Can't speak for the teppanyaki-style dinner, but I did the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet several times back when I was interning in Vacaville. Pretty darn solid for a sushi buffet and VASTLY better than the garbage served at Fuji and Davis Sushi Buffet back near campus. I don't mean to sound excessively harsh, but eating cold, incompletely thawed raw fish is disgusting. Thankfully, you won't find any of that nonsense here. You also won't find hoards of people during lunch time crowding the sushi boat area or waiters rushing you along and providing generally crappy service.

Hmmm I always have a love/hate relationship with AYCE sushi. This place is pretty good and has really friendly and fun chefs. Love: lots of decent sushi for under 20 dollars. Hate: sushi-boat style--bleh. They also have regular tables that are around a grill table--benihana style. A really nice addition to an otherwise vanilla town.

Good sushi and Hibachi. The tables and grill are pretty big-- the chef we had was entertaining, but I'm not sure about the others. Actually a broad menu to choose from and prices aren't bad. Service is cool.

This restaurant has some beautiful decor complete with a pond full of koi fish in the lobby. We were seated at the hibachi eyeing the menu with our mouths drooling. I ordered the scallops and shrimp-this comes with soup, steamed rice and vegetables. The chef didn't put on too big of a show, but hey, freshly made food hot off the grill, err...hibachi...can't complain! The food was delicious, though I noticed the portions weren't as big as their dinner portions (this was our second visit). For the hibachi and two drinks for two people, it came out to $37, about right for hibachi prepared food. ~~~8/5/11~~~ Went in last night for sushi, which I hadn't tried yet. I had a choice of either the "happy hour" sushi bar or the "all you can eat" sushi bar. I chose the happy hour sushi bar as there is usually good deals to be had and I wasn't all that hungry. I ordered the Stephanie Roll, 6 pieces and huge enough to not fit into my mouth properly. That's okay, with sauce and sesame seeds dripping out of my mouth I was a happy camper! Damn good roll. I wanted to try one of their appetizers, but it seems that both the gyoza (pot sticker) and the potato croquettes have onions. Bleah, what a disappointment. So, I ordered some salmon nigiri instead. Having only water, my total was $13.95. Not bad, I was happy!

While it might be a bit pricey Hisui is my go to place for all you can eat sushi. I love being able to watch the sushi chefs make the rolls right in front of you. You can see how much pride and work they put in to create the dishes. My boyfriend and I became "regulars" (we go about once a month or every other month) and friendly tippers. Thus the sushi chefs learned our favorites and even before being seated our rolls are being handed to us. The sushi chefs are really friendly. If you are unsure what a certain food item is they are willing to inform you and even letting you try it out. If there isn't an item you want coming out on the boats then you can request for it from the sushi chefs. Over all best all you can eat sushi. I've never had any issues with them and I would recommend them.

This review is for the sushi-boat buffet. It was definitely worth the lunch time price [$15] considering I'm a sushi fanatic and can eat over 15 plates when I'm hungry. The sushi was alright, however, they do load up on the rice. The rice could be better. They also use the Yamasa brand soy-sauce, which I think is very salty; I really prefer Kikkoman. I stuck with majority of the nigiri sushi instead of rolls. You can request for sushi you like, which is pretty neat because they make it while you eat. The gyozas are really good while they come out fresh. They charge $1.00 per tea. One thing to remember is that sushi buffet does close at 3pm, so you might want to come early to get your money's worth.

I've eaten here a few times at the all you can eat sushi bar. I never eat at the table or Hibachi because its too expensive. The service is usually bad at the sushi bar. We get no serivce, I have to track down a waitress to order drinks and it has to be the right waitress, because if they aren't assigned to my area they won't help me. Yes seriously, a waiter said he can't help me because its not his area. I lived in Japan for 4 years so I guess I'm spoiled, but the fish here is not fresh and they have about 4-5 different types of fish, which is not a lot.

worst experience ever! don't get me wrong, i know asian places in general do not have the best service but the japanese lady with the lion king mufasa hair was just horrible and extremely rude. as for the food, it is definitely over priced. the grilled fish was extremely dry and the raw sushi fish smelled funny. DO NOT GO HERE! you're better off driving the extra 15 minutes to davis for sushi.

  • Kees E.

Rolls are pretty good but a real test for the freshness of the fish is the sashimi - and tonight it was pasty, mushy and bland. Clearly frozen at least once if not more. Don't do it. Stick to the rolls. Really pretty awful. All you can eat brunch is ok.

I've only gone to the all you can eat boat thing. It's pretty awesome to stuff your face with sushi for hourss. I love the fried banana/tampura for dessert. (: it's a great place for sushi.

Love their food (I'm not a sushi eater) & my husband loves their sushi! I only wish they would start making chicken teriyaki or beef teriyaki sushi! We had hibachi tonight over here for the first time and the food was pretty good. A little salty, but good. The show was a little quiet and not as interactive as Benihana's. =(. Was a little disappointed cause my kids love the show.

Recently visited Hisui Vacaville. Okay, where do I start my ranting? Well, for one, we had to wait to be seated. It was a good 10 to 15 minutes. Yes, we are after their All you can eat SUSHI for dinner. We were not there for anything else. So, after seeing people come and go (being seated), I was wondering what's taking them forever to find us a place to seat. After what feels like eternity, the lady came in and said that our table is ready. So I was like (FINALLY!). Lo and Behold, we were seated in the BAR (where the conveyor belt and sushi boats floating all over is). I'm like, what the &^%... there were tons of seating spaces or tables available and even the bar is not that full. By the way, we were six (4 adults and 2 kids). But it doesn't mean that we were hard to seat, since the place was basically not that full. Yes, the tepanyaki area (or whatever you call that area where there is a chef trapped inside a square table and cooking stuff for you) is kind of full, as there were like 3 groups (one of which was celebrating a birthday). Anyway, so we got there (seated) about past 8:00 and the bar is closing at 9:00. For a little while, the conveyor belt was full of food... then as we cruise along one tiny plate after the other, it started to get empty. The chef started asking us if we need anything. So, as I was used to dining in Fuji Davis, I asked for my fave Tempura Shrimp. Guess what he told me? It's not part of the all you can eat promo (and I was bummed big time). So, whatever is on the conveyor belt, that's the only food that we are getting (that was my impression after hearing him say that we have to pay for other stuff that is not listed on their menu). So, I looked at the menu posted on the bar, and saw that it was not like Fuji's. The other chef though handed us a platter of oysters (which I think was delish). My husband and I are used to ordering Dragon Rolls. So we had to place that order to the chef, after waiting like forever, he finally handed us two tiny plates of what they call as the Dragon roll. Again, I was frustrated. It's not like Fuji's. Back to the diminishing food on the conveyor belt, it was not even 8:30PM and the chef was cleaning his space and packing his stiff already. I'm like, what the??? And by then, more people were coming in. And the conveyor belt is totally filled with unwanted sushis. Oh, the drinks. I've never tasted anything like water soda (or a soda full of ice). Dammit! In fairness, the server was quick to refill our glasses, the only problem is, it's like you are drinking ICED WATER. EWW!!!.... So, after seeing us not eating anymore, the chef asked us if we wanted deep fried banana. We said yes. It looked good, but it tasted awful. The banana was too ripe and mushy, and they used a tempura batter to coat it. So, it totally freaked my taste buds out. I got full, not problem about that. But I wished I had more food to eat though. I wished it was a different experience though. I don't think I will eat there again (not even if I'm super craving for SUSHI). Oh the price, it's too EXPENSIVE it's $22 per pop and the soda is something like $1.50 to $2.00 (which is basically all ICE and WATER no SODA). Parking is good... the area is good... the venue is quite okay... service is okay... but overall "Hisui is not for me".

Food was good and very enjoyable until I saw the chef put a bucket from the floor to the sushi counter to unload the sushi plates, then cut a roll without cleaning the counter first. Ewwwww! That's the most unforgivable and forgettable thing that I ever experienced. I try not to think about it but will stay away from sushi for a very long time.

After a fun filled day in Napa Valley & Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Northern California, we were ready to take down some serious food. We decided to come to this place since I wanted some sushi & my husband wanted some steak. We got there during Happy Hour so all the special rolls were 50% off so we got the "Mike #7" & the "Justin roll". They both were delicious! I also ordered 2 oyster shooters which was $1.75 each & I took it both down. A glass of chardonnay since it was part of the Happy Hour menu. For my entree I got Beef Sukiyaki which was pretty good put I prefer Sakura in LA. It needed more soup in it. We got charged for rice that was supposed to be included w/my entree & I was supposed to get some miso soup & I didn't. The waiter was very friendly to us & especially to my 3 year old son but he just didn't get the order down right. Even though that happened, we're still coming back because the food was just that good.

We stopped here on our way back from Tahoe. I wanted Hibachi. We were 20 min early for hibachi so, we sat at the sushi bar fro an appetizer. It was happy hour, so half priced special sushi rolls. We ordered two rolls they were make quickly and they had the perfect amount of rice, and were delicious. Too many places have happy hour then give you rolls with way too much rice. We moved to the hibachi table and has a nice show and some good food, I highly recommend the yakisoba, the sauce on the noodles was yummy.

I can't begin to understand how people do not care for this place. I have eaten at so many sushi restaurants and all I can do is complain that it isn't Hisui. I moved to Fairfield recently and tried some sushi places here, disgusting. We will make the drive to Vacaville. You can't beat the taste or the staff! My favorite restaurant ever!

My first review was for their regular restaurant and their Happy Hour, which has to be the best deal in the area. This review is for the Sushi Boat, the all you can eat, and their great service here. The sushi chefs and waiters are great here. Attentive and always helpful in getting what you ask for. The quality of fish here is pretty good considering the price and the variety of what they offer is pleasing. Lunch is less than $15 and Dinner is $23-25, depending on day of the week, but I really think this place is a great deal for lunch. Much better than the horrible chinese buffets in the area and a great deal on time, driving time, and the cost of driving to Davis for Fuji's or Davis Sushi. I won't say they are perfect but for this area, there is a reason why they have regular customers and why they have stayed in business so long.

Good service good food good pricing. For 15 per person for all u can eat. You can't really go wrong. Just make sure u don't order the tea because it's one buck per tea. Not reasonable, aside from that it's a real hoot.

Food was ok, super overpriced though. The chef was the only highlight of are night, he was very entertaining. Fried rice was good also, other than those two nothing to exciting. Oh and did I mention way overpriced!! Unfortunately I won't be back to this business. .

Been coming here since the early 90's. If you are hungry for lots of Sushi, this is the place. If you are hungry for specialized Sushi, this is the place. If you are new to Sushi, this is the place. The all-you-can-eat is awesome, as well as Happy Hour. All roll 50% off. Very clean place, pleasant staff, and great Chefs.

I'm giving Hisui an overall 4 stars because of its incredible happy hour and cordial service. The food itself is 3.5 stars. Hisui is affordable during happy hour. I've gone here twice in a week before. I go to Hisui during the happy hour and sit at the bar. Once seated, the sushi chef will give you a complimentary edamame, which is super awesome! Hisui offers lots of creative rolls, but my favorite one is *Macy's roll* (salmon, tuna, avocado). I tried the *ramen* today, and the noodle was good, but I didn't like the broth that much. Well, this place is much much better than Little Madfish.

Went here for on a date and checked out the Hibachi grill. It was my first time doing the hibachi and it was awesome! The chef was fun and friendly and performed his job amazingly. The atmosphere was nice, clean and interesting. The food we ate was cooked PERFECTLY and was delicious. I am a picky person and have moderately high exceptions and this place was great. A little pricey but worth it I'd say.

While shopping at the Vacaville outlets, I always make it a point to have the sushi lunch buffet here. Their sushi items are made fresh in front of you, placed on the little boats that float around the island, where you can help yourself to as much as you can hold. And if you want something specifically made, you can ask the sushi chefs who are more than happy to make it for you. My favorite? Fried bananas.

  • Ellen D.

I love Hisui! I travel from Vallejo here frequently for the lunch buffet at the sushi bar. Around $13 for weekdays and $15 for weekends. I know dinner's buffet is a lot more, so I just stick with the lunch... but it's still awesome! My favorite is the Vacaville Special... Tempura topped with avocado and some yummy special sauce. Sometimes there's people who the boats get to before you, and they snatch everything that you want up. But luckily, you can ask the chefs for your very own roll, all for yourself :) They're super friendly and attentive to make sure you get what you want!

I had been here a dozen times alone and with fiends, and have had decent sushi, and good hibachi. Their drink prices are okay, and the "all you can eat" boat sushi is a gross concept in my mind. But the reason I have not returned is because the last time I asked for my sushi roll to be wrapped in cucumber I was told "we can't do that" Um, yes you can, you've done it in the past. No problem, you aren't willing to accommodate a paying customer, I will no longer be a customer. I haven't been back since, and now I go to Umi, where they always accommodate my request.

The sushi was average, nothing to rave about. Also, knowing that this is vacaville I really was not expecting great sushi. I saw the selection of nigiri and was excited that they have toro which is fatty tuna. This being our favorite i waited towards the end. So we order the toro and i notice the color is a little off but I ignore it. I put it in my mouth and right away i notice a spoiled taste and spit it right back out. My friend also noticed color was off but he was wise enough to give it a sniff and yuck. I gave it back to the sushi chef. But, this is not why i gave it 2 stars. I noticed on the check they charged us $1 each for tea. I know this is common now so not a big deal but they did not come back at all to refill the tea. Hello....this is a Japanese restaurant, give me my tea please! i got a refill though when i asked for it when the lady gave me my check. But it should be good practice to refill people's tea especially if you are charging for it. By the way, they did not take our plates that were piling up either. This means no one ever came to check on us nor paid attention to us. You see this restaurant as you drive 80West from Davis. I know each time now to just keep on driving. I can get spoiled sushi and no service from a gas station.

My favorite restaurant ever! I'm a sushi lover and all you can eat sushi? Even better. The rolls always taste fresh and you have the option of the rolls already made or you can request them to make a roll for you! Not pricey at all, especially if you go during the buffet lunch hours. They are so friendly and they always recognize me and my boyfriend when we come in, they also make us our favorite rolls, such a special touch and makes us feel like regulars! (Which we are, haha) The service is great, always friendly no matter when we come in. I always recommend hisui, and I hope everyone has a great experience there!

Wow...how lucky we were to go to Hisui....the AYCE Sushi Bar was a great choice. My husband, who is definitely an eater, started up right away and ordered things immediately, directly off the AYCE Sushi lunch menu. Whatever he asked for he got. The Sushi maker was delightful and the wait staff was extremely upbeat and cheerful. Our beverages were always filled immediately, without even asking and any extras we requested were brought out immediately...and with a smile. For $13.95 plus beverage cost, I can't think of a single reason not to want to go back. Fish was very fresh tasting and nicely prepared. The edaname was readily available and the seaweed salad very fresh and abundant. if you like Sushi, this Sushi Bar is definitely going to please you! Enjoy!

The food is mediocre, maybe slightly above par for the area but I'm miffed by the prices. It's "meh" quality for :D :D prices. Don't get me wrong, I'm more than willing to pay for great food, but this food is by no means "great". Drive a few blocks to Umi Sushi for much cheaper and higher quality sushi, sashimi, and other cooked dinners. At least at Umi the people working behind the counter are actually Japanese.

This is the place I come whenever I want to indulge myself with some of the best sushi I have tried. I usually sit in the sushi bar but I have also tried the habashi grill as well as the regular items from the menu such as the chicken teriyaki. The food in here is easily described as amazing!! The staff is really friendly all the time. The happy hour is great since you get 50% in all the special rolls that are the best as well as sake bombs for 2.50 and tokyo teas for 4 bucks.... I could eat their sushi everyday!!

  • Stephen D.

Wow, this place was awesome! Not only do they have happy hour and specials but they have 3 have different Japanese dining experiences all in one restaurant. There's -traditional sit down where you can order bento boxes and rice bowls -teppanyaki (where they cook in front of you on giant grills) -a sushi boat station with the chefs right in the middle! I went to the sushi boat area and man was I served well. The sushi chefs constantly ask you if you'd like something and when you're not sure what to get they'll invite you to try something new through suggestions based on what you had already ordered. They introduced me to raw salmon, seaweed salad, and made me like shrimp tempura again through their excellently prepared sushi. The service is not only personalized, but it is also exceptionally fast! This one server we had made a huge california roll with fish on top in literally 30 seconds. Pricewise it's not too spendy, just make sure you save room for all the great stuff you'll eat so you can enjoy everything to the fullest.

This place can be hit-or-miss, but its the only place like this in the area so we're kinda forced to go. On days like last night, a busy Saturday night, the food and service was spot on at the Teppanyaki grill. On other nights, mainly slower nights during the week, it's merely so-so. I have been able to make Happy Hour once or twice and that is certainly worth it. And I've never had to wait for a table, so that's always good. Though last night we didn't get our ice cream because they said their freezer was broken. See what I mean about hit-or-miss?

I went for the all you can eat sushi lunch special. Great price for the amount of food you can eat. They also give you a side of miso soup. The sushi was pretty good, can't wait to go again! :) Atmosphere was nice, it was quiet since we went during the weekday. They had the sushi plates on a boat conveyor system and added a nice touch to the atmosphere.

Came here one weekend night a while ago. The parking lot was packed and I thought we would have to wait long for a seat. There were larger parties waiting but it was just my mom and me and we were promptly seated. We were seated at a table near the sushi bar. I hadn't been here in years... they have high walls separating the hibachi area so you can't get the free show. Too bad. Looks like they have an all you can eat sushi option at the bar but I don't know how much that costs. The sushi rolls have all kinds of names of people and it is difficult to read through it all. No photos either. I don't remember which of the rolls i liked since it was so long ago. I do remember the rolls were on the pricier side tho like i think over $10 for the special rolls. I ordered the sake sampler and for some reason that too long to get. I asked our server at least 2 other times about it before it finally arrived. They give you like a shot of each flavor. All in all it was ok. Not anything fantastic. I wanna try the sushi bar next time.

Terrible. Nothing tastes fresh and there isn't much of a selection at all for buffet. Even the edamame looks dirty and not very good! Yo Sushi & Fuji sushi or bust from now on.

The sushi was okay, but not spectacular. The prices were a bit too high for a poor college student like myself. I do recommend their happy hour though. Four rolls for the price of about $15 isn't so bad. The waiter was really nice too. I guess that ups the review up to 3 stars.

I love Hisui, I love Hisui, I love Hisui...did I mention that I love Hisui? My wife says I have a problem since the sushi chef starts making my spicy tuna roll and spicy red snapper before I sit down at the boats. If she really thought it was a problem, then why did she get me a $200 gift card for Christmas, huh? The atmosphere is great, the servers are really nice and attentive, and the sushi boat feature is awesome. There have been very rare times when there hasn't been something delicious floating past that you could reach out and grab. And if you don't see something that you like, you can just ask the chefs and they will make what you want (as long as its on the AYCE menu, which is extensive) really quickly. The lunch price is very reasonable, and so is the dinner which has an expanded menu. I've done the hibachi a few times, and it didn't disappoint (except that time the chef flipped the shrimp into my hat, but that was cool). Happy hour is good; discounted selected yummy rolls. And they have a full bar. Hisui is my favorite restaurant, hands down. I love everything about it. Word of warning if you go; being that it is AYCE, you can do a lot of damage to your waistline if your not careful, its that yummy.

Review is for lunch sushi only: Super great value for the $$! They have the simple stuff going around on the boats, but chat up one of the chefs and they'll do ANYTHING to please you. Let them get creative and they'll deliver goodness! Remember to tip your server AND the chefs behind the bar. Can't wait to go back...we call it "Boats and Ho's"

The wife and I love this place. Service Is a little slow weird at times, but we are able to look past it most of the time. Or at times they will bring everything out at once, Kind of annoying. Generally we like to go in for happy hour which ends at 9pm sharp. I recommend the KEVINS ROLL. Also, during this happy hour all appetizers are $2.00 off. The hibachi is good, and the cooks are professional.

We miss the old owners... This USED to be my wife's favorite restaurant in Vacaville. The old owners were great and some of our favorite memories were here. NOW --- if there was a word more horrible than "SUCK ASS" then that would be what would sum this place up. The new owners are horrible. Their day manager sucks. The only saving grace was a chef on another table that made cooking look fun. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE EVER!!! Unless you like to pay for average food and shitty service.

The food was outstanding and the service too but they are unethical. After dinner I wanted to tip the cook, this is one of those places where you sit around the grill and the chef "performs". The waitress replied to me that we can add the cooks tip to my bill because at the end of the night they will split it with the cook. I tipped sufficiently but as I was leaving, a cook from another table approached me and was very bitter towards the restraunt, he said I was lied to, the waitress's keep all the tips. I was really irritated at this and my wife asked for our cook to come out and we tipped him personally. The waitress's don't do anything except seat you and bring your drinks, the cooks do all the work and entertain you the while time. They deserve the tips.

I came here around dinner time to get ice cream while I wait for my tires getting replace next door. As for my first impression, the greeter can't hardly speak English. It's so broken that all I heard is ping pong literally and my ears bled. I suggest management should take her to English class. Hopefully she didn't arrive here on the boat from mainland China or Japan. The food smell is great and the environment is Japanese style of course. I've noticed the sushi boat is keep rolling which is great. Hopefully they're not too expensive otherwise my wallet will be bombed just like the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. The Tempura ice cream is delicious. It's so good that I feel like there is a kamacazi attack in my mouth. It's awesome. The reason why I minus two star because the greeter lack information on the menu and couldn't speak English. They should fix that immediately. But I plan on returning again.

I set reservations for 8pm and when we got there No on was in the front desk. Took almost 15mins to checkin and than we waited almost 30mins still not seated, the front hostess ignored everyone who tried to check in. No customer service skills. I've made reservations and ate here many times, as you can tell from my checkins, This is the first time, it's happened. We ended up leaving and ate somewhere else.

Went back here and its now just okay. The chefs can cook but need to pay attention to which customer ordered their food. Food flavor is alright.

What a treat! I had family (a professionally trained chef and his wife who now own a specialty smokehouse/butcher shop) in for dinner, and we decided to splurge. We wanted to try the hibachi here, despite some recent poor reviews (that now seem like they were written by someone with a grudge). The ambiance was lovely; our server was friendly, informative and fast; and our hibachi chef was phenominal, very personable and enjoyed putting on a show! My guests were delighted by the experience as a whole...and the food! We ordered way too much, but everything was amazing: steamed clams in an beautiful broth; great potstickers; vegetable delight, calamari, and seared ahi hibachi, with soup, salad, and ice cream! This was a delightful experience! They also have an AMAZING all day happy hour (in sushi bar only?). I will be back regularly, this place is a treasure! My guests are people who set an impeccable table themselves when hosting a dinner, and even they were impressed!

I recently went with a couple of girls from work to indulge in the all you can eat sushi buffet. For lunch time it was fairly busy and I don't blame them with the only other all you can eat sushi charging 5 dollars more! The two waitresses there were not welcoming nor inviting which is why they are receiving three stars instead of 5 (customer service is important to me). But the sushi was delicious and they were quick to cook up my orders! I will be going here for the all you can eat sushi again!

Cheap Sushi. Dark atmosphere. Looks like they stopped trying a while ago. Needs to step up variety.

My family enjoys coming to this place for the sushi bar. However, getting seating is a hit or miss situation; the longest I've waited to be seated was close to 40 minutes and it was annoying to have to wait so long. The bigger your party, the longer you wait too. There were parties of 1 or 2 that arrived after my group that got seated before us, which was unfair. It's not worth coming if you have to wait that long and are ignored by the service. THUS, I recommend coming closer to the tail end of the lunch hours -- you'll get seated sooner since everybody else is finishing up. If you're NOT coming for the sushi bar, then there is plenty of seating and you won't have as long a wait time. At the sushi bar, the sushi chefs will place a variety of rolls and dishes. Some of my favorites are the salmon rolls, dragon rolls and crunchy rolls. You can request a sushi roll from the chefs (there's a menu of rolls to choose from at the bar). The sushi bar is all-u-can-eat for the price of $13.95 on the weekdays from 11am-2:30pm and $15.95 on the weekends from 12-3pm. I recommend this place if you know you can eat a lot of sushi (some of their rolls have a lot of rice) because their variety of sushi at the bar is great. Other things to note: -plenty of parking in the lot

Okay so we haven't come in awhile but we always make an effort when we are coming from or going to San Francisco. This time we were extremely excited because the timing was just right we had a great day at the beach and spent time in traffic just to bring our boys to sit at the habachi and enjoy the chef doing tricks. Once at the restaurant we were sat right away. I took my smallest to the bathroom to change his diaper and discovered that they did not offer a changing table. What?!?! Seriously?!? I thought to myself is this not a family friendly restaurant? Should we leave? When we would come it was just my husband and I. But as I made my way back to the table I noticed two big stacks of high chairs. Which confirmed that they are kid friendly? So I took him to the car to change him. Once I made it back to the table I was greeted by a very nice server. She was welcoming and we small talked about her two kids. I thought okay back to enjoying our visit at Hisui. We ordered my husband had the rib eye and I ordered my favorite the show gun( lobster/scallops/shrimp)the boys got the chicken. We both went for the fried rice and opted for the boys to have white rice. The Teppanjaki chef was one of the WROST we have ever had! Talk about disappointment. I had my phone and was clearly taking a video and still he did minimal tricks didn't make small talk or even try to make it fun for my oldest son (6). He just banged his knife with his spatula cooked our food. And then at the end he finally did a trick. The onion volcano if I'm not mistaken but what? That's like the meal starter trick not the end. I had shrimp and lobster normally there could be flipping of the tales. Maybe even the heart shaped fried rice making a heart beat. And the bouncing of the egg before creaking it. I was like really man REALLY? Do something!!! Whatever at least my food looked OK kind of a smaller portion for the same price. I started eating until I noticed I was missing my two sauce that comes with my meal. I asked him for them and he informed me that they no longer normally give the sauce anymore even though the bowls for the sauces are still sitting at the table... why? His answer they have new owners and have changed some of the cooking technics. I looked around and everyone at different tables had the sauce dish and was using them.... sooooo??? Okay okay maybe in being mean or he's new I thought to myself. Until he came back out to a larger table and was a completely different chef. He was friendly did tricks right away and even was talking about his self and about the guests. If my over hearing and memory is correct he said he's been at this restaurant since Dec and moved from Houston... WOW!! Was our $100 table not enough is that how it works at this restaurant now? Needless to say we were every DISAPPOINTED and FRUSTRATED. The name on my bill says Sydney if it's my server she was great! If it's the chef I'll be sure to ask not to be sat at his table ever again.

The worst service..We had a party of 26.. We got there as they turned on, the open sign (12n).. The manager (she)was Awful. We sat at the Hibachi Table..with other parties who where served and fed before us.!! ..We waited an 1 1/2 to get our drink order started. Which he left in the middle of taking our order of 4 beers and lots of sodas. So as we got ready to leave and After I fussed, magically our appetizers showed up. They claimed the cook wasn't there., A lie.. They where NEVER Apologetic..We spent close to $900.00 Not nice at all. I'm thinking it was a color thing...I'm just saying!!!!

Mediocre Japanese food conveniently located right off I-80. Prices for dinner can be a bit pricier, especially for teppanyaki style cooking, so if you wanna save a few bucks stop by for lunch where the prices are almost half the cost of dinner. Yesterday we stopped by for lunch with some relatives so we decided to sit by the hibachi grill for some entertainment with our meal. All in all, the chef definitely had some cool tricks up his sleeve and thankfully didn't drop any of the knives. My favorite would have to be the onion volcano, but don't lean in too close unless you want a steam facial! The pricing for the lunch teppanyaki menu varies between around $12-17/person depending on what you order (chicken & shrimp, shrimp & scallops, steak and shrimp, etc.). It also comes with miso soup, steamed rice, grilled veggies, and bean sprouts. The shrimp turned out to be pretty flavorful with just some lemon, soy, and garlic tossed on it, but my scallops were a bit overdone. The side of fried rice that we ordered was also on the saltier side. Overall the food was alright, nothing too special, and the star of the meal would probably be the knife tossing and fire tricks. Lastly, keep in mind there's an 18% gratuity added for parties of 6+.

This is a place I really enjoy on special occasions. I am aware not everyone here knows about my general love for hibachi dinners, but it is real, a truly extant thing that is occurring in the present. This is by no means a good Hibachi place, but it's the only one in town I am aware of. It's more expensive than I would like, and the service is kinda meh, but I would still cry if they closed down because it is literally the only supplier for the specific demand I have for tasty hibachi goodness. I always get the hibachi chicken with extra chicken, and fried rice. If someone loves me, they take me here on my birthday and talk me into getting the hot sake as well. True story.

Seriously don't know why people eat at this place anymore... The entrance to get in the parking lot sucks. The inside is dark and gloomy. The sushi during ayce is less than okay. The fish is not fresh... At all. If you sit at the sushi bar, you can see through the glass and you can tell some of that fish you just shouldn't eat. I also have a thing about sushi boats. If the food has been sitting there for at least a couple hours with no one grabbing it, it should be thrown away. It's raw fish that's sitting out! Someone here is just ASKING to give someone food poisoning. The server (if you can call her that) was so rude and got mad when I asked for more water even though my glass had been empty for 20 minutes and she had walked by several times. The place was also extremely empty so I don't understand what could have distracted her from pretty much her ONLY customers. Save yourself your money AND health. Go somewhere else.

AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL!! Came here to celebrate my mom's birthday. I called on Friday to make a 1p lunch reservation. I spoke with one of their employees to confirm their specials... I confirmed multiple times with the girl when I was on the phone with her. She said we could do the "dinner for 2"special during lunch but we would just need to pay the dinner price. She also said as long as we ordered 4 dinner meals then my mom would get a free birthday meal valued up to $34.95... all I have to do is make sure I tell our waitress when we get there. So I make the reservation and think all is good... so we get there earlier today for our 1p reservation. I speak with the hostess and reconfirm the info I received about the specials when I made the reservation... all is good... we get seated and I inform our waitress that we were going to do the dinner for 2... the waitress takes our drink orders and then tells me which meals apply for the special and that the "Dinner for 2" is $29.95... so we're sitting there... a party of 18 people... trying to decide what to order... then the waitress comes by and says that the manager said we can't do the special... so I ask to speak with the manager... the manager informs me that the "dinner for 2" is only between 4p and 6p so I inform her that I am aware of the hours, but was told by one of their employees that I could still do the special, just pay the higher price... the manager then asks me how many people in the party and I told her 18... she then says "... a party of 18 at $29.95 we won't make any money..."... I told her that not everyone was doing the special and some were ordering off the regular menu... then she says "... if you do the special then you can't get the free birthday meal"... so I try to explain to her again that that's not what I was told when I called to make the reservation... the manager was worried about not making money off us by offering the special... I guess she was right to worry because this party of 18 got up and walked out...we paid for our drinks but she could have totally made more money off of us... we took our party of 18 to Mad Fish down the street... you can guarantee I will NEVER go to Hisui again... sadly, this place used to be one of my favorite places when we first moved here 2 years ago...

I've been here a couple times on the way back from Nor-Cal road trips to the city area. It's really just okay, similar to many hibachi's or Japanese restaurants that anyone has gone to. We've just become recurrent customers because it's open late in comparison to other restaurants in the Vacaville area and usually we're hungry by the time we get here. They're also accommodating. So what if we come in 15 minutes before close, they'll still serve us and provide us great service. The most recent visit, we shared food between 5 people. We had Sushi& Sashimi combo, sakura sashimi combo, Negihama maki and salmon teriyaki. Overall, it was good but nothing that wowed us. We were hungry, we got our food and we ate. They're happy for business. We're happy cause we got our food.

'Had high hopes for this place but had my reservations due to the "hit & miss" reviews, ranging from great to mediocre... 'And the verdict: "Greatly mediocre." After our visit and from reading some of the other yelp*views, inconsistency seems to be their forté... 'Well, at least their consistent about something. (It's no accident.) Store Front - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… When we walked in, there was no one at the front desk. Another couple had just walked in behind us... 'After about 7 minutes, we were greeted by an older lady who had walked out from the front sushi bar area. ('Not the best way to start the evening but it happens... 'Moving onward!) Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… I had flown in for a few days from Orange County, getting things in order for my move back to the Bay Area... It had been a while since EL & I have been out to a nice dinner. Also, neither of us had been to Hisui so it was a perfect place for a night out... 'And that had a "Happy Hour" as well! Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… Our order: * Coke * Ribeye Steak: Okay; flavorful; tasty sauce; overly sinewy * Sake Bomb: Good Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Flavored Sake Sampler: 'Very good; good value; The apple won our vote Hisui Japanese Steak House has three main dining areas: "Teppan" Room - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… Front Sushi Bar/Dining Room - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… Revolving Sushi Bar (Back) - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Saba: Fail *The saba was not fresh; overly "fishy" smelling; relatively dry to what it should be Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Sake Sampler Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Rocky's Roll: Okay; basically a "dressed up" Spider Roll; "filler" Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Miso Soup & Salad: Good Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Ribeye Steak: Okay; flavorful; tasty sauce; overly sinewy Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Hamachi Kama/Chicken Katsu: Very good; tasty; flavorful; fair portions Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Uni: Good; fresh; huge portion Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… * Unagi Handroll: FAIL! The unagi hand roll finally made it to the table, cold... You can tell it was sitting for a while because the nori(seaweed), was damp, soggy & chewy. (I should've sent it back.) The nori is supposed to be crisp, crunchy & not like a "Wet-Nap.©" I ended up using it to wipe the table. (Mostly filler) Photo - yelp.com/biz_photos/hisu… Our waitress was good... Well, that is whenever she showed up. (Yeh, that was a let down.) Grand Total: $102 (w/tip) Overall, disappointing. The verdict: "M'eh..." For the $$, I had hoped for consistent quality and service, the best way to describe it, "Schizophrenic." If a restaurant has that "not-so-fresh" saba feeling, some basic advice DON'T serve it! After all mackerel is one of the more economic fishes on the market due to it's abundance... 'Don't sacrifice quality just to make a few extra bucks. The saba was dry, overly fishy smelling and "falling apart." (See photo) Yelp* advice: Drive another 15-20 min for a tried & true Japanese restaurant that is overall, more consistent. I may be back to try their AYCE Sushi but chances are slim. (Since this is their quality on their standard menu, I'm scared to see what's on the AYCE one.) Note: After all, this is Vacaville and Japanese restaurants aren't found on every other block like all the fast food spots around here... 'By default, (Bell rings), "We have a winner!" (i.e. - No competition) - Aloha! Food: 2+ (Old fish; cold unagi) Ambiance: 3 Service: 2+ (Inconsistent) Value:

This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant. Every time I try another place, I compare it to Hisui's. Their rolls are delicious! My favorite is the Jin's roll..... I come here for every special occasion. They're recently under new management, but I believe the sushi chefs are the same people. The customer service could use a little work. They don't honor a reservation, even if they say they will. Also, if they didn't have the sushi happy hour I probably wouldn't come here as often. And I do not recommend the all you can eat sushi boats unless you come on a fairly busy night so the rolls are fresh. Bottom line, my favorite sushi place.

BEST SUSHI EVER! All other places get compared to hisui for me. Always just sit at the bar for happy hour. 1/2 off specialty rolls is such a steal! It's not just the price tho because if it was expensive id still give it 5 starts. I mean if you've had better sushi please let make know! I love the Alan roll and the TNT roll is really good! The magic mushrooms are also another favorite! Usually who ever is making the sushi is really friendly and I appreciate that. Never tried the buffet or hibachi but happy hour is a must!

OMGoshness, I've never been treated with such rudeness before from Hisui employees. The older generation must have retired. All younger employees kept ignoring us after we were seated. We walked out after waiting 20 minutes. They lost a very valued, loyal customer of 14 years.

Horrible service and horrible hibachi cook. Ruined a birthday dinner. Cook was devoid of entertainment and looked totally bored. Waitress was missing in action the entire meal. We never go out without tipping but made an exception tonight. For 110.00 it was not even close to worth it. We will not be going back

This about the all you can eat sushi experience. The fish is not that good, most of it likely the lowest grade from the distributor or wholesaler. There is far too much rice in each piece and there is a little sign warning you your bill will go up if you don't eat all the rice! My idea of good sushi is super fresh fish which glistens with natural moisture or oils in fatty pieces. The rice should be balanced. If you like rolls drenched in sweet sauce then I suppose this place is good value. There is a second sushi bar in the restaurant which I think is regular menu. I haven't tried it but it is likely better than the all you can eat offering.

Come here on Sundays at lunch. That's the only time the sushi is fairly decent and fresh. I wouldn't suggest the unagi- it's always microwaved to the point where the rice falls apart and is steaming.

This place is a solid 3 star place. It isn't a bad sushi place, but isn't the greatest one either. They have an all you can eat M-F lunch sushi for 13.95 and it has a lot to choose from. The sushi guys seem to check on you more than the servers and everyone seems nicer than the host lady. Somehow the nigiri rice was better than the rice on the rolls. I think they came out of two separate cookers. I'm sure that other places may be better in some aspects but this place will sure fix a sushi hankering. Will probably come back when in town for dinner.

Very disappointed with the quality of service at this place. Our birthday celebration for a friend turned into a 4-hour fiasco. It started with us being seated an hour after our reservation. When we finally sat down our chef seemed very rushed and he forgot our appetizers. When we complained the manager agreed to give us a discount but did not follow through. It took over an hour to get the discount and pay the bill. I am not one to be critical or negative like this, but it was by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.

We made a reservation for 630, but when we showed up, There was a huge crowd of people who had made reservations earlier who had yet to be helped. They kept telling us that we would be seated shortly. We ended up being seated at around 745. Waited maybe another 30 min to get our food. The chef was really nice, but they forgot to give us our appetizer that was supposed to come with the meal we paid for! The rest of the food was delicious, but the lack of staff to help at the restaurant was frustrating. The few people that were there were too busy to help us out. They offered us 10% off for our wait and then said they would take away the cost of the appetizer. They screwed up the cost of what we owed so many times and we had to continue to ask them to fix things on our receipt. It was so ridiculous. We ended up leaving at 10 pm. Not a good experience.

Went to try sushi for the first time. Tried the all you can eat sushi boats to get a variety. Sushi tasted great. Everything was fresh and clean. They allowed sushi requests. The waitress was pleasant and attentive as well as the cook. Fun environment. I left there a sushi or Hisui fan!

We went there on Wednesday the 17th for my son's birthday. We have always enjoyed going here until that night. They have recently changed ownership and the workers are not happy. The cook complained about the new owners to us. The owner kept circling the table to see what was going on! I ordered a diet soda and it was completely flat and I asked that it be removed from the bill. The cook asked my son if he wanted a sake bomb for his birthday he tells them get 2 sake bombs and he drinks one with him. When we receive bill diet soda still on it and also 2 sake bombs. We questioned waitress about sake bombs on bill and she insisted we told cook to order. They took only diet soda off bill. I would not return to restaurant!

The food was good. We made a 6:30 reservation but didn't get seated till 7:45 then our shrimp appetizer was never given to us. The manager didn't care to compensation us for having to wait and not getting food that should have been included in our meal. The meal was completely rushed and it was a friends birthday. It ended up being a horrible experience with really bad costumer service. Benihana is the way to go!

I called in to make a reservation for that day, but they didn't even take my name down. We got seated right away, but our waitress took a while to take our order. The service was slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Our drinks eventually came in. We were seated in front of the grill. The cook was entertaining! I ordered Jin's Roll. It was delicious. I recommend their Green Tea ice cream! The overall service was okay. The food made up for it.

Let me start by saying that I've had a terrible experience at this location every single time I've gone there. Why do I continue to go u might ask? Well, unfortunately I feel they have the best sushi in town and I can't resist their happy hour along with $2.50 sake bombs. Went today and had a completely different experience. There was actually a hostess at the desk when we walked in, they actually came back several times, actually refilled our water, and omg..we actually received our appetizers before our entrées. (None of this ever happens) The experience was so great, I had to ask the waitress, Shannon,(who was awesome btw) if they were under new management...low and behold, they are. Hallelujah. I don't know how they survived all these years with such terrible service...the rude old Asian lady who never came back to check on you and had zero personality. I'm a happy camper and can now recommend this place to people without feeling bad about it. So glad they have an entirely new staff and seems like the management knows what they're doing.

Over the years, I have been to Japanese style Hibachi places multiple dozens of times (Benihana, etc.). I have been to Hisui probably around a dozen. Usually, you sit down at the table - wait for the hibachi chef to arrive. Chef arrives, starts flinging the knives, throwing a few pieces of food...confirms your order. You then sit and ooh and ahh a couple of times while he lights an onion on fire, etc. You eat, say thanks and your done. Hisui changed all that when they brought in DAVE. This hibachi chef is a master, second to none. In my opinion, he is the Chris Farley of all hibachi chefs (think Beverly Hills Ninja). We had 14 people taking up two tables, and DAVE had no issues dealing with all the table personalities. Like a Ninja, DAVE was able to cook all our food (excellently I must say) with true hibachi chef precision while providing the most entertaining atmosphere I have ever witnessed at a hibachi dinner (or possibly, at any dinner). He was able to light shit on fire at will...including his own hand. He told some of the best sometimes off-color jokes, and made constant comments throughout the cooking extravaganza. We were rolling in laughter the whole time. I could tell that he may have been viewed by some of his co-workers as a black sheep. You could almost see what some of the co-workers were thinking as they walk by a table DAVE was cooking at "Why Dave so loud when he cook?", "Why Dave tell so many funny joke?", etc. If you are not a person with a stick up your butt, and you have a sense of humor - I would strongly recommend when you go to Hisui for Hibachi dinner....call in and ask for DAVE by name. Order a few drinks, maybe imbibe before you sit down in your favorite intoxicant....but don't miss out on the DAVE cooking train experience!

Poorly Managed, rude hibachi chef, mediocre food. Came here for a surprise birthday party on May 3, 2014, with about 20 people in our party. The night started off fun, as the chef entertained the group. About a half hour into our dining experience came the first insult of the night. The chef blatantly insulted me in front of the whole group. His insult came out so quickly that myself and members in my party sat silently, with our mouths open, and in shock that I was on the receiving end of such utter disrespect. The mood of the group completely shifted. When I made a comment to the chef about his insult, he completely blew me off. At the end of the chef's performance, he turned his attention to one of my dining companions and threw out another insult in the form of a racial slur. He then swiftly left. As not to take away from the purpose of my visit (a surprise birthday for my friend), I maintained my composure throughout the meal. Afterwards, I asked a server to point me in the direction of the manager. Once I started explaining to the manager about the evening events, I instantly realized that I was wasting my breath. The manager interrupted me to explain how that particular employee has received multiple complaints, and she was reluctant to confront him because of what he might say to her. Additionally, I expressed my overall disappointment with the service and told her that I could not even enjoy my food after the foul remarks. She proceeded to take only a few dollars off my individual bill and charged $60 on my credit card. Unless I am experiencing a desire to be disrespected, treated without dignity, and completely dismissed, and disregarded by individuals who are in the customer service field, I won't return.

The food is beyond disgusting . Being from San Francisco and Peninsula, I am spoiled with many choices of quality Japanese food, but I don't even know what to call this. They have so many specials and deals, which explains why. They are desperate! The 1 star I gave was for the excellent service. It's not the server's fault the food was bad, so we left HER a great tip. The rolls are named after various people and numbers, and they have so many things going on in each roll, you don't even remember which roll is which. Just a warning to all who have had amazing to good to mediocre Japanese food, this is place is horrible.

When I first saw the location, (next to the highway and not in the best part of town) my expectations weren't too great. Service was incredible and resteraunt was spotless. Only gripe I have is the shrimp were kinda almost fake. Def not the best quality but the taste was still good.

Been here many times but totally forgot about the temp inside during warm months. Their A/C has been broken for years. Either that or the management is to cheap to turn it on. Who wants to eat sushi from in a hot building. I will say it looks like they have a completely new staff that was outstanding. Our waiter Kyle was fabulous. He saved this place from a 1 star rating by me. When it's hot out there are far better places in Vacaville.

Service was lacking but the food was really good. Try the seared albacore and Mike's #3 roll.

I've been here a couple of times. I like that they have teppanyaki but haven't tried it yet (maybe my next visit). The sushi buffet: I live in Davis where there's at least 4 all you can eat sushi buffets so I might be a bit hard on this place when it comes to the buffet. The lunch prices aren't bad and the sushi chef constantly made sure everyone was taken care of. The sushi was just ok. Some of the sushi had too much rice in my opinion. A quick note here: there are signs on the sushi bar that says they will charge extra if you do not finish the rice. Now dinner: I had dinner here with my kids a few weeks ago. It went well we all went home full, happy and satisfied. As much as I like the idea of all you can eat sushi, I liked the made to order rolls better. Service here was ok, but could be due to the fact it was Happy Hour and a bit busy. Price for dinner was decent.

We went with the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. I guess the prices for lunch and dinner are about a $10 difference per person. For dinner it's $23 per person. With that being said, we had a party of 6 plus 2 children and our bill came out to $230. 18% gratuity is automatically added for a party of 6 or more. As for the Sushi, it was pretty good, not great. They tend to load-up the rice and have a disclaimer that they will charge a fee if you don't eat all the rice. I believe they do this so you get full faster. I liked the Spicy Tuna roll, Hawaii roll, Maguro, & Soft Shell Crab roll. Would I eat here again? Yes, but only during lunch or happy hour for about $10 less. I would probably also upgrade it to 4 stars for lunch or happy hour. I just can't see spending $23 per person again. On a side note, the Teppanyaki side of the restaurant looked pretty good and people seemed the be enjoying the show.

Food from the teppanyaki was SALTY. My grandma ordered sake just to quench her thirst after consuming all that salt! Otherwise, the same type of food and tricks found at other teppanyaki restaurants. My filet mignon and scallops were well cooked, and their miso soup was delicious.

I have always loved this place but am VERY unhappy after my last visit. I ordered my usual, chicken & shrimp. While the chef was cleaning our grill, I noticed my chicken had a glaze on it. Asked him about it before I even touched it & he said it had teriyaki on it. Told him I did not order teriyaki chicken & he told me all the chicken is teriyaki. Told him I had dined there several times & have never had teriyaki on my chicken, nor do I like it. I then asked our server if all of their chicken is now teriyaki & she said no. I told her what happen and what the chef said and I did not get an apology nor did I get what I had ordered. I asked to speak with the manager. The manager agreed with the server that not all of their chicken is teriyaki and did apologize. That was all, APOLOGIZE! Even after I told her I was not going to eat it, they did not offer to make me my CORRECT order nor take anything off of the bill! The manager only offered to tell the owners what had happen. I did leave a note on my bill explaining why I was not leaving a tip. $30.00 is way too much money to pay for the worst Pina Colada I have ever tasted & something I did not even order!!!!!!!

After reading the reviews for this place, my boyfriend and I stopped by during our return from the Sac Ride-2-Bay event. It was located within walking distance from our hotel, the Best Western. We were severely disappointed with not only the service but the quality of "Japanese" food. We didn't go for sushi but for dinner entrees. Talk about disappointment. Not only were the portions overly big, the presentation was a joke. Japanese food is supposed to look appealing and tasteful. Our entrees were neither. They were just "bento" type dishes served on a single plate without divisions or any artistic quality and were definitely not dainty bited sized slices. The teriyaki salmon was overcooked and the sauce was barely palatable. The saba shioyaki wasn't a better option. The servers took forever to take our order, we waited about 15-20 minutes just for them to come back after seating us. They weren't short staffed that evening either. We were never checked on during our meal for refills or anything. In the end we had to flag down someone to give us the check. We have never had such a disappointing "Japanese" experience. We won't be back and we won't be recommending this "Japanese" restaurant to anyone in the future.

Decided to eat here with the girlfriend after going to Fenton's for the fist time and doing some shopping at the outlets. I've had quite a few AYCE sushi from various places in Southern California, which is where I'm from. Pricing is about $22 a person pre tax and tip, which is similar price to what I pay in Orange County. Here's the basic breakdown, The sushi was ok, not great and did not taste that fresh. Although there were really no sushi going around on the "boats", the sushi chef was there to make them for us right away because it was pretty empty that night. And the few sushi we did try from the little boat tasted pretty bad. The sushi chef was pretty nice, however, I did not appreciate him giving us 2 different "special rolls" right off the bat even though we didn't order them. I feel that they were trying to load us up on rice in the beginning so we wouldn't order so much sushi. One of the special rolls was a dragon roll and the tempura in it was really soft and unappealing. The other roll contained eel on top of a basic california roll, that too was not that great. We ended up not ordering that much because we were a bit turned off by the place. Overall, the all you can eat sushi option is no where close to what I'm used to in SoCal and the freshness of the fish is very suspect. I probably won't be coming back here next time I visit the area, at least not for their sushi anyways.

This is my LEAST favorite sushi place. Its not the food that bad, although is O-K but the service is terrible. I have been there several times either by myself or with a friend where the hostess is no where to be found, and our waitresses take FOREVER to greet us. I timed it the last time at 20 minutes after arriving before I was asked what I'd like to drink. I had to chase them down just to finalize payment. They do not deserve tips there.

We came with a large party for all you can eat sushi at lunch. We basically served ourselves off the boats, with the exception of maybe 2 people in our party who ordered bento boxes. Anything raw on the sushi boats had seen better days - definitely not the place to go if you have a sensitive stomach or the sight of graying tuna makes your stomach churn. We got the feeling that the all you can eat sushi was leftover fish they were just trying to get rid of. When we asked if we could order rolls, we were told we could only order off the approved list which had very few choices. When we asked if we could get the same items on the list, but made fresh, the waitress looked at us as if we were from another planet. "They on boat." Yeah. Okay. At the end of our meal we were charged at 18% gratuity for large party. I didn't realize we were supposed to tip at all for serving ourselves? Go for the hibachi show, but definitely stay away from the all you can eat almost expiring sushi.

I don't usually write bad reviews, but this place was so terrible I just had to! The Saki made me almost throw up! Then I was told I would still have to pay for it. Then my food I had ordered was chewy, cold and just plain gross. When I went to complain about it, the waitress called the manager and the manager goes... "what happen NOW?!?!?!" lol like wtf! Your going to serve your customer CRAP and expect them not to complain? Kind of stupid! I run a Deli and my number one priority is to keep customers happy... if they don't like it due to the quality of the food, that is purely the food provider's fault!... anyways bottom line is think twice about going here!

Went here and had the sushi all you can eat lunch for $13.95. Tea was extra. We were seated at an area where little boats carrying sushi and other dishes sailed in front of you. Very good, fresh seafood. Anything that you wanted but did not see can be ordered from the sushi chef. The fried banana was very good. Wasn't crowded, probably due to the prices or perhaps there's only so much sushi one can eat during lunchtime. Lots of parking spaces. Does not appear to be a pure japanese restaurant as the personnel all spoke mandarin. However, despite that, everything was very good and this is a good place for lunch, though maybe not for an every day visit.

This one was a favorite before i found out about Ichi Maki in fairfield. Me and a big group of friends would surround those little boats with sushi on it and devour till our hearts content. We'd always finish off with the fried banana.

Had mad craving for sushi and remembered this joint from awhile back. Kind of an odd sort of place where they have *Benihana* style eats, formal sushi dining, AND a sushi boat. I've done the Benhihana thing and this was ok and the sushi was ok too. Did not have as much sushi as Isobune in Berkeley (the OG of Sushi boats) and felt like this was just trying to make up for it. I dunno, I'm a sushi snob and maybe I shoulda just drove to Berkeley, but hey, I had to go to the outlets! A little on the pricey side for the sushi boat ($30 plus w/ soda and tip), but I accounted for the fact that I may eat $50 alone just on different sushi plates!

Good sushi, much better than any of the sushi places in Davis but not quite as good as a few in Fairfield/Suisun (I prefer Tasuke or Sushi King). The sushi is great, however I am not a fan of cream cheese in my sushi and also don't care much for baked rolls or fried stuff in my sushi roll. Turns out quite a few of their special rolls have cream cheese or fried shrimp in it and that makes it really disappointing because it leaves only few options as far as Special Rolls go (and those are the ones that are 50% off during Happy Hour). But then I could just stick to the regular (non-special) sushi rolls. The rolls without cream cheese or fried shrimp are pretty good though. Fresh, delicious and beautiful. I have never had anything other than sushi and I haven't tried the buffet. Also, it is pretty expensive here. They used to have an awesome happy hour with great prices from 2-9pm but now that this has been limited to a short time window the pricing is not adequate any more and I stopped going there. The location is convenient, just off the freeway so pretty easy to get to if you come from Davis or Fairfield or are just passing through. The service is alright. Sometimes great but sometimes not really- the staff is friendly but often gets things mixed up or takes forever to bring your drink. But a good choice if you live in Davis but can't stand the sushi in Davis. Update: I went back recently and they had their generous Happy Hour again, meaning most of the day/evening of every day is Happy Hour. That was not posted online, only in the store. The "Happy Hour" is necessary because otherwise their pricing would be too high even for sushi. However, I ordered three of their special rolls and one of them tasted somewhat off. I couldn't figure out what it was, the fish or the crab or the sauce on top. I have had that particular roll a few times before so I know it is not supposed to taste like that. I was seriously concerned that I would get sick that day but I didn't. I guess therefore it must not have been that bad but I can't say that I am tempted to go again.

My wife and I were craving for all you can eat sushi, my wife notice that one of the chefs went to the bathroom with globes and came out with globes basically he didn't wash his hands, then back to make sushi with the same globes, will not be eating here again.

Habachti tables are fun but the foods not that great for the price.....and yes the price is ALOT! Ive had it many times over the years some cooks are better then others when it comes to the table cooking... The menu food that they cook in the back is a little better and cheaper ....or mabye i think its better becasue its cheaper lol... The sushi is pricy unless you do the lunch speical all you can eat.... but umi suhsi is better and WAY more friendly....... all in all your not missing much if you skip this place.... On a side note the owner is a real mean and nasty lady you'l know its her becasue shes extremely friendly(fake) to her customers but when your not looking she really nasty(cruel) person.......Ive personally seen her berate and belittle grown women to point that they brokedown and cryed on the job right in front of me! They also treat there employess like dispossible cheap labor...I know this because i use to work there and not just once but once in high school and once years later when i was older and i also use to work at the bar they they use to own in vacaville im very familair with how they treat people and i cant eat there anymore just on principal alone.... I wont do it and i encourge you not to eather ...Its not cool to treat there employes the way they do when there just trying to scrape enough money togeather to survive...incase you didnt know people who wait tables are usually not rich and make just enough to pay bills...thatswhy there doing it not because we like bring people there food and being talked down to.......and yes all resturants have customers that talk down to the servers its all part of being a waiter....people are cruel and mean to watiers and if you cant hanlde it dont be a waiter that just how it is period.....better have a thick skin if you wanna wait tables.....

We went for lunch, and I was surprised to see a very "Benihana"-type restaurant layout. Unfortunately we were seated in a regular booth, rather than a hibachi table, and ordered from the regular menu. It was decent food, but not necessarily the best I've had. It is cheaper than Benihana, so if you're looking for that kind of experience, I would go here instead!

The new Hisui #2 has a much better atmosphere, no Chuckie Cheeses environment of idiots yelling "ah-h-h-h-h" in unison, no hibachi, perfect ! If I want to be entertained, I will go to a strip club and get a lap dance.

We walked in with a big group (10+ poeple) on a Friday night around 7:00pm and the place was about 50% full. We came in starving. The prices were very high, about $20 for a bento box! We told ourselves it was ok since we were so hungry. After about 5 minutes we were ready to order, but after trying to get the waitress to take our order for about 30-40 min. we stood up to walk out. At that moment a waitress came by to take our order. Although the waitress was nice, that was a fail for service. During our order, someone at our table ordered a beer. The beer never came. Forget trying to get their attention it just wasn't worth it for a beer. Another fail. The food was just so-so but the prices were pretty high. On top of that they charged us 18% for tip. Waited too long for food, didn't get everything we ordered, overpaid for it and paid too much for service. Maybe the buffet at the sushi bar is better, but cannot recommend this place.

I got an order Togo . I ordered salmon and shrimp tempura. The meal came with a salad and rice. When I got home I was shocked to find chicken instead of salmon and a salad with no dressing on it . I should have checked my order before I left... The food was not that great

Do NOT go here!!!! I want to start off by saying that I am originally from Arkansas, and the only Japanese food I have ever had has been at restaurants there (benihanas, shoguns, and Fujis). However, the quality I have had in Arkansas is a million times better than this place. My husband and I got entrees from the hibachi -- chicken and steak. I agree with the person's review who said the food was somewhat flavorless. It honestly tasted like food you would order from a cheap fast food Chinese restaurant. The sauces that come with the meal were very watered down and I had to ask for three refills to get any sort of taste on my food. The server was such a bore. Every hibachi grill I have been to the cooks are engaging and at least attempt some sort of performance. Not so here. Definitely don't go if you are seeking entertainment with your food. After being thoroughly disappointed by the food, we get the check. 85 dollars for two entrees and three beers. The prices are extremely ridiculous. They also charged us 8 dollars extra for getting fried rice with the entrees, even though the waitress asked "steamed or fried" and it did not note that on the menu that we could see. On top of that, they automatically charged us an 18% gratituity with our bill. Are you kidding me? There went any tip we had even thought about leaving. Needless to say, we will NOT be going back.

I loved this place! I had the Mike's Special and tempura roll and i tried my sister's Mike #21... it was so delicious! I even got my aunt to try some sushi for the very first time. [she liked it!] I went with my family, total of 9 people. Service was great. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We all managed to eat our entire meal with chopsticks, it was fun watching my family doing it for the first time. The atmosphere here is awesome. I'm definitely going back soon. Oh and the bill wasn't that huge. I was expecting alot more for a family of 9. Go try it!!!!

I went with a group of 18 people to witness the teppanyaki-style dinner. The environment is fun as you get to witness the chef creating volcanoes out of onions, chopping and dicing meat and veggies, and showing off tricks. Our chef tossed rice into our mouths. Unfortunately, the rice bounced off of my face and landed on the floor. Beware of the heat when you sit in front of the grill. I was sweating just sitting at the table. The food is mediocre, and prices were expensive. For dinner, the entree prices ranged from $18-$30! Every dinner entree comes with veggies and fried rice. I ordered a seafood mix of scallops, shrimp, and lobster tail. The scallops were delicious as they were not overcooked. The shrimp and lobster tail were disappointing as they were way overcooked. They were chewy and tough. In addition, the fried rice was heavily salted. The veggies were also oily. For dessert, I ordered the mango ice cream. Even though I was stuffed from dinner, it was a good way to end the evening. I tend to avoid the teppanyaki places since the food gets overcooked.

two fantastic words... HAPPY HOUR. 1/2 off all specailty rolls. $2.50 sake bombs. $4 mai tais, tokyo teas, long islands. and other scrumptous specials worth checking out. sat at the sushi bar when i went and the staff is super adorable. our sushi chef was very good about making sure he got our orders right. i can't even remember how many rolls we ordered but of particular significance that stood out to me: -tnt roll - it has jalepenos on top, need i say more? -toby roll - their salmon is super yum and the spicy crab is mm mm good -ben's roll - perfect for crunch lovers!!!!! -mike #21 - SUPER HUGE roll but it has everything in it there are so many choices and there wasn't anything that was particular gross or disgusting to me. the specials are good, the food is enjoyable and the atmosphere is perfect after work for a drink and some good eats. worth checking out - definitely make it out for happy hour!

New to the area was looking for a good all u can eat Sushi stumbled upon this place not the best not the worst. Yes Sushi comes around on boats you can grab what you want when you see it , problem is they don't pull the old food for hours it starts drying out you can actually see it. Don't ask for any hand rolls during the lunch hour or on soy paper they will charge an additional $1 each soy paper. Still looking for a good all you can eat Sushi bar.

Extremely disappointing... We took my mom here for her fist sushi experience after hearing all the great things Vacavillians had to say about it over the years. The rolls we ordered were falling apart even before we tried to pick them up! And they tasted only ok once we were able to eat them :(

Stopped for a bite on our way home from El Dorado Hills and if we didn't take a wrong turn we wouldn't have noticed that there was a Japanese Restaurant because its so random. I liked the fact that it had such a happening sushi boat bar, sushi bar, benihana style & regular sit down dining areas. The tempura was super crunchy yet not oily. The chicken katsu was also super crunchy yet not oily. The maguro sashimi melted in my mouth and the server was pretty fast & attentive. Yes the prices were a little more for what you get and you can definitely get better sushi & japanese food elsewhere in San Francisco, Palo Alto, etc. BUT and I am not knocking Vacaville, but when you think of Vacaville, you don't think to yourself, "THE place for THE best sushi" or "THE place for THE best Japanese food". So in hindsight, I actually liked this joint.

Found this place on yelp while driving home and placed an order for pickup based on reviews. Ordered nigiri, maki, and chicken teriyaki. Saba, maguro and unagi were fresh and tasty! The quality and quantity of food for the price were right. The decor of the restaurant was nice, for a casual friends and family dining experience. They have a sushi bar, teppanyaki, and a sushi boat bar. I'll eat the next time I'm in town.

I LOVE HISUI'S! I used to go there twice a week, and happy hour is the BEST TIME to go!! Mike's special's are usually good, but if you don't see something that you like, just tell the chef what it is that you're looking for and he'll make one for you on the spot. ^_^

This is a pretty good spot for all-you-can-eat sushi if you aren't picky about eating off of floating boats. I've seen kids grab trays, touch the roll, and put them back... sooooo go during lunch... during the school year. Going at lunch is a good idea because it will save you a grip of money too. Dinner is about twice as much, and only offers a few extra things (like hamachi), and depending on which sushi chef is working, you may not get too many of them, even if you ask. The waitresses are great about refilling water/sodas, and the sushi chefs are pretty good about taking requests. The all-you-can-eat bar has limited seating, so you may have to sit next to people you don't know, or you may even have to wait for a little until seating opens up. I recommend going at about 12:30 pm during the week for the best experience and prices. I think it's about $13 and they have over 20 rolls to choose from, and many other nigiri-type sushi with tuna, salmon, red snapper, egg, etc... Teriyaki chicken skewers, potstickers, and other items are also available upon request. Sashimi is not available during this time, and I think it's one of those places that charges extra if you eat the fish off of the nigiri and not the rice. Check this place out for the sushi bar, but be forewarned, it's hit or miss depending on which sushi chefs are working.

Er, this place was just so-so. What really sucked was their service. We came here on a Friday night and the place was only at 60% capacity. That should've been our first sign. First, they didn't realize that we were sharing our foods and didn't give us any extra plates so we had to use the ones that came with our rolls. Honestly, this was the first restaurant I've encountered that expected us to eat the rolls off the plates they were prepared in! Then, our server had mistakenly given us a wrong roll and didn't notice it til 5 minutes later. Then she came back and took away that roll, which I had used part of the plate (I didn't touch the roll yet), without saying anything besides "I gave you the wrong one". Yeah, an apology would have been nice, ya know. And she should've just let us have the roll as it had soy sauce on it already! Not like she could just give it to the right people with the sauce all over it!!!! The food was just ok. As my bf would say, it's nothing to write home about. But, the lychee sake was REALLY GOOD! Definitely can taste the lychee but it wasn't too strong that it overpowered the alcohol. At least they got something right. =) What we had: --Mike's Special Roll - pretty tasty and flavorful --Alan's Roll - just ok, too much cream cheese though --Combination Grilled Dish - had beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp

I love to come here and stuff my belly as full as I can! They have some really great sushi rolls...so many in fact that you will have a hard time trying to decide which ones to get. You can also do the "all you can eat" and just grab stuff as it goes by on the little boats...this is my favorite. The sushi chef in the all you can eat section is always happy to make something for you if you don't see it floating by. They also have happy hour specials 1/2 off sushi rolls and drink specials..gotta love that!

Hisui's happy hour is hard to beat. After hearing bad things about their boat "All you can eat", we were hesitant to try their sushi bar. To our pleasant suprise it was very good quality and "Half-Price" for all their special rolls. With 2 teenage boys that love sushi more than I, I'm always looking for good quality sushi for a discount.... This place fills the bill.

LOVE - LOVE - LOVE it there! This place is so yummy! Most every time we've been there (whether in a small group or large) we have had very decent service and both the sushi and habaci is great. Hisui Japanese Steakhouse and sushi is a place where one can take family (children included) and have a decent dinner at a reasonable price. One has a choice of a more exclusive sushi bar where one can order al la carte sushi, this is where sushi chefs can tend to your cravings on more of a 1 one 1 basis. There are the Hibachi grilles where the chefs sound more like an orchestra of kids using kettles and metal spatulas to make what resembles music. There are the sit down tables where one can order from a menu. Then there is the infamous all you can eat fleet, where the boats float the goods by as you take your desired sushi. I once had the experience of sitting down stream from a guy who decided he was going to start hogging the good sushi. I literally got up and sat down upstream and returned the favor. I'll never forget the look on his face when all that was left, were the spicy tuna rolls. It was fun to turn the tables. ;-) This is not the best sushi I have had, but the service here is what keeps me coming back. "Bay Sushi", in Fairfield has better sushi but their service has been lacking lately. I would recommend this place if you are in the Vacaville/Fairfield area and want a decent sushi night out. If you want the best of the best, go to Pink Godzilla in Capitola.

I came here after work to try out the happy hour I've heard so much about. Our party of 4 shared 6 rolls, 1 appetizer, 3 happy hour special drinks (long island, etc), 3 sake bombs and 4 oyster shooters and it was about $23 a person. Not bad for the amount of food and drinks we consumed!! They have a huge list of happy hour rolls that all sound the same but when they come out, they're all unique and surprisingly don't blend to taste the same. All the rolls were delicious and the mushroom appetizer was exceptionally yummy. Service was excellent and they continued to check on us during the 3 hours we stayed there having a good time and chatting. I'd definitely come back!

This is one of those places you see on Hamburger Hill and you wonder if it's an abandoned building (much like the small building next to Wendy's in Fairfield on N. Texas). I ended up coming here with my boyfriend and my parents. The food wasn't amazing, but I figured that the staff was too concerned with the remodel that was occurring so I decided to try it again a different time with my boyfriend and a girlfriend of mine. Second visit, wow, was horrible. The food was so gross and, I swear, I could taste the metal of whatever pot was used for the miso soup. The rest of the food was also inedible. With the two experiences in mind, I've decided to never go back.

Food is really good but their service is HORRIBLE!!! Super rude. We always come in for all you can eat sushi. There are two sushi chefs who are always kind the other two are extremely rude. When ordering they roll their eyes at my family and I. We've been coming here since my daughter was a year old (now 7) and she loves this place! But as the years have passed they've gotten new sushi chefs who don't know how to give out decent service. Pricing for their all you can eat sushi lunch special is pretty good but then again they roll their eyes and its pretty obvious when they start talking about you in their language. I seriously need to find another all you can eat sushi buffet that serves better service. If any one knows of a good spot please let us know and if you hate bad service don't bother coming here. Also, when my ex husband and I used to come here for the all you can it he got food poisoning TWICE! Definitely do not recommend.

Awww.. what's with the low ratings? That makes me =( I suppose it all depends on what you come here for; and by the looks of it, most of the complaints are towards their Teppanyaki. I came here for their all-you-can-eat sush iboat. The sushi may not have been THE best, but it was surely above mediocre (to say the least). The chefs and wait staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The ambiance was immaculate as well as calming. The cost of the all-you-can-eat sushi (includes complimentary miso soup) was inexpensive. On weekdays, the special is $11.95, and on the weekends, it is $13.95. Keep in mind, it isn't ONLY sushi, they also offer edamame, fried banana, pot stickers, and bbq chicken skewers. I came on a Sunday and spent around $17 for the special and an iced tea. I'm DAMN SURE I devoured well over $30 worth of sushi. I'm definitely coming back =)

Went to happy hour Wednesdays. 1/2 price off on special rolls for dinner. Had the salmon(Cooked)/crab, fancy roll with 2 different tobiko egg on top. Tried the Eel Roll and Maguro. All was very tasty.

I used to love the Hisui Restaurant. The last time I went I left feeling sick. I ordered the tempura veggies and it was so greasy I could actually pour the grease off of the plate. The sushi is ok, but not great. They used to be the best in town, but not any more. Ick!

my husband and i go here as often as we can. we always sit at the all you can eat. the chef is very polite and the waitress very friendly! always smiling and the food is fresh. the chef is very attentive and is willing to make sure he is there and see you in case you want something off the menu. they even give you a wet towel for your hands. the restaurant is very clean and the bathrooms are clean as well. the price is a little higher than some places, but i think its worth it. if you want fresh fish, and good service and clean restaurant!!!

I frequent this place at least once a week. Pretty decent sushi for such a odd location. Their Sushi bar is where it is happening. The grill is your typical Benny Hana style cook show and their all you can eat is horrific. Go during their happy hour for 1/2 off all their items with 1 dollar oyster shooters. The only reason Hisui doesn't get the fab five stars is because of their all you can eat. It's a bit over priced for sushi that looks like its been sitting their for hours. All the fresh fish is sitting up at the bar. Other then the all you can eat. I would not hesitate to suggest this place for someone who is looking for a pleasant dinner or lunch with a dash of fun.

All you can eat sushi for 14 dollars is a bargain. i eat more sushi in one sitting than most and have never been cut off. If anything, I am celebrated and encouraged to go for another roll, even when I am gonna bust. As far as the other food in the place... Hibachi is good, but I go hard on the sushi for cheaper price,

We've been wanting to try this place for awhile now and finally got a chance last Sunday. I'd have to say it was pretty good. A tad on the pricier side but it wasn't over the top. After being seated we noticed there were 4 different areas to sit in: an area where they cook in front of you, a sushi bar, another bar with sushi boats and regular tables. Everything looked interesting, food was yummy. We ordered Crab and Steak for like $20 as their special that night. I was grubbin on that crab... more so than the steak. I took half that slab home and devoured my crab. Loved me some crab!! MMMMM.. it had so much meat on it, it just put me in heaven. We also shared a caterpillar roll and then decided to try a mike #3 roll. Both were really good, but we liked the mike #3 roll as it was something new for our palettes. Will be heading back here again! =D ** Ooooh I didn't know they had all you can eat sushi so we'll have to check that out =)

Came here recently for the habachi grill lunch. The price was high but what you are really paying for is the entertainment of the whole meal. The atmosphere of the place is great and the wait staff has always been nice to me. Will occasionally come here for the happy hour sushi when switching off between the two Hisui's. Different rolls here from the other one and nothing wrong with any roll I have gotten here. Always recommend here for the habachi grill experience. It's something you have to try at least once.

Okay, I might not give this restaurant 5 stars if it were in San Francisco, but this is Vacaville, folks! We eat here frequently and enjoy the fabulous service, fresh ingredients and variety of food. The beef sukiyaki is killer. The hibachi-style food is fun (so long as they have enough chefs working and it doesn't take too long) and Lisa and her sister rock! Don't get the scallop saute. Otherwise everything we've ordered here has been pretty good!

Prices are high for what they serve but not if you come for lunch and sit at the sushi bar. Between 11 and I believe 1:30 or 2:00 the all you can eat is half what it usually is. Usually I avoid all you can eat sushi places like the plague but a couple friends raved about this place so I came along. And I was surprised. They are serving only the basics but they serve them well. I can't speak for the rest of their menu though as I've only ever eaten at the sushi bar. Drinks are brought promptly and almost as soon as you sit a bowl of miso soup will be brought to your seat. A warning though, we came during the middle of the day once and when the lunch crowd is not booming, the fish can sit on the rafts for awhile. So if you want the freshest fish, go when it is busiest. Also don't be afraid to talk to the chefs in the center as they will happily prepare you something if its not floating by. My main praise for this place though comes from just the sheer fun of eating fish off the boat. I've brought a couple of my pickier, less adventurous eating friends here and have been able to win them over. Are there better sushi places in the area, absolutely. But if you come during the lunch hour you can save some money and still get your fix, and enjoy the campy boats that bring you your fish.

I love the atmosphere and the service at the hibachi. Their shrimp is awesome and for some reason their miso soup is better than almost anywhere I've been. The sushi, however, is blah. Definitely won't order it again.

stopped here on our way back from tahoe for dinner. they have sushi bar, teppenyaki (benihana style) and a rotating sushi boat, 3 sections in this restaurant for you to choose. we had the benihana dinner and enjoyed most part of it. food is just ok, atmosphere was quite boring especially with the big vent blowing cold air down at us. had some nigiri, toro and saba, was just ok. everything is just ok. i guess i can settle to come here since its like the only good japanese restaurant around the area. i like the big slab of butter the chef throws into the fried rice and the cup of soy sauce too, i'm chinese and don't use either to make my fried rice. americanized fried rice "no good for you".

This place is like a pilgrimage for my friends and I here in the Napa Valley. If you want sushi you head over to Hisui or as we call it Sushi Boats. The sushi is fabulous and fresh and the staff is fast and friendly which is such a plus on so many levels. I just love eating at this place! The little boats are so cute and the food is so wonderful. I really have a hard time thinking of better more fresh sushi in this area. These guys are professional. You cant beat Hisui. Bring all your friends, they will bring theirs too! I have yet to enjoy the teppanyaki but I bet it is fabulous and I cant wait!

If you love sushi but don't want to have to work overtime to pay for it, try the Saturday or Sunday all-you-can-eat Lunch or Dinner for $20. Good sushi at a great price. If you like sushi but don't know what to order, don't worry. Sushi chefs prepare dozens of different pieces (and take requests) that continually circulate the table. Take what looks good.

I took my fiancee to this place for Valentine's Day and it was freakin' awesome. This Japanese Steak House offers an all you can eat sushi bar, cocktail lounge, and Teppanyaki-style cooking, similar to what Benihana's does. Since it was Valentine's Day, we made reservations to have our food cooked, Teppanyaki-style. I ordered the Chef's Special, which consisted of lobster tail, filet mignon, shrimp, calamari, and scallops. It included salad, fried rice, miso soup, and dessert. The Chef's Special was $45.50. My fiance ordered the lobster tail and scallops and it was $35. Our Teppanyaki chef was full of energy and charisma. He spoke little English, but still managed to pull of an excellent show. His culinary skills were insane, and he did a good job involving participation within the guests. The cost of food may be pricey, but you are paying for entertainment that is like no other. The service is great, the environment is lively, and most of all, the food was delicious. You will not be disappointed...trust me. Highly Recommended

I would give them 5 if they were cheaper, I'm a student so this place can break the bank if I go too often. The sushi boat all you can eat is great - love the hawaii make, the shrimp tempura with spicy tuna, crunchy roll and so on... Also they will make you FRESH stuff too if the stuff on the boats isnt to your liking (although it makes some of them cranky lol, not all though) And if you dont like raw fish, there are also cooked items if you want to sit at the boats with someone, like chicken terriaki or potstickers. Not everyone sitting at the boats eats off them, so not to worry if say your date wants one thing and you want another. The show style of cooking is also great, who doesnt love entertainment with their food? Nice staff, not lots of rice with the sushi.. pros go on and on..

I can only comment on the Sushi menu, and for me its great! Never had the hibachi or other menu items but for me the sushi keeps me coming back. The staff is good, sometimes I do have to ask for refills or have someone track down our server but they are always friendly. Lisa the owner, knows her regulars (which I am one) and stops by tables to make sure everyone is satisfied. The new Sushi bar area is great. The happy hour is a favorite. Mike ( the head sushi chef) is very nice and makes some great rolls. The special house rolls are creative and tasty. The Rays roll is one of my Favorites. Presentation always makes everything look so good! Last time I was there they still have the all you can eat boats but I have never tried it, I like to customize my rolls. All in all its a great place. I would give 5 stars if the service was great every time, but sometimes it can be a little lacking. So 4.5 would a good rating.

call me crazy..... tired, emotionally spent and hungry I stopped here on the way back from Nevada City, since I had passed by it for years and thought, well, since it has been here for years it can't be too bad, right? Wrong. Oh well. I needed protein and I needed it right then! One clue would have been NO ONE was at the sushi bar. Ruh Roh. Only a scattering of other folks at tables. Looked over the sushi boat area, nope, it all looked sad and old and at all you can eat for $25.00 forget it. So I settled myself down at the bar, thinking, well they are going to make it for me fresh. Yes, they did, but the fish was such a low quality I would have been better off going to Safeway and getting it there. Another clue, pink died ginger :( The hamachi was so so, as was the hokkigai ( clam ) I asked for the ika salad, and it came right out of a container from another store! Not even made there, and when I tasted it,,, dang nabbit, it is the SAME squid salad you CAN purchase at Safeway!!! I left, dissappointed, plus I had to wait for my check for 15 minutes! Will not be back.

I am not happy with this restaurant since the new owners took over. It used to be a very warm, welcoming place. Now the lady that "greets" and seats you is VERY unfriendly. She barely utters a word and acts like it's a chore as she does her job. We sat at the sushi boats like we always do. We are usually greeted by Jack (one of the sushi chefs) but the last few times we have been there he has not been there. I'm assuming he doesn't work there anymore? Jack made Hisui a great place. He always remembered our favorite rolls and made sure we had a good experience. The sushi chefs did not speak to us at all nor did they ask us if we wanted anything else that was not on the boats. My 5 year old son ate two and a half pieces of nigiri salmon and they charged us $8.95, the children's all you can eat price. When I asked if I could just pay for what he ate, they said it would be more than $8.95. What a joke! The restrooms were not clean and there was not any soap in the dispenser. This is very disappointing to me because Hisui was my favorite restaurant for many years. The sushi is still good, but the ownership and staff needs a lot of improvement. I suspect they are going to lose a lot of regulars who are used to a much higher level of customer service!

My Wife and I went in for dinner. We sat at the grill and from the moment we got there, we were rushed into ordering. The Chef rushed through the whole thing without performing any tricks on the grill. While cooking, he placed the chicken too close to the edge and when it popped, it splattered oil on my face. When I told the server, his response was that oh it happeneds. No apologies what so ever. The fried rice wasn't cooked properly just because the chef was rushing to take the bigger party. We felt really neglected. I asked to speak to the manager but there was no manager on duty. The hostess came by and said she was in charge. Lol really!!!! There excuse was that they were busy and not enough staff on shift. According to the hostess, no one wants to work under the new ownership. If it was any other restaurant they would've taken care of the bill but not this place. I received a call from the Manager who was not on shift and apologized but said she can't guarantee to take care of the bill. After all that happened, they refused to do anything for us. We wont be going back there again.

Completely O.K. I had the filet mignon hibachi style. The steak was cooked to correct temp but when it was being cooked the guy was shredding the already cut filet and the presentation of the meat went out the window. The price was a bit high; $37 for the Hibachi filet mignon and I was lucky if I got more than 5oz of actual meat. They do a good job filing you up with the veggies and rice... I don't have a problem paying those kind of prices when the food/show warrant it, but I really felt ripped off when I left there. I don't think I will be coming back.

I've been here 5-6 times. Each time I go there I hope the food will be better, but it's always lackluster. Positive notes: The staff is always friendly, and children will love the fun teppanyaki experience. Sushi boat is okay. The fish tastes like it's been frozen for a bit too long, but it's not enough to deter me from coming back. I'll probably go there again seeing that it's the only teppanyaki place in town.

This place is great! I highly recommend the Peter Roll. I come here like weekly, sometimes eating in and other times getting it to go. They are fast and the all you can eat is a really good deal. Pro Tip: order the hot tea, it has kind of a sesame flavor and goes perfect with the sushi.

Recent this place has gone an ownership change. The food here used to be great quality and tasty. We have gone here twice with the new owners and it is painfully obvious that they are cutting costs. Calling this place mediocre would be a complement. The fish is poor quality, badly cut and portions are small. The rice in the rolls are inconsistent. Some rice is mushy and some is crunchy and underdone. The staff is in attentive and unfriendly. They put extra chairs around the sushi bar so now it's cramped and too close for comfort. I am so disappointed we will don't be coming back here again! I've gotten better sushi at the grocery store.

The food was great as our Chef Dave knew what he was doing with the food. It was my grand daughters birthday and he made her day great. As someone said in another review go early so that you get the best without rushing the Chef who as to move on to others cooking stations. Thanks Dave

Visited this location last night to have dinner with friends. The food was amazing and the service was fine. I particularly enjoyed two things about my dinner last night; the California roll was to die for! It has to be the biggest I've ever had, like EVER. I'm picky with my sushi because I grew up eating it on a regular basis, however when I visit a location for the first time, I order whatever is "safe" and familiar so I can taste their take on it. Anyway, the California roll and spicy hotate was delicious. The second thing I enjoyed about my dinner last night had to be out Hibachi cook Dave. He's an awesome guy, holds a wonderful conversation and overall is on point with his presentation. He has a strong attitude and cooks up a mean storm. If ever you plan to eat here, you need to request him for Hibachi service! Not much more to add. I recommend this location to anyone looking to have a wonderful dinner and awesome conversation with Dave the hibachi cook lol.

Inconsistent rice. Way over priced for what you get. Also there is a strong dead fish smell when you walk in, due to an artificial coy pond that is not kept up properly. The food was mediocre at best. If I spend $20 on two rolls for lunch, I at least expect great taste. It just wasn't there. If I'd spent 10-12 bucks, this review would have been much better.

We walked in with a party of 7 (no reservations) and asked to be seated at the all-you-can-eat sushi bar. Only had a short wait before we were seated and brought miso soup and our drink order taken. I was very impressed with how often our server came by to refill our drinks and remove empty plates. My husband had no problems ordering from the regular menu, as he doesn't do seafood. He ordered the beef skewers, which were very tender and flavorful. I'm allergic to avocado, so the sushi chef kindly made special rolls for me without any avocado. I have to say, all the sushi was absolutely delicious! The only inconvenience being that the area where we were seated was apparently the entrance/exit for the sushi chef. So one or two of us had to get up and down a few times to let them crawl in and out under the bar. Also, the "sneeze guard" on the sushi bar was being held up by duct tape (not very professional/aesthetically pleasing). My only REAL complaint that keeps it from being a full 5-stars is the restroom situation. It was absolutely disgusting!!! My husband used it once and told me he wouldn't go back in. Now that's pretty bad, considering my husband is a former school custodian. He said it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years, the floor had a thick layer of filth and there was urine all over the floor near the urinals. He said it was worse than any Jr. high restroom he'd ever seen. And to think that our chefs/servers utilize that restroom and (hopefully) wash their hands there? Just gross. So, to wrap it up: The service was great, the food was great. Very attentive and flexible. Friendly and helpful staff. But they need to fix things that break, rather than just throw some duct tape on it and call it a day. And CLEAN THE RESTROOMS!!!

We don't go out to eat very often because we have a two year old. We decided to try to take her with us for dinner tonight. This restaurant was amazing. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, they were very accommodating to the fact that we had a little one. The chef was incredible and joked around with us and tour child. Instead of dinner being a stressful situation it was fun and our toddler actually enjoyed it, especially the ice cream dessert that came with the hibachi!! I would definitely recommend this to friends and I know we will for sure make this a frequent place for a nice night out.

Terrible service. The two "sushi chefs" at the all you can eat bar never once asked what we would like & we had to continuously get their attention to put an order in. With forty five minutes until closing, the "chef" started putting away all of the food. Our server never once even said hello or took a drink order & we had to flag down the busboy, who was able to serve tea. Yelp should enable us to give zero stars, which this place deserves for their dinner service.

Second worst sushi I have ever eaten. Tasted like refrigerator frost bitten leftovers. The steak house side is not bad so don't simply count them out entirely. Just stay away from the "fresh" fish.

Ate here twice, their "HISUI SPECIAL COMBINATION DINNER" was OK, but their $25 Deluxe Sashimi was sad, it didn't even include a bowl of rice and the slices were very thin and small. Their service was slow and inattentive, you kind of have to look for them. Japanese restaurants in the Bay Area are a lot better. Will not comeback here again.

Great lunch today at the AYCE sushi bar. Wonderful selection and everything was fresh and did NOT look as though it had been going around and around. The sushi chefs were great and asked if there was anything special we wanted and they kept checking on us. The waitress was quick and very very friendly. She made sure we always had full drinks and cleared off empty plates quickly. Overall a great 1st experience for myself, my husband and my 14 year old son...he especially loved it and put a pretty good hurtin' on the place :)

Party of 6, 3 adults and 3 kids. Bad showmanship. I thought maybe it was just our chef. Before we left he was at another table giving them a great show. The yummy sauce was horrible! The steak could have been seasoned more. The drink service was excellent though. Will not be a return customer.

My husband and I ate at the grill with one other couple. During the preparing of the meal, the chef knocked over a cup of tea on me. I grabbed my cellphone out of the way. But the cup of tea spilled on my sweater and my jeans. The chef said, "can I get you anything?", He grabbed a wet dirty towel and handed it to me. I ate my meal with 1/2 wet clothes. When our bill came, we told the waitress. She said, "oh I'm sorry". We paid our bill and were leaving and told the manager and the receptionist. Their response... "I will tell the chef". no compensation what so ever. And the meal was almost $100.00. Not even that good. Will never go back.

Unprofessional and rude. I booked for a party of 52 10 days in advance. I then called to confirm my reservation 5 days in advance and was told "it was not going to work." I called them THREE times and was told someone would call me back, that never happened. Finally, they said, we can make it work if we change your time from 7pm to 8pm. WHY TAKE RESERVATIONS FOR A PARTY if you are not going to honor them? Thank God I called or my group of 52 would have been in the parking lot trying to figure out what to do. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Walked out after 15 minutes o waiting. Asked for a table for 3, there were at least 6 tables open. She told us it would be a minute for her to clean off a table and then never came back. First and last time I will go here. Hisui 2 is better. Way better.

I've been going to Hisui for years and usually very happy, but I was very disappointed when I took my wife and kids there for Mothers Day lunch. We were sat at our hibachi table within 5 minutes, the place was not very busy. Within 10 minutes we were able to give our order. 10 minutes later we got our soup, soon after salad came. Then the frustration came into play. The 4 of us sat at our 7 seat table for 30 minutes after eating our soup and salad. After that 30 minutes another party of 3 was sat at our table. Right away I knew what was going on. My family of 4 was made to wait at our table for 30 minutes for another party 3 to come in so they could fill the table. I'm not mad at the nice family of 3, I'm disappointed that Hisui played this game with our time on Mothers Day. We needed to watch and wait for the family of 3 to eat their soup and salad, 30 minutes after we finished ours at the same table! Almost an hour after being sat at our table our lunch finally came. The food was good, our chef friendly and entertaining. I'm just disappointed that either the hostess or management made a conscious decision to make us wait and extraordinarily amount of time on a slow Sunday afternoon to be served, because they wanted to fill the table with 3 more people. Hisui, your disrespect for our time did not go unnoticed.

Haven't been here in awhile. Always had a good experience during previous visits. Walked right in and seated at hibachi but waited forever for drinks and to order. Table chef was great, very interactive with my 10 year old boys but again sat forever when he was done. Tipped him cash on the side and barely 15%for the missing waitress. Sadly we are gonna try to find a new place.

I like sushi a lot, so yes I have to try EVERY sushi place in town. Hisui 1 is pretty good, but a bit overpriced because they're one of the only places with a sushi bar (the ones with the boats) and the whole bbq right in front of you thing. (Service) I think that their service has gotten worse now, the manager must have changed or something, but the sushi chefs/the chefs who cooks at the bbq are always nice and good workers. (Food) Yes, their food is pretty good, but I've never eaten at their sushi bar, I always order sushi off their menu because that's just my preference. (Interior) I always hear that Hisui 2 is so much better and cleaner, but I've never eaten at the other Hisui...and Hisui 1 doesn't seem super gross when I go. Maybe given the fact I haven't gone there lately could have something to do with it...but like I mentioned, I think they changed the manager or owner?

This has to be my favorite place in Vacaville for a great happy hour, "Mai Tai's" are amazing especially when Sho Mei makes them. Sushi rolls are fantastic, I recommend the Golden Gate (not on the menu) for anyone looking for something not to fishy. Great people, fun atmosphere, and I will be back again and again!

This place was not what as good, the shrimps and steaks was drenched with sauce, which we have never had like this before. They did not serve enough veggie and rice. We had to ask for refills of water and other drinks.. I do not recommend this place for the price.

I'm dumb and decided to come back. This time they had barely anybody in the restaurant and the waiters were nowhere to be found. Since nobody was at the boats, the chef was super cool and made us whatever we wanted. The waiters never refilled the water. I had to ask the manager for the checks and she stood there and watched us put the money in the book thing. I don't think I'm ever coming back.

This was the first restaurant I have ever had to send my food back and preferred for it to be taken off the bill instead of remade. Very disappointing. Too long of a wait for a hibachi table, so we opted for a regular table which had immediate seating, but didn't realize that the two seating types had two separate menus. Therefore, I was unable to order the Steak & Shrimp for Two for $29.95. They also didn't have a steak & shrimp option on the regular seating menu. I then ordered the Shrimp Saute which cost $9, and the Mahi Mahi dinner which was $21. I got my Miso soup, but no salad ever came. The shrimp saute came with 7 small shrimp, some mushrooms and butter sauce. Bland. The Mahi Mahi came out cold and chewy. That's when I sent it back. The rest of my guests' dinners looked fine. Would prefer to go to Benihana.

We went here for the all you can eat sushi bar for my lunch yesterday and had an amazing experience! There were six of us and they were extremely accommodating as well as the food very tasty. They kept our drinks refilled, our plates cleared and we received any extras we would order very quickly. They even brought us plates for the cupcakes that we brought and a candle. They were just all so nice and had great attitudes! We tasted probably everything they put out and it was all very good. And honestly, the BEST gyoza I've ever tasted. My roommate agrees on that one too. The sushi itself was fantastic too. Can't wait to go back to this place! Thanks for making my birthday even that much better!

I can't really give this place more than 2 stars. It seems like this place should be better but it just falls short for me. I feel the menu is priced a little too high for what they offer. They can do without the decorations inside like the Christmas lights. I don't really know what it is about this place but again it just falls short for me.

I have zoomed past Hisui a thousand times and finally decided to drop in. My teenage boys love sushi and to reward them for going on a hike with Mom and Pop we treated them to their favorite food. Hisui is a pretty large restaurant and has three sections: a hibachi room, a regular dining room, and an all-you-can-eat sushi boat bar. The importance of this is that you cannot cross-order your food (ie if you are at the sushi bar you cannot order hibachi food and vice-versa. They will serve you dining-room food at the sushi bar but not menu-sushi (I think they are afraid you will sneak in some extra sushi from the sushi boats!) I am really NOT into consuming mass quantities anymore and so I was reluctant to try the all-you-can-eat sushi bar but I did want to sit with my sons and they ARE into pigging out (and can afford the calories). So anyway, we all got sushi from the boat-bar and it was pretty decent. They had some nice selections floating by and you are allowed to place special orders as well from a list. I really did not keep count of how much we ate but I am pretty sure we got our $22+ per person worth out of it especially since they had a good variety and the quality was above average. I would rank their sushi as being much better than places like Todai, but not as good as the better sushi bars in SF. I was disappointed that they charged for hot tea, but oh well. I give Hisui 3.5 stars. We will be back to try the Hibachi but I will probably pass on the sushi bar even if my boys go for it!

I have been here in the past and it was decent, tonight not so much. The Bens roll had no flavor tasted like just warm rice the Tommy and the Nancy rolls were ok but nothing that stood out. As for the waitress she wasn't good. First she said she couldn't break checks there was only 7 of us, she looked confused on the concept. Then after she took our order she really didn't come back until she gave our bills, with the tip figured in. She didn't let us know plus it was at 18%. Let's just say it wasn't like Sushi Mon in Roseville.

Ehhhhh... This place isn't the best, and it's not the worst, I can only rate it on the sushi specials they do, the friends and I have talked about going for the chef cooking at the table thing, but overall, the sushi is ehhh okay, seems like the fish is not super fresh, and when they give you the rolls, you get half of a roll... kind of odd...

Used to love this place. I went here last night for my birthday for the boats and my husband didn't finish his bbq chicken he ordered last. So the old chef guy kept shaking his head. Then kept talkin about kids that don't have food and we are just wasting it... Then he offered us MORE food. Ugh. That's why you got the tip you got man...

From the outside you would just drive right by this place. no signage to really tell you what it is. Sits right next to America's Tire and shares the driveway. Went in for dinner at 5:20 and there were not that many patrons. Clean and attentive staff lead us to our table. The menu is large and the extra laminated menus full of various specials is daunting. I had the Deluxe combo and a spider hand roll. both were delicious and fresh. My daughter had the Asian chicken salad. She loved it too but when finished there was at least 1/8 cup of dressing on the plate. The bar could stand to have a regular bartender. The long island iced teas where not on par. I had 2 and they were both very different from each other. Will I come back? Sure. there is lots to enjoy on this menu. Check the website to see the menu. No prices (moderate) posted. hisuisteak.com

Love eating here! Anytime I've eaten here it was great. Especially love the sushi boat carousel bar. It is one of a kind! My rating will improve as I go there more often. Haven't gone there recently so I don't know how this compares to recent revIews.

The first impression of this restaurant was not the best. The front of the house (I think she was the owner or manager of this place), didn't acknowledge at all although we have been there first. She instead greeted an older couple who came after us. When hubby stepped forward and told her that we made a reservation for the teppanyaki style dinner, she kept insisting that we should have the special instead at the dinner table. When we declined she helped us to get seated but had the nerve to bring the special menu again to our table and point out the special at the dinner table. I was so fed up at that point and told her sternly: "NO THANK YOU!!!" She looked back at me and just said: "Oh you know what you want huh?!" In my mind I was just thinking I want to leave this place. How unprofessional! How rude! This is not even authentic Japanese as they were all speaking Chinese and even playing Chinese music in the background (I guess it was because in celebration of lunar year??!!). I was just hoping that the service would be better. Our waitress was a little slow in the beginning to get our drinks and to take our orders but once we made our orders she was very pleasant and great in refilling our orders. I guess we ordered so much food for 3 adults and 1 child that the tip would be significant for such a small party. I guess with no competition close by they are very arrogant towards paying customers. Don't judge on how young or how dressed they are. Why should we dress up just to eat dinner? The interior is dated and dark and the floor is dirty. Need a make over soon!

Love this place! You can get some cheap rolls during their happy hour. My only complaint is their hostessing. When it gets busy, it seems they lose total control of seating and the line backs up. Other than that great sushi place!

So my husband and I were trying to think of something different than the usual places we always go to for dinner, we decided on hisui because we thought our 3 year old might enjoy watching our dinner being prepared for us at the hibachi bar. ive been to hisui a couple times before for the all you can eat sushi and it was pretty good so I figured give the hibachi a shot, we were sat along with another couple and served our drinks pretty quickly, our server was friendly enough. the first thing that disappointed me was that my drink was SOOOO weak like I literally couldn't taste any alcohol in it :( I told my server this and she said it did have a lot of alcohol in it that it was even stronger than the lady next to me who had the same thing (if mine was that weak I can only imagine how bad hers must have been) the lady next to me agreed with me once the server walked away. the server recommended a mai tai which according to her was much better and stronger, when it came it was only slightly better but whatever I should have just ordered a beer my husband ordered the steak and shrimp and I ordered the seafood combo, we planned on sharing with our son because he is a very light eater and also because the price for the kids meals was 11-13 dollars (that's way expensive in my experience for a kids meal) my second gripe with the food and prices is that when you order you are asked if you want fried rice with that for an additional 3.95, WHAT?!? id been assuming that CAME WITH THE DANG MEAL!!! for a 30 dollar seafood meal and 25 dollar steak/ shrimp meal you would assume that the fried rice which is half of the expiereince at the hibachi bar is included but NO....well we were already dedicated so we both agreed to the fried rice. the chef was friendly enough and gave us a little show while preparing our meal which was the whole reason we came so thank god for that, the food was ok, not spectacular, not horrible in my opinion, my husband thought the whole experience was a total waste, in the end our bill was 88 dollars, (two hibachi bar dinners, two cocktails and a coke) out the door I spent 105 including tip, I still tipped 20 percent because I happen to be a server and completely understand that all my gripes were not the fault of my server...we will not be back for the hibachi ever again tho, there is a slim chance we might come try the sushi bar again but probably not

This place has awesome happy hour. I went here for happy hour to take advantage of their 50% off sushi rolls. When I got there they gave us a separate menu for happy hour and there was a long list of rolls. I ended up sharing 4 rolls with my boyfriend. The first two were pretty good and the last two werent too good, everything depends on what you order. What I liked about this place is that we sat at the bar so we could see the sushi chef make everything for us and everything tasted fresh. I thought it was funny that the sushi chef looked like the sushi chef at nobu sushi in Davis. All in all I would come back again if I am at the outlets shopping.

Pretty mediocre Japanese food. Even at happy hour half price it was $50 for three adults and a three year old. My sushi was fishy. Wife ordered chicken katsu and they served her pork. Questioned her sending it back.

I was a horrible customer and I apologize profusely. There were five of us and we couldn't decide where to eat, so when we finally said, let's just go into this place, it was a huge relief. Unfortunately, when we walked in, the host immediately asked us, do you want all you can eat sushi, do you want ala carte, do you want Benihana style dinner, hibachi ?? teppanyaki?? Do you want blah blah blah. once again, the whole group is perplexed and more discussion ensues. Oh no, MORE choices that five people have to agree to, ugh. I see in a distance they have sushi on boats, which looks perfect ! We can just grab our own boat and each person eats what they want,. We sit down. The waitress tells us, oh no, you can't just grab a boat or two. It's all you can eat ONLY! After considerable whining on my part about asking why I can't be charged by the plate as other sushi restaurants do, I finally ordered an Alaska roll (salmon) ala carte And it was delicious. The son loved his Hawaii roll (tuna). Everyone left happy. Our waitress was super sweet, thru the whole ordeal of dealing with me, too.......

Just got home from a business lunch here with a client. We did the all-you-can-eat sushi just like I had done last time with my boyfriend. This time around though, things were slightly better. The biggest improvement was that our server was very attentive this time. He made several visits to our section of the all-you-can-eat table and made sure our beverages didn't get too low. He also brought out our miso soups and beverages right after we sat down. Great service this time! Another big improvement was that they were making things that many people like and therefore, sushi wasn't hanging around too long. Unfortunately, that meant we were waiting and waiting and waiting for rolls to make their way around the table. We were sat essentially at the end of the line and were obscured from view by the chefs' equipment and ingredients. This made it nearly impossible to make eye contact with the chef to place requests. It also meant that by the time boats with sushi made their way to us they were empty. My client pointed this out to our server and asked if we could be moved to the other side of the table. Around this time a woman who I believe to be the owner or manager came over and started barking things in Japanese at the chef and our server. She told us that it didn't matter if we moved because things would be the same over there. She also told us if we wanted anything that we had to yell at the chefs to get it. Our server encouraged us to yell at the chefs too. Meanwhile, people on the other side of the table are feasting on sushi rolls while we're watching the same trays of soybeans float by. Eventually, things got kicked into high gear and the chefs started pouring out gyoza and rolls fast enough that everyone was finally getting fed. The rolls were about the same for me this time though, just okay but with less rice. Some of them were actually room temperature which always puts me off, especially if I just watched the guy make it. They have bins of raw fish that appear to be left out for use as needed. Hmmm, raw fish...with no visible means of refrigeration...sounds like a winner! Just like I said in my last review, I don't see myself returning here. The search for more good sushi continues.

This place is great! The food was wonderful, the service was great! The employees are so warm and friendly. We ate at the hibachi table and what a show! Flaming onion volcanos. A must see! I see some of the Poor ratings are for the Sushi. I don't eat sushi, so I would recommend the cooked food. *smile*

We walked in today for lunch and had an amazing time. It was my sons first time seeing hibachi and he loved it. Our chef was excellent and was great with our little one. The food was good, Portions were reasonable and so were the prices. Our waitress was great as well. We will definitely be back.

This is my second time eating here. The place has a nice atmosphere and decent service. Our teppantaki chef was friendly and entertaining. But the food was mediocre at best. The fried rice was made with too few veggies that looked like they were sitting out all day. He seemed to add garlic butter to everything he cooked. My biggest issue was the sushi rolls. We ordered 2 of them for our group of 4 and the rice was the consistency of what you find buying sushi rolls at a grocery store. They were pasty and mushed up. At $7-$15 a roll what are these people thinking?

    (2)
  • Ben S.

Appetizers are over priced for the amount. You will not get close to full from them. The rice is not included in meals. So when they ask you if you want fried or steamed rice don't assume it's included. Good does taste good but not worth the price

This is the worst experience! We had hibachi. The chef was very messy who messed up the order. My husband and I ordered steak and shrimp. My husband had three pieces of shrimp, four zucchini, palm full of fried rice. We spent 74.00 worth of meals and it was not worth it!!! The couple and friend who sat with us took home left overs. They shared one meal! Wtf?! We told the chef three times on our order. He could care less. It's not about the money we spent but the principle.

A near-empty parking lot, a faded restaurant sign, and a hostess in need of an extreme make-under don't add up to the warmest welcome. The owners weren't too creative when naming the special rolls--Jack, Mike, Nancy, etc. (who are these people?!) We ordered the Mike #21 (soft shell crab, spicy tuna), which was pretty damn good. The Spicy Tuna Roll wasn't bad either--although, it's a difficult one to error on. The Sesame Chicken and Beef Teriyaki wasn't bad. I preferred the chicken over the beef, but I guess it's hard to beat anything fried.

I really like this this place. It has a nice atmosphere and have always had good service and great food. One thing I did not care for was the generic names for their specialty rolls. The are named after people, Tom, Kevin etc. Just glad they do not have a guy named "Harry"! Who would want to eat a "HARRY ROLL??!! Their specials are good 1/2 all rolls and they are a good balance and not all rice. The all you can eat is pretty good and like that they serve pot stickers and fried banana s well! Most of the rolls are made with a crab mixture but I hold out for some of the better ones. They will also make you certain rolls to order although I have been satisfied with the selection thus far. Hisui has changed hands. So far I'm not impressed with the change. I'm taking away one star due to my last two visits this week. Please see my other comment for details.

Always fresh and delicious. Great friendly service and family atmosphere. When in the area I always stop here. Amazing selection of named rolls plus a all you can eat side for buffet style if that's your thing. Can't go wrong with this fine establishment.

The food was pretty good but the resturant prices were very high plus no happy hour a habachi table. The score I want to give is a 2 1/2. Service was ok could've been better but all and all ok as resturants go not so much when compared to other Japanese Steakhouses.

  • Maya-Luisa G.

Typical habachi style restaurant, but the nigiri here is actually much better than anywhere in this area, not in northern california but in this area for sure. Definitely give the amaebi a try. They give you two pieces of nigiri as well as fry up the shrimp heads in a tempura better which is quite tasty.

I have had consistently positive experiances at Hisui. On my first visit I had hibachi. The chef was attentive and very creative. After attending many different Japanese Steak Houses across the country with many proformances I can say it was one of the best I had seen. On my second visit I had the all you can eat Sushi Bar! It's excellent and adorable. All the sushi is delivered to you by tiny boats. It's quite the entertaining evening.

Very impressed! :-) Had dinner here for the first time last weekend and loved it! Can't believe I ignored this place. The place looks old and location seems oddly placed that's why. We had a good dining experience at the Hibachi grill. Had steak and chicken, very yummy! I normally don't like Hibachi grills since mostly for show...but food was terrific! The guy who sat next to us ordered sea bass and oh my! Looked and smelled amazing! Will order that next time! We love coming to other location Hisui 2 for rolls, but we'll try the sushi boat bar here on our next visit.

I go here for their sushi buffet. I only go because it's near by. Sushi is not bad but there are definitely tastier sushi buffets in Davis. Service hasn't always been great but the place is fine. If you're there try their deep fried California roll. That's pretty good.

I had to erase my other terrible review to make room for this one. I was COMPLETELY HARASSED by someone in management at this Hisui! He approached me multiple times after I told him I am a lesbian. This guy said "I can do everything lesbians can do" as he flicked his tongue at me. After leaving completely pissed off, after more harassment, I tried calling their corporate which DOESNT EXIST! So I called my manager (because i work in the food industry) and he was completely appalled. He went in there for me and when he told them I was his sister and was harassed by one of their male managers, the woman claimed they dont have a male manager. When he asked if she was the manager, she replied with "I'm in charge." So he asked for the OWNERS number and she replied saying the same thing so he left pissed! Get ready, Hisui! FUCK your service and everything about your foul-ran shit hole restaurant. I am fighting this and have contacted the Better Business Bureau! It's terrible service EVERY TIME I go into Hisui but never IN MY LIFE have I been so sexually harassed!! Even worse that it was someone who is in their "professional" environment.

just got back from a birthday dinner here and i was so pleasantly surprised!! We had a reservation (which always helps!) for 6 and got seated early while we waited on our 6th member. Michelle helped us with drinks and explaining the menu. She was very cool and awesome and outgoing. She gave excellent service and filled our water glasses so many times that I couldn't thank her enough. Then came chef Dave. I wrongly judged based on appearance that this guy wouldn't know how to really cook or put on a great show but I was so wrong. He was really funny and great at conversation. He seemed to be at ease while maintaining control of our table and feeding our laughing mouths. I hate how much I'm riding his nutsack right now but the dude is legit. He had some mad knife skills too! I feel bad for anyone that goes here and doesn't get Michelle and Dave to help them because if there were more of them, this place would be non-stop poppin! They were both so friendly and funny and I just can't get over how great they were. I'm a sucker for some good service and friendly faces and they did not disappoint. Thanks again! canyon arrow haha

My family has a routine. If we are passing Vacaville on the way home, we have to stop here for the all you can eat sushi. We were a little too early this time, but they were ok with starting the sushi boats a half hour early just for us. Should I worry that they kinda know us, even though we pass through only about 2-3 times a year. I guess we eat a pretty good amount every time we're there. Even though they have the sushi boats at the all-you-can-eat section, the sushi chefs are always asking if you need something and how many do you want. If you aren't into quantity and like quality, their regular sushi bar has a 50% off happy hour on all their rolls. I guess either way you can't go wrong here. Don't want sushi? What about teppanyaki? Or you can go for just regular table service. Easily one of my favorite restraunts off of 80.

We have been to Hisui 3 times now and I always enjoy it. This last time we had Dave as our cook for habatchi and he was great! The earlier you go in the day the better, around 6-7 it will get really busy. I had the steak and shrimp, my husband had the filet mignon and scallops along with a sushi roll. The only thing that wasn't fun was the fact I wasn't allowed to have the "birthday special" because it was the next day. Other than that we enjoyed our meal!

I was not impressed. This place is not up to par with other hibachi restaurants. It was old, dirty - and overpriced since the food quality was not that great. Next time, I'll drive out to my favorite hibachi, Kobe in Pleasant Hill or to Benihana in Concord.

I had lunch here. Food was OK. The service was awful. The Sushi chef was nice and fun to talk to at the bar. The problem was that they entice people in with half off rolls during happy hour specials time, but are unable to handle the demand with under staffed wait staff.

What an absolute joke of a restaurant. Staff was so rude, clueless and did I say rude?? Did I mention how rude they were?? Will never return or recommend to anyone. I don't think I got my point across....RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went last Friday night and sat at the sushi bar. Was greeted rather quick and was brought our drinks. After that service was bad. Again, another restaurant who does not staff well during peak times. Waited for awhile for the Sushi guy to take our order. It would be better if the sushi was already listed on a piece of paper, we mark what we want and put it up on the bar, that way he doesn't have to stop and take down orders, he could just grab the tickets. Also, it would be easier and probably more profitable since it would be easy to make additional orders instead of waiting for the guy to stop what he is doing to talk to us. Anyway, went awhile without refills, beverages served in really small glass and I drink too fast :) The sushi is overpriced if you are not there during happy hour. The sushi we ordered was good. We probably will not be back. Still looking for great sushi in the Vacaville area or maybe some good service too.

This is the first I ate here and I'm pretty sure I won't be eating here anytime soon. It's not that the "all you can eat sushi bar" was bad, because it wasn't. The sushi was better than average, but I've had better. Also the sushi had more rice than i'm used to! The sushi chef was great! He was more than happy to make what we ordered. My favorites were the Hawaii Roll and Masago Nigiri... Aside from the "better than average, more rice than I'm used to eating" sushi, the main reason I won't be eating here any time soon is the price! $25.00 per person for "all you can eat" is a little too much for sushi that didn't "blow my mind".

If your in Vacaville there is no better place to get Sushi or Japanese food other than Hisui Japanese Steakhouse. This place has established itself as one of the best places to eat in town and if you've rolled passed 80 I'm sure you've seen they they are conveniently located off the freeway and near the outlets. I've been here for lunch, dinner, AYCE and the hibachi grill. The food is always fresh and taste good. I usually opt for teriyaki steak, prawns, tempura, sushi or fried oysters. During this past visit I had the teriyaki steak, Justin's roll and fried tofu. As always the soup, salad and steak were good. I will definitely order the Justin's roll again- i liked it a lot. The fried tofu was okay, it was different, I've had better. The hibachi grill is entertaining and there are great options but sometimes it seems a bit expensive and since everything is cooked the same way on the same grill everything starts to taste the same- rice, veggies, shrimp and meat. The service is usually pretty good here. Be sure you are ready to order when your server comes around- sometimes they give you a little more than extra time before returning. Prices have definitely gone up since the last time I visited so check out their happy hour menu (5pm-9pm)- 1/2 off rolls, $2 off appetizers, $2.50 sake bombs, $4 drink specials.

Tasty, sure..but, dear lord, they charge top dollar for good, not GREAT, Asian food. I have to give them an extra point for the sushi boat bar, but, at those prices, it's not enough to get me to come back.

I have regular girls' nights here with my girlfriends and we always have a great time and totally enjoy our sushi. The happy hour is awesome; we always order rounds of Tokyo Tea! There are a few special rolls that are exclusive to either Hisui 1 or Hisui 2, but the chefs are nice enough to always let us order "off menu" if there's a roll we'd like to have that is only on the menu at the other location. Fantastic people too, they always remember us! Never a moment of disappointment at Hisui. Love this place.

The rolls are alright but the atmosphere is pretty unpleasant. You're going to have a hard time finding really good sushi in the area but for a more enjoyable meal, I'd choose Hana Sushi instead.

Pros: Price. Only $15.99 ($9.99 weekdays) for AYCE sushi boat and/or made to order! Staff: very friendly, cheerfully cleared plates, consistently refilled tea and water. Sushi chefs were gracious, good humored and regularly asked if there was any thing that he could make for us...most other places they seem annoyed or just ignore you. Food: good selection on the boats replenished regularly and an extensive list of made to order sushi. My favs were shrimp tempura roll topped with Unagi and avocado and Alaska. Fish to rice ratio was good. The ubiquitous fake crab filling did not dominate every roll like other buffets and there was plenty of sashimi, including popular salmon. Location: conveniently off HWY. 80, this will definitely be my lunch or dinner spot when traveling up to Sacto or Tahoe. Cons: - As with most sushi places run by Chinese, they tend to squirt a lot of sweet mayonnaise and red sweet sauce goop on top of their rolls. Just ask them to withhold it. - Tiger Lady hostess/owner? is a bit abrupt, but not rude...compared to the sweet staff, she's all about the business of efficiently and quickly seating you...time and customer rotation is money with these low prices. - AYCE is only at the sushi boat bar, so you have to sit communal style, right up next to and close to your neighbors. This was fine because everyone there was very civil and polite, including a family with a few small kids who behaved remarkably well for their young ages...a rarity. - sushi boat offerings start to thin out when the crowds do, around 1:00 when we were there. But, the chefs are always happy to make whatever you want. - if not eating at the boats, the menu gimmick of 1/2 price specialty rolls and happy hour specials are offered all day long. Geez, just write the real price and don't play games. - be ready to select whether you want to sit at the AYCE sushi boats, at a table for menu orders or to eat hibachi items. Tiger Lady expects an quick answer, even if you have no idea what she's talking about. So glad I studied up on Yelp. For the category of "cheap" sushi, it's well above average and a great deal.

The girlfriend and I stopped in for the all you can eat lunch time special at the sushi bar. This was the second time I've done this and I was not disappointed! The tasty food was flowing nonstop on the sushi boats, and anything else you could possibly want was made ready upon request of one of the sushi chefs behind the bar. The sushi chefs were great, helpful, and never hesitated to make a special request. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good all you can eat lunch spot, and will be coming here again!

We decided to try this place because Hisui 2 is so good we figured it'd be similar. Well we were definitely wrong. We stood at the front desk waiting for someone to come seat us for 15 minutes before someone finally came to seat us who wasn't very friendly. The rolls are much more expensive and the service sucked. We didn't get our drinks refilled once after asking multiple times and the worst part is that they weren't even busy and the service was this bad. Food was MEH for what you have to pay for it. Hisui 2 is much much better.

We definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant! Honestly, it is a terribly unfriendly stop! We walked in at 8:50 on Sunday evening 7/15/2012, elated and happily laughing since they were still open until 10PM. We checked out the all-you-can eat floating sushi bar, yet since there was only one remaining plate with watermelon and another with a California roll, we decided to head to the sushi bar where there was a family of 3 women (mom + 2 young daughters) happily eating away at mounds of food. We were even more happy when the waitress handed us each the Happy Hour menu for 1/2 off special rolls and drink specials, as we had in mind to eat through mounds of food ourselves. We then perhaps made the fatal error of deciding that we wanted to sit in different seats than the hostess picked out for us, because after that our evening took on a feeling of doom. We had several questions of the waitress and the sushi chef, as I was accompanied by a friend who admitted a genuine fear of sushi and said it was a "first" for him. Needless to say by the time we quickly read the long list of intensely complicated specialty rolls and then placed our order for two of the cooked-fish versions (to avoid my friend's gag reflex), it was squarely 9:01 PM. The waitress returned after placing our order to politely tell us that her boss said we could NOT have happy hour pricing, even though our waitress had just confirmed that we were ordering at happy hour pricing of 1/2 off. We overheard the boss talking loudly with our waitress about this, and we were embarassed for her to be treated so meanly on our behalf, not understanding that our order had to be in by 8:59.59, or else. When we objected to having the happy hour discontinued after it had been proposed to us, the waitress' boss actually insulted us loudly in front of other patrons by snapping that she had nothing to do with the pricing and that the computers automatically switched over at 9 and that it was too late, our order had been placed at full price... We could then hear her continue grumbling & laughing loudly behind the bar with the wait staff, and had we not already placed our order and gone 12 hours without a meal, we would have left right then and there. In retrospect we should have. So could the restaurant perhaps hire a hostess that welcomes guests and makes them feel, a little WELCOME? We paid for our two rolls and left, having spent $38 for one Jerry's and one Mike's roll, a small handful of extremely salty edamame, two glasses of water, and a $7 tip for our brow-beaten waitress. Understandably we were still hungry.

The sushi boat all you can eat bar was great. All the dishes were fresh and regularly rotated. You have a list if all the items they serve in front of you. So it's nice to call out an item to get it made right then for you. Can't see any other way to have sushi so fresh with such a variety at that price!!

I love love love this place. I live in Davis and am always willing to drive over to get my fix! My main focus is on the happy hour special for the sushi specials, which gives you half off between 2-9. I can't say I've had a roll that I didn't like, but the absolute favorite is the Tobys Roll. It is spicy crab and avocado inside, and has tuna and salmon on the top. Everyone there is friendly and there are cute turtles in the front entrance sometimes! I wouldn't recommend the buffet just because the happy hour is much cheaper and offers more of a variety.

Oh, Hisui. The food! The showmanship! The ONION VOLCANOS! I love to watch people cook. And when that cooking involves a percussion section in the form of butcher knives and garlic salt dispensers, all the better. We split the big ol' Chef's Choice, which included miso soup, salad, filet mignon (PERFECTLY rare), scallops, shrimp, calamari and lobster, coupled with vegetables and steamed rice. For dessert, we had the choice of chocolate, strawberry or green tea ice cream. The amount of food was well worth the $44.95 price tag. Gracious hostess, super-attentive server, and all the culinary entertainment you can handle. A definite winner in Vacaville.

It's like Benihana's. What else is there to say about it? I came on a Thursday afternoon for lunch and it wasn't busy. Most people were at the AYCE sushi area. I think it's about $14 for that. My friend and I were feeling lucky so we just had our own show at the grill and paid about $50 each for the "Chef's Choice" which consisted of filet mignon, lobster, scallops, shrimp, vegetables, etc. We didn't get fried rice which would have been an extra $4. The food was pretty good and the chef was pretty talented. He wasn't very friendly though. His name is Jack. Sorry Jack if your manager reads this. I'm just saying it as it is. You could smile once in a while also. Anyway, we paid a lot for a lunch for two, but it was pretty good. Part of that $50 is obviously for the cooking show. Anyway, good food and it's right off the 80. The outside of the building could look nicer if they want to attract more patronage. If I come back, I wouldn't do the grill area just because I did it already.

My husband absolutely LOVES the sushi here. Vacaville rolls are his favorite. I wasn't a fan of the sushi buffet so I ordered the sesame chicken instead and not only was the lunch special affordable and delicious but they didn't charge me for the all you can eat sushi I had tried. They easily could have if they wanted to but I appreciate the judgement call. We will definitely be returning. :)

This is your prototypical japanese steakhouse. The sushi comes around on the moat, but they offer other options as well. I'm not too particularly fond of this place as the food is okay and the service a bit on the rude side. The price is cheap, so you get what you pay for as the saying goes. They also do hibachi, but I've never tried it.

Hisui is basically the local Benihana. I've only had the Teppanyaki, so I can't comment on the sushi. The Teppanyaki grilled foods are basically on par with Benihana. The best options are the chicken, steak or shrimp because they seem to be the common choices that don't get overcooked. Shrimp gets done first, which is bad in large groups because you won't get the veggies and other food before the shrimp cools down. Timing is the tricky part about Teppanyaki and you tend to sacrifice good eating for entertainment, etc. It's a good spot to take a guest that has never been or special events, but not my choice for casual dining.

If you want good, fast service don't bother coming here. Good deals on bento boxes for lunch, and good beef teriyaki but extremely slow to greet you, seat you, serve you and check you out. Won't be back.

Went for a B-day dinner (6 of us). The Hibachi table is always a fun way to have dinner in a group. Got Dave as our Chef and Michele as our waitress. Both were GREAT!! We all had misjudged Dave based solely (and wrongly) on the basis of him being Caucasian! He was VERY skilled and had a great sense of humor. We were laughing non-stop. Michele was super efficient and funny too. All 6 of us left there saying it was our BEST (Hibachi table) experience ever! Food was yummy, and we even scored by getting the Birthday special!

3.5 stars Worn out little restaurant near the Vacaville outlets. I had low expectations when I saw how worn out the sign was for the restaurant, but I guess I was, overall, pleasantly surprised. Inside, there are cool decorations including live fish and turtles. I ordered the Jin's roll which was eel, shrimp, and crab. Really yummy but I wasn't sure whether the eel was fully cooked. Might not be a problem for most people, but I don't really like raw fish/seafood. I also went during happy hour, so it was awesome that the roll was half off. Then, I had the beef teriyaki dinner set, which was okay. The beef was dry, but they gave me a ton of rice, soup, and salad. I ordered all this to go, and while I was waiting the server gave me a tall glass of water which was perfect after shopping at the outlets!

The food was good and the hibachi was a fun experience but the pricing and the gouging really wasn't worth it. It all started with my bar experience and being charged full price drinks for some and happy hour price for others tho this was during happy hour. Or having people being able to add to my tab without my consent. Again the food was good but the management gouged us so horribly we had a large party and they made sure we paid for everything extra that they could throw on there.

Menu is all too over priced.. Chicken Katsu meal cost a lot with salad and miso soup and doesn't even taste all that great.

Come here as often as I can for the all-you-can-eat sushi bar. The chefs are very accommodating. Always get a deep fried banana before I leave. Obsessed with the Vacaville and the deep fried california roll and the monte vista.

I used to come here frequently with the hubby and/or family. It was actually the first Sushi Boat spot I've ever been to. We used to come here just for their AYCE sushi for $23. The rolls weren't bad. I just remember they didn't pack on too much rice, which is good and what makes me judge on any-kind of roll. Since then, we've found other AYCE sushi restaurants cheaper and closer to home. BUT, if in the area or after a long and exhausting day of shopping at the outlets and developing a sudden crave for sushi... this would definitely be the place.

The best sushi I ever eat so far. Me and the guys we went there a few times now and we drive there from Fairfield. For like $14 you get all you can eat sushi to die for! I came out almost $20, dont forget to tip the cook, he is doing a good job! You better eat all the rise baby or they will charge you for it and there is a sign, never seen anything like that before :)

Happy Hour rolls are delicious and affordable. Love Mike's #2, Mike's #21, Melani's roll, and the TNR roll. Yummy. The tapanyaki tables are fun too.

Ok, so I'm not used to waiting over an hour for veggie sukiyaki or chicken katsudon. Maybe I am spoiled or maybe this restaurant is slow and trying to do too much -- it's got an exhibition area like Benihana's, an all-you-can-eat sushi bar, and a traditional restaurant. They need to focus on one of the three.

TWO sushi bars, one fast food style, and one to order style. PLus Tempenyaki style tables and not bad atmosphere. Every time I PCS I look at the ENITRE neighborhood/town and eat at all the sushi places to find my "regular spot" this one won hands down. Nice people good location and the front bar is the place to sit.

Went there for the first time to try the lunch time All You Can Eat Sushi and it was such a bad experience. We followed another couple in as there was no host at the front to the sushi bar and as soon as we were about to sit the hostess comes and rudely scolded us for choosing our own seats. We had to step back and wait for her to sit us one seat over. Immediately I wanted to leave but the hubby wanted to try it anyway since we were there already. He's a huge fan of sushi and his take was that they lacked selection and quality. Most of the rolls are pre-made as we saw the "chef" pull them out of their fridge. I only tried a tempura roll which I found disgusting. The hostess who appears to be the owner must have noticed that I wasn't eating and so she sent her waitress over to ask if i wanted a Tempura lunch plate instead. I opted to try the tempura in an attempt to give the place another try. The tempura batter retained most of the oil as it fills your mouth when you bite down. The salad was drenched with dressing and the pickled cabbage lacked flavor. I do not recommend this place. Take the extra 15 minutes to go to Fuji's in Davis. At least there, you'll get stir fry noodles, beef short ribs, tempura of all sorts and a ton of fruit and desserts.

After seeing their ad in the local newspaper I was interested to see if their sushi buffet could compete or compare with the sushi buffet's I've visited in Davis. I was crossing my fingers that with it being closer to home I'd find myself going there rather than driving from Fairfield to Davis on my weekend's off whenever I needed a good sushi fix. I was terribly disappointed. For a hard hitting +$23 dinner sushi buffet ,their rolls were very mediocre and low grade quality. their seafood wasn't fresh and the avocado that topped some of the tempura rolls were already brown and oxidized making the visual appeal nonexistent. they always seem to be busy which made customer service one of the worst I've ever experienced. and unlike Fuji's and Davis sushi there was no fried delicacies making their rounds on the sushi boats. it took a good 10-15mins per special order. i wouldn't waste my time nor money there ever again.

The food isn't bad here. I've been here a few times for the food and the sushi and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the shrimp tempura before and boy was there a lot of shrimp. I barely went through half of if and I was full already. The price was steep at $15 though so it's not something that I will order again. The sushi rolls on the other hand are smaller than what I'm used to and I don't think that it is worth it for the price. It's good but not outstanding. They also have an all you can eat sushi lunch which I've never tried before but I think it's only $12 or $13 per person. Not bad. They also have a section of the restaurant that does teppanyaki so if you're into that, they have that also. Steaming onion volcano!!!

I've been coming here since 1997 when I moved to VV, but stopped recently. You can choose to sit at the sushi bar, or with a group where they do a Benihana-style show (I am not a trained seal and detest the idea of someone tossing prawns in my mouth, but that's me), or you can sit at a table and be served - the best choice. Their sukiyaki is great on a cold night, and many other dishes are great. Last time I was at the sushi bar, we paid for the all-u-can-eat deal and all they put out was funky sushi - lots of rice to fill you up, and very little fish. Same 3-4 items. As we sat in vain, watching the boats go around, looking for something good, then they started putting these sticky sweet fried bananas out there and said "don't you want a fried banana?" - just one of those fills you up. They were seriously trying to fill us up on cheap stuff and get us out of there.

I work in VV and came here a few times with a couple co-workers for lunch. We always go to the all-you-can-eat sushi bar because it's cheap and fast. I'm a city girl (San Francisco) and I know what's good sushi and what is not good sushi. Not suprised that their fish are "not fresh" because it's all-you-can-eat. anyway, it's a bogus japanese restaurant that is not owned by japanese people and this place is mainly making money off of people who doesn't know much about sushi. You can just tell that their raw fish are not fresh because of its color.. two stars just to be nice.

The all you can eat sushi boats are to die for you can order ANYTHING you want and AS MUCH as you want it's really too good to be true but it's real! Just wish they didn't close at 2pm

The only reason why this place gets four stars instead of five is because most waiters/waitresses there are super lost. But, like my man and I, who always get the hibachi dinner and get to watch a cooking show while eating, ignore the bad waiters. We complain amongst each other about the service, but the show always makes up for it! The filet mignon is soooooo tender and tastes amazing! My man prefers to go to Benihana's but since I love filet mignon, I must say Hisui's wins with the tastier filet! I also have food allergies, eggs and shellfish, and the cooks do an amazing job of cooking mines without cross contamination! Another reason why I forgive the bad service of the waiters. Eric (I think that's the waiters name), is an amazing cook and very good with the knife and tricks! Had an amazing experience when he was our cook. Dave is super entertaining and had some great stories to tell! This place is a little overpriced but we still come numerous times for the entertainment!

This place is crap. Soda is watered down, service is terrible, and they don't know how to take orders. I went there hoping to have the same service as #2. Not only did it take them 15 minutes to finally take an order. They messed up on my order. Took it back. Brought back the same thing and told me its new. Still the wrong order. Waiting 30 minutes for them to bring me back something that was right. On top of that they didnt even bother to say sorry or make up for the fact that they wasted my time, ruined what was suppose to be a good experience, and acted like everything was good. THAT IS NOT GOOD SERVICE. And just for note, it wasn't even a busy night - atleast that I could understand as its difficult to manage a house full of people, it can get busy and distracting. But when its during the week and the place is half empty, I expect better service.

We came here for the lunch buffet but have also had teppanyaki here as well. The sushi is of average grade with a selection of about 20 items on the lunch buffet. You sit around the sushi bar and boats shuffle food from one end to the other. You wont find anything memorable here, but its OK if you feel like eating alot of sushi. Lunch is about $16

  • Alan J.

Three words come to mind here, Eh had better. Maybe I'm spoiled (OK I really am) but we have been to shirashoni a few times and benihana once and although the shtick is the same everywhere the food is not as good here as other places. Went for lunch and we had to wait as there was only one chef ( sorta grumpy too) the rice was standard faire but the steak was just ok. I can't prove it but I think they water down the sodas too, they taste kinda funny. For $30 a piece for a lunch I expect better. We did not do the sushi bar ( all you can eat?) because I don't do raw fish!! Considering they were almost empty I'm surprised they make it. Plus it's not easy to get too, its been here for but I never have Been in an almost sure thing I probably won't be back either. Save your money others are better.
