1)Sho G.
This place specializes in St. Louis style pizza. I've never had this style of pizza but it is delicious. If you go here you should definitely check it out. They also have toasted ravioli which is also from St. Louis and hard to find out here in Denver. They also serve buckets of pasta (literally) which was fun. If you are looking to try out a new style of pizza or get some good Italian food then check out this hole in the wall place because you won't be disappointed. Its a shame its so far north otherwise I would frequent the place more often.
(5)Lisa G.
Been coming here for years -- I was reminded of this when I called in a take-out order tonight and the number came up as "Jerry's Pizza" on my phone. I hear their St. Louis-style pies are first rate, but City Pizza passes this East Coast girl's pizza quality test too. Chewy thin crust, tasty red sauce (unsweet, with oregano), quality cheese and a good balance of ingredients. Not too doughy, not too cheesy. New owners have spruced up the dining room, or you can grab a take-out pizza and a cold six-pack from the equally friendly folks at Two Ponds Wine & Spirits next door. I live five minutes away and I love supporting my neighborhood merchants.
