This deli has been on my list to try for weeks. And on a sunny Sunday I came by and Paul's Deli did NOT disappoint! Im from back East NY/NJ. Food is important. We have Italian, Hungarian, Russian, Polish, French- if its a country know for food the Eadt coast has it and had the best of it too. Here in Orange County food is not as important and the flavors and quality are lost. Well I can say first hand that Paul's is top rate! Keep up the great work guys! I'll be back!

On-point, east coast style sandwiches. Had a 16" prosciutto that was delicious - plenty of flavor. The sandwich itself was basic but with italian dressing that just highlighted the flavor or the meat. Friend got cannoli as well which was good. Small, local shop that I will support - go small biz!

I met a couple friends here before a movie across the street. I decided on Monday's Ravioli Special. It came with beef ravioli covered in marinara sauce and cheese, a side salad, garlic bread, and a small drink for $6.99. It's a good amount of food for the price. Everything was okay, nothing special though. I tried some of my friend's pastrami sandwich that came in a French baguette. It was also alright, but a bit too much bread. Lastly, we shared an order of cannoli. They were kind of small, but not bad. Paul's Deli isn't much for service. You just order and pick up your food at the counter. The gentleman taking our orders wasn't overly friendly, nor was he rude. We just placed our orders and he was pretty much done with us. The place is kitschy with boxing memorabilia on the walls. It's pretty small with only about five tables to eat at. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall lot.

I got a message from fellow Yelper Laina A to meet up here for dinner before the CMYE movie night. Sounded like a plan to me, so I headed over to Paul's. I had no idea this was a favorite Yelpers spot for grub before the movie nights! LOCATION & PARKING: In a small strip mall with a handful of other shops, a block away and across from the Regency Theaters. There's a decent size parking lot so parking wasn't a problem. SERVICE: Order & pay, as well as pick up at the counter when it's ready. Otherwise the guy behind the counter was very friendly and had a great personality, which of course made the experience more enjoyable. FOOD: I arrive before everyone else and start looking over the menu. I wasn't super hungry, but decided to order a half hot Pastrami sandwich (mustard, tomato, pickle, provolone - $6.50). yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… I think it took 10 minutes or more before my order was ready. Just before they called my name, they asked whether I wanted pasta or salad. In this case the salad was pasta too, pretty garlicky (OK) and surprisingly a bit spicy (not OK). Wasn't a fan. My sandwich was pretty tasty, but in my humble opinion, it was on the wrong type of bread. It was an extremely crusty / crunchy French bread. Yes the center was soft, but the crust was SO crunchy, it detracted from the filling inside. Later I was surprised when the guy behind the counter called me over and gave me a plate with 4 cannoli's on it to share with the table! A nice treat, thank you so much! yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… OVERALL: A pretty small place with very good foot at very reasonable prices!

Paul's Deli has become the official meeting place for Yelpers watching a movie at the Regency Theater across the street. Such was the case when Laina invited a bunch of us to grab a quick bite before the recent CMYE movie event. Pay as you order at the counter is the deal here. I would assume the big guy taking the orders is Paul. I got a good kick out of his sense of humor and was rather pleased when he treated our group to cannolis on the house. What a delight! Thank you! The $6.99 Monday Special was popular at our table. Beef or cheese ravioli from the hot entree and 8" chicken salad or chicken parmesan from the sandwiches were the options. This includes a side salad and small drink of your choice. Sweet deal, ya? Two of us shared the 8" CHICKEN PARM meal and a plate of CHICKEN ALFREDO PASTA ($8+), which also came with a salad, plus crunchilicious garlic bread. This was a feast that neither of us could devour entirely so leftovers were to be had. I thought the pasta was delicious with the right amount of garlic however, the noodles was a tad overcooked IMO. I'm not a sandwich aficionado but the chicken parmesan was something I enjoyed. A little crunch on the breading of the chicken would make this perfection. Surprisingly, even the side of pasta salad was very tasty. Having just an hour in our hands, we had more than enough time to eat at a comfortable pace while enjoying the company. This would definitely be a good choice for those with time constraints and if in the area. Plastic is accepted except for AMEX.

Located in a tiny strip mall off Westminster and Goldenwest, behind a Popeyes is Paul's deli. The inside is filled with boxing and football memorabilia. many which were autographed. The place is small, holds about 5 tables of 4, and the menu is simple: - Hot sandwiches - Cold sandwiches - a few pasta dishes - and salads I came here on a Monday night, before the Yelp CMYE movie event: Furious 7. I've seen yelpers check in here before other movie nights, and decided to have one of their "Monday night specials" beforehand. The Monday special is beef or cheese ravioli, salad, bread and a small soda for $6.99. They also have chicken parmesan on the Monday special menu. The meal took about 15 minutes to cook, and it came out piping hot, served on a ceramic dish. It wasn't a huge portion but adequate, and the garlic bread and salad provided a nice balance to the meal. Jose came from behind the counter to chat with the customers. He offered refills and asked if we enjoyed our meal. We chatted about yelp, and the movie we were about to see. Overall a good experience. Jose said they have daily specials, and, you can order online to have your food waiting. On weekends it gets crowded, but most people take their food to go. If you're in a hurry, cold sandwiches are the fastest item, taking about 5 minutes to make. Plenty of free parking.

I wound up here, like many Yelpers have in the past, before a Yelp Goes To The Movies screening. Boxing fans should check this place out for the decor alone. I got a table next to pictures of Primo Carnera and Jack Sharkey. They have different specials every night including one entree and one or two sandwiches. I went with the Cheese Ravioli special. This was one of the best pasta dishes I've had out in a while. The marinara was spiced just right with the tomatoes being not too sweet and not too tart. The salad came in a plastic container but I think that it may have been made fresh, and I liked Paul's Italian dressing. Even the garlic bread was good (by the way, my family never serves bread with pasta. How many carbohydrates do you need at one meal?) This special came with a small drink. All for $7. That is special! What an excellent meal deal. What more could I ask for? BYO? I'll definitely call ahead and inquire about this before I go next time.

this is small shop in a strip mall behind an Arco station right on Westminster Blvd. You would miss it if you were not looking for it. I was seeing a client near by and offered to buy him lunch fire up the ole yelp app and this came up he liked the reviews so we headed over. you order at the counter, then find a seat. The seating is very limited in here but we were lucky to be just in time to get one. We both ordered the large Italian classic sandwich it was huge cut into 4 normal sized sandwiches. I took two halves home, then I ate one of those halves of that while sitting in traffic. the sandwich was very tasty, the bread was little hard and my associate took the top off of his and ate the bottom with the innards, he was able to polish off three out of four sections with this angle. He still took one home. The staff was great and seems like there is a large repeat group that come in and all the people behind the counter interact with the customers not just the counter person. The decor has a lot of boxing memorabilia on their wall. There's quite a lot signed pictures of boxers too. Not a bad lunch, nothing stood out food wise good or bad the staff defiantly makes this place that's for sure.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. I was heading to the Yelp CMYE movie night straight from work and wanted something a little more than the $1 hot dogs at the theater. Paul's came up in the search with great reviews from several Yelpers that had also eaten there before other CMYE's. I called in my order since I was cutting the time short and they were exceptionally friendly. Ended up ordering the Monday Special chicken parm sandwich with garlic penne and a drink for $6.99. It was ready when I showed up and I was pleasantly surprised that it was a large sandwich. Well, that is until I bit into it. The bread, marinara, and cheese were great, but that's all it really was. I kept thinking "where's the chicken?" Finally figured out that the chicken was like the cheap processed, breaded patties you get in a 20 pack at Costco. There was no substance and the "chicken" would just turn into a soggy, bready mess. I just expected better quality for such good reviews. The garlic penne was really spicy and I ended up throwing half the meal away for being nearly inedible.

Great sandwiches and the owner is very helpful and makes sure everyone is taken care of. Portions are large and the food tastes fresh and homemade.

I have been stalking Pauls for months now, if not over a year, watching countless yelpers check in, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Well tonight Ive reached 400 reviews. Pauls deli located at the corner of Westminster blvd and Goldenwest in a tiny strip mall across the street from the movie theaters and PetCo. Offering plenty of store front parking It seems to be the to go to place before the Yelp movie events. Walking in, we were greated by a very nice middle aged giant who was pleasantly friendly. We chatted about sandwiches and yelp as he crafted on of the most yummy sandwiches ever. At first it was going to be a solo sandwich night. My hot date said he wasnt hungry. It was a last minute decision to change my 8 inch sandwich to the big one. We ordered the Italian, half hot, half cold and it was served with 2 different sides of pasta. It was created perfectly with a delicious combination of italian meats, some provolone cheese, lettuce, pepperchinis and Italian dressing nestled on a very fresh 16 inch roll cut in half, then cut again. The only thing left out were the tomatoes. 8 incher was way to big for a girl like me, but I kept going and going and it was gone. I was stuffed. The menu consists of hot and cold sandwich classics, all which look amazing. A few side salads are available along with a half dozen flavors of chips. Bottled waters and drinks are available slong with Pepsi fountain drinks and Lipton flavored teas. Solid 5 stars for the whole package: location, price, taste and excellent service.

Before Yelp Monday Movie nights, a few Yelpers usually meet here for dinner since it's right across the street from the theatre. I was invited by the lovely Laina and finally had a chance to sit down, eat with the Yelp crew, and check this place out. The deli is tiny. We grabbed a table front and center for our small group and most of us just ordered the daily special - chicken parm or the raviolis. I went with the raviolis. Food is made to order so it takes a bit which gave us time to catch up on life and mingle with new Yelpers which is something I always love to do and help bring them into the fold. Food finally arrived and it was hot and fresh and quite filling. Sauce was generous, garlic bread was toasty and garlickly, and to top it off, we got some complimentary cannolis and great service! Overall, a great success and I'm sure we'll all be back.

This is my to go place whenever there's a yelp movie night in the area. The first time I came here, I was already sold by the service. The MAN (Jr is the name) behind the counter knows everything about his food and he's able to make excellent suggestions for you if you are lost with the big menu behind the counter. For this visit, Gf got parmesan meatball spaghetti with side salad and garlic bread. I got a whole corned beef hot sub with a side. Jr kept asking if I was sure about ordering a large because it's... quiet big. I told him to bring it on since I was hungry. Well, sure enough, half of the order going to lunch tomorrow. The sub included mustard and pickles with corned beef covered with mozzarella (I think). It's so simple but yet so delicious. I am pretty sure any Italian sub shop would be destroyed if they are next to Paul's. On the side dish, potato salad, macaroni salad, and pasta salad were offered. I paused for a moment because nothing sounded too good to me at the time, Jr noticed my pause and asked me, "do you like garlic?" "Yes I do." "ok, I got something for you." Just like that, my side dish was a very garlicky pasta, not the salad, a real warm pasta and it was soooo good. Gf's dish came with plenty of meatballs and her side green salad was fresh and crispy. The garlic bread was on the spot light as the pasta. I like hers but I love mine. They do have a restroom for customers but you will have to go under the counter, walk next to their kitchen, say hi to the lady that's in the kitchen ( I am guessing that's the mom), and here you go, the bathroom on your left side. I wish Paul's is closer to where I live. Don't get me wrong, I already have Claro's in my area but I like to support mom n pop shop any day especially when the food is homey and delicious. Ditch the popcorn, sneak in a sub. There, I said it.

Read the reviews, and finally made it here. Awesome food and staff. Grabbed the chicken parm and girl had the boiled ham sandwich. Grabbed pasta and potato salad on the side, and had cannoli's at the end. Nice sat afternoon lunch, great prices, and in a medium busy strip mall. Definitely would return for the pasta.

I have been going here for 35 years and it is by far the best place to get a sandwich. The pasta dishes (hot and cold) are great as well. you will not be disappointed.

First time here last night and we got there 10 mins before closing. We were pleasantly surprised with everything! The food was delicious!! Super cool owner that welcomed us in and took our order sit down orders with a smile and conversation. I offered to order it all to go but he insisted what we stay and that he was in no hurry to boot us at 8pm (closing time) The food was great, WE'D TOTALLY COME BACK!

Been going to Paul's Deli for several years now- they never disappoint. Even their Cuben is on point- I don't Mustard but the way they made their sandwich was balanced and bringing me back for more. Nice that they offer hot food and pastas- good prices for the portions. Sandwiches are large enough to share- get multiple cut up so that you can try all their good eats- Inclduding their Hero Sandwich. *Nice they take phone orders!

Yelp driving for lunch while working in Cypress and I found this little gem of a neighborhood, family restaurant. Lodged in a strip mall on Westminster Blvd this little restaurant remains reminiscent of it's beginnings, along with no air conditioning, at least not the day I was there. While waiting to order my lunch I studied the menu and the decor. Filled with sports, particularly boxing, and other sports and local memorabilia, this restaurant is like a time capsule that's been kept updated every few years or decades. After a short wait, Jose behind the counter described the menu of Special Sandwiches to me. While many of the sandwiches are similar I decided to go with Paul's signature sandwich. Served on a delicious crispy roll, the sandwich was 3-4 different meats layered atop the standard sandwich fixin's: lettuce, tomato, mayo, etc. It was PFG. While waiting and talking to Jose, he asked me how I found Paul's. I told him I found them on Yelp; he was so pleased to hear that he offered me a free pasta side salad to try and review. It was a penne pasta salad with tarragon, a very ample, tangy and lively accompaniment to a delicious sandwich. If I'm in the area again and I find myself yearning for a delicious, italian sub or other italian hoagie-shop fare I'll be sure to circle back to Paul's. If you do, say hi to your conterman, maybe it's Jose, and tell them you found them on Yelp.

Great pastrami sandwich. One of the last few real deli's in the area. I love all of the boxing memorabilia on the walls.

I had the best Italian sub here! Quality meats, and soft, chewy bread. Service is friendly too.

This place was okay. Very small venue and no a/c in this summer heat. I ordered Paul's Special and it was okay. It cost about $8 and it wasn't that big. The sandwich was pretty plain. But then again, maybe it's meant to be that way. I might come back here someday but I'll definitely try out other sandwich places first since I wasn't too impressed with this place.

Had the Italian sub... Good amount of meat, dressing, and veggies. Quaint little place with lots of boxing pics. Would return!

Great local Italian sandwiches and dinners. Stopped by for a sandwich, but tried their Friday special lasagna with salad and drink. Total $17.99 before tip. Lasagna with meat sauce. Huge portions! Have had their eggplant parmagiana sandwich and it's heavenly.

The best deli in the area!! Great portions friendly staff and the food is just damn good!! You can never go wrong coming here. You are getting what you're paying for here and it's worth every penny.

I love hole in the wall restaurants! Why go to boring subway and have a yoga mat sandwich, when you can find a gem like this. Cool little Italian place, with subs, pasta and deserts. They have cannoli and they fly in the famous NY black n white cookies. Good prices. $13 for a whole 16" sub, chips and a black and white cookie. And the subs are huge.

Nice find in the neighborhood. I had a chicken Parmesan and the fiancée had the Italian sub. Both were very good!

  • Camille R.

Food was good, but unfortunately my first experience there, I'm pretty sure they lost my order. Took me a half hour to get my sandwich that by the time I got it, I had to eat so fast I couldn't enjoy it (during my lunch hour.) The staff was very nice except for the fact no one seemed go know anything about our order when we asked and even then no one seemed in a hurry to fulfill the order after the saw there was a mistake.

The owner is super friendly as well as the other gentleman who works there I think his name is Ralphie . The sandwiches are always fresh and the portions are huge. We love their food and keep going back but I think a lot of what we love about Paul's is the customer service. Its like family. Oh and did I mention the cannolis? Super yummy!

  • Ray A.

Great chicken parm! I would have taken a picture but I ate it too fast. The bread was fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken was juicy and tender. And the cannoli... Holy Cannoli!!! The owner was funny and very kind. Just made the atmosphere fun and energetic. Definitely coming back.

As you walk in you are captivated by the smell of fresh bread and ingredients. Then you notice all the history that blankets the walls. You order with the nicest gentlemen that agrees bacon goes with everything. After you order your custom sandwich, or maybe you want the Paul's special, he is diligently back to work to prepare your fresh sandwich. With competitive prices you can't go wrong with Paul's Deli.

The Italian sub was the closest thing I have tasted to a New York sub since I left there, great quality ingredients. Friendly service, seemed to know a lot of the customers by name. Gave me a small pasta to try since it was my first time there. I will definitely be going back. Oh & it had a good Italian smell when you walked through the door. Yummy!!!

I love this place! I first walked into this place 7 years ago and I loved the food and service. And it still has amazing food and service! I love all the workers there because they are funny and friendly. This place hasnt changed a bit. I used t eat here on a daily basis but now i stop by from time to time when I am close. I usually get cold sandwiches and my favorite one would be the turkey bacon sandwich with a side of red pasta. My favorite hot dish would be their lasagna.

First time here..... I was already excited to eat here just going by the pictures and reviews. I love when my food is worth every penny I spent on it. I came in and the place is cool and cozy! Staff is awesome! Jose helped me out and was very informative. I had no clue what to order even though I seen great selections on yelp. I told him I couldn't eat ham and he was quick to tell me other options detail by detail which I fine to be superior customer service. Knowing what your selling and able to explain quick is Awesome! I waited a little bit less then 5-10 minutes for my food. It was literally in and out service. Fast service I must say! So long story short I ordered the 8" roast beef and turkey cold sandwich a side order of pasta and a cannoli. Literally love at first taste. All this food for as little as under $10 and so much food I'm stuffed and still has a few bites left. I will definitely recommend this place and go back for more

I never knew that this place existed, but when we were planning to go to see Carrie with the CMYE Yelp event, our friend Steve S. asked if we wanted to meet up here for dinner with some other Yelp friends before the movie. My husband said that he had this place bookmarked, and from the reviews and photos, I figured that it would look like a good place to try. We met up with four other Yelpers. (Steve S., Kevin N, VeraChris N., and Gizelle M.) I decided to get a half meatloaf sandwich. I rarely get to eat meatloaf and I love it. My husband had the turkey. The half sandwich is eight inches and the full is sixteen! We all had a hard time finishing the eight inch. Everything tasted great. We are always looking for yummy delis. We even got a small side (which was quite a bit for a small). We had choices between macaroni salad, pasta salad, potato salad, and red pasta salad. (I believe it was a marinara which gave it the name). We both had macaroni salad. The guy working there, Junior, was a very friendly guy who clearly appreciated his customers. He was also very funny and entertaining. He found out that we were there for the Yelp movie event and we conversed with him while eating. We asked him to get a group photo of us which was no problem at all to him. He even gave us all free cannolis on the house. I thought that he was pretty awesome. Great food, and excellent customer service who appreciates business, is an A+ in my book. I will definitely be back!

This is by far, the best sandwich shop I've ever been to, can't believe it's taken so long to write a review. I always get the same thing turkey and swiss with avocado, it's amazing. They have an amazing house dressing that is phenomenal. I also love the pesto bow tie pasta. All the ingredients are always fresh and the staff are super friendly and fast!

Yelp meet up before the CMYE Movie!! Paul's Deli has been on my radar for a longtime now, since it's just across from the Regency Theater where yelp has it's CMYE Yelp Goes to the movies. So when a few of my yelp buddies got in for this event, we planned a meet up before the movie. This is a down to earth Italian deli. No frills, but the food is very good. I got the Chicken Parmesan sandwich. Junior who was manning the counter told me I got a choice of side dish (penne pasta in a marinara sauce) and a drink (Barqs root beer) all for $8. What a bargain. The sandwich itself was about 8 inches long. The chicken Parmesan was so good, delicious. They give you a lot of food, I could not finish my sandwich, because The penne pasta side was out of bounds. First of all they give you a lot of it. It's very garlicky and the marinara sauce was on point. I finished my pasta, it was that good. Junior was so good to us. He took a group picture for us outside and even gave us some canoli gratis. The shell was so crunchy and the filling was so creamy, very delicious. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers Steven C, Shawna C, Kevin N, VeraChris N & Gizelle M for making it an enjoyable meal & a lot of interesting yelp experience sharing. I've got a lot more items to try at Paul's Deli, I'll definitely be back

After talking to a fellow Yelp friend about the CMYE - Carrie event in Westminster we decided to meet up here at Paul's Deli (which we have had bookmarked for a while) for a pre-movie dinner. The gentleman working the counter Junior, was very polite, helpful and funny. We quickly ordered are sandwiches (small size = 8") and took our seat at a table as we awaited the rest of our group. I ordered the Turkey while my wife had the Meatloaf sandwich. The food was nicely prepared, fresh and tasted great. It was also a bargain at $8 as we did not realize that the sandwiches also included a pasta side. We both ended up with the macaroni salad which was good as well. Paul's Deli is a very old school type deli with walls lined in boxing, baseball and other sports memorabilia. Junior who was working the counter was very polite and continuously joking with the group throughout the meal. The deli is clean, parking is easy to find and it's located across the street from the movie theater making this an ideal spot for a group get together prior to the event (seems to be a common occurrence here). This is exactly the kind of service I like to see when checking out a new business. At the end of the meal we asked Junior if he could take a group photo of us and he happily obliged. On the way out the door for the photo he handed us a tray with 6 cannoli's for dessert on the house (a very nice gesture). He took the photo (which came out great - can be seen on our profile pages) and we went back in the scarf down our delicious cannolis (very crispy and the custard was great). This topped off an already great meal. Food = 5 Service = 5 Cost = 5 This place definitely deserves a high grade and gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Great customer service in today's times is not always easy to find but this place delivers on all cylinders. We will definitely return here again.

Super good! And the sandwich's are huge!! They are so nice in there. Welcoming to everyone and they treat you special. One time they gave us free pasta's just to try them and another time they gave us a bunch of dessert. My 4 kids were so excited! My family of 6 is stuffed off two sandwiches.

I have always seen this place wanting to try it. Well we did.... Definitely one of the best sandwiches we've ever had!! It's a very small place easy to miss but highly recommend!!! Very nice staff also.

I was pretty doubtful at a the reviews saying that the sandwich bread was soggy. They are not exaggerrating, it was indeed soggy. The daily specials were a pretty good deal ($7.50 for full sandwich, small side of pasta and a drink) but then again quality of food is mediocre. The owners and workers there were very friendly. I would imagine they would try to resolve the bread sogginess after reading these reviews but nah. They do have a TV in here on a NBA channel.

  • Aarron W.

Definitely a place to bookmark and check out when you are in the area. This deli has it's roots on the east coast, so expect that type of sandwich when you order. If you order takeout, they know to place certain sauces in containers so your sandwich doesn't end up soggy. I got a combo sandwich on wheat, and it was amazing! The pastrami is delicious as well----not fatty and very tender. I recommend!

I would definitely recommend trying this place at least once. This hole in the wall, mom and pop style restaurant, is sure to meet your authentic Italian food craving. You definitely feel like one of the family when you order and throughout your dining experience. It's family owned and operated and they are so nice! Even though they ran out of the penne pasta I ordered, they gave me the stuffed shells and they were amazing! I got pasta, salad, garlic bread, and a drink for $7!!! AND the owner gave my bf and I free cannolis which were amazing (and I'm really not a big fan of cannolis). All in all, you must try this place!

I've gone here a few times now and I've tried the chicken pesto special on Wednesdays. 10/10 Amazeballs! I had the chicken parm sandwich 10/10 very delicious and my wife and I just got 2 canoles for free and I'm not usually the kind of person that like custard filled anything but these little treats were surprisingly awesome too!!

This place has a broad variety of hot and cold sandwiches (large are 16"). They also have Italian dishes like spaghetti, lasagna, etc. and salads. So far everything I have tried is good.

After my epic fail at the place a couple of doors down, I picked up sandwiches for the girlies. The prosciutto sandwich must have been delish because I was looking for leftovers and all I see is the wrapper. What struck my about this deli is that the gentleman behind the counter is truly happy to see you and to make sure that you leave happy. He had a steady stream of customers, they seemed like locals, so that in itself is pretty telling. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going to have to dine in and get my own sandwich!

I'm definitely on a sandwich kick right now and what better way to feed my cravings than a stop to Paul's Deli in Westminster. A bunch of other Yelpers have told me that this place was amazing, and I'm sort of kicking myself for waiting until now to try it. Dining in with Jaime P means we are both going to order something that I... I mean we want to try. So we chose two of the things that popped up immediately. He chose the the chicken parmesan, which he questioned whether or not he should do the meal or the sammie. The man at the counter without hesitation insisted that he go the handheld route and he did us right. Though I'm sure the meal itself is pretty tasty, the piece of chicken lathered up in delicious marinara on a perfectly toasted bun literally danced on my tongue. It was piping hot and the mozzarella cheese was nice and gooey. I sort of wish we ordered the large because I totally wanted more than a half. The chicken was moist and there were ingredients up until the last bite. I ordered the cranberry turkey and was just as good. They aren't stingy with their proteins and give you a good amount of cranberry sauce that will make you wish Thanksgiving was around the corner. It's simple, but delish and it works out nicely. Out of the two, my favorite was definitely the parmesan. I would order a large one of those suckers next time and opt for a meatball to accompany it. Jaime had some desserts, but didn't even offer to save me a piece... but he said they were yummy. Apparently the cookies will change people where they wont even consider sharing. Boo. While you're waiting for your meal, you can look at all the boxing memorabilia they have on their wall. There's quite a lot to take in. I was impressed. Not only was the staff nice, the food was fresh and filling. Portions were big for a small size and the prices were super reasonable. I'm a fan of you Paul's. You'll be seeing me more often now that I know where you are.

This place is a hidden gem! The employees are super friendly and generous, the food is outstanding, and the prices are great for the amounts. We love the Cuban and my personal favorite of the sides is the cheese and olive oil pasta. It looks basic but it's so flavorful! I'm spreading the word to everyone about this place.

Love this place! Neighborhood feel, hole in the wall. Dudes are super nice and chill and helpful! We order 6ft subs all the time for our competitions at west high so we love them for providing great food! Pastas are amazing and real homey!

This place has great service, the workers are great and super nice. However the food was only OKAY in my opinion. We came here on a Wednesday The bread on the torpedo sandwich was pretty chewy whereas fresh bread is usually crunchier and easier to chew. We had a side of garlic penne and that was pretty good. Overall the food was good, but not that impressive.

Delicious sandwiches. One of the best sandwiches places around. People are really cool as well, and it seems like a mom & pop shop with many regulars since everyone seems to know each other. As for the food, everything I have gotten here has been legit. The daily specials are great, especially the pork sandwich and the chicken parm :)

What would I do without Yelp and my dear Yelpers? really... One fine day I received an email from Bob T about a get together before one of the legendary movie nights that our dear CM organize for us OC Yelpers the place? Paul's Deli so we went there and from outside the place looks like any other place from a strip mall in the area but inside is a trip to memory lane, so much boxing memorabilia!! super cool yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… As usual the get together was really fun yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… we Yelpers are cool people =) Great service, Mathew and his crew are very nice and attentive. And the food .... Yummy!!! It was great!! Delicious deli meat, sandwiches and traditional Italian dishes. That day I had the house sandwich yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… and in a later visit I had their pasta, delicious as well! Their cannolis are epic! yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… Next time I'm definitely trying their mushrooms and other antipastos that they have... I believe you can buy it by weight. Good ROI, Portions are pretty big ,both times I have left with a box, without sacrificing quality. Excellent place! Of course I'll be back!

After reading so many good reviews, I had to try it.. Well, I had gone twice, both times wanting to dine in: the 1st time we went, we had to give it up. Because the place had no AC and it was just too hot to eat in to be enjoyable. 2nd time I made sure going in the evening. Still warm, but bearable. Both times we went we did not receive any welcome/greetings from the owner like many Yelpers had mentioned. In fact, not even an acknowledgment . There were other customers and I saw no greetings either. So I knew I was not along. Oh well, no big deal.. Now the food, the sandwich was a bit disappointing, the bread was tough and chewy, the lettuce and tomato was almost non existent, so I didn't know what others were bragging about. However, I'd give thumb up for the hot dish. Ordered ravioli, the dish was hot and delicious. Garlic bread was excellent. Great value for the price. Highly recommended. Yes, I can recommend this place, and I will go back to try their other hot dishes.

Very excited to try this place when I saw it pop up close by. After reading the reviews I figured this was a no brainer. This place does not disappoint! Located in a small strip off a busy road parking can be a little tricky but luckily we found a spot right away! When I think about getting a sand which this place serves up exactly what I like! Other Yelpers are spot on with saying this place has such great service! Greeted with a smile and helped to pick out a good sandwich being my first time. They even throw in free potato salad with the sandwich! Got the Paul's special and it's delicious! Can't wait to come back and try what else they have to offer when I am in the area!

We tried Paul's Deli for the first time today. Let me tell you, we weren't disappointed. My kids weren't sure what sandwich they wanted, so we were given free samples. We all loved the food. It was fresh and tasty. We got to meet Paul himself and one of his sons. We will definitely be back.

This was a Great find! We are visiting here and staying down the street. We felt like good ol Sandwiches and came upon this gem! So so so good! We got the Hot pastrami and the Italian special I believe it was called, and I was in food heaven! My husband and I both split our sandwiches so we could try them both and I'm so glad we did. His favorite was the pastrami and mine was the Italian! Highly highly recommending you find this little hidden gem and trying it out!

Pauls deli is pretty yummy for my tummy! yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… From the moment we pulled into the parking lot of Pauls I started dancing! Yup dancing! The toilet two step I had to pee so bad it hurt! Luckily they keep an impeccable bathroom. I loved this sign! yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… I knew it was a good sign (har har) of things to come. I got back to the action where Bob & Ruth T, Lili H, Quynh P, Grace C, Jonathan Z & John L Were all enjojing the bruscetta without me :-( yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… We were all soon met by Trina D, Craig F,and soon the food was rolling out. I like the great sammys. My capiacolla was the bomb and it really hit the spot for me. The Italian spiced ham was very tasty and partnered with provalone, shredded lettuce and tomatoes made my day. 4****Stars Others had a variety of sammiches, pastas, salads and all had smiles! It was fun getting to hang out with some my Yelp friends at Pauls: yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… Lastly I had Matthew (Pauls Son) hook us up with some yummy cannolis. OMG these were freakin awsome. I would have eaten all of them had I not been so full from my sammy. yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… Cream filled rolls of finger food goodness! 5*****Stars Pauls is a small but clean deli that has a variety of sammy choices as well as pasta and salads. The interior is adorned with lots of cool sports memorabilia. The boxing stuff is uber cool! yelp.com/biz_photos/paul… And guess what? You can order all of Paul's goodies online! Daily specials too! pauls-deli.com Eating yummy bruschetta $Free Couple of great Italian sammys $18 Grip of canollis to share with friends $9 Seeing the worlds largest cameltoe in the parking lot ... Priceless! Thanks to Bob for scouting this place out! He is da man! Oh yea I'll be back

GREAT food!!! The owner was so friendly and I got my Italian sub just like I wanted, as in I don't care for a couple the Italian meats, so he upped the ante on both types of salami. You can't go wrong with service and the food at this place, I'm so glad a friend recommended it to me.

  • Bob T.

Heard about Yelpers getting together before Ryan's movie events, sounded like a good idea! Discussed organizing a pre-movie meet up with Roy B. - some criteria need to be met though: Reliably rated at least 4 stars overall, located near the event, good for a group of 10-12, and indoor seating due to rain in the forecast! Paul's Deli met those needs - and more!! Dave G. and I went to check the place out - Roy will show up pretty much anywhere that lets him in - but if I'm taking my wife and inviting others - I want to be sure it's good! I was able to try several items over two visits by splitting orders. I've tried the hot and cold Italian sandwiches and a dinner entree. The sandwiches are they way to go here - the full size sandwich is really large - you've been warned! I'd recommend the hot sandwiches over the cold ones - I enjoyed the Chicken parm. and the Eggplant parm: 4.25 stars. Tried the Roast pork and the Italian sub: 4 stars The manicotti entree I tried, and some others opinions of the hot entrees were pretty much a universal "just ok" - 3 stars. My wife enjoyed her half turkey/bacon and half roast beef/avocado sandwiches - on squaw bread, which made her happy - she felt extra mayo on both was necessary. Service on both visits was great! I spoke with Paul's son, Matthew to give him a "heads up" that our group would be coming in - he was glad to have us, appreciated me letting him know, and offered a couple trays of bruschetta on the house. We all enjoyed it - hand cut bread, with fresh toppings, and good amount of garlic. It was a perfect appetizer choice since people were arriving at different times! Paul's takes orders by phone and online - a plus for a group - I thought it was cool that as soon as Grace C. arrived, she walked up to the counter and received her food! Located in a typical strip mall exterior, the inside of Paul's is a local landmark - filled with memorabilia of boxing, baseball, auto racing and other interesting items to look at while waiting - made for a great atmosphere for this little PYE! Only about 5 or 6 tables in all, we were able to push together a few for our group. There is a bathroom available - you just need to go through the kitchen to the back of the place to get to it! Matthew and the server (didn't get her name) were accommodating and made us feel welcome. It's also great to see that they are big supporters of the local police and fire depts. 2nd best of quote of the night was from him: (best quote was from Lili H!!) Bob: Found your place on Yelp, read some really good reviews about it. Matthew: Ya, I like Yelp - spent a few late nights writing those reviews! Our little meet up worked out great - the best part of any get together is the people - Thanks to all of you for coming, to Matthew and his staff at Paul's, and especially to Roy B. for co-hosting and picking up a couple of platters of cannoli for the group! If you're ever in the area, Paul's Deli is a nice little place to stop in for a sandwich!

You can't beat Paul's Special. Fresh ingredients, soft bread - it hits the spot every time. Get the large and call it in if you are in a hurry, they can get pretty busy. The pasta salads are great too - they are more flavorful than most. If you go on a Friday, that is Corned Beef day. Ask for rye or you will get the sandwich on a french roll. Or just go with the Reuben. Parking tip - parking can be tuff, park in the gas station lot.

I met up with a few Yelpers at Paul's Deli before going to the movies at the Regency across the street. Paul's is a typical Italian deli. We ordered the Tuesday specials which were $6.99 each. I had the baked mostacolli, side salad, and drink while my +1 had the Cuban sandwich, white pasta salad, and drink. It was plenty of food. Everything was made to order so there was a bit of a wait. I didn't care for the side salad or pasta salad but the mains were really tasty. Next time I want to try their hot pastrami sandwich. Some others at our table tried out different items and everyone seemed to like their meals. Bob T. and Roy B. even got us some cannolis for dessert. We arrived late and missed out on the bruschetta but I'm sure it was delicious. Thanks to both Bob and Roy for setting up the PYE. Paul's is a solid spot to get food if you're ever in the area and hungry. Check out the specials of the day or order up your heart's desire.

Sorry! I'm going to have to disagree with my Yelp friends Roy B and Chris D on this place. We came here after being underwhelmed by the banh mi's next door at Tan Hoang Huong. The smell of garlic bread dragged us in. The place was packed too. We got the special that day, the Cuban which came with a side (we got potato salad) and a drink; and also one of the house specials (the Paul's I think?). Both were about $8 for a small. After a long wait (almost 20 mins) we finally got our food. I opened up the Cuban first and was a little shocked at how little meat there was in there. I took a bite and I could not even break the bread apart. I literally needed to rip it off with my fingers. Seemed like it was stale or something. Just a few bites in and I was over it. Then I tried the other sandwich, which was a cold one, and the bread was also very tough. I ended up just picking the meat off inside. If you know me, I never just pick at my food. I really did not like these, and esp for $20 for these two with tax and tip, so not worth it. I barely put a dent in either sandwich, and after not wanting to finish the banh mi from Tan, I ended up eating the rest of the banh mi bc it tasted better than this place. We also got a potato salad and it was way over slathered in mayo, and I love mayo. This place is not worth the long wait. Also seems like they do not have restrooms here.

This past saturday was my second time here. The first thing that grabs your attention, is the customer service. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. My favorite so far is the Italian sub sandwich. Excellent flavors with soft bread. Major plus for me. The have a dish there Garlic Pasta, ummmmm so good. A little out of my way from work and home, but very much worth the drive. If your here around lunch time, it can be a little crazy as it probably pack with customers, so come a little before or after the lunch rush. Looking forward to trying some other items on ther menu..

First time here and they did not disappoint. Friendly and welcoming staff and the sandwiches (turkey avocado and Paul's special) were great. Before leaving we were informed the boss wanted us to try their cannolis on the house, they were delicious. I will definitely be back.

This place is legit. We came across Paul's as we were starving to death and coming off a hangover. We ordered a ruben sandwich and a Paul's special sub. My husband just said "this is the best sub sandwich ever." My Ruben was everything I dreamt of and more.

Met up with some pretty awesome yelp*ers before a movie event here... I've had this cool little sammich shop in a shopping center across the street from Regency Theaters bookmarked for a while now. Just the decor alone of this place gives you a hint of the coolness and awesomeness that Paul's Deli is. They are definitely boxing aficionados, as this place is adorned with many autographed photos of boxing legends. As for seating, maybe 15 people can dine in comfortably. There were six of us seated at the middle table. I'm assuming that there are specials every night, as there were Monday specials posted when I walked in. The Monday special that I chose was the chicken salad with a very yum, garlicky marinara pasta, and a small drink. I enjoyed the generous slices of Provalone cheese that topped my chicken salad sandwich. And how did Paul's know I love me some chopped celery and easy mayo/easy red onions on my chicken salad?!?! It was a near perfect meal! Near perfect because I was only able to finish one half of the sandwich, and I picked at the other half. The other specials were chicken parmesan and either beef or cheese ravioli. You get to choose your side dish: potato salad, macaroni salad, or a pasta. The sandwich is a full sandwich! I thought for a "special" you'd get maybe half a sandwich. Nope. Paul's hooks you up!!! You will definitely leave with a full tummy! Junior is the dude who you want to make your sandwich! He was so cool and full of character, and he definitely made my first visit to Paul's a great one! And yes, another one visit, 5-star review from me... My fellow yelp*ers thoroughly enjoyed their meals, so this place is absolutely worthy!!! P.S!!!! The cannolis!!! Oh, my goodness the cannolis!!! What a perfect way to end the meal! Crispy, sweet-cream filled, drizzled with chocolate and dusted with powdered sugar goodness!!! Thank you, Junior, for the perfect after-dinner treat!!!

3.5 huge portions. crunchy bread. to me the chicken parmesean and the cuban both needed some additional salt/pepper. service was great and they were real friendly. prices are fantastic also. out of the two sandwiches we had though we just weren't impressed enough to make the drive back. if i lived real close it would be a different story.

Why haven't I dined here sooner or at least ordered to go ... it took the suggestion of some firefighters who raved about Paul's chicken parmesan. Well finally this past Sunday, I tried the chicken parm by default as I ordered the eggplant parmesan (my favorite Italian dish) and they were out of the eggplant. Okay, good reason to come back to order that and give it a comparison to some other place favorites. The chicken parm was delicious. The chicken was very moist not dry and the marinara sauce had great flavor. Includes garlic bread, fresh and warm and a small salad. It was really filling, which caused me to go into a food coma. My daughter ordered the chicken parm sandwich - lol - that sandwich was HUGE. It was so big, with lots of chicken inside that three people could easily share that, unless your really hungry than maybe two can share. The bread was soft, not hard and crusty. Lots of yummy sauce and melted provolone cheese. A great hole in the wall, family friendly service.

Just moved to area and found this place on Yelp and decided to try after seeing all the great reviews. I don't mind no air conditioning if food is good. I wish I could say we enjoyed it. Maybe we tried the wrong items? I had the Rueben and hubby had meatball sandwich. So so meatballs, bread did fall apart. Meat in my Rueben was tough. We ended up tossing what was left. On to another place....

BBQ Beef Sandwich The beef is basically deli roast beef with some BBQ sauce on it. I was thinking pulled brisket, or some kind of BBQ flavor in the meat, my bad. Besides my misunderstanding the bread they use is really good, coupled with thin sliced roast beef and provolone cheese made the overall experience OK 3/5. Chicken Parm. Pretty good, rate it 3/5, just your basic parm. with a ton of cheese. The bread saves the day, hot bread and cheese with tomato sauce, cant go wrong. Overpriced just to add that in, the 16 in. sandwiches are long but thin and I was thinking a bit more substantial. It is basically just meat cheese and sauce. Side not again, the bread is good, would of been a 2/5.

We were out of LA and wanted a classic Italian deli... We arrived to a very hot deli so hot that we brought chairs outside. It wasn't a very welcoming establishment and the two things we ordered took a lot longer then one would think it would espically when we were the only customers. Cute setup definitely can tell it's been there for 30 years love the history

Came across this little gem while my car was getting smogged nearby. My son and I shared a Reuben sandwich and lobster ravioli. They were delicious! We even had leftovers and our bill was only $16. What a deal! We took some turtle brownies to go. Jose was the cashier and was very friendly from the moment we walked in. I support small businesses like this and will definitely be back!

This place totally reminds me of Capri Deli in Covina ( yelp.com/biz/capri-deli-… ) minus the market and the old arcade games. A bunch of us were going to be attending the CMYE across the street to see the latest Die Hard movie so Bob T. and Roy B. suggested that we all get together for dinner before the movie. The cool thing about this place is that you can place orders online or by phone before you show up so that it's waiting for you. Since I knew we were going to be there with a large group and I wanted spaghetti, I called ahead to place my order to be ready by 6. Totally worked out - since everyone else was ordering after they arrived. Bob and Roy had some bruschetta waiting for us. This was quite yummy, very fresh tasting. As I already said - I got spaghetti and meatballs, extra garlic bread. The pasta comes with a salad - total - $10. Not bad, the portion was decent. Garlic bread was awesome - fresh garlic, parsley and butter. What could possible go wrong with that. (well, I did have to deal with some crazy heartburn at night, but totally worth it) For the most part, everyone else got sandwiches. By the way - 1/2 a sandwich is already quite large - easily 10" so you might want to ask before you order a full one as to how big it is. Bob and Roy also got us some cannolis which were quite lovely. The shell was crispy, not stale or soggy which was a plus. I could have eaten the filling in a bowl with a spoon. The shell was just getting in the way. This deli is in a strip mall across the street from the Regency Theater, typical mom and pop shop - from the sounds of it - Paul's son runs it now. Not really a big place, a few tables. With our large group of about 10 or so, we easily took up half the restaurant. There was a few other people there not part of our group eating dinner as well. Definitely will have to think about grabbing a sandwich before heading over to the theater next time.

I really like this place for all of its character in the decor, and the simplicity of the food. Its not at all superior food, but pretty good for the type of restaurant it is. It seems like the specials are always pretty good. I've had the eggplant parm which was good, I was definitely wanting more sauce. I did have a pressed sandwich which I believe was the cuban and that was stellar. I'd pass on their sides as they are all run of the mill, but it will help fill you up is you're looking for a bit more food but don't want to do the whole large sandwich.

Found out about this place at the wroooong time. Thanks to yelp, I've become true to my profile picture and gained over 12lbs from eating at all these fab places twice a day, everyday. In two months. ;( Anyways, I've been here four times so far and had Paul's special, house special (wait, I might have mixed that up. Probably had the Italian) and fettucine alfredo with garlic bread. I'd have to say that I found no flaw in their food. Fresh, tasty, generous-sized portion at a great price! The one thing most horrible to my diet is the one thing I honestly cannot resist- their cannolis. I say this and mean it. I swing by Paul's almost everyday, during my lunch to pick up ONE cannoli. ONE CANNOLI. So. good. I skip meals to eat sweets. I don't know when I'll be back to eat a real meal, but I will be trying something different everytime I come back. And I'm excited to!

Food is great but after coming here for over 20yrs and having someone say we're out of large drinks we know you and will owe you next time. Look that's owe me for something I paid for and didn't get. Went back today reminded them we didn't get our drinks last time but we paid for them. No problem. Yet we were charged and told there was nothing in writing. They have lost our business. We may be a small office of 20 but word travels fast.

What an awesome little deli! I'm beginning to fall in love with these little sole-proprietor-owned shops where the owner is likely to greet you from behind the counter. When I stopped in on Monday night before a Yelp event, Paul was there to chat me up as my to-go order was being prepared. Plus, he gave me a small sample of the amazing provolone cheese that I was about to enjoy on my chicken salad sandwich! So soft and delicious! My chicken salad sandwich hit the spot. Lots of chicken salad (there's a generous helping of onions in it, so consider yourself warned) on a roll that's crusty on the outside but soft on the inside. I admit I wasn't as big of a fan of their white pasta side, but my entire dinner cost under $8 (it was the Monday night special so it came with a drink too) and that made it totally worth it. Thank you Paul! I'll for sure be back next time I'm in the area!

Omggggg that honey ham sandwhich (hot version) is bomb. Com. Idk what I love more, the food or the service. BOTH. The owner is soooo funny and cool!!! I've had some of their other sandwiches too and they're all good, but my fav is the honey ham, also my boyfriend's fav. Their potato salad is sooo yummy too. It gets pretty busy here especially during lunch time. Super family friendly even for a small place. The owner loves sports it's all over the walls, and it seems like he specifically loves hockey. They have pasta dishes too. I love the lasagna it's a huge portion and super delicious. All pasta dishes come with a side salad and garlic bread. They're also super affordable too!!! Great delicious food. Forget what you know about sandwhiches tey this place out. I especially recommend the hot sandwhiches. We are definitely regulars now. :)

Best sandwich I've ever eaten! I get the Turkey and roast beef sandwich and add avocado. Whatever dressing they use on it really makes it taste delicious!! They have a half size and a whole size. I usually get the whole size to have for 3 meals(yay for leftovers!). The whole size is seriously sooo big I usually split it with my boyfriend and then still have leftovers for later! It's a long sandwich that they cut up into 4 smaller sandwiches that are maybe 5" each! So much yummy-ness in one sandwich! As for the restaurant, it's a small hole in the wall with limited seating so I usually take the sandwich to go! There were no restrooms from what I've seen either. In terms of the food though, 5+ stars! Paul is super nice and funny too!

Best sandwiches in the OC...Hands down! Try the Paul's Special. The pasta salad us also great!

Came across Paul's randomly on a casual Sunday morning. So glad I found this place. The food is great and the best part, it's always so fresh. They take their time preparing the food so I can enjoy it. My brother had the Reuben, which was stacked with meat and I had the cheese ravioli. It was very delicious! Give Paul's a try next time you're in the hood.

This place is really good. I've gotten it for lunch several times. I love the sandwiches and Italian food. My favs are salads, chicken parm sandwich, and the garlic bread. The staff are really nice too! It feels like a real hometown kind of place.

This place is pretty legit. It's just like a NYC deli in quality of food and price. Extremely reasonably priced. I was really amazed. Definitely come on by if you want a NYC style deli sandwich experience. The boxing paraphernalia is pretty cool too and the guys who work here are super friendly.

Love this place.. Great food!! Great atmosphere, great service and great prices !!! My favorite is the Paul's special with peppercinis and with a side of white pasta ... WOW!!

I've been coming here for 10+ years and have always been happy with the food and friendly service. The bread is made fresh by a local bakery, and the bread really sets the sandwiches apart, in my opinion. I prefer the cold sandwiches, while my husband prefers the hot sandwiches, and we are both happy every time.

Lobster ravioli with the pink sauce is hands down.. ravioli Is better than restaurants I've been too.. Paul's deli has set my standards so high that no one has come close to it!!! Love it...

This is an amazing family owned restaurant. My family has been going here for as long as I can remember. I started going here when I younger, but didn't know it. My mom would bring back sandwiches and I never asked. I physically went to Paul's when I was in high school after finding out where the sandwiches were coming from. I have had everything on the menu and cannot think of one bad thing to say about it. They cut the meet in front of you, if you get a hot sandwich they bake it in an oven till it is crisp, the pastas are made fresh each time, and the cannoli's are to die for. The atmosphere is lively and seems to take you back in time. When Paul was first starting out the store he would represent the boxing center that used to be nearby. Hence why there are champion belts and pictures of very famous boxers. Paul's is a mom and pop shop without the mom, but has the mom cooking. If you live in Westminster and have not eaten here, you are missing out on history and delicious food. They also do orders online.

OMG this is one of those places that when you eat something there and you leave you start craving it over and over again. Now I am obsessing over a turkey and roast beef sandwich. Love the staff, love the food. My kids are crazy about it too and they are picky little eaters. I will make the drive just to have a sandwich there.

Up until today, I had only ever ordered sandwiches and pasta salad from here. What I liked was the always hospitable service and yummy sandwiches big enough to last me at least two meals. Today, I decided to adventure and try one of their pasta dishes; today's special being beef or cheese ravioli...I opted for cheese. There are daily pasta and sandwich specials that are an amazing deal...either an 8 inch sandwich served with salad and a drink or the pasta special served with salad, garlic bread, and a drink, all for $6.99. This is definitely a time you don't get what you pay for. The serving size and the quality of the food far surpasses the meager price. As for the flavor--delicious! I was first got with the smell of fresh garlic, then the cheesy goodness that is ravioli with melted cheese on top. Delicious...I can't wait to try the lasagna!

I have been coming here since 1979, when I was a freshman at WHS. The sandwiches are outstanding! My favorite is the Torpedo. I have yet to find an Italian restaurant that serves a better spaghetti than Paul's. It's a fantastic family owned business with friendly staff. Even though I have lived in South OC for over 20 years, I will drive the 30 minutes just to have lunch here!

After a long hike, I had in thought to stop by this place to give it a try. I was here yesterday and I got a surprisingly warm welcome. Walked in and placed my order. I ordered the Paul's special and some garlic bread to go along with it. While I was waiting for my order to finish, I looked around and was amazed at what was on the walls. I didn't get to look around much but I definitely saw a lot of history. I recall looking at the boxing pictures and some medals. My order had finished and I took it home. Pulled up on the driveway and started eating. Best sandwich I had ever had! Didn't take very long to finish eating. I've been driving by many times and finally decided to go for it. Definitely will be coming back!

Paul's is consistently good. I don't arbitrarily hand out five stars, and I don't rate restaurants that I enjoy until I've eaten at them a few times to make sure it's consistent, and I rate it properly. Paul's is a diamond in the rough, bar none. I'm from the East coast, and walking into this place takes me right back home. I've been eating at Paul's for years now. It's the kind of place where the regulars are on a first-name basis with the staff, and the staff knows their "usual". The food at Paul's is always fresh. I've never had a bad experience. These folks really enjoy what they do, and they put their heart into everything they make. Everyone has their "off-days", but the consistency and quality at this deli, along with the attitude of the staff, is what keeps me coming back. The staff rarely changes. The people you see behind the counter have been there for years. That means something. I see a few complaints about the "roll" that the sandwiches come on by default. It's the way they're supposed to be made! Pick another bread if you don't like it! EVERYTHING is good here. Since Paul's has been doing this since 1978, they've got everything down to perfection, or at least as close as they come. I mean it - EVERYTHING IS GOOD! Paul's is also very involved in the community and civic events. Paul himself is frequently behind the counter, and always smiling and talking with customers. He takes good care of his regulars, and is someone that you can truly feel has appreciation for his customers. This is a five-star deli. No doubt about it. If you don't enjoy it, you don't know food, and you don't know what a real italian deli is supposed to be like. It's that simple.

Do you love the Rocky movies? You'll feel at home in Paul's right away. When you step in it's like a shrine to boxing and Italy. At any random time you might walk in to find the fire department hanging out at the big table in the center of the room. It's a longtime institution, comfortably worn in. Paul's is the local old school neighborhood deli, the only Italian one in Westminster that I know of, and it is clear that the owners are very proud of their Italian-ness. Paul's signature dish is the Paul's Special sandwich, which my dh orders hot and rates 5 stars. It's the manly wich made of many meats and two cheeses. The 8 inch half sandwich is very filling--I don't care how macho you are, order a whole only if you're sharing. Paul's sandwiches are automatically made on a chewy and crusty french bread, unless you choose another option. Some people love it but it's not my style. A half egg salad sandwich would be a complete meal for most people- $6., 3 stars. The egg salad itself was okay, but I probably wouldn't like it on its own. A small antipasto salad is a light lunch -- $6, 4 stars. Nice presentation with a swirl of salami and olives on top, moderate amount of sliced deli meat, light touch with the dressing. Not great for large parties--there's only one "big" table, and it seats six.

I've been coming to this place since I was about 8 YEARS OLD (approximately 1982.) I don't live in Westminster anymore, but was in the neighborhood and dropped in to get a meal and enjoy some nostalgia and memories. I probably stop by about once a year, because I still feel connected to this place. The decor hasn't changed much, and is now outdated, but the AMAZING QUALITY of the food remains unchanged. There's nothing like an authentic, home-cooked pasta meal, and the amount of fresh turkey that they put into their sandwiches will surprise you. Sure, the place is certainly Old School, but you'll be greeted warmly, and served a meal that can't be beat.

I'm a huge supporter of businesses that supports their community. Paul's Deli not only supports the community, but they also serve great sandwiches and some delicious pastas. If this is your first time, try Paul's special if you're confused with what to order :-). Great service great food great people... can't beat :-)

OG italian sandwich shop located in the middle of Little Saigon. Who would have thunk it? This has to be one of the few places left in the area that doesnt cater to Vietnamese clients. I had been to the Tommys on the corner by here many times and never once did I think an italian sandwich shop was located near there. The sandwiches come in 2 sizes, 8 inch and 16 inch. I ordered an 8 inch capicola. I liked the sandwich. It wasnt drowning in mayo or dressing, the bread was fresh, and it wasnt too big or heavy. I'm curious as to how their pasta dishes are. I love ravioli and its rare to find a place that serves a good version of it that is not swimming in marinara. I will be back. shout out to Gigi M for telling me about this place.

The service was excellent. The young man behind the very tall counter was extremely friendly and made some great recommendations. My husband enjoyed his sandwich (Au jus) and I enjoyed my turkey avocado. Their bread is huge! But I promise you, it'll be gone before you know it because the flavors marry so well. It would have been a 4 star, but their marinara sauce is way too seasoned and acidic. I ordered pasta for someone else and it wasn't a hit. The garlic bread was good though. I also need to take off a star because of the location. This isn't their fault, of course, but there are people in that shopping center who stand outside and will ask you for donations. I literally had a man follow me into the store and ask me to check my purse for money after I told him I didn't carry cash. So if/when I come back, I will not be going alone. Just keep an eye out ladies!

Very, very solid deli. The bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The meats were all what you'd expect from a good deli. I had the $7 Paul sub and the guy was nice to also give me my choice of pasta (I think for free!). Very cool and nice of him. Recommended if you don't want Vietnamese sandwiches or In-N-Out close by.

  • Kendra J.

Customer service was awesome. Even the guy making sandwiches chatted me up. I got the lunch special. I couldn't believe for $7 I got a gigantic sandwich, green salad and drink. I ordered the torpedo. It was amazing. The only negative is I suggest getting your cold sandwich without the Italian dressing it comes with because it turns the inside of the bread soggy. Other than that. GREAT

We stopped by this place on our way to a Yelp movie event. We had a little time but not too much before the movie started so we thought a sandwich shop would be perfect dinner option. This place reminds me of an east coast delicatessen. The gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and gave us plenty of recommendations on what to order. After a few minutes of pondering we made our decision on what to get. I ordered a traditional Hero sandwich. It had all the Italian meats with all the veggie fixings with included mayo (Which makes it a hero and not just an Italian) the sammy was quite tasty. It's what a hero should be like. They have two sandwich roll sizes. Medium and large. The medium was a good size for one. The large is enough to share its almost double the size but it's also double the price. Me lady ordered one of the Monday specials. She ordered the chicken Parmesan sammy. The sandwich came out nice and hot with provolone cheese and tomato sauce. I got lucky enough to get a bite and I think she made an excellent choice. The special came with a choice of a side of a variety of pasta salads or a potato salad along with a small drink all fir the same price as a medium sandwich. I think since we were there for the first time the gentleman behind the counter threw in a free side order for me. Which was super nice of him to do so. I will definitely go back and try another one of their variety of sandwiches. I always appreciate friendly and helpful service.

the food is insanely authentic and fresh. On a hot day get a cold sanwhich like the hero or italian. On a cold day its a must you get the meatball sandwhich. This is only the tip of the iceberg of their perfection.

Ordered the daily special to go. Linguini with huge chunks of white meat chicken in a pesto sauce, salad, garlic bread and a drink for $7.49. It was as good, if not better, than anthing I have had a high end pricy Italian place. And the staff is super friendly. I'm a new regular.

i HIGHLY recommend getting PAUL'S or the RUEBEN. Tastes BOMB. And don't forget the potato salad! COMBO FOR ABOUT 8 BUCKS, pretty sweet deal. The sandwiches are bigger than subways and quiznos. Customer service was SO good, idk what everyone else is talking about. The guy was super nice, he's been working there for over 3 years and he still loves the food--you can tell by the way he talks about it. Probably the best sandwiches I've had in very long, long time! I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I did!

No frills old school Deli, friendly staff, quick service, solid subs the way we had them as kids...the owners brother was an Olympic wrestler so you get to check out all the great sports memorabilia he has collected over the years (mostly boxing)...definitely worth a visit. The sandwiches are best eaten here but be warned...they only have 5 four seater tables, so choose your companions wisely...enjoy.

This place has it all. Great food. Loads of character. Friendly employees. It is a bit of a drive from my home, but it's worth it. I'll take this place over a Subway or Quiznos any day of the week. This place has an authentic East Coast feel. The walls are adorned with antique Boxing and Baseball memorabilia and other assorted deco, that gives this place a vibe that most soulless OC joints wish they had. I get the Reuben sandwich on rye. The bread is fresh. The meat is juicy and flavorful, and the sauerkraut is just right. At $6 for a half (which is a good sized serving) the prices are reasonable. They include a side. I get macaroni salad. It's creamy and sweet, unlike the chalky macaroni salad from lesser deli's. I put in my order online and have it ready for me when I arrive. Very convenient. I keep meaning to try their pastrami and corned beef sandwiches. I'm sure they're delicious too. But I always stick to what I love. A lot of the good deli's around here are closed for dinner. So I really like that they are open until 8. Who doesn't like a hot sub for dinner?

This place was pretty decent. I ordered the whole chicken parmesan for $12.00. HOLY ISH the thing was huge! easily could feed 2 very hungry people. The bread was so yummy, chewy inside and crispy outside. The breaded coating on the chicken was really soggy- I know it's a deli and wasn't expecting a freshly fried piece of chicken, but It was soggier than most places. The marinara was good though. Service was great! Atmosphere was busy, lots of pictures and patterns all over, eh. I'll be back to try the pastrami though!

The customer service here is phenomenal! The guy that helped us is really friendly and polite. I was very impressed with the way he took care of us and made sure we were happy with everything we ordered without sounding like a robot. He was genuinely concerned with us as happy customers. Most businesses now a days lack this kind of courtesy towards customer service. It was very refreshing. I ordered the Italian sandwich with macaroni salad on the side. The Italian sandwich was great. The bread was soft and the meats and cheese were very fresh. The macaroni salad was equally delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Turkey Cranberry sandwich and a side of the garlic pasta salad. The Turkey Cranberry sandwich was like a little piece of Thanksgiving dinner in your mouth. Very good. The garlic pasta salad was also delish. The portion size is awesome. We both got small sandwiches, which could have been split into two meals instead of one. But since we are sandwich monsters we gobbled them up! You really get a good amount of food for a good price and excellent customer service. For the cherry on top, the guy working there gave us both complimentary canollis. 4 stars all the way! Def will be back! Thanks Paul's Deli!

I think I may have found my new "go-to" sandwich place. I came here during my lunch break for the first time today and had the ruben sandwich. Omg, it was soooo frikkin good. This deli shop is located in the same plaza as Popeyes and I can't believe I never noticed it before! Nonetheless, I'm really glad to have discovered this place because I have fallen in love with the ruben sandwich here. I especially love how they put thousand island dressing in the sandwich for a lil kick of flavor. $6 for a half sub and $12 for a whole sub...it's a little bit pricier than Subway but I think it's worth it. I know I will definitely be coming back to try other sandwiches on their menu.

I've never noticed this place before yelp, even though I've gone to the Popeye's chicken right there close by. I've had it bookmarked for some time now and this Saturday I finally checked it out. I placed my order online through their website which is very convenient. You can customize pretty much anything on your order and tell them when you want it. Cool! I set my time for pickup and headed over at the appropriate time. I ordered a pastrami sandwich, a honey ham sandwich with swiss, and some stuffed pasta shells. I figured we'll eat the sandwiches for lunch and the pasta for dinner. Upon arriving at my designated time I was told my order wasn't ready..... in fact, it wasn't ready for another 25 minutes. I thought this was pretty lame and defeats the purpose of a choose your own time for pickup option. Even though I didn't complain the employee took it upon himself to give me free canolis and marinated mushrooms to make up for it, so all is forgiven. My wife and I swapped halves of our 8" sandwiches so we can try each one. I was really impressed with them. Unlike Desimone deli I could actually taste the meat. The pastrami was lean and tasty with enough mustard and pickles to pack a flavor punch. The honey ham with swiss was sooooooo good. It was loaded with sweet honey flavor and I was very impressed with it. The bread was crusty yet still soft. It didn't slice and dice my gums up like some crusty breads. The stuffed shells were great reheated. The marinara style sauce was thick and full of garlic. You only get three shells but they were huge and packed full of ricotta cheese and topped with loads of Parmesan. For $6 bucks it was better than any of the crap served at Olive Garden. It came with a side salad and garlic bread too! I put the comp'd marinated mushrooms on top of the salad and they were good. The canonlis were the best I've had. They were not burnt like the disgusting ones at Augustino's and didn't cost a fortune like the ones at Cortina's. You get three for $2 something. To summarize this is a great place to pick up fresh sandwiches and fresh Italian dishes. The place had a great locals vibe to it and the service was friendly. My only issues were the lack of ontime performance for pickup and the fact every table in the joint was covered in crumbs and food bits.... please wipe down the tables!

  • Steven L.

This is by far the best sandwiches I ever had in my life. I am so lucky I live close by here so that I can go here a lot. I go here every week and the owner knows me very well and usually make small talk with me every time I come. The owner is very friendly and seem passionate about this place. My favorite subs are the proscuitto, the italian, the chicken parmesan, and the paul's special but really almost everything here is great. Believe me, I tried them all. I would also recommend trying the cannoli and the black and white cookies. They are delicious.

Its been years since I last visited Pauls. Everything was as good or better than I remember. So why did I stop eating at Pauls? When I got up to leave I remembered why I had been away so long. Large servings that go down with ease. My meal disappeared before I knew it. If you are an avid cyclist, I recommend eating here for your carbo load.

I've been going to this hole in the wall deli for 10+ years. Their pastas are artery clogging great and daily specials never disappoint. Delicious generous sized garlic bread. The place hasn't changed much over the years and could use a little sprucing and seating is limited. Service is slow however worth the wait.

I always go to the Banh Mi place right next door and always catch myself glancing inside Paul's Deli. After reading the reviews on Yelp I was more eager then ever to try this place out with the next opportunity I got! Unfortunately...this place IMO is all hype. When a place gets a 4.5 star out of 5, you would expect a mind blowing deli, one that would be featured on the next episode of "The Best Thing I Ever Ate - Deli's." Ah I was so bummed out!! I ordered the Oven Roasted Turkey Sandwich with a side of potato salad. The service was pretty quick and the prices were pretty good. When I got my sandwich and opened it up there was a moment where I asked myself "Is this gonna be the best sandwich I ever ate?!?!" After all that anticipation, I took my first bite and guess what...dry. Granted the turkey itself was sliced to freshness and the italian sauce inside was nice and tangy, the sandwich ended up being just like any other deli sandwich. I hate to be a harsh critic but its true, I could get a sandwich like this at any other deli! The potato salad was good, but it tastes like just any other potato salad. In fact, I wouldn't mind crossing the street and grabbing a tub of potato salad from Albertson's if I had to. All in all a good place to eat. I do want to try their other options and give this place another chance. Maybe I haven't tried their best dish yet. I bet their other hot dishes like the lasagna or cuban sandwich is stellar, but for right now this place gets a 3 star in my Yelp profile.

Best Sandwich on the planet Earth. Seriously, this is by far the best sandwich I have ever had. The bread is mind blowing: crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The meats are sliced thin and are of very high quality. The American and provolone cheeses are also top notch. Fresh crisp lettuce, pickles and fresh tomato take this sandwich over the top! The service is fantastic, and they make you feel like you're part of the family. It's awesome. I drive over an hour every Saturday just to eat at Paul's. It's THAT good.

Sitting and waiting for my order....it's been almost 20 minutes. People who ordered after me are already getting their food and leaving. This is ridiculous. Ill never come again. I choose this place because of the great yelp reviews. I'm disappointed.

Pretty solid deli - at the least, seems like a decent value. Bear in mind that their "half" sandwich is an 8", and their "whole" sandwich is a 16". Right. I ordered an Italian, which came on a nice soft roll with pretty nice deli meat and good veggies. Love the julienned pepperoncini. Also, each sandwich came with a decent side of pasta, cole slaw, potato salad, etc - which was nice. My cold pasta salad with red sauce was OK, not the greatest, but it's a nice throw in for what's basically a $6-7 half sandwich. Plus they have Dirty brand potato chips. And those are delicious. So, is this place mind blowing? No, but it's still good. Is it a cut above your mass produces Jimmy John's and Jersey Mike's? Yes. I would be hard pressed to eat a lot of that stuff if Paul's was nearby. It would be good to try more items, but I'm only in Cali for a weekend, and we probably won't make it back. They have a pretty big menu of hot and cold sandwiches, plus pasta, and eveything's made to order, so I would bet there's some pretty good stuff to be found.

Subs are amazing! They have this great sauce that they put on the bread that's tangy but smooth. The place is a total guys-guy looking joint on the inside with tons of boxing memorabilia, which I loved (grew up learning to love boxing because of my dad). All the guys there were really nice. Would definitely go back and try all their stuff.

I walked in here and there were nothing but fat chicks sitting at different tables. Yeah, I think I'm in the righttttt place. The service is a tad slow but I think the Ruben I had was pretty good. The corned beef wasn't salty like the other Ruben sandwiches I've had and it was accented nicely with the mustard. The sauerkraut wasn't overpowering the other flavors from the sandwich which many Rubens fall victim too. If you eat here you can enjoy looking at all the boxing memorabilia hanging from the walls. Many of the items are signed out to Paul himself, which I thought was pretty neat.

Um, I'm a little torn on this one, hence the middle of the road rating. When I first looked at the menu board, $8 for a half, $16 for a full sandwich on it's own, no sides. Double digits for a sandwich seems a bit staggering. Doing the quick math in my head, OK, on my fingers, I eventually come to the conclusion that a full sandwich, side and drink would be over $20. Yikes!! Luckily I noticed a special that was being offered that day, half sandwich, side and drink for $6.99. Much more my speed. That'll do the trick. I make my choice, walk up to the counter (OK, here's where I veer off and realize this next statement is of no consequence, except for the vertically challenged). The counter was so high, I felt like Wilson peering over the fence. I was glad I had cash because I would have needed a chair to sign a credit card slip. The wait was long, easily 15 minutes or more, but the decor was interesting to peruse. Boxers. Not the dogs or the underwear, but the fighters. OK for the guys I guess. My sandwich comes. It's very good, and huge for a half sandwich, the macaroni salad was delicious. I can't complain about the taste. What I wasn't crazy about was the big, heavy, thick, crunchy roll it came on. For those that like a lot of bread, it would have been perfect. I'm not one of those. I don't like fighting the bread to get to the meat. Felt a little like a pitbull trying to rip and tear at a meal. Did not feel my most ladylike while eating this and was grateful I have strong teeth and was not trying to impress anyone with my gentility. May want to check into other bread options if you're like me. Except for the long wait, which may not be the norm, the service was very friendly and accommodating. Nice folks here. Several people came in and it was obvious they were well acquainted with the staff and long time customers. My advise though is only get a full sandwich if you have a family the size of the Octomom and check for specials. A tall friend to do the ordering wouldn't hurt either.

What can I say about Paul's? Probably what a local deli should be and is. They are very involved with their community and offer friendly service, and great quality sandwiches for an honest price. Every sandwich I eat here I cannot help to notice the quantity and quality of ingredients they use in each sandwich. I usually order the prosciutto sandwich and let me tell you...the meat is super soft and delicious, not hard like some places. The bread is also crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and the sandwich just melts in your mouth! This is definitely the go to spot for my deli sandwich cravings!

I've been coming here a lot more frequently and I have never been disappointed. The meatball sub is my favorite. Don't ever order a whole sandwich unless you plan on splitting it with someone. They are HUGE. Their half sandwiches are HUGE too!!! One important note: this center is SUPER GHETTO. If you can't park directly in front of the entrance, be prepared to be approached by bums and see cart-pushers everywhere. This center is probably one of the worst in westminster. Props for having the 4 types of iced tea machine. Props to the dude that works during the day that is so super nice - and always gives me free pasta salad.

FABOULOCITY + AWESOMENESS = The Paul's Deli experience This place rocks! I've been going to Paul's Deli for almost a decade now and the good food just keep on a' coming. Located in a quaint strip mall in Westminster, Paul's Deli is one of those unassuming gems hidden within the mass of fast food joints in the OC. Upon arrival you notice the charm within the store, great snap shots and sports memorialbilia adorn the walls, and a friendly staff waiting to take your order. I really love the atmosphere here, the staff is so warm and welcoming, they always ask me "how are ya' today?". The menu offers your typical Italian classics, but with an added flair and just a touch of personality. The food is prepared as you wait, all the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. I appreciate the warm and flaky bread, they must make it themseleves, IT'S SOOO GOOD! As you can tell, I am a sandwich person, in fact, some say I'm a "sandwich monster", and if I like the bread, *which I did,...loves it*, then you know this place is awesome! So my usual choice is the Hero, naturally...:) I love the capicolla, genoa salami, and cotto salami. Yeah I'm not sticking to my diet, but hey, I can not resist a good sandwhich when I taste it. I usually pair it with a nice red wine, a loved one, and hey, make an evening of it. No, just joking, but in all seriousness the food here is awesome. My other favorite item on the menu is their homemade Vegetable lasagna. Prepare to be stuffed and totally satisfied! Whatever you pick, you'll love it.

You guys are really being generous with your stars...really generous. Me anh, me hungry. I'm a neanderthal when it comes to food. I like food that's good. i don't care about the surrounding or the plating. Give me good food and i'll give you stars (generously). I really liked the guy at the counter hence the 2 stars maybe 2.5 but definitely not 3 (even though i really wanted to because from the letters paul has posted on his walls, he seems like a great person). the counter guy is nice without being overly nice but still with a hint of attitude that you need to run a deli. On the receipt: spaghetti and meatball meal comes with salad and garlic bread meatball sandwich comes with a side order (mac salad, penne, or potato salad), and a drink paul's house sandwich italian sandwich *if you have been following my yelps, you would know i'm a sandwich monster. the bread taste a little stale and chewy. the meat didn't compliment the bread and was overall just dry, bland and plain.

I moved to Long Beach a while back and I work in El Segundo now but I still find myself driving to Paul's every other month or so because the sandwiches are that good. I'm an eater, so I get a whole. My wife gets a half and she has enough for lunch and dinner later on that night. Agree with the other posts about the guy behind the counter: class act. Funny, entertaining and dedicated to service. Decor is really cool. Feels like your in "the old neighborhood" or whatever they're talking about in those east coast boxing movies.

Let me just say, that Paul's Deli is the mofuckin BOMB. The service is awesome, the atmosphere is great, but forget all that. The service could be awful and the deli could be in a dirty alley for all I care, because their sandwiches are just that good. My friends and I make a weekly drive down from Burbank/Venice respectively to get their sandwiches. Personally, I find the eggplant parm sub to be the lord of all sandwiches, but my friends all rave about the meatball. And don't forget to try the canoli and gelato! They're both great ways to top off your epic sandwich.

Bomb meatball sandwich. $6 half sub is plenty for one person! The chicken parmigiana sandwich is also really good!! Comes with a side pasta salad.

So my friend and I were in search of some new place for lunch today. I have been around the area but always forget to check out the place. I suggested chicken and rice place but those places usually all taste same. The moment we enter it's like going in a time machine to east coast New York during the "prime of boxing ", immediately surrounded by pictures and sports autographs is outstanding. The customer service is top notch and really has a pleasant atmosphere that really take pride in the quality of food. The lunch special are good for a quick bite and is complete meal in itself. If you are really hungry u can go for the 16" sandwiches which look way too big. So if you are tired of the same franchise type places, Paul's is the place to be for sumthing unique and delicious

Thanks Yelpers for recommending this place! I was looking for a good comfy sandwich place and this place did the trick! Would have never discovered this place if it weren't for Yelp! It's in an old, dumpy strip mall in an area I'd otherwise avoid. However, once inside, you're transported to a cute, Italian deli with pics of boxers on the walls. Very clean, kept with tables, chairs and a tv showing the local news. Had a yummy roasted turkey sandwich. Best part, shredded lettuce!!! Yum!! And on Squaw bread! Double yum!!! The guy behind the counter taking my order was very friendly and attentive, even offered me a complimentary plate of pasta! It was good but of course I couldn't finish it after my sandwich. No restroom though. I didn't ask but there weren't any in clear view. Cute place! Will def. b back!

I was sad to say that this place wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. I ordered the turkey sandwich. It came with the normal sandwich fixings. The bread wasn't too soft. It was crusty which I'm not a big fan of. The sandwich was missing something. Maybe some dressing or a different type of mayo but I left a bit disappointed. I also ordered the pasta salad as my side. I liked it. Good dressing on it. Maybe I should've put some of that dressing on my sandwich... The food was decent. I was just expecting something better. Friendly service though.

For some odd reason i didnt really like it as much after reading all the good reviews. For the most part i didnt really like the bread as much. i had the tuna and my friend had the meatball and honey ham. Maybe it is just me...was hoping this place could replace Earls of Sandwich in Vegas. I will try again and see how it goes.

You may be asking yourself, as I often do when reading glowing reviews of a long-established neighborhood hole-in-the-wall - are all the 5-star ratings from Yelpers who have a sentimental love for Paul and his deli, or those with fond memories of eating there as a youngster, or peeps who just don't know what a truly great plate of pasta should taste like - OR - are they totally justified because Paul's Deli is 100% legitimate awesomeness? Its the awesomeness, trust me. For many years, I worked just down the street from Paul's, and my coworkers and I would go there all the time. Whether you were in the mood for a plate of pasta, a salad, or a killer sandwich, Paul always delivered. Some days, we were so busy, we could not leave. We would phone in a big order, and Paul himself would deliver it. It was always fantastic, always savory, always fresh, always consistently great. I haven't been to Paul's in 5 years, having moved down to Costa Mesa, and almost never being in Paul's neighborhood. Yesterday, my wife and I were in the area and trying to decide between banh mi and pho, when I remembered Paul's. We pulled up and I was relieved to see that nothing had really changed. The Mrs. couldn't decide between a sandwich and pasta, so I asked if we could try a little marinara. The Mrs. is a horrendous marinara snob, and simply won't eat bad marinara. She tried the spoonful of Paul's marinara, and her eyes widened and she she proclaimed it "legit." We ordered the pasta special, penne with chicken and spaghetti and meatballs. Always a good sign when it takes 10-15 minutes to get your food - they were making it fresh, and damn - it was better than I remembered. The chicken breast was moist and juicy, the pasta perfectly cooked, the sauce robust, and the garlic bread crusty and soft in the middle. The spaghetti and meatballs were equally great, with superbly flavored meatballs that were the star, not an afterthought. You could really taste the fresh seasonings. I'm not sure when we'll next be up there, but when we are, I'll introduce the Mrs. to Paul's hero sandwich - my old favorite. If you haven't been to Paul's check it out - for a small neighborhood Italian deli, Paul's really is as good as it gets.

I recently tried Pauls deli and I'm addicted! The subs are huge with very fresh meats and cheese. A half is 8 inches and a whole sub is 16 in! They have daily specials with a hot entree item (usually pasta that comes with delicious garlic bread&side salad) or a half sub (comes with a pasta salad). Each day is a different pasta & sub and its only $7! I got the Monday special of ravioli (see pic) and it was sooo good! It came with 5 big pieces of ravioli and the tomato sauce was very flavorful. The sauce was a bit spicy which added a great kick to it! It also came with two big slices of warm & crispy garlic bread! I've also tried the Paul's special sub, chicken alfredo, and chicken parmesan with spaghetti. Everything was delicious and fresh!

I had the Reuben w/ both corned beef and pastrami. Called it in and it was ready by the time I got there. For 7 bucks it is a killer lunch. While I enjoy Jerry's Deli this is a great alternative and a lot closer to home. With a side of peppers, my afternoon was made.

I have been to this deli twice and this time I want to give my opinion about the place. Service is with a smile. You feel right at home as if you have been coming here your whole life. That in itself is reason #1 to come to this place. I really love the sandwiched I ordered. It was the Paul Special. I can't remember all that was in it but I sure do remember the taste it had. Something about the vinegar they put in it distinguishes this deli sandwich from other deli sandwiches. So So tasty! This is reason #2 to come to this place. Finally, the walls are covered with Boxing Greats and most are autographed! Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Muhammad Ali to only name a few. If you have no taste for delis the pictures on the wall alone are worth the visit. It's like a mini museum. Oh and I'm sure you will find something you will really enjoy! This is reason #3 to come to this place. Well there you have it. 3 reasons to visit this place. ENJOY! Oh and if you go drop me a note and tell me who your favorite boxer is:)

This Italian sandwich deli is the real deal. Came here 15 years ago.. was In the area had to see if they were still open. They are! First of all these sandwiches are great! From the meat to the cheese to the bread!! Way better than subway! I had the house special..a cold deli sandwich and the sausage with red sauce. Both were great. The sausage was super filling with a great flavor that won't be found at most places. This is a small family business and they are so friendly and welcoming. I love the little Italian look they have inside. I will be back very soon. If you are in the area check them out. Wayy better than the average sandwich place. Oh your sandwich also comes with a small side of pasta or salad. They have a 8" or 13". I like to eat and the 8" filled me up.

I had a lunch delivery today and was driving back when I saw this place. Of course someplace touting that they had the best Italian Subs in the OC deserved my watchful and discerning palate. Plus, lets face it, I have to see if they stack up! We walked in and the place is tiny and a line was forming out the door. A good start. I like a place with a steady following. I ordered the meatball sub ($8) and my mom got their italian ($8) I expected for those prices the sandwich to A) be spectacular and B) come with sides. Since I sell my sandwiches a la carte for less and my lunch boxes sell for about $2 more. Our food comes out and I sit down to partake. The bread is very good (Because I use the same bread for my italian sammys) but what I didn't like is that the sauce from the marinara makes it soggy very fast. Their meatballs tasted packaged, but I did like their marinara. It was very good. My moms Italian was skimpy on meat and just had vinegar and a smattering of lettuce and tomato. That's it. Where's the beef? Anyway, the sandwiches are descent, yes. But, are they better than mine? NO!!! The closest that has come to mine so far has been Bay Cities in SM. I

I'm sitting here reading the reviews while chomping on my half of a 16" Italian sub.....(taking another bite...)...I meant to eat 1/2 of my 1/2 and save the rest for later...but it's mighty tasty. Sometimes I think we should be able to rate the reviewers. Seriously. Someone actually compared this fresh deli to Subway...and was disappointed?? And another questioned the price. 16" Italian sub, packed with thinly sliced, fresh, Italian deli meats stacked on for $13 even. That's .82 cents an inch. Subway puts two slices of processed meats in your 6", fat packed white floured mostly all bread sandwich and that's why you're getting a great deal. Anyway, I agree that this WAS (I just took my last bite) one of the best Italian subs I've had in a long time. It's close to work, so I'll be back!

A sandwich is a hungry man's best friend. Well, in my case, make that a hungry girl's best friend. The sandwiches here are great. It is a bit pricier than Togo's or Subway, but paying a little extra for better ingredients is understandable, right? The meats are good and the bread is decent. I think the Cuban here is also decent. It's not the best, but there are not many shops around that have Cuban sandwiches, so I guess I'll settle for Paul's. The shop is also really cool. There are some tables so you can dine in if you want. The theme seems to be centered around sports. There is also a TV in the corner. Also, you can order online on their website. Pick up your food in about 20 minutes. This makes it super convenient. Good sandwiches? Sports? Sounds like an awesome shop to me!

A local favorit, and a solid four.5. The sandwiches were great, and the meats taste like something homemade in a place far far away, honed to perfect by some old man who dedicated his life to bring me... this sandwich. How could you not love the care, attention to detail, the tradition, and above all, the friendly staff. These guys go the extra mile, and Jr, thanks for the free side of pasta salad!! A great sandwich experience.

Surprisingly, I have never been here for the last 9 years that I have lived in Westminster. (Thank you yelp) My friend and I came here to grab some lunch before heading to class, but man, we sure overfilled ourselves here. I got the lasagna, and my friend got the reuben sandwich. My lasagna came with a salad and 4 big pieces of garlic bread. The salad's dressing was a light purple color and i think has a really authentic italian flavor. It was good, but I just wish my salad wasn't so drenched in it it though. The garlic bread is awesome. Even though it was just regular bread with garlic spread over it, I love how soft and crisp the breads are. My lasagna was pretty good. Not too many places can make good marinara sauce, but Paul's Deli makes some pretty good sauce. Although the lasagna was good, it wasn't the best I have had. The ricotta cheese kind of threw me off because I expected it to be warm and melting, but it was still cold. The ruben sandwich is pretty good. The meat is tender, and the thin rye bread is soft and crisp. The only thing I didn't like is the strong mustard taste. I'm not really a fan of mustard, so this sandwich doesn't appeal to me much. I would come back here to try other stuff, but I wouldn't order the lasagna or the reuben sandwich again. Not because it wasn't good, but because it's just not my preference.

WTG, Pauls! I got the corned beef, my friend got the Italian. The bread was great, plenty of meat. Half a sandwich was a great lunch. Next time i'll try a cold sandwich. Everything looked fresh and the staff is very friendly.

Normally not the type of place I'd go to in the suburbs, but yay for internet reviews! Small place, mom-and-pop feel. GREAT sandwiches - sure, you can save a few dollars at Subway/Togo's/Quizno's, but it won't taste like this. Not to mention the meat they give is layered on top flat, not folded to fool you like at most sandwich chains. I get a whole sandwich usually, slightly pricey at $12-13 (but they're 16"), and feeds me for 2 or so meals. Big plus: ordering online, pick up in 20 minutes. Avoid the lunch crowd.

I am a sucker for a family owned and operated deli, that has great food, and a fair amount of history on the walls (Boxing in this case). Their Lasagna is very good (my favorite) and their prices are very reasonable. Am a happy, repeat customer!

I concur with those reviewers who said this place is a great change from all of the Vietnamese food around. I have just felt SO sick of eating pho, bahn mi, etc. I was doing my regular yelp browsing when I saw the reviews for this place. I was EAGER to suggest a new place that was NON-vietnamese when my BF asked me where I wanted to eat after our intense workout at the high school on Saturday. I live in Garden Grove so it was a little bit of a way to drive especially with the construction and what not. We arrived and there wasn't anyone else in the place. Immediately we could hear silly music being played but it smelled SO good. I guess the cook was making eggplant Parmesan or something, it smelled absolutely delish. The place DEFINITELY reminds me of an authentic Italian owned restaurant. I think I forgot I was in So Cal for a minute and thought I got swept away to Little Italy in NYC! My boyfriend was VERY impressed with the sports memorabilia that covers the restaurant. It was very clean and the cook was extremely polite. He allowed us to go to the back and wash our hands, as we had JUST worked out. It was funny because it was like a little mini Alice and wonderland door that he opened for us to crawl through. Definitely added to the experience. I ordered a turkey sandwich on whole wheat roll with avocado and Swiss cheese. It was as plain as it should be. The ingredients were fresh and tasted right, but I ordered the WRONG thing for sure. My BF ordered a meatball sub and a grilled chicken sub. OMG, I wanted to distract him and switch our sandwiches, but he had a pretty good grip on those subs. HAHA! They were AMAZING! The bread on the meatball sandwich tasted like garlic bread! It was SO flavorful and the texture was PERFECTION! The outside was crispy and flaky and the inside was soft. The grilled chicken was seasoned SO well and the cheese was melted and complimented its flavors perfectly. We also got a back of these BOMB chips. They were something like tomato Tabasco chips, definitely kettle style. My mouth waters thinking about them. They had DIRTY brand and this other brand Zapp's, which I had never heard of and I was SORRY I hadn't! They were SO good! Because I had read so many reviews about the deli salad's, my BF and I took some to go as we had a barbeque/pot luck that we had to bring food to the next day. What a perfect opportunity to share our new discovery. We got the white macaroni pasta salad! It's SO good. Lots of vinegar and spices, definitely my favorite of them. The cook was SO kind he actually let us sample each of them so we could choose which one to buy. I LOVED this place and will DEFINITELY return. My ONLY suggestion would be NOT to order Plain Jane like I did. Next time I am getting SALAMI or that GRILLED CHICKEN YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!

I have nothing to do before bed, so I figured I would get around to writing at least one review since I have been slacking lately. With my Christmas break coming to an end and having eaten everything that I crave while I'm at school, finally decided to try Paul's and boy I'm glad that I did. Arrived here around 4:30 in the afternoon to find only 2 people inside finishing up their meal. Told Paul's son (at least I think it was his son) at the counter that this was our first time here, and without hesitation he handed us menus and offered to answer any of our questions. Decided to order the large honey ham and a small french dip and wanted to purchase some canoli's for dessert as well, but he said that they were out and told us to come back on Saturday, but that was the day I was to fly back to school. Was honest enough to tell us that they buy the shells and make their own filling, then recommended an Italian bakery close by that has great canoli's. The honey ham sandwich was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Definitely in my top 3 best sandwiches. I ate 3/4 of the large sandwich and tried my mom's french dip which was also really good. Because they didn't have canoli's, we were given 2 free side pasta salads which were also delicious. Overall, Paul's is the dank and I will never ever find anything like it here in Michigan, so I will have to wait till March.

Humble mom and pops Deli in the sketchy plaza, tons of boxing memorabilia all over the walls, good sandwiches and friendly dudes. I usually frequent here due to being so close to work and have tried most of the sandwiches and pasta which never disappoint. Favorites here are the Chicken Parmesan and the French Dip. Reasonable prices for hearty sandwiches and pastas.

This is a local treasure and long standing tradition in the area so I will be repeating what's already been said. I too believe you can truly find here the best sandwhiches in town. This place has been our GOTO spot for a yummy deli craving for years. In fact after discovering it via a friend a decade and a half ago, even when I lived in Long Beach I'd drive 10 minutes south if I craved a sandwhich. This is a deli that uses quality ingredients and puts love into their food like a good little sandwhich shop should. No lame corporate sandwhich issues here. I'm not much of jock loving gal but the owner has an incredible collection of Sports stuff on the wall. One that even impresses me! I think he rotates his collection for display. Last I was there a few weeks ago, on "exhibit" was his collection of autographed pics of boxers . I remember a big array of Angels memorabilia in years past and other stuff too. This tiny little Italian sandwhich store with the sporty stuff all over the wall has such a simple, comforting vibe to it. I wish I could say I've tried other than the sandwhiches but except for salad, I haven't. I've always intended to but I am someone who finds sandwhiches a decadent treat these days (carbs ARE the ultimate decadence so I avoid when I can) so I literally charge straight to Paul's Deli to get that. Or sometimes I get a large salad for me and only a big ole' sandwhich for my man. Live vicariously! My fave salad is the antipasto. My honey loves the Reuben or the House Special. Sandwhich-wise, I love love love the Italian, or any of the italian meat sandwhiches and I've been equally as blissful munching into my Turkey on rye squaw with provolone. I have a long standing fetish tendency to let Italian food sit a while so the flavors layer, mingle and intensify and one of these sandwhiches a few hours after ordering or even the next day is utter heaven. A sandwhich from here ALMOST compensates for the fact that the best sandwhich ever is in New Orleans. Almost....

I'm always trying new things, so I don't have any favorites yet. The atmosphere is great for sports fans, though, with all the memorabilia on the walls. Paul's Deli also sponsors our wrestling team too, so that's appreciated. It's really close to the high school; that's a plus too. The last thing I love is the feeling from those small places only locals know about, and Paul's has that. Only been there a few times so far, so I gave it 3 stars. Probably going to improve it as I eat there more.

My fiancé & I were looking for a good sandwich shop in the area & came across Paul's Deli with all the great Yelp reviews! What everyone says about portions is dead on, HUGE! My fiancé and I split the Turkey/cranberry sandwich which was pretty good but nothing to die for. We definitely want to come back & try the Italian cuisine. One thing that was a bit not the negative was the wait time...took about 20 minutes to get our food! Despite the wait, we'll be back!

I was on my way to the hospital to visit a family member and needed something quick and healthy. Key word=QUICK. So I looked this place up on yelp, saw the good reviews and looked at the menu. I called ahead and ordered some salads and sides of garlic bread to feed my hungry family who have been sitting at the hospital all day. From the time I called and was quoted 15 min to the time I walked in, it was probably 10-13 min. I checked in paid and sat down to wait. Sadly I ended up wating about 30 more min. It was unbearable and highly annoying. Other ppl came and went with their to-go orders. They must have forgotten mine. Disappointing. BUT when I finally got my food and got to the hospital to eat it- I was happy, not extactic but happy, granted I was ravenous by that time. What I had- the Italian salad- it was a half order but plenty of food. It was covered in antipasto items such as olives artichokes and pepperoncini. It also had sliced up motto and salami which were good. It was accompanied by a olive and vinegar dressing on a bed of romaine. All seemed good because it was made on the spot instead of prepackaging. One thing I did notice that bothered me was that all the food handlers were working quickly and seemed to have no regard for sanitation. The cashier was handling food which is a big no-no, none were wearing gloves and they were touching meats and handles and machines all with their bare hands. Seemed like a bad sanitation issue. Not sure if I would try this place again for that reason.

Paul...I don't know where you've been all my life, but MY GOD you make a great sandwich. After years of living in Southern California, I'd kind of given up on finding a GREAT Italian deli. We have plenty of "good" ones, but the greats, like we had on the East Coast, well, let's just say there are compromises one makes when one gives up winter and snow. But, I only thought that because I'd not yet been to Paul's. This place is the real deal - not just one of the best deli subs I've had in Orange County, but up there with one of the best I've had period. Stopped in there for lunch today, as I happened to be in the area, and treated myself to the Sunday special (turkey sub, a side salad, and a coke) for $6.50. Husband got the chicken parm sub. Both sandwiches were outta sight. Turkey was piled high, served with provolone, and the crusty bread on the outside provided just the right crunch, while the soft center soaked up the Paul's-made dressing. Delicious! The chicken parmesan - which was HUGE, and he ordered the small - was fresh, tasty whole chicken breast, with the tangy sauce settling into the soft bread similarly - perfect chicken sandwich. Salads were AOK, service was fast...can't wait to come back and try their Italian sub. Very high quality, very good sandwiches, and frankly - worth the drive.

Paul's Deli is the epitome of perfection. I have a strange undying love towards ma and pa restaraunts and the minute I set foot in here it felt like home (home as in somewhere I belonged, not my actual home. Yes, there's a difference!) Of course I ordered a sandwich, tuna to be exact. My boyfriend ordered the special which consisted of a piping hot plate of cheese raviolli, two massive slices of garlic bread, and a side salad all under 6 dollars! The decor makes it feel straight out of New York, the two employees arguing awkwardly loud in the back also fit the scene.

Wow. This place is awesome. While travelling for work, I jumped on Yelp to find a non-Asian lunch spot in the area. Not that there's anything wrong with Asian, just felt like a simple sandwich. Based on other positive reviews, we decided on Paul's Deli. And we were not disappointed. Immediately after you walk in this place, you know it's going to be legit. The wonderful smells of the deli hit you as soon as you walk in the door. At lunch time two different groups of local police officers were having lunch, which was also a good sign. The guys behind the counter were super helpful. After letting them know it was our first time, we were given laminated menus and also talked through the daily specials. I don't think you could go wrong with any sandwich option in this place, seriously. Both the hot and cold sandwiches sounded fantastic. I decided on the capicola sandwich on wheat roll. Delicious. The bread was soft and delicious. Didn't scrape up the roof of my mouth (which happens at so many sandwich places). The lunchmeat was "fresh" and very delicious, as were the other condiments. I really liked the italian dressing that was on the sandwich too. The only thing missing: I guess I would have liked some hot giardinera (I'm from Chicago), but it was delicious even without it. My companions ordered an Italian, a roast beef, and a tuna. Everyone was really happy with their sandwich. We'll be in the area for several months. I can tell you already that this will be at least a once-per-week lunch spot.

Great service and good food. The fresh ingredients used are what I think makes the food here so delicious. I've tried the prosciutto cold sandwich. Amazing! The pastas are all tasty and filling as well. Overall, great Italian style foods with a neat atmosphere. One tip I would like to mention is that it gets busy during the lunch hour so call ahead for your order or order online.

Pauls may be a little better than Subway, but not much. Decided to drive from HB for a change from my favorite, DeSimones, here on Edinger. Ordered a reuben, very typical..nothing extraordinary for mom. I got the french dip which would have been alright except the tough microwaved french roll. I hat e my bread microwaved! Sis got the roasted turkey and only ate half......deli turkey was what she got and not impressed. Too bad Portero is a little bit of a drive. De Simones is still the best!

Pauls deli consistently delivers great food at reasonable prices. Their roasted pork sandwhich is hot with melted provolone cheese and perfectly seasoned. On wednesdays it is the special and comes with pasta salad and a drink for 6.99. The bread is fresh and crusty on outside and soft on the inside. Their pasta dishes are equally yummy. Its located in a strip mall in between a vietnamese lunch place and a a computer shop. The owner paul and his son matt have run the place for years and when they are not there it is efficiently run by jose who is so frindly.

I love this place! I'm from northern Italy and I am a super Prosciutto fanatic. I love their Prosciutto subs. I was honestly impressed by the taste, i immedietly fell in love with it and come here often My daughter loves the penne pasta but i only come here for prosciutto! always fresh and always delish!!, the man that makes me my bubs is such a sweetheart and is always so nice to me, great service and delicious subs. i really reccoment prosciutto it melts in your mouth! The decor inside, it looks like a small traditional Italian hole in the wall restaurant filled with old boxing photographs mostly autographed to the owner "paul" i think it's pretty amazing! This is definitely a diamond in the rough, it's a hidden gem in westminster, great food and environment, but that's only if you love Italian subs and pastas and love the small hole in the wall environment. great for a quick lunch but i don't reccoment taking a date here. I love this place, maybe because i am from Italy and i love prosciutto. If you are Italian and love this kind of food then yes i highly reccomend it. If you are a vietnamese banh mi fan or if you like american sandwiches you might not like it. 5 stars for me!

VERY GOOD. Here's the breakdown: PROS: Very fresh meats French Dip: Tender roast beef, perfectly seasoned dip. 2nd to Phillipe's in LA! OKs: Macaroni Salad CONS: Vinaigrette in the Hero Sandwich. But then again, I don't like ANY vinaigrettes. The kid that helped us told us they had mac and cheese so we ordered ever so excitedly. Turns out it was macaroni salad..

You gotta visit this place based on the friendliness alone! Go ahead. Try it. YOu'll see what I mean. Whether it's Paul himself or Matt or whoever, you're sure to get the best service everytime!! Everything is super fresh and super good. Things I've tried: meatball sandwich, torpedo, turkey & cranberry (it's a sleeper), corned beef sandwich, Paul's special sandwich, and the homemade lasagna. Like I said, everything is great! When ordering a sandwich, best to stick with a "half" because the whole is ridiculous (and I've got an appetite). Another really cool thing is that you can order your sandwich or pasta online and come in and pick it up. Really nifty! pauls-deli.com

Like everyone else has been saying, don't get a whole. I usually get either the Paul's Special, Hero, or the Turkey and Cranberry sandwich. I also always get an order fo the Red Pasta side salad. It's served cold and I think they add olive oil to it which makes it all the better. The deli is a small mom and pop storefront. The staff is really nice and courteous. They even take credit card and don't require a minimum charge like most small places!

was in there area today and searched yelp and this was the only thing that came up that wasnt vientimise and it sounded good. I ordered the meatball sandwich small and it was plenty and was very good. Id definlty order it again. They got some really good bags of chips also.

Looks like most reviewers have the right idea here. Paul's is a no-brainer if you're in the area. The sandwiches can be compared with east coast sandwiches - fresh ingredients and proper taste combinations. The staff, as many have noted, treat customers like family. Paul's is a good example of a family business run with love - every time I'm there I feel like I'm sitting down for dinner at his house. Couple things to note: -Lasagna special on Friday is the ticket, but it's humongous with dual garlic breads. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. -Get a half sandwich, not a whole. They're huge. -Do use the pepper jar by the register. They're pickled and they create just the right offset for the Paul's Special or the House Special sandwich. -The meatloaf sandwich has honey mustard on it - and it actually works. Mmmm!

This is the best place for a fresh sandwich. I read some reviews on Yelp and checked out the website. They have the best ordering system online, very easy and detailed (type of bread, type of cheese, and condiments) and an extra comment box for additional instructions or add ons. It was ready for pick up in 10 minutes and the drive is not far either. I got the Tuna sandwich w/avocado on rye...a pretty heavy, big, fresh, and perfectly assembled sandwich. When I entered the deli, the staff was really really sweet. The decor is warm filled with framed photos, collectibles and a few letters from the Mayor thanking them for donating food to charities. The quality and warmness of the place will always keep me coming back. Mahalo,

This is what sandwich shops are supposed to like. The ambiance is sports-themed, lots of memorabilia on the wall. And the stuff is signed by the boxers themselves and addressed to Paul personally. That's cool. The food is top notch. The specials never let you down, neither does the selection. Plus they'll make you whatever you want. The meat and cheese is quality and the food is consistent. And the portions! Paul says you won't be hungry, and he's right, its massive. Lots of good food at great prices. The staff is awesome, courteous, attentive, and friendly, even Paul, when he's there. In all the years I've gone, they've never messed up my order. With Paul's Deli I don't see why anyone would eat a Quizno's or Subway. Or even a Togo's for that matter. It's worth the trip if you're craving sammich. Only negative is that they charge a dollar or something to use a debit card. So bring cash.

I'm so glad I finally decided to try Paul's Deli. The service is super friendly. My sandwich was huge, delicious, and fairly priced. I got the small or I think they call it "half" and it was more than enough. Decor & menu & pics of food on the walls are a little old & shabby, but I didn't go there for all that stuff.

Sunday was the first time that I've had Paul's and I loved it. :) It was a two-minute debate on whether I should order online and pick it up or do it in person. I chose to go there and do it the old-fashioned way. It's great how they have the internet option. I got the 8" grilled chicken sandwich and the penne pasta, the boyfriend got the 8" steak with the penne pasta, and we shared a large Sprite. Two people for the price of a little more than 14 bucks. The wait was a good ten minutes or more. But I enjoyed spying at the two employees from the outside and seeing how attentive they were as they cooked the steak in the pan and neatly adding the stuffing into each bread. The tenderness of the chicken with the lettuce and tomatoes and only a hint of mayo (I'm so happy they didn't overdo it) satisfied my morning taste buds. The steak was flavorful, maybe a little bit too much, but it was still good. The pasta was pretty decent, cold and moderate in taste. Nothing spectacular. The biggest complaint I have is how hard the bread was. It almost cut my lip. Despite this, Paul's Deli is well-deserving of their five stars. When I walked in and see the amount of boxing memorabilia hanging on the walls, it was so sentimental ... I'm a sucker for businesses like this. Being around for more than thirty years, I hope it will stay until I hit thirty, and beyond. I will be back this Sunday. Or Saturday. For breakfast.

A true diamond in the Rough!! I had no idea this place was here. A co worker and I were on lunch looking for an ATM machine and stumbled into Paul's. Soon as we hit the door we knew we were in for good eats. The sweet aroma of fresh meats, stewed tomato sauce and the inviting old style Italian ambiance was enough to make us take a seat. I ordered a half chicken parm sandwich and OMG my mouth was in heaven. I could taste the love in the food and the fresh garlic in the sauce. I ordered a half sammy which was so huge it had to be cut again. The prices were GREAT and the workers were so cool. Made you feel real comfy I def will be back. Sure beats Subway's B.S. five dollar nasty dirt tasting subs any day!

  • Eric D.

Best subs in town! Get the Paul's special and be sure to say hi. Friendly staff and great service. Be prepared to wait a bit during lunch time as people come from all over the OC to eat here. Also, Check out the great photos of the fighters on the wall!

This really hits the spot when you are hungry. I usually get 8" Paul's special with a side of potato salad and a small drink. Its like a orgasm of flavors in your mouth. I recommend this to anyone who is hungry and wants a great sandwich. The wait is kind of slow, but then you know its made fresh. Which is a good trade-off in my opinion.

  • Tyler M.

Have to say that Pauls is one of my craving spots now. If I want a good sandwich out of the norm of Subway this is the place to be. Serving size is pretty good enough of a small sandwich for my wife and myself. The fresh made mac and potato salads are pretty good also. The bread is super crunchy and that is one of my pluses about Paul's. Parking is kind of rough here (tight) and there is much for A/C inside the deli itself so it makes it hard to enjoy on a summer day. Other then that....perfect.

After reading the reviews on Paul's deli, we decided to give this place a try. It is nicer inside that I thought it was going to be. The guys working behind the counter were nice. It took a while to get our food and there was only one other couple ahead of us. Our wait gave us more than enough time to check out all the boxing memorabilia. I thought it was a great way for Paul to showcase his collection and it gives the place a personal touch. The food is decent.....nothing special. We ordered: Fettuccini Alfredo with garlic bread and side salad, which was average. Meatball sandwich was good, but my man was disappointed that they didn't make the potato salad that came with it. My man prefers Wolfies Deli down the street.

I have used this deli twice for lunches for my office. The food is always ready on time when I order the day before. The sandwich platter is delicious. (I don't think it's on the menu, but they will make you a platter full of sandwiches if you ask them to.) I ordered a platter for 7 people and there were more than enough yummy sandwiches. Their antipasto salad is really good too.

My BF and I decided to try this place after reading all of the great reviews. Unfortunately I was disappointed almost the moment I walked through the door. The atmosphere is cool. All kinds of neat pictures on the walls. This earned them their 1 star. I walked up to the counter and was immediately turned off by the meats I saw. Obviously cheap and processed and just sort of sad looking. Nevertheless, I was here and going to give it a try I ordered the house sandwich. Yuck. There was one piece of each kind of meat, so a total of 3 slices of meat. Come on, really??? The bread was OK but it didnt seem like they made it there. If they do, it was day or more old. the sides were awful, i'm sure theyre pre made and not very good at that. I'm sitting in this place thinking how all these yelpers are saying this is the best sandwich place in the OC? Am I nuts or do yelpers have horrible taste?! Maybe it was an off day but what I got was pathetic. I would have rather eaten at subway (which I think is pretty bottom shelf as far as sandwiches go). I paid close to 10 dollars for the worst sandwich Ive ever had. NOW, if any of you want a truly delicious sandwich, go to DeSimones on Edinger and Goldenwest in HB. Their bread is fresh and most of their meats are made in house. You get the same friendly atmosphere and I guarantee one of the best sandwiches youve ever had. Sorry Paul, your place was an epic fail in my book.

I frequent this place once a week or so and the food and service never disappoint me. They have daily specials (either a pasta or a sandwhich).. Today i had my favorite sandwhich, the roated pork, and it was on special...yay for me. The pork is actually pork slices, not deli meat, and is served warm on a crusty bread with melted provolone cheese, tomatoes and some special dressing. The special comes with a drink and a side pasta salad for $6.99. It's located in a strip mall behind popeye's fried chicken, so you have to enter from either Goldenwest or Westminster and then drive around back. This place if family owned and run all the employees, especially jose, are very helpful and friendly. They always greet you and seem genuinely happy to have your business. Oh and their canolli's are really good too.

after hearing so many great things about Paul's deli, i had to give it a try for myself, to see what this foodgasm everyone's been spewing was about. so i get inside, and it's everything it's been advertised. sports memorabilia plastered everywhere on the walls, it was very cozy. and yes, it is a deli in every sense of the word. i couldn't really decide what to order but decided on "honey ham" sandwich cuz it sounded delicious at the time... and sho' 'nuff! it was 8 inches of heaven! NO HOMO! the ham was sliced and cooked to perfection and drizzling with honey. the bread was perhaps the best bread from a sandwich shop i have ever had. idk what Paul put in it, coke, maybe. holyshit, was that thing tasty and a half!! Paul's deli made an awesome first impression that's going to last forever. I took home a take-out menu. i will be back. maybe later for dinner!

My bf and I decided we had a tingling taste for Italian sandwich, so we went on line to see what was near in our area. Next thing you know Paul's Deli pop up and we were on our way. Customer service was great and the place look super cool, with all the boxing champs (my bf and I totally dig that wall). Even though we had our sandwiches with wheat bread the taste was phenomenal!!!! Totally hit the spots in our tummy! Not only that the guy (sorry next time we'll get ur name) that help us gave us pasta on the side, whooooot whooooot delicious! Not only that if u don't know what to get they'll make sure what's best for u :D

Methinks this place is over hyped. I had the italian sausage sandwich and my wife had the meatball sandwich. The marinara sauce was very good, but the meat in both was kind of meh. There has got to be a better place than this (other than Cortinas!)

Who knew there'd be such a great find in Westminster (of all places)? You'll find this gem of a deli in a small strip mall, right next to a Popeye's (blech!) and some random discount store with faded detergent in the window. Inside, you'll find some of the best deals on sandwiches (I've heard the BLT is to-die-for) and hot entrees. I've only gone there for lunch, and I typically order the lobster ravioli because I can't get over how delicious it is (and what a steal it is!). For less than $8, you get fresh ravioli stuffed with Maine lobster meat. Along with this, you get a side salad and two extra-long pieces of garlic bread. Yum! Matt (Paul's son) is sure to greet you along with your order, and he as well as the food will get you to come back in. He's clearly proud of what his family has founded, and he should be. It's good stuff!

I have heard about Paul's Deli for years and have never gone there up until yesterday. I was going out to dinner and my son was staying behind but wanted a Deli type sandwich so I took him there. The sandwich was delicious and so fresh! He ordered just a basic small Turkey and Cheese (the small was like a large) which came with a side of pasta salad. I tasted both and I was very impressed. The interior is your basic deli with great pics of old time boxers and athletes. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other sandwiches and Italian dishes.

This is the kinda place that you walk into and know it's going to be awesome, just from the homie decor and the personality that just jumps right off the walls. The boxing portraits and the pictures that give off a feeling of history really gives Paul's a definite character that I LOVE about tiny sandwich shops or any shop I yelp about. Paul's is probably one of the very few sandwich places that i will give my hungry heart to (as i write that last bit of the line, the song "Hungry Heart" is blasting in my room...oh Bruce, how your songs go perfectly with my Yelp reviews). Simply just tasty! From the bread that is nicely toasted to the point where there is that beautiful/painless crunch in the mouth, to the delicious deli meats that make you salivate and want more more more! I would call myself a regular, but the place is quite the distance to go for a sandwich, however i will definitely pop my head back in when i make my trips to Art Supply Warehouse. Hazzah! For sandwich lovers!

So I know everyone raves about this place having great sandwiches but I thought I'd be a little adventurous and tried the chicken parmigiana and was delightfully surprised when it came out pretty decent. The bf got the meatball sandwich and said it was good. The workers were friendly and you can tell the locals who came in were regulars. The price was reasonable as well. I am definitely coming back to Pauls and next time I'll try a sandwich. They also have daily specials so if you can't decide, just order the special and consider it fate if you like it.

As soon as I walked into this place I was an instant fan of Paul's Deli. The guy behind the counter was this super funny Italian dude who was the son of the owner (Paul). My girlfriend and I had a Ruben and the Hero. Both were really tastey and if you're really hungry try finishing a whole sandwich. A whole is about 16 inches, and a half was actually a full slice of bread. Large portions, and he even hooked it up with free pasta,. He insisted we try both the white and red sauce pastas, so he packaged them up for us a gave them to us to take home.

I guess my own mother used to come here as a teen and she still loves it. I have had the egg salad and the chicken salad and they both are delish! The people who work there are always super sweet and offer complimentary pasta salad or potato salad. My mom and me split the half sandwich because it is the size of a full sandwich and they always split it for us and give us two complimentary sides=) Reasonable pricing and great food. Also, high five for giving such great customer service- I always appreciate nice people!

Pro(s): Flavorful food, diverse menu, rather large portions, friendly employees, place with personality Con(s): Cramped, long wait time, chaotic lunch rush ----- This is my go-to place for Italian food. I'd eat all my meals at Paul's if it were open early enough for breakfast, really. Paul's Deli is a modest, family-owned restaurant that can easily be underestimated by it's exterior. There isn't anything special about it on the outside and the location isn't the most friendly looking. However, customers are blasted with boxing photos and autographs from professional boxers (Paul's brother was an Olympic boxing champion), aside from the friendly smiles from the staff. I've actually met Paul and his children (Who help run the restaurant) and I are on first-name basis, they are so nice! Paul's definitely has personality to match it's quality food. Even though there is a pretty long wait for pasta dishes, they're worth waiting for. Everything is made fresh and when you order. The food is also very filling, as pasta dishes include garlic bread and a salad with your choice of dressing and the sandwiches are stuffed with goodies. However, if you don't like waiting for your food, I suggest calling ahead and ordering before you get there. Based on my experiences, they are very good with having the orders ready on time. If you have a special order, Matt will make sure everything is the way you want it.

OMG I am obsessed with the Roasted Turkey Sandwich with Cranberry Sauce on sliced Squaw bread.... I have been there 4 times now... You will probably start to see a pattern with me at this point... I find a dish I LOVE, eat the same thing for a couple weeks straight... then move on... But I have to say this Sandwich is going to be a regular part of my life. I've made it a tradition to order it on all my away game days. I Coach at the high school around the corner, and love having my sandwich on the bus. I met 'Paul' the other day and asked to shake his hand! He's a cool guy! You can't miss him, he's got a gold necklace with a 'P' around his neck... anyway... go there... get fat... worth it :)

I had an Italian sub from this place and it was large, fresh ingredients, and tasty. For me, the Italian bread was just a bit too dry. I liked the meats, cheese, and various toppings, though. Cool boxing stuff on the walls. Clean, friendly place, with a large and varied menu. I'll definitely go back.

After seeing the review here, we at my workplace decided to give this place a try. We came at an off-peak time (1300). Apparently the place offers daily specials. Of note: ravioli on Mondays and lasagna on Fridays. My two coworkers both tried the Monday special--ravioli--while I tried a house special, half-size. We sat down and waited a few minutes while they made magic in the back. The nice man behind the counter told us that the ravioli "would be right out; it's in the oven right now": green flag! Let me tell you, I was not expecting the size of a sandwich that I got. I had enough $7, ~12" sandwich to last for two meals. I was even given a taster of seasoned penne to try out (for free!); it was a little too herby for my tastes, but it went very well with a mouthful of sandwich. The bread, while not the best I've had, was itself very competitively decent in my tiers of sandwich-bread. Their meats were tasty and flavorful, and their cheeses were just sharp enough to take my notice. One of my coworkers gave me his salad; it was good, the tangy italian dressing a welcome complement to the sandwich. The staff are courteous and friendly, and the restaurant's atmosphere itself was very, very relaxing at the time we arrived. When I asked for a box, the fellow just asked me to bring my sandwich up so that he could wrap it for me. You simply can't put a price on service like that. I'll definitely be visiting this establishment again. Perhaps next time, I'll try the ravioli that my coworkers were so pleased with.

Good, solid sandwiches. I have tried the chicken parmesan, roast pork and Paul's special. All of them were pretty good. The french bread can be a little messy to eat as it flakes off, try changing the bread up. All in all, pretty delicious.

I never get tired of eating here. I love the squa bread it is the best. I prefer to eat here over subway because of the freshness of the ingredients. I recommend the meat loaf sandwich and the paul special on squa bread. :)

I have only been here once and it was a few months ago. The deli is small and the atmosphere is casual. Lots of neat pictures and collectible things on the wall, just fun stuff to look at while you wait for your food. I got the roast beef sandwich and boy was is delicious. The meat and bread was extremely fresh and tasty! I can't remember exactly what size sandwich I ordered, but I usually get a smalll/6inch at Subway or Quiznos so I assumed I ordered the same size. However my sandwich was HUGE! It even came with a small side of macaroni salad. My meal was around $6 bucks and that included a drink (might have been a special of the day). Anyway this place blows all those franchise sandwich shops out of the water. Pricing on sandwiches is just about the same as those franchise shops however quality and taste is waaaaay better!

I live really close to this place and never knew it was there. I go to Popeye's all the time and Paul's is about 3 doors away. I visited at about 4:00 PM and the place was empty(usually, not a good sign). I would probably have gone to Popeye's again if not for the reviews on yelp. Paul's has been there 31 years and with good reason, It has great sandwiches. I had a large corned beef that was two sandwiches since it wasn't on a roll. The beef was lean and tender with large portions on both sandwiches. It was well worth it at 11$ & change. I was going to my mom's so I picked up a french dip that was huge! Again lean tender beef, thinly sliced and great Au Jus. It was 11 something also and twice the size of a foot long from subway and ten times better. The marinated mushrooms were as good as they get. I will eat here much more now and with online ordering you can't beat it. I would give it 41/2 stars. I talked with Paul's son who was really great and an asset to the business.

First off let me say that Paul Deli does not make a 6" sandwich as I have read on a few Reviews... the do an 8" and a 16" sandwich on fresh baked bread that absolutely crushes other sandwich places. Ask for a 6" as I occasionally do without thinking about it and "Paul" or his son "Matt" will remind me that I have been eating here for 10 years and should know by now that the sandwich is an 8" lol...... Their meats are fresh, cheese is fresh, pasta side salads (red and white) are out of this world good with delicious flavor. The Italian dressing they use on most sandwiches is great, the Sicilian chicken is awesome, and pretty much everything you get here is made with love and care. They offer dishes like fettuccine alfredo and lasagna (homemade every day and still in the white casserole dish) for reasonable prices. If you have to spend more than $10 to get full here you are a beast since I am tipping the scales at 300lbs and I get full off of one sandwich and a side salad. The service is the best in OC and they really make you feel the way a business who appreciates their customers should. The sports memorabilia on the wall adds a great ambience to the little shop and many of the fighters pics that are on the wall are local products from the Westminster Boxing Club down the street. There is not much room to sit and eat during lunch as it gets ridiculously crowded on a daily basis. Another indication of how much locals and Yelpers alike love this place. There is one more thing I left out about Paul's.... DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONE WHILE ORDERING BECAUSE PAUL HATES IT AND THINKS IT IS VERY RUDE....... he will politely ask you not to do this and there s a sign posted on the counter about this. I never thought much of this policy until the last time I went to Paul's and saw some girl obnoxiously doing this and ignoring the person taking her order while she was wrapping up her call and there were 2 people in line behind her. Please respect this place and treat them as they would treat you because few places treat their customers as good as Paul's.

I almost feel like I'm betraying all the locals that have kept Paul's Deli a secret to themselves, but I can't keep this place a secret any longer. Their main attraction seems to be the sandwiches that local workers come in for on a daily basis. Sandwiches here are made for people who like to eat sandwiches; NOT a couple of pieces of bread, a bunch of lettuce and one slice of some cold cut. Trust me, just order a sandwich and don't mess with it ( you can get that at Subway) just let him work his magic. Only fresh deli meat and cheese cut right there on the spot will ever touch a sandwich made at Paul's, so you're not going to get a sandwich made in one minute, great art takes a little time. Not too much or little of anything goes on a sandwich. Grab a yellow pepper from the counter while you're at it. There are also pasta dishes and various Italian foods to try except pizza, because they put so much work into making what they do, pizza would merely distract from the gorgeous sandwiches. They have excellent platters for parties and will make huge lasagna and spaghetti platters for a very reasonable price. I got a lasagna and pasta platter for a work function and it was devoured. If you have a meal at one of the tables you will most likely see someone come in that has known Paul for years. He knows cops, families, and local merchants by name. Some people just give him money without even saying their order because they go in there like the Pope goes to church. If you're there more that a few times, he'll know you too. I constantly eat sub sandwiches and Paul's is the only place I can honestly give a 5 star rating. If you call before hand you can have a bunch of sandwiches made for pick up. Paul isn't afraid to make a lot of food, because Paul aint afraid of nothin.
