Steak, mushroom, and provolone: bomb. Full of flavor and moist. Yes, I said it: moist. Fish sandwich: mediocre. Fish needs to be seasoned more. Fries: standard. Definitely coming back to this great hole in the wall for the steak sandwich!!

My husband loves this place. He is huge fan of the steak and cheese sandwich. Everytime we come out to Tustin he has to eat here. If you like steak and cheese, I would definitely try the sandwich here!

I just got a new job here about a month ago and was introduced to bread basket. Their food is fresh, healthy and awesome, service is quick even though they are always busy, they allow some customization to your sandwich. People are just so happy and friendly working here. I normally dont tip when i take to-go but i tip this place. I dont see myself getting tired of this place any time soon as they have so many options.
(5)Tim B.
I love this place. My co-workers and I have been coming here for the last coupe years. The staff is friendly and the food is fresh. I usually get the Tuna and Cheese on toasted sourdough.
(5)Lisa G.
Great food, great service! A must for lunch, best sandwiches in town. Richard is the bomb.
(5)Andy F.
This was a great place to stop in for lunch! There are a ton of options and I don't think that anyone could walk away saying that they didn't see anything they liked on the menu. That said, this place was pretty packed when I stopped in, so it took about twenty minutes before I was digging in. They had some bar games in the back, though, so that was a really great way to pass the time while I was waiting to chow down. Definitely recommend stopping by, just not if you're in a big time crunch.

Been here a few times now over the years, and I can honestly say not much has changed. To some, that may signal comfort and tried & true, to others it may seem a tad timid, offering the same fare over and over and nothing new to tempt you. To me, it's just a typical mom & pop sandwich shop in a typical industrial park, with typical nondescript decorations at a slightly elevated price. The Bread Basket does indeed have a fairly large menu and plenty of breads to choose from. Too bad the breads are OTC grocery store brands and the meat selection is generic, but because of the high volume they do, I guess you can say it can't get much fresher. If you're looking for that 'typical' comfort sandwich you had at band camp or the "Y" back in the day, then that's what you're gonna get. Don't expect fancy-schmancy artisan breads, micro-greens, condiments galore, or exotic cured regional meats. No, expect more along the lines of turkey, ham, roast beef, pastrami on squaw, wheat or white and shredded iceberg lettuce. A slice of avocado or bacon is as fancy as they get. Speaking of condiments, it's literally no exaggeration that the packets read "ketchup", "mustard", "mayo". Yes, they don't even even serve Heinz, thus the epitome of generic, which I suppose matches the decor - white walls, with requisite beer endorsing mirrors, and colorful plastic flag streamers about (like the kind you see from last years Cinco de Mayo). I find the prices slightly out of sync with the food. Sandwiches served in baskets or paper plates average between $7-10 and I can't even get Dijon mustard, Kraft Miracle Whip, or real silverware? Now I know this doesn't sound at all favorable thus far right? Well, I did find some benefits: The sandwiches are big, and fresh. Staff is friendly and fast. And while the inside might seem plain, it's big with plenty of seating. They also serve beer and wine and have a bar that seat approx. 8 patrons. It appears that it mainly services the surrounding industrial park, meaning local construction workers, office personnel, and salesmen in a hurry from the immediate area. Don't see to many families or dates coming here. The big picture is this: They serve typical American sandwiches, nothing fancy, nothing outside the box,....but they are big, fresh and fast...for about $1-2 more than you'd expect. Your best bet if you're hungry is getting the "Monster" however.
(3)Marco B.
This place is hidden in a Buisness park but is a great place to stop if you are in the area. The first time I visited the demand had been so high they ran out of rolls and the sandwich was still exceptional.
(5)Joe V.
Seriously, the sandwiches are a little larger than normal but are average tasting. Harrys Deli is/was better. You can, however, get a decent beer at this place and have a proper seat at the bar.
(3)Ryan J.
I was hoping to find a new "go-to" spot for sandwiches on my lunch breaks but think I will keep looking. Ordered a turkey sandwich on wheat, and felt that they skimped me on meat. Sandwich was below par, but service was great and was able to drink beer and that's always great :)
(3)Benj N.
I've been to the bread basket a dozen times now. Every time I've gone its been great. The Philly cheese with marinara and peppers is probably the best sandwich I've had on the menu. I actually only get that now. Everything else is OK, but this is great. The TV's and bar are a great compliment. Everyone is really nice. Although they do get busy and it can take a little bit of time to get your order, it is well worth it if you get the famous Philly. In addition, the portions are very large, free refills on sodas, and they have siracha!!!!
(5)Michael R.
Solid mom and pop sandwich shop which is right next to my work. Does get a little pricey if you order a combo (sammy, chips, and drink) expect to pay close to $9-10 . I usually just order the capicola (im a sucker for italian meat) on french roll with everything. I think it comes out to $5.55 including tax for just the sandwich. Their jalapenos, pepperoncinis, and yellow chilis are plentiful which is good for a spicy lover of all things person such as myself.
(3)Jordan M.
This place is just all right, it was by my internship so I decided to check it out. Don't feel the need to come back, my sandwich was just average, nothing special.
(3)Missy A.
Came across this place when searching sandwiches in the Tustin area on Yelp. I figured four stars made it worth the eight mile round-trip on my lunch. I was wrong. Nothing extraordinary or special about the sandwiches here. In fact, I think a sandwich from Subway would have been more flavorful. Granted I picked up a plain sandwich (turkey and provolone) they don't offer any kind of sauces other than mayo. Also, the ingredients on the sandwich were distrubted unevenly, the lettuce all on one side and the meat on the other. This review is based solely on the sandwich I purchased, the rest of the menu may be better. Although, the sandwich offerings didn't blow my skirt up, I will say that it does seem like a cool atmosphere, they offer beer, have bar seating and a pool table and the workers are quick and friendly.
(2)Elaine K.
DELICIOUS! We were jonesing for a steak sandwich from Harry's Deli, but they are no longer with us, so my co-worker searched yelp and we are so glad he did. We got the steak, onion, mushroom and cheese sandwich on a french roll - where do I begin? The french roll is soft and wonderful, the steak was cooked to perfection, the melted cheese with the mushrooms and onions could be a side dish they are so good. The entire sandwich makes me forget all about Harry's Deli. We also got a couple of orders of onion rings - again, delicious. The employees are friendly and you don't have to wait all day for your food. This is now our new favorite lunch spot!
(5)Dorothy L.
My mf and I came here for lunch since it's nearby his workplace. It's a hole in the wall unit in a business complex. Looks like its a place for lots of happy hours here for the local businesses and it gets pretty busy at the peak luch hour. The service was freindly and quick. I had the turkey avocado cranberry sandwich on squaw bread. I love squaw bread and I'll try it anywhere if they have it on their menu. The squaw bread was very good here and the ample size of the sammie was quite yummy! We also shared an order of the onion rings. Good golly, they were HUGE, crispy, and deliciously hot right out of the fryer. This place offers a great deal for a filling and tasteful quick lunch stop. I'll definitely come back for lunch to try other items on their menu.
(4)Justin E.
This place can't be beat. Cheap, good sandwiches. A decent Philly cheesesteak (make sure it has sauce or ask for a side of marinara if they forget). Pastrami is pretty good too. PBR or Bud for $3.50 in a properly chilled glass. This place is a great hideout in the middle of the day. I had a training conference about a good 15 minute walk away--I made the walk 3 days in a row. Why? It beat driving somewhere. It's good exercise. And I really needed that midday beer. Next time I'm in Tustin, I'll be back for sure. I mean, when you're getting a sandwich, chips, and a beer for under $15 and it's good? Screw Quizno's or Subway. Get it here.
(5)Agnes J.
Honestly, this place is ok. Around 5.75 for steak sandwich alone. 2.75 to make it a combo... The combo includes a bag of chips and small drink. A bit overpriced for combo in my opinion. I dont know if its because i came in during summer but it is freeezing inside.
(3)Lorraine G.
My go to sandwich place when I need something quick and tasty! Try the pastrami. Oh yeah. The way it's done right!! :)
(5)Ramses S.
I had the 12' chicken salad w/avacado and bacon on a french baguette. It was Delicious! The portions are huge and there's flavor in every bite for a very reasonable price. Sucks that its only open M-Fri. PS they also sell beer and there's a pool table.
(4)Traci D.
Came here for lunch the other day and got the turkey, avocado and cranberry sandwich on squaw bread. If you want cheese or bacon, it is extra. They have a variety of sandwiches that come with lettuce, tomato and pickles. Bread choices include french rolls, squaw and wheat. They also have other items like fish and chips. I saw someone order onion rings and they looked good. They serve beer as well. They give you a lot of meat on the sandwiches. The turkey was good but a little slimy which bothered me a little. A sandwich and chips cost me $7 bucks with is a little more than I wanted to pay. The place has lots of seating and is bigger than it actually looks from the outside. I would come here again because I work somewhat close by. I wouldn't make a special trip to come out here though.
(3)jonathan s.
Large portion, good price, just an ok tasting sandwich. More of a 3.5 stars. steak, grilled onions, cheese....was a little bland and dry. i dont think i would have been able to eat it unless i had the ranch dressing/sriracha mix going on. i'll come back because they have a huge menu but I will be trying something different.
(3)Dave K.
I don't always eat sandwiches, but when I do, I prefer Bread Basket. Stay hungry my friends. Other than the Marine Corps Air Station in Tustin, there isn't a whole lot to see on this little strip on Red Hill Ave filled with industrial office buildings - unless you're looking for the Bread Basket. Feeling chubby and desire a light lunch? try their *Tuna/Avocado/Bacon Sandwich. *My definition of "light" may differ from yours. Starving? Have yourself a Mushroom Steak Sandwich hot off the grill, try topping it off with Sriracha sauce. Got off work early, hungry and thirsty? Have a sandwich of your choice with a nice cold beer in a FROSTED beer mug. I can't think of any flaws about Bread Basket. Bread Roll, meat, veggies, everything is fresh. The price is right and they're not shy about stuff that sandwich roll to feed you. Would I go back? I wish I was there right now (and I just ate),
(5)SJ P.
They serve beer. Which is nice. And have a pool table in the back. And ESPN on the TV's- so it's got all the basics covered. $6.80 for an 8" sandwich- best deal I've found around here so far. No wait to put my order, even though it was lunch hour. They load the sandwiches up with deli meat, and the bread is fresh. Overall this is the best sandwich place I've found in the Tustin work area.
(4)Melissa D.
I used to work in the area and went here often for lunch. The sandwiches were always tasty - diverse selection, fresh bread, and generous portions. The service was also always fast and friendly.
(4)Jon N.
How DARE you run out of clam chowder on the Friday that I visited. And it was like 1:30pm too! blahh. What a disappointing place. I really had high hopes for Bread Basket but the sandwich I got fell really short of my expectations. This place also looks a lot smaller from the outside. When you step inside there a lot more tables and space to fill out. Italian Cold Cuts - What can I say.. the bread was chewy and slightly stale, they put too much mustard in it, for some reason they are using chopped tomatoes (warning sign) versus whole tomatoes, and they also heavily poured on the Italian vinaigrette. I had a really hard time tasting the meat with so many overpowering CONDIMENTS put into the sandwich. Anyways, I would love to try this place again but there are other places out there to eat and you only get one chance to make a first impression...
(3)Senor X.
I'm a fan of the motorcycle shop next door and I'm glad to have discovered this place as a MIDWEEK place to wait while my bike is improved on. They're definitely closed on weekends. I had an ice cold Stella that was great. I ordered the philly steak sandwich, which comes with marinara sauce. The marinara sauce...it's so bland and obviously can type...if I had not asked for the sauce on the side, I would have given this place a two stars (one star just for the ice cold beer and thats it). I know most people in OC have no taste buds but seriously, what the f-ck? They have a pool table, sports on the tv and a bar. It's an OK place at best...people who think this place is anything more are sad sacks (no offense).
(3)Jennifer L.
I guess I should bump them up a star since I've been getting my lunch here at least 4 times a week. My usual: Tuna (minus pickles) and cucumbers on squaw bread. We decided to be daring today and tried something else on the menu. They DO claim to have 101 different sandwiches afterall. We got the bbq chicken and mushrooms on a french roll. I know right? Bbq chicken and mushrooms? TOGETHER?! The combination was friggin' awesome. Chicken was on the drier side, but they stuffed that puppy full of chicken and mushrooms. LOVED IT!! There wasn't an overkill of bbq sauce, which I thought was great. Too much bbq is grosse. I will probably be switching off between the tuna and bbq chicken now. YUMS. They always quote 10-15 minutes when we place the order but we'll get there in 5 minutes and it's always ready. I've never had to wait. They're fast!
(4)Matt R.
I came here with a large group of coworkers for lunch and I was kinda stoked to try it out. I got a cold cut Italian sando and it was just kinda meh. It wasn't bad but it didn't make me go "dayyyyyyyuuuuuuuuummmm". Everyone else seemed to get hot sandwiches and seemed stoked about those so maybe if I make it back I'll try a hot sandwich out.
(3)will h.
I wanted to love you, because you were different, and not a lot of people knew about you. In your defense, I really do think that it's because I didn't pick the right sandwich, so I didn't get to see you in the right light. Next time. Typical combo will get you at $10 or 11. Haiku: I picked the turkey bacon The sandwich wasn't wound tight Stuff fell, used a fork
(3)Crystal C.
Sandwiches. I have a friend who never buys sandwiches from a store. He hates subway/quiznos... you name it, and he shakes his head. I brought him a sandwich from bread basket - and ..... he was quiet. HE ATE IT ALL. I really like the sandwiches from here. it's a mom-and-pop owned store... the prices may be a little higher than....... the five dollar footlong.. but the ingredients are wayyyyyy better! They have date shakes..... MMMMmmm!!! & dirty chips... Great place if you are craving a sandwich, but not a generic kind like subway. Tons of seating area! and the workers are ALWAYS smiling and friendly.
(4)Bruce C.
Got their steak sandwich. Something in it was bad (the mayo?), got me sick. ...Not going here again, I think........
(1)Shawn G.
I have been here only once but wasn't disappointed. For a sandwich shop they definitely deliver for the mid day lunch hunger. I particularly had the turkey, bacon, and avocado on fresh made squaw bread! The bread was an excellent choice hands down! The servers where very helpful in helping me decide what to eat there since it was my first time. The bacon was freshly cooked and made nice and crispy and they actually mash their avocados into a spread and put a good portion onto the sandwich. It was excellent. It is a bit pricey for just a sandwich, but they do a good job with what they make!
(4)Brett M.
I ordered the cold cuts sandwich, figured I couldn't go wrong. It was like biting into a salt lick. Seriously, I almost wheezed a little bit how salty it was, and I'm a salt lover. Way overboard, and there was nothing else redeeming about it. Mediocre all the way. The french roll was super boring too. Tasted like mass produced generic store-bought stuff, no texture at all. The shortfall of so many sandwich places. I honestly don't know if Southern Californians really know what a good sandwich is, because I continually see places like this get RAVE reviews. I swear people here would think spam on wonder bread was the best.
(2)Sarah W.
Onion rings... just order them. so cheap and so good. I really enjoy coming here, and have never once been let down by anything I've ordered. I don't even have a usual because I'm always craving something different when I come in. I've tried the meatball with cheese, chicken salad, turkey-avo on squa, Italian, just to name a few. Everything has rocked. Just don't forget to order the onion rings. They serve beer on tap and have an actual bar, which is cool but... c'mon it's lunch time.
(5)Nicole L.
This is my favorite sandwich place I have found in Orange County thus far! Bread Basket always satisfies all my sandwich cravings! I have never, ever been disappointed coming here! The owner is always super nice, as is the staff, the decor is always questionable (but fun to talk about), and the food is always deeelish!! My all time favorite sandwich is their turkey, avocado, and cheese on squaw bread. Yeah, that's right, mutha effin SQUAW bread!! But I also enjoy their beef dips and steak sandwich, or even their fish and chips every once in awhile! Their bread is always nice and soft, the macaroni salad never disappoints, and they have Dirty Kettle Chips!! And my lunch is always under $10 so more plus signs for that! Just thinking about this place has set my sandwich craving into effect... I think I know where lunch will be tomorrow!
(5)Justin A.
This is another work lunch place I frequent. The quality, portions, and prices are all a little higher than you'd expect, and the service is very good. The large sandwiches are very large, and surprisingly their salads are huge and tasty too. Nothing fancy here, though. There is indeed a bar in the place, along with a big screen TV. There seems to be someones never ending art project on the walls, too. Items to get: - Cheesesteak. There are couple menu variations - get the one with the Cherry Peppers and add Mushrooms. Awesome when they do it right, but this is also the one sandwich which they seem to be inconsistent on. You'll get 6 good ones and then a dud. I don't know why. - Chicken Salad Sandwich - Fresh chicken! Really good. - Tuna Salad Sandwich - Canned, but still quite tasty. - BLT - VERY good with lots of crispy bacon. - Tuna salad - VERY big and tasty salad, again nothing fancy. - Chef's Salad - see above, apply to Chef's Salad. This is the only place I can walk to at lunch and still be back in under 30 minutes, so I will definitely be back.
(4)Chris B.
1st time visiting this place. the Regular size MONTSTER sandwich was HUGE! Great sandwich, friendly staff. Sleeper sandwich shop, that serves beer. Place even has TV's and a pool table. Cool place! Will definitely be back for more! The onlyt reason that I did not give you 5 stars was because my sandwich, chips and a drink set me back $10!
(4)Peter C.
I'm a regular here after eating the Monster sandwich, which is delicious and HUGE. I don't live far from here, and the pricing is a bit high for a sandwich place but VERY worth it. The portions are VERY generous, and you can usually turn one meal into two (unless you're really hungry). I would give this place 5 stars, but they got rid of their Fish & Chips, which was one of the best things on their menu. Also, the BBQ Beef sandwich is not very tasty, which warranted the 4 stars. (I think switching the BBQ sauce and slow roasting the beef to make it more tender would make the sandwich a hell of a lot better).
(4)Lyle D.
The last of the great sandwich shops in OC. For me, the best part of a great sandwich is the bread. As you may have gathered by the infinite amount of stars I have awarded, the bread rocks!.. That said, the ingredients are always fresh and delicious. I usually order a large roastbeef with bacon on their awesome french roll, and chips, or fries, or potato salad, or things. And the bacon is REAL bacon. Not that stuff they try to sell you at subway. What the hell is that stuff, anyway? By the way, I have read some reviews that say this place is a little on the expensive side... DON'T EAT SO MUCH! Seriously, a large sandwich and side lasts me TWO days. And I am, like, the OPPOSITE of skinny... To wrap up, I eat for TWO days on TEN bones..NOT expensive. The fries?... Awesome The pastrami?... Awesome The turkey?... Awesome Beer?... Yes, please.
(5)Elton W.
Good sized helpings, but where is the flavor? Got a bacon/avocado/turkey sandwich with all the fixings, and it tasted like nothing. My coworker got a ham/turkey/avocado and agreed that flavor was missing. The decor of this place is a trip.
(3)Sarah G.
DANK SANDWICHES! this is definitely something different from the boring chains like subway and quizno's nearby. it's a tiny bit pricier than the chain stores but you get better quality ingredients * wow-whee and philly cheesesteaks are great gut-busters (with WAY more meat inside than your average quizno's sandwich). * if you're feeling something lighter, get the turkey, bacon and swiss. they got the crisp on the bacon oh so right... * the onion rings are HUGE and super fresh. you'll probably need a friend to share them the service is really quick except if you get caught there between noon and 1 (keep in mind it's a little mom-and-pop shop) love love love it.
(4)Bec S.
Love the bread! Great sandwiches, quick service what more can you ask for. Very friendly atmosphere. I recommend stopping in for a quick lunch or call ahead and order some sandwiches to bring back to the office.
(5)Jackie K.
I eat here a lot since I work so close and their sandwiches are so good! Their bread is always fresh and soft, and they load them up with meat, unlike chain sandwich shops. Their squaw bread is my favorite.
(5)Nancy G.
The age old dilemma: Where do you go for lunch when you have only one hour and there's noon traffic?? The answer (if you happen to work on red hill between Barranca and Edinger): Bread Basket This place is literally one block from my work and even if it wasn't, the service was quick and helpful and the sandwich was delish. I had the steak, avocado and cheese sandwich, which was hot and juicy and surprisingly, tasted good several hours later which was perfect because I couldn't finish this monster in one sitting. My friend got the pastrami and said it was pretty good too. They have squaw bread!! I'm so excited to try something on squaw the next time I go here... which will probably be very soon. The prices are really good too, my sandwich was under 6, as are most of the menu items. Oh, and the 6 is for the regular size, they also have a large size, but the regular is plenty big. They have Dirty Chips!! The only other place I know that carries Dirty Chips is Wholesome Choice and I feel kinda silly going there just for that so this was great for me.
(4)Susie Y.
5 stars for a little joint that serves your food through a window? Oh yes I did! It's like...going home after school and your mom says "Are you hungry, dear? Let me make you a sandwich." Ok, so it's not a home atmosphere, but whenever I take a bite of a sandwich the Bread Basket prepares me, I feel at home. The bread is always soft and fresh-like (it's not fresh-baked, but that doesn't matter here), the meats are always quality, and they keep it real simple. I've had the coppacolla, tuna, club, and today I tried their "monster"...all delicious and just what I was looking for during my lunch break from my office job. They take my order, then they give me my sandwich through that little window, and they make my day. Yum. Is all I need to say.
(5)Keith D.
Jared Fogle lost weight eating Subway, So its apparent the subs there are weak and meager.. However, The Bread Basket gives your more meat then a cattle ranch. The meats here are fresh and delicious, the bacon is crispy and bread is up Tiger Woods par (pre-scandal) Its in a cuddy little location so its easily missable but I recomend this place to anyone whos looking for a Monster of a sandwhich. Now get in there and order up "The Monster"
(5)Laura J.
After my friend told me he had a cheese steak sandwich for lunch, it triggered one of my cravings. So after spending a good 15 minutes reading reviews of various places, I decided to try this place during my lunch break. First off, like others have mentioned, the location seems a little out of place, but to the important part, the food! I got a regular famous philly. For $6.68 it was huge!! I can't even imagine what a large is like. The sandwich was a good value for the price. Lots of meat and grilled onions served hot with melted cheese. They put marinara sauce in the sandwich, which I have never had in a cheese steak, but it wasn't bad. I can't believe I ate the whole thing! My rationale was that the sandwich would not make a good left over. There is so much juice, it would make the bread soggy. If you a light eater, you probably want to split a sandwich. I gave it three stars because, it was out of my way, and I don't think I would make a special trip out there again just for that particular sandwich. If I go back and try other menu items, I will have to review this place again.
(3)Omar S.
Bread Basket is a good sandwich shop, tucked away in a business complex off of Red Hill. I like that it is not a chain, and has a Mom and Pop feel to it. The sandwiches are good, and there are a lot to choose from. Pretty decent prices as well. You can definitely taste the freshness. A good place to grab a sandwich!
(4)Rita L.
This place reminds me of a "tummy stuffers," or perhaps tummy stuffers reminds me of "bread basket." Whichever is the case, they both have "101 sandwiches". I ordered the turkey, avocado & cheese sandwich on squaw bread (w/ cucumbers), and it was tasty as usual. The portions are big, which is always a plus, and the prices are reasonable. I think my sandwich was about $4-$5. The only thing I didn't like about this place is that it's in more of a business area (think smaller warehouse type building), and the parking can be somewhat of a problem if you show up during peak time.
(4)John L.
Finally ate here after living walking distance for about a year. Got a bacon, avocado and cheese. It was delicious. Crispy bacon, excellent roll, tasty, tasty, tasty. Will absolutely be coming back . Don't fear the Bread Basket like I did for a year. Just try it.
(4)rick f.
Been going there for quick lunches for 12+ years ... I always get the same thing: ....and that's a TUNA, BACON & SWISS on a french roll and a bag o' potato chips. For the sando I always grab the Sriracha Sauce and squirt it onto the sando every other bite or so... ( YUM ! ) ...Listen, I know the pairing of Tuna, Bacon & Swiss is pretty unusual I know.. BUT ! ... coupled with the sauce, The Service and Ease of getting in & out make it no doubt the best sandwich in town !!! -R
(5)W C.
Good place for a quick cheap lunch. Typical american style sandwiches. Friendly service. Regular size sandwiches, $5-$6. Large, $7-8. The regular was good enough for me.
(4)Ryan S.
I had the super philly. The portion size was great, actually overwhelming. All of the flavors were good together and the added spice was a nice touch but the philly steak was a bit bland. The place is surprisingly large inside and has a bar and tvs which was cool. I will definitely be coming back but will go will the italian or something else next time.
(3)Kevin M.
I have only been to Bread Basket once, but I really liked it. They had a really good selection of sandwiches. I just got a turkey, bacon, cheese club, and it was exactly what I expected. The fries were good. Prices seemed pretty reasonable to me. I got the regular size sandwich and was surprised by how big it was. The restaurant had plenty of seating, much more than I am used to seeing at a deli-style restaurant. Though we didn't have any drinks, they serve alcohol and have a pool table and a few TVs that were tuned to sports games. Overall, a great place. I imagine that it could get pretty backed up during the lunch-hour rush. I will definitely go back when I am in the area.
(4)Ally S.
What the heck is this place doing in the middle of nowhere on Redhill? Although, you'll find parking and a MASSIVE menu of sandwiches. You'll be happy with the portions and the quality for the price. This place also (apparently) serves beer and has a bar with television sets. Only been there for lunch, so can't comment on the after work bar scene. THE GIST: Great place for lunch sandwiches.
(4)Andres C.
I used to eat here once a week. Now, only once in a while. Their sandwiches are good. The service is horrible. The man that takes your order is always grumpy so avoid him if you can! Other than that it's a nice little place for a quick lunch.
(1)Nick M.
Tucked away in a little office park off of Red Hill you'll find the Bread Basket. I like little mom and pop operations, and this one doesn't disappoint. The Basket offers a huge selection of sandwiches warm and cold and also has some salads and soups. And these sammies are massive while the prices are really modest. Don't get the large sandwich unless you're really hungry because these things are serious. They also have a big screen tv if you want to catch up with some sporting news during lunch and a small bar with a couple of beers on tap. But the stars here are the sandwiches.

Good sandwiches. Good fast service. One regular size sandwich is good for 2 meals for me. Love the Voodoo chips (kind of wierd, salty, spicey and sweet). Can't complain about this place a bit. Oh ya, one of my biggest bugaboos- Looks clean too!

Encouraged by the reviews I bookmarked this place as a possibility when I really need to get out of my office for lunch. Last week I went and had the veggie sandwich on squaw, which was fine. Not awesome, but good. I would certainly go back if someone else wanted to go, but probably not on my own accord. The place does get style points with me, though. Mostly because of the contrast between their place and the neighboring District - another lunch option. (I think the District is one of the most amusing places in Orange County. One of those places where the charm is so lost on me that it's funny. Bars with views of parking lots, soft romantic music piped through speakers throughout parking lot, torches and waterfalls welcoming you to Costco and Home Goods? It's just weird.) Anyway, this place is the opposite. It looks like maybe it was a bar at one point? In any case, it has an actual huge wooden counter to eat at, or a bunch of plain tables and chairs. Also many wobbling ceiling fans. Which is funny, because they look new. The whole place looks so barely kept and unpretentious and old, and then about twenty new ceiling fans that may or may not be missing a couple screws. Oh - and several old fancy china cabinet/buffet things. It is easy to forget where you are in here. You might have just stepped into some place on the side of a rural highway in the Midwest - you know, for truckers and state troopers. I like that.

i use to work next to this place and it is really a hidden gem. the sandwiches are huge and delicious, they also have lots of healthy sandwiches for the nerds and big juicy philliy cheesesteak sandwiches for the real eaters out there, i suggest the FAMOUS PHILLY with some fries or onion rings , believe me after one of these sandwiches its FOOD COMA for the rest of the day.

i remember when i was just 15 years old i would work summer jobs with my dad at MCAS Tustin on Redhill Blvd in Tustin, CA. every lunch i would have nothing but bread basket's steak, avocado, and mushroom sandwich. i'm now 30 and it was 15 years ago when i first had a bite from this marine filled deli and bar and the sandwiches are still as good as when i had my first bite. the steak sandwiches are addicting. it's never dry, always juicy. i highly recommend this place for its steak sandwiches and even for an afternoon beer. sandwiches are served quick and easy. definitely filling and made to last you through the afternoon. be warned, their sandwiches will definitely result in a food coma.

you cannot hate on this place. hands down they have the best philly cheese steaks in orange county. its not the most authentic but i mean no place in cali has authentic cheese steaks. its not just the cheese steaks though, theyre pastrami, chicken salad, fish sandwiches, are all amazing and theyre huge. nothing like those puny sandwiches you get at subway. the price does bug me a little but its a good weekly investment. you gotta make sure you go before 3 though. sometimes they run out of bread.

plain and simple. good sandwiches at good prices (the regular is LARGE). I recommend the squaw bread for the normal turkey-like sandwiches but the rolls are a must for the cheese steaks (note: they put marinara sauce on the cheese steaks so if youre not feelin that you might want to let them know in advance). they seem to specialize in the fish and chips but have yet to try them (trying to watch my winter weight...oh wait, its not winter). maybe I'll try that next week :-) the clincher is the beer and pool table. such a nice touch to an ordinary sandwich joint.

Drove by on accident while looking for another business. I'm a sucker for sandwiches, so I had to check it out. I walked in to the place and was immediately greeted by the nice employee up front. Holy crap - they have a ton of sandwiches! I choose the turkey, bacon, and cheese. Pretty standard. It was about $7. The sandwich came up quick and it was huge and served on a french roll. They have a ton of chips to choose from as well (free if you check in!) the whole meal was about $8.50 and totally worth it. The bacon was nice and crispy, the bread was soft, and it was piled high. I totally wanna come back and drink some beers and watch the game - they have NFL specials! Stop here for your lunch break and after lunch drinks.

I was looking for a new place to eat that was close enough to my work but inexpensive and casual. I came across this place in the Yelp searches so I decided to give it a try. It's in a business park, but they have a huge selection of sandwiches. I got the Italian and a side of fries. Ordering is easy and the staff is friendly. The place kind of reminds me of a dive bar, but it's really a lunch spot. They have a bar area, but I'm not sure if they serve alcohol or not. You walk up and place your order and wait for your order to be called. There's plenty of seating and TV's all over the place. The sandwich came on a 8" or 12" roll. I got the 8" and it was plenty for me. There was a lot of meat in the sandwich and the fries were good as well. Overall, it's a good place to go to. It's not exceptional, but a good solid lunch place during the weekday.

I just had the best grilled cheese that I have ever had, in my entire life- and I owe that immense pleasure to the one and only Bread Basket. Rich, gooey, melty pepper jack amidst a glorious sea of perfectly grilled mushrooms and onions, spilling out between two flawlessly browned slices of sourdough...ay, dios mio, this must be the work of divine forces, for no earthly sandwich can be this tantalizing. I thought nothing could beat the egg salad on rye that I've been getting practically every day since discovering this place, but alas, my heart has been stolen. I cannot imagine a life without this sandwich in it. I saved half of it for later, but we all know I will be done eating that by the time I finish writing this sentence........yep. BEST. SANDWICH. EVER. AND you get to listen to awesome music while you eat, and maybe even grab a beer & play some pool. Perfection.

I had the Steak and Cheese Sandwich with mushrooms and onion... It was delicious!! The meat was very moist and the grilled onions and mushrooms gave it sooooo much flavor! The cashier was extremely helpful in choosing a sandwich and the overall atmosphere was nice for lunch.

I was in the area for work and stopped here for lunch. Next time I'm in the area, I will go back. Traditional. Fresh. Friendly staff

Their sandwiches are good. I expected the bread to be a lot better considering the name, but its a cool little spot and I'll probably go again.

Was a little disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high from reading precious yelp reviews. My dad go the pastrami and it was extremely salty, as was the BLT I got. Also, I thought the bread would be top notch, as their name is bread basket, however it was just so so. Service was great though!

So I came here and ended up trying the steak sandwich with cheese and onions. I also ordered a side of the onion rings. The sandwich wasn't as good as I was expected it to be, but it was still pretty decent. Even though there was a good amount of meat, I felt it would have been better if they stuffed it with a bit more meat, especially on the sides which I felt were lacking. They have a wide variety of hot sauces on one side of the table, the ones that I recall are the Tapatio and the Sriracha. The ranch they had felt a bit watered down and not really to my liking. The ketchup packets they had I believe were Hunt's, and I'm not sure what kind of ketchup they had in the bottles. I thought the peppers they had weren't all that spicy and it tasted like it had been soaking in the seasoning liquid for too long. Overall, I probably won't be back unless I get dragged here or am really craving sandwiches. It's a few steps up above Subway for me, but still not good enough for me to love.

Is it a sandwich shop? Is it a pool hall? Is it a bar? The Bread Basket is a sandwich shop located in an industrial complex of Tustin. It does have a bar area where beer is served, with Happy Hour every night. They have one pool table in the restaurant. Although the menu has 101 different sandwiches, I have only tried steak sandwich. The steak sandwich is a sandwich made with thinly sliced ribeye steak(thin as bulgogi). As soon as you order the steak sandwich, the chef cook up the ribeye steak on the grill. The steak sandwich comes in 10 different varieties. I have only had the steak, the steak with mushrooms and onions and marinara sauce, and the Wow Whee, or steak cheese, mushroom, onion, green pepper, and marinara sauce. All of the steak sandwiches have been good, although it could use a pinch of salt. Although the menu says that they use marinara sauce for your sandwich, they don't use that much. It is the perfect amount. Any more and the marinara sauce will overpower the sandwich. If you can't make up your mind which sandwich to get, just get the Wow Whee. The steak sandwiches are very good. I still have 98 more sandwiches to try at the Bread Basket. But, why? The steak sandwich is one of the best around.

Sandwiches are good here and that is why I keep coming back. My only two complaints are the fries and onion rings are frozen and tastes like it and the chairs at the bar are too short for the bar. I will be back for sure. Also lots of bagged chips to choose from so no more fries.

I love this place! I get the steak and peperjack cheese! This is my favorite spot thanks to my boyfriend! Great little hole in the wall. Really great atmosphere for lunch! I really would recommend this place. They also have beer on tap as well if you need a nice cold one. By far my favorite sandwiches place! :)

I went for the first time - I work nearby and have wanted to try it out. Big mistake. It was 3:30 so there was nobody else in there except two women at a table already eating. I ordered an Italian sandwich, extra pickles, extra swiss cheese, no tomatoes. I was told they were out of salami - that should have been my first clue. He said they would add extra of the other meats. There was one man behind me. I waited over 10 minutes and they called the guy that ordered after me. Turns out my sandwich was done but nobody realized it ... I got back and there is NO CHEESE, NO PICKLES and EXTRA TOMATOES! They couldn't have gotten it more wrong - again, I was the only customer at the time. Being busy isn't even an excuse. I will never return. Save your time/money and go somewhere else.

I'd have to give it 5 stars, been there several times and no complaints. Big portions and the large sandwich is big enough for two

I have been coming to the Bread Basket for over two years now and won't stop coming for more. This is the best Pastrami Sandwich I have had in long time; this has become my go to spot. I was introduced to this place by a coworker who raved about their steak sandwiches. I'm not a steak sandwich kind of guy, so I ordered the tuna sandwich for lunch that time, I have also tried the Club sandwich which is a meal in itself, but the Pastrami has become my Fav and go to anytime I come to the Bread Basket. Its within a corp industrial area and many local offices come here for lunch, so it does have its local crowd, They have beer on Tap, Sports playing in the back bar area, along with a pool table. It has a sandwich shop/ bar feel to it and its really a relaxed place to come grab some great lunch.

Hidden in a small plaza. They have a wide selection of bomb sandwiches. A great place to go for breakfast and lunch
