Everything we've eaten here has been amazing. The peanut sauce is to die for. Our top eats here are: sea bass w/ eggplant, yellow curry chicken, pad thai, and the prawns for an appetizer. We usually get the food to go, but the few times we've eaten inside, the wait staff has always been great!

Been here twice and enjoy it. Food is great. We love the chicken basil and pumpkin curry. The only thing that would give it a 5 star is the service. They are friendly and attentive but it seems like they only have one or two servers and the wait is a bit long.

I was craving some really good and kind of spicy Thai food today. The girlfriend wanted to take me to this place she went to last week so I thought I'd give it a shot. We ordered some spicy chicken, chicken fried rice, and chicken rice noodles. YUM, some of the best Thai food I've had, and I've been to so many different places. Something about the texture and the flavor, it just seems so natural at this place. Ya, the outside of the restaurant looks super shady, but it's so worth it! AND IT'S CHEAP!

If I could give a zero, I would. My husband and I ate (or not) here on Sat and lets just say, we left hungry. First, the service totally sucked. They seemed unhappy that we had shown our faces there. Some old dude put the menus on a table and hoped we figure out that that is where we would sit. They seemed to be arguing about money when we got there. The pad thai was a bunch of noodles, fried in stinky yellow grease that coated the plate, without much else. They then sprinkled some crushed peanuts on top and two shrimp - which by the way tasted dated and horrible! oh, and the spritz of green onion. I attempted to make it better by requesting the hot sauce and spices (which were not offered with the meal) but that could not help the very sucky meal. They did not ask us how the food was, well, I am sure they knew our opinion based on the food we left almost untouched on the table. If it were up to me, I wouldn't have tipped them but my lovely husband feels like he has to. Needless to say, we passed by in-n-out on our way home. Let's just say that I will never ever eat there again and will make sure everyone knows not to waste their time, money, and hungry tummy by going there!

Great service, family run. Amazing food! Place doesn't look that great but you will be positively surprised. I recommend the papaya salad spicy and red curry chicken with brown rice. Enjoy!

This restaurant was my first experience with Thai food, and I'm a fan. My son wanted to take me out to dinner and he chose Thai Kitchen. I have to admit I was a little hesitant about trying something new, especially since I would be taking a flight out of California to Idaho the next day and really didn't want to be sick during the flight. I can't tell you what we ate because he did the ordering, but everything we tried was really good....and we tried maybe 4 or five different dishes. I was especially interested in trying peanut sauce. It doesn't sound like it would be very good at all, but it was! I was pleasantly surprised! ;) I'm not a real adventurous diner. I mean, I'd rather try places where my family or friends have eaten ( or read about other people's experiences on Yelp! ) rather than go into a place not knowing what to expect, but this food was delicious. I haven't been back but I hope to someday. :)

Had a craving for thai so I checked on Yelp and this popped up. This place is literally 3 minutes away from my parents' home so I called in and ordered their famous honey bbq pork. The verdict: it's all that. I can see why everyone loves this dish. The pork is butterflied and grilled to perfection. You can tell that it is well marinated with honey and thai spices. Overall, it's definitely a win win. It's a decent price for lunch at $6.95 and it comes with jasmine rice and a side salad. It's a great alternative to fast food around the area. Thanks Yelp!

As my boyfriend and I approached the establishment's storefront, we both hesitated for a bit. The restaurant looked deserted, but like the optimistic person I am, I insisted that we try this place out. Right off the bat I noticed the dark wood paneling reminiscent of the 70s and my pre-renovated family room. Nevertheless, they did a good job in accenting the dark paneling with authentic Thai tapestries and art. I ordered the garlic shrimp, while my boyfriend ordered the honey bbq chicken. Both were extremely tasty and the portions were enough to share. The shrimp was infused with garlic and had a tomato based sauce -- it sort of tasted like Boiling Crab's whole shabang without the spice. The shrimp was delicious and flavorful and accompanied the chicken quite well. The chicken was full of flavor from their special blend of Thai spices and the honey dipping sauce was a good complement. Both dishes were served with rice that was placed in a silver Thai bowl, which added a nice touch. They did not skimp on the aesthetic factor in how their food is plated and served. Service is also excellent. My glass was always full and the waiter was attentive to not only our needs, but also the requests of those who dined around us. He did so in a timely manner as well. The place is also extremely clean as I've seen the waiters spray tables down with Windex immediately after a person is done with their meal and left the restaurant. Unlike some other Thai places I've been to, dishes often sit on a table for a good while before they're picked up. Thai Kitchen is really good about that. Other than the rather dark interior and the gang of old Filipino men drinking their beer and mugging at my boyfriend the night I went, Thai Kitchen is a place I will frequent as the prices are reasonable and the food is good.

This place is our favorite shot for Thai food. The Basil fired rice is very good, not too dry, very flavorful and has a bit of kick. The garlic Salmon is amazing. It's like food heaven. The fresh garlic paste on top is out of this world. The Salmon is moist and made perfect each time. This place is great for kids and adult a good place to have a good family dinner. Highly recommend. Only Con - I wish they would come around more offten to check and refill waters.

I work in Milpitas and hence- have a pretty good idea of what good thai food tastes like. I really wanted to believe the things that 4 & 5 star-ers said about this place! I really wanted to be like- great, local restuarant, hole in the wall and enjoy the local flavors. However- my experience wasnt the case. The food was just ok. I had the tom yom soup and I liked how there were a lot of mushroom and chicken but the soup base itself did not have the kick that I would have liked. Maybe this soup is more particular to a specific region... If you are a light eater like me, the soup itself with rice would be enough. :) The fried calamari was just bad! It was mostly fried dough and the squid was too chewy for my taste. However- I do like to decor and I thought ther service was quick. The way they serve the tea in a silver teapot was cute. If I come here again, I think I will try something else on the menu. I mean there are a lot of locals that seem to frequent this place so there must be something that I am missing...

This place is right around the corner from my house, I never noticed it until I read a few reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I guess I had too much expectation based on the 4 star review. The service is good, but the food is just so-so. Pat Thai is too sweet and sour and kind of sticky which shouldn't be. Pineapple fried rice has too much soy-sauce in it. I should have never ordered the steamed lemon fish filet, who steams fish filet anywayz?!! The yellow curry chicken is a bit plain and dry. The only good dish turned out to be the appetizer, chicken satay. The price is cheap at this place, but I've had far better Thai food in the area at similar price level. I guess I won't be returning to this place again.

My spouse and I have eaten at the Thai Kitchen on a regular basis for a number of years now. I most always enjoy the food and always feel welcomed. Once, when the food was spicier than I ordered, the wait person offered me a replacement, and the original was removed from my check. I love the papaya salad, the soups, the BBQ Honey Pork, the daily lunches, the Salmon (oh, I can't list everything I like). The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Though place is old, it is clean and well-kept. I recommend you go there and see for yourself.

First time here at Thai Kitchen. When we arrived at the restaurant, there were only like 2 tables dining. I ordered the Pad See Ew, with Chicken. It wasn't as flavorful as other Pad See Ew's I've had at other Thai restaurants. It' was decent, but i think it needed more flavor. My mom had a curry dish, which she didn't particularly like. Service was okay, got water soon after we sat down. The decor is also kinda old. The shopping center, looked kinda dead lol. Overall experience 3 stars.

This place gets Thai food spot on. It's located next to a bunch of Indian restaurants in a corner of a plaza near a gas station. It's hard to find at times, but once you walk in you get a sense of fine dining. The service is average and it still takes day to get water, but I am used to that by now. The food is spectacular though. It's one of the few thai places where I leave with no to go box no matter how much food I get. That's how good it is.

I've heard about this place before, but never tried it. It was a Sunday evening and my boyfriend and I were trying to figure out what to eat for dinner. Finally, we decided to go to Thai Kitchen. It was located in a plaza. There was plenty of parking. Inside it was dark, but since the sign said Open, we decided to go on it. The hostess was nice and she seated us. Looking at the meny, the prices seemed reasonable. We ordered the Pad Thai, Yellow Curry Chicken and Green Chili Beef. The Pad Thai had a lot of flavor and was tasty. I enjoyed the potatoes and curry chicken. There was just enough spice in the beef. All in all, I was satisfied with my meal. The servers were nice and friendly. They kept coming back to check up on it. If I'm in the area, I would go back.

I've tried many pad thais in many thai restaurants but Thai Kitchen's, for me, is the BEST!...very flavorful...the rice noodles are not sticky, served with chicken, tofu, and shrimp, garnished with crushed peanuts, bean sprouts, lime, etc...and serving is generous... ...their beef satay is also yummy..meat is tender...peanut dipping sauce is not overwhelming... ...the green bean chicken is an absolute favorite, too...crunchy green beans served with tender chicken... not too spicy, just the way I like it... ...the servers are soft-spoken, polite and very attentive to our needs...prices are affordable...the establishment's interior may be old, but nonetheless, clean and pleasant for a casual lunch or dinner with family or friends...

I went out to dinner and wanted to try this place out and took the gamble since I'm super picky with my Thai food (being that it's my culture) food was not authentic at all! We ordered 2 beverages, angel wings and 2 entrees. Why did our entrees come before everything? I had to ask the waiter for our drinks and when we started to eat dinner the appetizer came. I used to frequent this spot back in the late 90's, and have come to dine here once and a while since I've moved back to Hayward, and the food is absolutely the way I remembered it. I usually order the bbq beef with that orange sauce, the meat is savory and tender and the sweet orange sauce compliments the dish well. I also order the Tom Yum Gai, because it is so darn tasty. I've tried the other dishes as well and they were up my alley, except for one of the curry dishes, but I can't really remember the name of it right now. The restaurant staff is great, they are extremely kind and attentive. The venue is dark and has that Thai kitschy-ness to it, I also can't help the fact that it used to be a Pioneer Chicken or a pizza parlor back in the 80's. Overall this place is a well to do Thai restaurant, eat here if you want, you won't be disappointed.

I have been coming here for a few years now and I must say, the food hasn't changed. When I come in they always greet me and seat me right away, they never get really packed here, or so not when I go, so I never have to wait. I always order their thai coffee tea which is good, sometimes it can be a tad bit sweet, but you can always ask for less sweet which is nice. I've had their angel wings here which is good and it comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Their Tom Kha chicken soup comes in a pot and it serves 4 people easily. My friend she loves the fact that they put so much mushroom and meat in the soup. Their Tom Yum soup is also very tasty, it tastes like Vietnamese canh chua (hot and sour soup). Their Pad see ew and pad thai are my two favorite noodles and they never make it wrong here. One of my favorite is their yellow curry chicken, there's so much flavor in it and it goes so well over white rice. I've tried all their other dishes and it's all been good to me. I haven't been disappointed here yet. For dessert the fried bananas with coconut ice cream is so good. Sometimes I would just go here after dinner to get this. Their lunch specials are also a good deal. I ordered the basil chicken and it was filling, it came with soup and an eggroll.

In all my life I've traveled up and down Alvarado Blvd., I've always notice Thai Kitchen but would brush it off since I've never heard anyone talk about, there wasn't any appeal to it, not to mention their parking lot was always empty. In the mood for some Thai last night, I decided that we suck it up and try it out...and last night was also my biggest moded moment of the year! We walk in to a dining room with wall to wall faux brick and were instantly greeted, very warmly I may add. There was only one other occupied table in the entire resto, so it was quite intimate. We ordered their Tom Kha Chicken Soup, Appetizer Combo, Honey BBQ Pork, Rice and for dessert, Roti w/Condensed Milk. Tom Kha Chicken Soup - Mmm...so delish! I love Tom Kha soup and it was probably one of the best I've had. It came out in a tureen with a bit of Sterno fire to keep it hot. The base was rich and not too spicy. The portion was quite generous that the s/o and I weren't able to finish the tureen...a total first for us. Appetizer Combo - Came w/three Beef Satays w/peanut sauce, three Mini Spring Rolls, three fish cakes and one big piece of Angel Chicken. I had everything but the fish cakes and it was all good. We ordered this as an entree and offered us a great variety for our meal. Honey BBQ Pork - Although I'm not a fan of honey, or anything honey flavored unless it's in tea, I have to say that this was pretty good. The meat was grilled perfectly and the sauce was just right and not too sweet. Roti w/Condensed Milk - Oh man, for $2.95, we should've ordered two! It was sooo sweet and delish. Kind of looks like a pancake but it's not. If you've never had Roti before, it's kind of like a multi-layer crepe. It probably would've gone great with a scoop of ice cream...hmm, maybe next time! Overall...Thai Kitchen serves up some great Thai food, it definitely beats the other Thai restos we've tried in the area. The staff were all really super friendly. We're definitely going to be back!

Came here one day after a long drive, and decided to eat thai with my bf. First impression... Super nice waitresses! We had a great convo about hiking and how we were thirsty, so they gave us a huge pitcher of water. We were super happy and decided to order their pad thai, crab fried rice, yellow curry, and their sweet fish. Comparatively to other Thai places I've eaten at, this place satisfies my cravings but is lacking something that makes the food outstanding. Its average. The rice was a little flavorless and fish too salty. The curry was good though.

My friend Christy and I tried this place today for lunch. We ordered take-out: 2 orders of Green Curry Chicken and 1 Pad Tai from the lunch menu. Christy wanted hers mild and I wanted mine hot, and they were happy to accomodate that request. Our order was ready in 10 minutes. The food was very good with a very interesting combination of flavors. They have a huge variety to order from and paper menus that you can take home to peruse. One item caught my eye that I want to try next time: the Pineapple Fried Rice. (Fried rice with chicken, shrimp, pineapple, cashew nuts, raisins, onions, and bell pepper.

Well..... not so much. Good basic place to get some good basic Thai food. Everything I have ordered has been good and just what I expected. Tonight, I went out my self imposed box ordered lamb curry. If their previous efforts were not good, I would not have taken a shot on this one. (have not eaten it, waiting for the wife to get home) Assume it was good unless I post an update. If it is a first date and you are looking to impress, this is not the place to go. Unless you want to play the "I know this great little hole in the wall. You are going to love it!" card. The decor is standard Thai culture budget tchotchke. I have paid much more for much less.

Ordered take out a few Fridays ago. Umm... New owners. Food tastes different, there's less of it and it's more expensive. I ordered three Items and some plain white rice from an old take out menu. Expecting to pay only $30... I only brought $40... thank gooshniks that my wife always throws her change in the center console because it came to $42 and change. The food was decent enough but not quite the value it used to be. The people are less friendly... the guy actually ran after me yelling "hey you didn't pay!" and he was standing next to the older gentleman when I DID. How sad... I really liked this place.

I was pretty happy with my surprise visit to this place. I had promised the kids enchiladas from Mexico Tipico but the line was too long so I headed to Thai Kitchen. I can't believe I have not written a review for this place. This place is consistent with their service and food. I have been here many times for dine in and take out. They are very on top for customer service. The main lady, can't remember her name, usually recognizes my voice and when I enter the restaurant. She is also is great at remembering that my mother is a vegetarian -- no meat, eggs or fish sauce. I have tried a handful of items on the menu. I definitely recommend: -Praram veggies -Tom Yum mushrooms -Tom Kha mushrooms -Red curry mushrooms and Pineapples -Coconut Ice cream with Sweet Rice -- totally hits the spot! I agree with the other 5 star review below. I will also update my review of new dishes I try today after lunch.

I've been coming to this spot for as long as I can remember. No, seriously, my first exposure to Thai food was at Thai Kitchen. And I've been hooked ever since. I don't get to frequent the place as much as I would like to nowadays, but if I'm in the area and craving Thai food this is the place to be at. Went here with the fam on a weeknight. Kinda quiet, not too crowded. We order: ~ Combination appetizer - egg roll, angel wing chicken (YUM - still my fave!), BBQ on a stick and fish cakes. Yup, add some rice and that's a meal in itself. ~ BBQ Honey Chicken - moist and flavorful ~ Catfish w/ green beans (special) - the catfish was breaded and sauced, which some felt made it kind of chewy. The texture was a tad off, but it still didn't distract from the flavor. ~ Pad Thai - light, not heavy and orange-y like a lot of other places. ~ Steamed rice (duh!) The food is just as good as I remember it to be. The dishes are aesthetically pleasing and the flavors pop in your mouth. There were definite moments of silence at the table as we all savored our food. The service was good. Our server was friendly, and the food came out in no time. The ambiance is a bit brighter than I remember it being; it's usually a bit darker, which lends itself to a more intimate feel. But, that could just be because it's summer and it wasn't quite dark yet. (shrug) Overall, still a pleasant experience. The food is consistently good, which is why I keep on coming back. My uncle said it best: I don't know why this place isn't busier than it should be.

My girlfriend and I tried this place out last week. I come to wonder how I even find places sometimes because I drove right past this place twice. It's tucked in a little corner and is on the far right side when entering that plaza. Due to the fact that I have been told my recent reviews have been "long-winded", I'll get more to the point in this one. I'm not promising that going forward though. OK! Now to the Thai Kitchen we go. Inside, with brick walls, and nothing really fancy inside, it hints of a family owned business. There were a few customers inside already dining at the time. Though the tables were decently separately, everyone could hear all the conversations in the whole restaurant. I think they may need some good separators between some of the tables to increase the privacy, but I doubt that's happening. A few times I could have swore the hostess was listening into our conversation. Call me paranoid, but I could hear everyone else's conversation around me. So I'm assuming it's the same the other way around. The menu was very colorful and there were a lot of pictures. I like pictures in menus, even though it may not come out looking the same as the menus sometimes. The variety at Thai Kitchen wasn't very unique and has the usual stuff a Thai restaurant may have. The pictures in the menu are a big plus for me. I could see that it could be a bang or bust from a restaurant's perspective. On the negative aspect of things, it could give an exaggerated expectation of an item on the menu. We got the pad thai, yellow curry, and green chili beef. All of the food was average. The serving sizes were decently portioned for the prices. The sauce from the green chili beef seemed to not enter into the meat making the meat seen unflavored. It tasted like the sauce and the meat was separate for some reason. The sauce itself was good though. The curry was fine, wish there was a little more sauce since I like drowning my rice with the sauce. (Yes I know, it's not the healthiest, but I only do that sometimes.) This ended up being a little "long-winded"; I apologize about that to Doris W., since she's the one that told me to get to the point and not meander around in mindless ramble. Thai Kitchen is average and an old-fashioned restaurant. To put in one sentence, the food was average and the prices are fair. I don't know why, but I was fixed on the pictures in the menu. Thought it was best part of the experience. (Semi-joke) I'll probably not venture here again, but hope this place the best in its future business.

Thai T-Thai Thai Thaaaaaaiiii! We came to Thai Kitchen in a bad mood and left in a happy jolly mood. That's how awesome this place is. It was completely empty on a Saturday afternoon but we didn't feel rushed. The decor is cute and everything was cleaned (even the menus!) This may sound ridiculous to mention but it's an important factor for restaurants that most people would not try, especially since it's in a shopping plaza. Thai Kitchen has the utmost sweetest server ever and the food was superb. I drank 2 Thai Iced Teas and my bf got the green curry beef. Get it uber spicy if you can handle it. I got the Pad Thai. It was good but it had a really really fishy smell that I couldn't get over. So we switched entrees. The prices are very reasonable and the service is quick. Our server was so sweet and she even gave me Thai Iced Tea to go! What a doll!

For the longest time I lived around the corner from this place. But I never knew what GEM was lying inside. My friend took me on my first Thai experience here, years back, and I've got to say, I've never turned back. The food here is delicious, although I wouldn't mind if the portions were larger. Things to get: Red Ducky Curry Red Chicken Curry Pad Se Ew Kao Prao Beef Any type of Tom Yum Pineapple fried rice Any type of Satay Dynamite chicken (not on menu) Garlic Pork Garlic Prawns The Sweet and Sour Pompano ok this list can go on and on.. OH. duh the fried banana and ice cream, and another dessert I tried the other day, their Roti Bread in condensed milk. anyway, this is a great spot for an intimate quiet date (not romantic), or a group of friends, or a large party. The staff is super friendly, and I always feel like I've been welcomed home when I walk in the doors!

Plus their calamari was made very different as well. Try the curry!!! It's infuse with spices you can't resist!! By far my favorite Thai restaurant as of yet. I have been extremely pleased with every entree I have ever ordered here before, especially the mussels in yellow curry. My boyfriend and I always order the following: chicken pad thai, chicken satay, chicken with yellow curry, rice, and thai iced teas. The food is reasonably priced and portions are fair. The presentation of the food is immaculate. Even their rice is served in fancy silver tin bowls. My only down pour to this place is the slow service while eating inside! It is not slow enough to keep me from revisiting, but it veers me away from giving them 5 stars.

Honestly, for some reasons I was scared to go in this restaurant at first. But one evening my partner and I decided to check it out just because we love thai food. when we first walked it the young man that was working there was very polite to have us seated right away (we were the only customer at that time). We didnt know what to pick from the menu,everything seemed good to the eye. Asked the server for his opinion and referred us to the Ka-Prao (beef with basil and chili) so we got that the Red Curry Duck and Thai Kitchen fried rice. Our orders came 10 minutes after ordering. Food was exquisite, server was nice, quality of service was fast and good.. Overall great experience.=]

Quite simply, decent Thai food at affordable prices. Our friends took us here after an afternoon of drinking and watching football. I think I pee'd out all of the alcohol, so I don't think the beer was interfering with my taste buds. We ordered some Pad Thai, and eggplant dish, and other dishes I can't really remember. Hmmm..... I guess alcohol really does affect your brain. Eh, oh well. Anyway, the food was good and we are probably going to go back very soon. This time, I'll skip the afternoon drinking session and see if the food still tastes good. Stay tuned.

I'm addicted. I look forward to eating lunch because of Thai Kitchen. I rarely take lunches but this place has me addicted! After trying this place a couple of times I have created the perfect dish. Basil eggplant chicken (not on the menu). So damn good. Every time I go here now they know that I want, the basil eggplant chicken and my chillies in fish sauce with Thai tea, the usual. Lol what a fatty I am, to walk into a restaurant and they know exactly what I want and how I like it. Definitely my favorite Thai restaurant. Shall I dare say its better than Krung Thai? I like the brick walls inside. It almost reminds me of a barbeque joint, but with Thai ornaments, a pic of the king (of course) and it was much cleaner. I went on a Thursday afternoon and the place was about 70% filled. A busy restaurant is always encouraging to see. For lunch, I ordered: -Yellow Curry Chicken: Nice and thick. The chicken is a little dry though but I find that very common at a lot of Thai places. It's hard to cook white meats well in curries. -Pa'nang Beef: Tasty! I love the fresh zucchini. Makes a big difference. -Pad Thai: Not orange! I was surprised. What makes pad thai orange anyway? The noodles were overcooked so they ended up being quite soft and watery, not noticeably though. -Thai Ice Tea: Also not orange. This place must really abstain from food coloring. The sweetness overpowered the tea flavor. Each curry dish comes with a generous helping of rice (white or Jasmine). For two people, these three dishes were more than enough! I'm actually surprised at how full I am. The total bill came out to $24 (pre-tip).

We got here around 6:30 or so. The place was completely empty, no customers and no one up front. That was a sign that we should have walked out, but we were quite hungry. We stood there for a few minutes until a man came out and said "oh" like even he was shocked that they had a visitor. We both ordered the #48. Mine was with chicken and his was with pork. Mine tasted fine but his was sweet, too spicy, and just weird tasting. WTF? Can we get some consistency here? And both entrees were SMALL. Service was slow, the one waitress there didn't come to fill our waters or check up on us despite me staring at her. And what other table did she have to wait on? We were the only ones there! We also shared a fried banana. I've had way better ones. Total bill came out to 23 buck. Not bad, but the meal wasn't satisfying. Won't be back.

Not bad actually. I'm not sure why we waited so long to go eat at this place. My cousin kept telling me it's one of her favorite Thai places in the area. The staff is pretty friendly. They even told everyone that someone's car lights are on. The decor is just so-so. But definitely go here for the food, not the decor. They're also very quick in making the food. I don't think it even took 5 minutes and the food was pretty hot and tasty. Their pad thai was pretty good, although I still like Sala Thai's better. Their Tom Yum soup had quite a kick to it, but it was very good. I guess you shouldn't go by my review though because I can't handle spicy food very well. I can't wait to try more of their food.

Thai Kitchen is located in an unassuming strip mall on Alvarado, right across the street from Seafood City. The decor was typical of most Thai restaurants, photos of the King and all. We ordered quite a bit of food for just being a party of 4.... - Honey BBQ pork (probably the best dish of the night. Flavorful and sweet.) - Curry fried rice with duck (nothing special. The duck was a little dry. Was kinda boring for fried rice.) - Angel wings (these were ok) - Fish cakes (also ok) - Crying tiger (second best dish of the night) - Green curry with fish balls (you can't really go wrong with fish balls. The curry was just alright) - Roti with condensed milk I wasn't too impressed with this place. I would much rather make the drive to Oakland to get some rul good Thai food.

My brother and I went here for lunch last Saturday. Pretty empty, which worries me if I try a new place. In any case, the wait person was friendly and answered some questions we had. I had a vegetable dish that I can't recall. I guess that describes what it was - edible but unremarkable. It was heavy with sauce that didn't make it taste any better. My brother had a chicken dish that he thought was average. He also had the fried calamari - he didn't like it at all. It looks like we tried the wrong dishes here, but at least for vegetarian dishes and calamari, I'll take a pass.

So I've been coming to this place for years now. It's always been good, comforting food. They have an extensive menu, and their lunch menu is pretty lengthy. =) The only thing I don't like about this place, the seafood combo they use isn't fresh. It tastes frozen, which isn't pleasant with all the fishy-ness. Their fish dishes are good, just avoid anything that mentions a combination of seafood and you're fine. I highly suggest their lamb curry. Yum!

My little girl has a peanut allergery and it is nice to see a Thai restertaunt that we can go to that does not cook in peanut oil. The bbq chicken is good. what a a happy accident! we were actually looking for thai original bbq restaurant bc we were craving a combo plate and hoped it would be as good as the one way over in westborough but our GPS led us here (we made a right instead of a left in land o' strip malls). it wasn't until we sat down w/ water & menus that i realized we weren't in the right place. FWIW, gathering from the convo from the couple behind us, they made the same mistake :p i quickly yelped and noticed that this place had higher ratings than the one we were trying to go to, so we stayed. we had the pad thai and pork honey bbq and both were outstanding! we also tried the roti w/ condensed milk bc it reminds me of mom & my childhood and it absolutely did not disappoint. the decor made the restaurant look dark but the prices were so affordable, we didn't mind. will definitely be back.

This place is delicious. My girl friend and I were watching a movie and after that, we had to go eat so we just looked up any place on the GPS and it landed on this place. The outside did not look too appealing but when we went inside, the decorations are ok. I saw on the wall that this restaurant was voted best for something for 2009 but I wasn't paying too much attention. Let's get down to the juicy stuff. I ordered the noodles with gravy and it came out DELICIOUS especially with the pickled jalapenos. OMG. Heaven in my mouth. The gravy complemented the dish very well and I got beef with it so I was satisfied overall because it came with vegetables also. The lady working there was really nice and the food did not take too long to come out. I will definitely come back here again if I am in the area.

I really liked the papaya salad, but it didn't come with dried shrimp like it said on the menu. Still, I guess I didn't mind because the perfect spicy tartness more than made up for it. However, my green chili calamari was just ok. The sauce was heavy on the soy sauce, so it didn't have a good balance. Also, it wasn't "hot" as I specified. I've had better seafood sautees elsewhere. My SO's fried tofu dish in red curry was a bit too sweet, as well as rich from all the coconut milk. Then they overcharged us by $1.50, not a big deal but we still noticed.

I love this place because I live 5 minutes away. All it takes is a phone call and it's ready within 20 minutes. As far as the place, it looks creepy. I know the place is old but a little renovation would fit just right. The food is great. I would highly recommend the angel wings and the tom kha soup. Friendly staff. I don't know if I came at the worst time possible or what. Me and my friends were seriously upset with the friend who suggested this restaurant. The Pad-thai smelled like the funk. We had to close our nostrils to eat it and when we did eat it, we promptly had to spit it out. The Pad Kee Mao isn't Pad Kee Mao, they had to use different kind of noodle rather than the thick flat ones. One person ordered the Halo Halo, it came almost luke warm, with solid chunks of ice rather shaved ice. It didn't have many ingredients other than the milk, ice cubes and some of the jelly stuff. The fried banana was old, the exterior was old tasting, and the banana inside was rotten. Well not necessarily rotten but you know when the banana gets soft and has that weak squishy part, well almost a 1/3 of the banana was like that. Also my brothers chicken was dry, very dry.

This is my boyfriend's go to Thai spot, and boy oh boy was he disappointed during our last visit. I never thought this spot was amazing, but always had good things to say about this place, until our last visit. Thai Kitchen is located in a random shopping center across the way from Seafood City. When you walk in, there's nothing really great about the restaurant either. All the decorations seem pretty old and outdated, but I was hoping Thai Kitchen would be the type of place where you can't judge a book by its cover. Everytime we've eaten here there hasn't been much of a crowd, but it stays pretty steady. We always get seated right away, so that's a plus. The service here isn't too bad either, they're really attentive and make sure your water is filled throughout your meal. When we went we ordered: (1) The Calamari - which isn't bad at all. I actually enjoy this dish because of the sauce they serve with it. It's like a sweet n sour sauce, but so much better. (2) Pad Thai - Their pad thai is better than most because of the spices they use to cook it. Unfortunately, the Pad Thai this past visit tasted a tad bit on the funky side. I don't know what it was, but it was burnt smelling too? (3) Duck Curry - Sad face. They only served three pieces of meat with this dish. And the curry was definitely on the watery/bland side. This was the dish that ultimately disappointed us. We've had this before but it never tasted that bad. The duck was way overcooked and rubbery and the curry, once again, was tasteless and watery. (4) Beef Redang? - This dish was probably the best out of the bunch. The beef was cooked nicely, so that it remained tender and juicy, and the broth that came along had a nice flavor and bite to it. Sad to say, I think this might be the last time we'll be visiting Thai Kitchen. There are just so many other good Thai places out there, that this place no longer does it for us. I think this place has their good days and we happened to come across a very bad day.

I'm really surprised this place has such a high rating! I tried it for the first time a couple weeks ago and I was pretty disappointed. I checked with others around the area, and they all agreed that it was a horrible mistake to go to this Thai restaurant. It may be due to the fact that we got here about 15 minutes before closing, but our food was not good. We ordered Munsamun Beef and Pad Thai. The beef in the first dish was hard and not appetizing. The Pad thai was way too oily/greasy. I also felt like the portions were rather on the smaller side. I won't be coming back here again, especially since there's a lot of other better Thai places in the area.

5 star because I couldn't find the place and the lady stayed on the phone with me and helped me find the place. She was really patient because when I get lost... I get pissed quickly. Lol. And she was all cool about it. Onward... to the food and service. OK the food was great... totally lived up to the hype. We ordered the Pad Thai, Chicken Friend Rice, and this Mango Dessert... all yummy! 5 out of 5. Overall service was great as aforementioned. The staff and servers were quick, attentive, courteous, and friendly. I'd def. go back here again and again and again. Thanks Thai Kitchen for a great late night experience.

I go here 3-4 times a year. I'd go more often but it is not exactly close to where I work, but it is one of the better Thai restaurants in the area. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and is pretty nondescript. But the service is very good once you find the place. One of my favorite dishes is the mango chicken and shrimp from the specials on the wipe board. Always delicious! I have tried many of the other dishes and all have been excellent. Prices are reasonable for lunch - usually about $10 including tax and tip.

In the area visiting my mum. We were both hungry and I told her to go ahead and pick something - I'm cool with what ever. She tells me there are a couple of Thai spots in the immediate area, so she points me in the direction of Thai Kitchen. We walk in, Sunday night, 6pm. The only other patrons were walking out as we walked in. Cool, we have the entire place to ourselves. We're immediately seated and I begin taking mental notes of the decor for my eventual Yelp review: Red carpet, brick walls, white ceiling with recessed lighting. Actually, it had a pretty old school Italian feel. My madre decides to go with one of the evening's specials, Seafood Red Curry. Nice, she IS my mom!... That's exactly what I was going to get! I am then forced to mozy on down to other regions of the menu (quite extensive by the way) and decide upon the Spicy Lamb. When our food comes out, we decide to try the curry first. Typically a favorite of mine, I was trying to find a silver lining in this one. The first thing I noticed was the imitation crab - I mean "Krab". That automatically puts me into a skeptical mode. The scallops may have just been over done, or simply not that fresh, but my brain kept saying, "Maybe they're not real." The squid, more chewy and rubbery than it should be. Real? I dunno. The mussel was absolutely flavorless. How do you do that? There was no silver lining here. Even the sauce wasn't that good. The only reason I'm giving two stars is for the Spicy Lamb. The bamboo shoots were awesome and complimented the lamb beautifully. The crispy basil (how did they do that?) added a perfect touch. The problem is that this wasn't enough to get a better rating from me. Why? Let me remind you, we were the ONLY people in the place, and if that be the case, try paying just a little attention to us. If you're my server, don't make me feel like I'm interrupting YOUR conversation with your colleagues just because I'd like some red chili (Spicy Lamb wasn't spicy at all). Yeah, a definite thumbs down. I'm amazed at the high ratings this place has so far. Maybe I just caught them on a bad night? Too bad I won't be returning to answer that question.

We had lunch here and ordered the BBQ chicken and green curry chicken. The soup (I believe was tamarind soup) was pretty good. The green curry was well seasoned but the chicken was a bit hard. I woke up one day with a hankering for Pad See Ew, and since this place is one of the local Thai places that I have not tried I gave it a try at lunch. By the time I got there it was pretty slow already, but finding this place was kind of difficult since this place is at the end of a run-down strip mall. Its not in either one of asian malls at the very end of the mall. I was seated immediately and they actually have a lunch menu, off course they have See Ew on the menu, and it was promptly placed at my table along with different types of peppers and spices. The See Ew was perfectly cooked, and the whole experience was pleasant but the place inside just looked run-down and too warm. I would definitely come back here to try other Thai yumminess.

I was craving something good for lunch........ didn't want the usual around the office, so I was contemplating getting Thai food from Thai Kitchen. But I was hesitant since I had never done take out from there before and sometimes, take out isn't as good as dine in. Well I was wrong! It was sooo good, so well prepared and when I got to the office, everything was still warm and deelish :) I ordered my fave dish; salad kag (gado gado) and a Thai iced tea. Total came out to about $9.50-somewhat expensive for lunch, but the portions are generous. And the peanut dressing they put on the side? Normally some restaurants give you a small container barely enough to dress your salad, Thai Kitchen practically gave me a Tupperware tub of dressing! Definitely more than enough to get through that whole salad! The service is still great, the ladies there, always so friendly. Now that I know that their take out is just as good as dine-in; I'll definitely be frequenting it more for lunch! xoxo sue ann

My gf and I went there last night. Got one appetizer and three dishes, The appetizer was pretty good, two out of three entrees were pretty good, one so-so. I also had a glass of wine. But it was like in a cognac glass and was tiny., not a wine glass. I don't mind paying for a glass of wine but if you have a restaurant, get wine glasses. When I see someone bring me a little glass like that , It really bummed me out.I mean the building is a 3 out of 10, food 6-7 out of 10 wine glass 1 out of 10, service was 8 out of 10 so pretty good.Our bill was 48 bucks.I thought was a tad high compared to some of the nicer thai places. I think if they spent a little money on silverware, dishes, glasses , REAL WINE GLASSES it would be nicer.

I feel bad that it took me 19 years to step into this place after living in Union City for that long because the Tom Kha Seafood is amazingly delicious that I keep coming back for more! It is mouth watering...The Param Chicken and the Angel Wings also hit the spot, BUT I think the Pad Thai is a little on the sweet side for me.

I've been going here for about 5 years now. I used to live nearby, which is how I discovered it but I recently moved further North. However, I will still drive all the way across town just to order pickup from this place when I'm in the mood for Thai food. It's a family owned business and the staff at Thai Kitchen is always friendly and even know remember what I order as "the usual". It's in a small location and doesn't have a lot of fanfare out front but it's the best Thai food I have ever eaten hands down. I can't rave enough about this place!

There's a reason this place has been around since my family moved to California (in 1984) - good, no frills, authentic food in hearty portions. Don't mind the dark interior or the lack of ambience, Thai or otherwise. You're not there to get laid, you're there to eat. Highly recommend the beef salad and any of the specials they happen to have, as well as the sticky rice with mango for dessert.

So my gf was doing her sisters hair for a prom and ended up taking much longer than expected. Unfortunately that meant that i could not enjoy a dinner over at Red Chili because they closed at 9:30. After driving around for a while, we found Thai Kitchen and decide to give it a shot since they stayed open just a little bit later We ordered the Wild chicken curry (with eggplant), a beef/ basil and veggies dish (forgot the name), steam rice and 2 thai ice teas. The food was okay, nothing out of this word. The beef looked pale to me and lacked flavor. Didn't get that wow factor at all from anything in our main course. The Thai ice tea was done just right though so i'll give them that. We then decided to try their fried ice cream for desert. Basically it was a chinese donut wrapped around a scoop of vanilla ice cream and deep fried to perfection. Had it not been for the orgasmic sensation shared between my woman and I as we savored the crunch and flavors of the ice cream complemented by the deep fried sweet batter on our delicate palates, i just may have wanted to give them a 3/5 rating. I recommend you go to this place if red chili is closed and you absolutely need to satisfy the thai food portion of your tongue OR if you feel you are in the need for that deep fried ice cream orgasm. I kid, go ahead and try the place for yourself.

This is a good place to go for a great meal if you are in the neighborhood. The food is authentic, fresh and presented with appeal. The service is excellent and the staff friendly. The only downside is the decor. They have a few pictures of Thailand hanging on the walls, but other than that, it looks like an outdated barbeque restaurant.

This place is near my house so if I want some Thai food, I come here. But I would come here even if it wasn't near my house. The food is good and the service is great. To-go orders come out pretty fast. Everything I've had here is yummy. I cant remember exactly what I've had but I know I've had pad thai, some sort of sweet and sour chicken, a seafood salad, and some other dishes. Im never disappointed when I get something from here. The place is usually empty but dont let that fool you. You can bring a big group here since its a decently sized restaurant but its also a nice quiet place for two.

I haven't found a better Thai restaurant in the Tri-City area. One of my favorite dishes is Pad Thai, and this place serves the biggest, tastiest, and most affordable plates of Pad Thai i have ever found. I leave very satisfied every time! They're just so friendly, seriously, what more can you ask for?

Since I moved to Fremont, I keep hearing about this place having great Thai food. So I decided for lunch one weekend to try it. The food was good, but not great like it was hyped up to be. I selected my usual Pad Tai. The service is nice and the food was made in good amount of time. The inside is very dark and it has an old Mom & Pop feel to the place. I can see myself coming back to this place in the summer if the heat gets unbearable. Good food and nice place to stay in the shade.

We went on a weekend where they had a big board saying "Todays special - Garlic Salmon" . On their menu I did find Spicy Salmon, I ordered fried rice with Spicy Salmon and I did mention to the waitress that please make sure there is no Garlic in my Salmon. The food comes and the Salmon was soaked in Garlic sauce and had no flavour to it , all I could smell and taste was Garlic . I called the waitress and asked her why does it taste garlic , she said it does come with a lil Garlic paste, I could see the oldman at the cash counter turning around and giggling, thinking that he got away with one more sale of his useless garlic Salmon. Little do they realize the power of costumer reviews.

Love this place, truly great and cheap. I love coming here and ordering satay chicken and honey BBQ chicken. The pad Thai is not bad and the peanut sauce is the best peanut sauce ever, I put it on everything especially the rice, make sure to order about 5 sides because you'll need it. Once you're done ODing on peanut sauce make sure to order the deep fried banana and ice cream, damn that's a good way to finish the meal. Try ordering the dessert when you order the food because it's made to order and it takes a bit. You may be wondering "why is this guy not rating this place a five star" well the answer is simple, they charge for peanut sauce when you order to go, they don't charge a lot but honestly it should just be free, who cares if I order enough to cover my wife and eat it off her sexy body.... Damn it I love that peanut sauce!!!!!

This is one of the most affordable and good food that I've ran into in a while. You wouldn't be able to guess that this restaurant was good. It's safe to say what ever u decide to get, its gonna taste good. My two top favorite dishes would be the roast duck fried rice and the crispy salmon dish. Try to go during lunch time to have some of there complementary Thai soup. i go here at least twice a week and still not sick of it.

No.. no.. no... I say no to anymore Thai places with MSG and loads of salt. Thank you very much... Decided to try this place for a quick lunch after dropping my son at Daycare. Hubby got the calamari salad, and I got the chicken kao prao or whatever (spicy chicken,basil and bamboo) Salty as hell...previously frozen (now stinky) chicken. MSG laden (rapid palpitations post-lunch)... The ambiance was bad..very dirty.. Service was standard. My favorite still stands at Sala Thai..darn..they had better pay me,the amount I spend there and # of times I eat there.

I was a Thai virgin. For years, I wouldnt try ANY ethnic food. Taco Bell was as Mexican as I would get, and Chinese food just plain looked wierd. So as I got older I tried authentic Mexican food and loved it. And then I learned that Chinese restaurants are different from each other. But I would NOT go to a Thai restaurant. Nope. Uh uh. Don't they eat dog? I have paid for my ignorance dearly because I've gone years without the savory, tangy spicy goodness that is Thai food. My friend Tristan introduced me. Being half British, I thought him worldly and sophisticated because he wears Ben Sherman clothes and has the Union Jack on his door and knows Berkeley really well. I didn't want to look gauche. When he asked me if I'd tried Thai food, I immediately said no. But to impress him I told him I'd try it. He brought me to Thai Kitchen and I've never been the same. We ordered Chicken Tom-Yum soup. Not only is it pretty to behold in the fired pot with the sterno sparkling beneath, the scent of savory-tart goodness causes immediate drooling a la Homer Simpson. I'm not a big fan of the shrooms, but there's plenty of broth, chicken, cilantro and lemongrass. It's sooooo good, especially when you're sick. The Thai spring rolls are crispy and flavorfull and come with an excellent dipping sauce. The crunchy outside and the hot shredded inside complimented each other so well! The Cashew Nut Chicken has many subltle flavors. You can get it spicy, too. The taste hits you first, then the heat. This is one dish that you really enjoy each crunchy mouthful. I love how the chicken is good quality pieces, not grayish brown mystery meat like some restaurants serve. For personal reasons of gastric distress reduction, I rarely mix types of meat within a meal. However, I've never had any problems after eating here, so we always get the Honey BBQ Beef. It's always seasoned perfectly. It's subtle flavor perfectly enhances the very spicy Ka-Prao rice. I love moderate to very spicy food. But I'm picky. I want to be able to appreciate the flavor before I put my mouth through an herbal autoclave. This rice dish does that perfectly. Its fragrant, slightly jasmine taste starts out mellow then performs an all-out sneak attack with heat. It's heaven and hell on a plate. The service is wonderful. Your glass is always full to help cool a burning mouth. They are friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. Whatever the season or weather this is always a favorite eatery! AND OMG I left here so full, I hurt for an hour afterward. But it was a happy hurt.

This place is DA BOMB! Stumbled upon it in a little strip mall when I lived in UC for 1.5 yrs and turned into a regular. I love so much of the food that this will turn into their menu if I list them all, but the Honey BBQ Pork deserves a mention as it's my favorite. The prices at this place are superb - around $6 a dish. My family of 4 eats there for under $30 if we don't take leftovers (but we love to order a wide variety and have it the next day too). The ambiance is pretty awful, but the waitresses are really nice and the service is good.

My roommate got some pad thai from here so I decided to check it out. Their beef ka-prao is delicious. Intially when I opened the box I was disappointed to see their ka-prao wasn't the diced beef I'm used to but OMG was it good! It's a perfect blend of garlic, basil, bamboo shoots, and peppers. I love spicy food and this dish is definitely spicy to my liking AND I didn't even have to ask! This is for sure going to be one of my go to restaurants while I'm living in Union City.

First time customer even earlier today though I've lived in Union City practically my whole life. I have to say, I was very skeptical about the place when you see the outside but it was kinda cool on the inside. I did go with a friend during lunch time and I've got to say that it's just a chill place to eat during lunch. Plus, you can't beat lunch prices! $6.50 plus tax and tip for soup, salad, rice, and main dish!! Awesome! I've only tried Thai food a couple of times but this place is good! It's not a fancy restaurant but it's good enough for my taste!

I love this place! I hope the waitress still works there, but when I went there a month ago, she still remembered what drink I wanted, what soup I usually ordered... etc. I recommend the Honey BBQ Pork. It's so insanely good. The Tom Yum Seafood is really good too. The Pad Thai hasn't been quite as good lately, but you should still definitely try this place out.

I would give this place about 3.5 - 3.75 Stars. Good food, quick service, fair prices, and less than 5 minutes from home. Could I ask for more? I highly recommend their pad thai, yellow curry, and beef satay. All of the dishes I've had here were tasty and satisfying Although the place is in dire need of updated decor, it is still a comfy place to eat with your family or a couple of close friends. You can't really compare Thai Kitchen to other places in Berkeley or SF, especially if you factor in the serious lack of quality restaurants in Union City. This restaurant wouldn't win any awards for their food, but if you are in the area and you're craving some decent Thai food and you don't want to drive, just come here. It's good enough!

Ok, I have to revise my review. As of now, this is my favorite Thai place. They don't seem to be very busy sometimes - probably due to the location behind a gas station in a strip mall. You can immediately tell that their ingredients are fresh. The service is fast and great. The food is delicious. So far the following dishes have been tested and approved! Pad See Ew (Chicken and beef) - sweet, savory, and delicious Mussumum curry beef Honey BBQ Pork Honey BBQ chicken Custard with rice dessert - I LOVE custard, this was hella good. It's like a Thai flan on top of sticky coconut rice. Honey bananas and ice cream - REALLY good here. I've had bad fried bananas before. Prices are extremely reasonable; everything we had was under $8 and the desserts are $3. We ordered 5 desserts, and 7 plates. With tax and tip, it was $11/pp (total 7 people). Love it! No more My Thai, Simply Thai, and *shudders* Thai Orchid. UPDATE: The green beans with chicken and chili is not so good here. Much better at My Thai.

Been living in the area for years and never thought to eat at Thai Kitchen due to it's location and look from the outside. It can seem a little dark, murky and uninviting but once you pass the threshold its a GREAT choice, one of the best Thai restaurants in the Tri-city area. Very reliable food- the best every time no matter what time of day. Absolutely love the YELLOW CURRY WITH CHICKEN paired with their PINEAPPLE CASHEW FRIED RICE (the best combo). If you're not big on the spice then they definitely take it down a notch and it taste just as good as when it's super spiced.

This place has GREAT food! The waitstaff/managers are friendly and pretty quick. Decor - ooh no. Think 70's style, kinda dark, with wall decorations in need of dusting, wood furnishings thats been out of style twice! But that's definitely not why you're there. The food is off the hook! I'm quite surprised by the high ratings this place has received. One thing I like about this place is that our waitress wore the custom Thai apparel. The service was above average. As far as food goes, I can't quite grasp what was missing. As a Thai food critique that I am, this place just didn't do it for me. It's missing the strong spices/herbs that I am used to. Pad Thai - Soggy noodles. Honey BBQ Chicken - Not what I expected... period. lol This spicy beef dish - This was the highlight of the meal. Combination Fried Rice - Not bad, but not great either. Thai Ice Tea - Sweet but yummy! It was an experience, but not an experience that I would want to experience again. (Khawp khun kha)

When I walked in my first time I didnt know if I should dine in or take out. It was dark so I wanted to leave. But I decided to drink a couple singhas while I waited for my food. I was looking at the menu and it all looked good. But what I wanted wasnt on the menu. I asked for my kee mao noodle and they said that the chef could make it special for me. I was excited. So I ordered a tom yum while I waited. The tom yum was so good I decided to dine in and experience the whole sha-bam. When my kee mao came out I was so excited. It was like great grandmas drunken noodle... truley authentic in every way. Perfect. 10 stars. Nobody is giving this place the true respect it demands. This is the best Thai restaurant in the east bay. Since my first time here I have to eat here at least once a week. The portions are huge and I always leave full with leftovers for the next day. We had green curry seabass, red curry duck and wild curry seafood and all three were very good and the prices were very reasonable. Verdict: If you usually fly by Union City on 880, stop and give this hidden gem a try and you might be stopping in more often.

this is a legit thai spot. we have been reduced to sticking to the yellow curry and tom kha soup since it's just the two of us eating, but before i put on 25 lbs, we would order the tom kha chicken soup, yellow curry, fried rice, pad thai or pad see ew, all of which were very good and probably contributed to the extra comfort weight.

i came here for my walk around no where-ness never knew this place existed so close to home.. my intent was to just grab a menu.. not to order a large snack and desert to carry home with me... haha... but they are the ones that put up a stall at the thai temple in union city the thai temple holds fairs and lunches so it must be good if its pre-approved by the thai community.. they also have ALOT of news articles taped onto their walls so they also have a good reputation i think i got a curry and mango sticky-rice.. think it was 2 orders.. i love mango and stick-rice.. i hope to come back to try the rest of their menu.. they seem to be doing very well over the years :D

Thai Kitchen kicks the butt of pretty much every other Thai place in this area. But maybe that's just because when I go here, I always order from the regular menu instead of getting lunch plates. The specials are, indeed, special. Recent good ones are: lemongrass fish (an entire fish fried and tasty sauce spooned over) and spicy salmon. As others have noted, the price is right, too. Decor, nada, service, nada.

i don't know what it is, but i think maybe there's crack in this food that makes it uber-tasty. the bf and i went just to try out a new place and it has quickly become our #1 thai place in the area. we ordered waayyy too much food, but had our stomachs been able to handle it, we would have scarfed it all down. * beef salad * crying tiger (as we found out, it's very similar to the beef salad, but different sauce) * tom kha chicken soup * cucumber salad * honey bbq chicken all that and a thai iced tea = $39.98 or around there all of those were probably some of the best i've had--or at least the best i've had in a long time. kudos to you, thai kitchen! you will be seeing us again soon! the interior could use a bit of sprucing up, but that doesn't detract from the yummy-ness of the food, so it's only a minor sticking point.

The bf, family and I always go here. Why not? It's cheap and YUMMY! We're always on a hunt for tasty pad thai and this is by far the most consistent restaurant. It's situated in an old complex.. The exterior is not very inviting.. one of would think it's not good at all because of its appearance.. but don't be fooled. Once you go in, it's very authentic and would have never expected the antiquity of the interiors. What we usually order: Chicken Satay Spicy pad thai(of course) cheapest pad thai in the area. Chicken Panang and for dessert, sweet rice and mango. When the bf and i dine in, they usually give us a lot but when we order to go, it's less. Hmmm.. Oh and they also let you bring in a bottle of your own wine. So, definitely bring a dessert white wine, Moscato perhaps? Barefoot or Beringer or if you ever been to Sterling Vineyard in Napa, buy the Malvasia Bianca.. it really goes well with spicy asian cuisine.

The place is old and rundown but that's fine, Ive eaten at places that were far more rundown but still kept the place clean. My glass smelled like fish, my fork had dried up food in between, and there were flies all over the place.

I use to like this place until I came in this evening. After a long day trip, we were all craving for Thai food, so we brought our friends here because we throughly enjoyed the food. This review is strictly on customer service, not the food. As we walked in we were greeted and seated promptly. We ordered our food and the food came in a timely matter. My friend has a 19 month old child, that is learning to feed himself. He was behaving very well, but a little messy when he feeds himself. But mine you, he is 19 months old learning. He didn't purposely throw the food on the ground, he missed his mouth while feeding himself. The owner of the restaurant approached us, and told my friend "Next time can you guys need be cleaner and not be so messy? And that we should of told them he was messy so they can put paper on the ground" My friend gave no attitude and said "No problem, but he is 19 months and he is learning to feed himself" My boyfriend, is the god father to this darling 19 months old and was very upset since 1. We brought our friends to this restaurant. 2. They disrespected us. 3. You don't approach people and talk to people this way. You are NO fine dining restaurant, you are a hole in a wall restaurant. So my boyfriend was watching the owner stare at our table talking about us, to her employees. So my boyfriend Joe, shouted out, "Do you have a problem with us? If you do, I will be glad to vacuum the floor for you. Do you need me to clean for you too?, cause its sounds like you have a problem cleaning" Again, the owner's facial expressions says it all, starting at our table, talking about us. This restaurant is not a kid friendly restaurant, I don't recommend anyone who has younger children to come here. I am very disappointed in this place and I am embarrassed we brought our friends here. Because of how they treated us, they loss a loyal customer. Fine dining, hole in a wall restaurants.. it doesn't matter, at the end of the day we all clean up. This is apart of the business, you never know who will come in the restaurant. You treat everyone equally and the same. If I could, I would of rated 0 stars to this place.

So until I met my lovely fiancÃ©e I had never experienced Thai food. This is about the fourth place I have tried with her and this is the preferred place. The owner is always there and happy to see you come in. My soon to be family pick this place for all the large celebrations because they are so willing to accommodate our large party. Their pineapple fried rice is to die for. I don't know if the pineapple is fresh cut but it is always so sweet and full of flavor. The pad Thai is very good also. This is one of my favorite Thai places. I have been going here for years, the funny thing is that I don't know any of the employees' names. The ladies who work the front counter and serve the food are extremely nice and patient. I bring my kids (1, 3, and 5) here a lot and the employees genuinely make us feel welcome. I usually get the Thai kitchen fried rice, honey bbq pork, and garlic prawns. I also get soup and noodles. If you have tried them, DO IT NOW. it's sooooo good. I randomly stumbled upon this Thai restaurant when looking for some place to eat dinner with my friends. It was one of the places that had more overall stars so we decided to check it out and dine here. This place was easy to find, especially when I rarely come to this side of Union City. Parking was a breeze and we got a spot right in front, too. Since it was a somewhat late dinner (at around 8pm), there wasn't much of a crowd. The place is kind of small but very culturally decorated, if you get what I mean. We were greeted and seated immediately. The server was very polite and nice. We were handed menus and we were given water right after, too. What quick service! We spent some time to decide what we wanted to eat. We weren't all that hungry since we had a late lunch so we decided to order only a few dishes. We decided to choose one dish each among the three of us. They have a huge selection on everything, whch was pretty great (but we had so much to choose from). We ended up ordering the Pad Thai with shrimp, Green Chili Beef, Yellow Curry with chicken and two orders of steam rice. The food was very good. The Pad Thai was typical, but I wish they had more shrimp in there though. The beef was decent also and it's a good out of the ordinary dish to the regular Thai dishes. The curry was lovely and it's so yummy with the rice! It's simple yet so delicious. All of our dishes were very good and we were pretty filled by only three dishes. It's definitely not the best Thai food I've had, but it's pretty up there! I would come back if I'm ever in the area. It's also pretty cheap considering the total came out to be less than $30 for three dishes and steam rice. It's yummy and affordable, so you can't go wrong with this place!

Cozy mom and pop Thai spot that seems rather out of place in that somewhat sketch complex but certainly lives up to its 4 star tag. We got the: Veggie Pad kee Mao - simple and spicy noodle dish that's like a basily spicy version of Chow fun Smoked chili chicken - unique dish compared to what you find at most Thai places (red/green/yellow curry, ginger chicken, basil chicken, etc). For the birthday boy, they brought us this amazing platter of fried bananas and ice cream, with a candle! It was a wonderful surprise! They are so attentive and treat their customers so well. Not sure what everyone is raving about... I've tried Thai in Norcal (mainly SJ and Milpitas) and Socal and this place was subpar as is most places in the Bay Area compared to Socal. I had the combination pad thai and spicy salmon. Pad thai was super oily, no spice (even though I did ask for it) and only had two shrimps and no bean sprouts. Salmon was decent but a little dry and the sauce was really oily and weird tasting - I'm glad it was on the side and the salmon 2as not drenched in it. Thai iced coffee was also very sweet. The hunt for good thai in Norcal continues... They also forgot our rice for the take out order!

I was so excited to eat here last night after reading the rave reviews but I was kinda disappointed. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't great either. I was worried that it would be packed on a Saturday night but when we got there around 7 pm, there were only a few parties dining in. We were promptly seated and looked through the menu. They offer typical Thai dishes so we decided on calamari, pad see ew with chicken, and red curry with duck. The calamari came first. The calamari was large rings of squid instead of smaller pieces. This made it a bit difficult to eat since they were freshly fried and were still (temperature) hot. I cut each of the rings up into a few pieces, which caused the breading to break off. The pad see ew was alright. It seemed to be lacking just a bit more flavor. It tasted slightly under seasoned. I love duck curry. I'll order it at almost every Thai restaurant that I go to. With that said, I prefer it with basil. I don't love bell peppers and their duck curry had both red and green. It also has cucumbers in it. There also wasn't as much duck as I would've liked but I get that that's the bulk of the cost in a curry. We were going to get dessert but just wanted to leave instead. I did appreciate that they don't just leave their hot sauces out. The presentation is super cute with the metal basket and glass jars. I also loved the presentation of the rice. Most places will bring you rice in a plain, small white bowl. The serving of rice was large and came in a pretty bowl with its own lid. The staff is very nice but I don't think we'll be back. Also, totally agree with what most other Yelpers said. The portions are on the smaller side for sure.

All of the dishes I got were tasty, but everything was too greasy for my taste. Honey BBQ Pork (4/5): Well cooked, with a nice, sweet flavor. Duck Ka Prao Fried Rice (3/5): The rice had a nice flavor, but it was pretty greasy. Also, the amount of duck was pretty small. It would have been nice if there were more meat.

OMG! This place is so good! I didn't know there was a Thai restaurant in Union City. I came here couple times with my boyfriend and so far its has been good. You can either dine-in or take out, both are good options that I've done. First time coming in, my boyfriend tried the pad see eww with pork and he fell in love with it. The food was hot, and they gave the proper ratio of meat and noodle. For me, I got the beef fried rice with basal. It was delicious. They were not stingy with their ingredients which was a thumbs up. So far this is my favorite Thai restaurant. This place exactly makes legit Thai food, not the imitation ones. Also, the price is decent, each dish is around $8, not too expensive to enjoy. When my boyfriend and I don't have the time to dine-in, we usually order take out and their pretty fast with the orders. It usually takes them about 20 mins., so when we're driving there we already estimate the time, and when we get there we can pay and leave. Their take out is the same size as dining in. So they don't give you less for your bucks. So worth it!! Just love this place!

Came back here with the little sister for lunch and the experience wasn't as great this time. We ordered the chicken satay as an appetizer, pad see eew again, garlic prawns, and fried banana with coconut ice cream for desert. They give complementary vegetable soup at the beginning of the meal and it was nice and tangy. Chicken satay - chicken on a stick that came with peanut sauce and some veges. It was delicious and I actually preferred it without the sauce. There were 6 slices/sticks and we munched those down. My little sister really enjoyed them too. Pad see eew - my sister ordered this and she got this last time too. I think she liked it more the previous time because it was her first time trying it but it was okay. The noodles were nice and thick but a bit oily. One of the reasons I'm giving this review 2 stars is because when we heated it up at home (we took it home because we couldn't finish it) the chicken tasted totally funky. My sister and I both had to spit it out. Gross, I know. So I don't know what was up with that chicken but it definitely could not handle a reheat. Garlic Prawns - Last time I got Yellow Curry chicken, something I always get on my fist visit to any thai place. This time, I tried something new, so I got the Garlic Prawns. It comes with rice. While the prawns had great flavor, the sauce of the dish is just oil. Like literally, there was rice, prawns, and a sea of oil. It's not the greatest feeling to eat a mixture of rice and oil in my experience. I will definitely not get this again in the future if I come back. Fried Banana and coconut ice cream - I personally don't like coconut ice cream but my sister does so my review for this is a little biased. I really liked the fried banana but would have preferred it with the vanilla ice cream. Definitely recommended it you have a sweet too. Overall, this experience wasn't as good as the last. I may come back but probably not for a while. Definitely won't get the pad see eew or garlic prawns every again but from my previous review it seems that I did like the yellow curry so if I'm ever craving, I'll get it for take out.

Spicy Beef Salad.... This is the dish I have been craving and everywhere else so far got it wrong (ground beef???) Thai Kitchen does it right.. the way out is supposed to be. I recommend two orders of rice along with it. Perfect blend of spicy and sour. Everything was fresh and well prepared. Bravo!!!

Honey BBQ Pork: this really reminded me of Vietnamese thit nuong, but more savory and sweet. It had this really charred crispiness to it that added depth to the flavors. The dip on the side I thought enhanced the sweetness, but without it, the pork was still really good. Duck Ka Prao Fried Rice: every Thai restaurant I've been to seems to execute the fried rice well. This was your standard fried rice, although it seemed like it wasn't well stirred, because some spoons were better seasoned than say the next. * Welcome Experience - Discouraging ::sigh:: yep another one of "those" places. No welcome experience. Just an owner (I'd guess) seemingly surprised I was standing there. I had to explain that I was there for dinner. Really? * Establishment - discouraging Was fine I guess. The entrance is lined with tawdry fake holly leaves / berries that collect dust. (Bad first impression.) * Service - Discouraging The food drop-off fly-by was comical. We were one of three tables in the place. (Didn't seem busy) but the same owner that seated us dumped the three plates and took off. Yes I would have liked chopsticks, yes I would have liked another plate. No luck. Had to walk to the front counter where another surprised staffer took my requests. Also ended up carrying the check to the counter at the end since we weren't likely going to see anyone any time soon. * Food Quantity / Quality / Presentation - Discouraging I wish I could say that the lack of service was tolerable because the food was great but I can't. The papaya salad (pic) was full of green beans that were spotted and old. The papaya isn't shredded but chopped way too coarse. Tomatoes were flaccid and warm. The one I make at home is much better! The crying tiger beef (pic) was a tough, overcooked, underseasoned sliced slab of beef. Absolutely boring. The accompanying sauce was very tasty. (A blend of water, soy, Serrano peppers and garlic.) The sauce is very hot and spicy. I liked it! Made the beef somewhat tolerable. I'd avoid that! The chicken satay was rubbery and overcooked. The peanut sauce was bland and boring. * Stuff that isn't important but I felt it was worth mentioning There's one small flat screen tv on the wall that seems oddly out of place. Not sure why it's there. * What I'll remember That crying tiger sauce! It's similar to a version it make at home! * What I can't wait to forget Where the place is lol! This was my experience tasting and eating Thai food. I really enjoyed the Tom Yum Goong soup with prawns, papaya salad and the pad Thai. I had never tasted such unique tastes, between the sweet, hot and sour. My sister in law and her boyfriend having been coming here for 20 years and the food is always consistently good. I suggest if ever in the area, give them a try!

This is my absolute favorite new Thai restaurant in the East bay! A union city gem. Thai Kitchen is my favorite with comparison to Sala Thai, Red Chili. Me and my family usually dine here and we order their pineapple fried rice, yellow curry chicken, pad thai and thai tea. For 4-5 people, these three entrees always seem to be enough to get us all full. Their yellow curry chicken is the best I've ever had with all the right amounts of spices. I can literally eat the yellow curry sauce and rice by itself. They don't skimp on the chicken proportions either! The Thai tea here is the creamiest Thai tea ever I love it. I cannot have a meal without it!

A lot of good reviews for this place. The Pros: took the Yelper way out and ordered the Thai Ice Tea and Yellow Curry. The tea was good - no different than any other Thai Tea I have tried. The curry was very good....BUT...there was something bizarre about the chicken: rubbery. Like it had a funky taste and was squid-like in texture. So I just pushed it to the side and tried to enjoy the rest of the dish like the non-vegetarian that I am. I would have rated the place 4 stars if it weren't for that culinary 'treat'. The service was very friendly and fast. I'd probably give them another try in the future..

There's nothing like Thai food to warm you up when you're a bit under the weather. Not feeling too hungry, we ordered a combination clear soup and rard-nah seafood (flat noodles smothered with seafood and vegetables). The soup was really flavorful. It was filled with a variety of vegetables, tofu and chicken. The rard-nah seafood was also really good. They didn't skimp on the seafood; it came in big pieces. I was actually quite impressed with the food. The service wasn't the best, but I already knew I would be coming back again when I had the food. It could've been what we ordered, but both the soup and noodles were very garlicky. So if you like garlic, I'd highly suggest giving Thai Kitchen a try.

I've honestly been coming to this place with my family since the beginning of time. And some godly figure HAS to be watching over this cute Thai place for them to have dodged that fire many years ago! But jah bless their souls for serving up solid Thai food every damn day. My boyfriend and I loooove coming here, especially when we want great food for a decent price. We always order the Pad Thai, Green Curry with Chicken, and two thai teas. All for less than $25? Niiiiice. *Sidenote Panang curry is also SUPER good! It's more rich and creamy than the Green Curry. Their Pad Thai is a bit on the sweet side which is still good and the curry is your typical runny, flavorful curry. The level of spice varies every visit. But they definitely never disappoint. The owners are super nice and the service is great too! It seldom ever gets really packed bc it's a place only the locals really know about and go to but it'll always be my fav Thai place.

The food was edible and the restaurant is literally 5 mins away from my home. We had: Pineapple Fried Rice Pad kee mow Chicken and Pad Thai I thought their pad thai was the best out of the three we ordered for my family for takeout that day and it was very flavorful but still was mediocre compared to other thai food I've had in the bay area. The pineapples in the pineapple fried rice didn't taste very good and were bland. I thought the pad kee mow chicken's noodles could have had more flavor to them and they could have added more soy sauce to it. Overall, it was okay but they could try to improve the cooking a bit.

Ive lived in union city all my life and not until a few years ago, i finally tried out this place with friends. It made me wonder, what took me so long?! Now its my husband and i's favorite date night restaurant. Its super lowkey and the food is DELICIOUS! We always order the same sh*t though lol. Thai tea, garlic prawns or fried prawns, rice, pra ram chicken, chicken see ew, and their fried honey banana with vanilla ice cream. They serve big portions, so theres always leftovers too :) Highly recommended, hidden gem! Thank god this place didn't burn down from that crazy fire.

My go to spot for Thai food whenever I am craving it. I've been going to this place with my family since I was a little girl. I think most of the staff remember us too and they are so friendly. Food: Pretty much tried most of the dishes on the menu but I have my favorites. Appetizer - chicken satay and fish cakes. Entrees - honey bbq pork, green curry duck, pra ram beef (the peanut sauce is sooo good) and pad thai. The thai ice tea is good too, sometimes more on the sweet side so I have to add water but still good. They have separate menus for lunch and dinner so for dinner time, it's more of a family style thing. Service: Staff is super attentive. Always filling our water cups when empty and refilling our rice when needed. I know some people may be a bit turned off since the rest of the plaza is pretty deserted but that means plenty of parking! Try this place if you want good Thai food, you won't regret it.

Landing here for dinner was really random. My boyfriend was really hungry and wanting fried chicken so we decided to find a local restaurant that was open at the time and that would cater to his cravings. Sadly they didn't serve fried chicken like he wanted, but we still stayed and ordered food. There were only two parties when we walked in, so they were very attentive to us. I'm writing this review based on the 3 things we ordered: the egg rolls, thai beef fried rice, and chicken satay. The fried egg rolls were probably the best thing we ordered on the menu. The chicken satay felt a little dry and bland to me, but the sauce added more flavor to it. The fried rice was alright. I've definitely had fried rice that was a lot better at other Thai restaurants I've gone too. I'll probably try the pineapple fried rice that people rave about on here next time I go here to try something different. Service was good, ambiance was alright, and I'll be back here maybe in the future. Not the best Thai restaurant I've been too but I'll give them another chance to try their dishes that they're known best for.

Ordered the delicious pad Thai to go but only wanted tofu in it. When I opened it up to eat, it had vegetables which I was not happy about but apparently thats what all restaurants do when you only order tofu, so I called back and they gladly remade it for me since I wasn't happy. Why all the rave reviews? I'm thinking a lot of these people either don't know good Thai food or maybe it was just an off day. I'm thinking the former. We ordered the pad kee mao, pad se-ew, and the roti. None of it was good. The noodle dishes had a weird taste to them and the roti was basically like eating grease. I've eaten at a lot of different Thai places and I'd say stay away from this one.

Came here with my brother for lunch on a weekday. We started off with the satay chicken skewers which was delicious with their peanut sauce. Afterwards, we shared the chicken pad see yew and the chicken ka prao fried rice. Both dishes were mediocre and the pad see yew even had a weird burnt taste to it. As soon as you step in the door you're overwhelmed with the smell of deliciousness. The first time I tried Thai kitchen was for take out , after we checked all the reviews we decided on some items we wanted and stopped in. We ordered at the counter as opposed to a phone order. They were super quick with the order. I just barely had the time to walk across the parking lot and grab a drink at the liquor store, maybe 15 minutes. We ordered a ton of take out so we could get a feel for the style and flavor: Gallic Pork Pineapple Fried Rice Pad Thai Green Curry Beef Honey BBQ Pork Spring Rolls The Pad Thia was average, nothing amazing. The Pineapple Fried rice also was sort of average, but when I say average I mean good. It's not one of those things that can really be totally amazing. The Honey BBQ Pork was not what I was expecting at all, I wonder if it would be different if we had been dinning in now that I think about it. It was large pieces of pork, grilled with a very flavorful honey sauce to put over it, the sauce came in a container on the side. The Garlic Pork was great, really flavorful. Now the Green Curry Beef was amazing. Rich green Curry sauce and tons of veggies and beef. Of all the things we ordered the green curry is absolutely hands down the one thing I would order again. This came to about $50 and feed 5 of us, and we had a bunch of leftovers for lunch the next day. What a great deal!

This place is a hidden gem. Really nice dining setup, the servers are nice and polite. They really cook the food fresh and hot. Not many people go here but my girlfriend and I have been regulars every now and then. And we both love it. Over all this place is nice if you're looking for a great Thai food.

Come for: rad na Skip: if you're hungry Food is good here. Portions are on the smaller size though. If you're ordering out, give them a good 20 minutes at least to get the food ready. Their prices also vary between their lunch and dinner menu. Not by much and not all dishes but expect a premium.

I don't come here often, but whenever I do, it's always been consistently good! This place has one of the best tom yum soup I've had so far. I also tried the see-ew vegetable today thinking that it might be bland, but it turned out to be packed with flavors! The red curry tofu was good, but I've had better. I've been coming to Thai Kitchen for years and it has been consistent for the most part. Thai Kitchen is home to my first Thai food experience which has made Thai one of my favorite cuisines. I recommend: - Pad thai: They make a good pad thai that's flavorful and moist. Not overly spicy like some places. Although the pad thai has been inconsistent on some occasions, it's still one of my favorite dishes. - Honey BBQ grilled pork: Perfectly grilled with the best tangy dipping sauce. - Garlic prawns: Lots of garlic with a little spice. They give you decently sized prawns. - Yellow curry chicken: Good consistency and flavor. It also comes with potatoes and carrots. They have the best service! You can always expect your water to be filled and your needs to be met promptly. The woman who is usually there (I believe she's the owner) remembers my mom and is always friendly. They also have plate lunch specials as well as traditional Thai desserts and drinks. The restaurant could use some renovation and brighter lighting but that hasn't stopped me from coming here over the years. Thai Kitchen will always be my go-to place for Thai food.

Went here with my mom around 12 noon on a Saturday. The service was fast, considering that they were busy. The server was also friendly. We ordered chicken satay, yellow lamb curry, shrimp pad thai, steamed rice and thai iced coffee. All were very good and the prices & servings were also reasonable. We had a lot of left overs. The food that we ordered was good for 3-4 people. We will definitely come back.

I guess those ratings are from some years back because like others below are saying , it really has gone downhill Ordered calamari, musa(sum thing) beef, and ton yum soup. Only received 5 pieces of not so good tasting calamari for $8 def not worth. Beef was small serving also and was stale n flavorless from being boiled in broth for too long. Based on the reviews, we decided to try this place out for a family dinner. I noticed that their menu was very basic with just the typical Thai dishes. We ordered about 8 dishes that included papaya salad, soup, curries, stir fries, rice, and noodle. The food was good, but nothing really special. Portions were kind of small too. I think I've been spoiled by food in the City.

I have been living in the Fremont/Union City for most of my life and I have only eaten here around 3 times ever. I love Thai food, but this place does not really hit the spot for me. Pineapple Fried Rice: I give it a 2/5. It is edible and okay-tasting, but I would not order it again. It was sort of bland and on the squishy side (rice a bit overcooked/too much rice that time?) Maybe I came on an off day but I am not a fan. Satay Chicken: 5/5 YUMMM! The chicken is flavorful but the servings are small imo. I'm glad that the meat given is all meat and not like other places that skimp by leaving the fat on. Choo Chee Tofu: 3/5 I prefer curry that is thick like gravy. The curry at this place is thin like water, but still has flavor. It was average, definitely not spectacular. The serving size was also okay, but not enough for me to take home enough food to make another meal (which I usually do at most restaurants). Also, make sure you confirm the spice level with them! The server asked me "Do you like spicy?" and I just answered "yes". I just assumed she would have given me a medium level of spice since she did not ask me for a level, but upon looking at my receipt it said "very spicy". Not that I do not like spicy I do, but I do not like extremely spicy thai food (thai spice is a whole new level!) when I'm very hungry because it just feels like acid since my stomach is empty. I wanted to be able to really taste the flavor of the dish, not let it overpower the flavor so I just feel burning and tingling. The prices are average, and the service is great! Food comes out fast and they are attentive to refilling your water and checking up on you throughout the meal. It is a decent place to eat but I do see myself craving for any of their food (that I have tried so far that is). I am still on the look out for a new favorite local Thai Restaurant since Mortar Pestle closed down. Let me know if you have any suggestions in the Fremont/Union City/Newark area!

Had dinner here with a group of 8, the restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday night although we arrived fairly late relative to usual dinner times. We decided to split our checks between half the table. Our side of the table ordered the tom kha soup with coconut milk, chicken fried rice, pad kee mao, and green curry. My favorite was probably the tom kha soup which with coconut milk, which came with chicken and mushroom pieces. Excellent flavor and very satisfying. The rest of the dishes were pretty good as well, all up to standard compared to other Thai restaurants. The portions are pretty generous so it makes it easy to family style.

This place is decent if you're looking for some quick, everyday Thai food but if you're looking for quality Thai food I'd probably go elsewhere. I got their thai tea which was too sugary, I ended up pouring some water in it so that it was drinkable. Also ordered the tom yum seafood soup which was decent but the vegetables in the soup didn't seem that fresh. The beef pad kee mau was probably the best thing I ordered but it was very oily. Also got the green curry with chicken which was also decent but it was really sweet, so I had to eat it with a lot of rice. Overall I wouldn't go out of the way to eat here, but I'd come back if I was craving Thai food and it was convenient.

This place is my favorite Thai restaurant around, aside from my other fav in Berkeley. Any dish you have is extremely delicious, with a great amount and price! What more could you ask for? Certain dishes I love here is the Tom Yum Soup or the Coconut soup. I also love the Ka Prow fried rice and pineapple fried rice. All the meat dishes are tasty. Even their desserts are amazing. I love the Thai halo halo/Siamese gems. I'm half Filipino, and I can honestly say I prefer this instead. The owner is amazing and friendly. Along with the other staff on board. One of the servers however in particular, I don't take a liking to as she does not check up on us like the rest of the staff, and just puts the food on the table in an unorganized way. Other than that the rest of the staff is amazing. They have their own lot that is huge. Don't be intimidated that it is empty inside because the food is amazing. The prices are just fantastic. A small place, yet great food! Especially the pineapple fried rice! I never had fried rice like this before. It had cashew nuts, pineapples, and raisins along with the rice! So yummy! Great customer service. I definitely recommend coming here to try out. I will come again. :-)

Yah! I'm a fan now of this place! Came here with family while visiting for the holiday weekend. It's a small hole in the wall place. Hole in the wall places are the best!! Service is good too. Friendly staffs. We ordered our USUALS that we would at any Thai places: (gosh, we are so boring!) *Chicken pad thai with shrimp - As a noodleholic, this was delicious. Chicken wasn't dry or under-cooked. Overall just a yummy dish. I don't recall ever having bad pad thai! (5/5) *Yellow chicken curry - My favorite! A slight sweetness of the curry. The chicken wasn't dry. (5/5) *Papaya salad - Uhhh..a bit too spicy for me. =( I much rather just eat the papaya fruit itself!!! (2/5) *Thom yum coconut soup - A touch of lemongrass! Delicious warm yummy soup! (5/5) *Thai iced tea - love it. love it. love it. addicted to this. just enough sweetness. (5/5) Another cool thing about this place is that they have vegetarian dishes! =) So come on by and give this place a try. If you're in a hurry, you can also do take-out. Mediocre to subpar Thai food. Came here to pick up a to go order for dinner. Food came quickly after I ordered - about 10 minutes. Tom Yum Soup - This was decent... My dish of the night. Nothing special though. Pad Thai - Weird flavor. Something was off, but I can't pinpoint what it was. The noodles are thinner than the typical noodles that come with this dish. Also, the tofu was small and hardly had any in it. Papaya Salad - Don't bother. I got this dish extra spicy and it wasn't spicy AT ALL. I brought it home and my sister asked if I got no spicy. What a fail. There's hardly any flavor to it as well. Ka-Prao Beef - NOT ground beef but is instead slices pieces of meat. The meat was tough. I got this regular spicy and I could actually taste the heat a little bit (unlike the papaya salad). Very oily and greasy but flavors were okay. Overall: This place is decently priced (meal ended up being $35), but the food is nothing to rave about. It's only 2 miles away from my house, but I'd probably drive a little further to get my Thai fix.

The worse experience I have ever had! Salmon pumpkin curry soup was extremely sweet, salmon had smell and when I asked manager to fix it (I was still open to try other dish instead, I was out of time and hungry) So the manager said they would not charge me but they won't cook anything instead. Ok.... That's terrible customer service! Wasted my time, left hungry and angry.... Shame on you!

This will forever be my favorite Thai restaurant. I have tried so many others in the area, and nothing compares to this. I'm sorry Thai Kitchen for cheating on you, I won't do it again. My kids and I loooove their: chicken fried rice, pineapple fried rice, green curry chicken with rice, pad thai, and their beef see ew. Their honey banana and mango sticky rice is yummy also. I want to try other dishes they have, but for some reason we keep gravitating to our favorites.

Their Pad Thai is delicious. But their customer service needs work. I think I would rate this place higher if the customer service was better. Their Thai Tea was pretty good too and their fresh coconut juice. Their Pineapple fried rice was delicious too. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a lot of people because it can get pretty expensive. A good date place!! because the servers don't bother you much but it also means they aren't very prompt.

Huge parking lot space, so if you're coming in a large party ... no worries plenty of parking for everyone to go around and plenty of seating for large groups. The only downside is that the place is family owned, so if you don't mind waiting for some service then its worth it. There seemed to have been only two people working that night, but we don't mind. We come from a small family owned restaurant too so we know how it is. Ordered the basa spicy fish with eggplant (a special) ... it was so good! Not too salty and plenty of other vegetables. The sauce was not heavy. Served with rice (they have brown rice, win!) Curry was also good. Chicken Yellow curry, nothing special since evey thai place usually has a curry dish. Pad thai, seemed to not have been the traditional kind. Not as saucy and the noodles seemed clear a bit different. Still good though. The tab came out to about $35 for three entrees and rice. Not including tip.

We are hungry and sitting here right now after reading good yelp reviews about this place. We just moved to Union City and was hoping to find a good Thai place like Mai Thai in San Leandro. This is a Sunday the place looked busy all but two tables already had food on it. We arrived at 2:05. My husband had to flag down a lady to take our order at 2:20 after the water was brought out. We put Food came out at 2:58. I really don't know about the taste of the food because my child is so upset from hunger that I am really not tasting my food. Thai Kitchen could be deelish but the wait is not worth it from start to finish.

Came in for lunch on a Sunday and was pretty disappointed. It was kinda empty but then again they just opened. Friend and I ordered pad thai and curry. I really don't understand why they would charge $1.75 for a bowl of steamed rice. That basically made me order noodles over rice. So we got our food and the curry seem like a lot which was disappointing. My pad thai was okay. Noodles are different from other places since is more thin and circular. Menu is false advertisement since it says prawns and not small pieces of shrimp. Also my noodles were all jammed up and stuck together... Overall I doubt I'll be back here.

I will always give this restaurant 5 stars for quality food, excellent service and very affordable price. They have always been consistent with the taste of all their entrees, one of the reason why we keep going back for more. My favorite dish is the "choo chee" pampano-Fish fried to perfection with curry sauce topped with vegetables and pineapple chunks. Yum!

Depending on what you order here, you can have an experience that ranges from 2-4 stars. The first time I came here, we had the Pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, and some yellow curry and were unimpressed by our meal. Better versions of these entrees can be found at other Thai restaurants in the area. After that experience, we decided we wouldn't be returning there again. A year or so later, my boyfriend and I, being the Thai food lovers we are, found this place on Yelp. I was surprised that there was a 4-star Thai restaurant so close to my house that I hadn't tried before. So we decided to stop by for lunch one day, and as we pulled into the parking lot, my head dropped in disappointment. I remembered I had been here before and didn't like it, but we gave it another shot anyway since we were already there. We ordered the pra-ram beef with broccoli and spinach, which is basically beef and broccoli covered with peanut sauce. We also had the spicy salmon, which is deep-fried, boneless, garlic-y and delicious. Both dishes were surprisingly good, and we were both very satisfied with our choices. To summarize, if you're looking for good Pad Thai, fried rice, or curry, I'd suggest going elsewhere. If you come here, the pra-ram beef and the spicy deep-fried salmon are solid dishes to order.

I went to Thai Kitchen yesterday and wanted to write a quick update since it's been a while since my original review. I ordered the Tom Yum soup, smoked chili chicken, and green bean chicken. All of them were absolutely delicious!!! Thai Kitchen makes two of the BEST I've EVER found at any Thai restaurant. They make the best chili paste sauce by far! I've never come across a restaurant that makes a chili paste that's even close. Also, Thai Kitchen makes the best sticky rice with mango dessert! It's awesome!!! Thai Kitchen remains my favorite Thai restaurant of all-time!

I've been coming here since 2010. It's close by my house and serves up delicious Thai dishes. I've had their angel wings (crispy and delicious), Tom Kha with chicken, Penang beef, green curry with chicken, the pad Thai. The portions are huge so family style is definitely preferably. I would give this place 5 stars but I'm not too fond of the servers there who aren't too happy to serve you.

I came here because the Buddhanusorn Thai Temple food court was closed. I was so sad. :( I haven't had Thai food in awhile so I figured I'd pick some up for me and my family. I came here based on the Yelp reviews and I was satisfied but not amazed by the food. I came in here at lunch on a Sunday around 12:20 and the ordered from the menu. The prices were fair, my total was $18ish for two dishes. The wait for food was about 20 minutes, which isn't bad. I just went shopping around (there's not much around except a few convenience/quick stop stores). I ordered the Red Curry with chicken (recommended by the lady) and Pad See-Ew. The Red Curry was good and flavorful! The curry was very coconut-y and there was a decent amount of chicken. They give you a good amount and my parents really liked this dish. The Pad See-Ew with Pork was where I was disappointed. I've had some really good Pad See-Ew and the one here was rather bland...it wasn't particularly impressed. There just wasn't enough flavor in the noodles for me. The good? Plenty of food for three people. I had some rice at home to eat with the curry, so I didn't buy any at the restaurant (yay for saving a few extra bucks!). Overall, food was okay, service was good. I didn't have a chance to research on what their popular dishes were (from Yelp reviews) since it was a last minute decision to go here but I'd be down to give this place another chance!

i thought i'd give this place another try -- since my boss suggested thai food. we ordered the pineapple fried rice, pad thai, yellow curry with chicken, and the house special pumpkin curry with shrimp. everything tasted delicious all except for the pad thai. there was this funky sour taste in the pad thai. i took a few bites and stop and later felt really sick after going back to the office. i'm not coming back here again and risking another tummy pain. =/

I have been visiting this place past couple of years.. Unfortunately today it was a big disaster at this place. The dish ordered was completely different than being asked for. When returned they bring back the same plate with some alterations. The staff was not apologetic for this at all.. paid the bill in full and did not leave the tip. One of my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. It's close to my house, ok price, and big portions. Place is old, and not much to look at so don't come here expecting fine dining or anything special. Not fancy food just pretty good. We got lots to eat Sun 11/14/10 lunch w/ lots of leftovers: Tom Kha Chicken $7.50 - huge pot of spicy & sour coconut milk w/ galanga, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves & chicken. Pretty salty though, so get a side of rice. See-Ew w/ tofu & broccoli plus other veggies. Not very good, but not super bad. Rice noodles not stir-fried enough, too much bean sprouts. Red Curry mixed veggies - B. got this & seemed to like it. I liked the broccoli. Papaya salad - just ok. Huge portion, not spicy enough even though requested spicy. Thai kitchen really has gone downhill. It used to be so much more consistent. Now from the last couple of visits, service has been extremely slow and the Food doesn't taste as good. the price also has increased. I'm not sure if they've picked up more business because it seems so. However, even the quality of the food has gone downhill. I found hair on my pad Thai. That just sealed the deal for me that I will find another Thai food spot for me to go in union city.

So, I went here many years ago, and remember the food was just fine. This week I had lunch there and although I only ordered a little bit of food (salad, satay), the service was friendly, the place was clean, and the food was tasty. My complaint would be that they use iceberg lettuce which has no nutritional value. But the friendly, attentive staff and reasonable prices make this a place I would easily return to. Just an easy place to get some food, nothing fancy but good quality and service.

Been coming here for years. The restaurant is small and a bit dated, but the food is good. I just came for lunch and we waited pretty long for our food. We did come during the lunch crowd but that should be prepared for in advance? Beef noodle soup - I used to always eat this is sf so it was a treat to find this here. The soup was good with pieces of beef, beef balls, noodles, and some spinach. I really liked the sweet and sour herb broth! Yellow curry - Standard yellow curry. The lunch portion was a good size, not too big or not too small like some Thai restaurants I've been to. Waters were refilled often and service was good.

I was craving for spicy food. I suggested Indian food but my fiancÃ© didn't feel like having Indian food so we ended up with Thai food instead. I was skeptical but I had to give a new place a chance since I haven't been to this place which he suggested. My skepticism was about the spiciness of Thai food. I guess I shouldn't compare, but after eating here, couldn't help but tell myself I was right. The food, the service, the ambiance were all okay for me. What didn't click my enthusiasm was of course, like what I expected, the spiciness of the food. I ordered the Smoked Chili Beef and told the server that I prefer the real hot spicy flavor. My fiancÃ© ordered the green/yellow Curry Chicken with medium hot spicy flavor. We of course shared in order to both taste them. Both were not spicy at all. I was totally disappointed. My cravings were not filled. (Perhaps that's why I'm at home sick. LOL I need some real authentic spicy food.) I would of course go back if given the chance, but hopefully they know the real difference between Mild, Medium Hot and Hot. Too bad my fiancÃ© didn't like Indian food...

When I ask a restaurant to make a dish "mildly spicy", that means I want to eat the dish without drowning my tongue in water. Mild apparently does not exist here at this restaurant, because even though I clearly said it to the waitress as she nodded and wrote something down on her notepad, my dish still came out as if it were burning with the rage of twenty rioting jalopenos. I couldn't even finish half of my fried rice plate. My friends mutual reactions to trying my rice was "Wow. Wow. That IS hot. Wow". Can't really say I enjoyed it here. Even though this place has some pretty good reviews, which would normally warrant a second visit, I'd rather save my taste buds from being burnt off.

Was greeted by the hostess, who didn't seem to be too happy today. She came up with a glass of water and took my order, then, quickly came with a cup of soup, which was quite sweet, which isn't something I'm used to. I was hoping to get an order of the sampler, but I didn't see it on the menu. :( Had their pad kee mao. And wow, what flavor. Love it being garlicky and also really strong basil flavor, but it's more oily and sweet than what I'm used to. The lady never came back to check up on me, even when I was really pondering on order dessert. :(

My favorite Thai place. I haven't tried something I didn't like. Tom Yom is really good here, and I've had a lot of Tom Yom from so many places. I always come back here after trying other Thai places. Service is genuinely friendly, but not very aware with the guests needs, so I took off a star. Portions are huge, so you're supposed to eat the dishes as a family. Don't forget to save room for their homemade coconut ice cream!

Love their chicken fried rice, yellow curry chicken, and fried tofu. Been coming here since 2006. But the highlight is the service, always with a smile and very prompt. I judge service by how well my water glass is kept filled and it rarely stayed empty for long. Being a small business in today's economy, it's understandable that they have minimum staffing, so I do expect a little delay now and then, especially when they're busy. Last night was a prime example at how good the service was... even when the waitress was mostly by herself, she somehow managed to be efficient and attentive to all 7 tables.

In high school, when everyone was going to Jack in the box and McDonald's after school, I'd spend my $5 bill at Thai Kitchen. My GF and fellow rice-eater/craver introduced me to this place and got me hooked on fish cakes and Prararm Beef. The portions on the lunch plates were generous and it was a great way to feed my face with my measly allowance. Fast forward a few years later, the lunch plate prices have gone up to $6.95, but quality and generous portions are the same. They give a lot more than CoCurry or Thai Kitchen. Its also the little things that make a difference, like giving my little one his own bowl of soup (which usually comes only when ordering the lunch combo). Their Fried Banana dessert comes with your choice of plain vanilla or coconut-pineapple ice cream. Its not a fancy place, but its quite comfortable and welcoming and not what you'd expect looking from the outside.

If you're on a diet, don't dine here. But if you're not, you're in luck! I can always rely on Thai Kitchen to make me a consistant, tasty and greasy plate of Thai noodle! Their noodle plates are greasier than most Thai restaurant I'd been to, but that's what made them so good! I personally love the Pad Kee Mao (Spicy Drunken Noodle). Their Pad See Ew is really good too, very, very flavorful, especially when ordered with beef. They are very generous with their serving. Their papaya salad is also really good, but it was spicier than expected when I asked for it to be spicy. Their curry is very rich and creamy. They give you generous amount of meat and veggies with it.

There were only 3 parties in the restaurant, but I felt like we were bothering her. She brought the check after we started eating, and we said politely we actually wanted to order a couple more thai iced teas and dessert later. She looked almost confused, then said sorry, then turned around and looked upset as she walked away. Place has lots of room to park in a so-so area. Interior not updated, and bf felt a little uneasy at first with the shabby-ness, but the food is ultimately what makes this place legit.

One of the best Rad Nar I ever had. Lots of seafood - mussels, huge shrimp... only thing is they use imitation crab meat, which I actually dont mind. I also tried the Yen Ta Fo and it is also good but Rad Nar is the bomb here. I dont know if I will ever order anything else here. Why mess with a good thing? Service is also great. Very polite, fast service, and water always got refilled. Prices are also very reasonable - most dishes are less than $10 and portions are huge.

Very good food. Picked up take out for work and we got: Red and Green curry, pad Thai, bbq chicken, and chicken with green beans. All were very good. The spicy-level is a bit uneven though. I ordered the green curry and the chicken w/ green beans medium spicy. The green curry was very hot while the chicken was perfect for the dish. I ordered the red curry for myself Hot and it was blow-your-face-off hot. The flavor is excellent, it was just too spicy to finish. I thought I liked stuff crazy spicy (I can handle habanero salsa most of the time,) but this stuff was unreal! I can't blame them for giving me hot when I asked for hot! The food was very flavorful and there were no complaints on that side. The fragrance they put off when I was driving it home in the car was just as good as the food.

It's been a while, but not sure what happened here. Did the owners change? I'm not sure. Well feeling a bit like Thai food today and wanting to go to a gelato place near by, I decided that my go-to Thai place would be it. But perhaps it wasn't a good night. It was a Saturday night and it was pretty empty. We ordered the Roasted Duck Red Curry and Stuffed Grilled Shrimp. ~ Roasted Duck Red Curry ~ It came out and I was expecting the quantity of the food to be more than what came on the plate. The plate overwhelmed the dish. I think if it came in a bowl it would've looked a lot more. This is where presentation is key. There was more duck skin than duck meat. But the flavors of red curry were very prominent. ~ Stuffed Grilled Shrimp ~ They give you 4 shrimps with pork placed on top of a split shrimp. Here is where the idea was great, but execution was poor. The pork and shrimp was dry. Perhaps we were too adventurous and should have stuck with the normal fare (pad thai, etc), but that would be boring! Anyways, still this place is good, perhaps it was just a bad night.

Why did I drive 20 minutes to eat at this place? Because they have sticky rice and custard on their menu, and that's one of my favorite dessert of all time. It's a childhood favorite and I've been on the hunt for a good sticky rice and custard replica of what I grew up eating in Vietnam. I found it once at a Thai restaurant in Oakland...unfortunately that restaurant close down :( So yeah, there has been many failed attempts since then....including this one....though it is one of the better ones I've tried. Pad Kee Mao: not bad but I've had better. Honey BBQ chicken: though the portion was generous, the meat was dry Good place to try once, won't be coming back though since there are better Thai restaurants near where I live.

My favorite Thai restaurant in the tri-city area. Food is consistently good. There's not really a bad dish to be had and I wouldn't hesitate to say it has the best Tom Kha chicken and mushroom soup that I've tasted. The balance of sour from the galangal and lemongrass is perfectly paired with the sweetness of the coconut milk. The difference between good and great in Thai cuisine is just the right balance. This soup is perfectly balanced.

Decent pad thai but the crab fried rice was a little too seafoody for my taste. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. isn't a bad time to go and its a nice quiet and calm atmosphere and average prices. In short: if I had an intense pad thai craving and was nearby, I might stop by but definitely not a favorite.

We came here yesterday however before I we head towards this way from San Leandro I called ahead of time to find out how long is the wait time because I know that valentines day is always hectic for any restaurants, the asian lady that answered the phone said that they are not busy "yet" I asked her why she said not yet however she just told me to just go there. So right when we got there there's a family waiting infront of us which is fine. But the servers or owner was ignoring us not saying anything to us even a hello. Wtf?! No conversation between customer and server or telling u how long is the wait time. So I came up at the front and told them I need table for two. To my surprise I seen a girl roughly around 7 years old working at the cashier she is so tiny. I don't think she should be working at that young age I guess coz their busy..sorry but for me it's child labor! I had to bug the servers saying I need table for two. Finally we got seated after 15mins and got our water 10 after. Then another 5 mins after that someone came up to get our order. Our food didn't Came out till almost an hour from the time we stepped inside. I was really getting impatient I said if 5 mins to 8pm if we still don't have our food then we are leaving luckily it came out so we came in at 6:50 and got our food 5mins before 8pm. We ordered chicken satay and the chicken was fucking cold but the rest of the other food was really good. Moral of the story don't tell your customer that ur not busy when you are so they won't expect and get disappointed. By the way while were waiting for our food there were at least two parties already that left, And lady server that just slide our food and kind of slammed it on the table, your the reason why y'all didn't get a tip from us! Bad customer service!!!

This was the first Thai restaurant experience I ever had, over 20 year ago. Since then, I have ventured out and had my share of Thai and now, I must say this spot is simply ehh, ok. It works if you want some quick Thai and you're in the area. Pro: Great Thai Ice tea, Pad Thai flavor is great-don't get shrimp, satay was yummy Con: Pad Thai had 3 shrimp! I'm good on the imitation crab in the fried rice, BBQ chicken was way dry, mussumun was not spicy enough and they didn't give a complimentary rice Would I go back...sure, if I need a quick fix, it's close to my house so it works.

We did carryout here. While we were waiting for our food, they made us a couple of Thai Teas on the rocks. We asked why and she told us that it was for us because we had to wait for our food. How nice is that? There are so many resturants that do not understand customer service but this place truly does get it. If I lived closer, I would probably visit this place more often...two thousand miles for me to drive for Thai food is a little far. We had the Satay Chicken with Peanut Sauce...very good and safe...you can not go wrong with that ever...unless they over cook it and dry it out but that was not the case here. We also had a vegetable noodle dish which was really good. I wish I knew the name but I did not do any of the ordering...I only did the picking up of the food. They also ordered a couple of curry chickens too. I am not a curry fan but I did like both of them.

After living in the area all my life, I FINALLY tried Thai Kitchen. I don't know why I waited so long because I've been missin' out! We ordered 3 dishes that could very well feed 3, maybe 4 people, but my fiancÃ© and I are such fatties that we finished EVERYTHING. Here's what we ordered: * Yellow curry with tofu Next time I will order the vegetarian version that comes with a variety of veggies (instead of just potatoes and carrots) and add tofu to that. * Honey BBQ Pork You most definitely should order this dish. The pork is tender, full of flavor and grilled to perfection. You don't even have to dip the meat in the sweet and sour sauce provided. * Chicken fried rice This is great to eat w/ your entrÃ©e instead of just plain jasmine rice. Yah, it means more calories, but I didn't even care at the moment. I was starving! Besides, I didn't see brown rice on the menu. I'll have to ask them if they serve that next time. * Thai iced tea I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Go for the food, not the ambiance. CC accepted.

Came for dinner on a monday night, not busy - but its okay, Mondays are hard on most businesses. My boyfriend ordered the honey beef with steam rice - i had a couple of bites and I'm not sure how i feel about it... there were maybe like 6 big pieces, but very thin. The honey sauce they gave was good! I got the yum yai salad.. My only problem was that the hot chicken they put on top made the salad soft and warm..when I want a salad, I want a nice cold and crunchy one! The sauce was pretty alright. The chicken pieces were generous and there were 2 prawns that were really good. This is an okay salad. Thai tea - very authentic and HELLA good! Ambiance; very nice decor. So calming and very clean place. Fried banana and vanilla ice cream = the best! Two big pieces of banana fried and a LARGE scoop of vanilla ice cream. Definitely ended the okay meal with a great dessert! Not sure if we'll/I'll be back anytime soon, but it was decent.

I finally had some time to actually sit down and have lunch here and boy, Thai Kitchen did not disappoint. We walked in and the server recognized me from the various times I had been there. We were seated (rather haphazardly, but there was a big group that arrived just before us so I'm not judging the slight confusion) and given some pretty good soup while we decided what to order. Buoyed by my success on previous visits, I decided to branch out some more. We got the pork satay skewers, the lemon fish fillet and the stuffed prawns. The food took some time; the place was about half full and there were only two people alternating between the register and service. However, it was very definitely worth the wait. Out of the three dishes, only the prawn does not rate a 5. It was a bit dry and was pretty much a prawn with a bit of sausage attached to it; even the sweet and sour sauce did not do much to redeem it. But the fish and the skewers were more than enough to satisfy. The fish was very flavorful, but so light and not overpowering at all, and you can order it with varying degrees of spiciness. And also you feel like you're eating healthy because it's steamed, not fried or even grilled. The skewers were a bit tough but still very good and the peanut sauce definitely was perfect. Apart from the time it took to get us the food, I have no complaints about service. They checked on us a lot of times and we never even had to flag them down for so much as water. Yup Thai Kitchen, you are definitely my local go-to spot.

Interesting place this Union City, strip malls in a cluster, of course I was across the street at the other Thai restaurant, a couple of "where u at" text back and forth and I finally arrived at the right place. We sat by the door and each time it opened we were treated with the arctic breeze, they need to make a screen for the entrance or something. We showed up at the tail end of a large party so they were a bit unorganized, but once we were settled in and ordered, the food came out orderly. We had chicken satay (okay), papaya salad (spicy nice), ran out of choo-chee pompano so he gave us the fish filet instead (good), pad thai (okay), and either the green/yellow curry chicken (okay), can't remember exactly which one. Overall it was A-OK, service was good, price reasonable, but nothing stood out food wise, oh no, maybe my taste buds are oversaturated with Thai food? :-(

I have been to many thai restaurants in the bay area and even in socal. This place in my opinion is ranked the lowest for me because it was simply not that good.. I think I have such high standards now because of Marnee Thai in San Francisco.. which is the best thai food I have ever had, but this time didn't want to head to the city so we ventured out to Fremont side for some restaurants that we may like. Walked near the windows and saw that there's quite a few people so must be a good place to dine. Well not exactly. We ordered the tom yum soup, pad kee mao, pineapple fried rice, and papaya salad. Tom yum soup was a big disappointment. It was just imitation crab sticks, fish ball that tasted really fishy somehow, 2 pieces of mussels that tasted old and nasty, 2 pieces of prawns, calamari that was ok, mushrooms, and a piece of lime. My friend was like dude we can just make this at home and yup maybe we can. Pineapple fried rice- not that good...rice tasted burnt for some reason but there was no burnt rice. a piece of chicken meat had a little burnt marks but that's ok. My brother was like dude I found a burnt piece...and my friend pointed out that it was a raisin haha. Pad kee mao- hmmm reminded me of chinese food for some reason instead of thai. It was much more oily and less spicy than other thai restaurants. Noodles came in really wide but short pieces instead of medium length like the usual. It had those canned corn? (ones that looks like baby corn cobs), brocolli, onions.. weird.. so papaya salad- we ordered medium but it came out like there's no spiciness at all. Just tasted sour from the sauce and that's it, no spice at all whatsoever. I read a review that stated how mild was too spicy for them. +1/2 large parking lot, +1/2 really attentive and nice staff. -1 tom yum soup - not the best and for $9, i will pass -1 pineapple fried rice -burnt tasting rice, forgot the price -1 pad kee mao - was not that good. forgot the price -1 papaya salad - medium spice was no spice at all, around $6 total for all 4 dishes was around 38? ok pricing for thai but i will pass on this location since there's much more better options for thai food closer to where I live in Oakland and San Francisco.

Solid 3 stars. The food is decent to good depending on what you order, however, it feels that I'm eating a spoon full of salt with every bite. I like my food on the salty flavorful side, but this was just too much for me. I couldn't stop drinking water because the high level of sodium (or msg?) made me feel so thirsty. I'm a huge fan of satay but the satay here were just so so. I tried the chicken pork and beef satay. Chicken was the best.

I am super biased when it comes to Thai Kitchen. Because it's so conveniently located near my parents house, this has been our family's favorite restaurant to go to whenever we celebrate any special occasion...actually, even if there is no particular occasion, we like to come here. The staff is fantastic and super attentive. We never have to ask for any water refills and the food is always served pretty promptly. There are always the staple dishes we order everytime and we occasionally veer off into new dishes, which soon become faves, too. - Combination appetizer - a great platter of options. We always ask for the rice to arrive at the same time. I love their fried fish cake! They used to make one big eggroll and cut it into 3 pieces, but now they roll itty bitty ones and you only get 2. The angel wings are good, as well as their satay. - Tom Yum soup - Sucha great soup, best w/ shrimp, and they cater it to whatever level of spiciness you want. - Honey BBQ Pork - always a favorite and well cooked/grilled. Super flavorful and great dipped in the peanut sauce, too. - Seafood Duck - One of my dad's favorite dishes...full of veggies and seafood, oh and duck, of course. - Pad See Ew - I like that it's juicy and the noodles are not bunched together. - Crying Tiger beef - a newer favorite. I have a sensitive palate and I really appreciate that they put all the spice in a little dish on the side b/c I hear it's pretty spicy. - Gado Gado Salad - the peanut sauce dressing is the best! Lots of greens with fried tofu & sliced hard boiled egg topped with potato chips (a little different, yes, but also good together with this salad). Yes, the prices have increased a bit through the years, but its still a good deal for the great food they serve. The menu hadn't been changed for many years, but its different - more user friendly w/ lots of pictures. I don't think the decor's changed in 20yrs, lol. There are so many other good dishes and those are just a few. Their curries are good, the spinach w/ chicken in peanut sauce, fish dishes, and the sticky rice w/ mango & fried banana w/ ice cream are great desserts.

Came here at 8:30pm on a Tuesday night... 30 min before closing. My girlfriend and I were the only ones there and we were STARVING. The prices are GREAT for Thai. The portions are a pretty good size also. Really affordable Thai food that tastes great. We ordered the: * Papaya Salad: We asked for mild and boy was it hot! good thing we didn't ask for hot or else it would have been scorching our mouths. The shredded papaya tasted very fresh and the juices were slowly filling me up. The portion was pretty big for 2 people. There wasn't any kinda of meat in it, but there was some tomatoes! * Beef Green Curry: Didn't seem like much when our waitress placed it on our table, but it turns out that it was the right amount for 2. It was very tasty; maybe just a tad bit heavy on the coconut milk, but it was very good. * Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice: I swear this is like my curry fried rice except tastes better. lol. I wasn't expecting it to have curry flavor because every other place I had this rice didn't have any trace of curry. This paired up really well with the green curry. And sliced cucumbers are always a PLUS!

This was my favorite Thai place back in the day. That is until the day I found a critter in my favorite pad thai. I hoped it was a fluke. So I tried again. This time, found two critters, upside down, legs to the ceiling. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!! I truly hope they have rid the critters for all you fellow yelpers that love Thai Kitchen!

This place was fine - didn't taste outstanding but was decent. I have had much better at Sala Thai in Central Fremont. We had angel wings, garlic prawns, pad thai, thai chicken basil, mussamun curry - they were all tasty but wasn't anything special.

This spot is really good and authentic. When you leave you feel like you're leaving with a little piece of Thailand. The food is great and the ambience feels so pure. The only thing missing from the experience are Thai folk-dancers.

When Banyan (located on the other side of UC, see my other review) is full, I like to go to this other awesome Thai restaurant. It's a little bit quieter and maybe not as hiply decorated, but the food is decent and cheap. Their chicken curry, pad thai, and Thai iced tea are mmm, mmm good!!

My family and friends have been coming here since 1989 and this place never dissappoints! You can't beat great thai food at a great price. If you order the pad thai, angel wings, satay beef, spicy catfish, and crab fried rice, you will put yourself in a food coma.(A happy food coma.) The staff is friendly and the service is quick! I highly reccomend this place.

Not sure what everyone is raving about. Calamari was like leather (overcooked) and there was a strange grit in the pad thai (maybe someone forgot to wash the green onions?). Also tried the cashew chicken, which wasn't impressive but at least edible!!! Totally ruined my birthday dinner and definitely won't be returning!

More like 4.5 Stars. Went here last Friday on a total whim. I remembered friends eating at this place and my boyfriend mentioned it once or twice before since we drive by it whenever we go Seafood City. The food was decent priced, yummy and they give a good amount -- we had ample leftovers. We ordered the Pad Thai which today (yep, we went again with my brother this time) and my boyfriend said it's the best he's had thus far. He likes how they don't go overboard with sauce. We also had the Thai Kitchen Fried Rice - YUM, BBQ Chicken - there's a lot of it too, Penang Beef - which my bro said was so full of flavor, and the combo appetizer sample. I HAVE TO have that whenever we go, it's got the satay, these stuffed chicken wings, spring rolls and these awesome fish cakes. And the three dipping sauces it comes with are so freakin good. I told my friend about it, and she used to frequent this place back when she lived in UC. We're there again the next time she visits. I have to stress they give good sized portions. Let me just say, I went with two hungry and husky Filipino boys ordered 5 dishes and had left lots of leftovers!!!

We love this place! Thai Kitchen is located just down the street from us, so we call in to do take-out quite a few times. The price is decent and the portion is bigger than average. We tried most of their menu and we have not been disappointed once. I have brought my friends to the restaurant few times and they all love the place. From the outside, the restaurant looks very sketchy and deserted. But once you step into the restaurant, the smell of the spices and the faint incense welcome you. The waitress is not fluent in English, but she is very patient and nice. The restaurant is located in a disenchanted shopping center. The parking will not be a problem.

Food is AMAZING!! It has a sense of family when you go there. The wait staff is always pleasant. My favorite dish is between the garlic chicken and the yellow curry. A must at this place is the thai ice tea!!

we decided to give TK a try based on the yelp reviews here... and it didn't disappoint us one bit! from the previous reviews that we've read, we were expecting some rundown yet good tasting small homey place ("looks very sketchy and deserted"?). yet when we did find the restaurant (it's not in the big seafood mall plaza, but rather, it's across the street on the small plaza), we saw that the sign was nice and big and yellow and easy to read, nor did the exterior look "very sketchy and deserted". once we got inside, it surprised us even more! the interior is well lit w/ natural lighting, and very spacious. we had a group of 16 (including one 3yr old and a baby) and we were seated rather nicely. we ended up ordering A LOT OF FOOD and they came fairly quickly and pretty much all the dishes were great tasting. 1 or 2 of the dishes that we ordered were more chinesey (similar to chinese food), not that they taste bad or anything, but we want THAI food. and everything else was just gooooood. i'll need the menu in front of me (we took a paper take-out one home) to go into details, but since almost everything we tried was good we'll just leave it at that~ as with deserts, the fried banana w/ ice cream is to died for, while the custard w/ sweet rice was a little strange (not in a bad way, but it sure looks funny). we pretty much finished everything we ordered and everyone was happy. good casual atmosphere, great food, and good prices too~ not sure if it's well lit @ night, but for lunch it's perfect. we're definitely coming back here when we have our next thai itch!

The friendly hostess (or is she the owner?), it's always nice when people remember you, even when you haven't been there in a while. She even remembered the singha beer. We didn't even ask. What this place lacks in style, it makes up for in taste. The food is consistently good. The prices are decent. Never too crowded, definitely unpretentious.

My family has been a loyal patron of Thai Kitchen since the 1990s and it almost the same today. As a kid, I remember keeping my fingers on my car's lock button and I never having the windows opened more than a centimeter while my mom grabbed some take-out. Need less to say, especially for all you Union City natives, Thai Kitchen is not located in the most beautiful of strips. But it doesn't need a Union Landing to serve its delicious food. I usually get the spicy eggplant and tofu, a custom dish, and it never disappoints. During lunch, they have a few specials and is the best time to come.
