Favorite place to go for my sushi fix. This place is always full of customers and it's easy to see why. Attentive staff, great deal (buy just 3 rolls on their special menu and get everything 50% off) and fresh, yummy sushi. Our favorites are: - fresh salmon sashimi - Vegas roll - YaYa Roll - Kamikaze Roll This list can go on and on as I've tried pretty much everything on their menu (I live 5 minutes away). Try this place and leave with a happy belly and happy wallet.

Def a good spot if you want your sushi fix. We got our rolls 50% off around lunch time. Therefore, we ate so much for a really good price. Interior could look better, but really who cares. Sushi was def good.

Well I like that the sushi is cheap. Managed to get full with my boyfriend and spent only $38 worth of sushi during happy hour which isn't so bad. In my opinion, they don't have that much variety but the sushi they prepared and do have is very good. Wish I found out about this place sooner. Awesome sushi place

First time here and we were seated fairly quickly as a party of 3. The only reason i gave 4 stars is for the food. But if i based my visit solely on service it would be a 5 star plus! From the young lady who greeted us at the door to our server , perfect! A smile and good attitude towards our requests. The sushi is above mediocre but not the best I've tried. But i did inhale all the dishes into my tummy so it was still yummy. That's why i didnt provide a picture x: Overall pretty great considering there aren't much around the area. Must try! The food came out pretty fast also considering it was almost a full house . Parking is great and spacey: no problem!

The best sushi in Upland and I say that with a lot of experience. The food gets 5 stars, price gets 5 stars, and service is a hit or miss. Depends on day, time and who the servers are, will depend on whether it's 2 stars to 5 stars, hence the overall rating of 4 stars. I highly recommend this place to those that love great sushi but not highly critical to service. The sashimi are thick, Good quality pieces. Awesome that they are included in the 50% off menu. Check out pictures and you'll see the quality. They have good variety of rolls but only 3 specialty rolls (rolls unique to this place) that are standout. Their oysters are a great add to the meal too. They are seasonal but are prepared nicely - cleaned well and topped deliciously.

I've been coming here for a while now, and never had any problems. My fiancé and I decided to go there today for lunch and when we got our miso soup I noticed that mine had a dead fly floating in it. I told the server and he removed the miso from our bill and brought us both new ones. In my opinion it all comes from the same place so I didn't want to try it again, and just left it there. We took our other leftovers home, and when we opened the box later in the day we noticed that there was another fruit fly on our hand told!!! The B review on their front window says it all, we will not be returning here.

When you look to Yelp for business information and are hit with that reminder that Yelp is not all-seeing and all-knowing... The business information on Yelp was outdated as this business changed their Sunday hours. What would have been helpful is if the business hours were posted on the door... they were posted on one of the wooden posts in the patio area. Have you ever looked on a wooden post for business hours? Neither have I, up until that time. Well can't comment on the sushi but I can comment on the business practices: DO BETTER.

I am a sucker for cheap and decent food They have a special where if you get three or more sushi you get everything 50% off We been going here for lunch as its fast and closer My first experience was not pleasant but after giving another try I can call this place good! The server knows us and everytime we walk in he knows what I like. It makes a huge difference when the servers know what they are doing and what the normal customers get.. makes them look professional! Their cut of sushi had gotten better, not as thin as how it used to be! The rolls are decent size and tastes pretty good! What makes it even better is that they got $2 beer mmhmm sushi and beer you could never go wrong with that combination!

This place is my go to spot in the area! I have been coming here for years, and everyone I bring loves it as much as I do . I'm sad to say that they have taken off the AYCE option that they use to have, but at least they have their get 3 dishes and get the bill 50% off deal which is AMAZING! My girlfriend & I ordered: the baked mussels, both albacore & yellowtail sashimi, dragon roll, Mexican roll, and baby baked lobster roll as well as 2 Sapparos our total came out to only $44! You can't beat that price. I highly recommend any of their rolls and their baked mussels, this place is good for those that like their rolls cooked, fried or with sauces. They have a variety of different types of rolls to choose from ranging from the classics like rainbow roll to their own like the golden dragon. As far as the atmosphere it's very laid back which is great! I love to come here with friends, family, especially with after work when I just wanna hang out and do nothing more than have a beer haha! We sat at the sushi bar and the chefs were on it, we got all of our food fast!

Omg..I was craving sushi for months and found this place and I was like 50% if you order 3..not bad. I decided to try it...the worst choice I ever made for a sushi place. Cons 1.Their plates, tables, everything are sticky and dirty (The server says that its just how it is...) 2. Their sashimi are stinky. (I never been to a sushi place that their fish smells like this) 3. Their roll break easily (We didnt finish any of our rolls..and server didnt even ask why lol..) Pros Server seems nice (he was just nice..no customer service) Thats all there is.. If you want disgusting sushi, its not even that cheap because they over price all the rolls anyways. Dont get fooled Or come and try...I honestly am a sushi fan..been to many many places and cannot be worse than this place. Yuck.

This is my new sushi joint! My boyfriend and I went today after a string of bad luck with sushi excursions. The food was very good with the big rolls that were extremely filling. The best part however is once you order three rolls you get 50% off those rolls and any other role you order after that. My boyfriend and I had three rolls two beers and we only payed $25. There is no all you can eat sushi. But I am personally okay with that I think that all you can eat sushi can be a bit of a rip off. The restaurant is self is very cute inside. We went on a weekday so we're unsure of how busy it got but it did look like it would get a little busy on the weekends. The service was great. Our waiter was very informative. With this great a price of sushi and two dollar beers we will definitely be going back.

I love sushi! And it's really hard to find a restaurant that can make good, fresh sushi, have low prices on saki and other items on their menu. I am new to this area, but this is the most affordable, quality sushi I can find as of right now. Their seafood tastes looks and tastes fresh! And the oysters are $1 each! I buy oysters at a grocery market for the same price. Why do the hard work of cracking them open and seasoning them at home, when you can get it here for the same price and no labor? Plus 50% off when you order 3+rolls. I'm a sucker for sushi so I end up ordering 4 rolls anyway. Waiters and waitresses are very nice. The sushi chefs are always greeting customers as they come and go. This is my boyfriend's and I favorite sushi spot!

  • Kary H.

This place deserves 5 stars!! The sushi rolls were BIG and FRESH!! Plus crafted and presented very nicely and appetizingly ^-^ I'm inclined to say that this is THE BEST inexpensive sushi place I've been to thus far. (It's inexpensive 'cause of the 50% off 3-item-minimum deal) My boyfriend and I ordered the Shiro Roll, Yaya Roll, and the salmon belly sashimi. Mmmm! For dessert we had the banana puff rolls with plum wine ice cream. Pretty good! I love this restaurant. Love love love!

Hands down the BEST sushi and INCREDIBLE service. My family and I go here at least once a week.

    (5)
  • ItsShmee E.

I love the sushi here. It's not the best I've had, but it's great for the price. I especially love that they discount their sushi if you order a certain amount. I don't think I've ever had a bad sushi roll from Sushi Shiro. I'm taking 1 star off because sometimes the service is a little forgetful or really slow. However, they're really nice. And like someone else said, the tables can be a little sticky sometimes. A lot of places are like that. Restaurants need to stop using the same rag to smear stuff around multiple tables. Use a cleaning solution and change cleaning rags more often.

    (4)
  • Leilani H.

$25 for all you can eat and all the rolls we tried are pretty damn good. The only one I wasn't found of was "the Mexican." The mussels were the best I've had to date. Enjoy!

  • Jill R.

Best sushi outside of LA. If you buy 3 or more rolls, sashimi or orders of nigiri everything is 50% off the menu price, so nigiri ends up being $2.50-3 for 2 pieces & rolls are around $3-6. Good deal! And they have decent inexpensive drinks & great beer prices ($2 Sapporo on tap / $4 for 2 small beers). The only complaint I have is the club/dance music they play - it doesn't really go with a sushi vibe. Easy, free parking. Large restaurant good for groups. Always good service.

This place is awesome, I was referred here by my nephew who is a regular. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely family friendly, we will be back soon.

  • Christopher S.

Great sushi, great prices for the food and drinks, but the service leaves a bit to be desired. $2 Sapporo draft if you buy food, and 50% off your bill if you buy 3 or more rolls. The sushi is excellent, though I wouldn't recommend the green tea ice cream. This place is great, and I would give it five stars if the service was a bit better. They don't seem to like asking you if you if you would like more beer, but it is a minor complaint given how great their food and prices are.

So, I was here with my friends because people recommended to come here because the food is good and reasonable prices. First walk in, I felt this restaurant very comfy and spaces. They have lots of staffs and they were very friendly. I like it. So we ordered the special menu( they have pictures menu too if u need it). The food were really good and yummy. They actually take time to prep your food nicely before serving you. Thats a plus. We ordered like 5 rolls, 2 sashimi, 3 hand rolls, 1 quail egg shooter. The bill come out like $50 bucks! So damn cheap for good food like this. I will definitely come back here. Highly recommend!!

  • Carol F.

I love coming here with my friends and family they have the best sushi and it's not pricey .. The servers are all nice and as soon as you walk in they greet you like family. I live their Philadelphia Roll and their Mexican Roll and the Sapporo on tap thumbs up !!

The last time I came here was when it was all you can eat and there was about five people total dining here, yesterday I came and there was about a 5 mine wait to be seated at the sushi bar. It's an a la carte menu now where if you order 3 or more rolls your bill is 50% of which is pretty smart and I prefer this over ayce. The fish here feels sort fresh and my new favorite dish is the salmon belly. My friend and I totaled up to $28ish ordering two rolls salmon belly and green tea ice cream which was great because that would be around the price I would pay individually if it were ayce still, I left feeling pretty satisfied and happy that I didn't over eat like i usually do with sushi. I became into sushi shiro hungover feeling about 50% and I left feeling almost back to normal around 80% :)

  • Donovan A.

Really bad customer service. Half empty dining room and an empty bar but still a 20 minute wait in the dark unfurnished outside patio. Servers were rude and would stare every time they would bus a new empty table said they knew we wanted to sit down and they just refused. Ended up sitting at the bar (which at any other place be a free for all but not here) later we would be asked to move over to accommodate the person next to us and their imaginary friend. Seriously, good food but probably the worst service and definitely not worth it.

    (1)
  • Nadine S.

Best sushi ever!! So fresh and delicious. All sushi is half the price! I always get the crazy jalapeño roll, rainbow roll and shiro roll

    (5)
  • Rob C.

Food is always good here. Unfortunately, the service recently has gone down. Long wait even though there are multiple empty tables. Not sure if owner is too cheap to hire adequate help or what the problem is. Time to look for other sushi places near by that have better service.

  • Vatisha S.

Great sushi if you sit at the bar. Had beyond terrible service when I was seated at a table. We sat, had 1 beer each, and got completely ignored the rest of our time there. I'm talking no drink refills, no water, no coming back to ask if we wanted any food or another round (which we did want)....nothing for almost an hour. He wouldn't even come back to give us our check (for 2 beers) until we were about to walk out. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not less is due to the great quality of sushi and good deals with the 50% off 3 or more rolls.

  • risa f.

Best sushi spot in Upland among the many in that city! They have great deals on their rolls, sushi, sashimi that if you buy at least 3 they all become 50% off so it's fairly cheap but taste great. The sushi taste fresh and the customer service is great. Very attentive. Kids plates are also well proportioned and cheap. They loved it. Kirin for $2. Oyster on a half shell for $1! Can't beat that. It's become my family's favorite go to sushi spot.

  • Rob J.

The best all you can eat sushi bar in the area. Everything is all you can eat the whole menu is available. Lobster rolls, albacore and jumbo ship are some of my favorites. Big place with TVS and really good service Ming has been my server dozens of times and he is on top of it! Try it out its worth it

  • Rho L.

The one thing this place as going for them is their 50% off our bill if you order 3+ rolls/items. Of course their rolls are over priced so it really looks like you are getting a great deal. How is a regular roll going to be $18? The quality isn't the best. Went here twice, first time was a decent experience (the gf likes it a lot more than I do, hence the reason we went back). We were seated promptly and the service was decent. The second time we went, it was an evening. They had a decent crowd, the place wasn't packed and had plenty of seating available. We went in and were told to put our name on the list and wait. WTF? You have plenty of tables open, there are 2 people at the sushi bar and it probably seats like 10 people, yet you want us to just stand here and wait, when you have some waiters just standing around? So we probably waited for 10 minutes until we were seated. Yes, that's not a big deal, I've been in the restaurant industry and I understand that you have to wait when you go out to eat, but this place wasn't even packed. Ordered 4 rolls some nigiri and tried their mussel. 3 of the 4 rolls were the same as what we ordered the first time we were here because they weren't bad. However, the shrimp on top and tempura shrimp on the inside roll (I forgot what it was called) the tempura shrimp was soggy. How in the whole world is this place going to serve old soggy tempura? Serious? Nothing against Korean owned sushi bars, because I've been to a few good ones, but they seem to have the same style and same sauces at all the places in this area. Don't know if I will be returning, but if I do it may be the last time depending on how the service and how the fish end up tasting like.

This place was very good. The oysters were delicious. Shrimp, Salmon and Tuna Sushi was on point! Definitely come back for some more.

The food is good. The waitress is great. The chef on the left side was an as*hole. Trying to tell me some of the stuff on the menu besides sushi is not half off.

  • Irene J.

Finally some place that is in this area where a sushi restaurant doesn't suck. They were quick and the food was fantastic. Hated the music being played, wished it would have been more dimly and traditional. Either way, pretty good spot.

  • Lois Y.

Not one to choose sushi on a given day (I don't eat raw fish), but this place is definitely worth checking out for those who aren't too keen on sushi. They have a huge selection of different types of rolls, cooked and raw, and every time we pay a visit we end up ordering over 5 or 6 different dishes AND on top of that they offer 50% off for ordering over 3 dishes. I definitely recommend the baked salmon, vegas roll, and tiger roll. Service is great and sushi is always fresh and affordable. Its worth the drive and I would definitely pick this place over the local sushi places like Akasaka and Domo Roll in Walnut.

  • Alyssa G.

Went for the first time, it was busy so we sat at the bar. The food was decent but their were fruit flies near the sushi bar. Also they weren't very clean dust accumulating on the bar tables. The fridge where they kept the fish was over frosted if not taken seriously could get someone really sick. Over all I won't be going back until they fix those issues and suggest you pay attention to where your eating.

My friend and I went here last night after deciding not to eat at another Upland sushi establishment that had food littered all over the floor and loud people all over - pay attention to that because karma will come in play later. First and foremost, the sushi is NOT all-you-can-eat. There is a half off promotion if you order more than three things on the plastic menu, which is a great marketing trick because the items are priced so that you ending up spending about the same as AYCE. Whatever, overeating isn't that much fun anyways (jk, it totally is). Rolls were of decent taste, and the sashimi was also of good quality. I am not a sushi connoisseur, so I can't speak in intricate terms about the food here, but I know I've had better. I accompanied my meal with a White Peach Martini (not embarrassed), which was definitely sweet like our server described/warned, but I really liked it. My friend helped himself to a couple of beers that totaled up to $4. My cocktail was 5.95, so not bad drink pricing at all. Halfway through the meal, in the midst of an animated conversation (is there any better kind?), I knocked over a full glass of water. Luckily, I missed the food and my precious martini, so the water was only on the table and floor. I ended up with napkins all over the table and floor (my friend insisted that it was too embarrassing to move tables), so I guess that's what I get for judging another restaurant based on its clientele. Our server Allison was great - knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. The other server who helped clean my spill was also very personable, although we didn't catch her name. We ended up spending $60 + tip for five rolls, two plates of sashimi, one cocktail, and two beers. Like I mentioned before, the value ends up working out the same as an AYCE establishment, so no harm done there. I will be back.

Went in last night for dinner. Busy for a Wednesday night. We waited outside for about 15-20 minutes till they called us in. Got sat at a table but took at least another 10 minutes till they acknowledged us. Another 10 minutes for drinks and to place the order. I'm a server as well so I do my best to understand and be patient. The food was decent but the 1 star goes to the argument with our server... I had ordered 2 large Saporos but our server forgot to bring me the second one so I asked a different person. They brought it out right away. However when the bill came i was charged for 3. She insisted she brought me 2 and the other server brought me one. I told her I know what I drank and was not trying to steal a $2 beer from her. I asked her if arguing with me about it was worth losing my business for the future. She kept going and I almost lost it. Never. Coming. Back. Again. Stubborn staff. Customers always wrong apparently.

So I went here one afternoon with some friends and they completely forgot my order, but not the ones of my friends. I politely asked them to check on my order and the waiter said he would get it ASAP. My two friends finished their meals before I got my food, so I just asked to waiter to make mine to go because I don't want my friends to have to watch me eat. Over 45 minuets have passed and I am still waiting for my food. This place has most definitely made me regret that I have come here. Also they have continued to serve others guests and bring them their food but I am still waiting for mine . It's honestly ridiculous. They did not compensate us in any way shape or form and it has made me extremely angry.

My mom grabs me from the airport and tells me she wants sushi so as the Yelper it was my job to find something in the area that's well rated. I remembered this place from my search of AYCE before and off we went. We started with some appetizers. They don't really do as much side dishes as some ayces do, just sticking to more basics. We grabbed some mix tempura which was decent batter though the sauce was a bit bland. I'm a nigiri person mostly and I thought that everything was pretty fresh. Rice to fish ratio is in a acceptable range. I like their rice here quite a bit. It sticks well together but the seasoning of the rice was really well done...a bit sweet, a bit tangy from the vinegar. I normally don't rave about sushi rice, but this was surprising. We had: Albacore- I thought this was decent and the ponzu they use is a good balance of flavor superwhite tuna- very creamy and buttery! mackerel- I love mackerel but it is so hit/miss at places being too brined and becoming salty. Theirs was just right and they put the typical ponzu, green onion but also a dab of siracha which was actually a really good accompaniment. tuna- fresh but the flavor was just okay. yellowtail- this is very good, probably the freshest out of the bunch Shiro roll- this was pretty good, just big and rather messy to eat and specially it wasn't rolled very tight. Soft shell crab roll - this was in their picture menu but not where to order Salmon skin handroll- theirs was really crispy and comes hot to the table just the way I like it. Dinner was about $26 and normally most dinners you can get shrimp or uni and it wasn't something on their menu which was a bit of a bummer for me and odd....every place in my city offers it and then some, but we do have major competition. The service was friendly, but was just okay about coming to refill drinks. They serve AYCE by giving you a menu where you mark your choices and hand it to them. The orders came staggered and slow so I think they're trying to pace you out which is fine so you're not overwhelmed, but there shouldn't have been gaps when they have a whole list of my order right in front of them. Also when it came after our 3rd round they didn't give us our menu back for a while and seemed hesitant to give us back the menu to note anything else. I only wanted one thing and got it then got the check. The ayce didn't mention any dessert after and we weren't offered so I'm assuming they don't offer any. I had a hard time thinking of what to rate it. The food would be a solid 4 but the service brought it down a notch. My mom really liked this place though and would return again. Good quality food and enjoyable but they need to up their service to make this place the place to go for all you can eat sushi.

The Ambiance & Decor Grade: A This is a very nice venue. There's a classy feel to it which would make it ideal for a date or any special occasion. Service Grade: A It wasn't very crowded at lunchtime on Friday. They gave us ample time to look over the menu and got us whatever we wanted or needed. Nothing spectacular since we didn't ask very much of them. I THINK we all got complimentary Miso Soup. Food Grade: B The lunch Chirashi Bowl was adequate in terms of taste and portion. It featured 2 slices each of salmon, tuna, egg, red snapper, white tuna, and seared albacore. The fish were all fine, but cut moderately thin. The red snapper was seasoned with a drop of Sriracha and this gave some life to that specific cut. The "white tuna" was fatty and flavorful. The seared albacore was the most savory because it was seasoned with sesame seeds and what appeared to be Ponzu sauce. The egg had a nice presence and was rich in the cooked yolk flavor. The rice was seasoned lightly with vinegar and some rendition of soy sauce and was more enjoyable than plain white Japanese rice. Conclusion & Price Grade: B+ They offer 30% off Monday through Friday from 11AM-3PM so this made my Chirashi Bowl only $10 after tax and tip. My buddy Derrick L. got a Salmon Bento Lunch Box for $8 after tax and tip and it offered A LOT of food. I recommend something like that if you want a filling, good, and affordable lunch. This place would be great to go with some friends after a busy day at the office to grab a couple beers, order a bottle of sake, and eat some tasty Japanese food. They offer a lunch and dinner "All You Can Eat" for $25.99 and I REALLY wanted that, but none of my friends wanted to join me. I will be returning VERY SOON for the All You Can Eat and will update this review appropriately.

Dudes night out! Came out here to catch up with the college friends to eat and drink. We started our dinner here. Started off with a round of beer and an oyster shooter for everyone. Oyster shooter was really salty. I thought I was drinking a shot of instant ramen with all that sodium. Then came our specialty rolls. We've ordered probably half the menu on the specialty side. Salmon seemed a bit odd because of the discoloration but it tasted fine. My friend really liked their salmon scallop roll and reordered that but this time the color was still the same plus had a really fishy taste on the salmon. Not fresh. Once we started to get full our appetizer came out. Ninja stars. These are really tasty. Cut up mushroom with fried fish and teriyaki sauce. II really wished this came out before all of our specialty rolls. After the night came to a close we asked for the check. Oh wait, we never got our mixed tempura. We asked the waiter and his response was "You know what, I have NO idea." Hey, at least he was honest haha! But after waiting another 10 minutes we were like you know what, if you guys didn't make it yet, forget about it. We're ready to get hammered! Place had better days. I will be coming back here again sometime in the near future but I do hope they get fresh salmon!

Among the AYCE sushi places in the Inland Empire, this does score high marks. It has been a while since we came here. The biggest reason, is that Sushi Takumi has been our safe house for the past few years. But every once in a while we like to retry some of the out sushi ayce. There are a few factors I judge by for suishi: nigiri, hand rolls, sushi rolls, service, and price. THE TASTE 3+/5: The nigiri this time was much better. I would have been nice to have a little less rice but nonetheless the fish portion was large to compensate. In taste, I rarely give 5/5 unless at the moment I lose all other senses: The Salmon and salmon belly was 4/5. Ono was 2/5. Yellowtail 4+/5. Albacore 4/5. Among the hand rolls, we had the spicy yellowtail 2/5, spicy tuna 2/5, salmon skin roll 3+/5. We also had the sunshine roll which was 3/5. I wasn't able to taste many rolls but they did appear creative and tasty. I plan on coming back to concentrate on the rolls for the next time. Overall because the yellowtail was so yummy, I gave a much better score. THE SERVICE 5/5: Flawless. In my past experience, we have always had quick service. Today we had a moderate crowd with a few empty tables (its usually half empty but a very spacious restaurant). This time our waitress/waiter filled our waters, picked up our ayce checklist, and checked on us appropriately. THE PRICE 3/5: A little on the higher end compared to their competitors. If they did a few more finishing touches I think they would compare to their neighboring sushi places. They didn't have a description for all of their rolls which limits our willingness to order. (asking the server over and over again just seems inefficient and bothersome). They didn't include miso soup or edename in the ayce selection which is a cheap but natural addition to the overall "japanese" experience. Overall, I would come back to try again at times I had a little more bump in my income.

Wowza!! What great sushi! We went for the AYCE dinner. It was about $5 more than the average price in the area but well worth it. My favorite sushi was the albacore. The pieces of fish were on the bigger end and very fresh. We also got a few rolls to share with my favorite being the baby lobster roll. Service was good and attentive. There are many many options for sushi in this area. I think this one is going to because the go to for now because it was awesome. I just wish they had some late night happy hour or other drink specials. but it was a Saturday so that's just wishful thinking on my part...

By far the best AYCE sushi I've been too. My wife and I love it! It was very quiet slow Sunday night. Watched the football game while eating sushi what else do we need? Will be going back soon

Ehh... I want to give 2.6 stars, but I liked their decor. It's a black and white theme, my kind of colors (though they are not technically real colors). It's a very Americanized sushi place. I think they have an all-you-can-eat kind of menu, but we didn't get those. Got one chirashi bowl and one sashimi plate. They were pretty overpriced for the amount they give and well, since it's very Americanized, of course the fresh sashimi weren't so fresh. They weren't so terrible, but just not somewhere I'd go unless there was nowhere else to go and when I'm not worried about spending money. 2 people, we went at night time (they have a cheaper lunch menu) total came to $40 .. Again, overpriced for what we got.

Love this place. They have $1 oysters, and 50% off sushi when you order 3 different items. I always get really great service here. Lately, it seems like the place is getting more popular, because I have found a line for seating the last few times I went. I often just sit at the sushi bar anyway, so a line for a table doesn't bother me. Make sure you ask about their beer specials -- sometimes they have $2.00 Sapporos. They will also bring free custom sauces to your table for your sushi if you ask.

yummy food and the sushi chef was awesome! very friendly- not badly price either...me and my boyfriend ordered 4 dishes and a pitcher of beer and paid 30 bucks- we even got free ice cream. we will visit again.

Love this place! Amazing prices on rolls and beer! Service is always excellent!!!

  • J G.

Not AYCE but feels like it. They have a great promotion where rolls are half off after you buy 5.. They also have great beer specials that other AYCE places don't. The service is truly awesome as everyone is very attentive and they have a great attitude which really makes a difference. Food is tasty but not amazing.

By far the best sushi place in town! I have been going here for years and I won't go anywhere else! The prices are very reasonable, especially with the fairly new 50% off deal. The food is delicious and the fish is always very fresh. Sometimes I would just tell the chef to make me something different because I like to try new things and it always turns out great. The entire staff is extremely friendly and very personable. Once they get to know you as a regular they greet you by name which I love. They always remember our conversation from the previous time we were there even if it has been a couple months. It is a very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. I even have all my family gatherings here and they are always very accommodating for our large group. I highly recommend trying this place you won't be disappointed!

  • Annie R.

Honestly amazing! Greeted right when we walked in. Got our table and was told about the 3 or more special. Any 3 roll, sashimi, or sushi is 50% off. The fish was extremely fresh and not covered in rice! Will go back again and again!

I would like to say that this sushi bar is one of the best places to eat. Ive been to many sushi establishments, and have eaten sushi for over 15 years so as a professional sushi consumer, I can say this place is deliciously awesome. Their fresh fish and service was top notch. I arrived for lunch and was greeted by the waiter and the sushi chief. I immediately was asked if I wanted the bar or table. I chose the bar because thats closest to the sushi. It was very clean and organized and they had some music playing. I ordered tempura udon, green tea, a cut roll and two hand rolls. The sushi chief talked to me about how my day was going and we were commenting on the news on the tv positioned in the back of the sushi bar. I got my Udon nice and hot. I requested if they could add chopped green onion, ginger, and also asked for pickled diakon radish. The chef gladly gave me these add ons with a smile. The server refiled my green tea when I ran out and smiled and was like, "here's more for you." As I was given my hand rolls, I noticed the back door open and saw that there was a delivery person bringing in fresh fish. I asked the chief how frequently he gets his fish. He replied, usually 2-3 times per week. To me, that is a sign of freshness and good turn over. My hand rolls were bustling full of crab, spicy tuna, and shrimp. They weren't overly drenched in sauce like some of the other places do. Im glad I can taste the fish over the sauces. Thats a plus. They are larger than many other sushi rolls as well. Im glad they have a 50% off menu because usually a basic California roll costs 6-8$ at other places. Here its only 3$ and its a deal. I would recommend Sushi Shiro because of the fact that they have a good environment, fresh fish ,and good staff that will try their best to give you what you want. Ive been to LA, high desert, all the way to San Diego, and Id say this is one of the more delicious places around.

I love this place. My best friend and I comes here at least once a week or maybe once every two weeks. The baked lobster roll is Ahhhhhmazing :) i'm also in LOVE with their Baked Salmon Roll :) and their service is great :) their friendly and the food comes out fast :) if you haven't tried this place, I def recommend it!

  • Joanne H.

The bad reviews or not true! I think some people just put them to try and ruin a place. My family and I have ate here for a few years now and they have the freshest fish of anywhere around here. That s why I go there. Plus, now with the new specials buy 3 rolls and get them all 1/2 price is great! Some people just complain because they can! Go there and try it the service and fish is the very best!

  • C R.

The sushi itself is pretty decent although I have tasted better elsewhere (try Enya or Sushi Gen in Little Tokyo). I am somewhat of a sushi snob though so novice sushi eaters may not be able to discern the difference. However, the price here can't be beat. 50% off all dishes came out to a total bill of $27! I have paid 3-4x that much for worse quality sushi before. For the location, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and cost of the food.

I really didn't like this place that much. The decor was mediocre and the food matches the decor. I got a bento box with salmon teriyaki. It just didn't taste that fresh. My bf got a rainbow roll and he said it was meh.

3.5 Stars Weekdays are very quiet... Not a lot of customers. We ordered albore sushi, something firecracker roll, and shiro roll. I like all of them. The only thing I graded down because i feel the fishy taste is very strong, especially the scallops in the firecracker).. the price.. it might be $1.00-2.00 more than other places but overall its an average experience. I can't remember from top of my head how much were the rolls, but i think it was $12.00-14.00 for each roll.. The plum ice cream is pretty good.. Worth the tried. :D it's 3 scoops so might need to share if you are full. I dont think I walk out thinking i will crave for this place or the rolls... so I gave 3.5 stars..

  • Mandy W.

okay pricing...decent food, like not shoving you with lots of rice to fill you up faster, but actually have good seafood. my family loved it and would be happy to go back anytime! Also, there are happy hour specials with $1 raw oysters!!! YUMMM!!!

  • Barbara A.

For $25 for AYCE, it's alright. All of the nigiri sushi tasted pretty good, fresh even so if I found a coupon then I'd probably come back. They definitely didn't card us for cocktails... should I be offended? The tuna and salmon were fantastic, and the yellow tail and the white tuna were MMM MMM GOOD. I felt like ever piece of fish was adequately cut, easy to chew, and the rice grains were firm, no mush! The baked lobster roll however... I could tell that it had been thawed recently. It had a slight aftertaste that was of the freezer. The crunch roll and the dragon roll were good though, I'd order take out of these if I lived nearby. The outdoor seating is nice in the non-summer months, especially with their mildly strong drinks. Good place to catch up with girlfriends, or bring a girl to. It's one of the nicer AYCE sushi places in the IE.

    (4)
  • Stella H.

With the AYCE sushi here, you get to order sushi in multiple rounds. As you place many orders in each round, they bring out your subsequent orders slower and slower each time. They literally lag on bringing it out and just play dumb, shrug it off, completely disregard your order, and just play dumb as if the order isn't even pending anymore. But if you're smart and pay attention, you know that all your orders haven't been fulfilled yet. So Sushi Shiro just attempts to insult your intelligence and shrugs it off as if you're clueless to the fact that a third of the stuff hasn't come out. As soon as we reminded them, it didn't take long at all for the order to come out so they couldn't have been working on it the whole time. I'm never coming back here again!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The place is a tad worn down, but the sushi was great. Again, this is a three and half stars. I will go again if in the area for sure.

  • Jani K.

5 stars for the All You Can Eat! For $25, you can eat infinity sushi, rolls, appetizers, anything!! Their AYCE menu is packed with delicious stuff and they don't seem to skimp out on the quality or size of the fish just because you are doing AYCE. A perfect place to go with people who love eating sushi and who love eating a LOT! 3 stars though for their regular menu. Everything is crazily overpriced and their spicy chirashi bowl was NOT tasty. It wasn't spicy -- it was SWEET. Totally weird. Why would you ruin delicious pieces of fish with nasty sweet sauce?! Not good, not smart! I would definitely go again, but just for the all you can eat!

It's hard to find a nice AYCE sushi place..but i'm glad I found one, in upland. Jason K. my dear roommate. I know your sleeping since it's 2:43 am right now. Glad your not snoring tonight though. But I would like to thank you, for taking me here after our snowboarding trip. You knew I was hungry and I know you were too. You told me this place had an amazing AYCE deal for $25 with sushi that came with HUGE portions. STACKED! and their salmon toro (belly) and tuna toro (belly) was like butter. Melted gently and slowly in my mouth. Appetizers like the mussels and fried jalapeños tickled my stomach until the real nigiri sushi and baby lobster roll filled me up. The fish was fresh. Portion and size were amazing. I felt like they were giving away all their fish, especially a wrong order for a different table. Ended up giving us more salmon nigiri we had asked for. The table near us were glaring at you the whole time man. Luckily, we gobbled everything up less than 5 minutes. Thanks bro, for taking me. Top 2 on my all time AYCE sushi list. Love you

So i came here with Zhen Y. and Matt G. on a Friday night. My friends saw the good reviews on yelp so we decided to try it out. Good thing they suggested it because it turned out to be the best AYCE sushi you can possibly get! The staff was friendly and the ambiance is very nice. (a little dim so maybe a good place for a date?) In the night its about 25 dollars a person but the sushi quality and quantity you get is extremely good. Everything is fresh so if you want to go to a AYCE sushi restaurant with good quality, quantity, and service this is the place to be!

  • Brian P.

Sushi Shiro is a great all you can eat sushi spot. I'll say that right off the bat. This place rocks in terms of quality and quantity. It was quite a good night when fellow reviewer Maurice and I stuffed our faces with quite a high volume of seafood and beer. The rolls are made very well, and with extreme thoroughness, I've never been to an AYCE sushi place that actually cares about quality. The sushi pieces were quite tasty, and unlike most other areas you'd go to, the fish was actually fresh! The Saba tasted nice and oily, without TOO much of the fishiness. Their yellowtail, although not the best, was definitely note-worthy for AYCE quality. Service was excellent. We actually had two servers serving us simultaneously; one bringing us food, the other bringing us tea and beer. Not bad for $25!

I am a regular at Sushi Shiro for one reason - I love their food!!!! I do prefer sushi over rolls and their servings are the largest with the least amount of rice in the area. The fish is always fresh and the most flavorful. My favorites are salmon, salmon belly, seared peppered salmon, yellowtail belly, and halibut. They do have a great selection of rolls and I do have a favorite, it is their massive spicy tuna hand roll.

    (5)
  • Veronica G.

No longer has AYCE but they DO have 50% off sushi. I guess its an even trade. Only 2 servers working so the service lagged but the food was good. No soap in the women's bathroom made me kinda sketchy they washed their hands.... But other than that I would consider going back

    (4)
  • Richard L.

Awesome place for all you can eat sushi!!! They have an enormous selection of different kinds of sushi. I come usually when they open around 4pm during the weekend to be the first ones to sit down and get served. The service is perfect and when you check in with yelp, you get a free soft drink. I recommend their firecracker and spider rolls here. They know how to serve sushi with presentation and flavor that exceeds any sushi restaurant that I've gone to. They also have good deals during the week for beer. $! beer Mondays?!?! I'm so there!!!

WISH I COULD GIVE IT 100 STARS. We will drive 1.5 hours in traffic just to eat all you can eat sushi bar here. Need I say more! Its so way worth it! Its amazing, quality, price, all you can eat! Nothing compares to Sushi Shiro. Sushi Shiro sets the bar for all you can eat sushi~

On business in Upland from San Diego I stumbled into Sushi Shiro. Comparing all sushi restaurants to Tokyo(real Japanese sushi) Sushi Shiro is the closest to being back in Japan, an beats anything in San Diego hands down. The freshness and quality were fantastic. Meng (Mngr/server) was great which made my experience even better. I will be going out of my way for more, I suggest you all do the same.

  • Tracy S.

Went here last night...from the outside looking in...looks promising. Staff unprofessional...the chef was drinking with a very drunk and disruptive group of men. Purchased cold sake that was not priced and found out on the bill it was 19 bucks....not pleased and felt duped. Sushi wasn't bad but overall experience was not at all pleasurable.

  • Dominic A.

Ordered rainbow rolls to go. Top notch. Fresh. Tasty. Sizeable. Quality-and i mean quality to the point of rolls being drenched in caviar-quality, not to mention the sweet soy? Sauce that is given on the side. On the other hand it was a little bit on the expensive side, especially with no complimentary salads or soup, which is not uncommon for restaurants where not many order out. Bottom line: excelleny sushi, but it better be after what i paid. Eat in and enjoy with friends and fam.

    (4)
  • David L.

Great place, the rolls are always great. The halibut and salmon sushi/sashimi tastes fresh and always hits the spot. You must also try the spicy sashimi bowl. You can never go wrong with the oysters here ($1 per oyster). To the above poster, if your giving bad reviews for the price go to restaurant.com and get a coupon...totally worth it.

Tried Sushi Shiro for the first time and here's my grade of this place: Service-A, Albacore-A+, YellowTail Belly-A+, Salmon Belly-A+, Baked mussels-B (To much Eal Sauce/fake crab), Baked lobster Roll-B (oversized california roll with baked or fried lobster chunks), Giant Red Clams-A+, Tuna-A, Salmon-A, Jalapeno Poppers-A+. $25 per person is a little much for this place but it is the best sushi place in Upland, Rancho, Ontario. I'll come back again for sure but just go for sushi and no specialty rolls. PS.. Ask for the special ponzu sauce with sesame seed *thumbs up*

Went here for ayce and when round 1 ended we never got the order list again. When asked why after 25 mins of them staring and me waiting he said he thought I was full. I was still waiting on 3 more orders! said forget this and left.

My husband surprised me on New Year's Eve, by bringing me to Sushi Shiro for All You Can Eat. The restaurant itself is quaint and cozy. It's not too big, but the tables are uncomfortably close together. When we got there, we were seated very quickly by the window; near a group of older folks who were talking loudly about sex. Yeah, that's enjoyable. They took our order for drinks and explained how the menu worked, as well as pointed out their All You Can Eat "rules". I've never been to a place that had rules for their AYCE. To sum it up: You had to eat smart, order 1 plate at a time, can't share, and can't leave any leftovers. Their sushi is easily some of the best I've had. Presentation is amazing, taste is fantastic and the portion size is hefty. I'd definitely recommend this place on the sushi alone. By the time we were done, we couldn't even breathe. I actually had to ask the waitress if we had to finish the last 3 pieces of sushi on our plate - because both my husband and I could not bring ourselves to eating them. She smiled and said it was alright and explained how the extra charge would only apply if an entire plate was left. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars, is simply based on the fact that it was really expensive. $25 per person on the All You Can Eat sushi is pricey. Great food, but pricey.

  • Julie C.

First time here - food was decent but the service stunk. Around 50 customers (full dining room) with 2 servers - not good. I have been waiting for over 10 minutes since I asked for my bill. Will NOT be returning.

Been coming here since it opened and have tried several different places but none have measured up to Sushi Shiro. LOVE their baked salmon roll, rainbow roll, pepper salmon tataki...if you prefer cooked rolls, their crazy boy roll is a must! Oh and for dessert, be sure to have some fried ice cream, it won't disappoint. I'm getting hungry just writing this ;-) Service is great too.

I was recommended to Sushi Shiro from a friend and decided to go. After being disappointed multiple multiple times regarding AYCE sushi locations in SoCal, i was told this place had decent All you can Eat sushi for $25. Thus I decided to give it a try, however with little expectation. Maybe that is also why i was pleasantly surprised with what i had. I am a sushi snob, and am extremely picky about sushi. Of course, considering any AYCE sushi place, i lower my standards and am rather lax with the criteria on which i judge, yet time and time again i am still disappointed. Upon entering the restaurant, the layout and atmosphere was very clean and nice. Tables were clean, decor was relatively classy, and plating and presentation was good for the dishes. I usually avoid any type of rolls at any sushi place, as i go there for the sashimi instead of the rice and cheap fillers. First glance at the menu, i immediately noticed the large choices. There were the nigiri, rolls, hand rolls, as well as small appetizers. I ordered the nigiri, and they came with minimal rice, which was a definite plus. And even the rice was cooked with attention, rather than the cheaply prepared large chunks of rice you usually seen in 90% of he AYCE style sushi. The fish quality was average or above average, but what won me over were the hand rolls and the creative rolls. The house salad was good with the asian taste, the hand rolls were filled with what you actually order rather than rice. The creative rolls also had generous ratio of sashimi. I give the place 4 stars, as by far it is the most appealing AYCE sushi place i have had up to date. The quality, presentation, and taste are all winners. The one place for complaint, all the expensive (and also my favorite items) were not present on the AYCE menu, namely Uni (sea urchin), Ikura (salmon roe), and Amaebi 9sweet shrimp). With that factor aside i really enjoyed my meal for $25 a head. Though it isn't exactly close to me (21 miles) i would definitely return.

I haven't been to very many AYCE sushi places, but this has set the bar VERY high. I LOVE sushi and this place was great. Everything was so tasty. I went with the AYCE option and I was definitely satiated after the entire experience. I think I had about 30 pieces and I couldn't breathe. Gluttony was definitely present, but it was just THAT good. The place is clean .. the lighting outside was a little dark though I must say. When we first pulled up I thought it was closed. The workers were nice, but I guess that's a little biased because my cousins that I went with know the owners. Either way it was an enjoyable experience and have been recommending this place to all my friends !!

  • Paul H.

Holy crap this place was way better than I expected for an all you can eat place! The sushi here is actually very good quality!! Everything was really fresh and really delicious. I'm definitely coming here again. NOTE: I didn't get very many rolls; mostly the nigiri sushi. Also I went to a really bad AYCE sushi place in Whittier/La Habra called Joe's Sushi a few weeks before so I was expecting to be to be disappointed again.

Where should I begin? Sushi Shiro is the best place I've found in my little corner of the Inland Empire. Service is spot on. The place is huge with enough room to service about 80 people. It is rarely packed (which means fast and attentive service is easy to find) and they even have a terrace with outdoor tables. Inside features include a private dining hall for special parties, and even features a fireplace. The decor is modern and classy, and feels that much more special as they use table cloths on their tables. The quality of the sushi is the best I have experienced. Always a perfect example of the 3 "T's" (Taste, Temperature, Texture) and fresh as can be. Prices fall between "moderate to spendy" depending on how you decide to order. The menu is fat with great selections and I have never been disappointed in quality of food, or service in the last 12 visits I have had to this place in the last 6 months. Sushi Shiro even offers their menu as an All You Can Eat for $25 per person. The kids price on all you can eat is half of that at $12.50. You can order as much as you would like so long as you eat it. Some of my personal favorites from the menu are: Hot Green Tea Jalapeno Poppers Steamed Green Mussels Ai Roll - Buttery in it's taste this roll features a simple combination of salmon and avocado in a seaweed wrap. Mountain Roll - A new discovery for me, this roll features big potions of tuna in the middle with a salmon wrap across 2/3 of the outside, if that weren't enough they bake it to perfection. Amazing flavor! Golden Dragon Roll - A California Roll base with thick cuts of fresh salmon on top and a sprinkling of roe. Crazy Boy Roll - a deep fried roll that often makes me think of what a good crab cake ought to taste like. Salmon Belly Nigiri - Thick cuts of salmon sashimi over a small finger of rice. Amber Jack Nigiri - Thick cuts of tuna sashimi over a small finger of rice. I have tried over 60% of their menu. It is all good! :) This place is great for family gatherings, a quite date, a guys/girls night out, or even just dining alone. Sushi appears to be my kryptonite, I would highly recommend this place if your in the area, it is highly unlikely that you'll be disappointed. Last but not least, you may want to save room for dessert. They have a nice selection of mochi ice creams!

Service: The servers were okay. They seemed a little frantic. They didn't come by the table often to check if everything was okay. But they were friendly. Value: I ate all you can eat for $25. It was definitely worth it! (If you eat a couple of rolls.) Food: Food was delicious. The only problem I had with the all you can eat menu, was they had a few appetizers but no chicken/ beef teriyaki, etc. The rolls were fantastic. They were normal sized rolls (unlike other all you can eat sushi, when they give you smaller portions). I will definitely eat here again.

Went one night for the AYCE. Fantastic sushi, good rolls and maybe the best unagi I've ever had. Ate way too much and definitely got my money's worth. The service was quick and responsive throughout, even as we approached the 2 hour cut off :)

  • Megan J.

I love this place. This is likely my favorite AYCE sushi place. The crazy boy rolls are good and the spicy dragon roll is my favorite. I love their Miso soup (i know it's just Miso but it has a good flavor). the wasabi and ginger have a better flavor here too! I like to order more adventurously than my husband does so this works well for us! Oh yeah you can also order appetizers, salad, udon noodles and some chicken and beef entrees on the all you can eat as well!

This place isn't great. I ordered the tiger roll, it has some orange fish eggs on top of it, it was warm, (yeah, that's what she said). Service was okay, I am giving it two stars because the taste and serving sizes weren't good, it also looks old and very dated.

  • Jerald S.

I'm sayin it's a 3.75. Some stand outs to me was that summer roll, salmon belly sushi, yellowtail belly sushi, baked lobster roll, and the BSCR roll. That's all i can really remember. The salmon belly was absolutely my favorite as it definitely had a different texture and taste as opposed to the normal salmon sushi. The BSCR and Baked Lobster roll had a huge serving of seafood portions which is definitely not a bad thing. The service here was really fast but it might have been due to it not really being crowded during lunch hours. They do put a lot of rice on there rolls and sushi which is something im really picky about. Another negative to the place is the price $25 for lunch and dinner is a little pricey to me considering others charge $17 for lunch and $21 for dinner. I do still see myself coming back here due to there great tasting cuts of fish, but it definitely won't be frequent.

Best sushi ever! Not to mention the incredible and friendly staff. My husband has been coming here for years and years. Once he introduced me to it, I was ruined for sushi anywhere else! It is so fresh, the rice is beyond anywhere else I've tried and the atmosphere is great. Sit at the bar and talk to the guys, they rock!

UGH Sushi Shiro. You are my ultimate weakness. Your 30% off lunch special is the best. I always end up pigging out and the bill is still less than what I expect, all the time :) And the server is so nice and friendly :))

I have to agree with the other negative reviewers. The place was virtually empty (not a good sign) and the sushi was not great. We ordered a nigiri appetizer; when served, the slices were warm and smelled. Also not a good sign. We also ordered two rolls, both of which had way too much crab salad inside. I guess I'm still bitter that they took over after Cafe Provencal closed. But still, neither I nor my guest were impressed and we probably won't return.

I have found my new favorite sushi spot. Fish is all fresh and delicious. Get the luxury salmon it melts in your mouth. There cocktails are pretty tasty as well. Very happy with service food and it's a good price. Try sushi shiro and u will definitely be back for more!!!! Two thumbs up!

When it comes to sushi, this is as good as it gets in the IE. Not gonna find your typical overpriced trendy joint here. Shiro is just good food, good people, BIG portions. Tuna rolls are half dollar sized with about a pound of tuna. The rolls are over a foot long. Hot. Fresh. All you can eat includes everything on the menu except stir fry. Busy on holidays, best in the afternoon. Seriously skilled sushi chefs are willing to experiment and are always concocting crazy new twists on classic rolls. Dinner time regulars are fun. Don't be surprised if the guy next to you buys you a shot of whiskey! The best waiter there is Ming, try to get his section. Just go there. $25 bucks are person and you'll be loving life.

For an all you can eat, it's pretty good. I enjoyed the rolls a lot more than Midori's all you can eat sushi. The only annoying thing is that it's closed on Sundays but other than that I'd definitely go back there.

I've just had this yesterday. If the all you can eat was a few dollars cheaper instead of 25$ I'd give it a 5-star rating. They have a lot of different rolls to choose from. But what was awesome was that with their sushi pieces, they didn't have a heavy portion of rice. It was actually quite small so I can enjoy their fish. The presentation was awesome and had unique appetizers like the ninja star which was pretty good.

All-you-can eat sushi was very cheap, especially for all that they offer (nigiri, hand rolls, appetizers, specialty rolls, etc.) Nigiri was on point, very little rice with a huge piece of fish or whatever topping! My nephew ordered the teriyaki chicken kids meal and it was portioned for an adult! It came with teriyaki chicken, rice, two gyoza pieces and a salad. HOWEVER, service was very slow from the sushi bar. Their a/c was broken the day we went so warm atmosphere + sushi = ?? iffy. Will probably go again if i'm ever in the area though, because i'm a poor college student! =]

Sashimi is fresh, no Ono though :( Nigiri is smaller than usual (but hey what does it matter, it's AYCE)... but really good, and they have a good rice ratio. Good/fun selection of rolls. Not stingy with toppings or sauce... but they don't drown the roll in sauce either. Overall one of my favorite AYCE sushi.

Very good All You Can Eat! I read other reviews because we are in town doing a local job and want to eat great food when traveling. We travel all over the USA working, I am very picky about everything and this place did not let me down, great service. The sashimi was great and the jalepeno poppers were so tasty! All for $25. Very good value. I will definately keep this place on my list of places to return to when back in town again.

Atmosphere: semi dark, open, lots of tables outside facing Foothill blvd., and inside. Food: decent with items like nabeyaki udon, teriyaki, sushi, salads, & appetizers It was empty when we went. There were 2 other customers there. The sushi was o.k. I heard the waitstaff and sushi chefs speaking in Korean, they stared at us but didn't talk to us. The staff wasn't too friendly. We won't go back. Once they work on the social skills, I think it could be a more pleasant place because the food is decent--not great, but decent.

Eh. That is literally the nicest word I can think of to describe this rundown little 'sushi' place. First, the servers looked lost and bored, I might as well have sat myself down....oh wait, i did. Basically he carried the menu. Once we sat down they disappeared for about 15 mins before we were able to order some drinks. Doesn't sound bad except there were only like 6 ppl in the restaurant besides us. We ordered some hand rolls which were the only thing we actually enjoyed. The hubby got a $25 steak plate and i got a $12 teriyaki beef plate, sadly the meat tasted the same, which was not very tasty at all. The meat was tough and plain and obviously not marinated. For $25 we expected it to taste great. If im willing to spend that kind of money you better put some effort in. I have been to cheaper places with better quality. Service was crappy, food was mediocre. If your going to eat good sushi and not spend a fortune and want great service go elsewhere.

I know that they changed owners at the end of 2008 or beginning of 2009 so if you haven't been back because of a bad experience, you should definitely give Sushi Shiro another try! I will not eat at another sushi place! Their albacore is always amazing along with their yellow tail. If you're looking to not spend too much money, I suggest paying for all you can eat sushi. It's $25 and if you love sushi as much as I do, that's a great deal for the quality they serve. I have never had a bad experience at Sushi Shiro, even when the previous owners were there. I love my Sushi Shiro!!!

Had the three amigos, get to choose 3 1/2 rolls,,,,,kind of nice get to try a little of each. Fish was fresh, sauces good. Service very good. Had an entertainment coupon, will go back. Favorite place is rumble fish in Montclair , but this is very good also.

We love this place - it's clean and the food is really safe. We don't do the "all you can eat" because it's too much stress (too many rules and you don't get to choose from the whole menu). The staff is great, and really friendly. We can get our 3 favorite rolls, drinks and deserts for less than $50. Not cheap - but not that bad either!

  • Kevin P.

Its surprisingly tasty for an all you can eat spot. they have endless types of rolls with all different kinds of fish, and they have photos to display each one. they have all the main types of sushi u want, as well as other items like salad and udon on the AYCE list as well. the quality was actually very good and they dont load up on the rice to fill ur stomach up. sometimes it takes a little while for the food to come out, especially if there are a lot of customers, but it is certainly worth the wait. just order a lot for the first round! very recommendable restaurant for AYCE.

There are tons of sushi joints between Upland and Rancho Cucamonga but Sushi Shiro is by far the best. My wife and I have tried most if not all the sushi restaurants in the area and we like to check out new ones that open up (which has been often) but usually end up being disappointed. All you can eat sushi here is about $5 more than the average place but the price is well worth it. The sushi is delicious and the meat to rice ratio is very generous. Most "all you can eat" sushi restaurants feels more like "all you can eat rice" but Sushi Shiro is a rare exception. The sushi is fresh and the presentation is always satisfying. The amount of sushi and appetizers available is amazing, this place is a great deal! The service is excellent, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Sushi Shiro is highly recommended.

usually look at yelp review but never write one but this restaurant made me open an account to express my thought. We were driving on Foothill and saw Shiro with lot of cars outside so we thought this might be good. It ended up there was a big party there and not much people other than that. I'm pretty forgiving on food and taste but I got to say their Chirashi bowl (sashimi over rice) is probably the worst jap food I ever ate. The sashimi size is relatively larger than typical but there is just absolutely no taste of any kind on these fish. I felt like I am chewing on some meat without any taste. The texture is there but I don't know why the taste is absent. I'm just so disappointing at the end that I want to give up on the rest of sashimi. Actually the rice is a little sweet and I found it more attractive than the sashimi. Maybe they mess up that order. I don't know but Sorry I am not going back there to spend $18 on some tasteless meat.

Good, fresh hamachi sashimi, and high quality tuna. Had an eel roll which also tasted very fresh. The sushi chefs are lively and make for a fun eating atmosphere. Probably some of the better sushi you will find this far east of the ocean

Hello fellow yelpers! I have been reading reviews for a while now, however I haven't written any myself until now. Because....Sushi Shiro is so worth it! You have to check it out! Yummy! Took my hubby out for a date here last weekend. We sat at the sushi bar and had albacore tuna (fave), fantastic roll (I think it was the Steve roll), and the green mussels! So good...we can't wait to get back there and this time we'll do the AYCE. Oh, almost forgot to mention. Orion beer! That comes from my hometown, Okinawa, can't get that many places. What a treat!

From the looks of the reviews the jury seems to have already arranged the sentence on this place. But if you're reading this, maybe I can help give some incite to this place. I'm not a frequent customer, I've only been here once. So i'm in a similar boat and this is what I would have liked to hear upon entering this place. I sat down a late afternoon 2pm, midweek, cause I was in the area and felt like sushi. Didn't want to burn a hole in my wallet but also wanted to test the place out. Unfortunately the nigiri/sashimi prices were a bit steep for lunch, ~4 dollars pair of nigiri, ~8 for sashimi. From what I know, the prices aren't outrageous, but without knowing the quality and on a lunch budget, its more than I can risk of a piece of bad fish. Wanted to make sure I left full so I enjoyed a lunch bento box of 9 bucks. Gyoza, Cali Rolls, Teriyaki Chicken, Salad, Rice. Nothing special... maybe below average. Teriyaki was okay, but the chicken left you wanting more. A bit dry. Salad had a weird dressing on it. Then came the fish. Was pretty full from the bento but I came determined to check the quality, so I went safe with a 8 dollar order of salmon sashimi. Said 5 pieces, bleh. I got 7 when the chef served it. Though he placed it on lemon slices which screwed up the flavor and the overall quality was bland. --- keep reading. yeah well, here's why I'm giving this review. Not to bash this place, but to support... or at least give it a fair twist. As he was making my salmon I asked him what he recommended. He told me the albacore. I've had albacore before on many occasions. The first time I had it, I loved it... but it was far from home and could never find another piece to second that. Everything else disappointed... not sure if its the quality of fish or the sauce or the combination of the two. I had considered trying it here earlier in the meal but hesitate in the case that I'd love it here and not be able to satisfy that desire once again cause its out of my way. Sooo... he recommended it. I had to try it. I loved it. sigh. I had a serving a below average fish and a serving a good fish. Which is common in many middle of the road sushi places. Now why this place is probably still open. AYCE sushi. Quality seems above the average AYCE place (at least from what they recommend). If you want to come here... the rolls seem plentiful in selection and for the fish just listen to the chefs, they know what's good. I'd say its worth trying once. If I was near by I'd try the AYCE. If it doesn't meet your standard, then go visit the dozens of other places on Route 66. BTW, tell me if the albacore is still good =P

My girlfriend and I again found out this place through Yelp. AYCE was up there in price but it is expected. 2 HOUR time limit which of course is more than enough time, if it were 1 HOUR like other places it would be 3 instead of 4 stars. Fast friendly service, BEST nigiri I've had, try the yellow tail, and big selection of rolls but mostly tempura, baked, or deep fried. If you can tell through my other reviews I prefer "fresh" rolls. Don't get any of their rolls with cream cheese, tasted like it has been sitting in the fridge, so I felt a little sick, good thing I finished with the yellow tail cause that helped a lot. Later during the meal we were offered half rolls which was VERY cool and considerate. Shiro had their own building which could clearly fit big parties. I usually don't critique buildings and locations but if you have a celebration or big groups this place would be good for you!

John is a good man to know here. The all you can eat deal is hard to beat. All the sushi is rolled to order and they will continue to serve you until you are STUFFED! I would suggest the eel along with the dragon roll. All is good. Just can't give 5 stars because I think $25 is slightly high. I still visit this place bi-weekly.

    (4)
  • Mack S.

The portions were too small, EVEN FOR SUSHI. I have gone almost every sushi place in Upland/Claremont/Lavern and this place is not on my top 10. We went on a weekend night and even though the restaurant was fairly empty the service could have been better. The patio area seems nice.

  • Lara S.

My boyfriend and I wanted to do a low-key (ie inexpensive) V-Day, and we happened to have a coupon to Sushi Shiro. BIG MISTAKE. It was pretty packed, which I had thought was a good sign. When they sat us down (at a table covered in soy-sauce - then they were annoyed when we asked to be moved) they said things were "moving slowly". That was an understatement! Not only was the service slow, but the 3 sushi chefs behind the counter were doing nothing. We received about 1/4 of our order, and then given the bill. When we said something, they offered to make us whatever else we wanted, but by that time we had realized the sushi was terrible. Like the other reviewers, I was unimpressed by the weird sushi creations that were more sauce than fish (probably to hide the fact that the fish was BAD). It was VERY obvious when I ordered sashimi that the fish was not good - smelly, gooey, all around gross. To top off the night both my boyfriend and I got violently ill for 24-hours after eating here. DO NOT GO HERE. If you are looking for all-you-can-eat sushi with very nice, attentive service and fresh fish try Sho Sushi, down the street.

  • Brittany C.

It was really good, the restaurant was clean and we were sat immediately. We had a large party of 8 and our food was amazing. We ordered a few different rolls and hand rolls and they were all fresh tasting and very good. The jalapeño poppers were very delicious. Also if you order three items off a certain menu the sushi is half off. Our bill for 8 people was only $125.00 after the tip. That includes a child's dinner and two orders to go too. Very good and worth the money. Service is very good as well. Very friendly and fast

  • Bri S.

Hit or miss. Either it's great, or the fish tastes fishy...not in a good way. They have a B health rating, but I've never felt bad after eating there. This place isn't great, but it's not terrible. Pros: Friendly staff, delicious salad, good fish-to-rice ratio Cons: Inconsistent quality, lots of "crab" rolls on AYCE

    (3)
  • Danmo H.

My girly friend really likes this place, but I must admit I was a little hesitant especially with the "B" rating posted in the window. However, I live to tell that the sushi was delicious and no health problemos. Maybe the Japanese Martinis helped kill off any bad stuff? I don't know, but I would definitely go back. I will raise the stars if they can get their "A" rating back, and if their service improves a tad. One of our servers, although very nice, was a bit hurried -- she kept running off before we were finished talking with her. She also didn't know what a Yuzu martini was when we asked (turns out it's a Japanese citrus fruit). There might have been a language barrier. Nevertheless, Hot Dang! Those Martinis were excellent! We had Lychee and Yuzu. Lychee was very sweet and the Yuzu was tangy. My favorite was the Yuzu, but my friend said it had a medicinal taste to it. Ok, I'll take that medicine any day! And of course, sushi was great. We shared three rolls--Shiro, Crunchy Dragon, and something else, oops! I can't remember! Early onset dementia or the Martinis . . .

Our 1st time here, specialty rolls: after u order 3 theyre half off so its great. We ordered vegas, philadelphia and baked scallop roll. All yum, we all ate mixed tempura $5. That was delish, great customer service, fresh food. Definitely our new sushi spot!

    (4)
  • Jessy M.

Sometimes, the service can be pretty slow, but going with the right company and getting exactly what you wanted to fulfill those sushi cravings totally makes up for it. I love the food and there's no better deal when it comes to multiple rolls.

I had the salmon egg sushi roll for the first time today It was so good! Delicious Fresh Sushi! this is the place my family and I always get together. The employees are super nice and accommodating.

  • Pauline T.

The food is good! The special is 50% sushi rolls on orders with 3 or more rolls. This makes rolls between $5-10 dollars each. It is a hit or miss with the staff. Some are great and some won't check on you until you're done with your meal. The chefs are great though! If you sit at the bar, the chefs will hand you your orders so you don't have to wait for the waiters (a definite plus if they are busy, which is most of the time). Favorite roll: CRAZY BOY

    (4)
  • Mi Ra P.

I used to love this place when they had order to make all you can eat deal. Even after they only do 50% off on sushi, sashimi and rolls, I still like it. However, I still think all you can eat was the best deal for me!! The service and wait staffs were excellent!!

Good price, good food, good service. Our local go to sushi joint. 50% off makes this place great.

  • Austin A.

This place is absolutely amazing, and we're sushi snobs. They do not short you on fish at all, and it's all super high quality. If you get more than 3 things, it's 50% ALL THE TIME! What?! Sooooooo awesome.

    (5)
  • Nick O.

I come here once or twice a month because of the awesome 1/2 off sushi and $2 beer specials. Most of the time, it's pretty solid; however, the wait staff tends to get impatient and a bit inattentive when it's busy. I would still recommend shiro as one of the top sushi spots in upland.

    (4)
  • Eunice L.

The food here is yummy! The offer 50% sushi rolls if you order 3 or more. I live near here, thus usually come for dinner. One time, a korean waiter was so rude after we waited for 40 mins. Just hope, will not see him any more in future dinner~

  • Steve P.

Our 1st time here and we will never be back. 1st impression is all. Walls dirty, sticky floors and fruit flies around us towards the end of our time there. Sushi not bad but definitely not the best. Yelp got it all wrong with 4 star rating. Owner needs to take a look at his restaurant, take more pride in the place. I know I would. Menus are dirty and place is not inviting. Music completely out dated and boring. Patio broken and tv and SD. And yelp did not mention the B rating from the county of health inspector. Yes, no thanks. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

    (1)
  • Ray C.

The last couple visits service sucks and the food is warm. Place is dirty as well. Didn't see the "B" rating others have talked about, but can attest that the place deserves it. Guess the cost of a $2.00 beer has just gone up.

This is a Vegetarian Review, as I don't eat seafood... They have a nice open waiting area outside, but we came for lunch so it wasn't as busy as I bet dinner would be. Looking at the menu I got the two rolls below, and both were great! (5 stars) Vegetable Roll (5 stars) Veggie Tempura Roll Both Veggie rolls were different than the normal veggie rolls I get at other sushi restaurants, so I was very happy to have a different flavor with each of them! And they don't skimp out on the order, being as it is a vegetarian roll, it's not that filling, so more is better. Everyone else at my table liked their Sushi Rolls, such as the caterpillar roll, dragon roll, and others. Our waitress was very nice, helpful with suggestions, and quick with our requests. We even had a birthday at the table and she brought out ice cream for him with a candle, which was really nice. We will be back!

  • Latisha P.

Sushi is definitely good for the price! But didn't taste as fresh as I wanted. Still good, but nothing amazed me. After you order 3 rolls you get 50% off! Pretty awesome deal. I would definitely come here if you're hungry and want to try multiple rolls. But I've tried other sushi restaurants in the area that have better rolls if you're looking more for quality than quantity. FOOD: Baked Scallop Roll (3 stars): Scallops were over cooked and chewy. Roll underneath was good though. Caterpillar Roll (3.5 stars): Love the sweetness. Crazy Boy (3 stars): A fried roll, but it was not overly filling with the fried stuff which was good. To plain for me though, needed something else to balance it out. Shiro Roll (3.5 stars): Good roll to get if you want more fish in it. The rolls looked better than they tasted. SERVICE (5 stars): Our lady helping us was really nice. Forgot to put one of our roll orders in but she put it in after we told her. Brought out green tea ice cream for my nephew for his birthday :) No candle though so bring your own if you have a celebration here! PARKING: In a big shopping area so parking is easy. ATMOSPHERE: Pretty big sushi restaurant with a covered patio area outside. Good for groups, lots of space.

Delicious, fresh and great prices! $2 draft beers and 50% off the menu if you get at least 3 items, very easy to do! Sometimes the wait is a bit too long but overall it's great quality for great prices!

  • Gia V.

Always my only choice for sushi if I'm within a 30 mile radius. I've been coming here for about three years and I've literally never had anything less than the freshest, most delicious sushi. The sushi here tastes fresh out of the ocean, it's buy 3 of any sushi item or roll (mix and match) and everything becomes half off, the chefs are impeccable and always willing to special custom my rolls since I can't eat fake crab and $2 sapporos! Huge pieces of premium fish, little rice, tons of veggies, friendly staff and unbeatable prices any day of the week. This is why I refuse to go anywhere else, nothing compares.

  • Cathy B.

The tempura calimari was not tempura coated, it was like frozen fish breading. And I am certain it was frozen and not sure it was calimari. The so called salad was the cabbage filler you would get in any cheap Chinese restaurant with you chow mein and it was served warm. The miso soup was ok for a package soup. Instead of tempura sauce they served the dish with ranch dressing. Once they dropped off my food, they never returned. I had to ask for the check. I should have turned around and left when I first walked in and the air was not on and it's over 90 outside. And to top it off as I was leaving I noticed its rating-"B"! Yuck. Never eating here again.

Just moved to the IE and was a bit skeptical about being able to find a good sushi restaurant out here. But this place has super fresh fish and a good choice of rolls. Their specials are amazing and only $2 dollar Saporro's. I'd definitely recommend this place for the quality of food and amazing service!!!

  • Kate G.

These guys are unique. For what they have, they are good. Excellent oysters, cheap beer and cheap sushi. Some servers excel, others are terrible. Sitting at the bar is almost the same as a table, you order from a server but receive your food from the chef. So far this is the best sushi I have found in the Inland Empire, especially for the price. If you want some of the best sushi in your life but can't make it to Japan, visit Koi in Seal Beach or Sushi-Gen in Downtown Los Angeles.

Yelps 365 Review Challenge 2014 - Los Angeles #49 - #365 The sushi spot was just ok. I was trying out different sushi places around my area and Sushi Shiro showed up on the Yelp list with average reviews. So I decided to try it out with an open mind. They have an unused outdoor patio facing Foothill Blvd and the entrance was dimly lit, so it was a little hard find out where to enter. Staff was attentive when I walked in and glad I came just before it got crowded. They have a teppanyaki grill, dining area and a sushi bar. Fresh fish line up the display case in the sushi bar and they had some good deals going on. Originally, I came for the AYCE sushi dinner, than I found out they discontinued it and offered a discounted menu. The food here overall was average, not excellent compared to my usual Ken's in Rancho. Service was average as well, it took a while for them to refill my drink and the waitress looked as if she was running back and forth when it got busy. I would come back just to give them another try and try my items on the menu or opt for the grill. It was a nice change of scenery from my usual sushi spot.

This place was THE BEST sushi I've ever had! The baked salmon roll was amazing!!! And, it's ALWAYS 50% off, so don't be scared when you see the pricing.

This place as a special where the rolls become 50% off if you order 3 or more. Best part about this special is that there is no "only between 3pm - 5pm." This 50% off special is always on so it is always great! Me and my wife have been coming here very often and this is definitely our first choice when it comes to sushi. Only bad things about this place is that they give the servings of wasabi / ginger 1 per table rather than 1 per person, so if you want more you're going to have to ask. Also they don't seem to use caviar, at least not in any of the rolls I've ordered, so if you like those little orange balls, you won't see them here.

Such a great deal for amazing quality food! Got 2 specialty rolls, 2 hand rolls, 1 crunchy roll, large hot sake, and 4 Sapporo drafts for under $40. AMAZING! All the sushi was fresh and the quantity of fish they give you is very generous. If you order 3 + rolls you get 50% off your food bill, which is fantastic, especially since the special runs all day. Also, $1 oysters if you're into that. Service was very attentive and polite, even on a busy Friday night at 7. I would definitely recommend!

I used to really enjoy coming to Sushi Shiro for the great service and the ambiance. I came back recently and discovered that they were having promotions and making the prices cheaper... but it really reflects upon the quality of what I'm getting... The service was lacking, the place was crowded and hectic, and the sushi was not fresh. I came here on Friday night for my cousin's birthday. We called in ahead of time for a party of 9. 5 of us arrived early and asked for water to come back. Then 4 more came... SOMEHOW the waitress brings out 4 waters... I would understand if she brought 5, but why four.. then she brings 4 more... ahem... it's 9.. not 8 -_- I was immediately unhappy with the service. We ordered a handful of items... and I'll admit it came out fast... but let me point out the memorable parts: Oysters -- My first oyster was very grainy. They need to learn how to shuck or learn how to clean these oysters better. And on my second oyster, it was so UN FRESH!! I stopped eating the oysters... no need to damage my taste buds Mussels -- okay. Salmon belly Sashimi -- unevenly cut. There was a roll (I forgot the name), like a lobster roll or something.. It was a california roll base with little crawfish on top and baked... GROSS!! I could tell immediately the crawfish was not fresh... Salmon Skin Roll -- delicious!! Caterpillar Roll -- acceptable Green tea ice cream -- too sweet. Definitely not the same one as they had back then. What pisses me off the most is that I asked the waitress for the bill first, and she gives it to my cousin... WTFFFFFFF!!! ~~ 18% gratuity on party of 8+ (even on separate checks).

Probably the best yellowtail I've had in a long time. The rolls were delicious and original, the beer was reasonably priced, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be coming back!

Brought my boyfriend for a birthday dinner. I thought it was going to be our new favorite sushi spot (based on the ratings and reviews) ,but Wasn't as great as I expected. Although the service was okay I Wouldn't come back.

I have been here a few times since I moved into the area and have never been disappointed .. The tempura udon and crunch roll are great! Friendly servers and you don't have to wait long for your order..

I was craving shrimp tempura rolls and the place i always go to is close on sundays so i found this place here on yelp and it had good reviews so, decided to try it. i order to go and the first problem i found when i open my bag was that they didn't give me wasabi, ugh i just can't enjoy my rolls without wasabi. the rolls tasted so much like mayo and the nori sheet was so chewy almost like gum, so weird! anyway they didn't taste that great and thats why i gave it 2 stars. my husband ordered salmon belly fat sashimi and ya ya rolls but hasn't eaten them so i don't know how that was. never going there again!

Decided to give this place a try given the 50% off deal. I didn't see any sign that indicated that rule so I was a little scared to order food but I had read another yelp review stating that I shouldnt be afraid to order because it's a constant thing. The sushi was ok, I kind of found that a lot of the sushi we had ordered ended up just being another version of a California Roll--for instance, the Hawaiian Roll was a California Roll with Ahi Tuna laid on top, the Baked Salmon Roll was a California Roll with Baked Salmon on top and a small block of cream cheese in the middle. The only thing I didn't like was that I didnt get very much variation in flavor (which might have been our fault but then again not all the ingredients are listed in the menu, some of it is cut off or just says the name of the sushi). The other thing was that I didn't like the cold/hot temperatures. For instance, the Baked Salmon roll had warm sushi on top and a cold block of cream cheese in the middle. The Baby Lobster roll plate had hot lobster on top and cold sushi underneath so that kind of threw my palette off. Overall I would say for the price, its a good place. I'm usually used to go to Sushi Martini, but the AYCE is a little pricey. At Sushi Shiro we ordered 5 rolls and our total came out to $30. Go for the price!

Ok went here with my girl friend for the first time after reviewing it on Yelp and was really impressed with the quality of the sushi and the $2 Saporo. Draft beers. The yeloowtail bellie and the salmon just melted in my mouth. They dont offer AYCE but they do have 50 % off of 3 rolls which comes out to about 6 or 7 dollars a roll so worth it.I will go be going. Again soon!!

  • James L.

They have a great 50% off deal which can save you money compared to an all you can eat sushi place. The thing that makes this place stand out though is the quality sushi they make. It is noticeably better than all you can eat sushi. The only cons are that it may take a while to be seated, and they are sometimes out of certain fish.

    (4)
  • Richard D.

Not bad, try it! It is not that authentic but in case you feel you want some new taste of sushi, you can come over and have fun. I like coming here from one time to another, and have good times with my friends.

  • Adriana M.

This place is pretty good for how affordable it is. They have great portions and everything tastes good and is presented beautifully. The staff is attentive and we've never had to wait because there's a lot of seating and lots of servers. This is our 3rd time here. Had a hand roll with soy and spicy tuna, popcorn lobster and albacore sushi. All great

I came here for lunch today with a craving for sushi so my friends and I decided to check out Sushi Shiro. I tried the Baked Salmon Roll which was a combination of warm and soft cream cheese and avocado wrapped in baked salmon and covered in a garlic mayo sauce which added a good amount of flavor with each bite. It was absolutely DELICIOUS! It came with a side order of miso soup which was very tasty. They have a wide menu selection and All You Can Eat option for $25.99 (which I'm definitely coming back with Corey L. to give this a try!). Also, they have a picture menu with descriptions of the sushi rolls, which is very helpful! During lunch hours they offer 30% off for meals (not All You Can Eat), which is pretty generous. We came a little after 12:30 and they weren't too busy. Service was quick and excellent, which is always an added plus! The location is kind of hidden..it is on Foothill between Mountain Ave and San Antonio across the street from a medical plaza. The thought of the baked salmon roll is making my stomach growl right now...I'm definitely going back again!

I can't really review this place since I didn't sit down for more than a minute. I just wanted any AYCE sushi fanatics to know that this place does not offer AYCE. I searched the comments and others said it did but when I asked the sushi chef at the bar he said only when you order 3 items do you get 50% off. What a waste of a drive and very misleading yelp reviews.

  • Molly E.

I have to be honest. I really love this place as a local sushi spot. The prices are more than fair (I have a friend who owned a sushi shop, so I know the price to make a roll), and the sushi is great. The staff is friendly and kind and I have never had complaints. The only reason it doesn't get the full 5 stars is because I have a friend who said she didn't get the freshest sushi and it made her and her friends sick one time. I am not sure what time of the day she went. Maybe early; I tend to go late. (She has never gone back). I however, have been over a dozen times and ever time it was a hit. The veggie rolls are great if you do not want fish. And they have enough variety for those who like their sea creatures cooked. (One time they ran out of yellowtail, which was saddening; only sad moment). All and all, you get a deal here that no one else is offering. Great sushi, great price, and great service.

I loved this place! My husband and I went for an early dinner today and John was extremely attentive! This place is dope, order any three or more sushi items on a specific menu (which was basically everything on the menu anyway) and get your entire bill discounted by 50%!!! You seriously can NOT beat that. My husband and I left extremely satisfied with our bellies full. We ordered a dragon roll, tiger roll, and rock star roll. All of the rolls were extremely tasty and fresh. We had a coke to drink, and each ordered a green tea ice cream for dessert. Full is an understatement! The green tea ice cream was so creamy and nice and sweet. Our bill was 30$! Seriously? 30$ for great sushi?! Ill take it ANY day. We will for sure be back!

Excellent service, $1 oysters, $2 beers and 50% off your bill if you order 3+ rolls... I don't think it can get any better than this!

Likes: Had the Trio combo which was a really good deal because you get four pieces of three different types of specialty sushi rolls. My combo included the dragon roll, mexican roll and rock star roll, all of which were delicious and juuuust right in terms of the amount. Lunchtime also has an awesome 30% off deal. Don't forget to grab a dumdum on the way out! Dislikes: Didn't really like the crunchy picked carrots in my sushi. It gave it a weird crunch that I could have done without.

Would come here when they had AYCE. They no longer offer it. All the Sushi is really fresh and tasty. The chefs would make what you like. They made a really tasty cucumber drink but only upon request.

My friend and I were craving sushi, we were planning on going to an all-you-can eat sushi place not too far from this place. However, the wait was 1 hour plus. We looked up other local spots and this one came up. I was a bit skeptical since it wasn't full on a Friday night. We were seated quickly, the server was friendly, and our food was prepared in a timely manner. I was impressed with the taste. The Vegas rolls are good!! The have a 50% off deal after you order three rolls. Nom nom. I'm happy. I can't wait to come here again

Good sushi. Got sat immediately on a Saturday during lunch time. Not to busy. Firing this time is when you buy 3 rolls you get them half off. Sounds great! But the rolls are priced significantly more so in the end you're paying the same. They forgot one of our rolls but brought it out fairly quickly. Waitress seemed a little off... like maybe she was really tired and/or her head was somewhere else. But over all, ok. Wouldn't go out of my way to go again but if it's there I'll go.

Candidly, I was surprised to read such negative reviews as (I am happy to report) my experience was the complete opposite! The restaurant itself was clean and the staff pleasant. All of the fish we had was extremely fresh, the service was good and the prices were great. I prefer raw sushi and most places drown their sushi with sweet syrupy sauce or a mayo based sauces that essentially masks or kills the flavor of the fish. Not here. Each item we ordered was perfectly composed and not doused with sauces that detracted from the fish. The kamikaze roll was flash fried but the fish inside remained raw...it was GREAT. The salmon sashimi in particular was FANTASTIC as was the pepper salmon, albacore, yellow tail and eel. Although the spicy tuna roll was my least favorite item (admittedly I am a tough customer when it comes to spicy tuna), it was still good. The "stupid squid" was a fun dish on skewers - it is $15 and not eligible for the special discount so be aware that specialty rolls are not included in the 50% off deal if you are trying to keep it on the cheap side. All washed down with $2 beers, will definitely be back :)

This is a great sushi place to try, especially if you were like me and had no idea which sushi place to go to because you're not from Upland :) The service was great, thanks to our server - totally forgot her name, but she's a small filipino girl. She's was very kind and made some great suggestions for our framily. Also, due to her urging, we ended up trying the deep fried ice cream and THANK GOODNESS we did because it was delish. The food came out quickly and the sushi rolls were delicious and fresh. The next time I pay a visit, I'd like to come back here. I think depending on when you go, they have some pretty good deals, too, so check it out!

I've been to a lot of Sushi places and this place rates in the very good category. I got a YaYa roll and Baby Lobster which were very good. Look for the daily specials as this day they had $2 beer! Ummmmm beer. Haha. Anyways they also have daily specials for buy two get one free which next time I'll come on that day.

By far the best sushi I've had in the area, with 50% off 3 rolls or more you can't find a better deal. Amazing green tea ice cream just like the reviews said. I also loved the atmosphere and music def the only place I will choose to go now for sushi!

BEST PRICES AND SUSHI IN TOWN! Half off sushi menu is so worth it. The fish taste fresh and cold! This place is always busy and on top of things! Sparkle is one of the waitresses who always gives you 110%! Jt was pretty cool too!! They offer $2 beers! 2 for 2$ that's cheap.!! They offer tap beers as well. The rock n' roll is always legit. The shiro roll is great too! I recommend this placd to anyone who wants to eat great sushi for a great price. We always leave full spending $50 w/ tip!

One of my favorite sushi spots around the area. Their Fish is always fresh and the price is great. I come here all the time for their sashimi and shiro roll! I was quite sad thAt they were no longer serving raw oysters (it's out of season)! Good price for great quality! I would highly recommend this place if you're around the area!

This place is fantastic! My wife and I decided to go out for sushi and stopped here for the first time. The ambiance is good, plenty of space, the service was amazing, the food was very good, and to top it all off the price is AMAZING! They offer a menu that gives you an opportunity to get 50% off your check. My wife and I are for $15! Oh, and don't forget about the green tea ice cream! I've missed this quality of ice cream from all the neighboring sushi bars. This place, overall, easily gets a 5 star rating from me. We will definitely be coming back here, and next time we'll bring more friends.

First time here and I was impressed. They have halibut nigiri! Their rolls were pretty good and raw fishes were fresh. $25.99 dinner AYCE and the AYCE menu had a lot of choices. The service was good. The place was too dark for me so much dark colors but clean.

  • Kelly J.

To start out this place doesn't let you wait inside, even though it's freezing outside. And while we were waiting half the restaurant was empty!! The bus boys and servers were in no rush to sit people! Never going back.

    (1)
  • Ryan A.

This place is excellent! It's no longer AYCE but the price comes out to be the same or less due to their half off special (order 3 or more items, get half off). The fish is of good quality. There are times where it can be better than others, but it's usually very good. It's not your fine dining quality but it's also not a hundred dollar meal. I've had both, there's a difference. That being said, I've sampled everything in the area, this is no doubt the best. Large cuts, classic roles without silly alterations and good service makes this place the finest in the area! Don't miss out.

I was bummed when they took out the all-you-can eat option at first, but this all turned around when they offered the half off deal after so many rolls of sushi. When I come to sushi with my friends, we get just as much as we used to without the fear of overeating or having to stuff our faces (read as: napkins) with sushi we couldn't finish. With this deal, we are able to get as much sushi as we want and take it to go if we can't finish it! Best of both worlds! My friends and I come back again and again because of the great sushi (definitely the best in the Inland Empire) and the welcoming environment. The servers always ask about my friends or parents when I come in and always recognize me. Sushi Shiro is a welcoming, very effective environment that offers a good sushi selection, although definitely not the best such I have ever had. Stay away from the fried sushi rolls and try to hit up the sashimi sushi. I recommend the fresh water eel and white tuna...yum!!

  • Elizabeth C.

I love this place. I've been going here since it opened 6 years ago. The service is good and the people remember you! It's a bigger sized restaurant for a Japanese place but it has a small cozy feel. The food is delish. The sushi is fresh and bought from the same place as the yummy places in LA. My favorite are the yellow tail, oyster shots, luxury salmon, and lettuce wraps. We live in diamond bar but the travel to this place is worth it. Haven't found another place that tastes this good.

This place is great!!!! You can't beat the prices here. Shrimp Tempura as an appetizer is an excellent choice. Recommend the jalapeño roll

  • Stacy T.

My boyfriend and I love, love, love this place. It's lowkey, and pretty big (I've never seen it full though). The chefs and waiters greet you as you come and go. Now to get to the good part...If you buy a minimum of 3 rolls, your entire bill is 50% off! So we get 3 delicious rolls that we can barely finish and end up paying a 20-ish dollar bill. Most of the rolls are a normal average of 14 bucks individually. CON: though they're nice, the servers can sometimes be inattentive at the wrong times. Also, for the sushi menu, not all of the rolls are pictured, so you have no idea what goes inside of them, but if you as a waiter, they'll happily tell you. These are tiny little cons, still 5 stars!! Try it! You will not regret it at all.

  • Janet T.

Great sushi place! What I love most about this is their miso soup is on point and the caterpillar & tiger roll are so big and delicious I always take some home to go . The oysters are usually fresh, some days more than others. And the 50% off deal definitely keeps me coming back. Good service overall, will be coming back soon.

  • Lori R.

This has really become our go-to sushi joint. The half off sushi rolls really makes this the most affordable around and the sushi is really good. My only complaint (and it's small) is that some of the rolls are really big and hard to eat. The service is good and so is the food. We'll continue to go back again and again.

    (4)
  • Karina C.

I have been coming here about a little over a year. My favorite roll is the rock and roll. It is wrapped in cucumber . Wich means no rice = less carbs. I would order off the half of menu because after three rolls everything is half off. This is great because I am not stuck just ordering one roll because im worried about cost like at other places where one roll can be up to $16.00. They use to have all you can eat but not anymore. But rhe half off makes up for it. My favorite thing is to go with a big group because I can try almost every roll. !!!! Love sushi.. its a must try and you get away from always trying to go to the Victoria gardens restaurants and wait over an hour for food.

  • Dolcesmom M.

A very enthusiastic 4 stars for sushi shiro. The prices are awesome! For 37 dollars we were able to purchase two apps, jalapeno poppers and gyoza plus 4 large sushi rolls, 1 beer and 1 glass of wine. Score, right. If you order 3 rolls you receive 50 percent off the menu. So a Philadelphia roll is 4.50, a rainbow roll 6.50. Yeah im definitely happy with that. Plus all of the fish tasted extremely fresh and cold. I hate lukewarm sushi. My favorite rolls of the night were the firecracker roll in first place, then the Mexican roll which has eel, and shrimp tempura in second place. I am definitely coming back again.

  • Angelique N.

First time here and we will definitely be back! My mom only likes cooked rolls so we had the baked salmon roll, mountain roll, baked baby lobster roll and volcano roll. Each one was so good that we couldn't pick a favorite. The rolls held together perfectly yet were tender enough to bite each piece in half to savor the flavor better. I also had an order each of yellowtail belly and salmon belly sushi. Firm, fresh and silky. Very tasty. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. Our server, JT, was a great guy. We had arrived around 6 and there were quite a few people there. By the time we left( with our box of leftovers for yummy lunch the next day), there were people waiting to be seated. I can't wait to bring my best friend!

In a nutshell: good sushi, fair prices, and great service. I had the salmon sashimi and a rainbow roll. The sushi was very fresh. Loved it. The service was fast and friendly. You need sushi? You in the area? Come to this place.

After living in San Jose for 2 years coming back to Shiro is a breath of fresh air. It is very difficult to find sushi this consistently good for such a low price. Fresh fish and generous portions seal the deal. If you like fish definitely get the sunshine roll, it's loaded with it. I cannot say it enough times, this place is amazing.

  • Karina E.

We Yelped sushi spots off the 10 freeway and came across this place which had the better ratings. Never been here before. They had "half off" the plastic menu which included the sushi rolls that we love and $2 tap Sapporo. The food was delicious, and great prices. For our baked lobster, salmon, philly roll, shrimp tempura and 2 draft beers we ended up with a $29 bill. And our server was fantastic. Sparkle I think her name was. Definitely will stop again next time we're passing through.

  • Eileen C.

Yes, this place is not AYCE. We too were lured here under the false impression of AYCE greed and were sorely disappointed to discover that an itemized bill was in order. Turns out, this wasn't actually a bad thing...we walked out stuffed to gills with a check under $40 since with the 50% promo, each sushi order or hand roll averages $2-3 and fancy rolls come in at $5-6. Dirt cheap prices so no complaints here. The salmon is like butter. The yellowtail, not so much. We just go for serious salmon overkill here: spicy salmon handrolls, salmon sushi, salmon kama. The Rock & Roll is pretty darn good since it's wrapped in cucumber so one does not feel like a complete fatass after ingesting. Good sushi, weird tasting sodas. Will definitely return and stick to water.

Came here for lunch a couple of times and the waiter remember our orders! which i think is neat... the chicken teriyaki lunch special is very good. Rolls are very tasty as well. Great service and great food!

So from the other reviews I've read, it says that they use to be a AYCE place. But its not anymore and I have no problem with that. They have awesome specials. Buy 3 list items and get 50% off. I didnt get to take advantage of their drink specials but I did see some great deals. Being discounted has no effect on the quality of the fish. I have tried sushi in downtown LA at Little Tokyo at places like Hama and Gen and can be some what of a sushi snob. This place has great quality. In Upland, its kind of a hidden gem especially with the popular and delicious AYCE Sushi Takumi down the street distracting everyone from this awesome place. My order: -Unagi Sushi (Just cooked long enough to be crispy and moist at the same time.) -2 Orders Pepper/Seared Salmon Sushi (Smoky and melts in your mouth *just had to get a second round haha*.) -Albacore (Fresh and not fishy! Not pre-seared like all the other joints.) -Salmon Collar "Salad" ($4 I think, not a salad, just 2 huge pieces of salmon collar, yum. So worth the money.) Spider Handroll (Just the right amount of rice, crab, and softshell crab.) -Soda My meal was about $20 dollars (What a steal!) Visit for photo (follow me!): instagram.com/p/X8hiDAP3… This place is basically a new business since they took away the AYCE. Hard to see off the street and a definite must! Conclusion: Pros: -Great Food -Great Price -Great Service Cons: -Location -Ambiance (looks awkward inside) TRY IT!!!!

Man do I love this place! This is my mine and my wife's #1 spot when it comes to sushi. Rolls are decent sized, the ingredients are fresh, and it's 50% off if you get 3 or more items from their special menu, which contains nearly every item in the restaurant. Some of my favorites include the shiro roll, jalapeño crab roll, rainbow roll and the spicy tuna, but I like nearly everything on the menu, except for the fried rolls. The service has never dissapointed me or my wife. They are always friendly and accommodating, and we've never had to wait too long for our food, even when they're super busy. The few times they've made mistakes, they have gone out of their way to fix them. It is seriously always a joy to tip these people. I have gone on sushi quests in and out of the area, and I've yet to find a place that tops shiro.

  • Ben R.

This place is no longer AYCE. However, my two starts have very little to do with that! Firstly, Their hours of business was clearly stated on Yelp, but we had to wait 15 minutes before they seated us. Furthermore, The quality of food seem to be going down the hill lately. I suspect that when they are no longer AYCE, they sell less, therefore, the fish might not be as fresh as before??? It's just my opinion, but i will revisit Sushi Shiro again in the future to give them a try again !!!

  • Lori D.

I think this place is one of the best sushi in the area. We ordered 5 rolls, one of them lobster roll, very delicious! We could not eat it all, so we took the left overs for home. Basically 3 people eat delicious sushi, and the price for that was $35. :) We had a good experience and we will be back soon. We will be back for sure!

I'm starting to get weary of resturants that have been yelped approved. The reviews of this place are high and when walking in I saw the ubiquitous "they love us on yelp" sticker on the door. I assume they gave into yelp aggressive marketing strategies and now any negative reviewed will be "filtered." Hmmm I wonder if this will? Any who, I came thinking the reviews were legit and bam was I proved wrong. 1. ITS NOT AYCE; however this is a good thing after trying the sushi 2. The chiefs are incredibly stingy with the fish, sliced extremely thin to non-existent, yet that's all it takes to get a whiff of the foul smell of old fish. One bite and I was done. Too bad I had three rolls of inedible rolls. Pos: 1. Friendly server 2. lunch deals; 50% off if you order 3 rolls or more Thanks for misleading me yelp and having me drop cash on a horrible restaurant you so proudly "approve" of. Yuck.

First time in with my friend and we had a wonderful evening our server was Daniel. The food was amazing. The fish was very fresh and tasty. Looking forward to my next my next visit. The service was great.

Good sushi and an even better price!! They have a special 50% off menu when you order 3 or more items, everyday. Which includes specialty rolls, hand rolls and cut rolls. Their appetizers, sides, and other stuff aren't included, yet still reasonably priced. Their beer was pretty cheap too. I came here with my boyfriend on a Friday night and they were packed. We didn't wait to be seated and the service was awesome. My drink was never empty. We had 3 specialty rolls, an appetizer, one beer, and green tea ice cream and our bill was $30!! Super great price for a sushi night out. I usually like caterpillar rolls, but theirs was a little too fishy tasting. That's my only complaint; everything else was awesome and I will be coming here again!

First time coming to Sushi Shiro and we were greeted by the $1 oyster sign outside the restaurant. I love oyster! It didnt dissapoint as the oysters were really good (esp. Since it was $1). Their sushi and rolls were yummy too. If you order 3 items or more, the price became 50% less. Who can beat that? I wouldn't order less than 3 since the regular price is higher than normal sushi joints. We especially liked the spider and vegas rolls. The volcano to us was too soft. We also got the sapporro which was $2. The service is excellent. All in all, we'll come back.

I had to change my review, because the price stays around the same as their old AYCE price. Basically, you pay around the same for amazing rolls, if you get too full you can take them home, and you get good service. Daniel is our man! He takes care of us, brings us amazing sauces, and we are well liked here. Love it!

Excellent - great service, creative and flavorful rolls. The 50% off makes it WAY worth it if you're hungry. Service can be a little slow, I've been several times but nothing a hot tea or beer and conversation with company can't cover.

It seems that sushi shiro has downgraded in their food. I use to love going here for once or twice a month but now I have stopped going. Their portions have shrunken in size and the flavors are very lacking. I really tried to give it a chance a few times but every new visit is more displeasing. I'm just giving a three for the service.

Ate here tonight for the first time and was really impressed with the sushi. We ordered off their 50% off menu which included lots of rolls and appetizers. I really didn't like their mixed tempura...looked very paltry. However, all the rolls we ordered were very tasty and generous portions provided. We brought home a togo box which my husband will be taking for lunch tomorrow. We ordered a terriyaki chicken bowl for the kiddo and it took 45 minutes for them to bring to the table and it was pretty bland...not their strong suit. We will definitely be back.

Was recommended by a coworker to try this sushi place. And Ah-mazing!! This was an awesome sushi joint. and I highly recommend this place to all of the sushi lovers! Loved loved the sashimi plate and the baked lobsters roll. Sushi chefs were super friendly and the price was definitely reasonable...Would definitely come back.

I'm glad I yelped this restaurant and bought a couple gift certificates from restaurant.com because this place is amazing! My bf and I ordered 2 pieces of fresh salmon sushi and 2 pieces of fresh white tuna sushi, and they were both so clean-tasting and fresh! We ordered the large hot sake to share and their draft beers were only $2. We always check out the baby lobster roll at any sushi joint we try, and though it wasn't our absolute favorite, it was still very good. We usually like our baby lobster roll baked with saucy goodness, but this one lacked a little. The baked salmon roll was probably the favorite of the rolls. Too much cream cheese can overstuff me and kill my appetite, but at Sushi Shiro, this roll had the right amount of everything. It literally just melts in your mouth! The rainbow roll was really good and a nice contrast to our baked rolls. Surprisingly, we made room for 2 desserts - the tempura green tea ice cream and the banana cream puffs with plum wine ice cream. I'm not huge on sweets and these were SO GOOD! Not too sweet at all, but enough to leave you totally satisfied. The tempura ice cream was fresh and crispy, topped with whipped cream and blueberries. The banana cream puffs were like little sweet banana egg rolls, and the plum wine ice cream had chunks of plum that were so yummy! We sat at the sushi bar which is always fun, with the right sushi chefs. Overall, the staff was so friendly and accommodating, and the food was amazing! Even after our $25 gift certificate, the bill still came to about $56, but it was worth every bite! We'll be coming here all the time!

What a great place! I can't even write a well thought out review because I'm still in a sushi-induced food coma @___@ A friend and I went for the AYCE lunch and I was very impressed. Everything was good and for the price( which was 25.99) you get your money's worth. The only bad side was that all the rolls we ordered had that California-mayo-imitation-crab filling. By the 4th roll, I was totally over it and ready to call it quits...that and I was too full to move. :I

Worst service ever! I have been here a couple of times, and today was the worst. They are not AYCE anymore, rather, they offer everything 50% off. My bf and I were waiting for about 10 mins and were not asked at ALL if we were helped already. Their selection is ok. There's a lot more I can write but I'd rather not. Total disgust. I will NEVER return here. I'd rather wait an hour for Takumi.

The food is delicious and if you order 3 or more items the bill is 50% off. I was reluctant when i heard that discount but i was very surprised as to how good the food is. The staff is very nice and it is simply hands down the best sushi for the price. I've had most items on the menu and they're all great.

The math here is lovely. I just had dinner at Sushi Shiro with three friends. -- Salmon Collar Salad - $8 -- Caterpillar Roll - $16 -- Dragon Roll - $15 -- Red Dragon Roll - $15 -- Shiro Roll - $12 -- Miso for 1 (This didn't make it onto the bill, so I wonder if miso is free if you want it. I'd have gotten it if I'd known, but they may have also just left it off the bill accidentally. I'd ask next time.) -- Coke - $1.95 All of this, with their special deal, came out to $34.95 before tax and tip. Glorious. If you will order at least three eligible items off of the 50% off menu, then everything you order (from that menu) is 50% off. There is something interesting going on with the floor. You can really feel people walking by. It may only be in specific spots, but I think I'll ask for a table closer to the walls/windows next time. Addition: I've now gone back twice, and the other areas of the restaurant were fine. EDIT: A large group of us went on a Friday, and the wait was ridiculous. I used that time to figure out what we should order. Also, our waiter felt bad about the super long wait (smaller parties who arrived way after us got seated first) and gave us a giant quantity of green tea ice cream to make up for it. I still recommend this place highly, but maybe go with a smaller group on Friday and a larger group on Sunday. The food actually seems to be getting better, so that's a very happy thing to report!

The waiter was fantastic. Very attentive and friendly. The food, however, was decent. It was neither bad nor spectacular. It was less than what I hoped for. If you are searching for amazing sushi, don't eat here. If you just want regular sushi at great prices, then this place is the place to be.

Overall, not bad. The food to $ comparison is about par, I ordered a handful of rolls and most (all but 2) came out well

Very fresh fish and nice, friendly atmosphere. They have all you can eat sushi (within a two hour sitting window) for ~$27 that's totally worth it. I love their white tuna. If you're in the area and loce sushi, it's worth your money to go here. They also have a lunch menu but I've never been there for lunch. I've been here several times within the last couple of years and the food quality doesn't change - fresh fish, fast and great service every time I've been there.

I'm kinda sad by all the low reviews on here. The fiance and I have been here 4 times for all you can eat now. I must admit I got an awful tummy ache once after eating here and they are starting to add extra crab mix to just about everything, but we'll still be back. The portions are HUGE and rather delicious. I love that they include the good stuff on the AYCE and not just the cheap stuff like at other restaurants. I'm usually a strictly sushi kinda girl, no rolls, but here my fave (and I ate TWO last time all by myself) is the baked salmon roll, mmmm.

I came here during lunch after 1pm and it wasn't very crowded. Upon walking in, there isnt much decor to the place other than it being painted in a red, white and black theme with a nice fire place at the corner and a small area for the sushi bar. They do offer 30% during lunch time for dine in and take out. If you check-in with yelp, you get a free soda with a purchase of all you can eat for those wanting to try out their AYCE sushi. Food: I'd say this place is average on the food grade. I ordered the spicy sashimi bowl which came with cubed sashimi over rice with a spicy sauce (not spicy at all to me though) and a salad. I also had the spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna roll was pretty good for what I've tasted so far around the upland area. It has a spicy kick to it and I wouldn't mind ordering it again. As for the spicy sashimi bowl, the sashimi was ok. It wasn't soft fish or melt in your mouth kind of fish, so I wouldn't say their sashimi is up there on the awesome scale! The bowl does come as a good portion although majority of it is rice and not much actual fish. Service: I ordered to-go so I don't know how the service is on dine-in. But one you walk thru the door, the waiter would greet you in japanese with a welcome or hello maybe? And then seat you down and provide you with menus. This place isn't so bad and I would come back to try out their other sushi rolls. As of right now, there is happy hour of $1 beer and sake on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the summer for those who are interested.
