Friendly staff, great happy hours, chill atmosphere and crazy delicious sushi! So worth the drive if you're coming from a distance - price and taste alone makes it incredible but there's a great bookstore next door as well. Burrito roll and salmon sushi are my faves!

Being new to the area, and not fully unpacked yet, grubhub has been a great way to feed my family and get to know local restaurants. Last night, I ordered Megu Sushi thru grubhub for delivery. It was horribly disappointing on so many levels. We had both entrees and sushi rolls. For the entrees, we had 2 chicken teriyaki combo plates ($10 each), a beef teriyaki combo ($12) and a beef short rib combo ($14). All combo plates had very small meat portions. VERY small! The lettuce was wilted and the tempura was soggy without a bit of a crunch. Generous rice portions...but I think that was only for the weight of the container. Sushi was a 5 out of 10. I ordered the 4 rolls I ordered because they all had spicy tuna in them. A favorite of my entire family. All 4 rolls had hardly a smear of spicy tuna. They were great ideas, but they as well had a very small amount of fish. The sauces were not on them or in the bags, so they were dry. I spent over $100! We all were still hungry after dinner and I had to cook something anyway. I would have expected that if I ordered less then 4 entrees and 4 "chef special" rolls for 2 adults and 2 kids under 11...but I ordered and spent more then enough for us and I honestly felt ripped off. $100 down the drain. Guess this family new to Simi won't be visiting or ordering from Megu Sushi again. Thumbs down.

Nothing to see here. Move along. It's slow...one waitress for the whole dining room for a Friday dinner rush. Be ready to have to flag her down if you need anything. The kids' short-ribs order with a side of miso soup came out fairly fast. But the waitress and the sushi chefs seemed too overwhelmed to be able to dish out sushi in an acceptable amount of time. To be fair, we did walk in in the middle of the dinner rush. The fish was ok, nothing special. I like to support the small mom and pop shops whenever I can. But this places lacks anything special enough to justify such a wait. All in all, not terrible. Just very average. They do deliver, so there's that. There's just too many other sushi places around that are just as good, but more likely better, to warrant me coming back here. Here's what we got: BSC roll-not great Megu special roll-pretty good Salmon sushi-ok Ono sashimi-ok Uni sushi-ok

I feel like Yelp is trolling me. Came here today for lunch given the 4 star review. It was pretty empty. Ordered our food. Tempura CA & shrimp tempura. The tempura was hot and fresh so that was good. They didn't drown the rolls in the eel sauce either so thumbs up for that. Pretty sure the eel sauce has soy sauce in it too, rather odd.Other than that, food was average. The bad. One waitress who wasn't very attentive. She took out order while holding a infant and we got to eat our entire meal with this fussy infant being cooed at. Very unprofessional. After getting our food she took off to go do a delivery and we were left just sitting wondering if we had to wait for her to get back to get the check or what. Eventually the sushi chef came over to have us explain what we ordered and got is the check. Needless to say, will not be back. :(

Hidden from the Cochran Street in a large, nondescript strip mall, Megu Sushi is an unassuming, somewhat austere, unpretentious eatery. They have permanent Happy Hour menu that serves reduced prices on selected hand & cut rolls. There are Japanese beers, Sake (sah keh) as well as Soju/Korean vodka. Waitresses are polite, but have a sedated, mechanical, somewhat "stepford wife" feel. Environment is quiet with no music which is just fine with me since many restaurants in the Los Angeles area feature loud humping bass music with screeching clientele to match which makes for unpleasant dining. Bestia, Bottega Louis, Animal, Son of a Gun, you know who you are. 1) Seared Tuna Green Salad is mild meaty textured Tuna cooked at the edges placed over green leaf lettuce with a creamy mild ginger dressing. Pleasant way to start the meal. 2) Mexican Roll is a misnomer. There's nothing Mexican about it except that chiles may have their origin in Mexico. Basically, it is made from Surimi/imitation crab meat infused with mayonnaise, Southeast Asian style Sriracha/garlic, chile sauce & Sushi rice sprinkled with Japanese rice vinegar. I ordered the hand roll & got it wrapped in Nori/Japanese seaweed paper in the shape of a cone. Not really spicy hot & the julienned cucumber was a nice juicy refreshing flavour contrast. Rather conventional non-traditional Japanese Sushi made in California. 3) Spicy Salmon Cut Roll is fatty farm raised salmon dressed with a bit of mayonnaise/sriracha, stick of cucumber with Nori on the inside & Sushi rice on the outside. Simple yet the fattiness of the salmon infused an unctuous richness. 4) Jerry Roll was another non-traditional Sushi cut roll that was baroque in detail. Fried Tempura batter shrimp & Surimi surrounded by Nori surrounded by Sushi rice. Then slices of tuna & avocado cover the top of this roll with a heavy drizzling of Sriracha based mayonnaise with a generous pour of hot chile oil which has a piquant, smoky, oily flavour. The flavours are good, but the calorie content using such high fat sauces may not make this a favorite of the American Heart Association. The Sushi rice in my rolls were a bit hard & dry, but acceptable. However, I ate the rice from a Nigiri Unagi/eel Sushi and found it to be stone cold, hard yet mushy, overly sticky, and formed under strong pressure so that it felt like a heavy brick. The head chef should go to a traditional Japanese Sushi restaurant like Mako Sushi in DTLA or Imai Sushi in Gardena to see & taste exemplary Sushi rice. However, the prices at Megu Sushi is moderate especially for their HH menu. 3 Yelp stars for good enough Sushi at lower prices.

It's been a while between visits here, and a few things have changed including the faces behind the bar. Usually this spells trouble, but I'm here to say the change was actually quite interesting this time. I had yet another first at Megu today, I tried their Gomez Roll. No, its not named for Gomez Addams, its named for the new sushi chef, Gomez. Its an interesting fusion of Japanese and Latin tastes, and I really enjoyed it, as my latest photos will attest. There are new items on the menu, so make certain you look at them all. Don't be afraid to ask questions either, the staff are all cool folks and easy to get along with. The service was still great, as was my sushi, besides the massive Gomez Roll, I had a little salmon too (life just ain't worth a damn without salmon). I did note the place was busier than in the past, and this made me very happy; I'd hate to loose yet another great eatery here in Simi. Megu is alive and well and worth a visit!
(5)Emily S.
GO SEE GOMEZ! It should really be the slogan for this place. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a different sushi bar before it closed down, and i'm so happy he didn't stray too far from the Simi area. As much as I think everyone needs to experience his creative twist to sushi, I hope that this place doesn't become over crowded.
(5)Rob B.
The food at this place is good, but not great. Also, the service can be a hit or a miss as well. The real reason to come here is the prices. This place is really affordable which makes it worthwhile even with its imperfections.
(3)Megan R.
I have been to this little sushi shop several times now and I'm always so happy when I do. The sushi is always to die for and their seaweed salad is so fresh I wish I could have it for lunch every day. You can't go wrong with the spicy tuna roll. The red dragon roll is also amazing. My favorite is the lemon garlic roll. Too yummy. I highly recommend this place. Try to make it for happy hour, the prices can't be beat.
(5)Jonathan F.
I ordered delivery for dinner. Although the food wasn't bad it also wasn't as great as what I was expecting. I'm not sure if I will order again, I ordered the spicy chicken and it just wasn't memorable enough for me to make sure I get it again or suggest to a friend. I can say it is priced well so I didn't feel like I was cheated out of my money. I give three stars overall because it was just that mediocre. Take a chance and maybe it will turn out better for you.
(3)Lindsay C.
The best sushi in Simi .... plain and simple. Tom and Jerry are the best chefs I've come across! This place is a must try if you haven't. My bf and I eat here at least once a week. Rolls to try- Gomez roll (my favorite) Garlic lemon roll, Volcano roll, Flying dragon roll, Flaming cracker roll and yummy roll. Always fresh and always fast! Service is great and they do delivery!!
(5)Claudia B.
For Simi Valley, I would definitely award this place FIVE stars, but given that we have eaten better sushi at a few other places out of Simi Valley, I can only award four stars...... if they had half-stars on Yelp, I'd make this 4.5, but again, the fact that it's in Simi Valley is like 5. We NEVER find anything in Simi that we are willing to rave about..... except the Greek House Café. But I digress. Megu Sushi did a really good job with the rolls we ordered. They were large, fish was presented in plentiful cuts, AND it was fresh...... obviously, a very important factor. They hit the mark across the board. So, why didn't I give 5 stars? Because in the lemon garlic roll, it should have been overpowering me with a garlic flavor (like at Anaba in Oxnard), and it simply did not here at Megu. It said there was a garlic ponzu sauce...... I saw it, but garlic flavor, nope. Just tasted like ponzu, which isn't bad, I like ponzu, but if it says garlic, I expect garlic flavor. I sure tasted the lemon.... delicate little slices were hiding under the sushi...... so that was cool, but still, no appreciable garlic flavor. The other aspect that knocked the stars to 4, which isn't a bad thing, just not the top rating, is that they don't have as broad of a menu when it comes to rolls. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good listing of rolls, just not 5-star worthy. I want to be clear....... we WILL avail ourselves to this sushi restaurant OFTEN because it's close to home, and it's really good. It was a little loud in there as all tables were full when we walked in, and the tables (for my liking) were a bit too close. We sat there listening to our neighbors (because it was unavoidable), and they were loud anyway. I would have preferred if it was a bit more spread out....... and quieter. However, it won't deter me from going back. Overall, kudos to Megu Sushi for giving me hope that I CAN enjoy restaurants in Simi Valley. Doesn't happen too often.

Had to try this place because we heard that one of our favorite sushi chefs worked here. His name is Gomez and he is the best! We had the tuna and yellowtail sushi and it was so fresh. We also had the Mexican roll, the Hawaiian roll, spicy tuna hand roll and California hand roll. They were all fresh and tasted wonderful. They have a happy hour all day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Prices are great, service was great and we will definitely be back.
(4)Shannon A.
Best sushi place I've found in Simi so far. I am bias for my fav spot in Camarillo, but this is a close 2nd. When sitting at the bar- sushi service is always quick. However sometimes the main waiter/tress, for drinks & bills are a bit slow. But the sushi chefs are attentive and polite. My favorite is salmon sushi (always nice and cold!) And scallop crunch roll (new favorite) Their Happy Hour prices are also legit. Can't go wrong with an $8 pitcher!! It's our new regular sushi place!
(4)Susan S.
Great sushi place. Food is great and you're always treated like a friend.
(5)Chuckn P.
I usually never write reviews but this place is so bomb. The food is super fresh and the service is awesome. I highly recommend you get here asap.
(4)Corey H.
I had sushi delivered last night and let me tell you what a bad idea that was! My food only took 30 minutes to get to me but time it came it was warm and the food that was supposed to be hot was cold, also it did not taste fresh. I don't know if it wasn't fresh because they have bad quality fish, because it was the end of the night, or because they had too many deliveries. Having managed a sushi place before that had delivery I expect way more than what I got. I ordered $40 worth of food and probably ate $8 of it and now today have spent most my day in the restroom (gross I know but true, sorry) they only reason they got two stars and not one is because the delivery was fairly fast. I will never get delivery from here again and will probably never eat in unless forced.
(2)Mike N.
Best sushi in town!!! Jerry and Gomez are the great! Make sure to get the bouquet sashimi! Calling them phenomenal is an understatement. No other sushi bar can compete! Thanks guys !
(5)debi l.
Sat down to eat- and they failed to mention that they were closing in 10 minutes- so I was rudely ask to leave, then when I complained that they should have told me that BEFORE I ordered, then they said I could sit here, but I couldn't order anymore- I of course left! I will not be back
(1)Kandace Z.
Great sushi and really good prices. Perfect for a quick lunch or a nice dinner the dynamite mussels are amazing !
(5)Helen A.
Came in here on a Sat night and the place was a bit empty. That scared me a little but that quickly dissolved when I tried the food. I had the Salmon Sushi and the Gomez Roll. The salmon was pretty good, just as expected. It's my favorite so believe me when I tell you, it was good! The Gomez Sushi on the other hand was the BOMB! OMG! Best roll ever! A lot of sushi places/chef try to create their own special roll but they always just seem like the same things but this was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised! Be warned though, it is huge so come with your appetite! Another great reason to come here? Good prices! I think I just found my Simi Sushi spot!
(5)Joleen Q.
Positives: -Happy hour Tues, Wed, Thur -plenty of parking -yummy pineapple sake -$2 for sushi -$7 rolls -friendly service Negatives: -Fishy smell -sushi that isn't that flavorful I would return!
(4)Sandra S.
This time I get to try some more new rolls and im lovin it!! I really like the garlic lemon roll, the lemon flavor is infuse in the roll, the fresh taste is just good and delicious!!! The flying dragon is crunchy in the inside, and the sauce just kick the right amount of goodness. Super yummy. My old time fav of avocado eel is always there when needed, the new surprising flavor from roll royce is just worth to try. Will be back next time again :)
(5)Rachel H.
We had a late dinner last Saturday at Megu - first time we had been there. What a cute place - I love all of the live feed social media things they have going on on the screens, and the demeanor of the staff is really fun. We thought the sushi rolls we had were very good and pretty creative, and the nigiri offerings were fresh and tasty. We will be back again soon.
(4)Dan T.
I am sure other reviews ensure quality, fresh and great sushi that served here but what made it even special is their customer service. It's like going to your best friends place and spend time eating there. That's how I feel when I go to Megu Sushi, chef Ming and Willy is very nice and talented with his knife. His choice of fish that he served never fail to satisfy my palette. I never have even a mediocre fish quality, all I tasted and suggested by Chef Ming is amazing Oh did I mentioned they have specials sapporo and other drinks specials? Give them a try and I promised you that you won't be disappointed. Been here quite a few times now and finally I can say that his sushi place is a must addition to Simi area which already full of all you can eat type sushi place. Lastly, I came by today to try out their New lunch and happy hour specials that happening on Tuesday to Thursday lunch and dinner. Their happy menu truly made us happy :-) Come down sushi lover, give them a try and see that I am right. You will have the time of your life eating sushi.
(5)Meow K.
Amazing sushi! I was scared to get delivery sushi and tried from here and now will never go anywhere else! Seaweed salad is always fresh as is the rest of all the delicious goodies! If you haven't tried food here you definitely should!
(5)Diane G.
This place by far stood out from other sushi restaurants I've been to. The fish was fresh and tender. We had salmon, albacore and shrimp among other items. Very impressed with the quality of fish.
(5)Tanya M.
Love it here the food is always delicious and the staff are very nice people and they have happy hour all day everyday!!!
(5)Steve T.
These guys are awesome, fresh fish good service, nice people thanks Gomez and Jerry you guys are awesome! Keep up the good sushi. Try this place out you will enjoy the food.
(5)Lauren L.
This was my first time going here & there were so many rolls to choose from, really low prices for high quality sushi & our server was very nice. Everything overall was great :) I definitely would come back

Finding good sushi in the East side of Ventura County can be hard. I've been to at least 20 sushi bars between TO and Simi Valley, and Megu is in my top 5. My wife and I first ate here back in March or April I believe, very shortly after becoming Megu. It's always a safe bet to judge a sushi restaurant on two basic things - they're Spicy Tuna, and their Albacore (nigiri, cut roll, or specialty roll topped with it). Let's start with the former; Megu's Spicy Tuna is bar-none the best around. Megu is one of the few places that instead of relentlessly mashing/grinding their Tuna down to a fine mush, instead shreds their Tuna in a way that preserves a lot of the original texture and taste of the actual fish, instead of a Sriracha-doused paste. This extends to their spicy Yellowtail (delicious, diced Yellowtail almost the way you'd expect to eat a spicy scallop hand roll anywhere else), and you can tell that the owner cares a great deal about the fish. When they have Toro, it is served in nice sized pieces with REAL wasabi on top. I imagine if you asked you could probably get real wasabi on anything of your sushi. Suffice it to say, the chefs at Megu know their stuff. If you're looking for less traditional, and more American style rolls that are fried, baked, or covered in sauces and accoutrements, Megu's got you covered there too. Lots of creative rolls in addition to many of the staples you'll see at other places like the 911 or baked lobster rolls. There's a roll that I can not remember the name of that my sister got on our last visit that had capers, lemon and salmon, almost like a fine dining experience on a roll. Finally, the price. This is what I can never believe. Ever since their addition of Happy Hour prices (which are now just 24/7 pricing), I'm in absolute awe. $2 nigiri? $3 cut/hand rolls? $3 appetizers? A wide selection of specialty rolls from $7-$10? One could come in for lunch and get out for $10, getting more than you would anywhere else for a $15 'sushi combo' lunch special. If you've stuck with my review for this long, there's nothing more to tell other than Megu is legitimately good sushi, has something for everyone, and at a legitimately great price. The staff is friendly and the chefs are attentive, accurate, and quick.
(5)danielle j.
Awesome place! The sushi is very good and the rolls are awesome. My husband also tried the ramen and tonight it was very good. We've been here 3 times in the last month. Take out was also on point.
(5)Melissa H.
This place could've had 4 stars. I wanted it to be 4 stars since it is so close to me. However, the service is absolutely terrible. In the 4 times I've been here, with 4 different parties, we've all concluded the service is atrocious. Tonight we sat at our table for 20 minutes waiting to place an order. Then it took forever to get our food. We wanted to order more, but by the time a server finally approached us to ask how things were, we were over it. Expect to have to remind the server multiple times to bring any sides, refills, another beer, etc. Yes, the sushi is fine. However, do not, I repeat, do not dine here if you cannot sit at the bar. The table service is a joke.
(2)Mary Ruth S.
Great sushi, great prices during happy hour days on tues through thurs, bustling place. I can't say enough about how good and fresh their fish is especially how delicious. I'm so fortunate there's a great sushi place for locals in Simi. Their salmon is buttery and their special Cajun tuna sashimi is perfect with the right amount of kick. The chefs are friendly and knowledgable.
(5)Chelsea H.
Pretty good. First time here. Volcano Roll was great. I only gave it 4 stars bc the fish was a bit over cooked for our liking.
(4)Samantha B.
I love megu, it's cheap and all of the employees are very nice. Happy hour is all the time. Best sushi in Simi.
(5)Debbie F.
The only sushi restaurant my family will go to in simi! Fantastic food and amazing prices!
(5)Mary P.
Great little spot for some fresh sushi and sashimi! Serving portions are great and the prices are right on the ball! Try the spicy tuna on crispy rice! Soooo good! We'll definitely come back especially for that 25cent beer special they've got going on right now! I'm from L.A. and sushi spots are competitive but if I'm ever around the area, I'll definitely be coming back!
(5)Kris G.
On my mission to find the best sushi in Simi Valley, I tried Megu because of the reviews and it did not disappoint. Tried the yellowtail albacore roll and crunchy spicy tuna/shrimp tempura roll, both came with three pieces of sushi - salmon, albacore w/fried onion and ponzu and tuna (or you could choose spicy tuna roll). I always use salmon as a way to gauge how good the sushi is and it was very fresh, great texture and cut. The salad dressing was excellent, too. Authentic thicker iced green tea--which I loved. Definitely will be going back!!
(4)Chuck G.
Second visit here...first time was phenominal...this time; rice was very salty. Mentioned it was my girlfriends birthday and nothing additional was done to make it special for her. Giving a third star because the baked scallop roll was to die for. We will try again; third times a charm.
(3)Alfredo O.
Wow.. Amazing Sushi very very FRESH!! Great service, Good portion, Fresh fish, what more do u want!!!! Best Spanish Mackerel sushi!! I'll become a regular for sure. cant wait to go back!!
(5)Hayley N.
My favorite sushi place! Great food, great service and their happy hour is every day!
(5)Jeremy A.
Good place to get sushi. Friendly owners and chief. Good price and fish. My wife and I go here often. I like to drink Kirin light beer with my sushi. Hawaiian roll is good and rainbow roll.
(4)Sydney Z.
Good service, excellent prices, fantastic food. Very happy with the sushi and my birthday party was very fun with all my friends sharing the dishes! I had the dragonfly roll and salmon roll, both were quite large and very good. Only dish that was average was the fried calamari, it was a little bland, but other than that, the fish was cold and fresh and the sauces were flavorful. Will be returning!
(5)Bimo W.
Awesome place for family! They have affordable and pretty good sushi too! Recommended this place to anyone who are looking for good sushis
(5)Karen H.
This is probably the best sushi spot in Simi Valley for food quality. The service was slow, but I didn't mind because the sushi chef and waiter were just so nice and likable. Also, they didn't charge us for one of our rolls, so we forgave them. One problem, though, was that I really wanted to try some of the sushi items that were listed on their specials board (spanish mackerel and black snapper), but for some reason, they only had the regular stuff like tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and albacore. Oh well, maybe next time. They give large cuts of fresh tasting fish, and the rolls were pretty big, too. They do not have happy hour, but their current promotion is you get a 25 cent 12 oz bottle of Sapporo if you order a large beer ($6.95) or a large hot sake ($5.95). Overall, we were happy with our visit and would definitely go back. It is slightly more expensive than other sushi restaurants in the area, running at an average of about $12/roll and $5/nigiri sushi, but the quality is well worth it.
(4)Reiner W.
OMG this place has the best sushi ever. I'm a big fan of sushi and if you guys are then this place would be worth to visit. They have the freshest sushi that you get in town. Now they have happy hour, tasty foods along with a big peice of sushi, free parking lot, best deal on beers, friendly staff, what else could you ask more?
(5)Becka M.
Let me just say, I was a regular for the previous owner and I was unsure coming in. Boy do i feel stupid. Not only are the people as friendly and knowledgable about sushi, but they love what they do and take pride in their food. The fish is fresh and well prepared. Their rolls aren't covered in mayo and sauces that delude the flavors of the sushi. They aren't inexpensive, but with sushi - you get what you pay for. Sure, you can go get cheaper sushi, but it won't be as fresh, taste as good, or be as artistically paired as Megu. If you're an old regular of Momoya, or a new customer - you're going to love these guys. They go out of their way to please their customer and they are genuinely nice people that are fun to talk with. They also have a cool lunch special I need to check out - but it's a great freaking deal considering the quality! Oh, and they even help my boyfriend out by making his special spicy dipping sauce with habaneros & sometimes, if they're in, ghost chili peppers. No one else does that. No one. I LOVE YOU MEGU! YOU'RE MY PRECIOUS! :) Great... now I'm hungry...
(5)Megan G.
Tried out this place for the first time today and will definitely be back for more!! We ordered the following sushi: Uni Toro Clam (Japanese) Black Snapper Octopus Yellowtail belly (not pictured) Surf Clam (not pictured) and one Yellowtail Roll I particularly enjoyed the cut of each sushi: thin but long. Everything was so good! Uni (which was fresh from Santa Barbara) is usually my favorite, but the special Japanese clam was the winner for the day. It was the best I've ever had and look forward to ordering it next time I come. They have a good selection of rolls and cooked foods (such as chicken teriyaki), for those who aren't fans of sushi. They also served an excellent selection of higher quality cold sake :) The sushi was always prompt and the servers were excellent. Make sure to ask them about the price for the daily specials because we scored 4 pieces of toro for $16. Overall, I think we found a new go-to place for great sushi.
(5)Prajitno W.
100% fresh sushi is served at MEGU SUSHI !!!!!The rolls are amazing, they make they're sauces right on the spot and the flavor is always consistent!!! The service here is excellent too, the sushi chefs and the servers, they really take care of you.I've recpmmended this place to a lot of people and everyone loved the experience as much i do!
(5)Gabrielle W.
Very nice service with family friendly owners. Excellent food and selection. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Dale D.
The sushi is good the prices are great. The staff is friendly. What else can a guy ask for.
(5)ashley p.
I was recommended this place by a friend for their happy hour, but I walked right in and walked right out. NO AIR! Not even a fan! I can't eat in a hot restaurant, especially a sushi restuarant. If they turn on their air, maybe next time I will actually stay and enjoy their sushi. Seems like a good deal.
(1)Tokunbo A.
Sooooo good!! I made the mistake of going to a place in Calabasas last night and it just didn't taste right. Everyone is very friendly here!! I definitely recommend this place :-)
(5)Alex W.
Family owned and operated. Fish was fresh and great variety! Wonderful service and good happy hour!
(5)Debra K.
Really fresh fish and very nice staff! Very accommodating for those that prefer more traditional sushi rather than sauce loaded rolls
(5)Wendy M.
Sushi is fresh, flavorful and made quickly. Service is good, staff was friendly and accommodating. But the best reason to go is the absolutely fabulous prices during Happy Hour on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We had 4 orders of salmon sushi, 2 spicy yellowtail hand rolls, oiishi roll, California roll, jalapeño bomb, fresh albacore sashimi, a huge plate of warmed and salted edamame and 2 glasses of beer for under $48. Best deal around!!
(4)Wes G.
This is by far the best place in Simi Valley for sushi. I Drive out here for a Thousand Oaks to get sushi and it's completely worth the drive for the quality of fish. The staff is friendly helpful. I will keep coming back FOREVER!!!!!!!
(5)Eric H.
I ordered take out a couple of days ago and it ended up being a bad idea. I ordered a chefs special and when I got there the chef said "I split up the rice and fish" not sure what he meant I said "thanks!". When I got home and started to eat I realized exactly what he meant and became sad. The so called "chef" just gave me a huge scoop of rice and the fish in a separate box! What a great chef special. WTF...I'm just supposed to make my own sushi? I'm no sushi chef! Your job is being the sushi chef...very disappointed.
(2)Nikki O.
YUUUUUM!!! This place is a hidden gem. Happy hour has awesome prices and the fish is very fresh. So excited that this place is within walking distance from my house. I think I found a new favorite sushi restaurant in Simi.
(5)Andrew S.
Roll royce, hallowen roll, jalapeno bomb are now my favorites.. My wife loves the rice cake.. my daughter loves the salmon sushi as always.. They just added lots of new rolls, pretty sure you can find some that you like.. Well, I did, we go there at least once a week now :)
(5)Brian T.
Sushi was fresh and the rolls were good and creative. The service was very good and the prices were very fair. The neg - atmosphere sucks. No booth seating, in need of a remodel.

I have a few red flags when it comes to sushi restaurants and this one had a few of them raising in my head as soon as I walked in: they do not close between lunch and dinner, sushi "happy hour" prices heavily promoted, non-Japanese hostess/waitress, non-Japanese sushi chef (heck he wasn't even Asian at all)... anyway, I was concerned initially but thought it best to keep an open mind. I mean, do you really HAVE to be from Japan to learn how to properly assemble sushi? I don't know. But I have to admit that everything I ordered came out pretty darn good! Pleasantly surprised by the quality of fish and its preparation and display. Once I got the bill I was pleasantly shocked!! GREAT prices! I would give 3 stars for sushi but adding a star for price. I was technically there during "happy hour", but it appears they now have those same prices all the time and that is certainly an exciting development! I will be back for sure.

If you want REAL SUSHI, don't go there. I was desperate to have sushi and all the reviews convinced me to try this place. The moment I got inside the restaurant, I knew I made a mistake. I ordered Yummy Roll, Scallop Crunch Roll and Snapper Olive. Everything was so overwhelmed by the sauce that was too sweet and too strong,I couldn't taste the fish. Rice was also mushy and flavorless. I will never go there again.

Very fresh sushi and friendly staff! Had the Rolls Royce roll this evening and it was great. They just opened two weeks ago and would love to see you.

It's clean and new. All the staffs are super friendly and the food is great. If you are it a raw fish person then you should definitely try spicy chicken combination. This place is great for nice meal

I give this place 2 stars only because the food was good, and tasty. When we walked in their servers were eating at the table, got up and asked where we wanted to sit. Don't know if she even washed her hands. The restaurant was very hot (kinda scary when you serve raw fish and freshness is key for quality, but they turned on the air after we asked). I was very turned off with the level of service I received from the sushi chef. Don't ever go there for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Apparently they close at 3pm, and the sushi chef asked us if we were done because it was almost 3. We paid our bill and in walk 4 customers... They gladly seated them , welcomed them, and never mentioned they were closed. I guess serving 4 is better then 2. But they will never have my business again.

Unexpectedly good. Really liked the Gomez roll and albacore sashimi. My 10 year old nephew got the kids chicken teriyaki and he really liked it. The sexy roll is great if you want something fresh.

Fish tastes so fresh & owner & sushi chefs are exceptionally nice :) I urge everyone to try it once - I'm sure you'll return ! Also they just started a happy hour !

I took my sister to lunch here for happy hour. This place had a nice, energetic ambience. I thought the sushi was reasonably priced and the service was excellent! I got the Big Oaks sushi roll with albacore. I thought the albacore was overcooked. It tasted more like chicken. Next time I go there I'm going to ask for everything -not overcooked. My sister got the Salmon sushi roll. We also thought it was over cooked, but it was still really good and we ate every last bit of it! We also got the seared Cajun tuna sashimi special and it was excellent!!! I would definitely go here again.

I am pretty positive this review will cause me to gain some serious haters, but in all sincerity, my most recent experience was just so incredibly horrible, I am far past caring. I was really excited to try this place after everyone has been raving about how good the sushi is (it is one of the few places locally that even offers Spanish Makerel... I was stoked). So of course, I went in with an empty stomach ready to put away some fish. I went with a friend later in the evening and it wasn't crowded. Putting an order in was the easiest part. A man came over and took our order right away; we put in for one beer to split, 8 pieces of sushi, and a Mexican Roll (a spicy California Roll- my friend isn't super creative or sushi-venturous). Sounds like it was going to be a breeze right? Yeah, WRONG. 35 MINUTES LATER, STILL NO FOOD. No sign of food even approaching; no sign of our order even being processed. Suuuuuuuuper frustrating! I decided to give it a little bit... Who knows what was going on back there, right? Well, I started to notice some peculiarities- other customers who had already been there and already had food were placing other sushi orders. This was in the midst the 35 minute wait period of hunger death. They were getting their rolls in less than a couple minutes! WTF. Our order had already had a sufficient amount of time to be processed if that was the case. My friend pointed it out and I looked over at the chefs. I think they noticed our irritation, started working hard at something behind the sushi bar. Five minutes later, the server walks over with a rainbow roll (looked delicious by the way) and puts it in front of us. Not to be a brat, but I pointed out "Hey! That looks great!... BUT IT'S NOT WHAT WE ORDERED." They all looked incredibly confused and reread our order. BY THEN, whether they decided they were finally going to start on it or what, I had reached my limit. I shamelessly asked for the check please. As the server goes to get our check, she keeps shouting "SORRY!!" All the sushi chef's keep shouting over the bar "SORRY! SORRY!" Whatever. I would like the check please so I can find some other place to feed my stomach. They bring it over and maybe I am wrong for being so offended, but they charged us for our beer. After forgetting our order and being so apologetic about it, you'd figure they can foot the bill for $8.00, BUT HEY, AGAIN, WHATEVER. I am hungry as F&$K. I understand, maybe I was a bit judgmental as I went in with a pre-existing hunger condition and quality takes time, but considering this is not a gourmet five-star sushi restaurant with some gold plated fish they had to catch by hand themselves, I am not sympathetic with the amount of time it took to bring some sort of food-life over and the shitty service. Whether it was an improper balance of food distribution among the customers or straight up forgetfulness- GET, IT, TOGETHER. No intention of returning anytime soon and if I absolutely have to go there I will remember to bring my extra large patience hat and fucking picnic basket with some snacks.

was ok. nothing great. I ordered their special which was two different sushis. I tried to find out what was in a couple of the rolls, the fellow obviously didn't understand me. I got only part of my question answered. I asked again and again didn't really get a clear answer. they were training a waitress who seemed clueless to everything. the salad was ok. one of my rolls had a ton of sauce on it. I didn't care much for it. they tried hard, but they fall short. would rather go to one of my usual places than come back.

So fresh, so delicious, highly recommend ! Amazing large portions of super great sushi fresher and lighter than any sushi we've had. I guess the Indonesian touch works on sushi. We will be regulars for sure. Thanks joe and Wira !

I went there to give a shot about the food ! And i amazed what they have, the sushi man, name's Ming, which is the owner. He knows a lot of stuff and totally understand what he is doing, absolutely very friendly chef. I ordered albacore sashimi and the octopus sushi, i still quite not full yet, and asking for another recommendation, he suggested me another fresh and awesome the black snapper. It was awesome ! Well i live in northern california which has pricy sushi stuff. Compare by it all the price totally worth !!!! I will come back for sure when i visit my brother here again i will suggest everybody to visit here! Absolutely satisfy and happy with them ! Keep what you're doing guys !

Megu sushi is my new favorite sushi spot in Simi. The fish tastes fresh unlike the other surrounding places. The Rolce Royce roll is so good. The service is nice but forgot my water and didn't check up on me much. But I don't really mind.

Definitely one of the more subpar sushi joints I've ever been to. The sushi is moderately overpriced and smaller in size than its competitors. Also the server spoke next to no English, which made ordering fairly tricky. If you want good sushi in Simi go right across the street to Love

The food and service was 5 star. Everything we eat was custom made to our taste. The new owner was very happy to make our favoties. This place is a must for sushi lovers.

This is definitely the best sushi I have had in a while. I had the Yummy Roll, Rolls Royce Roll and Tuna Tartar. These are the most amazing specialties that I have had. I've been to a lot of sushi places and I have to say Megu is by far the best so far. Great service, fresh sushi and very flavorful. Definitely need to at least try this place you won't be sorry!!!

When I asked the sushi chef what kind of salmon they had and he answered Scottish, I knew I was in trouble.

We walked in, sat down, and then walked right back out. The entire place smelled like bad fish and it was disgustingly hot in there. No thank you.

Loved it! Its gonna be the sushi stop henceforth.

Great happy hour options and prices had four rolls plus a beer for $34 and change. Will be coming back for sure. Fish is very fresh and service is great.

I rarely give a 5 star review but this place truly deserves it. We were recommended the rolls royce and it didn't disappoint. The combination flavor of tuna and tomato is really amazing. Hubby loves the salmon sasuga. We tried a few other things and they were all good. This place is a must try for all sushi/fushion sushi lover out there.

Fantastic sushi! The staff is incredibly friendly and do a great job of making sure you're happy! Their lunch specials are delicious and a great price as well! Definitely suggest their "Roll Royce roll." All the sushi is fresh and beautifully crafted.
