Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

If you're looking for a great home cooked Mexican meal you've come to the right place! Everything tastes home cooked, authentic, and made with love. The asada plate was delicious and the meat tasted like it had been marinated since it had so much flavor. The taquitos taste like they're from home fresh and crunchy. The enchiladas are cheeesy and the rice is nice and fluffy. The flan is to die for very sweet and creamy as well as the arroz con leche. I will definitely be coming here more often.

Really good quality, authentic Mexican food! Taste just like abuelita's cooking. Really great flavorful food worth the long wait time. If you have time to kill, check it out.

Decided to try something new tonight. Sooooo glad I did. I actually liked everything about this little place. The food was fantastic, the service was super friendly with the chef and other staff members stopping by to greet me and my kids. Our waitress was a standout as well, really attentive and friendly. So what did I try? Simply the best Queso Fundido I've had in a long, long time. The chorizo wasn't some store bought mystery meat in a red tube. This was the REAL DEAL. So tasty and served with FRESH FLUFFY HANDMADE TORTILLAS!!!!!!. I also added an Al Pastor taco a la cart. WOW so flavorful. Homemade marinade too, I could tell. The chile that is served with the chips is super awesome too. It reminded me of a chile my mom used to make. Our waitress hooked us up with a nice side of that liquid gold to go! The Kids loved their asada tacos and bunuelos and ice cream...a win for everyone. See you next week Santi!

Place is tough to locate because a tree is blocking their sign. But it's right after the Meat Market on the opposite side of the street. There is a tiny parking lot that can fit maybe 5+ cars. Otherwise you can park on the street. Typical Mexican style decor. They have inspirational messages on the wall along with large tapestry. Super hot and delicious salsa. Fuego fuego for sure. I had a few asada tacos since I wasn't too hungry and it was great. Lots of meat unlike most places.

This was my go-to place for a bean and cheese burrito because the red salsa is amazing, but the last couple of times they charged me $1 if I asked for a larger container of salsa. This is BS because I'm getting like 12 tacos, a quesadilla, and my burrito, but for some reason they think I'm gonna manage with a small container of salsa. The last straw was when my husband was charged $17.47 because, according to lady, I had gone the previous week and my card didn't charge. What the?! I checked my bank account and called them to clarify error. The girl I spoke to was apologetic, it was another Marisol who hadn't paid she said. Whatever, I wasn't mad. What got me mad was that I decided to just place order instead of just picking up cash. When I got there, they were charging me an extra $1 for the rice in my burrito even though they never charged me before. The lady was looking to even charge $1 for small ass salsa container. Penny pinching... she made it seem like I was ripping them off. I'm disappointed. I was hoping they would do well, not anymore. I'll find a better spot. (2 stars anyway: one for taco tuesday and the other star for the salsa.)

My 4 is based on both the customer service and the food. Jessica at the front was so sweet such a welcoming person. Being it was my 1st time she recommend the melon agua fresca. On this scorcher of a day it was so refreshing. I even got to sample a salsa creation while I waited for my food. I will definitely return to this restaurant! My rice was spot on not over done dry or soupy. Beans not bad and my taquitos crispy and had the works.
(4)Israel S.
First time here, small place and only one server but she was very polite and attentive. She constantly refilled our drinks and chips which kept me from noticing how long my food took (which was not too long). I had the huevos con nopales and they were great. Definitely will return to this little spot!

Yummy. My boyfriend and I order food to go from Santi's pretty frequently. We hunted around the Whittier area for quite a long time trying to find the best shredded beef tacos (for my boyfriend) and beef taquitos (for me). A lot of places were pretty disappointing. Santi's is delicious; even the rice and beans are better than most other places I have been. The only complaint I have is that sometimes they forget the guacamole. I freakin love guacamole and at least three times I have arrived home to find no guacamole with my taquitos (it is stated on the menu that the guacamole comes with). Luckily, two of the three times I happened to have an avocado and I improvised by smashing an avocado up with some of their yummy salsa and a little salt. Works, but I'd prefer not to have to make my own. Really, this is the only reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5. And considering how much I love guacamole (the subject has consumed half my review so far), it would be only 3 stars if they weren't so damn yummy. I noticed another reviewer mentioned being asked to leave a yelp review for a discount, I have been here many times and have been going for quite a while now and have never had anyone offer anything like that. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Plain and simple.. this is the best Mexican restaurant in all of Whittier ..I've lived in Whittier for about 10 years now so I can say that .. Mr giant can suck the cheese of my skillet...perhaps I'm going over board but I'm extremely happy I know this place is near me ..I plan on eating here once a week..
(5)Jaime S.
Just visited the new Santi on Whittier blvd, same great food but now there is room to breath
(5)Kino M.
Very relax and enjoyable ambience. Food is great and authentic Mexican. Service is top notch.
(4)Oscar G.
JUST A HEADS UP....I was told by the waiter if I check into YELP and give a good review while I'm there, I will get a percentage off my meal. I told them I didn't have a yelp account because I think it's wrong to give fake ratings! SO...I would take some of these 5 star reviews on here with a grain of salt. My honest review: This place is more of a mexican "cuisine" style place. More on the trendy side than a traditional hard nosed mexican place. Think more like "bobby flay" wannabe style mexican food with pureeds, squeeze bottles and empanada style tacos. Also everything has way too much GARLIC. The salsa has too much garlic, the food has too much garlic. Everything tasted overwhelmed with GARLIC. Even the waiter when they took my order, SMELLED LIKE GARLIC! Sorry just not my style of mexican food.

This place is small and a true hidden gem. The food is flavorful and delicious. We have been here a few times and hasn't disappointed us yet. We will keep on stopping by whenever we are on this side of town.
(5)Bill P.
The food was good. I had enchiladas and the Mrs had taquitos. Both were good and had a unique presentation. The service wasn't so good. We were the only diners at 7 on a thursday night. Our waitress seemed to have more important things to do in the back than to help us. The dining area is small and not very appealing so we might just do carry out if we come back. But we probably won't be back. Not a lot goig for the place.
(3)Jasmine E.
So me and my boyfriend were starving and we we're looking forward to some Great Mexican food. This place said it closes at 9PM so we drove all the way there to find the door locked at 830 pm , with people inside eating and the people working there ignoring us while we kept knocking on the door. We are very disappointed !
(1)Cesar V.
We ordered the chilaquiles with eggs and the chile verde plate. Very authentic and full of flavor. The chile verde tastes homemade and was spicy. I love that they use queso fresco instead of American cheese. The location is small. There was one waitress who was working this Saturday morning. She did a great job taking care of us and the other patrons. Authenticity, service and price were excellent!
(5)Stephen B.
Carne asada plate con nopal es necesitan! Cheese enchiladas are gooey with cheese and best enjoyed with the salsa roja....unless you prefer verde cause they is both dang diddly delicious. 6 and 3 year old daughters shared the bean and cheese burrito (its adult size for $2.50), with leftovers. The reason I picked loud for the noise level was because they were preparing some kind of sauce (I'm guessing here) in a blender and FRESH food is just fine with me and my family. Fresh food with friendly, timely service is always a winning recipe. Do I know them? No but look forward to getting to. BTW, masa tortillas a mano KICK BOOTY!!!!
(4)Bella C.
They moved to Whittier Blvd! Still delicious right around Party City. The chef and staff are the same you will love this authentic Mexican restaurant I was born in Mexico and always get disappointed with americanized yellow melted cheese plates. Not here! its legit and delicious!
(5)Esbeida G.
Great Food!!! BUT too small of a spot ... You wait to be seated thy can at least offer you water or chips while you wait and watch everyone eat. Waitress should be more hospitable and greet you and let you know , instead your waiting at the door like a lost puppy . GET A BIGGER PLACE and have your waitress get some training on greeting clients . Again FOOD AMAZING!!!!!!!
(3)Vanessa A.
Hidden in Whittier.... Mexican place I have been trying so hard to find. Thank you yelp for showing me the way!!! Everything was AMAZING. great food and great matching prices.
(5)Jennifer P.
Nice small place, GREAT food. Only complaint is the service gets a bit slow when they are busy, but the food is worth the wait. Will be going back often!!
(4)R L.
This location has moved, new name but same great taste! La Casa Del Cosinero on Whittier Blvd. off between Ocean View and Catalina
(5)Joe G.
I heard about this place from a few different people. Since I've been in my own little search for the best Mexican food in LA I decided to try this place out. I'm glad I did. The food is delicious! The fresh handmade corn tortillas are sooo good! The chef here really knows what he's doing. The food took kind of long to come out but that didn't matter much to me because the food was that good. I had the queso fundido w/chorizo to start as an appetizer. It was soo damn delicious especially with the freshly made handmade corn tortillas. Then I had the fajitas(shrimp & chicken). They have either steak or chicken on the menu or you can get both if you'd like. I asked for steak and shrimp. Since they happened to have shrimp they were happy to oblige my request. When they served me it was chicken and shrimp. I didn't say anything at the time because I really didn't want to wait for them to redo my order plus I tasted it and it was really good. I also asked for all beans no rice. I had to ask for it and when they finally brought it, it was beans and rice. This place has really good food for a good price but has room for improvement in getting the food out right away and getting the order correct. If they can improve on that, they'd have a nice little gem here. From what I understand is, that this place has only been open for a year. I can see this place doing really well if they improve on the service. I will definitely be back sometime very soon. I will probably become a regular here. It's that good! If I have a better experience next time, I will change my review to 5 stars.

Born and raised in Mexico and now living in Los Angeles if there is one thing I miss it's the true authentic flavors of Mexican food. Living here for over 20 years finding a decent restaurant to satisfy my craving has been difficult until I came across Santi's Mexican Grill. This restaurant has exceeded my expectations in every way. His salsas, which are freshly made with his signature twist, are to die for! I am a personal fan of the molcajete. However no matter what you order you won't be disappointed. The entire staff are so friendly an accommodating making you feel right at home. The overall ambiance is kind and inviting while the delicious scents cooking in the kitchen fill the air. If you have yet to visit it is a MUST!!!!!
(5)Adriana M.
A great little hole in the wall place with pretty yummy Mexican fare. Service was fast and friendly and I really enjoyed my chicken salad and they hubs loved his cosido. Parking is a tiny little lot next to the building or street parking, but it was not a busy night so finding it was not a problem. The prices are excellent and you get a good portion. Too bad they don't serve any liquor, even just beer would have been a nice touch. We will definitely be back though to try more of their menu items.
(4)Ray M.
Want to let all Santi vistors know you can get a 1/2 price coupon on restaurant.com . Must spend $20 to get $10 dollars off. Just check restaurant.com periodically until they have the coupon for $2.
(5)Manuel R.
Found this place base on reviews. Customer service was fine. Food, ordered "huevos rancheros" good size plate, liked the tomato sauce and peppers with beans...small place with good food overall.
(4)Connie G.
I honestly don't recommend this place especially if the place is supposed to close at 9 but ends up closing the kitchen at 8:30. Next time put a sign informing people. The waitress is not very nice.
(1)Joshua S.
IMO its one of the better Mexican food places in Whittier, Parking sucks and it's a shame people always tag on the sign but it's more than worth stopping by.
(4)D V.
First of all, don't be fooled by the appearance , it's pretty small & easy to pass (across the street from lascaris). We ordered 3 items, first is the tacos, the carne asada was great, nice & tender. The carnitas were flavorful, made just right. The 2nd items was a bowl menudo. My wife said it was GREAT! They put a lot of hominy so if that's your thing than you'll like it. Now to my plate, I got the chilaquiles of red salsa. I asked them to put carne asada on them, that made them waaaay better. The only con is they don't sell beer (but they let you bring your own).
(5)Cindy S.
I just love this place . simply delish . I wanted to lick the plate . And very friendly service . I sooooooo recommend this place . Thank u Santi's
(5)Estuardo I.
Best Mexican food in Whittier. If you love authentic Mexican food from Jalisco you will absolutely love it. The food taste great and is very authentic. My family and I eat there at least once a week. I have ordered most of the items on the menu and have never been disappointed.
(5)Darlene E.
First time eating here and the food is soooooo delicious, all homemade Mexican food.... Delicious!!!!
(5)Sara A.
Santi's is a work in progress. This little place has potential but needs a little work to become a place that keeps me coming back. I had the combination fajitas (chicken and steak) and as an appetizer I had the queso fundido. The questo fundido was delicious and went beautifully with the homemade corn tortillas. The fajitas, however, were a bit on the salty side. The spices used to season the fajitas overpowered this seemingly hard to mess up dish. The service was ok considering there was only one server on a Friday night. The place is small so I get only having one server but as they get more business it'd be wise to get more help. All in all, I'll probably go to Santi's again in the future to see how they've improved.
(3)David M.
This place deserves to be noticed. It's an adorable hole in the wall place; the staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is great, and the food is delicious! A great local find.
(5)Susan C.
This restaurant is fantastic. I went the first time about 3 months ago because I bought a Groupon. The food was great. I came home and bought the maximum number of Groupons I could so my family could go back a few more times with the discount. The prices are very good so going without one does not dig deep into the pocket. It is family run so there are only a few people working, so be patient. We ate there again this morning and it was wonderful. They prepare your food the way you want it done. They even make thinks that are not on the menu (like the chicken Flautas). Come early because they do sell out of some of their favorites. But one thing for sure, you will enjoy everything you order. And don't forget about the homemade corn tortillas.

Stopped by here a little before 4 pm. The restaurant is located directly across the street from Lascari's. It's a small place that seats around 24 people. At this time of the day, it was pretty dead, with only 2 people finishing up their food when I walked in. I decided to go with the 3 taco plate. The girl at the cash register was very friendly, letting me choose my salsa for the tacos, and decide between hand made or regular tortillas. I ended up getting carnitas and asada tacos with hand made tortillas and red salsa. I took my order to go, and dug in at home. I'd have to say, I thought the food was just average. The meat was typical of what you could get at most little mexican restaurants like this. The asada meat was a little dry and bland for my taste. The rice was good, but the beans seemed to have a sweet, almost fruity flavor to them, which I didn't much care for. However, the salsa and tortillas were pretty good. The tortillas were soft, and the salsa was the perfect level of spicy. All in all, the food was ok, but I'd definitely go back and try more. Their menu, at first glance, looks fairly simple. The lack of extensive options makes it much easier to choose a dish, and they serve breakfast all day. As I said before, the staff is very friendly, and the inside decor is very attractive--not what you'd expect from looking at the outside of the restaurant. The one major drawback of this place is the parking. There is only one tiny lot dedicated to this place, and I'm not even sure if it's technically okay to park there (there were faded no parking signs). Minus the spot with a trailer bed parked in it, there were four other regular spots, and a handicapped space. The lot on the other side of the restaurant is for the business next door only. You could try parking in the small lot across the street, but they might have rules there too.
(3)Jose G.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The place is squeaky clean and well decorated. The food!!! Delicious. Our family has found a new place to regular. Try this place out you will not be disappointed. This place was amazing it was extremely creative! Chairs were dope! Sopas were mouth watering
(5)J L.
Says open till 9pm but just came by and the host did not serve us. She told us the cook takes the last order at 8pm then leaves. This will be my first and last time here.
(1)Vu C.
I've been there many times since my last post and my experience is always great. Great food and service. They do it a little different from everyone and it's usually for the better. The newest dish I've tried are the nachos. I got it with carne asada. Seriously, best nachos around and I've tried many. I've even tried the nachos at Casa Garcia in Pico Rivera and they don't compare. They also fill the to-go container (I usually get my stuff to go) to the top with nachos. My girlfriend and I usually will eat nachos together. It's too much for one. Anyways, keep up the good work Santa and family!
(5)Andrea F.
Best Mexican food around. Everything is fresh and made to order. If you're looking for a "fast food" place, this isn't the place. Again, everything is made FRESH, which means dishes take a little longer to cook. We've become addicted to this place for some reason lol. It's probably the family atmosphere that goes along with the delicious food. Their chicken salad is to die for, as are the tacos (especially taco Tuesday). Their freshly made aguas are out of this world. Their guacamole is also freshly made, and is really good! Since coming here there isn't a bad thing I can say about this place. I've recommended all my friends and family, who are now also addicted lol. We usually come in about 2-3 times a week, yes it's that good. We will definitely be loyal customers for years and years to come!!
(5)Karen B.
Just tried to go there for the first time and they were closed. Three employees were inside talking, and didn't even look at us when we tried to open the door. It's 7:45 on a Wednesday night. Posted closing hour is 9:00. We were looking forward to it because of the good reviews, but we won't be back.
(1)Kevin F.
We love this place especially the hand made tortillas. We come here 2 times a week it feela like. Tthe food is sooooooo good.
(5)Virginia E.
I bought a $20 for $40 groupon. Visited restaurant with niece and nephew and barely consumed $20. Food prices are very very reasonable, the customer service was great, and the food was very good. I loved the intimacy of the place. No alcohol on menu though.
(4)Mark B.
Wow! This place is awesome. Taco Tuesday was a treat to say the least. Queso Chorizo with homemade corn tortillas was exceptional. Try the agua fresca....today was cantelope and it was delicious.
(5)Janice K.
Service is horrible. Ordered food and drinks at the same time. Had to ask for my husbands drink. Had to ask for silverware. The salsa was really hot, not only for the chips but on the tacos. Ordered soup (came with tortillas) they never came out had to ask for them. It was not busy in the restaurant. After getting food and eating the server didn't ever come back. Needed to get up and ask for the check. Rice and beans cold. We wanted dessert, but did not feel like waiting forever. The cook had to wait on our table. Zero attention to detail. I will not come back.
(1)John Z.
Prolly could've been better, but satisfactory nevertheless.
(3)Judith R.
The kids loved the nachos and we loved the homemade tortillas to go along with our Chile Verde! The prices were very reasonable. Have to come back on a Friday to check out their ceviche!
(5)andrew l.
Great hole in the wall spot! You can tell a lot about a Mexican joint by there salsa!! Salsa was excellent fresh melon water was very refreshing! Carne Asada tacos were very good! Def come back again.
(5)Ceci G.
Excellent!!! Menudo is great nice and clean. Chilaquiles are amazing and chile verde is really good!
(5)Kelli M.
this place is great... food is DELICIOUS! I"m a huge fan of Cilantro's Taco's in Whittier, but i think i may be a bigger fan of Santi's. Last night we tried their street taco's and let me tell you... SO GOOD! the meat was so fresh and flavorful ...we also tried the Sope's and they are the best i've had. And that' not all..we also tried their taquito's and they were also delicious. I"m a huge beans and rice person, so if that' not good, i generally don't like to go back.... thank goodness that was good too. TWO THUMBS UP for Santi's
(5)Jorge R.
Everytime i go to this place im very impress, Santiago is an awsome Chef! He puts lots of care n love in everything he cooks, BEST menudo hands down in Whittier! Keep up the good work!
(5)Lorena R.
Great food but the wait was a little too long. I had the sopes and they were Delish! My husband had the chilaquiles and they were spicy, but great, and not soggy, had some crunch to it.
(3)Eileen M.
Looovve this place. I was just complaining to my friends that there is no good Mexican food in Whittier. I stand corrected! This place has authentic mexican food. The plates are rich in flavor and prices are very reasonable for the amount that they give you. We tried the Chile Verde Burrito Mojado and it was delish! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Try it out!
(5)Y J.
Tried this place for the first time last week with a groupon, it's a family business and it seems like they are still trying to iron out some wrinkles BUT I give them an A for effort. The young girl who is the server does a great job, very sweet, the food did not disappoint and most importantly it's inexpensive . We will definitely go back.
(4)Travis S.
Never disappointed. Great flavors in every dish. High end taste in a small hole in the wall. We are always greeted with a smile and Santi himself often comes out to greet all his guests. Dine in or to go. Taco Tuesday's and mole wed. I could go on for days. But you get the idea.
(5)Kristin M.
Its a new business so that's why I'm being lenient. The food is just mediocre and the service is terrible. My mom and I decided to have a last minute lunch and we were driving by so we stopped. At entering we were told to have a seat so we choose a table. We waited about 5 minutes for the waitress just to bring us menus. When she brought them she just dropped them off and left without asking us if we wanted anything to drink and didn't even give us a chance to ask before walking away. When the waitress came back to take our order, which was about 10 minutes later, she still didn't ask us what we wanted to drink and was about to walk away so we had to stop her and tell her. All we ordered was a torta and 2 sopes. It took about 30 minutes for the food to come and it was very disappointing, the food was bland and flavorless. After we finished eating we sat there another 10 minutes waiting for the check which she never brought. We finally just decided to go up to counter and pay. Prices were average and and the restaurant was very clean. Overall it wasn't a good experience and we will not be going back.
(2)Heidi P.
So happy I found this little gem! I was craving a Mexican breakfast and boy did this do it for me! They have homemade tortillas and they make their own chorizo!!! The green chorizo is absolutely AMAZING. It's hard to be impressed when one is used to great home cooking from a Latina mom, but Santi's does it for me! The service was awesome, super friendly and attentive...definitely going back and HIGHLY recommend!
(5)Luisa G.
The waitress was really nice. Had a homey type of vibe. Tried the deep fried quesadilla which was amazing! Great place! Highly recommend!
(5)Vanessa C.
My sister told me about this place and she had said "I wish we would of known about it sooner" with that said I tried it right away and yup the food is great. Finally great Mexican food in Whittier! I got the red cheese enchiladas....yummy!
(5)Mike B.
Very good. My son is difficult to impress and he is a fan. The rice, beans, salsa and chips all homemade. I had chicken breast. Prepared very simply but tasty and tender. We will be back for sure.
(4)Flores J.
I understand my last name is FLORES.....but I don't care for Mexican food, it's actually one of my least favorite foods.......BUT!!!!! I REALLY ENJOYED SANTI'S.....the Hard tacos looked a little different, and lo, they tasted a little different, as in GREAT! The beans were authentic and tasty, the rice was yummy. My husband had the Carnitas plate and he loved it.....then, for dessert we had a SOPE.....ummmmm, YUM! I would definitely recommend this little gem of a mexican restaurant
(5)Steve G.
Sorry Santi. . . Love you're Menudo but after asking you for less hominy more soup for the THIRD time. We have to say our good byes. . With a bad hangover like we had, it's definitely a no no! Good flavor but just TOO MUCH HOMINY!! We're going to have to make the drive somewhere else. Thanks good luck. . and remember LISTEN TO YOU'RE PAYING CUSTOMERS.
(2)J P.
I'm very glad that Santiago took his talents and cooking/grilling skills public and opened their restaurant. I'm a food critic and am pleased to frequent the establishment. If you like Carne Asada, You need to try it from here, Steakhouse Presentation, Taste and Quality, the Asada will arrive with a Diamond or Checkered pattern as it would at a High end steakhouse and with an Aroma that is very intoxicating. It's a HIT!!! Joe...
(5)Daniel G.
The food is very delicious. I love everything I have ordered so far. It's a nice alternative to going to the big chain restaurants. You must try it and see for yourself.
(5)Sharlene A.
I found this hole in the wall on yelp! Amazing!! My family and I enjoy supporting new business especially when they take pride in what they are doing. The food is amazing, the owner comes out to personally to check your meal is perfect and the ambiance is really nice. Im on a personally mission to try everything on the menu. I've has about 6 different entrees of the menu and have been extremely satisfied with them all. Really good food.
(5)Harold P.
Delicious! This review is for take out. I have no idea how the dining experience is there, but if it is any indication, the lady at the register was quite nice Normally I wouldn't review a place on just one visit, but I'd like this place to get more reviews and guests as I think it is quite good and they deserve it. On to the food: - Al pastor taco had quite a bit of meat! Significantly more meat than average. The flavor was very distinct, somewhat unique, but still the clear 'al pastor' flavor. Very good in my book. My only complaint is that it was a bit too salty. Otherwise, great! Also, for the price, it is a steal. - Carne asada torta was also quite good. It had a very homemade touch. The bread was nicely toasted, yet still soft on the inside -- usually a good start on a torta. All the other ingredients were good and in order. Here, my only complaints are that the bean to meat ratio was a bit too high. I would have preferred a little less beans, more meat, and I'm pretty sure the taco had more meat than the torta. Still, the flavor was superb. - Take out was very nicely packaged and made it home all the way to La Mirada (I can't say how many times I got take out tacos and they're a total mess when I got home). Parking: As others mentioned, I can certainly see parking being tricky during the day if the nearby businesses are crowded, but when I showed up it wasn't a problem. The state farm west of Santi's has a "no parking during normal business hours sign", so I imagine during the weekend that is fair game. There are several spots there. Conclusion: I will certainly be back, quite possibly upgrading my review to a 5 in the future.

We absolutely love it here! I have too many favorites to count! Breakfast: huevos con nopales. Lunch: chicken salad with cilantro dressing and tostadas de ceviche. Dinner: any burrito or taco plate!

I love this place! It's a great little family-owned restaurant with the man Santiago himself in the kitchen, I've never seen anyone else cooking whenever I go in there. I took my aunt once for lunch and she loved the burrito. My mom LOVES the chilaquiles, and I personally love the Tortas with some carnitas and avocado! Sooo good! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for delicious Mexican food.

This place not only do they have great food but the service is great. Very friendly people, not to say I love the decoration. We tried the tacos and chile verde plate with fresh made tortillas, it was delicious! I recommend this place.

Best freshly home made Mexican food in Whittier, Fresh hand made corn tortillas, fresh water of the day(except Sundays) . Came in on a Tuesday they had a cactus, pineapple, and chia seed fresh water of the day. It was really good.

Been to Santi's a few times and I love the chicken enchiladas! The enchiladas are not very large and have a great red chile sauce. The chicken is tender and not dried out. However, if you are like me and don't care for sour cream, make sure to tell them no SOUR CREAM! I forgot once and they saturated my enchiladas with it. Overall, a great small place to have very good Mexican food.

Staff is very nice but not my type of Mexican food. I am a big carnitas lover so I ordered a carnitas burrito. Sorry to say it did not meet my expectations. The carnitas did not look lie the type of carnitas I am used to. My wife ordered chicken sopes, the sopes are not the type she is used to. Not trying to be to picky but being Mexican, you know after the first bite if your going to enjoy your meal.

I learned of this place from a friend and was in the area so I decided to give it a try. It's small and intimate with cute mexican interior decor. We ordered taco's which were amazing and tasted just like I was in Mexico. Everything tasted fresh and very flavorful. The service was awesome and the owner was there making sure we enjoyed every minute of our dining experience. We will definitely go back the next time we are in Whittier.

I highly recommend Santi's Mexican Grill. The food was simply amazing! I had two asada sopes, and they were delicious. Great authentic taste and generous portions. My son, who is a picky eater, said "I can't wait to go back but on an emptier stomach". Do yourself a favor and give them a try. I'm sure you won't regret it.

First time there today and my family and I will definitely return. The food was great especially the Queso Fundido. I recommend you get there early because the space is small and parking is a little difficult but well worth every penny.

First time there, tried the carne en su jugo, with handmade corn tortillas (yum!)...it was delicious! For being a "cup" the size was great and it came with fresh cilantro, onions, and limes. I will definitely be ordering this again! Well, I also wanted to try the chorizo breakfast burrito, so at $5, I went ahead and ordered one. I was already full, but still managed to bite off about a quarter, and packed the rest to go. Well, the in-house-made chorizo, is soooo worth a try! It has wonderful spice, and meatiness. The burrito was a perfect balance of chorizo, beans and cheese! I was a very happy camper! The husband, had the green chilaquiles, and he added chopped carne asada to them, and nixed the egg. He was very pleased with the excellent taste of the sauce. If you like yours with some crunch, you will love these!! They come topped with crumbled cheese and a drizzle of mexican crema. We are always happy to find and support new local spots, especially when the food is this great. It was nice to talk to the chef, and learn a little about his food history. The carne en su jugo is a recipe that goes back to his grandfather. Why not 5 stars, I usually dont do 5 on just one visit...I will wait to come back and try a second time and update accordingly.

So happy we discovered this gem. The salsa and guacamole is fresh and all of the food we have tried is delicious! The owner, Santiago, frequently comes out to talk to customers. He came to our table to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves and even tempted us with a sample of his newest creation, chorizo and cheese tortillas. We have become regulars.

Santi's Mexican Grill is by far one of the most authentic mexican restaurants in the area. Have been there a number of times since their recent opening and have been pleasantly surprised time after time. Their exceptional service and love for authentic Mexican cuisine makes them simple the best. Everything from their Queso Fundido with their homemade Chorizo to their Carne en su jugo is beyond delicious. Also, let's not forget that Santi's started as a catering service so this restaurant was a much waited piece of heaven. Can't wait to go back to this little piece of our mother's kitchen.
