Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Me and my boyfriend come here regularly and we never receive bad service. Everytime we come we ask for Hasan because he is the best server there. Don't get me wrong everyone there gives excellent service but Hasan treats us like we have known him for a long time. Not to mention their delicious food. This place never seems to disappoint us. I reccomnd this place to everyone!

This rating is just for the food. The food is pretty decent, people do complain that it's pricey but they serve large portions, which I feel can easily be served family style. The service is not that good, but it was pretty busy. For an oldish establishment and the price you pay though the interior could be more cleaner. Overall, original joes is just another mediocre downtown San Jose restaurant. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either

Nice place, that all, not fancy or a like, the dish was fine A nice place to come for, don't expect "amazing" food, but was OK and prices are nice

Original Joe's is 100% old school. The waiters/waitresses all wear tuxes, there's lots of dark wood, and Italian accents abound. To be fair, I'm not the biggest fan of Italian food. It's fine, but it's usually not something I crave - and there are very few Italian restaurants that make me jump up and down. That said, Joe's has a very large and accommodating menu - and the fact that I was craving a steak sandwich and could get a good one here was very satisfying. Portions are very generous, service is friendly, and the vibe is just kinda cool - something different from what I'm used to. Bravo.

OK - this is one of those spots that the regulars go and keep going and keep going. It's packed and they don't take reservations. We ended up at the bar as the wait was over an hour. Drinks were strong and the staff is old school bar tender friendly....felt like a time warp to the 50's. Food - we had the chicken parmigiana and the Veal parmigiana. Both good but the VEAL was the best! Spaghetti side was yummy too. Yep, go here - put your name in and just plan to be there a while...worth the wait.

The food is fabulous and the service was great. We went for a girls night out & chose OJ's because we had a $100 gift card and when we paid it was not activated. Steve, The manager was so understanding and honored it! We are honest ladies and he knew we very distraught that this card (purchased from OJ's in Dec 2012) was not working. And the sautéed scallops were out of this world! We will back!

I have been trying to go there few times before and always had something to do instead. Finally I was able to find time and to go. The waiting time was 30 min- not bad at all, consider the "waiting to be seated" bar at the back. The service was old-school and friendly. But then we got the food, the T-bone steak had no taste and was poorly cooked, the ravioli tasted like it was from a can that was just wormed up in the microwave ! I would expect that kind of food from a divey dinner, not from a restaurant. The bill was way too high from the food. I will recommend to find some place else then here.

I thought this place was great. Popped in for a quick dinner and ordered the linguine with clams (white sauce). The portion was huge and not too pricey ($17). The food and the plate were served quickly and very hot! I also had the chicken soup and the awesome sourdough bread. This place definitely reminds me of the "Mafia style" Italian restaurants you'll find in NYC and Boston. The service was quick and friendly as well, although I ate at the bar. I will definitely return.

Try the Sweetbreads! Don't be afraid. They are absolutely delicious! They would have to be, in order to have been a mainstay of the menu for so long

Always better than you'd expect. For a place that's been around for 50 years, Joe's hasn't gotten lazy. Sure, the menu hasn't changed since the days of black and white television, but the portions are still most satisfying and tasty. The prices are more than reasonable. The wait staff is a throwback too: all men in off-the-rack tuxedos who are more than willing to tell it like it is. The fast, bustling atmosphere retains a precision feel. It's impossible not to be satisfied on leaving.

They were ok. A little pricey I would say. For the same exact dishes that are at a higher quality and a lot cheaper you may want to check out Joe's of Westlakte in Daly City.

Place has gone downhill. Not the same it was 13 years ago. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and wow. Not a good "wow". That chicken was so dry that I needed an extra glass of water to dunk it in and pray that it would make it down my throat without causing any damage. Thank God the bus boy kept up on the liquid intake!
