    A very sad farewell to a place that had a special place in my heart. This was the first place I ever went in WeHo 18 years ago. Had the pleasure of renting office space in there, and getting to know all of the amazing restaurant employees (most of whom had been there 15+ years). You will all be missed. The owners sold the building. I imagine the new owner will tear it down and build. So sad.

    Rest in Peace, We have been coming to The French Quarter for 2 years. It has become a weekend tradition for us. We always sit at the counter and Javier gives the best service. It was sad to hear that it will be shutting down tomorrow. Our continued patronage to The French Quarter has continued because of its signature style, amazing service and great value. Javier has especially been a service staple and a signature part of our dining experience where ever he may be employed next would be happy to have him or any of the breakfast day crew. Much love to The French Quarter and their staff.

    A sad day for me here at the French Quarter Restaurant. At the end of this week they close, realistically for good. The first time I had lunch in West Hollywood it was at this location way back in the (late) 80s. Always a little Campy, the atmosphere was always fun. The food was always... OK but it didn't matter because the place just had a really great feel. I will be sad to see it go.

    I came to eat brunch here with a buddy who was visiting from out of town. Long ago, I came here on a date with my then-girlfriend and remember liking the food. So I took my buddy here, and I'm glad I did. To start off, the place is decorated like a small shopping center, with plenty of seating for patrons of the restaurant located on the first floor. My buddy and I sat in the bar area. I ordered the bodybuilder's breakfast: grilled chicken breast, egg whites, brown rice, and wheat bread. My buddy ordered French onion soup, with a side of biscuits and gravy. I can say that both entrees where delicious. Even the toast, which was not buttered, was very tasty. The customer service was phenomenal, and Freddy (our server) was very attentive to our needs. The patrons here are mostly West Hollywood locals, and they seemed like an ok bunch. My buddy and I came here late morning, and there were maybe 8 patrons total in the establishment. I do not remember how crowded it gets in the evening, but I will report back with that info in a future review. Stay tuned.

    French Market Café is indeed a popular place with decent seating and a very nice outdoor patio. However, and not one of the few, that find it to be highly over rated. As a matter of fact though the menu has some dishes with French names, I didn't exactly find anything all that French about their food. Maybe I'm missing out on something or just plain ignorant, but I'll be darned if I can really see anything so Frenchie about the "Chef's Favorite" entitled "La Favorite" being prosciutto, sliced tomato and mozzarella plate with pesto sauce. To me it just seems more Italian than it does French. I went for the Caesar salad (the original creation of one Caesar Cardini, an Italian immigrant who operated restaurants in Mexico, hence having nothing to do with France) with extra anchovy but since they didn't have any anchovy, I had the Caesar sans anchovy. Then for my main dish a filet of sole which was actually pretty good but would have been better had it not come accompanied by a bunch of soggy, limp, greasy tasteless french fries. Though the place is both a restaurant and a market, I'm not going to rate the market part because I didn't make any purchases. But since it purports to be a French restaurant and I have been too much better at the same prices level, Two Stars.

    Interesting setup, you're inside but it's designed to look like you're outside. It even looks like there were a handful of little shops in here along the walls but most are closed now. Decent Mediterranean Greek Salad, not as good as your standard Greek Salad. Greens were a little soggy and olives a bit strong. Save yourself the few bucks and don't bother adding chicken; the chicken is bland and is more the sort of chicken you hide in a cold sandwich. My partner had the NY Scramble which looked much tastier than what I had. Eggs scrambled with salmon, red onions, scallions and sour cream. I'd try this place again but I heard it will be closed soon.

    A group of Yelpers and I were going to go see a show at DBA next door two Sunday evenings ago, so we decided to get dinner here before the show. They have their own FREE parking lot, which is such a rarity in WeHo, so that was really nice. It was pretty empty on a early Sunday evening so parking was not an issue. The restaurant was also not crowded so there was no problem getting a table for our group of seven. The interior is very cute and New Orleans-y; there seem to be several shops inside but they were closed since it was a weekend. Our server was a guy named Joey and he was really friendly and helpful. Constantly checked up on us, always made sure I had a lot of water, had a lot of helpful suggestions, and even split the checks for everyone individually. Thank you Joey! I had a hard time choosing what to get, so in the end I ordered something that was pretty much the best of all worlds: PETITE SOUP AND SALAD: A cup of any of our soups with a small Caesar, Chinese Chicken or Roast Chicken Cobb Salad, or vegetarian chopped. We serve all salads with a honey bran, carrot raisin, blueberry crumb, banana nut muffin or king cake. -- CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP: Topped with grated Monterey Jack, fresh cilantro and crispy tortilla strips This came out first and was warm and good. Loved the tortilla strips and the cheesiness of the soup. Good rich flavour. -- ROAST CHICKEN COBB SALAD: Diced chicken breast, smoked bacon, avocado, green onions, vine ripe tomato, crumbled bleu cheese and chopped lettuce with choice of dressing (I chose Peppercorn Ranch) I'm not a fan of bleu cheese, so thank goodness there wasn't too much in this salad. Came in a glass bowl that I think I have at home and looks very simple and plain, but was still very filling, especially since I had already finished my soup. It was not very flavourful, perhaps I should have gone with a different dressing, so I was really glad I had my muffin to eat with it. -- BLUEBERRY CRUMB MUFFIN I feel like this place is famous for their muffins. Most Yelpers seem to get the honey bran, but I absolutely love blueberry crumb muffins so of course I had to order that. And the muffin top on these muffins are huge! I also love that they give it to you with a side of whipped butter. Makes an already delicious dessert even better! Just can't go wrong with the muffins here. The food here isn't amazing, but the location/parking is very convenient and the service is great (at least if you get Joey as your server). And the food isn't bad... especially if you're getting a wonderful muffin with it. Very solid 3-3.5 stars.

    I came in here because I wanted to check it out. I came with a friend. It looks as if Disneyland plus a circus/carnival had a baby. It definitely felt old and outdated for the area. I did not like my food at all. My friend kinda enjoyed her food. The server was really nice. I wont be coming back, but im glad some parts are getting remodeled.

    I've been going the French Quarter Restaurant for the past 15 years and the quality of the food has gone down - way down - while the prices have continued to rise. My last few visits have been less than impressive. This past week I ordered the Prime rib medium-well and had to send it back to the kitchen and they still got it wrong. I'm not sure if the restaurant is under new management but if it is, they're doing a rather poor job. Until they do something about the quality, my current advice is to look for other dining options in the area.

    This is the BEST restaurant and brunch spot in LA. The Only place you can sit on Santa Monica Blvd and have brunch that is delicious and reasonably priced and comfortable. The Food is AMAZING. This place is Truly the "Cheers" of Weho - Where Everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came. Most of the waiters have been working there for 20+ years and its like a little family. If the rumors are true and this place gets shut down it will be a TRAVESTY and absolutely unforgivable. I pray that this gem shines on and on so I can spend as many Sundays as possible sipping on the BEST Mimosas and eating the BEST brunches in this City. I LOVE YOU FRENCH QUARTER!!! PLEASE DONT EVER LEAVE ME!!!!!!!!!! :(

    A reliable place for good diner-type fare. My hubby and I love this place... Especially because they stay open until the wee hours. The decor is high kitsch and the staff are all very nice and professional. Standouts are the blackened salmon sandwich and the charbroiled steak (that's hubby); I have the walnut apple salad and veggie burgers are awesome. The building is under renovation but so far they haven't been forced to close, though I'm told they will definitely reopen after renovations. I hope they don't disappear!

    Jordan was a great server and the shrimp quesadilla and generous glass of wine come without complaint! Outside style seating is similar to say the restaurants in the New York New York casino in Las Vegas. Not as intimate or fancy as the website portrays but I still recommend!

    I have been coming to this place for over 30 years. It has always been a nice place to eat with good food, great service, and nice atmosphere with a nice mixture of gay and straight clientele. My friend was updating me as to the new changes and change of ownership that have taken place with this place recently. The service was always friendly and efficient and it seemed that the employees were always happy and many of them including bus boys were working there for many years. Today it seem that everybody was new, and waiters and bus boys arguing with each other. No body was happy to be working there! The food....well I guess it is time to close this chapter! I really doubt I would come back. Food was bland, dried, and nothing like what it used to be. The quality of the food has deteriorated with the use of cheaper ingredients. Goodbye French Quarter! To bad you are not going out with a bang, in lieu of a fizzle!

    If you're over 55, this is your place. We call it "Gay Coco's". My BFF loves the Chinese chicken salad so we go once in a while...I mean the foods not bad, but it's just not good. I remember like 10 years ago when Iived in weho, I'd walk my fat ass over there once a week to eat the broccoli cheese soup, but that's when this place was still somewhat "cool". Anyway, last time we were there Angelyne and her pink corvette pulled up, I guess she's here often, I think she has a PO box at the postal service in the back, or she eats here for free...either way D list "celebrities" for a D list menu. Make sure you go inside to get the full gay Disneyland effect, it's like some run down New Orleans inside, minus the bourbon street smell...

    You know things ain't that great when the best tasting thing is the tap water with a slice of lemon, that was free. Chicken tenders guys come on, you can change your oil now that it's a new year. Crab cake Benedict, ok so the crab cakes were from Ralph's frozen seafood section and the English biscuit it was laying on was more like and English plywood, at least the eggs were poached to perfection and hollandaise sauce was decent, you get one star for that.

    Ambiance This restaurant has a really intriguing design to it. It is right in the middle of The French Market Place and if you eat inside you get a pretty nice view of everything. There is covered outdoor seating as well. The theme isn't really carried well throughout the restaurant. It seems like it is supposed to evoke a feeling that you are in the New Orleans French Quarter, but you don't get that vibe from here. So they kind of fail in that aspect of the decor. They should add more New Orleans themed elements to tie it all together. Food The food was alright. Again, most of the dishes do not carry the New Orleans or French theme that they are attempting to accomplish. It seemed more Italian or New American themed rather than southern or French. For the appetizer I chose fried zucchini spears with parmesan. Those were truly sensational. So yummy, we ate every bite. I would definitely order that again. I ended up ordering the crispy buffalo chicken sandwich for my entree. It was just okay. I wouldn't really come back for it, but it was edible and nothing was really bad about it. It just wasn't special or something that you would remember. My date got the French onion soup, and a steak entree. His soup was very good. It had a lot of flavor and who doesn't love Gruyere cheese melted on top of deliciously soaked bread? You would have to be insane. I tried some of his steak and it wasn't as flavorful as the soup unfortunately, but still pretty good and tender. He enjoyed it and ate it all. Service The service was great. We were greeted upon entering and were told we could sit wherever we liked. We chose the patio and we were pleased with how nice it was. Our food came in good time and everything went smoothly in terms of our service. Return Probability I wouldn't go running back to this place, but if I wanted a quick local bite, I wouldn't mind giving it another shot. The only problem is that this restaurant has heavy competition in the surrounding area. Most of the competing businesses offer more advanced quality than they do. So I would be more inclined to choose something else on most occasions. It sort of reminded me of diner type food so it would be a great Norm's alternative.

    I've been coming to this place for many years. It's a staple of the gay community in West Hollywood. Their service is always friendly and attentive in a charm of its own. I like to come here when I'm craving a good club sandwich, like the great ones you would find in the 90's. The sandwich is too big to bite, because the thick layers of fresh turkey and bacon are so generous. It comes with my favorite side of steak fries. You can order a different side, even their seasoned fries, but I'm a big fan of big steak fries!

    On April 14th, the city granted them a permit to serve a full range of alcohol until 2am. The owner says they plan to add a bar and he will rent the stores/offices out again. I doubt they will bring the French Quarter name back unless he's doesn't want to spend money on new signage. I hope they get rid of the menu. I'm sure it'll become a hipster joint. The owner is being very secretive about this project which is very strange.

    04 Jan 2014, 07:15p Our group of 14 attempted dinner at Marco's Trattoria without a reservation after happy hour, but there was no room so we ended up at the French Quarter, which was easily able to seat us. I've only ever been here for breakfast and lunch, so dinner was something new. The menu is pretty varied with something for everyone and if you're in the mood for breakfast, they serve it all day. I ended up ordering the Jambalaya with garlic toast instead of a muffin. The jambalaya was full of protein, including lots of shrimp, chicken and Portuguese sausage. The rice used appeared to be a long grain, almost like a basmati, but not as fluffy. There was not a lot of liquid and what was there was quickly absorbed by the rice. The portion was large and tasty, although not very spicy at all. The garlic toast was very good, also. Others in our party ordered the Portuguese Sausage and Bean soup (which was a big hit), the French Onion soup, Chicken Tenders, Roasted Chicken Cobb Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad, Reuben Sandwich and Prime Rib among other items. Everybody appeared to enjoy their food and I didn't hear any complaints. The service was very attentive with drinks being constantly refilled. Our waiter even split all of our checks, no problem, so that was nice. The food and service here are definitely consistent and it's a reliable choice when you can't think of anywhere better to go. Also, since the restaurant is fairly large, they can generally accommodate large parties without any problem.

    Small dinner was needed before heading home.... On a Friday I asked myself -where is there parking (that's free) and won't be busy in Hollywood ? The French quarter! Had the Reuben - give it a 2.5, soggy. The French fries yummy!!! The French onion soup- so so. But no wait and parking right there- big plus!! In conclusion there are LOTS of places in this area that are FAR better but last night convenience won in this battle!

    This place is pretty weird. French Market, where? Not here either. We stopped on for dinner about 5pm tonight. We say on the patio/ sidewalk. Table and salt and pepper shakers were grimy. Something red on bottom of salt shaker, who needs salt anyways? I'm thinking they are trying to go for New Orleans (NOLA) vibe. I only saw two dishes that are NOLA, jambalaya and po-boy. Not feeling it in the middle of West Hollywood, it probably comes in a can. I opted for chicken and pasta with spinach. Chicken was dry. The decor inside is kind of random. The French Quarter looks nothing like this. Funny I asked for a sea breeze little gay boy said no we only have these drinks points to menu. Does that mean you can't make. a sea breeze? No. Ok as he walked away to get me a martini I saw the sea breeze on the damn menu. It was happy hour, my martini had two sips. Service not friendly. I expected better service. There weren't many patrons, I'm thinking we interrupted the boyz and their hair talk.

    So happy to have found this place! I've passed it before not really knowing what it was and so has my girlfriend. We were planning on going barhopping around WeHo so we decided to eat around the area too. We literally looked on our Google Maps on our phone and this was nearby so we Yelp'd it and it was normal food, reasonably priced, good reviews, and the interior pictures looked so cute!! That was kind of the deciding factor haha. Anyway so we get lucky with parking at a meter that had time on it still (score!) and we walk up to the restaurant. There's an outdoor patio but it was night-time so we opted for inside although there were people outside. We go inside and it's suuuperr cute!!! It looks like you're in a little outdoor shopping area with a tables in the middle. There's this simple staircase and flowery decorations. I'm not good at explaining it lol sorry. From reading other reviews I guess it's supposed to look like the French Quarters in New Orleans. I've never been so I can't really say but after hearing that I guess it does kinda look like New Orleans Square at Disneyland (lol did I really just compare those things??) We got sat quickly. It's basic American food. We had looked at the menu online so we already knew what we wanted. What we had a hard time deciding on was what to drink! ;) Bottle of wine, or pitcher of sangria hmm..... We opted for bottle of wine and it was only like $17! Pitcher is $18 by the way and they can do it red or white. Noted. I ordered the Crab Cake Wrap, no avocado, but I guess the server forgot because it had avocado. Not that big of a deal I can pick it out. My gf got the Chicken Sandwich but made it a wrap, which you can do with any sandwich. We also got the French Onion Soup yummmm we love cheese. I would come back for both. Something smelled soooo good at other tables I think it was the bread or maybe pancakes/waffles ? It had a sweet smell... Whatever it was I want it next time! My only complaint would be I thought service was a little bit slow. Just getting the check and then having them take it back. Food service was normal. That's it. I'd still come back. And I still gave it 4 Stars so obviously it wasn't that bad to deter me from this place :)

    Im not sure where to start on this one. I have history here, in 1974 I was having a mad hot "Fling" with a waiter, but thats a different story. It was once called Louisiana Purchase and to a young guy hitting "Boys Town" it was like Pirates of the Caribbean... The blue sky , the fountains the Gazebo and the small under scale shops that line the cafe Seemed magic. The food was always so-so but a little bit better than Arthur Js It was tasty and creative and cheap! This place was always abuzz with waiters and the latest gossip I havent been here in a year and last night the first thing i noticed was it was desolate No customers, after 40 plus years the place looks run down , worn out and sad The bathrooms are still as disgusting as ever Mimis was running this place for years but once you open the menu you realize thats not the case anymore Thick , gross , bland soup. Followed by warmed over soggy vegetables and limp sauce soaked pasta was horrible All this misery was 17.50! So even though i may not see Angelyn fall off her platform shoes anymore ( seriously ) , no more break ups ( 2) and all the after hour drunk eating binges ... I wont come back. Its filled with ghosts of the past and its time to bury it

    Pomegranate Mimosas! Yeah, they won me over with that pretty quickly. Here's the thing, French Quarter Restaurant is something that you should prepare yourself for or else you may be greatly disappointed. The first thing you should know is that this place looks like it should be at Disney World versus being just a random restaurant. The decorations and the building itself is OTT and is definitely a bastardization of stereotypical New Orleans aesthetic, there are gift shops and no French nor Creole fare is sold here from what I've seen. With that said, what you do get is a place that is a bit camp, some great people watching, decent food at a very affordable price, great customer service, free parking (a luxury in this part of town), and if you are lucky, you may see the glamorous Angelyne (I love her!!!).

    I've been coming here to the French quarter seems like forever. And it seems like this place has never been renovated other than adding a "sky view" to the ceiling. Still it's a nice place at times service could be better but not tonight. It's always a nice experience but selection is very selective.

    On two occasions that I've been here with friends, we've experienced the same slow service during breakfast/brunch. Our server didn't come by often to check up on our table and had us sitting to have our coffees and drinks re-filled. The menu is pretty big and depending what you get can get kind of expensive, however I stuck with a basic breakfast/brunch items. As I type this, I don't even remember what I ordered except for the side of hash browns, that's how memorable the food was. My friends and I had a great time, laughing and enjoying our company but we would have appreciated better service.

    I come here a lot since I work nearby and I think it's great! The food tastes good and I love that you can get breakfast all day! It's also one of the only places I've seen in LA that actually fills the wine glasses like to the top! The waiters are all super nice too!

    A completely forgettable meal. Everything was just bland and lacked any excitement. It's one of those places that I've driven by ten thousand times but never really had a reason to go. I never heard anyone talk about the food and perhaps I should've taken that as a sign. Perhaps i also should've took the empty parking lot at 9:00 on a Friday as a bad sign. But I didn't. Silly me. The place was absolutely empty except for Angelyne and her man sitting in a corner slurping soup through her plastic face. Even though the inside is super cute, we sat outside to do some people watching and to attempt to eat the mediocre meal they placed before us. I know a thing or two about French onion soup and French Quarter's is nothing special. I've had way better ones from Costco. The tuna salad may have made my bottom 3 of all time. Glad I can at least check this off my LA To Do list.

This was a great place for a "home cooked" meal. Not anymore. Keep on driving on Santa Monica ... There is a McDonald's somewhere. By the way, really 5, 4 or 3 star ratings?! Are these paid ratings or those who dine often at 7-11?!

    The restaurant changed ownership a few years ago. Now, whenever I come in, it seems the prices have jumped several dollars from the last time I came in. What used to be reasonably priced is now WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. There is no salad under $10 that I could find on the menu, and the soups are even more outlandish. It seems as if the new owners are trying to squeeze more profit out of their investment. Well, I'm having none of it. I'm finished with this place.

    Went for breakfast and won't be back. The bacon was dry. You know, like the kind that turns to powder when you bite into it. The toast would have been good if it hadn't been lathered with a butter brush. Note that even though it doesn't say it, the french toast comes with raisins in it. Perfect way to ruin something otherwise delicious. Overall, everything was cheap, but it also tasted that way.

    Rock Hudson just loved the Tea Room there,all I can recall was the smoking section and a shop called Baby Jane,what ever happenend to it.     I really really wanted to like this place. I drive past it all the time, and so finally my boyfriend and I went there for breakfast. The interior is sooo cute!! It's like a little French quarter eatery. You totally forget you are in West Hollywood. The interior is worth a star (which is why there are two stars in my rating). The food was NASTY. I ordered the baguette french toast and a side of biscuits and gravy. First of all, there was NOTHING french toasty about the french toast. It literally tasted like someone had taken a peice of baguette, gave it an egg wash, and cooked it. It had NO TASTE and was really quite gross. I didn't finish it. The biscuits and gravy were OK but also a bit on the boring side. Really overpriced. My boyfriend got the eggs benedict. The hamsteak was ridiculously thick and dry. The hollandaise tasted funny, and he barely took more than 3 bites. He looked really crestfallen because he loves eggs benedict and he was so hopeful they would be good in this cute little restaurant. The mimosas were not good either. I ordered the pomegranate one.... literally, I did not finish it. I don't know what sort of sparkling wine they use, but I think they might have gotten it from the 7/11 across the street. I don't know what the dinner menu is like, and because the interior is so cute, I would be willing to go check it out for dinner. Mind you, I do not have high hopes at all. My recommendation: keep going west on Santa Monica til you get to the IHOP. IHOP seems like serious gourmet eating compared to this place.

    Where do I start? Pros: server was very attentive, the location is great, the atmosphere is decent. Cons: Uhh...the food. All of it. From crepes and omelettes to chicken tenders...? It was all very average and cafeteria level food, and I say that as a fact. I wouldnt be so annoyed if it was cafeteria food prices, but its quite marked up. Would not recommend at all, particularly because theres so many great restaurants in the area.

    My girlfriend had told me about this place so we decided to give it a try. We went on a Friday and it was super lonely. The interior is really nice and makes me feel like I'm at the Paris casino in Vegas. Our waiter hooked us up the entire night (we only had a couple of minutes before happy hour ended when we got there) and he made sure the drinks were stiff. The food was pretty good. I had the pot roast and I have no complaints. My girlfriend had a pasta dish and I was getting food from her plate throughout haha. Next time we come here I want to come with enough time to take full advantage of the happy hour ;)

    I've been coming here since it opened. It quickly became the unofficial social hub of "the county", or what we called "Boys' Town." (There WAS no "WeHo" back in those heady days, thank God.) You could always count on a tasty repast served by a cute, friendly server, and the food was always consistent. It pains me tremendously to hear that the SImmses have moved on and that new owners are running the place into the ground (just like the rest of "WeHo" these days). I came by before the change, and it was comforting to be "home" again with a tasty French dip and some onion soup. Now, as old friends tell me, "she ain't what she used to be," just like the rest of the overpriced, developer-friendly city that the area has become, thanks to those "lipstickers" that took over after all our friends died in the Holocaust. The new owners had best get their sh_t together, for the closing of this place will be the final page of the final chapter of a once wondrous place we used to call home..."the county." Just another hint to all..."time waits for no man."

    The service was incredibly slow. Waited for 20 minutes for the appetizer. Got chicken wings which were very good but the carrots tasted of onions. Told the waiter and he couldn't care less , all he wanted was to go on his break. Chicken Cobb salad was average and chicken wrap was a disappointment , the wrap fell apart so couldn't eat it as such! Would not go back there again!!

    I love this place. It is one of my favorite WeHo Spots. I like to go on Sunday when they have their asparagus and crab soup. It is amazing and reminds me of the crab soup from Charleston, SC. I have been here many times and I always have a positive experience. I am only giving it a 4 instead of a 5 because its not so clean in the dining room. I am from the country so I don't mind a little grit but the bars that surround the center dining area are covered in splashes of old food and dust/dirt. This place gets a lot of foot traffic from the shops inside so I expect it to be a little dusty and dirty but it has never had an impact on how great their food and service is.

    This place has forgotten that "charm" doesn't fill peoples bellies. Bellies are fed with food. On that note the food here is just plain horrible. The service did not make up for it. It was spacey and slow and unfriendly. Like that was the last place they would be at. That part I get tho. I had salmon with rice. The rice was horrible. Who messes up white rice? The salmon was farmed. Ew. My friend had chicken kebab and the chicken was super dry. Kept it for the dog. My other friend had enchiladas and those were really good. Wait, isn't this a French-ish place? Convert to Mexican food you will be popping. Stay away. So many wonderful places in WeHo.

    Everyone (all my friends from San Francisco) raved about this place. A must try if we visit WEHO! Just from the look from the outside it does remind your of Bourbon Street. It has that French Style outdoor eating area with a "gaudy" rooftop stripes! The indoor seating were a bit unique in a way you were in the middle of a quarter and surround with stores behind you in circle. Their bottom stores were actual merchants and open to the public for sale. Most of them were clothing but they did have a few stores with a one of a kind memorabilia. The service is not bad. They were not that busy when we were there before prime brunch time so we lucked out because after an hour or so the place was packed. Luckily for us, they do provide a private parking with an attendant to make sure you were a guest otherwise your car will be towed. Food is not bad. I would give it 3 stars. I had the eggs Benedict and my partner opt out for the more traditional sausage, pancake and over easy eggs. Eating here is more for the experience. It's a place where you want to be seen and mingle with friends on a nice Sunday. One aspect that stood out the most would be the "corky--ness" to the place which I think makes it that special for tourist and locals alike.

    An old favorite. We have been visiting the French Quarter for decades, especially for weekend brunch. The crab cake Benedict - flavorful, crispy outside and tender inside - is delicious. So is the Tasso Lasso omelet - eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese. The French Onion soup is good, too, though it sometimes tastes more of salt than onion. Passable coffee. I am less familiar with the dinner menu - the couple of times I have eaten dinner there, I have been less impressed with the food. The dinner menu is also rather pricey, where the brunch menu is fairly reasonable. The service is usually fast and friendly. The dining room is a camp fantasy. The mall stores are in need of a little renewal, but there is an excellent movie memorabilia store to browse in after brunch. The patio is also a good place to sit and eat while watching the world go by. Parking in the restaurant lot can get a little tight at peak hours. This bit of old West Hollywood is worth a visit, especially for a weekend brunch.

    I sat outside and I do have to say that the food I was served was nothing short of delicious. For those of you who not had their breakfast, I'd suggest trying the huevos rancheros; it were extremely yummy. My only complaint is that my table, salt & pepper shakers, water glasses, and silverware were filthy! I had to ask for three different waters because my glasses literally had dirt or sand on them. Once they get this down, I don't see why I wouldn't go back.

    If you've ever been to a Mimi's Cafe, get yourself over to the real version of the franchised copy. The French Quarter restaurant is assuredly kitschy, a little over-decorated and with some mighty strange shops (a lot of which I've never seen open) ringing the inside of the restaurant. The food is comforting and yummy, with options like beef stew and fried chicken. Just be aware that anything you order will be so enormous you could share it with the person sitting next to you. Personally, I don't share, but you can do whatever you want with your food.

    It's too bad that I was more interested in the interior decor and mini mall stores than I was my meal. I ordered a very simple breakfast. French toast, scrambled eggs(EASY) and bacon. The raisin french toast was very small in size but tasted decent. I ordered my scrambled eggs EASY or lightly scrambled. It basically means that I like my eggs scrambled but a little runny and not over cooked. Every time I order my eggs this way, I need to over emphasize this. It seems that the French Quarter didn't get my message and my eggs were NOT scrambled easy. I didn't want to send them back because well...we all know what the consequences would be right? I little extra something something on my new eggs perhaps? A new word for "poached"..."pubed". As for the bacon, well I don't even know what to say. My bacon was scrawny, thin and over cooked. It looked like it was purchased from the Ralph's Market Manager's special "about to expire" rack. Actually, the Ralph's special might be better. I must add that the service was great. The waiter and the busboy were very good with their service. Unfortunately, the food was weak sauce. I don't think I'll be going back until...they close. It's not like I say to myself, "hey I could really use some great service and some bad food!" I think I'll go to The French Quarter restaurant. Me thinks not.

    I've been coming here on and off for decades. I've never come here expecting a great meal (you're really coming for easy seating and a kitschy atmosphere). This said, after not having come to the French Quarter for years, I was here for a late night dinner a couple of nights ago, and the food was better than I remember it. (I had a BLT with Avocado, my dinner companions had the Quesadilla, the Albacore Tuna Sandwich, and a vegetarian concoction). This said, however, the service was lousy. The waiter got our order wrong. While this is in and of itself not a big deal, I was really annoyed that he didn't bother to apologize, and he was too lazy to actually fix the bill. Even at a cheap place like this, such poor treatment is really unacceptable.

    Fastest service I have every experienced in LA at lunchtime! I arrived at 11:50 and was out by 12:20; fortunate since I had a very busy schedule out on the field. I got the California Benedict and a tea; the Benedict was tasty, with avocado and caramelized onions. The adjacent free private parking lot is a definite plus. I plan on being in this area a lot as part of my work, and plan on visiting this funky little diner again!

    3 stars for food. 4 stars for unique, fun atmosphere and great service. Come here with your kids and large family. Something on the menu for everyone. Our kids loved the fountain with the large Coy, the balcony's and the murals. Specifics about the food: I loved the pickles that came with everyone's sandwich. They were special in that they taste fresh and homemade. They are crunchy, bright green cucumber tasting... Not your usual pickle. Also tried the "World's Best Carrot Cake" and that's no joke. It's outstanding! Didn't care for the seasoned fries. Normally I'm a sucker for fries, but I would pass on these. The fresh fruit instead was amazing! Would not recommend the crab cake sandwich. The baguette it came on was great, but the crab cake was thin and crabless from some freezer bag I'm guessing. p.s. The sign out front says "French Market" so we stopped thinking it was a French restaurant. Instead it's atmosphere is recreating the New Orleans French Quarter.

    I went here with a couple friends on New Years Day for a much needed morning brunch. Initially, we were really jazzed about the cute atmosphere of the restaurant- it was a bit reminiscent of Disneyland. We were seated quickly but that kind of ended up being the highlight of our experience. At first we all thought that the host was also our server but after 10 min, some other dude came over and introduced himself as our server. MENU- Let's just say there's nothing French about this place and barely anything that's Southern either. The reality is that this place is actually just a sub-par diner. DRINKS- Two of us started with coffee and our other friend got hot chocolate- his hot chocolate turned out to be lukewarm chocolate. They did let me switch between iced tea and coffee without charging me for both so that was nice. FOOD- Then we ordered our food which took forever to come out. Once we finally got it, it was also lukewarm.. like it'd been sitting out for the past 10 minutes. Two of us got benedicts and the Hollandaise sauce on both of them was way too lemony. My other friend got pancakes which were fine. SERVICE- Awful. We had to ask for every drink refill, utensils, and our bill. Our server was barely around so we kept having to grab food servers and hostesses to help us. We asked for our check and waited for 15 min.. then noticed our server going back and forth right past us and realized that he had forgotten. So we had to hunt him down and ask again. ATMOSPHERE- COLD. We didn't sit outside because it was so cold out but we were freezing the entire time we were eating inside. Once we walked out, we realized that it was colder inside than it was outside. Basically, the charm we initially saw in this place quickly diminished over the course of an hour.

Took the watier a bit to pick up his pace, but once he got it rolling, he was just on it! =) coffee was good, typically coffee is always a bummer for me when i dine in anywhere. Food came out cold.. which is quite odd, how it was the easiest plate to put together, so i was always under the impression scramble eggs, bacon and hashbrowns would be the last to cook up for it to be hot and fresh. But it tasted like SOOOOO 15 minutes ago. Also added a blueberry muffin on side, and that in itself was a bit chalky. umm yeah.. 4 stars for atmosphere. Great location, very cute set up.

The interior "marketplace" is pretty neat and takes you away to an outdated, fabricated Parisian setting; kinda like the Venetian's "Venice."     This place was all kinds of cute and man did I want to love it, but I just don't. The service was pretty terrible. It want to be optimistic and say it was the situation, but I don't think that's the case. Gema C and I were starving and left the Yelp Masquerade ( yelp.com/biz/yelp-masque… ) to find some food. Not more than 15 minutes had passed after Brian I suggested this place at the Yelp event did Gema C and I find him and his plus one, Charity C, eating here. We joined them at their table and were promptly seated--then forgotten for 10-15 minutes. No one even offer to take our beverage order. We flagged someone down to get us some water and take our order. Water slowly came out and even more leisurely the food came out. We eagerly chomped down on the fish taco and Tuscan chicken. Both were a little above average. The portions were fair with the price. The onion soup that came with the Tuscan chicken was actually quite delicious. However, the potatoes were dry. I wish they had ask how we wanted the potatoes. Mash potatoes would have been better. Charity C, who ordered before Gema C and I came, asked for the substitution and it looked delicious. Overall, a very meh experience with what seemed like 75% of the time waiting for the order to be taken, the food to arrive, the check to come, and the credit card to be processed.

    Like most people have said, the food here is very average. When I go out, I like to be served a meal that I don't feel like I could have prepared myself. We went for brunch, and our food wasn't bad, but it was resoundingly adequate. Prices seemed just a tad high for the quality, but not terribly so.     This restaurant is quite the place to go for brunch regardless of the looks of it. I came here with a friend of mine after we went hiking. My friend ordered the salmon Benedict, and I ordered the pancake breakfast. The Benedict had a English muffin with smoked salmon and poached egg on top, together the taste was delicious!!! Nothing was left on that plate. As for the pancake breakfast, its really like any dish. It had 3 pancakes, with 2 eggs, and a sausage. It definitely hit the spot. This a place to come back to in the future. This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating based on your preference. Come here for Sunday brunch!!!! Enjoy!

    So this is the first time I ever did Groupon, paid $8 for $16 value, they honored it with no problem. I really like the ambience of this place, reminds of Marigo in St.Martin. It's nice sitting outside but it was very noisy due to the buses and cement trucks drive by. I got the buffalo chicken sandwiche, it wasn't the greatest but I can tell they used good quality. My man go the tuna sandwiche and to our suprise, they used real tuna and literally just prepared it so that's why it took some time. Would reccommend this place for lunch. Next time, I will try the crab cake sandwiche. Oh price is very fair, approx. $10 per plate.

    Over thirty year I have been coming for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It shine around Christmas time. When you step into the inside courtyard its like going back to old New Orleans. The food changes like the seasons but they do have great brand muffins and a good club sandwich. I was not happy to learn about pay to park. There is always room down the street or atmeter on Santa Monica Blvd. On several nights I ran into Estelle Getty from The Golden Girls, she enjoyed the place and one night I sat at the next table we had a nice conversation. You never know who you will sit next to.

    I've been going to this restaurant since 1989, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. I don't cook so and it's half a block away so - this is my kitchen, basically. The things I love are - ample parking, huge portions, excellent coffee, iced tea and truly wonderful brunch. I also love that it's not full of crying babies and loud shrill families. It's relaxing and there are plenty of busboys, waiters and food runners to keep you from feeling neglected. One important tip: Sit outside on the patio. The service is far, far better on the "porch" because the management seems to put the best wait staff out there. The two weekend waiters, Russell and and very sweet older gentlemen, are real pros. They never disappoint. The female waitresses indoors, on the other hand, can be pretty slow and even though they've been there for a couple of years they still behave like newcomers in a lot of ways. I once saw one of them talk to a table full of people about her travel and education plans for about 20 minutes while her other tables full of customers were waiting, seething with anger. Word to the wise - sit on the porch and you'll get the best of this wonderful place with affordable comfort food and excellent waiters.

    I love this place. I've been here a few times and every single time I am satisfied. The service is great, the food is awesome, and I just love the decor is adorable. I recommend the Grilled chicken foccacia sandwich- SO good. I don't think I've had a better sandwich than that (which means I either need to get out more, or their sandwich was really, really good). The ambiance is nice, I love the decor, and the servers are always friendly and helpful. I do not have any complaints really. I recommend anything with their juicy and delicious grilled chicken.

    GONE DOWNHILL ALERT!!!! I've been eating at this restaurant for 30 years. I used to love to pick on its ersatz "Frenchness", complete with the "Les Oeufs" section of the menu. But kitsch aside, it was always a consistently good place for breakfast, a burger or even something more adventurous (my first Monte Cristo sandwich was experienced here). But I think they've changed ownership (not really sure), only because of profound menu changes, plus a whole new bevy of servers whom I didn't recognize. And with that change came the complete destruction of a dish: corned beef hash with eggs. An American classic at breakfast, corned beef hash has a particular wonderfully strong and familiar flavor, whether from a can or from scratch. And The French Quarter served me something that was an insult to the dish. On the menu it looked interesting (albeit unusual): they added sauteed spinach and caramelized onions. But the execution was awful, and someone should be fired for this concoction. The bits of corned beef? No aroma, no taste, no character--like little rubber brownish thingies. The potatoes? Pieces cut from red potato, which I normally love, but no flavor. The spinach and the caramelized onions? They seemed very much out of place here, but worse, they added no flavor to the dish. The eggs? I asked for Over Medium, and I got Over Hard, and very dry. Runny brownish spinach juice liquid beneath all of this. And it seemed like there was no salt or fat in the disk to carry some flavor. I ate 1/3 of it and set it aside. I should have sent it back, it was that awful. Maybe someone in the kitchen decided this was a sorta health food place, devoid of salt and butter. Or that an American classic needed some updating. Well, dammit, no it didn't! I've never had a corned beef hash dish this bad. The canned versions from other restaurants were comforting and like home (full of flavor), and the homemade versions from high-end places were surprisingly good (and full of flavor). But this was atrocious. The reason for just 1 star. Service, by the way, was decent. But the fact that our waitress WHIZZED by toward the end of the meal and uttered "Everything ok?" and didn't stop to hear the answer.....that's not good. She should have noticed that I wasn't even touching the food.

    the french quarter restaurant has been a friend to the glbt community since the 1970's. it's original owner was a wonderful gay man. i love it and have frequented it for over 30 years. it is like a home safe space for me and has been increasingly so as my community earned its constitutional rights. i had my wedding dinner there last summer. god bless the "french market" as it is called by people who love it.

Been coming here for many years.... usually sitting in the same spot.... the waiters are known by name and this is more like friends you don't hang out with.... just brunch friends.... The staff has been the same since i can remember... Which tells me management cares about them... and they care about the customers... we always order the same thing and its o.k. nothing spectacular from a culinary standpoint ... Its just nice to sit outside and eat at the same place and see the same people and order the same food at the same restaurant at the same time and day.... week after week.... I guess its a staple in our routine There's no other place that could get us to do this . If they started killing it on the food, I probably wouldn't even know it...

    I came to the French Quarter for lunch with a coworker. I had passed the restaurant by so many times but never entered that I looked forward to trying something new. Unfortunately, it fell below the hopes I had for it. The facade of the restaurant betrays the decor within, if only slightly. It is a mix of the Venetian (if the Venetian was French) and Disneyland - a very purposeful sense of place that gives it a very faux atmosphere. What also throws me off is the storefronts lining the restaurant floor's periphery; each one selling something very - touristy. It only contributes to the faux Disney feel. Service was good. I almost feel guilty giving a relatively negative review for our waiter was very polite, prompt and friendly. If I had to only review the service, it would be five stars. Sorry, buddy. This leads to the ultimate query: food. I ordered a BBQ chicken salad; a simple enough dish to satisfy my desire for a filling but not too heavy meal. However, the salad sounded better on paper than it did in practice. What was brought out seemed more like a chicken ceaser salad with indiscriminately tossed tortilla chips, canned corn pieces and KC masterpiece BBQ sauce over very dry chicken slices. It was very disappointing and a dish I would not order again. While I would not recommend the BBQ chicken salad, my co-worker ordered a burger. The burger looked decent and my co-worker appeared to enjoy it. I would not order a salad but I would consider returning for a second round. Only next time, I will order something that may actually require the kitchen to cook something.

    Best soup in town! We rarely make it over to West Hollywood but when we do we normally like to stop off at the French Market for one of their generous bowls of chicken tortilla soup. It comes with a choice of muffins (we normally go for the carrot)! Plus it's a wonderful place to sit at the sidewalk cafe and enjoy the passing parade.

I hadn't been here in over five years, but was happy to see that the kitschy French Quarter decor was still alive and well. Although the food was a little subpar (eggs were a little cold, bacon was average, and the freshly baked muffins were a little too crumbly), their $5.95 FQ breakfast is pretty inexpensive and also comes with savory hash browns and a glass of freshly squeezed OJ (which was the best part of the meal next to the muffins). The absolute best part of our experience here was definitely our server. I wish I had gotten his name, but he was incredibly personable, attentive, and funny.     Hubby and I went to that side of town to go have brunch and came to find out the place we wanted to go to was closed. So, we started driving around and saw a full parking lot outside of French Quarter and it looked like the happening place to be so we stopped. First thing that caught my eye was the patio seating. It's enclosed and covered and looks like a nice place to enjoy your food. When we walked in, it looked as if Mimi's Cafe and Marie Callender's fornicated and the French Quarter was its offspring. It was a little odd in that the restaurant is in the middle and resembles a patio, but inside. Surrounding it are a bunch of businesses (clothing, insurance, etc.). I opted for an omelette, my breakfast of choice at restaurants. It came with my choice of muffin, blueberry. The muffin arrived fresh from the oven and was one of the best muffins I've ever had. Even better than those I make at home. It was very light and had just the right amount of blueberries. My omelette was light and fluffy, as well, and had tons of cheese and more than enough of the fixings. Potatoes were good and overall, I came home with a big ol' doggy bag for... me! :) I haven't gone back there, but if I find myself in the area, I would not hesitate to go back for lunch or dinner. The service was great and even on a packed Sunday morning, the wait was not that long.

    Been coming to the French Quarter since I was a kid. The menu used to be huge and the atmosphere used to be kinda eclectic and funky with small boutique shops and independent tchotchke stores. Channeling, well, the French Quarter! This last time I went, I mean, it was good...but it just didn't quite feel the same. Many of the businesses inside were closed, the menu had been reduced, easily, by maybe 2/3rds. As far as the food goes, I started with the hummus platter, which looked really pretty when it arrived and tasted quite delicious. It had grilled pita bread, celery, kalamata olives and what not. Again, really tasty. Then my sandwich came...Merp! It just tasted like onions to me. Not too many other flavors going on even though it was a full fledged veggie sandwich. I ended up using the hummus as a means to season it up a bit so at the very least I could taste something. The bran muffin they serve is just as sweet and ooey and gooey as I remember. So that was a plus! I dunno tho. I may need to think about this one a little bit to decide if its still a member of my fave local spots.

    Very interesting restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd...surrounding by good shopping within walking distance with good food. I ordered the tortilla soup and I highly recommend it. They brought a big bowl filled with chunks of white meat chicken and strips of toasted tortilla, topped with cheese. It was very filling. With it on a separate plate was some garlic bread, but it had a bit too much garlic to suit my tastes. The prices are a bit on the high side for soup ($8) but it was good. The decor is very interesting, with a gazebo high above most of the restaurant, shops surrounding it. It's a very interesting place to eat. Wait staff friendly but a little on the slow side.

    After living in WEHO for a couple years i have been wanting to try this place... thank goodness Groupon offered me a deal... $8 for $16 value... I ordered the bacon cheese potato wedges...with a side of ranch... YUMMY!!! BOMB WEDGES!!! I went on a Saturday night and i sat outside on the patio so I got to enjoy people watching everyone walking to the club next door... I also ordered the buffalo chicken or hot wings sorta sandwich and it wasnt that spicy and wasnt n e thing i would particularly order again... I would definitely love to return especially bc the wait staff were so polite... and to eat more papas... :0)

    Food is a hit or miss. It's never, ever consistent which is a shame because I used to work right across the street in 2004-2005 and it used to be our go to place for GREAT food. Not happy with the current kitchen. Everything always comes out different. However, I will say that the manager (I dont know his name but know that he lives in Pasadena?) is outstanding. He is very professional, always greets his guests and has fixed my orders with a smile. That's the only reason WHY this place gets more than one star.

    I used to go here a bunch for a late breakfast or a lunch meet up with friends during the work week. The food is always pretty good and the inside is looks like a Disneyesque take on the French Quarter. Delightful. My favorite thing to get here is their Country eggs Benedict. The basic structure is similar to your regular eggs Benedict convention, but you get country gravy instead of Hollandaise and sausage patties in lieu of a slice of ham. While I do enjoy the standard Benedict, I call that an upgrade. Mmmmm...savory. Give me that with a cup of coffee (keep 'em comin') a glass of cranberry juice ("what, are you on your period??") a newspaper (If I'm by myself) and I'm all set. Like I said earlier on, I did used to go here quite a bit when I lived a block and a half up the road. I saw some other reviews that maligned their service. Never had a problem with their wait staff here. Always prompt and friendly. Good breakfast and lunch food, good service, charming decor and I saw Rip Taylor here once sitting by himself. What more do you need people?

    Mon dieu! Meeting a fellow blogger at this place for "bruncheon," I was somewhat excited at his selection. I'd driven by it dozens of times, not really too curious but still anxious nonetheless. I was taken for a tacky clausterphobic shock when we sat indoors. Strike one! It reminded me of a sad attempt at imitating what Disneyland did but on sooooo many lower levels, and the only thing Disney has going in its own imitation of the French Quarter is its music and somewhat decent jambalaya. But I digress... Eating in the indoor/outdoor simulation of a French market, adding to my surprise was the menu that was very much similar if not identical to that of Mimi's Cafe. Loving that particular cafe for its carrot bread I was dismayed when our server didn't bring us any. Strike two! Strike three came with my order. I mean I know it said crab-cake sandwich, but I didn't really expect a breaded crabby patty on a french roll. Sure enough that's what I got. I'm almost positive even Sponge Bob wouldn't be able to stomach it. Three strikes and you're totally out! I was terribly disappointed I didn't even bother to look at the "shops" that surrounded us, and I'm a shopper! Yeah, it was that bad! Bid adieu to any thoughts of this place being anything but the opposite of tres chic! It would be a foodie faux pas for anyone to suffer what I did! (kk I've run out of French-isms.)

    We were in the area watching a taping of the Dr.Phil show and my Auntie wanted to go here because she loves their chicken pasta dish. We had a really nice lunch here. I had the broccoli cheese soup which was the best I've ever had, it didn't have that gummy glue like consistency, it was creamy and cheesy and really good. The Crab Cake Sandwich was really good too. Tasty and fresh on a nicely toasted french baguette. My Aunt had the chicken penne pasta which looked wonderful and she said it's how she remembered it but with penne instead of farfalle. A friend in our party had the fish tacos and she loved it. They have a really nice cole slaw on them. It's a cute place with cute little shops around it. Next time I will try their salads. They have a nice menu.

    On the drive into town my friend, who lived in LA for awhile, kept saying we just have to go here and eat. I have to say I really like the kitsch decor, "tried-and-true" menu options, (thats a compliment for those who think I'm being a bitch) and great service. We sat out front and had wine, soup and salads!! The french cafe chairs are a nice little touch too. We had a blast.....thank you, I will be back.

    Short Version: Good comfort food in WeHo. Long Version: This is a really comfortable restaurant that serves a variety of well-prepared comfort foods. The atmosphere is pleasant and the dining area is surrounded by boutiques of all sorts that are all cool to go in (Dorothy's Surrender is hilarious). Make sure you're not in a hurry; the service is somewhat slow. But, this is a place designed for you to take your time and enjoy yourself.

    If you are into kitsch, then this is the place for you. This is basically a piece of Disneyland in West Hollywood...On first glance, it reminds me of the type of country-diner place my grandma would've taken us to. There are some random stores in here including a Fed-Ex package center, a "men's lingerie store" (I guess another type of package center?) and a psychic. A good mix of people inside, including lots of grannies! The food was overall very good. I had the Mardi Gras omelet and it came with potatoes, fruit, and a muffin....Way too much food for me, but somehow I managed to finish the entire omelet, most of the fruit, and about half of the banana nut muffin. I also polished off a couple of the assorted mini-muffins that they had at the door. Don't judge me, I was hungry! Service was a bit slow, but I was somewhat surprised that there was no wait to get a table even during prime Sunday brunch hour.

    So I went there on monday for breakfest, I will say, it is the LAST time I will ever step foot in there. My food was cold, when I finally got it, the cheese was just a big glob on my omlette. The coffee tasted burnt, and miss thing couldn't pull himself away from yapping with his friends to see if everything was ok. I have waited tables before and he needs to pay attention to everyone, not just the "hot" guys. And again the food sucked.

    French Quarter is an awesome place to hit for affordable food and decent coffee in the middle of the night after the nearby clubs kick you out. The interior is totally surreal - there's all these shops around the main part of the restaurant. I've never been in there when they've been open, so there's sort of a weird "kitschy quaint New Orleans place in the middle of a ghost town" vibe to the place late at night. I like the comfort food. It's got a sort of French/cajun vibe to it, but isn't anywhere near authentic if that's what you're looking for. The wait staff is prompt, friendly, and they're good at dealing with the drunk/freaky/high clientle. I heard a rumor that the owners of this place also run the Mimi's chain. The menus used to be a little different, but a recent (last year or two) Mimi's menu change has brought it almost exactly into line with this place; there must be a relationship.

    Great menu, really good food and a decor that is the closest thing to Disneyland as you are going to get outside of Disneyland. Plus they have stores inside that often have the best deals in town on shoes and stuff. Great for meeting friends for brunch but get there before 11:00am as the senior crowd in the area have discovered them as well and now it's like going to the cafeteria at Shady Rest Assisted Living. ANd you know they don't tip. When you order Iced Tea it comes in a tub-sized glass which is all I ever wanted in life. Tub-O-Tea good.

    I had the sausage and bean soup, carrot muffin(so yummy) and the Mediterranean tuna salad with a glass of wine. All were good sized portions and very tasty for $20 with tax.     Why is it that every place seems to be getting worse? I hate downgrading restaurants, but is it just me, or shouldn't places be trying harder in this economy? We came back for breakfast the other day. The waiter was more interested in socializing with his friends than working. The potatoes were right out of an Ore Ida bag. Sausage was not good. Eggs were not good. Bread was ... actually, alright. All in all, just not worth coming back to anymore. I'd rather eat at IHOP, and that's saying a lot.

Also, they have their own parking lot, which makes it super convenient since you don't have to search for parking in WeHo.

    I came in for brunch and the food was great...BUT I think that any restaurant that serves "crab cakes" should actually use crab meat instead of imitation crab. The texture, and the bits of red imitation crab meat was a bit disappointing. That being said, the hollandaise sauce, potatoes, and English muffins were fantastic. I'm definitely coming back to try this place again sans crabcakes.

    The French Quarter is very much like Mimi's, so if you enjoy slightly French inspired soul food then this place is right up your alley. The decor attempts to resemble that of New Orleans but over all comes of a bit cheesy. Located inside the restaurant and surrounding the dining area are a bunch of little boutiques and gift shops, again in attempts to remind one of New Orleans. However the effect ultimately has the feel of Disneyland and begs the question do this shops only get business from those dining in the restaurant or would someone actually come to shop and not eat? Regardless it is odd. Despite all that the food was fairly good, far from healthy but delicious nonetheless. We ordered the Country Breakfast which is gluttony at it's finest, biscuits and gravy with a layer of sausage and eggs on top smothered in more gravy. Mmmm. And the Turkey Dinner Sandwich which has cornbread stuffing, cranberry mayo and gravy for dipping. For those of you who have enjoyed the Bobby from Capriotti's this sandwich is not nearly as good but will satisfy the craving until you can get the real deal. I'd recommend The French Quarter for a good hang-over breakfast but certainly not if you are counting calories.

    We drove from LAX to have lunch at the FQ one of out old time favorites. As others have said the server was slow in coming. My soup and entree arrived at the same time. The food was good except for the cold Sweet Potato Fries which were replaced immediately. it's a little sad inside, we both commented that the staff were not smiling or joyful, this included the manager who didn't stop at one table to say hello. The check arrived, we paid our bill and will eat elsewhere next time we go to WEHO.

    This restaurant definitely falls into the "their food tastes better when you're intoxicated" category. I have been here a couple times really late at night (they open till 3am) and always ordered the french onion soup and remember it being being one of the better ones I have had. We came back for a late lunch and had the same french onion soup and man, it was far from being good. Also had their pot roast dip sandwich and it was ok, nothing more than any ordinary diner. Funny I never realized mixing your french onion soup with alchohol in your blood would make that big of a difference.

    For me, this place is the ultimate breakfast getaway. Great French decor - from mini suspended hot air balloons to the surrounding mini, mock cobblestone street equipped with live working shops where I picked up a pair of Puma sneaks.     someone's review said this place wasn't very authentic. are you kidding me? you want authentic right in the heart of weho? what drugs are you on and can you share them with me? please! going anywhere in weho thinking you'll find authenticity is no less foolish than hooking up with a girl with big boobs in the area and expecting said boobs to be real or hooking up with a boy and not realizing he's at least half gay! what this place has is kitsch. once inside it gives the lie that you're sitting outside, with a fountain and stores around the restaurant and outside furniture tables and chairs to further enhance the experience. it has a very disneyland-esque feel which would make sense what with all the dorothy wanna be's. i rather liked the place except for the waitress that told me right before serving my friend and i that she'd rather be stabbing herself in the eye than working that day. but aside from said run-in, i had a good breakfast here and i think you will too. i can attest to the california benedict and my friend's order, the smoked salmon benedict. now, of course, this isn't a place i'd come for anything but breakfast, however, i hear their sliders are pretty tasty. hmmmm, sliders. their dinners are heavy on comfort food variety: meatloaf, beefstew, potroast. they don't appeal to me. for breakfast this place is tops nevertheless!

    Don't be fooled. This place is as French as a Denny's or a Dairy Queen. The red brick exterior and patio might be right out of New Orleans Square, but inside it is as cheesy as a shopping mall food court. Not one of those pristine new Westfields, but those old, rancid food courts from the eighties. It doesn't help that you are surrounded by a shoe store and various Hollywood souvenir shops. The food... Spectacularly average. Slightly overpriced. Just like your neigborhood Denny's. Or Norms. Or motel diner.

    For years I hated this place. It was a couple of blocks from my house and I never was crazy about the food. Then, on a whim, I went back in a phase where I was constantly craving bacon...... don't ask. Now I'm a convert, but only for the turkey club with the french onion soup or the cobb salad. For 11 dollars, you can eat pretty much two meals. I haven't tried the rest of their menu yet.

    The French Quarter is really just diner food with etouffee flair and a kitschy bourbon street interior you'd sooner see onstage. I'd lived in W. Hollywood for 4 years and had never tried it, so my roomie and I decided to patronize one early Sunday afternoon. I ordered the French Toast and he the Omelette. The food wasn't bad but wasn't good either. The French Toast was very basic but wasn't that bad. Although the maple syrup tasted like flavored simple syrup. My roommates was pretty large and he didn't finish it buy said he'd probably order again. The toasted muffins are great and I've heard the french onion soup is fantastic. Because I live literally right up the street, I'll probably go back on a semi-regular basis now, otherwise, I wouldn't make it a point to drive there. I've since tried a bbq bacon cheeseburger with spicy fries and their side salad. The salad is "meh." The burger was pretty good. Decent Mimosa, decent coffee. Moderately priced, not cheap though. IHOP would be about the same.

    Ok, the inside is gross-tacky, cheesy and just so painfully misguided. It labels itself the French Quarter but unless they are trying to recreate the seediest sides of New Orleans I don't know how the shops tie in. That's a given. But if you sit outside and focus on the food and service this place is really quite nice. My boyfriend and I came here around 8p on a weekday and the patio area was pretty full, as was the weird interior dining area. I chose the pesto chicken wrap in a sundried tomato tortilla and my boyfriend had a chicken caesar salad. Again, what these selections have to do with New Orleans, who knows, but what I do know is that my food was hella yummy. The flavors were unique and the portion generous. My bf liked that the caesar dressing was freshly made with anchovies. It was a completely reasonably priced meal that left my tummy happy. I also really liked the service here. The waiter was attentive and cute about the fact that my boyfriend and I were holding hands when he brought us food, commenting that he didn't want to be responsible for us having to separate them. Aww, cheesy personal story nobody needs or wants to hear! Whatever, bottom line is eating outside this place is very pleasant. I wouldn't choose to sit inside though, given the layout and decor. ......................................Update 4/30/08...........................................­................... Went back again last night and the pesto chicken wrap is still delicious, only now it comes with your choice of fries, mixed greens salad and...something else. The salad was generous and yummy with balsamic vinaigrette. It's a lot of food for the price. BF tried the baked onion soup and loved it. They may have some mediocre items but there are some tasty finds. Service is also always attentive.

    All I have to say is you get what you pay for...this being said, this place delivers on all fronts. As for the inane comparisons to Mimi's' Cafe. This joint, as far as I know, has been around since the late 70's/early 80's. Which, correct me if I'm wrong, predates Mimi's' by a few years. Therefore, in other words...you should be comparing Mimi's' to The French Quarter and not the other way around. Apparently, the reviewers that see this as a Mimi's' rip-off, are obviously that bridge and tunnel type that would frequent a Mimi's' or French Quarter in the first place. Reviewing either, is like reviewing Carl's Jr. or Denny's. There's no need for it, we've all been there, done that.

    For sentimental reasons, I give this place 5 stars. Try the onion soup. It's good. For breakfast, get a muffin and an omelet. I think it was the first real gay restaurant I experienced as a young lad. I really thought I had arrived in the land of plenty at that moment. Little did I realize the West side was just gay boot camp and the real world was the better place to be.

    My partner went here for breakfast. Hours posted on Internet are open at 7am. We arrived at 8:30am with a paper sign on the door stating the hours have changed. We then were greeted by this pretentious queen saying we will be open at 9am. Never will I step foot in this "so called" landmark again. A paper sign in 2012 ? You wouldn't even get a date with inaccuracies like this on the net !! 20 years and you suck !!

    Since I was kinda stuck in LA when Carmageddon happened (on my birthday, which was Friday), my BF wanted to take me to here for breakfast on Saturday morning. He had a Groupon that he bought a few weeks ago, and wanted to use it. We ordered some very tasty brunch items: I had the Crab Benedict and the BF had the Pot Roast Hash. My crab cakes were so good and went very well with the cilantro infused hollandaise sauce, and his dish was very yummy too! Awesome service too---I just wish French Quarter had French press coffee, then I'd give this place a solid 6 stars :)

    I love coming here. The patio is great and the inside is super cute. I am walking distance to this place so its great for brunch. I almost always get the bodybuilders breakfast... its my way of feeling a bit healthier for one meal. their muffins are to die for. always steaming fresh. I had the salmon salad once and wasnt impressed with the quality of the salmon or how it was cooked--way over done. I am deducting one star because the patio is also a smoking section. So if you want to enjoy the patio you have to deal with smokers. They should at least seperate the two sides of the patio into smoking or non smoking. We had to move once because some POS was chain smoking right next to us.

    I used to really like this place( before I knew any better) and before I became a "foodie". Went last night because some friends wanted to go. My partner and I shared the chinese chicken salad. It was "ok". There were slice d green apples on top. I thought that was kinda strange. I had the french onion soup. It was thin and insipid. It didnt have any real flavor at all. The onions were a tad crunchy too, they needed to be carmalized for a lot longer. A friend had the greek wedge salad. It looked like a HOT mess on the plate. A gigantic wedge of iceberg with some chopped tomatoes, feta, olives and dressing. Ick. Another friend had the fried zucchini. She enjoyed that, but then again, she can make a meal of chips and salsa or stone cold ice cream. I would not go back here, there are so many better restaurants around.

    One of my best friends from high school lived off Fairfax and Wilshire, just a short distance from French Quarter. (now he lives further So., off Fairfax near Pico) When I had business in W.L.A., I'd call Michael, and we'd run over here for lunch. For me, it was like a cafe, built by Disney, intended as a theme restaurant for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" (sp?), and on-site managed by the cast of "Attitude", the off-broadway show. (I just made that show title up, but it's sorta' catchy, no?) I liked Jack K's opening review comment; "Gay restaurant that at its core is essentially a greasy spoon but with good extras and higher quality food." I think he hit the nail on the head. I spent my elementary school years in the L.A. entertainment industry; the son of musicians. So based on my kid years around wonderful Aunt Sadie, who was an original "flora dora girl", and wore more makeup than a circus clown, and Uncle Roman, who ran off to Italy with his partner, after doing bit parts in 1950's television, I was, as a "kidlet", pretty well "de-sensitized" to anything "not like me." Maybe that's why I like FQ... it's a hint off different, which makes it a bit more interesting than a cookie-cutter franchise location. I really do like French Quarter. My first trip to FQ was with my wife and our Aunts who live in the BH area. We would always meet here for lunch, and we all enjoyed the menu, the food and the overall vibe. If you've never been, it's actually one of the better fooderies in the W. Hollywood area. Again........ think Mimi's, but with a makeover by a "slightly oldish" stylist from the SFV named "George."

    I always pass this establishment, but never really noticed it until a friend took me here for dinner. It turns out its sort of a business/shopping center with this French Quarter Restaurant located in the center. Interesting decorations; kind of felt like I stepped into a vegas casino. Had the the chicken tortilla soup with penne pesto pasta; both were really good, full of flavor and definitely generous in portions. By the time the penne pasta arrived, I could barely get through a 1/4 of the dish. Service was excellent as the waitress was really nice in genuine way; she always checked up on us.

    while driving around, starving for nourishment and turned off by the long wait everywhere else, we settled on the french quarter and totally paid for it. reminded me of a coco's/marie callendars/dennys with a creole/new orleans theme. eh, cheesy much? and it also kind of reminded me of the interior of paris hotel in vegas. hahaha what i ate: - pain perdue breakfast: came with breakfast potatoes, eggs, sausage or bacon, fruit or juice, and french toast stuffed with cream cheese and orange marmalade. - coffee - buttered toast pros: - food: overall, the food was quite alright. typical brunch fare. my friends though, were NOT a fan of their food (one got carbonara benedict? basically carbonara with two poached eggs on top - she was really craving pasta AND breakfast. my other friend got the breakfast burrito, but was disappointed by the fact that it was smothered in some weird tomato sauce) - parking lot: in this neck of the woods, free parking is a gem... just be aware that its one way only... we totally got yelled at by a working for entering the exit. my bads homie, but no need to get your panties in a bunch! - seated quickly... which is a pro when youre starving and salivated from just looking at the food thats passing by, but not really the best sign when its peak time for sunday brunch and we were seated right away. cons: - SERVICE! while the server was quite affable, the problem was we NEVER saw him. took a good 15 mins for us to even meet him after being seated. took another 15 mins before he took our order. took 30+ mins for our food to come out. at this point i was STARVING and really just wanted to go to the kitchen to get my own food. there is NO WAY IN HELL it took the kitchen that long to make the food; i know that the server FORGOT. why? because i saw that as he whizzed by our table and saw that it was still empty, he had that, oh shit look on his face. took him 20+ mins to come by for a coffee refill. getting our check? ha! ended up flagging down the most timid manager ever. so timid, that my desire to berate him for such poor service dissipated because i thought he'd break down in tears if i said anything. would i come again? NO. service was THAT bad. tips: - be aware that patio seating is 'first come first serve' - you basically have to find your own seat.

    I like coming here for Breakfast/Brunch and sitting in their cheesily decorated restaurant. It really is fun, though, looking at all the random decorations floating in the air above you. It's also weird cuz you would think the whole building is the restaurant, but inside is a business center. Their omelettes are great! That's all I ever really get. The last one I got was their California omelette and it was good!

    I wrote this a few years ago on Citysearch (Yelp wasn't even in the thoughts of its creators). I've had dinner there three times. Every time the food was less then mediocre and the service also desired improvement. They don't really pay attention to you, they don't care about you. Anyway, this weekend I tried their breakfast. What a mistake! The omelets looked disgusting, had no taste and the potato was totally burned. It was simply inedible. The waiter was not there mentally; he was still comatose from his night out. Why would anyone want to have breakfast there when a block down the boulevard there's Marco's with great breakfast that looks and tastes delicious and with a friendly staff. I mean, really, do you really go to a restaurant for just people watching? I go for the food and a good service. I, for the last time vowed that I will never go back. Years passed and I did go back twice due to peer pressure to try their dinner and breakfast again. Unfortunately, the place did not improve in any way, so I don't need to change my rating.

    One Sunday I had an egg white omlette there. I have never been sicker in my life! I thought I was going to die. I had diarrhea and vomiting and continuted to be sick for several days. My friend who dined with me did not get sick, however she did not have an egg white omlette. I haven t been back since. When I do go back it will not be to dine but to complain about what happened to me from eating their food.

    My friend and I randomly pulled into their lot as we drove around West Hollywood. Yes, they have parking, which already earns them a star =) As soon as we walked in, we were aw-ing about their decor...the restaurant is decorated to look like you are eating on the street in Paris. There are small stores within the restaurant so their window displays add to the experience. We also liked the fact that the clientele was eclectic too since we are in West Hollywood. I bumped into two hot drag queens in the women's restroom. The food was also quite impressive. I got the crabcake sandwich with fries ($11). The crabcake sandwich was on sweet baguette...I'm salivating just by remembering the sandwich. The crabcake was nicely fried with just the right amount of tartar sauce placed on top of it in the sandwich. Also, I just love baguettes. The fries were fresh and good too. I tried to eat everything on my plate but my stomach prevented me. My friend got sweet baguette french toast ($7), which was alright. I would recommend getting it in small because the regular is pretty big and I think it's a bit too much sweetness for anyone to finish.

    I continue to be disappointed in the "new" French Quarter Restaurant. Since taking over the business, the new owners have lowered the service level by cutting shifts of servers and bus staff. The food is generally still okay, and, lets face it, the French Quarter has been the go to place in West Hollywood for years. However, if the new owners continue cutting corners, it won't be the "In" place for long. I wish I could leave a better review.

    The French Quarter is good for a no frills relaxed meal. The food is relatively good, prices are reasonable, and the large outdoor patio is great on a sunny day! Friends and I have come to the Quarter and have never had one bad experience. The wait staff is polite and considerate. A plus to this place, is that inside the Quarter, you actually have some shops you can take a look around in. I am a sucker for Dorothy's Surrender. Pretty relaxed place overall and good for a sunday brunch, if you don't want to wait, and wait, and wait somewhere else for a table.

    I live near the French Quarter and have eaten here many times. It's a cute, unique neighborhood restaurant serving an eclectic mix of French-ified versions of American food. The menu is definitely a little different. Interesting sandwiches that are unique. They're not truly a Cajun or a French restaurant. They serve delicious, slightly unique or "Frenchified" versions of American classics. The string fries are delicious and I think they're double fried, or somehow cooked differently than regular fries. Very good. The bread pudding with whiskey sauce is amazing. My boyfriend and I frequently crave it and get it for take out. They have amazing soups available. Their Portuguese Sausage and Pinto Bean Soup, available on Saturday only, is so good I made a habit of eating at the restaurant every Saturday, just to have it. French Onion soup is, also, great according to my friend who ordered it. My boyfriend loves the tortilla soup, which I've also had, and it's very good. It's so rare you find a restaurant with great soup. Most just include it on the menu as an afterthought or health food staple. Some of their menu items can be a little hit and miss. The Sloop John B burger was flavorless despite the bacon. The fish in their fish and chips aren't crispy. Occasionally, service is a little slow if you're sitting outside. There's no way for the waiter to see his tables while he's checking on your food, so it's understandable. Santa Monica Blvd is great for people watching, but it's a major thoroughfare with a lot of smog. I recommend sitting inside and seeing the adorable little white fenced dining area with a gazebo in it. I know this is a place I'll return many times for the unique food selections and great Bread Pudding.

Anyway-if it's one of those days that you simply want to enjoy Cali's amazing weather and people watch- come to this place and eat outdoors! If you want to have a more intimate brunch, simply step inside and you will feel like you have just been teleported to France-or the Venetian in Vegas-ha! I ordered a beautiful French toast plate, decorated with blackberries and raspberries ...mmm :) My friend ordered a pastry filled with cream cheese- omg- this was amazing! Service is great-Very attentive, will fill up your glass every 15 min, and my waiter was a bit funny and oh-so gay! Gotta love weho! Overall- really cute place, awesome service, good food- what more can you ask for? I am definitely coming back! Btw- I think this place is awesome for a brunch date with mom :)

It's not somewhere you would want to go if you were having a dinner party or a dinner with out of town friends because of the slow paced feel.     This place is sooooo adorably cheesy. It is like it own little world in the world of West Hollywood. It takes place inside an indoor yet outdoor appearance. All of the tables protect you from the faux sunlight beaming down on you. It is bright, colorful, and you are surrounded by interesting shops. Service is good, wine not too bad, and I enjoyed my salmon. They are open breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My next trip will most likely be for a Sunday brunch...I can't wait!

    I've always liked the French Quarter. I like the gay and festive atmosphere, and the food has never been less than decent. I've been twice in the last week, after a very long hiatus. I was a little shocked to see how few people there were at prime lunch time. I really like their Reuben sandwich, which is not a normal reuben (no sourkraut or corned beef) but one much more to my liking. Their fries are tasty, and I'm quite partial to the onion soup. I remember breakfasts being good, too. After dining, you should drop into Baby Jane, a fun memorabilia shop with a gay and festive atomosphere - it's run by a very nice fellow. You can find a not-too-unreasonably priced Joan Crawford autograph, as well as photographs that have penises, books, showcards, a few LPs, and more photographs that have penises.

    A hybrid of Mimi's Cafe meets Denny's meets Cafe Du Monde. The restaurant is nice for an independent but has all the makings of a chain diner style restaurant, minus the patio area which sets it apart and makes it kind of charming. I don't think I'd sit anywhere but on the patio. It's good comfort food and unlike a chain restaurant I would come here when in the area and in the mood for comfort (breakfast, burgers and sandwich) food. The food was good and the prices were fair.

    Ok so this will not be listed in the most glamorous restaurants of LA section. The decor inside looks like it hasn't left the late 60s-early 70s. However, you do get a decent amount of food and they keep you flowing in the drink. Service can be slow depending on the staff. Wait times for inside seating vary depending on the time of the day. Things I recommend here are good old comfort foods: cheese sticks, french onion soup, and burgers. The muffins are not too bad either. I used to go here once in a while when I lived in the valley. Parking is bad almost any time you go - expect a full lot and waiting. Street parking in the area is hit or miss meters. As others have said, a good place for 2 people to eat heartily for around $25 before tax and tip. I'd go back again. As for the girly remark - hello, this is West Hollywood.

    Not the greatest food but there are few places (and don't say Denny's) in LA where you can get brunch all day. Brunch is perhaps my favorite meal of the day -- salty, savory and wash it down with some alkeehall. The food isn't great, in fact it's just so-so, but the atmosphere seems pleasant enough and I was told (though I myself did not witness it) that one of the stores inside the little mini mall carries little Boy George dolls. Awesome.

    Chicken tortilla soup! I love love love their chicken tortilla soup. I want to bathe in it it's so delicious! I don't know what New Orleans cuisine is supposed to be and frankly, I don't really care.     I first came here I think back in 1998/9 and I wish we lived closer so we can go eat here all the time. The menu is great, and has just a little bit of everything for almost any appetite. Personally, I like the Portuguese sausage/bean soup. It is a meal in itself, but unless you are there on a Saturday, you are outta luck.     happened to stumble upon this place by recommendation on wednesday night at 10pm. it was pretty dead. we ate inside and felt like we were not in LA anymore. our waitress was from mongolia, very helpful! it just seemed like a whole out of body experience (not good or bad), maybe like the twilight zone? the portions here are huge and lots of choices in their menu! i would return for brunch and sit outside next time. parking is great as they have a pretty big lot.

    This place is a joy. I have frequented here since I was about 20 years old. So that's..uh...about a decade. The place has a fun, cozy yet kitschy atmosphere and everyone is nice there. It has an Old Hollywood feel as well. It is the last of the gay historical monuments in this town, where such places seem to be closing down weekly. They have a famous and loved fish pond in there, with HUGE coy fish and great stores to shop in as well. They are also open very late. The food is great and so far, the prices are fine.

    We ate at French Quarter Marketplace right before we left LA. It was kinda a random pick, we saw it because the place we were trying to go next door was closed. There is a nice porch, where we ate, and then you can eat inside, which has a patio section or regular section. Don..t eat inside! There is horrible, horrible elevator music loudly playing it would annoy me so much if I..d been in there. I could barely stand it when I was in the bathroom! There are also a bunch of stores inside as well. The food all looked very good. It..s been a while since I..ve had such Americanized food (that..s not from a diner) and I enjoyed it. My friend N and I both had the pasta with goat cheese, pinenuts, sun dried tomatoes, and spinach, which was a little heavier than I thought it would be, but still good. J and R had the blackened chicken pasta, and Jn had the soup and cobb salad combo. All meals come with a choice of salad or soup, and then bread or muffin. I had been craving a salad, so I was happy, and my friends enjoyed their French onion and crab soups as well. And even the garlic toast was good. They had breakfast all day, which I was tempted to get, as well as some good looking meat dishes or salads. I had a hard time choosing.. The bad thing was that it was Sunday brunch time, and super-busy.. There wasn..t enough staff. One waiter and one bus boy for our whole large section didn..t cut it, and we had to wait forever for our meals, for drinks, for the check, and for them to process our cards. Really good though, especially if you..re local.

    It's difficult to explain why this place is one of my fallbacks - the decor is very much on the border of tacky and kitsch, the food is generally unremarkable, and the ambience is somewhere between surreal and depressing. But, dear Yelpers, I shall endeavor to explain why I go here at least a few times a month: (1) I like the caesar salad combo that comes with French onion soup and a muffin (cornbread, apple spice, blueberry, etc.). I'm not saying it's the best chicken caesar/soup/muffin/anything they serve you will ever have in your life, because I should hope dear god that it's not, but there's something about the combination that is perfect in its blandness, much like the way I sometimes crave cafeteria-style spaghetti (done very well at Swingers, might I add). And, they tend to crisp the cheese on the soup, which is always good. (2) The decor is hideously and tiredly garish, kind of like a suicidal clown (or alternatively, the strip malls of West L.A.). Most of you at this point may be thinking that this is a strike against it, but those of you who know the Madonna Inn will appreciate this. (3) Parking! There is plenty of it in the lot next door, although you may have to wait during busy times. (4) It is open late, I think at least past midnight. And (5) if you should have to wait, you can check out Dorothy's Surrender, the shop to the left at the entrance of the building, for interesting cards and other gifts.

    The interior of this West Hollywood institution was designed to look like a New Orleans street scene, but the overall effect is that of a tasteless theme room in a tacky wedding hall. However, this is one of the few places in the area where you can spend less than $20.00 and not leave hungry. The food is fine, as long as you stick to simple fare like salads (the Cobb is excellent), a Reuben sandwich, burgers (thick and juicy, served with a choice of soup, fresh chilled fruit, crisp and salty steak fries, or mixed greens), and omelets (overloaded with fillings and served with a choice of juice or fresh fruit, breakfast potatoes, and toast or a muffin; the chicken and artichoke combo is especially good). The kitchen is less successful when it gets more ambitious. Braised pot roast was dry and tough, and the gravy in the Shepherd's beef stew contained lumps of the flour used to thicken it. The mahi mahi was supposed to be blackened, but it tasted as if it was by accident rather than design. There's a full-service bar with a surprisingly good selection of wines from vintners as far afield as Chile and Australia. Apparently, the majority of those who come here do so to people watch, either from the covered patio out front (where you must contend with exhaust fumes and noise from the traffic on Santa Monica Boulevard) or inside, where table hopping is not uncommon, as everyone seems to know each other or have a mutual acquaintance. The later the hour, the better the show - once the nearby bars close on the weekend, there no doubt are more drag queens here than at Carnivale in Rio. Service is erratic, as the place always appears to be understaffed, especially at prime dining hours. At times our waiter has been friendly and attentive, on other occasions harried when he managed to put in a brief appearance.

    The Yelp Elite Event, left me with quite the hunger. Although I enjoyed myself thoroughly in the event my appetite was left to be satisfied. As kimchi noodles, 2 sashimi biscuit appetizers, 3 mini kabob appetizers, free sake beer, hefeweizer, and a long island did my stomach no justice. CJ and myself decided to accompany with some local LA Yelpers and OC Yelpers to go to this little French Getaway. While reminiscing on last year's festivities at a prior Yelp Elite Event (reference to Seven Hollywood review), with Mike L, my acquaintance Charlie, and myself would walk by this place only to come back a year later to re-visit. The heavy downpour was a reminded that maybe we should take a break before the trek home. The occupants were as follows: CJ, Wes, Myself, Christine, Tim, Kevin F, Andrew, Tim C., Jenn, Mike L., Kolbe and Mike F. The orders varied, from Chicken Salad to their infamous French Onion soup, which was quite appetizing indeed. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, since I felt like breakfast was needed for the drive back to the Orange Curtain. The Eggs Benedict was good, definitely nothing to complain about. It reminded me of the quality from Crepeville in Davis, Ca. The ambiance was lively for a late night gathering of relaxed Yelpers. Exchanging stories with one another from hometowns to the infatuation of 50 cent and his Vitamin Water empire. The service was excellent, and well attended. The tab was pretty reasonable considering it was 10 bucks for a full meal with drink, usually I go to breakfast places spending at least $20.00 at Denny's. Which I thought was reasonably cheap. Overall a good after event, and a wet ride home but worth the trip indeed.

    I seem to end up at the French Quarter a lot, because they are open so late. It's a great spot for grabbing a meal after a play or concert. Food- It's okay. Crazy large portions of mediocre food. They try to make it nice and have a fairly extensive menu. On Friday night, I ordered the pot roast- served with a dinner salad, mashed potatoes and cooked spinach. It was okay, but I think this is a place where it's better to stick to breakfast items or sandwiches. Don't get fancy with it! Service- Okay. Always nice, but kind of slow. Ambiance- This is probably the coolest thing about French Quarter. It feels like you are eating at Disneyland. Really cute and different. They have a huge lot, which is monitored. Don't be deterred by the nightclub next door, they save parking for the restaurant.

But you go to the French Quarter for the AMBIENCE. So cheesy, but so whimsical! It's a cross between Disney and Lawrence Welk. Revel in the gazebos and little souvenir stores. Delight in the fountain with koi. All indoors and for your viewing pleasure. The waiters are sweet and helpful and make you feel at home.     Great location, nice outside seating area, very mediocre food. Pro'ly okay if you're not picky - although doubt you're reading Yelp if you're not picky. I would come here for tea or maybe french fries, but that's about it. A friend of mine always likes eating here, but I try to avoid it and suggest other places. I've only been 3 or 4 times, but never had a meal that I enjoyed. For me, 3 stars means I wouldn't choose to go there, but still decent. French Quarter gets about 2.5 stars.

    I've been here a few times for brunch on a Sunday... it's a huge restaurant but it seems like mostly people are sitting outside on the front porch. The brunch menu has a ton of choices. I get the California benedict which is AWESOME! I remember the first time I ate it, I kept telling the people I was with, "This is so good...., no really this is SO good!" I think it probably got annoying. Anyways, the prices are great, fairly cheap actually and the food is delicious. There's something everyone will like here. On a nice day, it's great to sit outside, I've actually never sat indoors here. Another great thing, they have a descent sized parking lot so you don't have to worry about annoying street parking on Santa Monica. The only thing that's weird about this place is... I'm not sure what it's called The French Quarter, the menu choices don't seem all that French to me... so don't come here expecting exquisite French cuisine, you'll probably be disappointed.

    Don't be fooled by the "French" exterior this place is a BAD American cafeteria. The only French item on the menu is the French Onion Soup. The rest is a mix up of lackluster Mexican, America & Italian dishes. Our meal was so bad and took so long our waiter called the kitchen "retarded" and helped us argue for a full refund which they gave us with out much of a hassle. My advice is go eat somewhere else.

    We ate lunch around two o'clock today (Sun) seated right away, waited about 5 minutes for waiter to take drink order. At least 10 more minutes for our food order to be taken. It wasn't crowded and the ambience was nice. Food was fairly quick and tasted fine. DH got patty melt, I had French toast bananas foster. Nothing outstanding.

    Gay restaurant that at its core is essentially a greasy spoon but with good extras and higher quality food. It's a great local West Hollywood gay joint with decent food and likable staff though the service can be a bit negligent. The Simms family owns the restaurant which also owns the Kettle, and are big Republicans (which might explain why the waiters are understaffed which is the chief problem). Nevertheless it's very much a popular local joint with regulars who have eaten there for years. It's open late into the night on Fridays and Saturdays. If you are gay, you should know that Simms donates a shitload of money to the GOP which basically loves the gays as long as they don't plan on getting married or trying to get into the military. Still, it doesn't seem to hurt business. Also beware of finding something on the menu you really like: Simms likes to change it up so great desserts and other dishes have a way of disappearing. The Hula Pie was like a Bob's Big Boy Hot Fudge Cake but better. The rice pudding was removed from the menu for years and brought back and is quite good. The Reuben has coleslaw not sauerkraut and is great. The oeufs pain perdu is a stuffed French toast which is also great. If you want to get a look at the ordinary rank and file middle class gay world of West Hollywood, this is the place. Old, young, thin, fat, drunk, sober, insane, recovering, the whole bit wrapped up in a place that makes the Madonna Inn look tasteful. I would give the restaurant a 4, and I have gone there for years, but the prices recently have gotten pretty outrageous for what is at its heart, still a greasy spoon.

    I only went in there because it was raining and my friend and i wanted something to eat before going back to the Lomography store- I thought about walking west where more restaurants are but because of the rain decided to try this place out. Let me just say, my friend and I were so weirded out by this place, we couldn't concentrate on the food. Food was alright. I had the french toast and my friend had a salad- Neither great or horrible. Service was alright friendly, but not really timely. I've never seen so many older people one small place in LA- It kinda felt like I walked into a different world (twilight zone! i am not sure if it's the whole point of the restaurant)- whatever charm it was supposed to have, we didn't get it. It was interesting but never again!

    When we first moved to West Hollywood we went to the French Quarter a lot because its really close and everyone seemed to like it. Then one day after a particularly disgusting meal, we realized that we were paying top shelf prices for disgusting food that we often had to send back (which I have never done anywhere else), poor to non-existent service and creepy creepy ambiance (inside at least). I walk by it almost every day and it's always full so some must like it, but if you can avoid it, do so.

    Today was my first time dining at this fine establishment. I must say it was quite familiar to the hotel Paris in las Vegas. Complete with feaux French lampposts, copious iron filigree, and random mini-shops within the restaurant. .....on to the food! I ordered the mardi gras omelet. It came with you choice of fresh juice or a small plate of fruit...basically liquid or solid. I went with the fruit. My omelet was so perfectly cooked, I wonder if they have some sort of omelet making device. The potatoes on the side were good too. Nice and diced up with a crispy grilled on crust. The only reason I took off one star was due to the toast selection. They use the kind of bread that costs 99 cents at any discount grocery store. FQ management, if you ever happen to come across my review, please upgrade your bread selection, other than that...keep making good food:) Waitstaff was a bit odd and the clientele that day was reminiscent of Orphan Andy's in the Castro if you've ever been.

    I came here with a group of five for brunch and we sat on the patio. It took a long time for a waiter to come and take our drink orders. And $7 for a mimosa? Ouch! They were definitely not strong enough to warrant the price tag. The food all looked expensive, but they give you a MOUNTAIN of it. No one was able to finish their meal. I had the Pancake Breakfast, which was tasty. The pancakes were thick and fluffy, and all the other food was decent. Service was good once he came to take the drink order. Not sure if I would come back.

    I'm writing this review because I'm having a mixed emotions about this place. Food was just right. Not great but not bad at all too. Nothing special though. The service was inconsistent. The waiter who served us the first time we went here was okay, smiling and always checking on us. The last waiter though is just the opposite, just came to get the orders and never checked on us again. The order came late, but it was fine. The place was cute, although we really wanted to sit by the patio, we can't tolerate the smoke since it's also the smoking area. Hope they can do something about it.

It's a place I meet up with friends for lunch or dinner on occasion and we always have a nice time. The parking is great because there is free lot right next door :)

    This place is pretty gay. Not like uncool, but rather, homosexual. Lots and lots of gays. I guess that makes sense as it is in the middle of west hollywood. They have little shops all around like a queer Santee Alley, all indoors. It's a limitless smorgasbord of French gay man fun. It's kinda like the French quarter at Disneyland and just as faggy. Go. You'll have a gay old time. The soup is good. So are the cream pies and hot Carl's... err I mean french fries. They have a nice selection of tea bags from around the world. Open late. ;)

    The French Quarter Market Place is cute inside. After living here for 4yrs, I finally went inside, and didn't realize, not only is it a restaurant, it also had stores inside! Just like the French Quarter in New Orleans, there were mini stores inside, it was cute. There, I also had the French Onion Soup, which was delicious, and the salmon burger - totally would recommend it. It was yum.

    This place is so frilly and cutesy, My Granny would have loved it! Normally I wouldn't have even stepped foot into this place but I came with my queens and have to admit, it's a keeper. I love the crab cake sandwiches, cobb salad, French onion soup, chicken fingers and their carrot raisin muffins. I'm sad to hear that Dorothy's Surrender has moved. It was part of the experience, such a cool little gift store. At least it hasn't moved too far away.

    This is the place we go to when want to go out to eat, but don't really want to think about it. It's fun, laid back, the food is fine - not amazing, but not bad. The French onion soup and the desserts through are amazing. Here you can get larger portions, good food and then pick up a fun gift for a friend or yourself on your way out or while you are waiting for your food. I personally am waiting to be seated at the gazebo. It looks like a great place and it s surrounded by the pond. Yea!

    This establishment is so refreshing, unique and cute. You have to stop by and go inside to understand what I'm talking about. I've always driven by this place and wondered if it's good. But boy was I in for a nice surprise when I finally walked inside for lunch one day. There's a courtyard inside the building complete with a little fountain and plantation. There are store fronts and windows lining all 4 sides of the walls. There's even an upstairs level with more stores and some offices. Even though you're inside you feel like you're sitting outdoors. It's very Vegas Paris-esque but not as fancy. The food is great. I had a glass of their fresh Blackberry Lemonade, a bowl of French Onion Soup and warm spinach salad with bacon dressing. It was GREAT! I left feeling so warm and tingly and ready to get back to work. I would love to come back to this place another day, maybe on a weekend for brunch. The service was exceptional! Our server was so friendly and accommodating. He made the experience that much better.

It never really quite stood out despite the number of times I've stopped by. Menu is varied and doesn't seem focused to the type of cuisine that the name would cause one to expect.     If you miss the culinary palate of Bakersfield, but can't make the drive out there because of your gout, have I got the restaurant for you! The interior is unique and only slightly creepy but the patio is the place to be. The people watching is incredible. If you like cracked out homeless people performing scenes from "Sweet Charity" or "Medea" it can't be missed! Have you hailed a cab in midtown manhattan during rush hour in the rain? Great! You'll be equipped to deal with their reclusive wait staff successfully. And if you love fresh vegetables as much as I do you should probably swing by at some point to see where they go to die.

    This is a large and elaborate French experience/restaurant that was among he most traditional in Los Angeles. They serve both regular and sweet potato fries. The fries were of average quality, and it was not clear if they were fresh or frozen. They had only a small amount of skin at the ends. There was little or no seasoning and both (but particularly the sweet potato fries) were somewhat bland.

    Suprise! Great eggs benedict. Not bad at all. The decor is something like eating in a Movieland Wax Museum, and some of the guests look like statue installations, but its interesting none the less. Some foodies would crap a boatload if they had to endure sitting under plastic trees, but when you are hungover and in dire need of something decent, eating dirt in a shanti would suffice at that point, but give it a shot. It's great hangover food if you find yourself in that neck of the woods some awfully bright and painful morning after....

    To start off, I love the idea of French Quarter. The French Quarter Restaurant is within a small indoor plaza that has been decorated to look like you are outside. All the stores have a facade of a New Orleans-ish looking building. Just think of New Orleans Square done cheaply and indoors and you get a rough idea of the interior decoration. Although it looks cheesy, I actually enjoyed it. It is very different and gives a quaint and cozy atmosphere. I have only tried one dish, but I hope to go there soon and try other dishes. Their French Onion Soup was very delicious, although it was on the salty side. But, then again, I think French Onion Soup is that salty in general. But it tasted very good overall. Their "Original Reuben (1914)" is amazing. The reuben was juicy and full of flavor, with sauerkraut that was just as good on a rye bread. The Reuben at French Quarter is definitely not a subtle dish, but full of strong flavors from the sauerkraut, rye, and mustard and the reuben itself. The flavors complements each other very well and does not clash. The Reuben and French Onion Soup may have been on the heavier side for lunch, but it was well worth it. A great comfort food.

    Reasonable price, tasty food. i got the bbq chicken salad but i was surprised because the chicken was roasted and doused with bbq sauce but not overwhelmingly. it's also a fun interior with lots of stores. there's one with old hollywood photos of stars. their baked goods are also good. parking is kind of bad but the valet guy is really nice and helpful even though he's really a security guard who isn't a valet but wanted to help us find a parking spot. their fish is a little bit overpriced but kind of worth it. their french fries are GREAT. definitely gay friendly place. it was cool seeing an old queer couple eating together with their friend, all signing. strongly recommend this place if you want more than just a restaurant experience with cool shops come here!

    Disclaimer: I'm completely biased. I liken the French Quarter experience to that 90's sitcom, "Cheers" where "everybody knows your na - a - ame...." That's the case here once you've become a regular, which -- truth be told -- does not take all that long to accomplish. Although I have patronized this establishment for two decades on and off, I didn't achieve "regular" status until, oh, six years back when I was -- no joke -- issued a formal invitation to the staff Christmas party. I don't think that had happened before, and I don't think it's happened since. I couldn't go -- family holiday elsewhere. I'd have happily turned out to celebrate because the people who work here are part of the experience that makes the French Quarter such a great place to dine, hang out, mix with friends, make new friends; from early morning to late nights, the invitation to come in and make of it what you want is always there. I wrote the bulk of my M.F.A. thesis sitting at the counter -- and I'm not kidding. That was three years ago -- from 2007 to 2009 -- during which time I discovered the restaurant furnished Wifi (some reviewer here noted Wifi was not available. Wrong! And I know where all the electric outlets are located -- five, to be precise...). The menu is wide-ranging, and unlike many establishments, the restaurant makes breakfast available all day. I am a picky eater no matter where I dine, and I'm more than likely inclined to ask the kitchen to do it my way. (High cholesterol is my nemesis, so I'm wary of anything with too much fat -- red meat, especially, butter, whole milk, high-caloric dressings. A couple of years back, I went on a strict diet of eggs and veggies.) Here, I don't worry about getting a sideways look or being told the kitchen can't accommodate my request -- and I never get "attitude" for creating my own version of a dish on the menu. Case in point: One of my favorites is a chicken stir fry dish, but the chicken isn't the primary appeal of this combination for me, so I thought, why not eliminate the cholesterol source -- as low fat as possible? I asked if I could substitute a crumbled up veggie pattie instead of chicken. No problem. You know what? It's delicious. Just this week, I overheard a customer say she was a vegetarian -- what could she eat? I couldn't help myself: I butted in and offered the stir fry, which she went for. The kitchen has since provided me Denver omelettes with veggie pattie, as well as a linguini dish without meat, substituting instead marinara and sauteed mushrooms, onions and bell peppers, dry rye toast instead of garlic bread -- wonderful! My latest fave is found on the appetizer section but has become an entire meal for me: hummus (humus?) and pita bread, olives, cucumber slices and dill pickles substituted for tomato slices (sugar content and carbs, eliminated). The servers have taken to asking me, "Your usual?" The restaurant has new owners, and they've been judicious in their choices where change is concerned. The drink menu now includes French Market versions of margaritas and Bloody Mary choices -- lower alcohol content, but tasty nonetheless as I can personally attest to. And only this week (I'm just this side of ecstatic to report) -- draft beer (or draught, if you're picky) with six or so options, on tap, at your order. Much of the decor remains original: This is a place where -- taken individually, on a list -- well, nothing much should,work, but does. What can cheerfully be described as gaslight gaudy has a New Orleans-esque charm that attracts a wide range of patrons, from the young crowd (especially late nights after hours from several trendy clubs within walking distance) to the white-haired, many of whom have been coming here for decades. Since this is West Hollywood, situated on a prime corner location in the midst of a corridor connecting Hollywood and Beverly Hills, chances are you'll find yourself people-watching when you least expect it. In the last month, I've chatted up "Friends With Benefits" and "The Black Swan" star Mila Kunis (here with friends to take in Peter Mac's one-man show, a send-up of Judy Garland in the new FQ show room). I happened upon rising actress Lily Collins; she was in the midst of an LA Times interview to promote her new movie opposite Julia Roberts -- "Mirror, Mirror." "Everybody Loves Raymond" actress Doris Roberts was a few tables away recently dining with friends (she's soon to join the cast of a new ABC sitcom called 'Counter Culture'). And just today, veteran actress Dena ("It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!") Dietrich was sitting with folks at a table just feet away. Today, I sampled a brand-spanking new addition to the menu -- and best of all, it's fat free! Soup lovers (and aren't we all?) will love the minestrone soup. I am partial to the chicken tortilla -- excellent! But fat free? And tasty? I'm thinking this new soup and I are gonna be on a first-name basis!

    I cannot emphasize how bad the food is here... I ordered an omelet (doesn't matter what omelet plate it was because I'm sure it'll be just as bad) which came with a potato side. The omelet was so watery, it made the turkey in it nauseating. Then I tried the potato, and that was so dry it tasted like cardboard. My friend ordered scrambled eggs and bacon... the eggs were so gross... he pressed down the egg with his fork... it spread like clay and there came out water. This killed his appetite so he made the server take it back. I wanted to give them one more try, so I switched it out for french toast. Wrong again. I mean really, how do you fuck up french toast!!!! Ugh... so disappointed. I had one bite and stopped. You would think with all this disappointment, they would just comp it? NOPE. They did not even try to accommodate our taste.     My friends and I tried to a nearby popular breakfast spot (that will go unnamed) and since we didn't want to wait, we drove around and settled for French Quarter. The food: We each ordered something different from the breakfast menu. First of all, the fruit plate was sparse, consisting of one slither of five fruits on an ugly lettuce leaf. Eggs benedict and potatoes required some salt. It was nothing great. Service: It was a'ight. Decor: This was probably the most entertaining part. It had quirky decorations and it was to look like It is in the middle of a street surrounded by stores. At least there's parking. But IHOP has parking, too...

    This restaurant is so different from anywhere I've ever been that I make it a point to visit everytime I am in LA. The decor makes you feel like you are in a French-themed restaurant at a low-budget amusement park, but the food is actually really good. Portions are large and service is always wonderful. Excellent location. The shops surrounding the tables are funny and eclectic and worth a quick peek into each. Everytime I walk in, I just think, "This place is so random!" And it is always an extremely positive experience.

    OK, so it's not Spago, but most menu items are prepared from scratch, and if you know what to order, you won't be let down. It is also important to follow the three-r rule when being seated. If you can't get a table in Ron, Raymond, or Russel's sections, stick to the counter! Must have: spinach salad, pot roast, tasso lasso omelette, huevos rancheros, French onion soup, 1129 sandwich, Tuscan chicken Must skip: artichoke omelette, anything with the word "benedict" in it

    I don't know what all the complaints are about. I have been here a handful of times and every time has been wonderful. I usually eat brunch outside. I don't know if this makes a difference or not. Their bran muffins are exceptionally amazing, with a tinge of honey. I was there yesterday and the service was superb. I never had to ask for a refill. They were on top of everything. I do have to say that the inside of the restaurant is pretty unique... reminds me of Vegas a bit. It is a bit too dimly lit for my taste, which is why I sit outside. I do appreciate it. I understand what they are doing. I would definitely recommend French Quarter Restaurant. Try it out for brunch someday. The Eggs Benedict is wonderful. You can try traditional, California style or Crabcake Benedict too! And don't forget to try the bran muffins. To die for!

    I love love love love LOVE this place! I miss it soooo much! Well, I miss L.A. in general, but this place is so awesome! I used to come here every so often when I visited friends who lived nearer to it than I did. We had the same server a few times; he became was my favorite. The other guys all did a fantastic job, too, of course. The food was always tasty, and it's just fun being in the place (stores inside the restaurant, so cute!).     When I was younger, I was all excited in going to Rainforest Cafe when they first opened. You know the experience...the hooky get up of a jungle like props and decorations for the restaurant. It was equipped with an animaltronic elephant with an annoying Dolby surround sound roar. Throw in a few occasion jungle noise and voila! They now can justify in overcharging a meal right in front of you. It's all about the decor, but not about the food & service. Somehow, that is how I really felt about this place. As Ryan M. accurately described in his review, we passed by here on our way home from the Seven Hollywood Elite event last year. On our way home, we fondly talked about this place as something we need to stop by next time when we are up here again. Well, slap me silly because coincidence don't happened too often because on our next elite event, we were close enough to come by here again. Looking from the outside, it looked very nice with a cute Parisian looking cafe style diner. When we walked inside, the place looked like indoor courtyard, but obviously with the tables are indoor. We lucked out getting a table in the gazebo right in the smack dab center of the food-court like room. The gazebo looked nice like a round picnic chapel over heads. It parked itself suspended up in the air right between the first floor courtyard and the 2nd floor where the restrooms and private rooms are at. Interestingly, there are stores and gift shops surrounding this restaurant. I will have to browse the places next time. I have to give them high props for the way on how the place looked. It's the other stuff that sort of bring it down for me. Their big ticket item that our dining companions raved about was their French Market Onion soup. Maybe I should have got that, but somehow I wasn't feeling up for a bowl of soup. I decided to take a shot at their Italian Omelets which was surprisingly a little bit runny on the eggs. My companion next to me ordered the California skins with bacon on it. That was delicious and if I wasn't that intent on ordering a big plate of breakfast, I would have gladly taken the onion soup with an order or California Skins. The service wasn't that bad as we got a jolly chap who seemed to be running to get our orders. Although he did forget some items, but when you reminded him of what you needed, he would be on top of his game. Not a bad guy, but I guessed a little bit overwhelmed with our big groups with lots of demands and needs. If I say the place has nice look, but lacks the substance, I would be harsh on that. I think place can improve a bit on the serving of the eggs, but some of my dining companions likes the way their egg cooked, so I guessed I would be in the minority of this one. It was a pleasant dining experience with an interesting decor. This is one of those place that need repeat visits to warm up your feeling about this kind of place. It reminds me of Woody Allen movies, you might not like it the first time, but once you seen enough times, you'll come around to it. This place is just like the movie "Bananas". It will take repeat trips for me to warm up to it. Otherwise, it's just going to be another Rainforest Cafe for me.

    This is one of those places for me. When you can't decide and everyone wants something different, you go to the French Quarter. When you have tourists coming in from out of town, you go to the French Quarter. When it's 1am and you're coming from the airport and you're starving because plane food sucks, you go to the French Quarter. The portions are huge, the service is awesome, and the food is basic and comforting. Their coffee is a bit weaksauce at times but I like mine strong. Their blueberry muffins are a thing of marvel - though be warned that by dinner time, they're usually gone. Plus, the place is adorable. It just is. The shops are cute and fun to look through and the sounds of the koi pond are relaxing. It's just a delight. Try the blueberry muffin.

    My friend told me he wanted some cheesy chicken pasta for dinner. This was unusual since he hates pasta. We decided to just get in the car and drive. We started heading into West Hollywood. I wanted to check out Eat Well but for some odd reason, the lure of free parking next to French Quarter was more appealing. We should have kept driving. Now, I've never been to New Orleans but I have been to Disneyland. This place reminded me of gaudier areas of Dland. With huge awnings, parasols and white painted metal everywhere, I felt like I was a lost Southern Belle. It was also a bit weird that there are shops everywhere surrounding us. We were also the youngest couple there so this is not really a happening place. We perused the menu (which told us it was merely a suggestion and we should be creative) and I selected the Louisiana under the burgers section. It was a burger with bacon, avocado, 1000 Island dressing on sourdough. The waiter asked me "burger?" when I ordered and I said yes thinking he meant the Louisiana burger. I got a burger. I poked it and wondered how could this be so different from what I ordered. I called over the waiter and asked him about it. He said, "but you ordered the burger." Well, I ordered the Louisiana burger. He took it away and eventually brought back an overcooked patty (I asked for this to be medium) but yes with bacon (not crispy, more like ham in texture), avocado, thinly sliced red onion, tomato (too out of season and tasteless) and yay, crispy sourdough. The dressing was on the side which I used to give the burger some taste. The waiter had apologized about the burger switcheroo and continued to ask if I was all right. Service was fine but I didn't really enjoy the burger. It had all the right elements though. Oh, and my side salad was overdressed. It didn't seem that way at first but as I got towards the bottom, there was a big pool of balsamic vinegrette on the plate. It numbed my lips with its tartness. I know the owners of the restaurant used the French Quarter as kind of a test kitchen before starting and then later selling off the Mimi's chain. I hate to say it but I think I actually prefer Mimi's and I hate that restaurant chain! My friend thought his food was okay. The only good thing about this place is the huge free parking lot which is a commodity in WeHo. Update: I forgot to mention they list Kraft mac and cheese on the menu. I ask you, is it that hard to make it at home? Why drive go to French Quarter for this?

    Why pay $91 for a one-day Disneyland pass when you can go to Gay-land for free? I am definitely amused by the... the colorful and extremely kitschy atmosphere with the white picket fences, the pond, the gazebo, the shops. The colorful people. I find it so adorably cheesy and entertaining. Why I continue to come back here despite its wackiness-- I don't know. I just do. It's a very unusual piece of WeHo offering full-blown gaiety and huge 2-meals-in-one portions of decent food. Their French Onion soup is the best! The boutique shops inside are too much fun... such as Dorothy's Surrender for quite... interesting and hilarious gifts. Find Wizard of Oz memorabilia and glance over, a whole bunch of penis greeting cards. So much for my childhood innocence! Aha! I just realized the reason why this place makes my heart feel so young and gay. "The Wizard of Oz" was my favorite movie as a kid (I must have had 3 pairs of ruby slippers growing up). That's it! Absolutely does give you a taste of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz... Except there are no lions, tigers or bears... Just a whole bunch of Dorothys strutting about. And tasty food that you'll never be able to finish in one sitting. Oh my! ::sings:: We welcome you to Munchkinland-- Tra la la la la la la!

    What I can say, it doesn't take a lot to make me happy.... walking distance location, beer and wine (and great mimosas) bar, patio seating, and breakfast served 24/7?! French Quarter is just a feel good food type of place (nothing too fancy or sceney). Need a place where you can seat yourself, order up a great simple eggs and bacon breakfast *honey bran muffin included * at 4pm, and have a great iced cappuccino, this is your spot. Extra bonus for all you smokers...you can light up anywhere in their patio area.

    I love eating here, particularly the patio. On a warm day it is casual eating bliss. It is very casual and the servers are friendly, and campy at times. A varied menu of nice quality -- I go for the comfort foods myself. I definitely recommend it. As a longtime customer a couple things they just started doing annoyed me a bit. They just started charging $2 for parking on weekends. They also started charging $2 for the nicely portioned salad or soup that was previously included with entree's.

    The inside of this place is setup like a small village with different areas with small nooks and places for seating. I like the decor and the food and the wait staff is very friendly and quick.

    This is a great place to go for breakfast if you're in the area. I took my gf here earlier this year and we both loved out food. The service was excellent as well but I'm a gratuitous person so he took care of us hand and foot. I heavily recommend that you visit the French Quarter at least once

    Happened into this sidewalk cafe / restaurant by accident. (wife had to use the facilities) - AND we were hungry, so we elected to try it. Not bad. Seemed a bit out of our realm for the time. We usually like simple. Tried the chicken stir-fry (at a french restaurant?). Luckily, we split the order...it was HUGE. The house salad was huge too! We left taking about half the order with us. The food was very good (then again, kinda hard to really screw up chicken stir-fry), and the wait staff was VERY attentive (prepare to tip!).

    Have been Going here now for years but in the last two years have been meeting a group of friends here on Saturday Nights. We seat in Joey's the waiters section and are always satisfied with all. Everyone is very friendly to us here from the parking guy to the bus boys...thank you all for some wonderful meals here....price point good and the only thing that could use a re-model is the Mens Restrooms small and only one sitting stall. You can if you want ask for the handicap key and use a closed other bathroom..but you have to ask to do this. Hear that the my have new owners hope all stays the same please...

    I would have given this place a 5 star rating had it not ben for the very rude waitress we had. The Food was excellent and the decor was adorable. My favorite was the french onion soup , delicious!! But like I said the server we had was rude,impatient and didn't even ask if we needed anything extra and when we did ask for water she acted like we where asking her to go pull it from the well for us or something. I would go back agin but next time if we get a rude waitress we will make it know to her supervisor that she was a bitch!!

    ah, to be in love, I remember those days. SSSSo, if you feel like you may have that weird feeling toward someone, also, you want to eat good food, but you cannot pay such an immense amount, and you want to feel like your in europe within weho, this is the place to be. French onion soup, good if you do not mind the smell, tortilla soup OMG....delicious, orange muffins, tuscan chicken sans the chicken add fish, you can change any plate as you wish. once a waiter gave me cheese cake with haaaaaawt fudge on the side, HEAVEN.

    Yes, I've only been here once, but I remember my visit fondly. :) A FREE parking lot (albeit a small one, but ANY free parking lot on Santa Monica is worth cheering about), a scrumptious tuna melt, generous portions, semi-enclosed patio seating and easygoing wait staff -- what's not to like? Weeellll, if we're on the subject, minus one star for being a sort of Mimi's-chain knockoff, but with higher prices. (Are they related? They have to be... Otherwise copyright infringement seriously ensues!!) Though FQ upgrades on the Mimi's theme by raising the level of quality, and well, by being supposedly French. Or, you know, Louisiana-French. Viva la France!

    Oh how I enjoy ignorance. Not my own, but when people can come on here and say this place is a rip off of Mimi's Cafe, or the other way around it's simply comical and a result of lack of knowledge. If you notice the menu's being similar its because, from what I was told by a waiter there I knew years ago (anyone remember Rocky?) The French Quarter is the original Mimi's, in a round about way. The story I remember was two siblings of the original owner went separate ways, one staying at the French Quarter, and one starting Mimi's. And if the menu bred success, why mess with it? They have about the best Reuben Sandwich around and even though you might not find the spinach salad on the latest revision of the menu, they were once pretty famous for it and if you ask, they will make it for you. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! Ok, so the place is a bit weathered, but to me its all character. You will find a great deal of regulars here because of the consistently good food and decent pricing.

    At 10pm on a Thursday night, my friend and I drove around aimlessly trying to find a restaurant/cafe that was still open & served "healthy" food (no pizza or fast food, thank you). Since I don't hang out in WeHo very often, I had NO idea where to go. But after fifteen minutes or so, we found FQR & hooray, it was still open and there was a space right in front. There was plenty of outdoor seating, which I guess during the day would be great for people watching. But since my tiny gf was cold, we opted to sit inside. The host and waiter were both very sweet. The decor is interesting. I'm not sure how to describe it. And honestly, I was too hungry to really pay attention. All I could think about was this, "Thank God we found a place to eat that isn't just greasy fast food." Even though I initially walked in thinking that, when I opened up the ginormous menu, I was drawn to their special - FRIED CHICKEN (really, I was hungry and didn't care if I ate fast food, my gf didn't want it and since she was buzzed, I figured I should just quietly oblige.) I was debating between the fried chicken, beef stew and pot roast. Our waiter, Richard, was honest enough to tell me no on the chicken and roast. For $16 (with tax & tip), I was served a very generous portion of beef stew with carrots, celery & green peas, tender chunks of beef and the tastiest mashed red potatoes. My gf ordered a vegetarian breakfast plate and she seemed satisfied with her meal, too. Not sure when I will be in the area again, but if I am and I'm looking for a place with good food, generous portions and reasonable prices, I will definitely keep this place in mind.

    Friends, I used to work at The French Quarter Restaurant years ago. If there was ever a restaurant of the diner ilk that is deserving of 5 stars it would be this one. Here's why: 1. Owners: The people who own this place are amongst the finest I've ever worked for. The Sims brothers (if I remember correctly). These people are honest, decent, kind to their staff and ethical. Now, if you've never worked in a restaurant, you may be asking yourself: "what do I care about the owners?" It's the trickle down effect. Incompetent, unethical owners tend to promote incompetent and abusive managers....abusive managers love to torture the waters, waitresses, busboys and kitchen staff who work under them. They tend to delight in making everyone's life a living hell. Now, as a customer this hits us in two ways: incompetent owners will cheerfully cut corners with the ingredients and cleanliness of the food that winds up on your plate. Even worse, tortured wait staff are much more likely to be short tempered with their customers....they are also much more likely to play evil tricks with your food, your drinks...as God is my witness...I have seen too much. I have seen almost everything. BIG PLUS: I never ever witnessed any of those shenanigans here. 2. Menu & Eats: Their menu is extensive. Ingredients are invariably fresh and of good quality. Folks, they keep the kitchen clean. You've got to love that. 3. Service: The French Quarter runs a tight ship. If you're unhappy with anything you can feel free to speak up. Their manager will listen and do something to make things better. 4. Atmosphere: I find it kind of fun. It's like being at the restaurant beside Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean. Colorful, plenty for kids to see (They even have a well maintained Koi pond) The whole place is kept clean and well maintained. This is a colorful upper end diner....this is not The Four Seasons. 5. Their hours. They open very early (I want to say 6:00 a.m.) and they stay open all day long, closing late. Not even one of the evil waitressing stories I inflict upon my family and friends came from this fine upscale diner. I still eat there regularly and always will. These guys deserve to prosper.

    Definitely one of my favorite breakfast places in LA. The atmosphere is unlike anything else...You seriously feel like you have entered another world outside of the city. Prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious.

    I love this place, its charming, decorated nice, love the gift shops. The food was great ! My Mom had sliders and I had a Chicken sandwich. The fries were great, the bread great and the tea kept comming. Just like the resturants back home in Texas. Now, the thing my mom noticed was some people got Muffins and some people did not. When we asked the waitress if we got a muffin like some of the tables around us she told us that NOT EVERYONE GETS THE MUFFINS. YOu have to order a salad. Actually we were going to order a muffin on the side but after the gruffness of the waitress decided that we did not need a MUFFIN anyway. So if you want a MUFFIN, get a Salad and dont ask for a MUFFIN or you may get a Muffin lecture. We left muffinless. But will go back again. Because the male waiters were the best.
