    I used to go here all the time when I was in undergrad at Cal Poly and it never failed. The sandwiches are massive and they have great meat combinations -- especially the destroyer.

    With such great sandwich joints in SLO (High Street, Gus's) I just find no reason to return to this establishment. Came here for lunch on a Saturday and there were one or two tables with customers. I got their new sandwich "The Shore" which was on focaccia bread. I personally think focaccia is better served toasted or warm. I asked for sprouts in my sandwich but the amount they gave was extremely sparse and barely noticeable. Service was friendly but the quality of the sandwich was just not up to par.

    I recently came here with a friend who makes it a goal to come down to SLO twice a year to only eat the Destroyer and then return home. I have a few food places that I would drive 3 hours for so I understood that this place had to be something special. What I didn't realize was how special it actually was. I came in with absolutely no expectations. All I wanted to see was my friend delightfully stuff the Destroyer into this mouth and drift off into a food coma of awesome. I didn't expect myself to feel dreamy and sleepy after just half a sandwich. I never knew Turkey, Provolone and Avocado could be so beautiful. The amount of avocado they slathered on (it looked like it was just smashed up avocado and not that weird gunky avocado stuff they use at Subway) was delectable. I felt my mouth watering with excitement as the employee cut the meat right in front of me. Little did I know that if the sandwich looks good that means it tastes fantastic. (Frequenting Subway can often screw up your mindset). My sandwich was fresh, filling and delicious. My only review of the Destroyer was that it is a 'meat lovers paradise and nothing else matters.' The place was spotless and very well organized. You could tell the owner takes a lot of pride in it's appearance and presentation. The employees were amazing. It was refreshing to be helped by knowledgeable staff who were quick, amazingly attentive and very friendly. I mean, these two women deserve medals for being amazing at their jobs. I wish I had caught their names or else I'd give them a shout out. I will definitely be coming back. You can't put that much avocado on a sandwich with no extra charge and not expect me to. On another note, two full sandwiches with two small drinks cost me $25.25 for anyone who wanted an idea for pricing for more than one person.

    I have been going to Kona's since 1995. It was my favorite sandwich place elementary-high school. It has been a number of years since I have gone. I don't live on that side of town anymore and nothing really takes me over there. But today I happened to be there at lunch time and decided to go back. I was a little surprised to see how much their prices had gone up. Over $10 for a full classic sandwich + tip. No chips or drink. But I was pleased to see that there were different choices of bread. I decided to get the Dutch crunch bread. Most disappointing sandwich I have ever had. Bread was horribly dry (obviously not fresh) and just looking at the tomatoes made me feel queasy. They just weren't appetizing to look at. I really hate to write this about what used to be my favorite place but I hope that maybe this can help bring Kona's back to its former self.

    I snagged a sandwich from Kona's today and I'm extremely disappointed. I've been here more than a few times. Up until this point, the sandwiches have been fine, but the sandwich today was a huge miss. Even though it is gluten-free bread, it should not break and crumble as pathetically as it did--total mess! The bread practically crumbled to ashes when I touched it. I opted for a veggie sandwich--the add-ons and veggies were very sparse and sloppily put on. Overpriced, too. As dramatic as it sounds, I did end up throwing the sandwich directly in the trash, because it was sadly uneatable and completely not worth eating. There are many other sandwich options in the area, so I will not be going back to Kona's. Lesson learned.

    This place satisfies my sandwich cravings. I tried their Kona club on ciabatta with the works, plus tomato and managed to put this thing down to write a review. Their staff was exceptionally friendly and patient as I ordered and while there was no one else in the restaurant, I had my order within minutes. The price, quality, and customer service is right exceptional.

    This place has great sandwiches and the prices are the best in SLO. They cut the meat and cheese right in front of you for your sandwich so you know its fresh. A great thing to mention is: i love their shredded lettuce and a few weeks ago they switched to leaf lettuce because its less messy and easier for them, but when i told the owner i missed the shredded lettuce he started ordering it again and all you have to do as a customer is request it. that is a little thing but makes a big difference to me just to show that they care about keeping their customer happy!!

    This is a great place for a quick yet healthy sandwich. Super friendly staff as well. Since they make the sandwiches to order you can easily customize to your liking. Highly recommend whether you are a local or just visiting. The owner takes great pride in how this place is run.

    I was pleasantly surprised with Kona's Deli after being to some of the other delis around Slo. They are large sandwiches for a great price! The ingredients all seem fresh and it is nice that they slice the cheese in front of you.

    Not sure what happened to this place. Made two of my friends sick on separate occasions. I went in to get a turkey and the meat just tastes bad. The peppers are full of stems. It's so disappointing because I loved this place. I would go out of the way to get a sandwich here. I think a few bad experiences would have been over looked because of all the good I had, but the employees are so unfriendly that it's not worth it anymore. I used to put up with it before but not now that the sandwiches are so bad. Too many great places in SLO to go to.

    Best sandwich ever. I have been coming to Kona's since....about 2002. After it burned down and was rebuilt I was right back in line. It's all about the Destroyer. Super soft bread, amazing meats, the sweet tangy dressing, the finely shredded lettuce. Oh my. Great prices, and a great place. Always friendly employees and they have beer too!

    I've been eating at Kona's since I first moved to SLO in 2003 to go to Cal Poly. As a freshman it was a biweekly stop for me and my roommate. Our favorite was splitting a footlong destroyer with extra meat! Plenty of food for two college students. Now that I've graduated I'm doing a lot of business on the Central Coast and the out door seating has been very nice as a quite lunchtime meeting place. Favorite bread is a draw between the dutch crunch and the ciabatta. Favorite sando is the destroyer.

    I've been going to Kona's for years and have always loved their friendly staff, quick service, and great deals. I returned recently for the first time in several months and was very disappointed. There were only three people in line ahead of me, and it still took 15 minutes to receive one sandwich. The portions of meat they put on each sandwich used to make any meat sandwich a great (and filling) deal, but the girls making the sandwiches were either instructed to give smaller portions or just not paying attention. After repeating my desired condiments several times, I stepped to the counter to pay as the line was now out the door. I was very disappointed to return home and find my sandwich was missing lettuce and had barely any sprouts. The whole sandwich was underdressed and sloppy. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Kona's staff; the girls are super sweet and work hard. I wish I had nicer things to say about my experience today, but the quality of the sandwich I received today was nothing compared to the sandwiches I used to enjoy from Kona's regularly. With so many great sandwich shops in the area, it's hard to justify spending $12 on a sandwich that tastes like 75% bread.

    Kona's is ok. I went there regularly in the late 90's as a student and all of their food was great as was the customer service. The food nowadays is so-so, higher prices (understandable compared to the 90's), and the service is hit and miss. There are other deli's in town with much better sandwiches at same price.

    Awesome sandwich! Had the roast beef with mustard and pepperchinis. The Hawaiian sweet bread was a great combo. Sandwiches are huge. 1/2 is plenty or you can share full size. Outdoor seating is shaded and a great place to sit and chat.

    Kona's is an old-school sandwich shop--nothing fancy but always good. You might be put off by the line, but it will go quickly I promise. The employees are efficient and the place is clean. The sandwiches are big with lots of free add-ons for the amount you'll pay. Lots of new outside seating helps too.

    Kona's Deli is a great spot with exceptional sandwiches. The staff is always kind and personable and the atmosphere is fun! I have never tried a sandwich there that I did not like and their salads are delicious. My favorite lunch spot in SLO!

    I just recently discovered Konas through a friend who was in love with one of their sandwiches-- the destroyer. While being a Gus's girl and a sandwich lover, I decided to visit Konas with some friends and give their destroyer a try. We drove into the parking lot and made my way up to the store and the first thing i noticed was that the area was quaint and clean with picnic tables right outside. The atmosphere was perfect for the bright sunny day we were prepared to take advantage of. Upon entering the store, we noticed that it was significantly colder inside and it was a little too cold to sit at the tables inside without feeling a little chilly. The girls who worked on our sandwiches were very nice and helpful with a good sense of humor. We ordered our sandwiches and sat outside. I chose to try the destroyer and the layers of pepperoni, roast beef, turkey, cheese and the works did not disappoint. I couldn't give Konas five stars because while the sandwich was delicious, I wish they had more bread options such as the Dutch Crunch you can find at Gus's. The meat and veggies tasted fresh and the service was fabulous. Overall our experience here definitely impressed us and there is no doubt that we will be back for seconds or thirds in the future.

    Went to Kona's Deli after finding it on Yelp! My family and I are from Northern California and were on vacation down to San Diego. Decided to take a stop to Cal Poly to visit the college for my little brother who is a junior in high school. After visiting the college, we were looking for a quick deli to grab something to eat before driving farther down the coast. It was a little difficult to find this place; we drove right by it and didn't realize we arrived already. You have to park in somewhat the back of a building and go up the stairs that lead to the deck the deli is on. It's a quiet location and is located right across from a barber shop. The sandwich itself was satisfying; it wasn't an AMAZING sandwich, but it definitely satisfied my deli sandwich craving. I had a turkey and avocado sandwich. My mom and I split a foot long sandwich and I couldn't finish half of my half. My leftovers were a great meal later that night. Their homemade cookies were "alright"; they weren't amazing. I say visit this place if you are looking for a quick and convenient place to pick up a sandwich. Try out their challenge also! The info is posted on their wall.

    I lived at Valencia from 2007-2009 and enjoyed Kona's on a fairly regular basis. They have large deli subs and make everything to order. The restaurant is surfer themed and the sandwiches have cool names like "the Destroyer" (which has a good mix of meats and cheese). The prices are decent, but higher than competitors that offer better sandwiches in other parts of SLO.

    Favorite deli in slo, a town where many excellent delis exist. Have tried them all, and konas has always won in terms of price, quality, and deliciousness. Only complaint is that they aren't open more hours than they are! I've been there before and after the open/close times and have walked away in despair :(

    We were the first patrons here on their grand opening. We ordered the 12 inch destroyer which consists of turkey, ham, salami, pastrami,pepperoni, and provolone with the Works with added on pepperoncinis. DELICIOUS! This sandwich beats Subway any day, but their prices are a little bit higher, but well worth it. They have a variety of chips, but I noticed they didn't have bottled drinks or any type of desserts just yet. Customer service was awesome!! 4 people assisted in making our sandwich and 2 people rung us up. Decor is surfer beach style kind of reminded me of Splash, but newer and nicer. Being so new, it doesn't even smell like a sandwich place yet, because of the fresh paint.

    Delicious subs at a reasonable price! The 6 inch size will fill you up. They give a really generous amount of meat. This beats Subway any day of the week. My only complaint is they don't have hot subs. The cold ones are really good, though. I'll be back!

    It's campy inside with a surf theme and the tables and chairs are squished together (I don't know what it would look like full) - apparently most people sit outside, but no one else sat inside when we were there so we had room. We were happy with the fast service, the choices clearly marked on signs, the number of sandwiches to choose from, and the taste of our sandwiches. (My husband and I both had the turkey cranberry.) We look forward to going back.

    THIS IS THE SAME KONAS AS CHICO! So excited when I realized SLO had a Konas. This is a fabulous and cheap find for any college student, family, or sandwich lover who is willing to find the difficult location on Foothill. LOOK FOR THE SIGN....so worth it!

    Kind of a bland sandwich , bread was on the verge of being stale, and the meat wasn't anything special. In addition, tomatoes and pickles are an extra, which is very very strange, and the sandwich was under dressed and dry. I was able to fix it up at home with some mayo, mustard and red wine vinegar, which is the only reason this place gets 3 stars.. Go to High Street, Ben Franklins , or California Roots the new deli in town(not far from Kona's). Better service and food are at all of these other places.

    This deli is awesome all the ingredients are fresh and of good quality! The staff is very friendly and the place has a chill vibe. The half sandwich is huge...I had to save half of it for later...be brave if you order the full sandwich. Turkey avo bacon!

    It's hard to go to any deli after having a sandwich from High Street Deli. I came to Kona's with a deli and luckily they were open. (They close whenever they feel like it). I got a basic sandwich, but I found out afterwards she gave me the wrong sandwich. Luckily I'm not picky so I ate it and it tasted good, but not great. The guy that was making the sandwich was cool, but then when it came to pay, he assumed that we were under one order. Shouldn't you ask? It made it awkward for my friend and I because we were both planning to use card. It was just a strange experience. Their sandwiches are also too basic for the price. I'd almost rather go to Sandwich Factory on Cal Poly's campus.

    Whenever my husband and I go to Paso Robles to visit his family, we always make a trip to SLO to get lunch at Konas. Everything is super fresh and the bread is delicious. I like to try something different each time but my husband gets the Destroyer every single time.

    Kona's Deli is THE BEST place to go for a good sandwich. Ever. You will never eat subway after eating here. I get a simple turkey cheese and mayo sandwich, but they really pile on the turkey and cheese so I am not missing out on anything! My boyfriend gets the pastrami, turkey, salami, provolone sandwich with the works and all free add ons and they really pile it all on. All cheese and meat is freshly sliced right in front of you, and you can really taste the quality. A friend showed me this place and I recommend this to anyone!

    I missed Kona's Deli dearly when the business burned down. Once I got the news that they were open again, my mouth buds literally guided me back. I ordered half of a Destroyer, which consists of pretty much every meat product they have there, freshly sliced from their up-end meat slicer, with the Works on top of a wheat bun. WOW. Hell yeah. Everything was pretty damn spot-on. The meats were thinly sliced, the veggies were fresh and watery, and the wheat bun leaves a delicious, sweet aftertaste while you eagerly gobble down the bite. Half of my sandwich left my stomach at 80% fullness: not too full and not craving for more. The staff is friendly and the art they have presented around the store are from local artists. Great sandwiches, great times. Will come soon!

    Horrible service. Went there today and had to wait a while for someone to come to the front to take our order and when they came they looked annoyed and like they didn't want to be bothered. The 3 young girls working there stomped around with attitude literally slapping the sandwich together. I went to eat my sandwhich after leaving and the wrapping was so loose and horribly done that my sandwich was completely falling apart. It was messy and all over the place. Very disappointing. The other times I have been there the service has been ok, not very professional or welcoming though. As for the sandwiches, they are pretty good and really big. They put a ton of meat on there so you are getting what you pay for.

    PROS: + Kick ass Sandwich Shop + #17 The Destroyer CONS: - Its far from me. This place is where I go for sandwiches when I am in SLO. I usually get a 12 inch #17 The Destroyer with the works. So good! If you've got a hankering for a sub sandwich, stop by Kona's Deli and get anything, you won't be disappointed.

    Great sandwiches. I'd say this is the best place to go for a more 'traditional' deli sandwich. The ingredients are great tasting and fresh, and they make your sandwich very quickly. It is worth noting that their breads are VERY sweet, some may not like that. I specifically like the Junkyard Dog, Full Boat, and Destroyer sandwiches. If you want more special or hot sandwiches, try Gus's or High Street (I prefer Gus's, personally).

    Been going to Kona's since we lived in SLO and we go back everytime we are in town visiting. The meats are sliced fresh. The bread is a little on the dry side. Other than that its pretty good.

    I LOVE the sandwiches here. The bread is amazing and the flavors are all just right! I always get the Junkyard Dog (the pesto one) and it is always delicious. They have decent outdoor seating if you want to eat there. The service isn't always great, some of the girls looked like they just rolled out of bed and seem grumpy about having to make sandwiches (sometimes on a sunny Sunday afternoon I can't blame them!).

    My wife and I went over to Kona's for lunch yesterday and I was quite impressed. If you are looking specifically for a sub place, this is a great option. All the meat, cheese and toppings were fresh and tasty. The sandwich is plenty of food for lunch and my wife got a foot long and saved half of it for dinner later. I am a big meat eater so I got the "Full Boat" and was thoroughly pleased. Definitely check this place out, great sandwiches.

    This place is overrated. Unfortunately I liked it better before it burned down :( I come here if I am craving a sandwich and am close but I don't think I will be returning anytime soon. They serve a large sandwich for a good price, but the quality is just not there. It would help if the bread was better.

    This place was decent. Freshly-sliced meat and good quality lettuce and tomato. I wasn't a big fan of the bread. I got the wheat, which was a little sweet and dry for my taste. A mom came in with her kid and the staff turned cartoons for the little guy, which was a nice touch.

    I used to love Kona's before it burned down, so I took my parents there on a visit back to SLO. I was so disappointed. Yes, the prices are still low (around $7 for a 6'' sandwich) and the service is quick, but the sandwich was terrible. There was barely any meat or cheese, tasteless lettuce, and way too much stale bread. The lemonade from the soda fountain tasted funny, too. I'll be visiting High St. or Ben Franklin's instead from now on.

    I'm really surprised to see these low scores for Kona's. Maybe in the past they weren't so great - I wouldn't know - but what I do know is they are awesome now. I had one of the specialty sandwiches - Turkey, avocado, and cheese, with the "works" (which i recommend). The avocado was creamy and delicious, and the bread is brought in fresh daily. It was so soft and had a slight sweetness to it that complimented the sandwich nicely. Just the half sandwich size was filling enough. Didn't really break the bank either, was $7 with a drink. When I paid it felt a little pricey but after I ate it was well worth the cash. The atmosphere is pretty cool too. It's got a surfer-style inside. The outdoor seating is really nice because there are lots of trees so there is a nice shade. So far this is my pick for the tastiest sandwich in Slo. I still have some other places to sample but I'm not sure if they can beat Kona's when it comes to taste.

    As a local, Kona's was somewhere my friends and I ate at all the time. My favorite: Turkey, ham and swiss-extra pickles! I was so excited when I heard they were open again but, I wish my experience was better... The sandwich was NOT the great one I remember. The bread was really thick, which I don't mind if there is enough meat, cheese and veggies to supplement. I got 1-2 slices of super thin meat and 1 really thin slice of cheese. I asked for extra pickles and I got about 4 pickles on my whole sandwich. They also consider tomato a "add-on" which I didn't realize until I had already started eating and didn't want to get back in line. Tomato is a sandwich staple, not a add-on! There was a bunch of lettuce though, thanks... I will say that I am going to go one more time. I will see how my sandwich is and revisit my review based on that. I don't think it's fair to judge the restaurant on one time. I just hope that things get a little better... I really think it would help the owner to have comment cards out. When people are used to something and it becomes drastically different, I feel the owners should know.

    Big sandwiches at a pretty cheap price but this is not a sandwich place for which I would go out of my way... The decor is cute with the surfboards haha, I get a kick out of those. We did take-out for lunch (which is always slightly awkward to me, since we are a restaurant too haha) and none of us were completely satisfied when finishing up our meals.

    You have to knock a sandwich out of the park for me to be a fan because let's be honest, I could stay home for lunch and hook it up for myself. It's all about the bread, fresh meat, and great cheese. The sandwich I had at Kona's was pretty good. The bread was really soft and the size of the half is what I would eat for a large sandwich and so I was satisfied with the size of the sandwich . The meat was great, I got the number one which had ham, pastrami, and provolone cheese, and both meats had a great flavor to them and I think cheese always puts a sandwich over the top. The price was pretty reasonable for the size of the sandwich you're getting and all the fresh ingredients. There is a lot of space to eat outside which was great for a lovely day.

    I absolutely love Kona's, and miss it dearly now that I've moved away. I honestly can not find a sandwich shop as good as this one anywhere else! Loved Loved Loved their sandwiches! They are made fresh in front of you -- the bread is cut, your meats & cheeses are sliced. Nothing is prepackaged or pre-done here. Additionally, everyone who works there obviously loves it, so it makes for a nice atmosphere. My usual order was a half (6") #9, which included pepperoni and provolone cheese. I would usually add bacon to it, and never once was I told I couldn't do it (I did have to pay extra, but that's ok). My mom ordered the veggie sandwich on occasion (when she visited she insisted upon a meal there) and said it was the best one she's ever had. The only downside is that because everything is so fresh, they will sometimes run out at the end of the day and then close early. It always made me a little sad :( I'm visiting soon and first on my list is a sandwich from Kona's!

    I remember coming here from tiem to time for a nice big deli sandwich. The key though, is that you cannot finish one sandwich. If you do, then you just eat too much, or you are always starving. The sandwiches are huge here and they have some really good specials for them. Good thing they're so close to where I lived before.

They slice the cheese and meat right in front of you so you know its super fresh. Their wheat bread is really good and sweet. I like to get their Junkyard Dog. It is amazing, I never get anything else. Their halfs are definitely enough food. They give you big portions and a half here would be like a full at other sandwich shops I have been to. Definitely a favorite :)

    My husband and ate here with a group of friends. One said it still looks like it did 20 yrs ago when she was a Cal Poly student. Another friend who didn't make it today had raved about their huge sandwiches. Unfortunately my husband and I disappointed as far as flavor goes. As far as a filling meal for a very good price, that would get a higher rating. Our tab for a half sandwich and a half sandwich Kona Kombo was under $12. We pay at least $18 for the same kind of order at other delis. But we pay more because we find the more expensive delis have more variety of breads (only white or whole wheat here) and much more flavorful meats. My husband said his pastrami here was very bland. I had the ham/turkey/swiss and I tasted the mustand and olives. It was hard to taste the meat. And the bread was overbaked for me. I love golden brown bread - especially if it's wheat or whole grain. The bread today was a dark brown on the top and bottom. But they were big sandwiches, mostly because the bread is more like a round loaf of bread sliced through the middle. Lots of bread. We left full and have a few more $$$ in our pockets, but not anywhere nearly as satisfied with the taste as we had hoped for. Extra note: There is a small fee for using a credit card to pay.

    Friendly but professional staff. Good food. They forgot to put bacon on my sandwich though. The bread was OK. Same texture as Subway. No impressed with that. I'd go back.

    This was our first and last visit to Kona's. The bread was incredibly dry and stale. The meat and cheese couldn't have been sliced thinner. The pastrami sandwich had one uber thin piece of meat on it. The lemonade tasted hideous. What a disappointment, after hearing good reviews about this restaurant.

    Bland, bland, bland. Bread - meh. Meat - typical slimy deli meat (gross). Price - surprisingly high. Do they toast sandwhiches you ask? NO. I was very dissapointed...not going back.

    Been dreaming about Kona's ever since leaving Cal Poly in 1992. Grabbed a turkey and swiss on my way home from LA. It was EXACTLY how I remember! Would have never known it burned down had i not read these reviews. Oh Kona's...how I miss you

    Growing up in SLO and working on Foothill Kona's used be a treasure for me. So when I heard they had re-opened and when I was coming to town I thought I would go back. First very big major problem I had was that they sliced their meat and cheese on the same machine. This may seem silly to some of you but when you have a severe diary allergy this is a danger. When I asked the girl if she could either clean the machine or slice my meat in the back she looked at me like I was crazy! Finally got my sandwich but had to wait for them to re-make my friends sandwich 3 times. Food was just so-so. I was so disappointed. I hope they can improve things soon.

    This place has changed the way I will look at sandwiches for the rest of my life. The moral of this review is "Never Judge a Book By It's Cover". My 1st year in SLO I never ate a Konas sandwich. I had seem people eating them, walked by the place a handful of times, and from a far this sandwiches look like any Subway/Quiznos junk you'd find a homeless man eating.. I thought i knew what i was doing... I was blind. My first experience with Konas was by chance. I had a friend eating one at my place, and by law of eating in ones place I taxed him a bite. Since then I was hooked. There is so much flavor and texture layered into this seemly sad looking sandwich. The bread is some type of sweet Hawaiian fusion made by the gods. All their ingredients are always fresh. Their staff will even give you their expert sandwich opinions. When this place was temporarily closed after the fire, I cried myself to sleep most nights. The only thing this place was missing was beer, which after my last visit their apparently is no longer an issue. I give this place 4 stars, why you wonder, because if i give it 5 Yelp will probably filter me. Keep up the good work guys!

    I lived right by here and would eat it almost everyday...especially right when I moved down to SLO from the Bay Area. This place pretty much saved me. I would always get just a turkey with swiss foot long. There's not too much more to write about this place. It was cheap and pretty good. It's a notch up from Subway. Oh, I did see Laurence Fishburne here in the parking lot. Not sure what he was doing there, but it was right when the Matrix came out.

    I love Kona's. I love their sweet bread and the employees are always nice and go out of the way for us to make our sandwich the exact way we want it. (We order a full and have different stuff on each sides. Idk about you, but that would drive me nuts and yet they are nice about it.) I like the atmosphere, but it is well-known and well-loved, not the place for a fast lunch. After finding Kona's, I could never go back to other sandwich shops. Unfortunately, Kona's burnt down recently. I look forward to it's re-opening, whenever that may be.

    Kona's has been in SLO forever. I have gone there a few times and I always say i won't be back. It isn't for lack of volume. the sandwiches are HUGE and they do pile on the goods. But being one person, and a girl, it's a lot for me to eat. I usually have to give the rest to my husband. The prices are average. The reason for 3 stars is the fact they put WAY TOO MUCH mayo, etc on the sandwich. which in turn makes the sandwich soggy and sloppy. So soggy that the bread falls apart and all your toppings fall all over. There are much better sandwich shops in SLO, one being Muzzo's!

    my boyfriend introduced me to kona's in the summertime.. oooh.. and it was love alright.. in fact i even got my roomates a bit hooked on kona's as well.. they are fairly cheap about $7-8/sandwich and the sandwich IS A-MAZING... i always, always get the destroyer.. its every possible meat plus the cheese, lettuce, etc.. i always get mine with sprouts.. which is free! sigh.. i'm pretty bummed it's closed for now due to the fire but fingers crossing that its gonna reopen soon..!!!

    for more reviews on kona's, try checking out reviews for the kona's on higuera (which closed and is now novo's). i ate here all the time as a student. a whole grip of food for the money and it's not half bad, either. the wheat bread used to be awesome, still good...just not as...awesome. it has a sweetness to it. how am i the only person to have reviewed kona's in the last 2 years? either way, the destroyer is my pick here. close enough to campus and hardly a wait.
