Clean friendly fast and delicious. Not too far from the freeway. Hubs had three tacos El Pastore said it was very good and authentic. I has the carnitas torta, hold the salsa and added their green salsa at the table when it arrived. Green salsa has just a little bite to it. I like that. Free chips and salsa bar. The carnitas was crispy without being dry, just the way I like it. Cheese sour cream lettuce and guacamole all good tasty and fresh. We'll be sure to stop here again on another road trip.

It's really hard to give Mexican taquerias 5-stars but I was considering a 4 for this one. Service - Chef and cashier greets with a smile and they know the locals. This place has been around for 20 years. Thanks to yelp I ordered some of the popular items: a regular quesadilla with al pastor y tripas and a super burrito with al pastor and lengua. They warned me that the flavors were going to be mixed up a little and I didn't mind, I told them it was to be expected. Overall Taste - Order the regular quesadilla with pastor and tripas. This is what earned a 4 star in my book, but received an overall 3. The tripe is cooked wonderfully and goes well with their blend of cheeses. The tripe is not chewy and is cooked similarly to the al pastor with a kick of chili flakes to make the difference. Warning, it is oily, so eat it fast or let it drip down at the ends. Chips were on the border. Stale and not warm. Salsa bar was lacking all across the board and I usually can respect a place by how seriously they take their salsa. Green salsa was nearly finished so I tried it and was sour. Ask for a new batch. I ordered a half and half super burrito (two kinds of meats, but I usually don't do this) with 1/2 al pastor and lengua. Their lengua is served in larger chunks and I could tell it wasn't cooked today. It's not the type of lengua that falls apart as you bite into it and definitely lacks flavor. In short, don't order the lengua, but the al pastor was flavorful but just a little too oily for me. If you do takeout, I would recommend eating it within 5-10 minutes as the food can be oily and your tortilla will absorb all of its unnecessary oils. Ambiance: It's a nicely painted hole in the wall with just enough partitions to hold a fiesta in the back. Although I did notice that they used a small window air conditioner on top of a dining table to cool their guests off and placed a food tray for the water coming from the unit. P - Pricer than most taquerias, especially for the size of my "super" burrito. Order the quesadilla, skip your free chips and salsa and eat that sucker fast to truly enjoy this place.

Hate to give these guys three stars, but comparing to others, couldn't go four. Wanted to do normal taqueria test (two lengua and two pastor tacos) but told they don't do lengua although it's on the menu (first strike) So went with two asada with the pastor. The asada tacos were very good! Good flavor, filled up to the edge! The pastor tacos were covered in too much sauce to really taste the meat. A bit too much fat also. Salsa bar was good - usual fixings. But the chips today seemed a bit old - on the chewy side. Place was clean and service fast. A bit pricier than others but still reasonable. Would try some of the other taquerias before coming back here - but not off the list.

My craving for Mexican food and my overall love of good food in general left me happy after eating dinner here on 7/3/14. I recently stumbled upon this place thanks to yelp and knowing that my boyfriend is always up for a new Mexican joint, off we went. The menu is posted on the wall. I searched for a torta which I decided after a few of the reviews that I wanted this place to be where I ate my first ever torta. I ordered it w/ chicken and asked for the sour cream on the side after another reviewer said there was more of that then anything else. My boyfriend ordered the green wet burrito. While we waited for our food, we picked a seat and gathered mini cups of all the offerings at the salsa bar. To date these are the best tasting salsas I have had in Tracy and I'm pretty serious about my salsa. The food arrived and everything was delicious! The chicken was perfectly seasoned and the torta wasn't greasy which was a concern of mine as my stomach doesn't do grease. My boyfriend said his burrito had a great flavor combination- it had some bold flavors that worked together yet, it wasn't overpowering. Service was friendly and the place was clean. We will return!

Very good food. Only give it three stars because I like another taqueria better. Everyone I go here it is good. The chimichanga was not what I expected.

Stopped by this joint on a whim while Kelly was at the 99cent store. I am a sucker for a good taco with the unique meat that most people do not normally order. I saw so many pictures of the Trippa tacos and was unable to resist. I ordered the Trippa crunchy super taco and fell in love with it. The flavor was amazing and everything about it was on point. Since I ordered a super taco, I thought that it would be bigger, but that is okay, for the flavor and the memories, I will sacrifice the size. haha. I will be coming back.

Hands down, best mexican food in Tracy! Sopes, tacos, burritos, enchiladas... anything you order is going to be amazing!

Place was ok, still looking in Tracy for a bomb $5 burrito. I'll try again somewhere else.

Awesome Mexican food. My favorite is the half carne asada/half el pastor super burrito. I've had the enchiladas, rellenos, tacos, ceviche, nachos... ALL GOOD. Today I asked for a super shrimp burrito, no tortilla, add lettuce and they made it with no issues. Quick and attentive service every time!

Greasy!!!! Not a lot of flavor what so ever. Staff is really kind but food is sub par. If you want authentic Mexican food go to la costa !

Stopped in here taking an chance and had not yelped the place. Got lucky it was very good. Nice people, excellent food good service. had the super burrito with carnitas the meat was awesome and the size was enormous for a very reasonable price. Cant find anything like this where I live unfortunately.

This place is yummy! We just moved to the area and did a quick yelp search to find lunch amidst moving and this place popped up. I got the 2 taco plate, hubby got a carne asada burrito and baby got a quesadilla with rice & beans. My aunt got a carnitas burrito and my uncle got a chicken wet burrito. They have a salsa bar here with all of your normals, a pico, a green, hot and medium with limes, jalapeños.. We snacked on this while waiting for the food. The green salsa was really good. The food came out extremely fast too which is awesome. The carnitas is good! Asada was just okay and the beans and rice were okay as well. Only thing off was my sons quesadilla was extremely oily and kinda gross.

My girlfriend and I recently tried this place for lunch. We shared two super tacos (al pastor and carne asada), a cheese enchilada with onions, and a chili rellano. The only thing "super" about the tacos was sour cream--no tomatoes, no guacamole, and the taco al pastor had hardly any meat in it--it was the worst excuse for a super taco I've ever had. The enchilada was fair--it had a decent amount of cheese, but very few onions and not much flavor. Amy's frozen cheese enchiladas from the supermarket are much better. The chili rellano was terrible--it was soggy and dripping with grease. The salsa and pico de gallo from the salsa bar were mediocre at best. The people behind the counter were very friendly, but there were no paper towels in the rest room. The best thing I can say about this meal was that it was very disappointing.

By Far One of The Best Spots In Northern California, I've Been Coming Here Since A Teen, You Really Can't Miss With Anything On The Menu. Some of My Favorites Are The Breakfast Burrito, Carnitas Super Nachos, Carnitas Super Burrito(Make It Wet With Red or Green Sauce), & of Course The Traditional Menudo On Sundays To Help With That Saturday Night Hangover. I Suggest You Give It A Try For Some Deliciously Authentic Mexican Food @ A Good Price!

My trusty Yelp Bible showed me the writing on the wall again! The bf and I were trolling in Tracy for food. The solid four stars brought us to this friendly Mexican joint. He ordered 4 delectable tripe tacos while I went overboard with a scrumptious wet burrito. I figured, what the heck. We're passing through. I might as well do it right the first time! They used fresh oregano in everything. He requested crispy tripe- lovely. I had a morsel and dipped it in my red enchilada sauce. Nice! Needless to say, I was shooting for a food coma with the "regular" burrito unbeknownst to me. The "super" must feed a family of five! I savored each bite of this simplistic bean, rice and grilled chicken concoction. The chicken was soft and juicy. My grandpa could chew it with his dentures! Besides the nourishment here, the place is casual but clean, and that includes the bathroom! It's cheap, cheap, cheap too! We'll remember this place next time we pass through!

I recently moved into the area and while at a local barbershop I inquired about good Mexican restaurants in the area. They recommended Taqueria La Mexicana. This establishment happens to be around the corner from home. They have very good service and it is almost always very clean. The mural is beautifully painted. Good salsa bar. Reasonable prices. I have ordered from there a handful of times to test out the different selections from their menu. So far, I've tried their burrito, tacos, and tortas. I would say that these are maybe the most common orders for taquerias. I am a big foodie and I love Mexican food. I grew up in the Bay Area and I'm always on the quest to search for good Mexican food. Unfortunately, my experience was not as great as I was told it would be. The flavors were too bland. It wasn't made with any love. LOL! The burrito is well put together and cooked, but I really felt like it was missing something...like FLAVOR! I think the rice and beans just killed it for me. Tacos were okay. The beer-battered fish tacos might be the most appetizing - good flavor. Most recently, I ordered a torta de la milanesa, made with chicken. I was not happy with my order, especially because I was famished. The chicken basically looked and tasted like dry chicken tenders. It was just all dry. Honestly, a McChicken sandwich from McDonald's would probably be more satisfying, and I don't eat McDonald's anymore. If I ever go back, it would be for the fish tacos or if I'm in the mood to to try something new on the menu, like an entree.

I had to put one star to be able to write this review. The owner is so rude, I mean if we ask him a question about the food he shouldn't have an attitude in explaining it. For being there 20 years people should change their attitude. For being a family restaurant they should act more friendlier. Good food, bad customer service.

One word: TRIPAS! Most taquerias in town do not serve tripas due to a variety of reasons (very time consuming to prepare, not cost-worthy, not profitable, etc.), but Taqueria La Mexicana at 11th Street continues to sell it. Where other taquerias have failed, TLM has succeeded. I find it hard to pass up on the tripas whenever we go here, but I've been able to sample the lengua, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas, and the other meats/dishes, too (thanks primarily to my wife and kids for letting me try whatever they are having). Everything is tasty, but it will be tripas for me all the way. Everything else comes a distant second. Don't forget about the pickled jalapenos, carrots, and onions. Guaranteed to kick the flavor of your dish up a notch!

Searching for a breakfast burrito in Tracy, CA has been a longstanding to do, which is why I was so glad to have finally stopped at Taqueria La Mexicana on 11th Street after a long trip from Boston. I love the mural of 'what life was like' in Mexico - very good marketing. And the service from the cashier/server and the cook while I ordered was courteous and flexible. They did not have a breakfast burrito on the menu but knew immediately what I wanted - a little scrambled egg, some papas fritas, and beans, no rice or cheese. The cook was right there listening in and began working on it with gusto - something nice about being on the West Coast: knowing the server and cook understand what you want! The downside, among all that upside, was the burrito itself. The flavor was there - as a decent burrito that I would go back to if I had no other option (and I will go back), but I'm not comparing this to the restaurant itself or to my own liking of the burrito: I'm comparing against other breakfast burritos according to the criteria below. Taqueria La Mexicana used a re-fried bean as opposed to a stewed pinto; they used a potato that was cooked right next to chorizo or a sausage or some meat (I'm a vegetarian), and there was an egg shell in the scrambled egg (which wasn't really a problem, I just picked it out; and this isn't what I'm scoring them on). The tortilla was a La Banderita, a little too much flour. One of the other major pluses is the size: I couldn't finish the breakfast burrito in one sitting - only finished about 80%. Remember, our criteria for selection is: 1. the tortilla had to be home made or at least grilled warm so the flavors soaked in better, 2. the beans had to be stewing overnight or at least a long time; they had to be frijoles (pintos) and somewhat 'stewey', 3. it needed papas (potatoes) that were well cooked, but not too many of them, and well spiced 4. it needed huevos (eggs) that were scrambled just right, and not too much eggs in the burrito. 5. the salsa needed to be fresh, spicy, and tasty (either fresca, verde, or other was ok) *The great service is what will keep me coming back - especially if they are willing to work with adjusting the next order. I give them 2 stars, which is a decent mark for the restaurant. I rarely give 5's. And 4 has to be pretty outstanding. They simply didn't compare with Beantown Taqueria in Cambridge, MA or Taco Loco #2 in Lompoc, CA - both of which received 3 starts from me.

Extremely disappointed! This location was the original with great service and great food! The son opened up the 2nd location and he runs it wonderfully!! This location operated by the father has fallen way down when it comes to service!! Bad service and very greedy with the chips! I just returned and I'm extremely upset! I ordered service for 5 people and received 2 tiny bags 1/4 Bag full of chips! When I asked for one more the owner became irate and told me that only two was given and it did not matter the size of the order!!! :( he said that I appeared to be a big consumer (my size) ( I wear a size 12) and Insulted me!!!!I reminded him that we have been customers for over 20 years and our kids all grew up together! His reply was " I don't care, business is business"! I swear if my 16?year old had not been with me I would of told him to keep his order and return my 40.00! I will never ever return to this establishment again! Not till one of the children takes over and retire mean old dad! The mother was a wonderful Social lady who added the now missing charm to this ls family get together for a great burrito place! Too bad!

Been going here since just about after they opened. Love this place. Has been a "go-to" place for us many, many times. What better endorsement then our 20 years of business! Consistent, quality, nicely priced food. Service is no drama as well. Family run business. Both locations are excellent! Highly recommend!

This place had the worst fried food ever...Had their flautas combo and their were disgusting...flautas tasted like frozen rolled tacos from days ago fried in oil that has been used for days...not coming back!

This place was a nice surprise on our way to Turlock. We yelped fish tacos and this place got great reviews so we gave it a shot. The reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because its not as clean as I prefer, but overall the experience was pleasant. The tacos were delicious. I really liked their rice, which is a great sign of a good Mexican restaurant. The price was super cheap, either $6 or $8 for the fish taco plate. I would def. stop again if I was in the area.

My wife and I just moved to Tracy and we needed to find a new go-to taqueria. Fortunately, Taqueria La Mexicana is within walking distance from our house. We tried this place for the first time last night and we couldn't have been a happier. The food was quite tasty and came out really fast. The best part was that dinner for my wife and I came out to less than $14 (takeout/no drinks). My next trip to La Mexicana will be for breakfast. I love a quality breakfast burrito and they have one on the menu. To be continued...

This place is a good spot to go for fast inexpensive Mexican food. On the plus side the person who took our order was nice. He was patient even though my boyfriend took a bit of time to order and wanted a change from the normal menu. It was not long after we sat down before they came out with chips and salsa. In fact, it wasn't long after that before they came out with our order, the service is fast. The place itself is relatively clean, there is some grime here and there but it is relatively tidy. I did see them mopping when I left. I ordered fried fish tacos and carnitas, the carnitas was much better and had a good flavor while the fish was eh. The food was OK and I should really learn this by now but Mexican is spicy. If you have a milder palette, a mild is more like a medium here. Would I stop in again? Sure. Would I go out of my way to stop here? No, I'd check out what else is in the area first, but it is still a decent option.

I went off the reviews and sad to say this place was flavorless and the rice was extremely orange looking not what Mexican rice should look like it taste. This is not authentic Mexican food at all.

Four stars because its the best in Tracy. The food here is cheap! Then again, this town is in the middle of nowhere... $1.55 for tacos so I bought 5. Well worth it.

Def one of the better mexican places in the area. The food is cheap and plentiful, basic (but not as basic as La Costa) and tastes good.

This is always a resource for quick, yummy Mexican food when you aren't in the mood to cook. If the thick monstrous burrito can't fill your panza then you're out of luck, Mister Gordo. They do need a better selection of salsa. WTH is the difference between "Spicy" and "Hot"?

I had them cater a surprise birthday party for my daughter at a family members home in Tracy. The food was great & the service was even better. Not living in Tracy and not knowing anyone who had eaten here before was a risk but I was pleasantly surprised and when visiting the area I will go in for lunch or dinner! I loved their spicy salsa. Good food, good service & EXCELLENT prices!
(4)
Brian J.
The food here is about average for a taqueria. There is nothing particularly special about it. I would give it 4 stars but it's getting a 3 star since it doesn't have unlimited rounds of free chips! (They only give you one round)
(3)
Jeff L.
This is the best authentic Mexican food in Tracy, in my opinion. Everything is fresh, served hot and served quickly. It's also tough to beat the prices. The carne asada is my favorite meat at this taqueria. I've been eating at this restaurant with my family for a dozen years and will keep coming back. I give it four stars, because it is the best in Tracy, not the best in the surrounding areas. If you don't mind traveling a bit further, El Castillito in Livermore is clearly superior.

Was taken here by a friend when a craving for Mexican food came knocking. The food is yummy, meat was very flavorful and not spicy at all. Service was tops and the food was ready in less than 5 minutes.

I visited for the first time on 12/24 and placed a fairly large order to bring back for the family. We ordered: Al Pastor Tacos- The pork had very little flavor. I was disappointed. Carnitas Torta- The Carnitas were dry and were also light on flavor. There was more sour cream than any other item in the Torta. This offering was also disappointing. Pollo Asada Quesadilla and Super Nachos- The chicken was well prepared on both. These were enjoyed by all. Shredded Chicken Burrito- The chicken was well prepared. The size of the burrito was large. We were given Chips as we waited for our order. The salsa bar includes a guac salsa which was excellent. This will not be my first (or even 2nd choice) but I will not avoid visiting again.

I was next door at Starbucks writing Yelp reviews and my stomach started growling - time to munch. I didn't want to stray too far so I decided to stay within the shopping plaza. Taqueria La Mexicana was just a step outside the door. At first glance, the menu was large and a bit overwhelming. I asked the cashier what she recommended and she said "everything is great". Ugh, thanks for the help hon. I decided on a Shrimp Burrito (Diablo style). The portions were generous. The burrito barely fit into my mouth. The diablo shrimp was flavorful. It was pretty good but it wasn't absolutely memorable. I stopped eating it halfway through. I like that they provide free chips and salsa. The salsa was just okay and lacked a bit of a kick. The hot sauces were also mediocre. I'm a sauce/condiment Queen and this place failed to deliver. Would I come back? No. Not because it was god awful... but it just wasn't memorable.

Maybe I'm a bit biased because I grew up going to this taqueria, but this is the best taqueria I've ever been to hands down! This place is like the definition of authentic mexican food, I've never had a bad meal here. The burritos, nachos, quesidillas are aaaaalll good and I love their salsa bar and free chips. If you like mexican food GO HEREEE!

I've been here many times. I live right around the corner. I always order the same thing, a super steak burrito no beans. The wife and kids get the fish tacos. The chips are lightly salted and is very good. The pico de gallo salsa is good but my favorite is the salsa verde. Super good!!!! You have to try it. So it's like this... Bite the burrito, get a chip and dip in salsa verde and enjoy. Continue this until the burrito is gone. You will have a great feeling foodcoma but its worth it!!

Let's face it, Tracy is full of Taquerias and Mexican Restaurants and we've tried them all! But Taqueria la Mexicana is our favorite place for Mexican food. It's not a fancy place but the food is consistently good, the employees are friendly, the food gets to your table fast and it doesn't break the bank! They are one of the few taquerias in Tracy that serve El Pastor which is a great meat to select for any of their menu items. My husband loves their Chile Relleno. I find that sometimes they are too spicy for me--sometimes they are not but they are always delicious. One of my favorites for hot summer days is their Shrimp Cocktail. It's so refreshing and scrumptuous! This typically has the Octupus and something else in it but I always opt out for just the Shrimp. I am never disappointed. The only thing I have eaten there that I did not like was the Carna Asada plate. The carna asada steak was dry and very tough. I could not eat it. We eat here at least once a week! Try it out! I hope you enjoy it! GA

Situated in an unassuming strip mall a few miles from the highway, this Mexican taqueria will knock the socks off you. The crispy beef tacos were delicious and filling. The pollo asado tacos were amazing. I enjoyed all of the salsas and the efficient, friendly service too.

I have lived in Tracy all my life and have never visited this place. I went to their new location and I am glad I did. On one occasion I had the burrito eggs, potatoes, steak and I asked for whole beans and it was to die for! Another day I had the super nachos and they do give you plenty of food and I am happy they do, not like many Taquerias where you can't even find the meat. They don't mess around at this place they are generous with their portions. I also tried the huarache the same day as the nachos, thinking that it was going to be like other Taquerias but I couldn't finish it because the nachos were enough for me. The huarache looked good and very appealing to the eye I shared with my dad. I will go back this place, it is on top of my list. the new location is always busy (well every time I've been there) It is hard to find a table to sit and the lines are big. They should think of getting a bigger location in that shopping center or tables outside. I can tell their food is still Mexican . No canned salsas they seem very fresh to me the red and green are amazing.

I went in for a burrito on a Wed afternoon...while waiting for my order, I noticed that it smelled like smoke. The owner (older hispanic man) was in the back, in full view from the salsa bar, smoking! He even had a little handmade foil ashtray on top of the Rosarita refried bean cans (don't even get me started...you can't make your own refried beans?!?). He's the same guy who took my order and then handled my food as he packed it up to go. I didn't want to cause a scene but needless to say, I didn't eat that burrito and we've never been back. ew yuck no!

Taqueria La Mexicana has had my vote long before the world of YELP. Discovered this place in 1996 so yes I've had everything on the menu. This is where I found my favorite mexican dish A La Diabla and yes they know I like it as hot as they can make it. The family is way cool I have known them for awhile. All in all the food is really good here have a seat and enjoy.

I had fish tacos, one of the day's specials, and they were tasty, although a little skimpy on the fish. The rice and beans were good and I love that they had a salsa bar and free chips (the chips were fresh and yummy). Though you order at the register and they bring the food out to you, the dining room feels more like a sit-down restaurant instead of a cheap taqueria. I will come again (though I wish it stayed open later than 9 p.m. on weekdays).

Good food, pricing, family service and saltsa bar -- plus TV! I drop in whenever going by on I-5. Can always get lengua on my tostadas and a fulfilling meal. "A fiesta every night." P.S. The different between hot and spicy is one is hot and the other "spicy" -- we know what it means.

Ive been here twice and both times have been great! Ultimate quesadilla was enormous! Easily feeds two if you're so inclined! I'm a huge sopes fan and they do a pretty good job. The cake is a littler thicker than I'm used to, but it's still one of the better ones I've had. Once again, yelp came through!!

Large portions but lacks flavor. Even the orchata drink was doing it for me. Iv'e had way better Mexican food in the bay area than this place. Won't be goin back unless this is the only place open late at night and I want a flavorless burrito cuz I'm hungry.

Fish tacos are my favorite in this place! One order (2pcs) of these bad boys will definitely hit the spot! The place looks great as well. The owner just recently renovated the dining area and gave it that Mexican touch. I like the flat screen TV hang on the wall, it always have the game on. I regret to say this, but that's pretty much the only thing I like about this place. I hope the owner could read this and make some kind of changes on the menu. The Steak Super Burrito is ok; it's not something that I would order again tho. The chicken quesadilla is always dry and sometimes bland. Needs some fresh celantro or green onion in it. The nacho cheese is pathetic. PLEASE, do something about how you guys prepare this! I give you plus point on heating up the beef on your griddle. Using a shredded cheese and melt it in a microwave for your nacho cheese turns me off. Using a styro to heat it up with the nachos makes me want to run away and never comeback.

Good food! Fast service! Dine in or take out! Even a place to sit and watch a game if you want to. We've eaten here several times since they opened and I've yet to have a bad meal. Great Mexican taqueria and close by to my home.

I was organizing a Teachers Appreciation Lunch for a local middle school that needed to feed about 80 adults. I took the suggestion of the principal to have tacos and I called around to the local taquerias to price them. La Mexicana was the only taqueria kind enough to offer a $1 off per person discount on a lunch that included tacos, with choices of three different meats, toppings, salsas, rice and beans. I coordinated it with Angelica, and she was extremely polite and professional in her communications. I spoke with her a week prior to the lunch and she even called, the morning of, to confirm the headcount. She arrived on time, with a friendly crew, set up and it all went smoothly! Not only that, the teachers were pleased with the choice and I've received very positive feedback, following the event! I'm very thankful to Angelica for taking into consideration that this was an annual school event, and allowing for the discount, but I'm even more grateful for the excellent food that was served. Teachers put so much of themselves into their jobs, by encouraging the futures of our children, they deserved a good meal. La Mexicana did a fantastic job, providing a wonderful meal for all who attended! I highly recommend them to anyone wanting tacos served at a gathering, party or event. Delicious food and efficient service!

I don't know when I first discovered this taqueria, but boy am I glad that I did. I've been going to this Taqueria for over 10 years now and I've never once had a bad meal here. This is by far my favorite place in Tracy...possibly even EARTH. It's not the healthiest food out there (thanks, Captain Obvious!), but it is just so damn good. I'm not proud of this, but there was a period of time about 8 years ago where I had this place for 6 straight meals. That could either be a testament to the quality of food at this place or the disturbing lack of care that I have for my heart. I have since then toned down my Taqueria intake so that I can live a longer life and enjoy this gem for more years of my life. My go-to meal options usually revolve around the Super Burrito and the Super Nachos. I've had other items here that were also great, but these two just happen to be my favorites. Picking one can often be difficult. I compare it to trying to pick your favorite offspring. You really just can't do it. Regardless, you can't go wrong ordering either of these options. I've tried many of the different types of meat that they offer. Here's a rundown on the meats I've tried: Carne Asada - Scrumptious Chicken - OK, not my favorite Pollo Asado - Scrumptious, this is the only way to order their chicken in my opinion. Chile Verde - Also delicious Carnitas - Delicious (starting to see a theme here???) Al Pastor (marinated spicy pork) - Wonderful Tongue - This one was unique. Didn't dislike it, but probably wouldn't order it again. The super burrito comes with your choice of meat, cheese, rice, beans (pinto; I usually order it without or ask for refried instead as the pintos tend to dry out the burrito), pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. I like to also have them add in some of their taco sauce and wow is this a good burrito. The super nachos come with your choice of meat, refried beans, cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream. I've tried many of the other taquerias around Tracy (and other cities) and have not been able to find another taqueria that comes anywhere close to the level of greatness that this one provides. The ambience inside isn't the greatest, but I usually get my order to-go and just eat it at my mother's house. If I could marry a restaurant, it'd be this one. Heck, I've even thought about asking the cute girl who often runs the cash register out just for an opportunity to marry into the Taqueria. This place is simply A+++++ awesome.

My wife and I loved the food and the prices... the only potential down side was the noisy atmosphere. Perfect for a quick meal!

I wasn't going to review this place because I thought I've never been here but it hit me when I saw the 99 cent store link here. I have been to this place. When I go on my mad two to three hour walk with my dog (I hated being in the house and at the time my dog was a really fat chihuahua (had him neutered and he hated life after that so he probably ate like a depress seventeen year old girl) so I would walk him all over Tracy. The food here was soo good so I walked here with my dog got food. Best place around

Great burrito! Awesome prices! And the mural made me smile too. Plus it's so close to me...I'll be back for sure.

I love love LOVE this place!!!! Their chile verde plate is the BEST in Tracy. And trust me i've tried many. I am a mexican food addict. This place always exceeds my expectations. The staff is always very friendly as well and prices are pretty good. If you havent tried the chile verde, it is a must!

Good food. Tried the super nachos and the tacos. Only problem is I can only stuff so much food in my face at once. Will definitely be back more of the menu.

This place is clean, good service and food is good. Chips and salsa is free which is a plus most places charge you. And it's relatively cheap.

I haven't gone to this restaurant in years, but I finally went the other day and it's as good as I remember! Whenever I go to a taqueria I get a burrito of al pastor, and it usually results in a tummy ache, but not from here! The meat was delicious and had little to no chunks of fat in it. Wonderful food!

We have been coming here for years and can not say a single bad thing. Love the food! Our staple is a carne asada super burrito plate. But anything you choose will be well worth it. Large portions and a great price.

Living in the bay all my life, I was devastated to come to realize that Tracy doesn't have an epic taqueria. I've been to La Mexicana twice. The first time I had a veggie burrito and cardne asada tacos. they were just OK. My husband had the carnita burrito which he said was amazing. So yesterday, we went there again. My husband ordered the same thing but wet. it smelled soooo amazing and he wouldn't let me get a piece, that's how good it was. I ordered carnita enchilada plate that comes with 2 enchiladas, rice, beans, sour cream, lettuce and guacamole for $6.99. The enchiladas were soooooooooooooooooo f*cking good. that's really all i have to say. lol i give this place 4 stars only because not everything on their menu is great. if you try this and don't enjoy it the first time, come back and try something different. service is sweet and the place is clean.

Food was microwaved to the point it burnt my mouth and I couldn't even eat it because it stayed scorching hot. Not to mention how many bathroom breaks I had at work the next day

Raised in San Diego and moving to San Jose I could never really find a Mexican restaurant that was to my liking. Then I found this place and I really enjoy their selections but it still isn't like the food in San Diego.

Amazing burritos!!! A bit on the expensive side compared to other taquerias in the area, but very good

Food is good- place is busy. Their Shrimp cocktail is very very good & loaded with shrimp. This location is in need of a little updating, but it is much larger than their new location on S. Tracy Blvd. The salsa is tasty and you have several to choose from at the salsa bar & the chips are hot. My son loves their burritos, hubby always seems to order what ever the daily special is...lol I like the carnitas and the shrimp dishes. Prices are good, service is fast & the food is tasty.

My favorite taqueria! - Everything is soooo good and the prices are pretty reasonable, since I usually order a super burrito and make 2 meals out of it for around 7 bucks. Good salsa bar, I wish they gave you more chips free, but they are only 50 cents a bag (you get 1 free). What it lacks in ambiance , it makes up in YUM!

I love this place and that's all I can say...everything I've tried there is delicious. The staff is nice there too and doesn't mind my 4 year old daughter walking up to the counter to ask them a million questions!

this place warms their tortillas in the microwave!!!!! I saw it too and i asked them that why dont they warm them up on the stove, and they told me that that's their routine and that's how they make their tortillas! (EWK) the tortilla's taste like plastic! and ONE small fish taco costs approx $5 !!!! What the HECK???! which by the way was SOOO F'n DISGUSTING!!!!!!!

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(3)TC B.

(4)Benjamin C.
Very good food. Only give it three stars because I like another taqueria better. Everyone I go here it is good. The chimichanga was not what I expected.
(3)Tony N.
(4)Sarah K.
Hands down, best mexican food in Tracy! Sopes, tacos, burritos, enchiladas... anything you order is going to be amazing!
(5)Kaylani C.
Place was ok, still looking in Tracy for a bomb $5 burrito. I'll try again somewhere else.
(3)Arianne T.
(5)Megan C.
Greasy!!!! Not a lot of flavor what so ever. Staff is really kind but food is sub par. If you want authentic Mexican food go to la costa !
(2)Doug B.
Stopped in here taking an chance and had not yelped the place. Got lucky it was very good. Nice people, excellent food good service. had the super burrito with carnitas the meat was awesome and the size was enormous for a very reasonable price. Cant find anything like this where I live unfortunately.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Tracy! The food is delicious. The proportions are huge and the prices are great.

East Bay Tracy!...we all San Francisco transplants, and when we want that good Mexican food we head over to Mission and 24th....but here in Tracy we go here...Real Deal!!!! Highly recommended!!!! Our own little Mission District in the deep East Bay Area..Tracy California

(4)John R.

(2)Sandra H.
I had to put one star to be able to write this review. The owner is so rude, I mean if we ask him a question about the food he shouldn't have an attitude in explaining it. For being there 20 years people should change their attitude. For being a family restaurant they should act more friendlier. Good food, bad customer service.
(1)John L.
(5)Rustin S.
Best Mexican food in Tracy. You can tell this is authentic family made for you and not just thrown together. You want real Mexican food this is the place.
(5)John B.
(2)Mhateen W.
Okay so I came into this place ordered a burrito and omgawddddd it was amazing each bite was just so amazingly good and yummmy, and delicious!! Thank you for your amazing burrito, and it's the 20th year being open that should tell you something rite there!!
(5)Richard D.
One of the best Mexican food places around...We have been here many times. This is a great Taqueria!
(5)Sean T.
The food was not that great.. I had an asada taco took one bite and left it - no flavor. I also had a regular pastor burrito, this was better but definitely wouldn't come back.

One of the best places in Tracy Great food, Customer service is amazing always smiling seems to be a family owned place and there's bunch of tvs to watch the soccer game. What more can you ask for !!! My go to place every Time I come thru here !
(5)Rosie H.
Too bad!
(1)Jeff F.
Been going here since just about after they opened. Love this place. Has been a "go-to" place for us many, many times. What better endorsement then our 20 years of business! Consistent, quality, nicely priced food. Service is no drama as well. Family run business. Both locations are excellent! Highly recommend!
(4)Daysi B.
This place had the worst fried food ever...Had their flautas combo and their were disgusting...flautas tasted like frozen rolled tacos from days ago fried in oil that has been used for days...not coming back!
(1)Audra M.
(4)Josh B.
(5)Demetry B.
Just moved to Tracy from TN and thought I would stop here to satisfy my craving for Mexican food and I wasn't the least bit impressed. Very bland and their salsa wasn't good at all. I won't be going back!
(1)Laura R.
Delicious food, and really quick to go service. Book marking this as a place to come when I'm passing through Tracy. We ordered nachos, enchiladas, and burrito. Everything was tasty.
(4)Lisa R.
(3)Karla S.
I went off the reviews and sad to say this place was flavorless and the rice was extremely orange looking not what Mexican rice should look like it taste. This is not authentic Mexican food at all.
(1)Killah K.
Four stars because its the best in Tracy. The food here is cheap! Then again, this town is in the middle of nowhere... $1.55 for tacos so I bought 5. Well worth it.
(4)Temma D.
Def one of the better mexican places in the area. The food is cheap and plentiful, basic (but not as basic as La Costa) and tastes good.
(4)Alex L.
This is always a resource for quick, yummy Mexican food when you aren't in the mood to cook. If the thick monstrous burrito can't fill your panza then you're out of luck, Mister Gordo. They do need a better selection of salsa. WTH is the difference between "Spicy" and "Hot"?
(5)Dianna R.
(4)Brian J.
The food here is about average for a taqueria. There is nothing particularly special about it. I would give it 4 stars but it's getting a 3 star since it doesn't have unlimited rounds of free chips! (They only give you one round)
(3)Jeff L.

By far the best Mexican in town. The flautas are delicious as are the crane asada tacos. The staff is also very friendly.

Great people! Great Food and fun environment!! Try not to keep this a secret!! It is hard to find but well worth the effort

(5)Bj R.

I didn't want to cause a scene but needless to say, I didn't eat that burrito and we've never been back. ew yuck no!
(1)Sheila M.
It was alright Mexican food. I liked it but my boyfriend thought the steak burrito was gross.

Best spot in Tracy for sure, al pastor super burrito is on hit
(5)John W.
(4)Mike S.
Been to both locations many times and will keep going back. Excellent food. Service i would rate a B
(5)Frank V.

(5)Arielle F.
(5)Javier C.
Good food. Tried the super nachos and the tacos. Only problem is I can only stuff so much food in my face at once. Will definitely be back more of the menu.
(4)Dennis M.
This place is clean, good service and food is good. Chips and salsa is free which is a plus most places charge you. And it's relatively cheap.
(3)Leslie I.
(5)Kristen B.

(4)Justin D.
Food was microwaved to the point it burnt my mouth and I couldn't even eat it because it stayed scorching hot. Not to mention how many bathroom breaks I had at work the next day
(1)Vanessa D.
Raised in San Diego and moving to San Jose I could never really find a Mexican restaurant that was to my liking. Then I found this place and I really enjoy their selections but it still isn't like the food in San Diego.
(5)Tony G.
Great authentic a la carte Mexican food.
(5)Jessica A.
Amazing burritos!!! A bit on the expensive side compared to other taquerias in the area, but very good
(4)Debbie M.
(4)Kat G.
(5)Danielle M.
I love this place and that's all I can say...everything I've tried there is delicious. The staff is nice there too and doesn't mind my 4 year old daughter walking up to the counter to ask them a million questions!
(5)Laura S.
this place warms their tortillas in the microwave!!!!!
