We stopped here, because Gus's was closed -it was Sunday. We were seated very quickly, we had 8 people in our group. Our waitress attended to us rather quickly and I noticed she wasn't writing down any of our orders- I had some very picky eaters in my group that ordered their meals in a very complicated manner. She repeated our orders back to us and we still weren't sure about how our food would arrive. Well, everything was exactly as ordered. I had the peppery burger with fries and this burger was really good, well done and the produce was fresh. The fries were real potatoes with potato skin on them and they weren't greasy. My husband ordered gumbo, which he didn't say he liked or disliked. My daughter had the Cajun chicken fettuccine- she really liked it, she said it was way better than the dish they serve at Chili's. I only gave 4 's because the place itself looks really nice from the outside, however the inside really needs to be updated and I didn't like the back room we were seated in. The menu could use some updating as well. Costumer service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place and I will return!

Had dinner tonight on our way through Sonora. Service, fantastic. Waitress, fantastic. Food C- I had BBQ tri -tip. Meat was tough. BBQ sauce extremely spicy. Fries delicious. Husband had hot pastrami, meat very dry (Note to chef, by smoothening sandwhich in cheese does not make it less dry) The 3 stars are for the service and the great waitress we had. We didn't know her name but she was very attentive, personable and had a very sweet smile. If your interested in beer and sports on TV the bar had every seat taken.....

Pretty decent food, especially for Sonora. Before I was vegetarian I always ordered their cheese steak, super great. Their fries are beyond fabulous. And the pasta selection is very good, highlights include the cajun chicken *without chicken for me.* Very much love this place, always will. Also, if you like spice, get the jalepeno poppers. Crazy good.
(4)Jill R.
One of the best restaurants in Sonora! Try the tri tip tacos and the deep fried artichoke hearts off the secret menu!
(5)Sara D.
I came here hungry and left stuffed. I had the Peppery Cheesesteak sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was huge and the fries were the best I've ever had! The price was reasonable, too. I'll definitely come back!
(5)Starr G.
Great food! Something for everyone's tastebuds. Perfect for larger groups and kids that just finished playing sports!! Definitely try this place if you like flavorful food!
(5)Megan R.
Sooo good!! Huge portions, fastest service I've ever had at a sit down restaurant, delicious food, great environment, lovely staff. Our server was was Emily, she was great!! We are just visiting Sonora but I would definitely come back if we in the area again!!

Strike 1: empty dining room so she seats us next to the gross kitchen hallway. Silly hostess! Strike 2: my iced tea glass has a big gross goober stuck to it. Silly waitress! Strike 3: waitress doesn't ask how to cook the burger; she just brings it overdone and dry. Silly! Bonus: in spite of claims to the contrary, ingredients not in fact fresh at all. Bacon bits from a bag, not cool. A fine place to drink beer and watch sports I suppose but skip the food.

Stopped in to eat with 2 of my girlfriends on a Thursday evening. One of my friends had a broken foot and was in an aircast. There were several empty tables, as well as a couple of corner booths available. When we asked if we could have the booth so our friend could elevate her foot, we were told that those booths were only for parties of 5 or more. We sat and waited for 20 minutes for a regular booth. The entire time that we were there, they never sat anyone in those 2 large booths. In fact, but the time we were done eating, the place was rather deserted. Our server was very attentive and was very good. No complaints there. The food wasn't as good as I hoped. We all ordered the special, Pollo Con Fettuccine. Rather bland, skimpy on the mushrooms, and dinner bread. Side salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber) was an additional $4.95. All in all, I wasn't impressed, and if I never go back, it will be OK. Sorry Peppery, your hostess and quality of food needs improvement.
(2)Private W.
Great fries! The fish and chips was great! The pulled pork, not so much. Both times unfortunately our waitresses weren't friendly and forgot things like refilling our drinks, extra napkins etc.

We were a HUGE group of rowdy roller derby girls come in for dinner. Our server was Sarah and she was incredible. She gave each and every one of us the best service. I really hope she made a bunch of cash tips from us because we loved her. Thanks Sarah! She also split our bills. There was literally 25 of us. Who does that? Sarah, that's who. The food was tasty and perfect for after a day of roller derby.

We're local to Sonora, but I haven't been to the Peppery for years. I'm a vegetarian, so the options were incredibly limited - I chose between a house salad, a pasta dish, and the peppery pocket. I picked the pocket, which is advertised on the menu as a pita stuffed with sauteed veggies, swiss cheese & garlic sauce. My plate arrived with a soggy, flat pita, covered in little strips of red pepper and a MOUND of cheese. So much cheese, oh my lord. I didn't know how I was supposed to eat it. I tried to fold it into a taco, but the bread was so soggy that it broke through the bottom. So I ate it like a pizza, with a fork. The sauce was so salty that I couldn't finish even half of the plate. I love my town & love to support local businesses, but sadly I won't be going back to the Peppery.

I find this restaurant in yelp and what a good choice. We are 4 french guys to came here. We order 3 steak (pepper and garlic) and 1 avocado salad. The steak is amazing, very tender and tasty. The vegetable are good (very rare in usa) This place is in my top 5 for eat a steak. For some people 25$ for a steak this is expensive but doesn't matter. The server (i think sarah) was very kind with us. she advise us to choose the best beer and food.
(5)Jillian F.
I have been here several times and am never disappointed! They have several gluten free options, and all of their sandwiches/burgers can be made on their gluten free bread. The peppery chicken sandwich is by far the best thing on the menu!
(5)A R.
I ordered the artichoke pasta it smelled good. So it was canned artichoke hearts quartered about 8 pieces. Broth I think chicken chopped tomatoes and some red pepper flakes( I think that's what I tasted) do they not know how to make a pasta sauce? Appear toy not!! They should have put some cream in less broth and some adagio or parmigiana!! Terrible my 20 year old son makes a better past. You can't tast the artichoke unless you eat one of the quarters and then it taste like the can!!
(2)Tchad T.
The steak and sirloin is good. Love the waitress we had, she memorized all our orders without writing it on a paper. It's a restaurant for sure that I'll come back to for lunch and dinner.
(5)John F.
Any time I pass through Sonora I hit this place up. It is clearly the best place in town. The food is always good and the service is good.
(5)Ashley N.
I have eaten here three times since they've opened that I can remember. The first time was alright, the second time was wonderful and the last time was simply disappointing. I usually get a cheeseburger with fries. This time I switched it up and got sweet potato fries. They tasted like old fryer oil and left a foul aftertaste in my mouth. I want to like this place and try it again, as it is so popular and has a nice atmosphere and staff, but the hit or miss food quality might not be worth it.
(3)Tim S.
The food and service is always really good here it's definitely a good spot to go to. If you don't like noisy places this might not be the spot for you. It honestly doesn't bother me I'm more concerned about the food
(5)Josh K.
Been here a few times. They have some pretty unique steak toppings to choose from. I had the habanero garlic last time. It was great, but so hot. I had to take breaks from the heat. The waitress warned me, but I'm glad I experienced it. The Peppery is my favorite steak place in Sonora. Their pasta is as good as anything you might find on the East Coast. Their service seems on par and their kitchen is very fast and efficient from my experiences. Their parking lot is on part of a hill which is a little weird. If you're looking for a quality dinner place look no further than The Peppery.
(5)Joel G.
The service was great! Our server was very attentive. The portions were very big and we left full and satisfied. We were worried that we might have a long wait because it was so popular, but we were seated in five minutes and our orders arrived from the kitchen very quickly.
(5)Margaret M.
Amazing!!! I have been here twice since moving to Sonora both times memorable. Excellent service and the food has been phenomenal and cooked to perfection. Tonight I had the rib eye with cheddar jalapeño mashed potatoes and summer squash. Excellent meal all the way through!!! I wish I had room for dessert because looking around the dining room there were some fantastic looking desserts being consumed!!!! Highly recommend both lunch and dinner!!! (You cannot go wrong with the tri tip au jus with onion strings for lunch ~ FANTASTIC!!)
(5)Greg E.
This was our first time eating at the Peppery in several years and maybe today was just an off day because our experience today was just not what we expected it be when compared to our last. We were seated fast but after that it all went downhill... Being Valentine's Day we expected a crowd but this was one I would expect at a kids restaurant with video games, screaming and yelling five year olds with parents who refused to admonish or say anything to quiet them made this meal miserable for everyone there. After being seated by a pleasant host who brought us silverware crusted with the DNA from previous patrons we asked for clean ones and after receiving them we ordered our meal. I had the BBQ tri-tip and my wife had the fish tacos which after taking one bite she said they tasted like shrimp, not cod as the menu stayed! My meal is best described as just ok in my opinion, the tri-tip was closer to dry then moist & the lettuce was wilted and took a lot more effort to chew and swallow then it should have. Finally after almost a half hour of our ears ringing from the screams of others children who were in dire need of discipline we got up and got the heck out of there stopping only to give praise to the parents of one young girl who behaved very well, speaking quietly with the manners of someone who has been taught appropriately my her responsible parents! After this experience with the peppery I can say with confidence we will not go back, the "gar & brill" is gone and unfortunately the current owners have allowed this previously decent restaurant to change to a place that seemed more like a play ground for the incorrigible! If you choose to try it despite our opinion then my only comment for you is good luck & bring you own silverware and hearing protection cause your going to need it!
(2)Havilah S.
Please REMODEL! That being said... I like the Peppery. Although their SOUPS are never consistently the same, they all taste good & bring me comfort on a cold day. For American fare they exceed most standards and are better than your average greasy spoon diners. Their off-menu TURKEY CLUB is filling, $10 & delicious (big enough for two)
(3)N C.
I used to go here a lot because it's convenient location close to work. Something has happened in the last couple years causing a steady decline in their cooking. You still can't go wrong with their salads. I like the tri-tip salad with french fried. Hard to screw that up! Their pizza is no longer worth ordering and there are better burgers in the county. I don't know how it declined so much. Maybe it's the SF Giants stuff they have decorating the bar. Yuk!
(2)Anita P.
This is an excellent restaurant for casual and fine dining. Easy access, great parking. Well maintained exterior.
(4)Rick K.
Second visit to The Peppery. Very pleasant staff - very friendly. I thought the clam chowder was quite tasty - would go back just for that. I had chesse burger, fries and coleslaw - not heat but not bad. Wife had tri tip sandwich and onion strings - pretty good. Will plan to go back,
(4)Teri F.
Had lunch here on Sunday and it was so good! Deep fried asparagus appetizer was delicious. Perfectly fried and tender. Had a cup of clam chowder and it was the best clam chowder I've ever had. A slight spice to it. I was only disappointed with the amount in the cup though, because it was literally about three mouthfuls for about $3.25 Had a small Chinese chicken salad and it was pretty good, though I probably wouldn't get it again. Our server was great!
(4)Phong D.
This was my third visit in 5 years and once again I think the Peppery gets 3 stars. I ordered the habanero steak hoping it would be as good as the first time that I had gotten it, but sadly it had changed. I'm convinced that the price is the same, but the portion of steak is smaller and spiciness turned way down. Part of the fun of the habanero steak in the past was the pain and sweat. Sadly, I got neither of those.

I could not check in or post photos from here, as I did not have cell service in the restaurant. The Peppery is a place we've stopped and ate at before on our way to & from Twain Harte. The parking outside is a little strange, and in the winter when there's snow or even worse ice, it can be tricky. The the restaurant itself is large, warm & friendly, with some type of sports usually on the tv's. As for the decor or ambiance? Well, not so good, but hey, when you're up in the foothills or up skiing for the day, it's all about the food! And let me first say the food is good, not great, but I enjoyed my meal enough. My favorite is their Peppery soup, a puréed vegetable soup with cream and a nice spicy red bell pepper taste to it! I really liked it, and would love the recipe! I also went with their champagne vinegarette salad, with candied walnuts, cranberries and pears along with chicken and Gorgonzola cheese. The greens in the salad itself were fresh and very good, as was the dressing. The candied walnuts were a little strange, as they tasted more like sweet walnuts with a meat & spicy flavor to them! Kinda weird for a salad. As were the pears, they tasted as if they were first soaked in lemon and sugar water, like a Popsicle or something! And the Gorgonzola cheese was nonexistent! But all in all not too bad a salad. My dinner entrée was the chipotle chicken tortellinis, the tortellinis could have been cooked more al dente, I prefer a firmer pasta. But not a bad dish. The chicken on both my salad and pasta was ok, I much prefer the chicken to be grilled "fresh" & served hot for each individual salad and pasta dish. It makes for a much nicer presentation along with a much better tasting meal experience. I would eat here again, not for the lackluster atmosphere, but for their Peppery Soup. It was that good!
(3)Katie L.
Love this place! Probably my favorite in Sonora. The food is delicious! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu every item I have had is yummy. The only downside is that its only beer and wine but I will drink a sangria any day. Our favorite server is becka she always gives us excellent service :)
(5)N T.
The Peppery consistently has excellent service and great food. We go to the Pepper very often, at least twice a month and are never let down. The food is great, we usually stick to what we know but are always impressed with the service. I highly recommend the Peppery to anyone I know.
(5)Linda B.
We recently moved here from Southern California. We used to come up every year for vacation and went to the Peppery. We liked their food and their prices are reasonable. Yesterday we stopped by just to have a couple of draft beers. It took the bar person about 5 minutes to even show up. We ordered a beer and noticed there were a few men at the bar drinking beer. I asked our bar server why their beers were bigger than ours. She said "They are regulars and the owner gives them their own glasses and they get 4 ounces more for the same price". I could not believe this. We felt as if we were 2nd class patrons and decided to not patronize this place again. We're not part of the Sonora "Good Ol' Boy community". Just a couple of retirees trying to stretch our pensions and do not appreciate this kind of unprofessional business practice.
(2)Tony G.
The Peppery has a very original menu and atmosphere. The food has spice but with a ton of different flavors. The chefs are trained well and keep professional at all times; I should know, I had the honor of working with the Peppery crew. They are all great people that run the show, from the extremely talented chefs, to the beautiful waitresses on the floor. Plus, they have a great draft beer selection! Planning an event or banquet? Don't forget to check out their upstairs room for future rentals! The Peppery is a large part of the Tuolumne County community, and a very large amount of our community supports and loves it. With such a large variety of options on the menu, you'll surely find something you enjoy. Just make sure you save room for dessert! The brownie bomb and mud pie are the best!!
(5)Amber F.
The look of the building is so much nicer than the inside. I thought it would have better looking furniture and there's ugly green booths, stools, and wooden chairs. They don't server liquor only beer and wine. They have a HUGE U shaped bar that they don't do anything with and on the top on the ceiling of the bar area there are sport flags. I just think they could make this place look so elegant to match the food. The food my bf and I had tasted really good and lots of flavors and choices. Pricing is good. There were mainly a lot of women server and I didn't see one male server. But they were all very nice.
(3)clara P.
We love the Peppery and every time we are in Sonora this is our go to place to eat. Favorites include the shrimp appetizers. Another item that we always order is the clam chowder...we even get it to go. They have a specials menu that I keep track of on their FB page. I really like that the food has a little kick to it. Service is friendly and fast! Also they have wonderful iced tea.
(5)Adrian P.
Just finished having supper with the fam, very delicious .Worth every penny.. would definitely recommend this fantastic place to anybody... Ade...
(5)Big E.
I don't know that I'd return here. My wife's shrimp linguine was drenched in lemon. When we expressed our disappointment in the food, we got a "deer-in-the-headlights look from the waitress. No, "I'm sorry" or "Let me take it back and have it corrected". Definitely not worth the price. We tried the Brownie Bomb by yelpers recommendation. The taste redeemed the presentation. We literally couldn't see any of the dessert under the mountain of whip cream (canned). The more I write, the more I wonder why I'm not rating this a 2 star, so I'll quit here and let you decide.
(3)Erin P.
Start off with the beer battered fried asparagus with ranch.. You won't regret it trust me!! Everything else on the menu is so good it's hard to choose! Ooh I love the onion strings too !!
(4)Patrick B.
Good service and satisfactory food; but with the peppery restaurant name you would think their peppers would be a little fresher.
(3)Katie H.
It's ok. I was there for a catered meal/meeting. The food was plentiful but it tasted just ok. I was disappointed by the mashed potatoes.... Does everything there need to be over seasoned with red pepper... I know the name is The Peppery, but don't forget the flavor when cooking. I won't go there again to try their menu items.
(2)Ricci S.
I do like this place, but that might be because I only order one thing every time I go. I always get the same pasta dish, and that's only because the menu has been the same for what seems like a hundred years. I've been going there since I was a little kid and literally nothing on that menu has changed. It would be great if they could add some new items, appetizers, entrees, anything. Just something new. The service is alright. Sometimes they're very friendly and attentive, and other times you barely see them once. I don't know, I like the place, the food I order never disappoints, just in need of something new.
(3)Melanie L.
This is a place that the whole family enjoys going to! The staff is always friendly and informative on dishes, food is consistently good, and the atmosphere is fun! A few favorites: - My boys love their wood stove pizza - The fish tacos are so good! - The Peppery Soup- Yum! - Sliced tri tip with cheddar jalapeno mashed potatoes- to die for!! - Cajun Chicken Fettucine - Love it!
(4)Clare C.
One of the best places in town! I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger, it was awesome! They definitely are not shy with the bacon, loved it! Service was awesome and everything was great! Definitely worth stopping in!
(5)Kiwe W.
Standard pub fare. Beer and a garlic stuffed cheese bread with fresh bruschetta. Relatively good. Fried asparagus was light and tasty with a crunchy batter that was not at all greasy. Fair amount of beer on tap, including New Castle, Blue Moon, and Sierra Nevada. Again, nothing special. Three stars for lack of ambiance and not enough room at the bar for non-locals.
(3)Tammera W.
Thank you to The Peppery for treating our Tuolumne County Women's Network group so well. They work with our groups dietary needs and give us great meal choices. The staff is professional and always polite. I recommend The Peppery for your family group events, or private family dinner. Service, food and price all done very well.
(5)Johnny P.
Food is very good. Had the chipotle pasta. Very good. Not to spicy. Good service for the most part
(5)Jeff M.
Eaten here a dozen times now. Food is above average with normal prices. One of the best places to get a steak in Sonora ca. The staff is super friendly. Not the best ever, but very consistent in what you get.
(4)Brandon C.
Service was almost as bad as the food. I wish we'd just went to McDonald's -- would have saved money and time... and had better food. Apps came out with the main course, if you can call it that. We didn't finish it, but apparently the empty glass and pushed away plates weren't hint enough that we weren't pleased and that we needed someone to swing by our table. Overall, I've had better experiences at truck stops. Do yourself a favor and ignore this place or be prepared to spend too much on crappy food.
(1)JL S.
The place was a little loud due to the open area bar near the eating area. That was the only thing that was bad. The rib eyes were cooked to perfection & seasoned well. You received plenty of food and the service was great. If you want a steak in Sonora, Ca go to the Peppery.
(4)Bruce B.
Now here is a five star gar and brill. This is a bright star in Sonora. The menu is complete and the beer list is exhaustive. They must have 15 different beers on tap. They also have three large screen TV's to watch the best of sports.
(5)Randy L.
Just got done sledding at Leland Sno Park, having dinner with my wife and kids at The Pepper Gar & Brill. Love this place, Habanero Ribeye, one of the best steaks, food is always great and staff is always smiling and friendly! Not sure why there have been recent bad reviews, because every time we come here this place never disappoints. The steaks are cooked perfect and the kids always love their burgers and nuggets!
(5)Roxie K.
Went there two days ago for dinner. Nothing to write home about. The food came out really fast and I don't think that's a good thing. My son did not like the burger and he eats burgers in every restaurant. I found that odd so I tasted it and found that it did not taste fresh at all, kinda tasted like it's been sitting there for a while. I ordered the fish and chips and have to say that it was not very good, VERY greasy. I give the Service 5 stars though, very friendly!
(3)Bill W.
Is it a bar with a restaraunt attached? I like the food, and the service is good, but the bar in the center of the restaraunt dominates the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I love the large varieties of beer on tap. It just seems that there should be a division between the loud patrons playing dice and using profanity, and the families with small children. There is a lot of square footage to this place, it seems strange that the owner doesn't utilize some of it for the bar crowd.
(3)K R.
We live in Sonora, but we hadn't eaten at the Peppery in years because it was terrible the last time we ate there. Went again and it is still bad. I had a turkey bacon sandwich. The bacon was an undercooked rubbery mess, the turkey was cold and the bread was mushy. There was a huge pile of garlic fries, all under one inch long, which were nearly impossible to eat. The only saving grace was our server, who was very nice. I won't go back.
(1)Julie C.
Excellent! Fast seating, clean comfortable dining room. Waitress took order by memory and everything came to the table as ordered! Food came to the table quickly and was presented beautifully. And the taste? FANTASTIC! Tri-tip sand, burgers, and fajita salad were amazing. The balsamic vinegar in the cold slaw is a genius signature. When we are in the area, a stop at Pepper is a must!
(5)Malcolm C.
My wife and I go to the Peppery every six months or so to see if the food has improved, but it really hasn't. The service is pleasant, the place is moderately clean, but the food is your basic diner fare, not done very well, with dishes added to try and make you think it is more up market than it really is. Peculiar combinations of fruit and sweet sauces added to dishes tend to drown out the flavor in most of the ingredients, and the basic ingredients themselves aren't much to write home about. Our last visit, I ordered a tri tip wrap, which you would think wouldn't be hard to prepare, but the meat was so tough that it came out of the wrap in one piece, and I had to cut it on my plate with a knife. Wraps are supposed to be eaten without cutlery, folks. My wife had a chinese chicken salad, with a sweet sauce, the chicken in which was so tough it seemed like it had cooked tp death and left lying around for several hours. How hard can it be to cook fairly simple dishes well? Doesn't the kitchen staff ever eat the dishes they prepare? Probably not going back, there are much better places in town to eat.
(2)Shane R.
Now that the peppery is under new ownership it is a lot better! I would recommend to anyone!
(5)Ezra B.
Sometimes you can't go wrong with a burger and ice cream. Huge amount of tasty seasoned fries, good size burger and a great dessert. Staff and service were excellent and attentive. Decently priced.
(4)Jennifer S.
A fantastic place to eat!! I've been coming here since I was a kid, about 17 years now! The fries are AMAZING! Easily the best fries I've ever had anywhere. My grandmother lived in Sonora, so every time we went to visit Grandma, you can bet we ate at The Peppery! The owner, Chris, always recognized us and made us feel like part of the family. The service is always friendly, I have never had a bad experience here! I can't wait until I can go again!
(5)JFer C.
I love this place! The peppercorn steak and mashed potatoes were delicious! yum yum.
(5)Christopher P.
This place hits a perfectly decent sweet spot. The ribs were just fine for a bar & grill (or gar & brill, as they put it), though I would have liked more heat in the chipotle BBQ sauce. I actually like the way the shoestring fries came out, a little soft, not too crisp. The veggies were an indifferent clump underneath everything else, but that's not really what I ordered ribs & fries for. And the black & tan was beautifully layered -- it even gets its own listing on the beer menu. All in all, a nice surprise way out in the boonies. On par with the nearby Applebee's, but Peppery gets points for being a local solo restaurant. Will I make a pilgrimage? Nah, but on the off chance I find myself out this way again in need of food, I'll happily return.
(3)Dave L.
Consistently good with no surprises. Service is always fast and attentive even when the place is busy. Dine in or carry-out you will find the food to be very fresh and very good quality. The Peppery is always on our list when good food, reasonable prices and great service is desired.
(4)Sally F.
Crappy food! Don't bother!
(1)Scott P.
Super friendly, nice owner and a family atmosphere. Kudos for the tasty pepper soup (they are well know for it) and the flatbread appetizer (with melted cheese). The soup sealed the deal for me! I could make a meal out of a huge bowl of the peppery soup and a salad!
(4)John S.
My favorite restaurant in Sonora. Food is always good and the service is excellent. Great selection of beer. It gets crowded on the weekend, but they always seem to get you in and out without a problem.
(5)Nik R.
We showed up just before the dinner rush, and were quickly seated. Service was prompt, attentive and cheerful, without hovering. Our food came quickly, which was good, as I was about ready to gnaw off the edge of the not-quite-clean table we were seated at. The food itself is average -- I would go there, like I did tonight, to answer a craving, but not for an uplifting culinary experience. The burgers were certainly the largest I've ever seen, stretching as they did over an entire french bread roll, but the bacon on my bbq bacon cheeseburger was cold. The fries were excellent, however, and I would say that if you're a sports fan, check out the bar, order up one of their fifteen on-tap beers and a plate of their heaping shoestring fries for an excellent evening out.
(3)Kelly M.
The Peppery is a local fav for sure!! This place is ALWAYS packed! The portions are generous and the service is perky! My favs: Fried Asparagus Fried Shrimp with spicy pumpkin dipping sauce Chipotle Chicken Tortellini Peppery Burger & seasoned fries I always make an attempt to eat here whenever I'm visiting - it's really great!
(4)dave s.
just had a birthday party for my daughter there tonight and it was great the crew there was so nice and took such great care of us the food was incredable and the desert was just as good. LOVED IT
(5)Scott S.
If you are a local, this is the place to make an appearance and mingle with the other locals. If you are a visitor, this is a people watching dream come true. Excellent service, very friendly, very attentive. The atmosphere is very casual. The Peppery is a good place to bring children. They have a nice variety of traditional American pub type foods including burgers and sandwiches. There portions are very big. If you like coleslaw, theirs is worth getting. They also have a nice selection of beers but do not serve hard liqueur. 4 stars

Great place to eat! Always friendly service, great food. Try a side of pumpkin sauce with your fries, its a spicy mayo and is to die for!!! I live out of town now but crave the pumpkin sauce from peppery!

I have to thank my family for introducing my husband, kids and I to the Peppery. The fried artichoke hearts are simply the BEST! If you like fried, light, crispy and seasoned just enough...try this on for size. I didn't believe it when I first heard about it but boy, we were sold from bite#1! The hubby and finicky kids really enjoyed the food. We've tried so many of the dishes and a few other appetizers in our numerous visits to Sonora. Their assortment of beers (microbrews) are fantastic and we try new ones every visit. Yes, it's part restaurant, part sports bar but I like the open seating. It's great especially when the owner stops by our table to ask how our meal and service were. I know on 1 occasion, 1 person in our group didn't get everything they ordered but the staff were quick to correct the problem. (How many times have we all been in that situation but the staff were indifferent to the complaint?) The wait and bus staff are very, VERY friendly and helpful. We try to tell as many people as we know to try it out. We've even bought some of the Pepper sauce to bring home for a little flare at home. The rating should really be 4 3/4 because the only thing I find unsatisfactory is the layout of the parking lot. They do have disabled parking but when that small-ish lot fills up, you get the joy of parking up an uneven hill. (never mind the fact that that area gets snow and the lot can ice up. Just be careful if that's your situation)

As someone who has worked in the food service industry for 3 years, I have to say I loved everything about this place! Excellent service, excellent food, wide variety of great beer on draft. Our server was very friendly and attentive, our food came out incredibly fast, and everyone at our table, including myself, really enjoyed the food. If you visit Sonora, the Peppery is a must!

This is a convenient stopping off place on the way back from The Snow (Strawberry/Pinecrest/Yosemite). RIGHT off the highway 108, fast service, burgers and beer. Sports on TV. The place was packed but our service was excellent. Food quality was just ok. DH had Western bbq burger with onion strings, I had california burger (avocado, pepper jack cheese) with fries. Let's just say the fries and onion strings were the highlight of the meal. 1 star for location, 2 for great service and 1 for the awesome fries/onion strings. Minus 1 star because I got faint whiff's of a sour smell -probably the carpet- throughout our meal. My DH said I was crazy- he didn't smell it so beware to those yelpers with the sensitive schnazz like me.

One of our favorite places to eat in Sonora. We eat at The Peppery almost once a week. Best place in town!

The peppery gar and brill has great appetizers, I love how they memorize your orders

I'm pretty simple to please, but I must say, the Peppery is my favorite restaurant in Tuolumne County. My husband and I are busy parents but when we get out for a date we always pick the Peppery. I get the Pasta Primavera every time I go...it is so fresh with crunchy vegetables (peppers, mushrooms, onions, and artichokes!). So delicious. My husband gets the seafood pasta. We even went there on our anniversary and gave ourselves unlimited funds to enjoy the evening. The steaks were amazing. So delicious! I've also had their Salmon and it was great. I don't think I've ever had something there I didn't love. I am a huge fan of their fries too...we almost always get them for appetizers with a big cup of ranch dressing. The Peppery is always busy...it's a must-try in our county!

I had an entree salad here that is one of my top worst meals ever. Sub-par ingredients and sloppy construction, and way overpriced for what it was. No one in my family wanted any of it, and in fact we never go there anymore because of that salad. The only thing I've ever had here that has been worth 4 stars was the Peppery soup, which is pureed vegetables and cream. The food is beyond mediocre, but this place is always packed. There is a good beer selection though.

I was surprised, the food was good, the service was decent and the locals were entertaining. I found it funny that not one-man waited tables at this place & that all the women have to wear skirts...a little chauvinistic, I say so...but I will be back.

Their menu is a lot better since new ownership has taken place! The service is always friendly and prompt, the girls are great! The food tastes good, but sometimes it's too spicy, and other times its spiced just right! Love the deep fried asparagus, their French fries are tasty, and their chicken tortilla soup is delicious!

Service is very good, but the food is mediocre. I think I'd enjoy the sports bar area with massive screens and good brews, but the people I'm usually with aren't interested in that. The good thing is it's a fairly big place and constructed in a way that if you're not interested in the sports bar you don't see it.

The Peppery is BY FAR one of my favorite places to go in Sonora. The food is great and the service is outstanding! If you have enough room for dessert you should try the Brownie Bomb - to die for. :)

Good local place to eat. It's always busy if that says anything! Waitresses memorize your order which can be scary but they have been surprisingly accurate.

The food is about on a par with most franchise type restaurants, although it is not part of a chain. I've enjoyed everything I've had here. It's pretty popular and can get noisy, but I still enjoy meeting friends for lunch here.

Food is so-so and not a good value for what you get. Service is OK but there are better options in the area for lunch or dinner.
